Just talk to them
There is a lot of information to remember. The video lesson & writing notes were helpful but a little too long.
The teaching style was really helpful when it came to doing the homework. The material was very clear. He uses video and written notes which are very useful but they are a little too long and hard to keep up.
Lots of homework, exams are 50% of grade, quizzes are 20%
Mr. Burch is a great teacher. I personally struggle with this subject so this course is difficult for me. Thankfully Mr. Burch provides other resources to further understand the material. He is very responsive and will give you help as long as you ask for it!
Online course, but some of the grade requires you to go to campus on specific dates that were not disclosed upon signing up for the course. It is counted as part of the grade and is unrelated to math. Exams are hard and have new questions. He is very understanding and friendly regarding assignments as long as you reach out to him and communicate.
Overall good professor. Straight forward and grading system is easy to understand. Nice guy too through emails I have sent.
Be careful taking online classes because it would make it hard. I some stuff have to get them on the Internet and tutors. The good thing is that it has a lot of practice problems in Moer. I would take a class with this professor again, but not this class because online is hard.
Constant homework and work, which is manageable if you are consistent to begin with.
Online classes can be difficult, but he makes it easy to understand the matertial.
If you know you struggle with math in person, this class is not for you. Online is a harder challenge since you can't ask for help, although the professor answers rather quickly, you may find yourself stuck. There is often extra credit provided to help buff up your grade. Do not try to shortcut your any lessons since the finals are worth 50%.
When you take this class make sure you are prepared for the online exams for this class, because there will some questions on them that was not taken in the lectures and the homework.
Professor Burch's class was beneficial in providing available resources per lesson, and they responded quickly when contacted. I highly recommend Professor Burch's class for those needing credit in pre-calculus.
The Professor's teaching style is very difficult and makes sure that you spend multiple hours on the lessons provided. I never had a hard time with math until this course. I have friends who are taking the same course with a different professor and they are easily passing with an A even though I spend double the time they do and understand it more.
Professor Andrew Burch is an exceptional educator, although his teaching method sometimes involves skipping steps that he feels students should already know. For those considering his online courses, if they lack recent high school experience or proficiency in mathematics, I strongly suggest considering additional tutoring support.
One thing to know is that this course is one that you take control onto your own hands. You will be as successful as the time and devotion you put in.
Overall he was a decent professor I wasn't a fan of some of the assignments he had us do and he also took a while to grade things.
Was a good teacher so far. Mostly learned material from online tutors.
Great teacher, just a lot of work.
Lots of non-math related content.
He was a decent professor, but I had to seek lots of help from tutors and online videos to understand. Most of the assignments were not even about math, which was ridiculous and a waste of time. They were things such attending school club meetings or events and if you didn't do enough of those each quarter you wouldn't get a good grade.
I think he is a decent professor. He is very flexible and understanding of different circumstances. He is kind.
Never enjoyed math, but took advanced math in HS passing w/ As or high Bs. Class seemed to be review, so I was complacent but was thrown off b/c everything was more complex. I had a harder time than ever w/ calculus. Emailing him isn't helpful. Maybe I wasn't clear in my emails, so I can't hold that against him. Videos were helpful 90% of the time.
So far I'm at a B+ in this class and hope to get an A which I believe I will achieve. His class is pretty hard if you don't pay attention to the lessons or homework. The online exams and quizzes are doable for sure and the in-person exams are also doable.
I would take this instructor but I would like some instruction on solving different problems.
He provided a lot of avenue for student to get more point to help with grades. He is ready to work with the students to if there is any issue that is preventing them from success.
Professor Burch is a great professor if you want to learn pre-calc online. You just have to take notes while watching videos and practice. Beware that there are 20 questions per homework but only 10-15 for quizzes and tests.
Homeworks are long, lots of quizzes and exams, and sometimes what's on the homework isn't covered through the views but he's a great proffeser who provides extra help and responds fast. It's a easy course to get through with enough effort.
I am almost done taking this course and am currently 89. This course isn't hard if you have someone to ask questions to as you go so that you don't have as many gaps when studying for midterms or the final. Make sure to communicate with the professor and ultimately just do your best!
The professor has all his material clearly put together in video lectures and in folders for each lesson. When emailing, the professor answered in a timely manner. You'll need to pay very close attention to the video lessons in order to learn the material. Get ahead as much as you can.
Professor Burch is Great, I wish I had taken him in person because I do have a lot of questions that were assigned on homework that were completely different from the ones you will see on a test or just in general for the online math website. I felt that the online lecture videos do not prepare you for the homework or assignment 6/10 times
His class is hard but the teacher makes sure you understand before you move on. He won't always tell you the answer or how to get the answer to what you're asking, first he'll want you to try on your own. Which can be hard when you are lost.
He is honestly a great professor; this class is just a lot of work and sometimes can be difficult to deal with online. He gives great resources to succeed.
The Professor uses a lot of fill in blank notes, and that makes it so that you can't customize your own notes, so that you understand the subject. Also a lot of the homework/ quizzes use equations that have not been covered in the notes.
Professor Burch was a good professor. He gives you the tools you will need to succeed in this class. Even though it can get overwhelming he is there to help. His virtual meeting hours to ask questions are a good tool if you have a hard time with a particular section throughout the course.
Professor Burch was a good professor. He gives you the tools you will need to succeed in this class. Even though it can get overwhelming he is there to help. The only down fall is that you can't really customize your notes since he uses a lot of fill in the blank notes. You have to have an additional notebook to add to your notes.
Professor Burch was a good professor. He gives you the tools you will need to succeed in this class. Even though it can get overwhelming he is there to help. The only down fall is that you can't really customize your notes since he uses a lot of fill in the blank notes. You have to have an additional notebook to add to your notes and have examples.
this professor was all right
Missing a day or starting on work late will definitely set you back. It is easy for the work to pile up if not completed right away because of how many assignments are due each day. Nothing is overly complicated, you just have to be on top of things. The videos help tremendously when learning.
Professor Burch is knowledgeable, but his videos sometimes lack the necessary information for homework and tests. Students may need to find extra resources to learn different problem variants. The homework videos are useful about 80% of the time. The course is test and homework heavy. If you have the opportunity to take the class in person, do it.
Professor Burch is knowledgeable, but the homework videos need improvement. Often, I had to seek additional resources beyond what was provided. The class includes lecture videos with fill-in notes, homework six days a week, and weekly tests and exams. If you have the opportunity and time to go in-person, take it.
The professor themselves are really helpful when you ask them for additional support. However the online lectures and homework are very time consuming with each lesson paired with a homework full of 20 questions.
Professor Burch is a knowledgeable and helpful instructor. He explains things clearly and in a digestible way. The lectures provided in the online course can be helpful, however I did find myself using outside resources at a few points in the course, as the lessons provided are too surface level for me on some more challenging problems.
I took the class online. And it is imperative that you are on top of the dates. There is a lot of work due each week and on average when you couple the video lesson and the homework, each section can take 3+ hours to complete. The notes did not always reflect the questions that were asked in the Homework, so you will need to seek outside help.
He was a good professor and uses videos to teach and usually they're in depth.
He was nice and responded quickly also used a lot of videos to teach.
Requires a lot printing, HW is easy but can be every time consuming, but it does prepare you for the exams.
Makes things hard when it does not have to be.
The homework assignments will take forever to complete. If the professor reads this, I'd recommend giving students 18 questions that have been used as examples and 2 questions that were not covered at all just so students don't have to spend an extra 2 hours on searching and learning on how to do a certain question.
Mr.Burch is a great professor and is willing to answer any questions you have and communicate really well with his students
This class requires a lot of printing for notes. Homework isn't too bad each but assignment has 20 questions which can be time consuming. Each lesson can take up to 3 hours depending on what it is. There have been a few questions that weren't covered in the notes and no examples are provided. So figuring out how to do it can take a while.
The professor was good just the material was sort of difficult but with good note taking it is a good course.
He is good professor overall but if you don't pay attention or learn from his lectures or video notes you will struggle especially on exams but he is a very decent professor overall.
Expect this class to be rigorous, especially if you take it over the summer, but the video lectures cover most content effectively. Professor Burch always responded quickly to any questions I had.
The class is difficult but if you work hard and complete everything you will get a good grade. This was online so there wasn't much face to face but I felt like the content was taught well online.
You will need to print out all of the homework for this class, but the notes did help out a lot. Paying attention to the video lectures is crucial to understand the content.
I took this class as a summer class so if you do the same expect to do lectures every day and try to be a couple days ahead. The midterm and final are heavy upon the grade and be sure to study. In my experience the study guides did not help much as most study guide questions were not on the tests so try to study and understand all material you can.
I took this online class to get ahead on my math and it was a good experience. Very expected and lots of homework with the test being heavy on your grade.
Although this class is difficult, I'd definitely recommend it for growth and credit. Not to mention how great the professor is!
Follow along closely during the videos for online courses, steps will sometimes be skipped because they are "easy" steps you should know.
Took this course online over summer, MOER system was easy to use and efficient. The course is test heavy, so make sure to use the midterm and final practices as often as possible.
The MOER Program was great and easy to use!
Great professor!
Professor Burch is okay. I did a short term course with him and personally it just wasn't my style. He wasn't super helpful but I think this is just the nature of the course. Maybe he's more personable in the longer courses but for me i'll have to consider him for the 16 week term courses.
Very test dependent.
Okay professor
He uses an online math website to teach us math I am not sure if it is himself lecturing or not. If it is him lecturing in the videos we watch then I would say he is good at explaining how to do certain math problems however there were time where I have been completely lost and gave up because the homework load was wayyyyyyyy too much.
Andrew Burch is a good professor he explains math concepts really well. He illustrates thing clearly and, in his course, participation is a big priority. I can confidently say that the ti_84 calculator will help anyone taking this course. Something I notice is he has this saying, 'kill two birds with one stone' to summarize he is a well-respected
lots of assignments. lots of notes. is quick to respond.
andrew gives alot of insight and resources on how to solve a problem. he takes his job in teaching very serious and its appreciated.
I had no problems with the professor in this class. I felt that he did a good job and was very helpful when needed.
Avoid at all costs, especially if you're taking a fast paced course.
This online math class is no easy feat, but with dedication it can be conquered. The professor provides solid video lectures, though the homework can be time-consuming. Stay on top of the material and you'll do well on the tests - they're the real challenge here.
While the course content is challenging, the online format and the professor's clear explanations make it manageable. Be sure to stay on top of the video lectures and homework assignments, as they are crucial to success. The tests can be heavy, so utilize the practice materials to prepare effectively.
This online math course is challenging but rewarding. The lectures are informative, and unstuckstudy ai proved invaluable for exam prep. Stay focused, and you'll excel despite the heavy testing.
It was a very fast-paced class and very hard to keep up, teachers emails were not helpful at all and did not answer any of my questions. Exams were in person and 50% of the grade. You were FORCED to take paper notes which is weird for an online class and you must turn them in for a grade. Odd class it's not worth it unless you're heavily motivated.
Worst professor I have ever dealt with. Exams do not match up with reviews, teaching us Calc 3 material instead of pre-calc. Only advise he gives students who are struggling is, " go to tutoring." Even the tutors questioned why we were being overtaught material that was not on the lesson plan of pre-calc. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR ONLINE.
The class itself is not bad at all though it starts to feel overwhelming around midterm/finals time. Professor Burch responds fast to questions and makes the lectures as interesting as possible. I love the notes they use as you print them off and just fill in answers.
If you're already comfortable with pre calculus you will be ok. If not you may struggle some, some questions even tutors have a hard time helping with. You will need to do a lot of outside research if you struggle. Not an easy class, lots of work. Mostly online lectures not much interaction with the instructor.
He is a fantastic teacher. His class is straightforward to understand.
Very clear outline of what is expected, makes it very easy to get assignments done.
Andrew Burch is a good teacher, I like his videos where we took notes from. They were a little fast but I was able to understand correctly. I wish I had the time to meet in person because there was a few topics I did not fully understand. Would highly recommend asking for help and trying to meet in person as that would of helped me a lot.
Andrew Burch is a very good professor as long as you stay on top of your homework. Precalculus is no joke but he makes it easier with him being available via online or recommends tutoring. I went in person for my midterm and he was very sweet and understanding if a student did not get a question. He also gives opportunities for extra credit! So yes
Andrew Burch is a great professor, he has very informative and clear leactures. He provides notes and the homework is very easy. You have unlimited tries on each homework question as well as multiple late passes. All assignments are given with ample time to complete them. Mr. Burch is also easy to reach and responds in a timely manner.
The online class requires you to watch video lessons that are over an hour.
The teacher is open to meeting whether online or in person. He's also easy to reach with messaging systems if help is needed. The class may be difficult but it's worth seeking out the extra powerpoints and videos he provides. Students will definitely have these extra options and extra credit before considering tutoring if they really need it.
He's okay. Pretty good at lectures but not super good at communication with questions.
he explains the material very well and gives good explanations.
The professor made the class very easy to understand with the layout. Each module was easy to get to, everything was very easy to access, and so much more. Overall, it was a good class, and I would take more classes like this.
Good teacher and is open to questions if needed.
a lot of homework but all video lessons created explained pretty well, gives chances to bring up grade in class every unit, very good teacher that works with his students when given the chance
A lot of homework and guided notes which easily can make up an entire day. Also had to use a lot of other resources. The test are easy if you grasp the material but some modules can be rough and had little time to learn the concepts before the next one. Heard bad things about his online pre-calc class as well. Too bad he is the only online option.
It was a demanding but worthwhile training, in my opinion. Even though some of the lessons went by quickly, the professor was extremely informed and had a clear explanation of even the most difficult ideas.
so much homework to do
Be aware of Midterms and Finals they are 50% of your grade.
Midterms and Finals are 50% of your grade and can drop you tremendously if you fail.
This class was a challenge for me material-wise, but the professor was very helpful and accommodating.
This class is very good to learn, being able to be taught and shown the steps clearly on how to solve these new math equations. Since this class is online you will have to print the pages out of the work book that is given, which can get excessive.
Lectures were a bit long as you have to stop video and write down all the notes to show proof of attendance and make sure you are doing the assigned work. Work was clearly explained in video lecture with example problems. Extra credit is always a plus, anything to help improve your grade. The instructor was professional.
While working with Mr. Burch, I found that he was helpful, especially in offering extra credit and communicating with students. However, the lesson notes and the extra reviews did not always cover problems similar to those on the test. For his midterm, the review was different from the actual assessment, making it hard to prepare for the test.
His lectures in the assignments are very useful and very helpful to understand the topic better.
Very useful and videos he sends out are very direct and can understand it once explaining it.
I would just make sure to make sure to do your homework
Very useful on lectures he sends out and easy to pick up on how to do the problems and assignments.
Professor Burch is very professional in his teaching style and ability to convey material clearly. Math is just a little tricky and everyone learns differently. Mr. Burch's effort really shows.
He is a good teacher, I am taking online classes and I like that he is very organized. I just feel like there are a lot of sheets that we use for notes.
Mr. Burch is friendly and collaborative with his students. Even in his online course, he provides many materials for students to succeed. I particularly enjoyed his lecture style including a printed workbook, along with follow-along style lectures.
Teaching is good, I like the way the video lectures are put together.
There is a lot of videos and homework. The videos will help you understand the topic and other resources are given to help us.
Runs through sections fairly fast. I wish that his videos would be a little more detailed as far as steps and why things are done a certain way. No problems otherwise. Pretty straight forward teaching. The rest depends on you since its an online class.
Lectures and assignments are easy to follow and understand. There's also extra resources if you need more help.
Plan to remember formulas and be on your own. It'll be helpful to spend a lot of time studying outside of class and some outside tutoring.
Video lessons for the most part are mediocre overviews. I recommend tutoring when needed. His bio on the school website says "I am known as a difficult instructor that expects a lot from his students". This is shown with the low quantity of equations that are provided for the midterm, how much memorization is expected, and grade mins for credit.
The teaching style is very simple but is also effective. I will sometimes like to have a video attach to any specific problem but more than that it is a good teaching style.
The class was well organized and clearly structured. All assignments were posted and accessible at consistent due dates with no surprise assignments.
Andrew Burch has been an amazing professor. He provides all the useful information that you need for assignments and quizzes. He's very respectful and thoughtful when it comes to messaging him. This class is good as long as you get your work done.
Professor Andrew Burch is an excellent educator. Their engaging teaching style and clear explanations make complex material easy to understand. Highly recommended!
Professor Andrew Burch teaches MAT187, a Pre-Calculus course, and provides a solid foundation in the subject. His teaching style is straightforward, which helps students grasp the material more easily. From the beginning, it was clear that he has a good understanding of the content, and he makes an effort to convey that knowledge effectively.
Not considerate of students at all and cannot answer questions himself. So much homework and extra lengths to make the class harder than it has to be.
The professor normally responds in under 48 hours. However, the lecture videos don't align well with the corresponding homework assignments.
There is a lot of homework assigned but course itself is not too difficult. Midterm and Final Exams can be difficult and impact overall grade a lot.
This was not a good math class. The video lessons are over 6 to 7 years old and don't reflect well into the homework. Truth be told at some point I gave up on the old video lessons and started using Khan Academy and ChatGPT to teach me step-by-step instructions and that was better than the videos.
Mr Burch is a great instructor. He was very helpful as long as you contacted him. Reach out immediately if any questions or concerns come up regarding the course work, or subject understanding. I definitely recommend his online course.
Watched a lot of videos that went along with the work for the online course.
Professor Burch provides many additional resources for understanding the material and offers extra credit opportunities. Burch is very communicative, easy to contact and very helpful. Notetaking in his class is well organized and easy to complete which is also part of your grade, it has been very useful for course understanding and exams.
Its an okay class. The lecture videos aren't very helpful when it comes to the homework. They also don't show a lot of examples that could be on the homework. This class requires a lot of studying and memorizing steps of the equations.
I dropped this class within a week. You are expected to print out all of the notes, play fill in the blank alongside videos, and then scan them back in. The material itself isn't terribly hard but the videos aren't helpful. Very old and gritty and they don't cover everything on the assignments. I just can't spend 3+ hours/day on 1 class. Busy work!
I want other students to know that Andy is a good teacher and that his teaching style is effective.
I did this class online, so I don't know how he is in person. There's no live lectures, you get late passes & you can message him whenever. Instruction is following along with hour-long videos with a BIG notes packet you have to print out yourself. You have to send pics of said notes at the end. Also, long homework. MUST have a graphing calculator.
He was great with allowing calculators on the test and clarifying questions quickly!!
Honestly? Follow the video notes and you will pass. The answers are basically given to you.
Something important to note about this course is that you shouldn't take it if you struggle with math. If math isn't your strong suit, don't choose this professor. The teaching style isn't the best if you know you need more help learning the subject; it's not very attentive or explanatory.
Class has a lot of homework, but if you do all the assignments you'll pass
His lectures are easy to understand, I love how he allows the use of Desmos in proctored exams as well as the 3X4 index card. Even if there's notes that you need to print out and send, it is actually helpful if you ever need a refresher instead of going back to the main video lesson.
The video lessons are easy to follow, the notes are very helpful and easy to read. Definitely taking his class again in the future.
This class is not really hard, but it is easy to fall behind so stay on top of your work.
Great lesson structure.
hard class very fast. good teacher overall
the professor is very good on providing plenty of material to understand the modules.
My main complaint about this course is that some material in the homework isn't covered in the notes, and I had to depend on outside sources to learn the step-by-step for some problems. I also wish the review for the mid-term was more helpful in preparation for the exam. Overall, it's an alright class, but it's a lot to take in memory-wise.
If you do not have a good memory, this class might be a lot, and some of the material from the homework is not on the notes, so you might have to ask for help or find outside sources that give a step-by-step explanation. Overall, it's an alright online class.
If you already have trouble with math, this course will be challenging. The instructor is fine; he has a good system in place for his online courses. Follow the video lesson, unlock homework, take a test, and repeat. However, as I said before, existing math troubles make it easy to fall behind.
The video lesson does not provide all the necessary content for the assignments, and you have to search for additional external resources to learn the steps. You're also required to write down everything from the lesson into notes, which is very time-consuming.
The assignments tend to be more challenging than what is covered in the video lessons. The video lesson only cover part of the material, so you often need to find additional resources to understand the steps. Additionally, having to manually write down everything from the lesson into notes takes up a lot of time.
I feel like we didn't learn from the teacher; instead, we were stuck learning difficult math from videos of different teachers.
Fairly simple class. Each lecture is followed by homework. The extra videos and slideshows really help, especially when we don't go over specific problems. Tests are definitely more challenging but overall a solid class.
I believe that Mr. Burch's online class was easy to undestand and follow along each week. Objectives are clear and the amount of work feels in par with the assigned lectures. Using Moer has been a smooth experience where as everything is available and neatly laid out for viewing in a timeline, which has plenty of resources and extra practice.
Professor Burch uses videos and extra materials to teach the materials of this course. He provides extra help links for any student who needs it. Your grades are updated quickly. His course is very informative.
He has a good teaching style.
Good curriculum. Thorough explanation of different concepts.
This course has a lots of work specially in HW department, where if you don't get at least 90 percent it is counted as zero percent.
Mr. Burch is great! Its an online class so if you arent good at calculus I say go in person but overall he's a great professor. He replies to emails very fast and is always looking out for his students. He understands life gets in the way sometimes and isn't too harsh. Lots of homework but gives extra credit opportunities.
He is a good professor, gives you plenty of extra credit opportunities (take them), it is a lot of homework but they are easy if you do them with plenty of time in the day. Will work with you if you need him too. Also, his grades are good and on time. Gives plenty of chances to pass class. 10/10 would recommend.
Lots of homework but he gives plenty of late passes and extra credit opportunities. He responds quickly and there's a lot of material available if you need extra practice. There's no textbook needed but you'll print and handwrite a lot of notes.
Porfessor Burch is very good when it comes to helping students understanding the material.
Pretty standard professor, not much else to say.
Too much homework and boring lectures. Midterm and Finals are also 50 percent of your grade. So, it feels like all your work that is not the midterm or final is useless.
Great Professor! Took an online version of MAT187 and had a great time. Felt very supported and feel sufficient in all things taught.
You get like 100 late passes and unlimited tries at the homework, If you're not acing this class something is wrong with you fr.
Professor Burch is very helpful at lending a hand when help is needed. However, most assigments take awhile, I belive most peple would name this "busy work".
Not bad of a class just gotta pay attention
This professor is very nice. He is very understanding you just have to pay attention.
He is very understanding and will help if you ask. Watch the videos and maybe have a tutor and you'll be fine.
This is an online course, the assignments are prerecorded videos and there is extra resources if needed. The professor provides many resources and is always quick to respond to questions.
This is an online course and the videos are pre-recorded, you will take notes with the videos and work on problems as the video progresses. There are other resources available if needed in every module. The professor is caring and quick to respond to questions.
Overall, the class is easy, however the material is very difficult and the lectures are not always clear. A problem which I notice often is that homework does not match the lectures, and the problems on the homework are much more difficult than the examples given.
The class is pretty simple, lecture videos and homework assignments are the majority of the class. It's pretty easy to manage and you get plenty of late passes if you need them. Overall, it's a good online class that explains everything clearly for the most part.
Professor Burch is a good professor, I've messaged him a few times and he responds fast and he even has given me extensions for assignments. The class all on MOER and he provided a hundred late passes which I think is very generous! I will say that the video lesson doesn't always show examples or explains some of the questions on the homework.
Professor Burch was helpful in responding to questions but the system used to do assignments and everything is in MOER. MOER has a strict grading but if you give yourself time to study and complete assignments it is all good. I like the fact he let us have a notecard for midterm and final.
He was honestly one of the best professors that I have ever had. He made the class for easy to achieve and understand. I took the course online and mainly just had to make sure that I did the assignments. Personally, after working full time and getting a new job he was very understanding and was willing to help me with extensions.
While difficult, the class will require a lot of participation. It's recommended students try to plan ahead and seek tutoring but the instructor will add extra materials to help clarify questions in future assignments. He typically responds to questions via email or messaging systems quickly and explains things with detail.
This teacher is really understanding and allows you to make up for late assignments and allows access to all materials and sources you need.
Teacher is very understanding and allows you to make up late work
Teacher allows you to make up late work and allows for late work to be turned in at full grade, teacher has well thought out lesson plans and gives you the tools to utilizez
Mr. Burch is very responsive and understanding of everyone's situations, allowing late passes and extensions to get caught up. The class work could feel like a lot depending on how busy your schedule is, like 4 other classes and/or work. It is recommended to work at least a few days or a week ahead to stay on top of it.
I really enjoyed this class, every lecture was explained very well for the professor Andrew Burch! He also provided the students with additional resources to improve their understanding of every lecture. I hope that the next students taking this class enjoyed their time learning and improving their knowledge of math in Professor Burch class!
He is a good professor, he's available if you need any help, but sometimes he doesn't explain in depth.
NOT denying the guy knows math, he just isn't good at teaching it. The videos are very long and unclear, he does have “additional help” things but they normally are no help at all. The homework is way more tough and nothing like what he shows us doing the videos. His emails also are very pointless and help 1/10 times.
very good teacher answered and reply very quick to your answers.
Keep it up
expectations are clearly stated and organized. Professor is very approachable and accessible.
Pay attention to the lectures when filling out his note page. Make sure that you have graphing calculator because it comes in handy a lot. Make sure that you make a set schedule for you to devote the time for the work you will need to do.
I was in the 1 month version of this class, so it was more lecture and homework heavy than your average longer class to make up for the time. Despite that, the lectures were clear and easy to understand, and the homework load actually aided me in really understanding the concepts of what we were learning a lot more. I recommend this professor.
This professor was prompt to answer emails. His lectures are good. He also gives extra credit opportunities, late passes, and amnesty. He makes sure students have the resources and ability to succeed.
He is kind and helpful. Thank you so much!
This teacher is amazing! I have always struggled with math and after taking this class so many concepts make so much more sense. I would really recommend this class/teacher if you also struggle with math!
just do the work and follow the notes
This class has been one of my favorites so far due to its clear structure, even though the module itself is challenging. The professor does an excellent job of presenting the material in a way that is easy to understand. I would highly recommend this class to anyone who finds math difficult and is looking for a course that is easy to understand.
Clear material. Took the class online so the lectures were a little longer, but everything was explained well. Appreciate that the teacher added extra helpful material.
Professor Burch did well for an online professor. He was swift to respond to emails whenever I needed an answer fast. The lessons are not the most intuitive, sometimes they were 1-1.5 hours long when the subject may only have needed 30-40 minutes. All round pleasant experience, would choose his class again.
pretty good professor. Was an online course but all material was given and twests weren't too bad either so long as you study.
I would want other students to know about the professor is he is really nice but never met him. His class is really good. There is a lot of writing and very time consuming. So, get ready to have homework everyday but it's really not that bad. Overall great professor and good class.
He is very knowledgeable in his content area; I feel he does not teach to his students, he just reads his notes. I found this class to be very difficult, the midterm and final are 50% of your overall grade. If you struggle, I would look for another class as this one is so heavy and the notes do not cover everything you need to know.
Professor Burch provides helpful note sheets for each lecture, which make studying much easier. His grading system is fair, as you can earn full credit on homework, notes, and quizzes if you stay on top of the work. The midterm and final are each 25% of your grade, but with enough practice, they're manageable.
Fairly easy class, only problem is that it required work on the weekends for about a month. If that and the other time requirements aren't a problem for you, this class is well worth the credit.
He's a really good teacher, responds really quickly, notes are very easy!
Lecture videos were clear but too long. The homework for the videos should also have less questions as each has 20 questions with repeated questions that are unecessary.
Responds quickly to emails. Class is not too difficult if you recall material from prior classes. He does talk kind of fast in his lessons but not a big deal online because you can rewatch. Expected to take lots of notes.
Professor Burch responds very quickly and is more than willing to help with anything. I really enjoyed taking his class.
Professor Burch responds to emails promptly and addresses inquiries efficiently. He made learning math engaging through video lectures, assignments, and quizzes. I thoroughly enjoyed this class and would highly recommend it to others.
Good teacher, lectures match up with the homework given. Also gives extra videos to give a 2nd pov on some harder assignments. the amount of homework really helps on the midterm and final !
Easy class just a lot of homework stay on top. Study for your midterm!! And final
The class is pretty straight-forward. Tons of homework but if you put in the effort, you will pass the course.
Professor Burch was cool and easily accessible, but I found this class very confusing a lot of the stuff they showed us in the videos was different compared to what was on the homework. He offered XC and even had extra help videos but overall was still kind of confusing. Professor Burch is very good with mad but sometimes could be bad explaning it
Be prepared to print out a lot of paper or be adept at using your mouse to draw. Excellent and concise lectures!
The teaching style and ability to convey material were excellent and easy to understand!
Professor Burch is very organized, precise, and has clear expectations for his students. The accelerated course is fast paced and can be overwhelming at times if you have other things going on in your life but it's nice to have a professor who has accurate material and as I said before clear expectations.
Professor made material easy and clear to understand.
This professor gave 3 hours of homework a day and made me fill out "notes" that took up to an hour and a half, in the end though I learnt all the information relatively well.
If you want to be set up for failure this is the guy. I've heard his in-person classes are better but the videos he provides explain about half of the information you need to pass the class. I was teaching myself the majority of the concepts through Kahn Academy. I would not recommend taking his online class unless you want to teach yourself.
Took this course online, it was very straightforward. The videos are clear and match the homework well. Each module has a quiz and exam, and there's also a midterm and final, those two combined are worth 50% of your final grade. He's responsive and provides extra help videos. Overall, a fair and well-structured class.
This class was overall good; the only thing I would say was "bad" is that the midterm and final in-person exams account for 50% of your grade. It makes sense why it is that way, but I don't care for it.
Professor Burch was a great professor. Even though his class was online, he offered many opportunities to make up missed assignments. This course is pretty easy and as long as you do the work you will be fine.
Despite what the lectures covered, the home work was way different, and I had to teach myself a good amount of the concepts. At the beginning of the class the professor was rude in correspondence and couldn't understand what I was reaching out about, but was much nicer towards the middle through end of the class. Not a bad class, just a lot of work
I took him online, so I don't really know how he is outside of the lectures that were recorded, but every messaged him about something he was quick to respond.
Honestly I didn't speak much with this professor, only when things were out of order did I email him. He is very understanding. the course itself, specifically the online summer one is very heavy because it has to be so condensed so I felt like it had a LOT of homework. The lectures were clear and understandable and left little room for confusion.
The online lectures are difficult and long with the professor expecting you to have previous knowledge of the topic at hand.
I really appreciate the thoroughness of his teaching style, also he was very accommodating and understanding of life circumstances. I took this as an accelerated course in the summer alongside 2 jobs plus life drama, so it was pretty intense for me personally. But pretty much couldn't have asked for anything more from him, I'm the problem lol
hard to keep up
Gives lots of homework and lectures are long. Midterm and finals are 50% of your grade which doesn't seem fair given how much homework and lectures there are. This class is not easy and definitely not for someone who works full time. You'll need to dedicate a lot of hours to this class unless you're very very good at math
His teaching style isn't for me, but I would take the class again.
Overall, a pretty good math professor. The lectures can be long, and you'll have to fill out paperwork as you go, but they are essential and informative. Although when it comes to math, it's hard not to have longer lectures compared to other classes. I had to reach out to him a few times, and he is great at responding to messages quickly.
I want people to know that this professor is very good at teaching.
Mr. Burch is a chill professor, but his teaching styles are not for me. I love that he gives plenty of extra credit, but I do not like how the reviews for midterms are set up. He gives us so many problems but I did not know what concepts to REALLY focus on, it felt half the material i learned was missing on the test. Good at responding quick though
The lecture videos/notes only go over about half of the material or just the basic stuff for the topic. Therefore, the homework almost always has stuff that wasn't taught, so you have to figure it out on your own. Other than that, the professor is very kind.
I have taken a course with Professor Burch many years ago and I love it. I knew if I ever needed to take a math course I would instantly sign up for his class. He gives you alot of resources to help you understand and fully grasp the information. However that being said, this course is has alot of homework, quizzes, and lectures. Stay ahead!!!
Credit to the instructor, this is class is a hard concept to learn fresh, there are a lot of resources to learn the material, but there isn't enough instructor guided assignments. Each section is video lesson with base line concept material but not enough guidance in terms of, "here's what you do when you get this type of problem."
Andrew Burch is a great professor; however, his course is extremely heavy. I would not recommend this class if you are working full time. The videos and written notes are overwhelming. Some of the lessons are almost an hour long but will take longer if you do not work well in a fast-paced environment.
The professor is not bad, but the workload is VERYYY heavy. Be ready to print out ALL your notes if you do online. If you do not pass the midterm or final, it is most likely going to lead to an automatic fail even with all the work you put in. I wish we got more in depth ways to solve problems. You probably will have to look for outside resources.
Overall, Professor Burch is a very straight-forward and attentive teacher. He is easy to reach out to when needed and makes a difficult class a little less difficult.
Don't have any complaints about professor. He allowed us chances to improve grades which was helpful.
He's straightforward when he responds and responds rather quickly.I work night so i messaged him at 2am and he answered me at 4 am which surprised. He grades pretty fairly just gotta do the work. He also gives chances to bring up assignments usaully before proctored exams. i would have him as a teacher again.
Professor was clear on announcements and replied to emails in a timely manner. Extra Credit was offered as well.
As someone who doesn't like math at all, i found the professor to be very helpful and made the material easy to understand. He also gives amnesty periods where we can go back and redo any unfinished assignments or assignments with low grades, so that was very helpful as well.
Professor Burch was quick to respond to communication and followed up. Extra credit was offered at different stages of the course. The class was online and as such video lectures were provided along with additional PowerPoints and links to videos which were helpful. I would take another course that was led by Professor Burch.
Andy Burch does a great job at explaining the content of the class and responds quickly to questions about content and specific assignments. He allows many opportunities for extra credit and has a straight forward leniency for late assignments.
Andy way of teaching could be a hit or miss depending on how you learn math. If you need thorough explanation I would not recommend this class. I found myself having to teach myself a lot, even after spending hours on notes and homework. Overall, he's doing the best he can.
He's ok. I had already basically learned the material a year prior in high school, and I just took this class for the college credit. Many lectures that take a while to watch, even at 2x speed, but the homework is very consistent. The grading criteria is as clear as any math class; exams are most of the grade, homework and notes much less.
Kinda a heavy load of work, you'll have an assignment 4 days out of the week and there can be multiple in one day if you work as well it can get a lot to maintain at times. He communicates well anytime I had a question, wouldn't pick him as a professor again though.
He is very organized, gives clear directions on what is expected. The professor is also really understanding that life happens!
I appreciate a fast response to emails!
I appreciate the fast response to emails.
This professor is alright at teaching, but when it comes to midterms they give you a review with 50 questions and note card to write down but midterm has 17 questions so you never really know if what you wrote down on the note card will help you. It all really matters that if you take time for yourself to go ahead and study until it becomes natural
This teacher is pretty good,he does his job well. Even though I think this class is a bit hard for me, only because I'm not so good at math, I still think he does his job well. Workload isn't too much either. He even set up notes for us to fill in, which makes it easier to take notes and have what is needed. I'd say this class is pretty manageable.
He's a good teacher, workload isn't too overwhelming. The exam reviews can be a little easier and have questions that'll actually be on the test. But overall, the class is manageable enough.
Andrew's tests are worth 50% of your grade, there are only two, and he doesn't really do a fantastic job of covering the material beforehand. His video lectures tend to gloss over important topics, and he expects you to know the subject well before taking the class. There's definitely better options.
Two tests taken during the course are worth 50 percent of the final grade.
I really enjoyed his class. We did not need to buy a textbook, he created written notes for us to print and they were so helpful! His class can be challenging if you do not take the time to actually study. He was always so fast when it came to responding my messages and helping me out. He is also very understanding and patient!
Is a great teacher, friendly, respectful, and always willing to help you with any questions or concerns.
Good teacher, I took an online course, so not much interaction. Don't just use the review to study for the midterm; you must know how to do everything, even stuff that was not directly taught. He may combine 2 concepts on you, so make sure you know what to do.
He was a good teacher and responded to all my emails with a decent time. However, I do feel like he could do a better job at preparing each student for the midterm a bit better instead of just make videos for the notes. The class is very easy to manage online but I wish the assignment were more divided equally out through the week. Good at teaching
Mr. Burch is really professional and straightforward with assignments. He is very specific and clear when teaching, especially during an online course and is able to go into detail with any problem that involves multiple steps in order to solve it. Mr. Burch makes sure to add any additional videos to ensure you succeed in the course!
Professor Burch grades and answers messages rather quickly. Gave many opportunities for students to get a good grade.
Taking the online course currently and so far everything has been going well, if you need additional help you can set up a meeting with him. He does also provide extra help videos if you need them. I would say that the computer gives issues sometimes but have never had an issue with professor Burch himself.
Notes are a necessity for this class. Tons of work. Gives extra credit assignments at the beginning of the class. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. It helps you out in the end if you do well on tests and homework.
Professor Burch responds extremely fast to every message in our conversations. Just be clear and thorough in your responses since math can get complicated. Use pictures when necessary.
He is super nice. Responds quick. Gives extra credit opportunities. Helps when needed.
Easy class just homework almost everyday that you need to print out.
This professor is fast at responding!
professor lectures didn't cover all HW and test material. I probably learned more from youtube videos
responds quickly
Be ready for lecture and homework, its alot but doable if you stay ahead. He gives alot of extra credit chances so take advantage. He gives you alot of resources to help. Keep with it and you can pass with an A.
He was fine.
Mr.Burch is quick with giving feedbacks.
This professor is nice very respectful. Sometimes the lessons are a little fast, but just by taking your time going through it it will make sense at one point.
The class is decent overall. My only issue is that each module covers so much material that it can be hard to keep up. It would help if the homework included some visual guides and interactive quizzes for when you get stuck, since some of the assignments don't seem to align directly with the lessons.
This professor is incredibly knowledgeable in the subject they are teaching but, unfortunately the online lessons do not provide enough information to complete all of the homework. The lectures will often have over-simplified examples of problems you will face in the homework and the additional resources provided don't give much guidance either.
Teacher is able to provide his knowledge about how to solve all of the math lessons we have gone over. Shares online videos and makes you print the guided notes to turn in as a part of homework.
Great professor but gives lots of homework. Online videos that go in depth and explain lessons very well with examples. Great teacher.
This professor is very fair when it comes to class work. If you fully participate in class by completing both the lectures and homework, and take your time to study the material, then overall you should be fine. He is very fair when it comes to grading, and the lectures are quite easy to understand.
Does have a decent amount of notes
Has been a great professor so far!!
This professor is so nice and and gives chances to make up work which I really love!
He's amazing and understands your needs
The professor is easy to get in contact with and communicates quite well with announcements; late passes are allowed.
He's a good professor easy going, lots of extra credit.
Allows late passes, video lessons are easy to go along with, additional help from PowerPoints, and weekly quizzes.
Not a ridiculously hard course, just a lot of content to keep up with and have to stay fresh for tests. Teacher has a lot of helpful videos and additional videos for information you may be struggling with. He also allows for late passes on almost every single assignment which is also helpful. Course is also very test heavy so prepare for them.
This course is very time consuming.
Notes are crucial.
Online, the class isn't terrible. Usually about three note pages and three sections of homework a week, with a quiz after every section. The homework can be a bit difficult; sometimes what's discussed in the notes doesn't fully cover what's in the homework. The midterm and final are in-person, so if you plan to miss or skip them, you'll fail.
Took this class online. All messaging, grading, lectures, and notes are on MOER. The work is tough, but the grades are pretty self explanatory. The lectures are sometimes hard to understand, but again I took this class completely online so I wasn't able to ask questions in the moment or anything, but he also offers resources to help as well.
Professor Burch provides all the tools for success, but your effort determines your results. He also offers late passes, each granting 48 extra hours to submit assignments if unexpected issues arise—for example, homework due Friday can be turned in by Sunday with a late pass.
Set aside more time than you think for assignments.
The course is manageable. Of you plan your time wisely and consistently practice, you should be perfectly okay.
As long as you do your homework you're good
He is a good teacher the math is hard but if you put in the time to study you will be okay. Just know you definitely need to have time to study for this class other wise it wont be good, because if you do not pass the midterm or the final you will not pass the class.
I appreciate the fact that the professor provides plenty of examples with videos and PowerPoints. I also appreciate the fact that the professor offers lots of late passes because sometimes life happens and assignments are missed out on. Difficult class but very challenging learning wise.
This is my first year of college! The teacher was very understanding, and offered a ton of opportunities before exams.
Professor Burch is very straightforward and clear about what it takes to do well in his class. At the same time he is very understanding when it comes to deadlines.
I never had to deal with him, so I said average for the professor's difficulty.
Professor Burch is very clear on his grading, and he is understanding as well. He does give opportunities to better your grade and go back and redo assignments and gives lots of examples and help.
He did not required textbooks, he made his own note packet and it was literally a life saver! He was always so quick and willing to help me out with any questions I had. He was also very clear when teaching the class. Very respectful and outgoing!
Gave many opportunities for students to receive a good grade.
Didnt interact with him much but he did always keep the class updated about deadlines
He's a good professor who gives lots of resources, his lectures aren't bad, but the workload is. Expect to be working 10+ hours at least a week on this class. The final/midterm is 50% which is unfair considering the work load. The homework also is different from the lectures so teaching yourself half the material is a pain. Don't recommend.
Don't recommend.
Great content and super helpful when It comes to just learning the material, no fluff. Just good teaching.
Just videos and notes, math is math. Not really a wrong way to teach math, just have to find the right one for each student. He used lots of examples in his videos, but not much help outside that.
