This professors knows how to teach and explains it for ur understanding awesome pro wish more prosessors were like him in york
He is a great professor...very diligent in notes...always helping students
he is a goog professor. you would not have any problems except that you have to read the books and understand it well. note; make sure you go to him in person if do not understand the material well.
keep up with the work from day one! he helps a lot with the extra credits and the lab homeworks. Also he is always available. He was amongst the greatest teachers I ever had so far.
You definitely need to work hard in this course, however, Dr. Criss makes the material so much easier. Thank god for his notes! They're clear and straight to the point. He's one of the best professors I've had and plus he's nice to look at :)
uses difficult words that makes the course very hard to comprehend.
Don't do it to yourself. He's hard. So much material. Students fail his quizzes. Each test covers 4 chapters! Everyone cheat and he doesn't even notice! The ones that don't cheat are the ones that suffer. Good luck.
Ok Keep in mind that hes teaching A&P ....its hard but keep with the work from day one and ask for help if you need it ...he makes very good use of his blackboard USE IT ..helps a ton ..
you think you know the stuff you study and you do all he says for helpful tips on test taking ...then the exam comes and he makes it so difficult/tricky that you feel as if your in another country and you dont speak the language.... its as if you never studied =/
He's actually a prof. who goes out of his way for his students. If u onli study his slides and other info he points out in class, u should be fine. It def. helps if u get past exams from others who took his class cuz he tends to repeat questions off of them, esp. the open ended ones. Gl!
he is such a great professor :) with lots of knowledge, straight forward and clear, just study his notes and look at his previous exams and A is guaranteed good luck!
great to look at, but requires alot of studying in order to pass unless you are lucky enough to get past tests from others, if not his tests are very tricky, and will shock you on hoew much detail he goes into with his questions. good luck, anatomy is hard either way, but he definetly is a challenge!
He makes the tests very tricky but he will always answer your questions if you need help with anything especially in lab. He takes his tests from powerpoint slides and he goes into detail and you need to read his questions carefully. An A+ is attainable if you memorize his slides and read the textbook to clarify some of the harder topics
I will begrudgingly admit that Dr. Criss is a decent professor. Even though he is difficult and expects the world from you, he doesn't do so without actually being there to answer your questions and to clarify materials. If you take him, be prepared to work your butt off...eat, sleep and breathe what he teaches you and you'll do fine.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! His lectures are clear and you feel like you understand everything but the minute you get the exam it's like you never even studied. His exams are extremely tricky they have absolutely nothing to do with the review sheets. I had to withdraw from the class to avoid messing up my GPA. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.
Lectures are clear but exams are extremely tricky. He rarely answers emails. If you need help ask the questions after class or go to his office hrs.Don't expect his online quizzes to be similar to his exams and in class quizzes.Study his Power points in and out word for word and not just his Study Guide. Not an easy grader. You have been warned!
ABSOLUTELY do not take this professor. He does not teach correlating with the textbook, He is all over the place, which makes studying extremely difficult. His lectures are easy to understand, but his tests are incredibly difficult and he asks questions about the smallest details. He also does not give back previous tests to study for the final.
All I have to say is his tests are confusing ! On it surprises you with a lot so you would really have to study everything, INCLUDING the charts !!!
He's not a bad professor, he just has to get through so much material. You have to either read ahead, or follow up his lectures with studying. He introduces it so you can understand it better when you study, don't expect to just go to class and learn everything. If I didn't study consistently I would not have even passed.
Prof. Criss is very challenging. Although you might not be guaranteed and A n the class, you are guaranteed KNOWLEDGE! He is so passionate & is always willing to further explain. His exams are super tough but MEMORIZE his slides & understand it all. Quizzes online are straight forward & Lab is very easy if you study A LOT!
Prof. Criss definitely knows what he is taking about but is better fit for a higher level biology class. He's not very helpful nor understanding. You're better off reading on your own before class and taking your own notes. The book will give you a much better answer than he could being that his answers are meant for higher level bio students.
Dr. Criss is very approachable. He has a knack to make such a difficult class so lively and fun. I enjoyed every minute of it. However, to do well you must study before coming to class or else you will feel somewhat lost. His tests come straight off the power points... I would definitely take him for A&P2 if he taught it.
His lectures are confusing, he teaches as if youre in a higher level bio class. Doesnt really explain the material, just reads off the PowerPoints which he posts online. He speeds through the PowerPoints and only gives two tests for the semester, not including the final. For each test there is so much information, each test covers 7-10 chapters.
Do NOT take him if you want to pass Bio 201!!! He is an EXTREMELY tough teacher, he crams a lot of material on the online quizzes that will take you days to even pass. He teachers the material in such a confusing difficult way, and his tests are very hard as wel!! He expects you to keep up with these HARD online quizzes which is almost impossible.
Reads directly off slides. Not helpful at all.
I was completely lost I wish I could get a good grade. You could use hope.
Exams are tough but if you study, you should be fine! Don't be afraid to ask him questions.
Tests are so hard. I regret to study for this class at the wrong way. Giving out extra credit but he changed his mind and NOT TO TAKE IT! One good thing is 5 point curve does help a lot.
Very intelligent, but very detailed in his exams! They count for majority of the grade, so do anything below an 80, you'll get a C. Read, read, and read! Very strict on academic integrity, and lectures are extremely long
Let me be clear -Dr. Criss is NOT an easy A. But you will definitely learn because he is a great lecturer and can keep your attention if you're interested in the class. He's very helpful. His exam questions are very detailed so you can't skip a single thing when studying. Take notes efficiently, but whatever you do, DON'T SLACK OFF!
You have to really study for his class. The tests come from the powerpoints, his assignments online just might save your butt if you do good on them. He also curves grades and gives 3 points extra. Study and read alot. It's also important to pass lab because it's apart of your lecture grade. They combine. Good luck fellow students.
I am going to be completely honest okay, Dr. Criss knows his stuff point blank. He's an intelligent professor, he knows how to explain his notes, feel free to ask him questions because he won't mind answering them. In order to pass his exams, you MUST study, so be prepared to read, read, read. I'm taking him for A&P I and I'm getting an A-
Goes by Doctor Criss. Very tough exams. Final was 90 questions and it was fair. Lectures are very interesting filled with a lot of info. Take good notes. Ask questions and participant it help you to understand the topic more. Over hes a tough professor because he's explains anatomy in life expectancies compared to other professors.
Dr. Criss was an amazing professor. He gives detailed review sheets that are similar to the test, which most professors do not do. He gives clear grading criteria and has a curve on each test. Also the final grade is also curved. Going to class is not necessary but he stresses the important information that is presented on test.
very hard exams, be ready! study study study. Pay attention in class, he has great amount of knowledge!
Professor Criss is a great professor, if you really want to learn Biology. You undergraduates stop wasting time this is not high school.
Dr. Criss is a great professor. His lectures are long and he goes VERY fast. He answers questions so raise your hand! His online quizzes help, but you have to do a lot on your own to study! Knowing material rather than memorization. Theory over details. Pay attention to what he omits and what he stresses for the tests!
He's a great professor, the material he teaches is just hard. Its more of knowing than memorization. This course has tons of materials with tons of reading and studying. His test arent that bad since he gives a study guide which looks a lot like the exam, but studying is still required because the material is difficult. He will answer your question
He does not give the same test questions every semester he gives similar questions words are little switched up. Be careful if you using his old exams to study. Do not depend on him. His power points are little helpful but also study the topics he covers from your textbook. Do not take it over the summer if you don't have good study skills
Hardest professor I've taken! I've had Bio, Patho, Micro, Genetics, Chemistry with all A's and this was byfar the only course I truly struggled with. There is A LOT of content for each exam that are based off of concept, very difficult. A lot of reading, not enough to memorize. Lectures are long but homework is fair. I took as summer course.
He is really a great professor, but his tests are hard. Study a lot and you will be fine.
He is extremely tough and does not care if you are trying. He grades strict and gives no extra credit. He is not willing to help students. His explanations are unclear. He reads directly off the powerpoints, how is that supposed to help?Study guides dont help because none of it is on the test Just do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY!! thank me later!
He is passionate about his class & he put his time; his office is always open. Go to him to clarify the questions you get wrong on the exam, he will explain clearly. Some exam's questions are in the final but asked differently to test understanding of the concept. Compared to other bio professors, he explains very well. Listen to his hints in lect!
This class is extremely difficult. If possible, take this course with another professor. If you work full time or have other obligations then you have to take this course by itself. If you have to take this course with this professor then be prepared to teach yourself. Study guides are not straight forward.
Professor Criss tries his best to make a difficult course easy and manageable for students. Its just that the content and load of the course is lot of material. He however tries his best by giving detail explanations and review sheet. He is also easily available after classes. If u are prepared to put in a lot of work u will definitely be rewarded
Dr. Criss is a good professor who provides review sheets for his exams. There is one in class quiz that has to do with the cranial nerves and their functions. His exams are hard and the homework is sometimes tricky. I would have done better in this class is I studied the PowerPoint slides more, since he is detail oriented.
One of the best professors at York thus far. His exams are straight forward. Study all the powerpoints thoroughly. He provides review sheets and has 4 exams, none dropped, but the exams are easy if you study, it is anatomy. Some extra stuff from the power points are asked that are not on the review sheet but it wasn't hard. He's nice and engaging.
One of my favorite professors! He is straight forward, and will always be open to questions. He has 3 exams and a final for lecture (none dropped), and 5 lab exams (1 dropped). He also gives quizzes at the end of each chapter he covers in class.
I had him for lab.. he wasnt that bad. He tells u whats gonna be on the exams.
Always a pleasure coming to class. Lecture and lab is great with him, the only negative thing is the class in general. It's a really hard class tbh. His exams will be the end of you. Alot of memorization. This class slowly kills me. But I do highly recommend this professor!!
Great Professor, great at teaching, and if you have questions he always answers. The class is hard itself, but the Professor is great!
Anat & Phys is already a hard subject, so just know that you will have to study your butt off regardless of who you take. However, Dr. Criss breaks down the material and his exams are based off of the ppt slides. He is caring and will answer any questions you have!
Pretty good professor. Gives you all the material you need to pass, just moves a bit too fast during lectures.
Lots of lectures and a lot of memorization, but Dr. Criss is an extremely cool and humble guy and he does what he can to make material easy for students to remember. Tests are easy to fail so make sure you study, and he makes his own tests, but this class is designed to weed out the lazy and unmotivated. Just dedicate time to studying. Grade: B+
I took professor Criss under e-permit for both Anatomy 1 and 2 and I didn't get a chance to rate him. All I can say is that he's hands down the best professor I've ever taken, his lectures are really great and he wants everyone to pass. The material is hard but he tries to make it as easy as possible. Overall great professor.
His recorded lectures are ok, except for the ones on digestion and the reproductive system (that quickly come to mind). He doesn't seem to read the discussion board posts and his exam reviews, while needed to do decent on his exams, aren't an accurate portrayal of what he actually tests on. Prepare to be frustrated and email him a lot.
He is hands down the best professor I have taken at York college. His exams are straightforward and easy to understand if you attend the lectures. His Lab classes are also so much fun and he makes learning anatomy easy.
Professor Andrew Criss is an intelligent, understandable, and helpful person. My advice is to 'read' the chapters from the textbook, don't depend on his powerpoint(it is only for guidance). Also, practice questions from quiz let and the textbook. He speaks clear and fluent English and tries his best to deliver his lecture content.
This class will is very intense , you will be required to study, a lot. However, professor Criss makes sure that his students understand the information. If you study and go to tutoring you will pass. He is very helpful if you need his assistance and easy to reach. If you're taking any BIO class and he's NOT teaching it, take it at your own risk
This class is by no means easy; that is just the nature of the course. But Dr. Criss makes it very digestible and has a passion for what he teaches. He curves if he feels the average is low and is always ready to help his students. What a gem, it is not everyday you have a health professions professor who cares.
Great lecturer. So engaging, rally makes the material approachable and does everything he can to help his students learn. It's a hard class no matter who's teaching but Dr. Criss really goes the extra mile to make it fun and manageable. Test reviews are accurate and grading is fair. I wish every prof was as good. Take his class you wont regret it.
This man is amazing at what he does, you can tell he has a real passion for teaching. He tries his best to teach a difficult subject in an accessible manner. I wish I would have done better in lab and on my final to really get the grade I was aiming for but nonetheless, I do not regret taking Criss for A/P1 and now I am taking him for A/P2.
If Extra was a person he would be it! He is a very nice person and truly cares about his work but he makes it harder than it should be. He uses multiple applications for assignments (BB, Pearson, VisibleBody & worksheets)- therefore the work is piled up. I would advise against taking any other science course if taking him for AP1 or AP2
He is a very kindhearted professor and will show us his pets on camera if they come in the room. However, he used a lot of programs for homework, quizzes, and testes, its confusing to keep up with it. It almost feels you are taking 2 extra classes. However, he will do his best to explain and is patient. It would be tough if you work part time.
I had professor Criss for a summer session. It was extremely difficult because he goes super fast. I sent him an important email and he never responded. He gives no extra credit and visible body assignments are very hard to do because its hard to locate body parts on the images they give you. I only recommend him if you are already an AP wiz.
Great professor. Straight forward. There are no surprises. Either you know it or you don't. He makes sure his students know the material and will help if you need it. You will work for the grade. No freebies.
Dr. Criss knows his stuff well. You will learn a lot in his class. It will help you be prepared if you are planning on applying for professional programs like PA school, Medical schools, Dental school, nursing programs etc.
Prof criss was a very knowledgeable prof, and i was taught a lot. But his exams were SO intense, i'm talking 75 questions in an hour and 15 min, i also took him for the lab which was in person and it was very intense. each table was timed 3 min and u could not go back to review ur answers. overall he was very smart prof but get ready to put in work
I Think that his lectures are decent, and you will learn a lot however his review sheets do not help at all. I think in a class that is so informationally dense providing a decent review for your students can help and he didn't do that. His final review sheet is absolutely no help so don't even bother looking at it just review all your notes.
I took Anatomy 1 with Professor Criss over the summer and I really enjoyed his class. He clearly explained topics very well and was organized. Every test was curved and he gave many chances for extra credit. All his test questions were based off the slides he provides and what he says during class. If you put in the work, you will do very well.
GREAT! Dr. Criss is very knowledgeable & knows what he's teaching. He is very lenient and will work with you to help bring your grade up PROVIDED you are actually trying & doing your best. I had him for Lab. The exams were practical and about 60-75 questions fill in. There was no word banks. You either studied hard & did well or you didn't & failed
He shoves 5 chapters into one exam and you really need to study everything. His review sheets are terrible!! just take a lot of notes. I emailed him so many times and he never got back to me. Don't take this professor because you will regret it!!!
One of YC greatest professors, Dr.Andrew Criss his very respectful and very well knowledgeable professor. His exams very fair and based on his lectures, and slices(very clear). He provides websites, online apps, and worksheets that are very helpful! You can easily pass the class if you study those.Taking him you won't regret. His the best A&P professor.
Dr.Criss has terrible organization. His overall average for the class kept decreasing throughout the semester and instead of him asking what he is doing wrong he constantly blames us. No point of going to lecture except the attendance. Don't bother using the study guides either, they are either not updated or missing the most important subjects
He is an awesome professor. It is a biology class so you have to naturally study a lot. 70-80 fill in the blanks questions for practical. Gave a bunch of extra credit questions during the practicals. A lot of self-studying!! Kinda confusing because he uses multiple platforms to assign hw! Take him he's good but be ready to study!
Although Dr. Criss was an excellent lecturer, there wasn't much participation in the class and he relied heavily on his PowerPoints. His tests were a little challenging, but if you study hard, you will understand the content. He also held office hours. The majority of his class mark is based on the exams you take.
He wasn't the best at lectures and didn't explain the topics well, at least for me. He would sit in his chair most of the time and read from the slides. He gave about 50 questions for each test, all from 4 chapters ( he will add some images to label). His review sheet wasn't helpful at all. Overall, his teaching style wasn't great.
i took him for fall sem 2023. he is a very good lab professor, everything was straightforward. His study guide was clear and everything that was on it was on the exam. Doesn't try to trick you. Just study the study guide and you will do good in his class. If you don't understand something, tell him. He wants to make sure all his students excel.
I wouldn't say he is a "great" professor, he is at best mediocre. He rushes through the lectures and oftentimes doesn't explain a few of the concepts thoroughly. Personally, I found Bio 234 a little challenging because I am more detail-oriented when I study and this class was very broad. I didn't like the way he taught
Very passionate about what he teaches, and the material is very very interesting. It is a science class, so don't expect it to be a walk in the park. Tests were tricky sometimes but they tested whether or not you mastered the material. Lab also is very helpful since it carries your grade and can boost you up. Taking again for A&P 2 and very excited
Dr. Criss was one of the best professors ive taken for a science class. Coming from QC as an epermit student, I knew sciences would be difficult but Dr. Criss well prepared us by telling us exactly what we need to know. This is Anatomy so it is very lecture heavy, but follow his study guides and his slides and you will be fully covered for the exam
he's a very sweet guy but his lectures felt all over the place. his tests were about 4-5 chapters for each exam. you will definitely have to look back on the slides consistently and those are extremely long. def put a lot of effort !!! maybe he wasn't fit for me learning style which is why i didn't have the best experience but he's cool.
Very charismatic and straightforward professor! He clearly states what will be on the exams during his lab lectures. Personally, I pick up material very easily so I really only studied a few hours before the exams. However, I never missed a lab lecture, so it reinforces the information.
