He's kind of boring, but he helps you through the workbook, and then you take tests. Kind of difficult, and quite a bit of work, but its doable.
His class is very boring. His test are hard to read, but if you do the reading you will be fine. The class can get a little hard to make yourself go to. Overall it is not to bad.

This class was great...this guy is crazy, but he it is actually fun to sit through the class because of it. The work is really easy too.
He is an interesting teacher who knows something about everything.
WEIRD, DULL, BORING..but the class isnt too hard
Bonnell is awful. He is a horibly boring, helplessly numb, dull witted, and ineffective as a teacher. Being in his class is less bearable than frost bite to the nose. Maybe he ONCE was a good teacher, but that day has long since past...
he is an extremely boring teacher!! i went to class almost every day and did the sudoku in the daily news. overall though the class isn't too hard if you keep up on the reading and take the quizes and do well on them, that is if you can stand to sit through his lectures.
he was very smart and always new what he was talking about. the best freshman teacher i had.
Dude is quite odd, class is very very easy but to sit threw it each day is about as fun as putting your hand in a blender....id reccomend him for an easy A or B with very minimal work
Very easy class. Every assignment is right off the workbook. He's a cool guy, even if he looks weird, sounds weird, and have every lecture be spoken like a monologue.
Some days are pretty painful to sit through, but his class is VERY easy.
Mr. Bonnell is a great teacher and knows his stuff, but his class is very boring. His class if very easy if you do his study guides for the tests and read what is assigned for quizzes. I recommend you take his class for that easy A for Humanities!
haha probably the most boring class ever... BUT it's easy.. i don't even look over the quiz stuff until right before class and i do just fine. just take your lab top and pay attention to the word building stuff when he goes over it and you'll be ok. for sure though take this class if you're into min. work.
Honestly, just look at the syllabuss and attend the classes where he has a quiz, worksheet due, and tests. Trust me you can miss half of the classes, but if you show up for the quizes and tests you'll get a B at worst. Quizes and tests aren't hard either.
Most likely the most boring teacher on campus, but really really easy as long as you go to class. I got a B+ and didnt even try
His lectures can be extremely boring but he is super nice and understanding. Attend class because he doesn't usually announce the quizzes and tests- it's on the syllabus though.
One of the most disorganized instructors I've had at Ball State. Came to class frequently unprepared and tried to do lessons from memory. This instructor does not make it worth coming to class. Makes class extremely boring. Cancelled class for a week cause he was sick and didn't respond to any emails regarding changes to the syllabus and quiz dates
Just review the study guides online right before the tests & you'll get an easy A. Total blow-off course.
Class was extremely boring. There were quite a few issues with the professor. He did not follow the syllabus, or address the fact that he was deviating from the syllabus. We were supposed to take 12 quizzes throughout the semester, and we only took 1 so our point total was off by 300 points. He is also very bad at answering emails. Do not recommend
The most boring class...of my life. Blow off class, just don't take it with him.
HUGE blowoff class. Don't even go to class because NOTHING of what he teaches in on any exam or quiz. The class is horrible as well. It reminded me of a persistant vocabulary lesson from middle school...only the words that you MUST memorize are in Greek & Latin. Avoid this class, and this "professor" as well.
Completely useless class & professor. Total blowoff class. Nothing of what is covered in lecture is on any exam or quiz. The class is just about Greek & Latin vocabulary memorization...nothing else. Worthless class.
The class was not interesting and he was very lazy in his teaching. We never knew what to study for the testthere was like a minimum of 250 words possible for the test and they were not multiple choice or were we provided a word bankHe often cancelled class and didnt let us know what would happen with the schedule. He was not helpful when asked stuff
Barely uses the book, isn't very clear. Cancelled class 8 times.
Worst "professor" I have ever had! Completely unorganized. Lectures go on and on! He rambles and not about whats going to be on the test! Physically hard to hear, even when I sat in 2nd row. Test are difficult because there is no multiple choice and it is basically memorization of terms. (no word list) DONT TAKE!
Not a class for 8am thats for sure. He rambles on about whatever he is talking about and it's hard to pay attention in class. As long as you do the readings from the book and look over the study guides class attendance isn't needed until you get into the plays. If you like Ancient Greece you will like this class.
Straightforward; Bonnell sifts through the material quickly, only occasionally going off on tangents during his lectures. Innovative; Bonnell requires a twitter account. Bonnell uses this a medium for him to ask questions and you to answer them. Book is necessary, as he uses it every class. He posts all the words you need to know, online. Easy!
The test are impossible, its fill in the blank with no word bank. In order to do well on the test you need to know over 100 words and their definitions. Horrible about getting graded tests back.
Lecture were pointless and boring. He gives out class notes on blackboard and uses the study questions as test questions. The exams were multiple choice but were changed to fill in the blank without a word bank. It is painful to find all the answers in the study guide but If you study it you do well on the exams. Not a good professor. I wish I would of not taken this class.
DO NOT TAKE! Tests are long and impossible, study guide is 65 pages long. I am a good student, a nursing student, and pride myself on doing well in my classes, but this class was ridiculous. It will do nothing but consume a vast majority of your and bring down GPA. Biggest mistake I made all year!
Stay away from this guy, he has random side thoughts and his class is useless
very boring class but relatively simple. the study guide(for the entire year) is 60ish pgs long but completing it really helps you on tests. tests are 10 short question, 2 essays style. attendance is necessary, he does pop quizzes. not highly recommended but can be interesting if you want to know about the material.
He was very clear, the subject was a tad dull, but useful, helps with vocabulary, the one group project was a bit random. He is a good teacher, enthusiastic about the topic, and is just a pretty chill guy.
Mr. Bonnell is nice, understanding and awkwardly funny. If you do the worksheets and listen in class, his tests are really basic and cover only things that have been discussed. Make yourself some flash cards and go to class, simple. He does ramble a bit, but it's usually to clarify something. He always gives you a chance to ask questions.
He is a horrible teacher. His study guides are ridiculous and unhelpful. We got to midterms with 4 quizzes and 1 taste done and he still hadn't graded anything. Do not take this class if possible.
This class was pointless. I emailed him multiple times with no response. It is now the last week of classes and he still has not updated any grades. There are 4 worksheets before every exam and they are hard to find the answers. The tests are easy. Out of all of the worksheets we have only seen two grades (both exams).
Mr. Bonnell is not the best professor! He never answers emails, he never puts your grades in, and cancels class a lot. Since he cancels class a lot, he doesn't follow the syllabus and doesn't give clear directions. He isn't very organized and often didn't tell us when tests or quizzes were. I would not recommend taking this class.
Mr. Bonnell is quirky and scattered. The course material is easy. The quizzes and tests are only on the material covered in class. He takes f o r e v e r to grade and post, and even longer to pass back graded papers. If you can tolerate the wait, then the class isn't half bad. The course material itself is easy, but be prepared to memorize a bunch.
Mr. Bonnell is scattered. You can tell he has a love for classical languages, but he has been dealing with disrespectful students for a while and it shows. If you study, show up and make yourself some flash cards you will do fine.
Lectures can be boring and scattered, he requires very little participation. Keeping up with the workbook assignments given on the syllabus is essential to passing. Quizzes and tests are very easy, all based on workbook.
Extremely boring class if you aren't very interested in the material. You only have to show up on quiztest days to pass, but it is better to attend. This is not the class to take if you don't have an interest in the material, unless it is a last resort for a requirement.
Mr. Bonnell is a nice guy, but he was not the best teacher and tells you to rely on the syllabus. There are a good amount of assignments that are all due on the day of a test. Only three of our grades were in the week before finals, so I never knew what my grade in the class was.
Andy is an easy A if you attend class and complete all assignments and participate. He drops the lowest test and the three lowest worksheets. There are a lot of assignments and he takes forever to grade them and return them. He will answer all questions you ask, but it is a large lecture class so sit near the front to hear clearly. Just study.
Andy's class is very easy but also sort of confusing. He doesn't state clearly what his assignments are or what he wants from you. But its just studying vocab, so its an easy A. He is goofy and rambles a lot, but he's just passionate about what he teaches. Extremely easy grader, in general it's an easy A course.
He is a terrible prof. and I would never take him again, nor would I recommend his class to anybody else!! He grades his worksheets and essays tough, expect to never get a 3030. He is not helpful at all, I went to him after a test to go over it, he just told me the answers and didn't know how to bring up my test and wouldn't do anything about it.
Andrew is not a very good professor. He is never clear on what he expects from you. Lectures are pointless as he goes around the room calling people who do not know the answers, this wastes about half of class time. You could literally teach yourself the class. Participation is worth 100 points so come to class and do the workbook lessons.
He didn't explain the work sheets for the class thoroughly
His lectures are extremely difficult to sit through considering he says "ummm" and "uhhhhh" over 500 times per 50 minutes, and we have only opened the book that was "mandatory" for the class like 2 times. Not worth buying!
I took this class as a freshman first semester. I'm an average student and NEVER got anything above an F on any test or quiz, no exaggeration. Lectures are dry & repetitive and drag on. I had to withdraw from the class. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
Three tests, must do worksheets every day that take less than 30 minutes. overall he's a decent prof you learn a lot of cool things not much work required mainly memorization of word prefixes, suffixes and bases.
He is extremely passionate about classical languages. I knew exactly what to expect on his tests and quizzes. Four tests, 9 quizzes, 3 essays. Fill out the lesson in the workbook before going to class and you'll be fine. He does randomly call on students so be prepared. Honestly, it's just a lot of memorization. I would take again for sure!
very easy class. the syllabus tells you exactly when things are due. every lecture is going over a lesson and you have to participate in order to get your points. he will also randomly call on you for answers. the quizzes are vocab, i got a 30/30 on everyone. The tests are harder but you just have to make sure to look over the posted powerpoint.
This is a pretty easy class if you show up. During class he announces a lot that is important to know such as time openings and closings for tests and quizes and when worksheets and essays are due during class. He also expains some of the questions better on homework. You do not get emails from him about homework/tests so you must go to class.
Mainly memorization but if you don't go to class, you will fail
His lectures are the same every day. He has a workbook that he has made that is the key to the class. If you study the workbook, the class is a no brainer.
It's pretty much just a lot of him rambling and speaking in another language. He calls on everyone at least once in class so be prepared. Could be worse I guess but I would never take his class again.
Called on a lot so be prepared. He rambles and gives you a lot of information followed by "you don't need to know that". Very hard to understand and know what its needed for the class and test.
Once you get all your participation points, you don't even have to go to this class because his lectures don't supplement your learning at all. Personally I think it is a pretty easy class, just study vocabulary and read the book.
Andy's not a good teacher. He's passionate, and I wanted to like him, but he's bad. His lectures, I swear, pass by so slowly it feels like you've been sitting there for hours. He tells the same stories over and over again. He says "um" constantly. He's a nice guy, but super awkward..
He's a goofball but the lectures aren't really important. As long as you do the essays and study the vocab for the tests the class is easily passible with a B.
I would stay clear from this professor if possible. His lectures are just him rambling and they don't make sense at all. It's impossible to follow along. His tests are only kind of like what he teaches, the rest you just have to guess on. If you do all your work you can pass with a B, but it seems fairly difficult to be able to get an A.
I have him for an online class. Each week we have a 10 point discussion board and thats all. weekly quizzes stopped at week 2. syllabus and pp all talked about things due in class despite being an online class. Emailed us on a random Thursday saying we had an outline for a term paper due on Sunday but didnt have a place for us to turn it in.
This is the easiest class I have ever taken. You have a weekly quiz and discussion post. There are three tests. Everything is open book. There are no projects, just quizzes and a couple of tests.
Anyone who says this professor is awful or the class was hard is simply LAZY!!! This class requires minimal effort. Its all memorization. Youre lowest quiz grade/test grade is dropped from the final grade. You are provided a workbook but all answers are online. You must go to class though and participate but its easy stuff. I got an A & did min.
I swear this guy never stops talking. Does not know how to narrow things down and explain what's actually needed for the test. I cannot stand this class and I'm waiting for the day that I never have to come again. Do not take this professor unless you want to be annoyed every single class day.
He really gets off topic a lot throughout the class. You do the homework and he goes over the homework and thats all, he doesn't really teach you the material, he feels that if you read it then you are taught. And be ready to understand fluent Greek the second week of class, if you know know it by then, you wont do well.
overall he's really passionate about classic cultures however he can ramble on for the whole hour about the class or history of the lesson rather than the lesson itself. Lots of homework, each class time you are to have a lesson from the workbook completed which are kind of long. He has worksheets and essays due when exams and quizzes are.
He is an okay professor. Hes a super nice guy but gets very off topic in his lectures. Hes always open to talk. The class is an easy A if you pay attention and participate.
If you have to take CC101 for your major I feel bad for you. Unless you're majoring in Classics this class in super unnecessary and pretty much a joke. The class itself is super boring and lectures are way off topic. Use quizlet to study for tests and quizzes and you'll be fine. Prof. is an odd dude, but he isn't mean or anything. PARTICIPATE!!!
Avoid taking this professor at all costs it is currently December almost finals week and this prof still has yet to put in grades from beginning of SEPTEMBER, still has office hours to be determined in his syllabus and it is almost impossible to contact regarding questions and receive a response.
This class was taken online due to covid; however, the professor has not reached out to us one time regarding the work and what is expected. He posts weekly assignments and it is usually a pretty heavy load. It is currently December, almost finals week and he hasn't graded anything. Avoid taking this class at all costs!
Very straight forward & the assignments were clear. Each week you were expected to complete a discussion board, a worksheet & a quiz. There are 3 short essays & a couple of tests. Study the Quizlet flashcards to help with quizzes. The lowest quiz & test scores are dropped. He took a while to grade, however he extended all deadlines to help.
I would avoid him if you can but he's not terrible. His class wasn't that difficult, but if you are a student that avoids participating, good luck. He calls on every student pretty much every class and he is a very picky grader.
Loved him, his energy, his jokes, and his class
He allowed students to laugh at someone who didn't know the answer, counts people late if you are 2 minutes prior to class start which is NOT late, requires attendance but all he does is gripe about his personal life(which I don't care about), he's not clear in his assignment instructions, and constantly says uh. Choose a different career path dude
Taught a language by sitting in a chair & have us read and translate paragraphs. Out of no where started giving us grammar quizzes and homework assignments after having not touched the grammar book at all— it was the middle of the semester. The point value on his assignments make no sense. Genuinely the worst BSU experience I've had.
Genuinely one of the worst professors I've had (in regards to teaching, I'm sure he's a wonderful person). We only read and translate in class, and he somehow expects us to know conjugations of various types. When asking a simple question, he rants about something completely unrelated, or just doesn't answer it at all. Quizzes are awful.
Andrew Bonnell's teaching style is unclear and disorganized. He often goes off-topic, making it hard to follow the lesson. He assumes students have prior knowledge, and doesn't offer enough help when confusion arises. Assignments are overly complicated, and his teaching feels outdated. I ultimately dropped the class due to his teaching style.
simple class just lecture about ALOT of unnecessary things. Attendance is mandatory and plays a major part in your grade!!! if you miss 50% of class you'll indeed fail.
