Dr. C easily has the best lectures I've ever had the privilege to be in. Interesting material complete with fun videos. Great handouts too.Follow the study guide and you can't go wrong. The projects are nicely divided that go right along with the lectures
Great teacher,EXCELLENT use of technology and integrated learning. Balls to the walls tough though....if you want to learn check him out
AWESOME PROF!!! Tough but fair. If you want an easy A, take someone else. If you want to work hard but learn a ton, take Dr. C.
Great Guy, but he's VERY difficult. His tests are VERY hard.
I just took Dr. C's winterim class. I agree with the others that he's tough, but I learned a ton. I'm switching my major to marketing because of this class! Oh and one more thing, buy your book on Half.Com to save $$$.
Took over the winterim. Was really hard on me, not really recommended for people who don't like marketing. Some items were basic but it felt like we were rushing to get through things in the short classes and I don't think we learned everything on the test beforehand.
You have to really work to get an A, but he's one of those great professors who teaches you about alot more than just the subject area of the class. Keep in mind when you choose to do the group project individually, IT'S A TON OF WORK. You might be better off in a group
Dr C is a tough teacher. Gave a project that you could only use like 5 computers on campus to complete. Not very understanding for full time workers/students. Really knows his stuff but it is a tough course with a lot of work. His case assignments are pretty easy but you are graded based on your peers.
Dr C is terrible. He is really up to date on technology and issues involving international marketing but talks about himself and the magnificent Thunderbird school of management half the semester. Choda Boy knows his stuff but can't really teach a 2 and a half hour class. Seems like a C-List Actor to me.
A grade prof. to be sure. Dr. C knows his stuff, has a PH.D in Marketing, is a great teacher, and a nice guy to boot. It's (winterim marketing class) not as hard of a class as I thought it would be, but definitely takes some work.
This proffesor is pretty strict. If you are expecting an easy A, to whiz through the material, don't take him. Everyone was telling me how easy it was, and I would have would have to strongly disagree.
Dr. C is a highly knowledgeable professor and carries the same high expectations of his students. His tests are like most in business, composed primarily of common sense and business jargon. The 20 page project can be difficult to balance if you're taking the interim course as the deadline is pressing. Overall good professor.
Worst professor ever! Sent everyone an email stating he would curve the exam, but never did. Should not teach so many classes that he is not on top of things and has to depend on TA. Took forever to grade anything.
What a great professor! i learned su much, his power points are interactive, the class is interactive and he makes you apply what you learn in real life situations. He does talk a lot but the exams, small assignments, and class participation was easy. The project is intense!! but u apply everything uve learned! get the book... really great class!
oh anf by the way, this class is not as hard as everyone told me it was going to be. sure its not easy, but if you take the summer class all the information is fresh in your mind and easy to remeber. the projects is very time consuming, but the class itself is fun, interactive, and easy. Put effort into it though. definitely recommend
This teacher was a very nice guy but structured his class very badly. his point distribution was not to any ones benifit with a 25% for the first exam and 35% for the final. 30%went to the project that took way to long to do for a summer class. he also does not do what he says, he puts on a fake face, do not take his class!
Pretty good professor. It was a lot of work (but i had the class over a 3 week interim). I learned a lot and I liked the way he ran class. It was participatory and his power-points were informative and interactive. I really liked that he showed tons of ads because it was entertaining and made it easier to understand the concepts.
I took Dr. C's Brand Management Class and Learned a ton. His knowledge is beyond just the textbook information. He applies marketing concepts to real life situations. You will work hard in the class, but will know the subject well. His lectures and media examples are always interesting. I didn't sleep in his class.
he is your typical professor or should I say "Dr" to you! heavy on theory light on real business experience.
Great professor. I liked how he pushed us to do good research. This is a guy that has done some cool international jobs and will push you to excel. He says the tests are hard but I didn't think they were bad. The research project was the biggest thing. Make sure you do well on graphics with all your papers (he is a marketing guy)...
I would vote him a "do not take" and agree with the dr. Comment below. Always referring to his "consulting" work whatever that may be???
If you are not lazy, take all of his classes. He is REALLY good if you do your part. His classes are very interesting.
This is probably the best class I've ever taken. Professor C. makes Marketing extremely interesting and fun. There's videos clips that go with his lectures to help better understand the content. He curves his exams by not counting some questions a lot of people missed. If you have to take this course, make sure it's Professor C.
He is the worst professor that I have had in my 3.5 years at this school. He demeans any majors except marketing. Who cares about Thunderbird!! I had never even heard of that school until he mentioned it in class.
Dr. C was the best professor I had at UCCS. I also took him for MKTG4550 (brand management) over spring break. I don't know what class the other rater sat in, but everyone I talked with thought this was an amazing class. I couldn't imagine having a marketing degree without taking the branding class.
Worst teacher, and worst experience thus far at this school. He was not helpful at all when it came to answering questions about the project that is worth 30% of the final grade. Something is wrong when a straight A student throughout high school at 2 years of college is struggle to retain a C in this class. I would not recommend this class!
I am not a fan of his teaching methods. He was not clear with instruction yet he had a lot of expectations. He expects expert work even though the time and resources available will not allow for it. He talks to the end of each class and is strict on attendance and tardiness. Make sure you print the notes before class in order to fill them in.
Dr. C is an excellent professor - one of the best I've had at UCCS. His Study Guide makes studying for the exams easy. His lectures kept my attention the whole time. I feel like I learned a ton.
Not sure what he loves more, the field of marketing, or himself. He plays favorites and will only pick on those favorites for answers, thus hindering your participation points. He loves to interrupt your answers to tell you his point of view. Knows his stuff, but his negative attributes makes it difficult to learn.
Dr. C was the most real world professor I've had at UCCS. All of his examples were amazing. I learned a ton - would highly recommend. Probably the best professor at UCCS.
Horrible class. Ridiculous tests, terrible group projects, worst marketing professor at UCCS. Avoid, Avoid, AVOID!!!!!
Really enjoyed this class. He makes the concepts very tangible. If you complete the study guide the tests should be a breeze. He is good about communicating with the class regularly, which is very important for online courses.
Hothead. Wrong often, but don't ever try to correct or disagree with what he says, he takes it personally. Classic undeserved sense of self accomplishment. He talks the entire period, leaves a couple minutes to 'participate' and then marks off people because he didn't leave enough time for them to participate. Avoid this guy like the plague.
Horrible professor. Always backing up his information by saying "studies show..." but doesn't actually show where he is getting the info. He blatantly ignores students comments or marks them as false and moves on. Very closed minded and likes to hear himself talk.
I was so excited to take this class. I thought it was going to be fun and interesting. Dr. C is crazy. He wants you to be creative with your projects, but he has so many rules and guidelines it stifles creativity. Never disagree with him. He will rip you apart in front of the class, even if you are correct and he's wrong. Don't take him.
Just completed the online version of Marketing. Enjoyed the course and learned a lot. The case analysis projects and discussions were engaging and thought provoking. Reviewing his study guides is the key to doing well on his exams. I found his feedback to be constructive and fair. I would recommend him.
Dr. C is awesome! For me it was an easy A. Just take good notes and follow his study guide for the exams. He also helped me get an interview and a job offer.
This is my third course with Dr. C and he has been my favorite prof thus far. You put in what you get out. He doesn't try to trick you on exams and he does appreciate thinking outside the box on case studies. He is a stickler for following the rules, but they're not difficult to follow. He's also very available if you need help.
The majority of class was just him talking about all the people he knows who have done this and that. Terrible teacher who doesn't care about his students. AVOID IF POSSIBLE
Professor seemed very good at first. But for the team project that was work like 30% of the grade he grades harsh, and when I asked what was wrong with it all he said was some parts were good and some parts were not. The teacher is not good AVOID if you can. AVOID! plus if you do not participate every class you will not get any participation pts.
I took this class at 8 am, but was able to stay awake with the entertaining commercials he showed us that are within the slideshow. I followed the format of examples he gave us very closely for the marketing audit and got a fantastic grade. He gives study guides for his test. However, 5% of the grade is participation.
Lectures are fun, and enticed me to change my major to Marketing.
We recently had a quiz where less than 50% of the class got three of the questions correct. He re-read the questions and felt like they were fair. They were "choose the BEST answer" and confusing. He said to appeal to him with a better answer but there was no way to look at the question again (quiz was taken down) in order to appeal.
As a result of this class, I want to work in advertising or promotions in some way. Dr. C was amazing - best prof I've had at UCCS. I read the book and paid attention in class. It was tough but I got an A. He does want students to participate. Plan to raise your hand in every class to get the participation points.
Dr. C was an amazing professor, by far on of the best I have had here at UCCS. He was very clean on his expectations and was always willing to help students whenever they needed it. He also gave very good constructive feedback regarding our project. Definitely would recommend him to anyone!
Czaplewski does a fairly good job making his lectures bearable. Other than that he's: a hand-holder, obsessive about how you format weekly Discussion Questions, never puts grades on Blackboard, treats the class like it's a room of toddlers, and gives a hokey, run of the mill group project worth 40% of your grade. Anybody could teach like he does.
It was a great class. Dr. C made learning fun. I can really use a lot of what I learned in my career.
Mr. C is absolutely amazing,I highly recommend to others! He is easy to get a hold of and quick to respond. Each week there small assignments, but they are online and you get 2 attempts to do them. The exams are set up very well, he labels each question by which module it referred to making easy to refer back to your notes. He wants us to pass!
He requires that students follow a VERY specific format in writing papers-elementary and ridiculous for graduate level! Not accustomed to being challenged and ramps up quickly when taken to task. I'm likely one of very few who have ever given him a dose of his own medicine. Loves to talk about himself, his "worldly" experiences, etc.
Dr. C was great, this class was great, and very useful for the future. I'd totally take it again. But beware, the big end of semester group project is a monster. Don't leave it to the last week, because you won't finish it. Look at the examples as soon as he posts them and tremble. But hey, you'll totally be able to show it off to employers later.
I enjoyed this professor. He is very intelligent and FULL of information. In addition to learning all about marketing, I learned so extra information, but he still managed to get all of the content in and stay on schedule. Additionally, he's easy to talk to, gets to know you by name by the second day and is understanding.
I have never received ZERO feedback for an entire class before -- we turned in our group project in sections, and we never even received confirmation that the pieces had been turned in, let alone feedback on how we were doing. It's a week after the class ended and I have no grades available, still! Interesting material, horrible professor.
So far the best MBA class I've had. Dr. C's weekly overviews of the material were excellent. I learned a ton about marketing.
I loved Dr. C's lectures. He's funny and uses a lot of examples. They are really practical and not a bunch of theory. He obviously cares about students and even passed on a couple job opportunities in the advertising field.
Dr. C was awesome. This was my first marketing class. It far exceeded my expectations. The class was well-structured and delivered.
Stay away from Czaplewski. His lectures are long and boring, he goes off on random tangents and likes to talk about himself. He is a really hard grader and expects you to figure everything out on your own. Waits until very last minute to put in grades. Got my first B+ from this terrible class.
Dr. C was great. He gives tons of examples so his lectures are not boring at all. I liked the IMC project and my team got a perfect score. Start putting your paper together early so you aren't rushed at the end. That made the paper pretty easy in the end.
The discussions he makes you participate in gets a bit redundant due to classmates uploading the same material, but that's not really the professor's fault. He's quick to respond to e-mails outside of class. Exams are closed book but are all multiple choice and the questions are very direct. Easy enough class to take online.
Online class mad 5 discussions worth about 15% of your grade, with like 10 things per discussion. Mid Term was 23% of your grade, final was 32% of your grade. Tests were super specific and you had to read between the lines. Not like the material you learned in class.
Dr. C is the best professor I had at UCCS. His classes are high energy with a lot of stuff that is not in the book. I'm now using what he taught almost everyday in my new job. His class was the most practical one I had.
Dr. C is tough. Has a lot of rules (which seem pretty narrow for a master's class). Rigid. But expectations are clear and learning opportunity is great. I'd take him again, but I wouldn't like the seemingly juvenile rules he forces grown men/women to follow without exception.
You will have to do a hw assignment each week from the textbook related to the topic for that week, but they're easy. You're also in a group all semester long and have assigned seats. The exams are fairly hard, so make sure you study and listen well to the lectures (hint: the videos or ad samples shown). Show up to class and take good notes
Dr. C is an excellent professor. He shows a lot of examples to make the abstract concrete. He clearly cares a lot about students' success beyond the course.
Get ready to read and study a ton for mid-term and final alot to go over, lessons are okay, read the chapters do the notes and module, study hints you will be fine.
never responses emails on time, no feedbacks for assignments. Terrible professor ever taken, never ever never ever take again. I never seen him as my course instructor since he did not teach anything else.
I learned nothing in this class.
Interesting subject, worst professor I have ever taken! Your work is tediously micro managed. Yet, don't expect to get any feedback to grow throughout the course. Your work is graded after the class concludes. Although knowledgeable, prepare to deal with his major ego. To pass, read all materials, study guilds, and form a group for study sessions.
Hes not necessarily a bad professor. Changed part of instructions for the group project the day before it was due. He said is was an error on his part: pretty lame excuse for a man with a doctorate. Assignments: easy. Uses study objectives and textbook for exam, which is helpful. But exam and group project not even graded a week after class ended.
As long as you study for exams using the textbook and his slides youll be fine, the assignments are easy. BUT YOU KNOW WHATS A PROBLEM? HIM NOT PUTTING IN GRADES!!!! CAN THIS BE ANY MORE LAME?
Honesty: he is knowledgeable, though he was very hands off and didnt communicate with students whatsoever. The assignments are all worth abt 5% of your grade, but the final project, midterm, and final exam make up majority. It has been a week since I took the final, still no grade for exam or project that determine if you pass or fail.
Honestly he was super laid-back and didnt require attendance which I rlly liked but he was also super test heavy and his tests were hard. There was also a huuuuge project at the end of the course and he literally almost failed me bc he put in the wrong grade for it. That made me mad bc like dude fr u have one job like just put in the grades
You would think someone with a Ph.D wouldn't turn in grades 2 hours before semester ends and would actually give feedback on a 300-point project, but who cares? Uses Lockdown Browser in class for 7-minute QUIZZES, "test integrity" some stuff like that. Makes fun of windows products but has to call I.T. when one of his stupid apple dongles wont work
Dr. C was the best professor I had in the MBA program at UCCS. The course was very well organized and everthing was straightforward. He helped me with career change options and ever proofread and made suggestions on my resume. He definitely went above and beyond for me.
He does not give clear feedback
Most unorganized class I've ever been in. 99% of students have no clue what's going on during this class.
Nobody in his class understood what he wanted us to do, honestly he just showed us a bunch of "Got Milk" advertisements, brought in guest speakers, and then sent us on our way to do a group project. Kind of made me want to unalive myself.
Course was well organized with clear instructions and grading criteria. Professor got back to me quickly with answers to all my questions.
Weekly discussion posts are required. At the end of the semester, he graded them and I got a 15/100 because I didn't include images in each post where he said it was "encouraged" to use images. He ignored the emails I sent him and it dropped my overall grade from 91% to 84%, because I didn't include an "encouraged" image in every weeks' post.
Absurd. 1,000 class points available, semester ended yesterday, and he has graded 200 points of assignments. He won't release scores for multiple choice quizzes until he reviews how everyone did. Zero feedback during the semester. Won't grade discussions until the course ends. You truly have no idea how you are doing at any point in time.
The class was very well organized. Criteria for all assignments was clearly explained. The professor allowed us to pick our own team if was wanted to. I got in a great group which made the research paper assignment go well.
Very nice guy who cares about students. You don't have to go to class, but he gives like 5 or 6 test questions every class that are almost the same on the exams. It was a lot of reading, but the study guide showed me what topics to focus on.
Doesn't grade anything until the end of the semester so you don't know how you're doing. Not good at giving feedback at all and doesn't stay true to his own instructions. Infuriating to learn from as he doesn't actually do any teaching. By far the worst professor I have ever had.
Was not a fan of him. Uses a lockdown browser and uses a camera. I know other people like him, but I did not find him helpful nor did I enjoy taking his class. For his class, make sure you read the syllabus over and over or it's going to bite you later.
I took this over the summer. Don't skip any assignments and it's a pretty easy A. The study guide shows what to study hard on for the exams.
literally explains nothing and fails you on everything. not nice at all either.
Cannot recommend against taking this professor enough! I am quite curious at the polarity of the reviews, which makes me WONDER. He is an extremely tough grader (3.5% TOTAL GRADE deductions for each paper deduction), pass/fail discussions, 800/1000 of total grade inserted ON THE LAST DAY! I would wait YEARS until alternatives became available!!
He is extremely nitpicky and likes to give students busywork. His examples of assignments are terrible and his grading rubric is unclear.
This professor thinks very highly of themselves. ZERO feedback during the semester. WAY too much de-centralization of course materials. I would never take this professor again. I wish there was a way to get this man fired. I would take a graduate marketing class at a different university and try to have the credits transferred
This isn't about my grade, as I got an A. Dr. C was one of the worst professors I've ever had. His criteria for pass/fail on discussion posts seemed arbitrary, and he rarely provided explanations. Final grades weren't shared until the last day when the majority was entered. Save a headache and DON'T take this course. No idea why rating is not lower
This professor is well-organized, but his email responses were slow. He requires the use of LockDown Browser and a camera during tests. The readings are overwhelming typically 2-4 chapters weekly and each module comes with a long list of questions and he adds even more reading. Heavy workload and a professor who takes himself too serious.
Sadly, I was looking forward to this class, but it was SUCH a disappointment. The lectures were so long and repetitive that I stopped listening to them. His grading doesn't seem consistent, and even though I thought my essays had "tie ins", he did not, so I received ZEROS on several assignments. NOT a great teacher and seems pretty full of himself.
I genuinely liked this class with Professor Czaplewski up until the final week when he gave multiple 0's on discussion posts. Does provide feedback. Tests are fine and he gives a 1 to 1 study guide (learning objective bullet points). If you just need to pass he's great, but if you want to get an A get ready for some heartache.
35% of the grade was the final exam....... didnt hear from the guy the entire course. Really a waste of an experience
The course was very well organized with clear expectations. The short videos gave a lot of tips on what to focus on. I had an excellent team for the marketing plan assignment, so that went really well.
Dr. C was a great professor that really sets you up to succeed. He gives you all the information you need as long as you go through everything he has assigned for the course. He has learning objective that really help with studying for exams. Highly recommend for a really straight-forward online class!
Avoid this guy like the plague. The coursework for this class is very heavy with group projects staggered with exams almost every week. The group work is so prevalent that your grade is entirely at the mercy of your classmates. Assignment instructions are incredibly particular but also so long and rambling it's inevitable you'll miss details.
