Very nice guy. Tries hard. Teaching style is a little hard to understand though. Treates students as his equals not like many teachers
Good teacher, really tries to help his students. Very soft-spoken though. Most likely a huge pothead.
He's a great math teacher. He wants everyone in the class to pass, tries to make it as simple as possible, and is often very entertaining.
Great guy! Very nice!
Very helpful prof. Tries hard to make you understand math.
Soft Spoken, explains only when asked to
He's a very good teacher. It's the subject matter that I disliked. He did, however, almost succeed at making the class interesting.
He's nice and friendly and all, but he took absolutely no interest in learning the material before teaching it. This was my first probability course at IU and I officially hate this subject. I'm more confused than ever.
He's quite the character, have to give it to him there, but he's really unprepared for the class. He doesn't plan out his lectures/discussions ahead of time so when class comes, he ends up bouncing from one thing to the next. He can get really caught up with a problem he's working on and it can get really confusing as well. Nice guy though.
Funny dude.
Nice guy, will do his best to help you pass the class even if you hate math
He's a crazy guy. I started off going to his class every MWF, but then his lectures became so confusing I couldn't stand to sit in class. I skipped his class more than I went actually and I still got an A. The study guides are just like the tests. He's crazy and unprepared, but is a fair teacher (and will curve).
hilarious guy. if you have to take finite, you want to take it with dabrowski...if nothing else he'll make you laugh. totally random and wonderful. ask him about his musical talents...
Comes unprepared to class. Just randomly lectures and loves to do examples. Hilarious, but not very helpful. The good thing is that you can skip the class everyday, and be fine on the exams because they are just like his practice one's but with different numbers. Easy, if you attend it's fun, but it's always nice to skip this class.
Extremely nice. he knows his stuffs and teaches well, although he's kinda random sometimes (in a funny way). Highly Recommended!
Awesome Professor!!! Hilaroius and has completely random jokes!! He gets distracted easily, but makes the subject easy w/ examples, take notes, do the practice tests and youll be fine~ Wear a funny shirt to class!
Best part about getting Dabrowski is he gives a siginificantly less amount of webwork that all the other Finite teachers. He's very clear in his instruction, using lots of examples. He'll help you on any problem you need. He definately is goofy though, but a lot of the time he's funny.
Great guy. Gives a lot less webwork then other teachers and is hilarious. A little random and not very organized but I would highly recommend.
Great teacher! He used a lot of examples and explained things in more detail than other finite teachers. I would recommend taking his class!
One of my favorite teachers. He wants everyone to do well in his class and is just a really funny nice guy. I would highly recommend if you have to take finite.
Stay on top of going to class and doing the short homework assignments because even though his lectures are close to pointless they are necessary. His lack of teaching is frustrating because he hardly stays on topic and jumps around a lot. His test questions seem to be a lot different then the study guide or practice test questions. eek, beware.
He keeps the classroom relaxed, doesn't care about tardiness or absences, he's funny, teaches affectively, and keeps webwork to a minimum. Great class!
Really good teacher, able to explain in detail when asked questions and tries to make class fun and interesting. One of the best math teachers I have ever had.
Awesome teacher. Really random and funny. Wears suspenders everyday. What more could you ask for?
soooo nice and helpful. He really wants all his students to do well and does all he can to help everyone succeed. funny as well and loves Led Zeppelin. basically, the best math teacher i've had.
awesome prof. my favorite so far. really random, enterataining guy. easy to approach and always willing to help. probably one the easier of the finite teachers
He is by far the best finite teacher at IU. He gives less homework than other professors and prepares you for the exams better than others.
basically, the class is we walk in and he assigns us problems, we work on them with a group then turn it in, and go home. no homework. sounds great but u dont learn which screws u over for exams. he doesnt teach. the text book has to teach us which SUCKS. when asked questions he stll has no idea what to say. he is ridiculous and should not teach
Im really good at math so his methods of teaching was really good for me. For others it may be a little too fast. He is willing to help if it is needed. The best part about his class was if you did good on the final he replaced that score with a lower test score earlier in the semester. He's pretty funny. He tends to commment on peoples shirts and food and makes it funny.
awesome professor!! his test is easy, best math professor!
He is seriously the nicest guy ever! He sometimes confuses himself during his lectures, but don't let that make you think he doesn't know what he's talking about. He's very helpful but he won't force you to pay attention like you're a little kid. Doesn't take attendance. Overall nice nice man
Best Finite professor there is. Fewest homework problems and helpful if you need him.
Best calc teacher ever! Makes sure you know exactly what he is talking about and are not confused if you ask questions. Tests are kinda hard, but he gives you practice tests that are exactly like the tests, just different numbers. Great teacher!
seriously, this man is the best. learning wise, hes decent, nothing to brag about. but he is the most entertaining teacher. trust me, take his class. the online homework is like tops 6 questions (my other friends have like 20) and he does them all in class. Class entails of:him telling stories, him doing the hw, and his random comments are the best
He knows his stuff and the webwork is really easy with him UNLIMITED ATTEMPTS
He is a terrific professor. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that his test questions can be a little confusing, so look at his practice tests before hand. Other than that, he is awesome, entertaining, and does not overload you with a ton of homework. Two words: Great Professor
I took this teacher after reading all his awesome ratings on here. Biggest. Mistake. Ever. He's not a bad guy, he's just easily sidetracked and would rather talk about what's on a student's shirt than teach math. Rambles forever about nothing, always off-topic, etc etc.
Good teacher. During class, he's got terrible ADD, but if you ask him a question, you get the answer totally straight forward. Will work with you 1 on 1 until you get the topic. Looks ridiculous, acts accordingly, but knows the subject and can help you know it.
Great calculus teacher! He has a great sense of humor and tries to make the class fun. His teaching method is unique because he tries to explain why we need to know the certain material. Sometimes class lectures can be confusing so ^advice: 1)Go to his office hours (they are extremely helpful) 2) Do practice exams 3)Go to class.
Good professor.
Excellent and hilarious professor, do the suggested book problems and this class will be no problem!
Great instructor, he is a really nice guy. What he teahes is actually on the test and there are no tricks. He does get sidetracked every now and then and its always something funny. Learned much more from him than any other math class at IU. I feel lucky I had him!
I took his probability course in the summer. Simply terrific. Really good teacher. There is nothing redundant in his teaching. If you attend all classes and do homeworks, he will make you really understand every topic.
Great teacher, hillarious
Awesome teacher, great class. Take Dabrowski for M-118 if you have to take this class!
Prof. Dabrowski was a great finite prof!!! While the course is very difficult, I think he gave me my best of odds of doing as well as I did. I HIGHLY suggest him!
This guy was great. Webwork (aka hw) was worth 23% in his class! That's higher than any other professor who teaches Finite. Also, he only gave 5 hw problems per class (so 15 per week), and he would also go over them in class. He makes Finite (which is somewhat tough) a fairly easy A.
He was a very helpful teacher, though he had many issues with the microphone. Oh, and he tends to ramble.
This was V118, and he was a really nice guy. When you were able to go to office hours he was very helpful, but in class sit in the front or you'l space out because he rambles. Always ask for practice test because they are the best to study with for a test. He is better than Wheeler.
Out of all the finite professors I think Dabrowski is the best out there! I've heard horror stories from many of my friends about finite, but thankfully I got Dabrowski as a teacher. He goes over every problem with great detail and in a way everyone can understand it (Even me and I would consider myself math impaired). Great teacher!
I took this prof a few smstrs ago for a lower level math course-- absolutely phenomenal! He was prob my fav prof at this univ. Unfortunately, in higher level courses he tends to be sporadic and spacey. You do a lot of learning from the book and YouTube. Def a big help in OH, he still lets you use notecards on exams. Hwrk load is reasonable.
Great teacher. Funny, entertaining, quirky, but most importantly very helpful. He went over all the homework problems before they were due and made really helpful practice tests. Definitely a do-able A if you do the homework, study for the tests, and pay attention in class. Also, he had a high interest in his students which was another plus.
seriously the nicest guy ever. attendance not mandatory but it helps. he gives a small amount of homework and you can get partial credit on multiple choice parts of the test. would highly recommend him over Orrick any day!
Great guy. Always goes off topic though and spends more time trying to be funny setting up the problems with "unique" variables. You can probably teach yourself this course from the textbook. Slides are all put up online. Has a great grading options. No pop quizes or anything like that. Knows that most of his students are pre business majors
I found the tests very hard even when the material seemed easy. You really have to pay attention. But he's super nice and really funny!
Great teacher, made finite fun. Test and homework was a breeze
All of his notes were taken from a CD textbook, that we never used. Although he gives practice exams before tests, and the tests are much like the practice exams, his AI's grade unfairly. Be prepared to teach yourself each chapter. It is apparent he has no idea what he is doing, nice guy though.
He was not helpful at all and he didn't grade fairly or explain things very clearly. Overall, not a good class.
He is really unorganized and super strange but very friendly and is willing to be very helpful. His notes aren't very clear but the material is not that challenging. He posts practice exams that are almost an exact copy to the real exam. I recommend him.
He was a really nice guy, but the subject material was not well explained. Most people in this class know they are not the greatest at math, and this class was not helpful for those who struggle. Textbook (CD) was never used. Homework and lecture topics often were very different from each other. Exams were also tough.
Andrew was a really nice guy and if your are looking for an easier math class this is the place to be. He never used the textbook (CD), but he had powerpoint slides to go along with. If you attend class and go to the help sessions this is a pretty easy class.
Obsessed with spouting his liberal politics -- and remaining "popular" with the ladies, but was good for little else. Avoid at all cost.
HORRIBLE instructor. So vague, always mumbles, doesn't teach anything with steps, doesn't follow the textbook. Avoid at all costs. Take M118 instead
I have NEVER enjoyed/understood math classes, and this class was bearable-that's saying something for me. If you're looking to be a finite genius, this isn't the class for you. But if you need to pass it to graduate, this is the class and he is a great professor for it. He explains things well if you ask and go to class. Very nice and accomodating
I have never been good at math and this man made me understand! Phenomenal teacher! Attendance is not mandatory, the book is a cheap CD made by a member of the math dept (which I never used because everything is explained in class), and the test and hw are fair and manageable!
Finite has a reputation. His exams are easy and are based LARGELY on the practice problems (not WebWork) he posts for them. The midterm/final are a different story. He doesn't spout liberal ideas, but he occasionally gets side traced for 3 minutes. He's a nice guy and a decent teacher. Don't buy the textbook. I made it through without.
This professor really cares about his students. He is interested in helping people learn. He is confusing sometimes and gets off topic, making his lectures difficult to follow. He let's students use notecards on exams, even in 3/400 level courses. Overall, a good professor.
one of the better math teachers. Nice that he isn't foreign like many other math lecturers. Do all the webwork because its worth a nice portion or grade, but useless when studying for tests. Just do lots of practice tests to do well on exams.
He goes on random tangents during class about things unrelated to math, wrote his own textbook and references class notes that don't exist
you really have to study the practice exams in order to do well on the tests. Not necessary to buy the textbook, we never use it
Preaches more than he teaches. Funny guy, spends about half the class doing the homework for you if you ask. Don't dress up in his class or he will stop lecture and call you out and ask why you're dressed so nice.
This is the easiest math class I have everwill ever take. He is kinda hard to understand though, and you need to know when to stop listening to his little rants. But seriously, he's really nice and spends half the class going over all the homework answers (that are due the next day). Just show up to lecture and do the practice exams.
He was okay, really boring lectures.
Drub Tub is the bestest because his class is fairly reasonable.
It helped to attend every lecture but he always has his slides online. Gives a lot of webwork that is hard but helps a student better understand the material but it is frustrating because those questions are nothing like the exams. As long as you study, go to the lectures, and do the webwork you should be fine.
I have never performed well in math my entire life. Andrew is the most helpful professor I have ever had. People ask him how to do the same homework problem a million times and he never gets frustrated. As long as you go into his office hours and get help on the homework and practice exams you will be fine. I'm actually going to miss his class.
V118 is Finite Math for the Social and Biological Sciences. I'm someone who struggles at math, and this class definitely is confusing at times. Dabrowski can also go off-topic, and he doesn't explain some topics well. Get from other people in the class, I would recommend it because it can be hard if you don't seek out help if you struggle with math
Overall, he is a great teacher. Goes over any questions in class and constantly asks if people understand. Takes little steps and explains how he got every answer. Even goes over homework in class before it's due! People get frustrated with him because he's sometimes hard to hear, but if you ask he'll gladly repeat andor explain.
Love the non departmental exams, you can put up to 3 answers on your answer sheet. Really helps your grade. Basically the partial grade that he gives really helps on his exams. His teaching method is reaaaalllllyy effective.
This class required much more than doing the Webwork. You have to do the practice exams and seek help either in his officer hours or by getting help from a tutoracademic support center. I use to be good at math until I reached this course. Although I did get an A-, it required much of myy time. Great professor to teach you the basics.
At first there he explained material well, but gradually he grew less clear explaining material. I put so much into class, went to tutoring every single week and that helped way more than how he did. The tests are incredibly hard because they don't relate to the homework he provides, especially the mid termfinal.
He flies through all of his lectures and then is confused why so many of his students are lost. I also went to his office hours once and was ignored while he helped someone else for 30 min.
Not much Homework. Tests are easier than some finite professors. Gives you the option to select more than 1 answer on the test.
He's a good teacher on a tough topic
Dabrowski is a good finite professor. He will answer any questions you have, but sit in the front because he doesn't have great hearing. He explains most concepts clearly. He also gives significantly less homework than other professors, but if you know you need the extra practice in math but don't have the willpower to do it, take someone else
Professor was pretty cool, he was definitely a more effective teacher one on one in office hours. GO. TO. OFFICE. HOURS. The class is hard, don't slack off. The second half of the semester is way easier. didn't buy textbook
He is by far the best finite teacher at IU. You will find no other finite teachers that grade as easily. The homework is online and you get unlimited attempts to answer questions. This is rare with some teachers. If you want to pass finite, he is your best option. He gives great curves and he's very likable. Classes are large but he's awesome.
Probably one of the better finite teachers (Not saying much). Pros: Doesn't give much homework compared to other teachers Explains things well Cons: The course is awful
Finite is finite but I still do not think he's a great teacher. Lectures were extremely boring and started skipping them to get tutoring, grade went up after that. Office hours were only a little helpful. He is probably one of the better finite professors, but if you already know you struggle in math, take the two semester finite course.
Good professor, bad class. I'm sure that Dabrowski is a good math prof, but finite is ... well... finite
Finite is an absurdly hard class and Dabrowski knows this and tries his best. He is the best finite teacher to have because he listens to students, does his best to make himself available and make the material clear. Very approachable and friendly which is unusual for math. I had to work for a C and I would've failed with a different prof.
Very distracted teacher. If you don't do the practice tests you'll fail the exams. However, the class is pretty easy so if you don't like math, take this class.
Finite sucks, we all know that, but Dabrowski makes the course easier. My other friends in finite had different professors which had a lot more homework and their tests were harder. Dabrowski's tests are fair, and he himself is very fair to all students (no extra credit if you have 100 on HW.) He's hilarious and makes finite better
Anyone leaving negative ratings on this guy need to literally burn in hell. He is the goat!
I wouldnt take this class online if you have the option. His zooms were never teaching the actual content instead they were just office hours. You were kind of just tossed the textbook and told to learn it on your own. The textbook not to mention is very confusing. Im sure this guy is great in person, but online it was not good.
Do not take this professor online. You are teaching yourself and it is extremely difficult. The textbook provided is not very helpful. He tells you to come to class with questions, but the questions are for the homework due next and not the current one. There was no actual teaching in this class.
I will be honest, I'm not the best at algebraic driven math classes but I've never struggled this hard in a class. Handwriting isn't legible and can't understand a thing he says. He goes crazy fast and can't even write down how to do a certain problem without him moving on the next second. I would not recommend taking a class with him as your prof.
Dabrowski is one of the better professors in the finite department. He truly cares about his students and shows it by taking time out of each class to go over the homework problems. His tests are unique in that they enable you to receive partial credit. He also assigns the least amount of homework, which is really great.
Dabrowski is one of the most infuriating professors I have ever some across. His lectures are dry and his handwriting is illegible. Finite is a very difficult class, but Dabrowski doesn't make it any easier.
He is a great professor who really cares about his students. He truly will help you with the material when you need it, you just have to ask. His test and material are much easier than others teachers who teach Finite.
Hes super nice and caring and will walk you through any problem youre stuck on. Sometimes it will get confusing in class, but if you stop him hell make sure youre back on track. Finite sucks, but he made it much better.
This professor cannot teach. I asked him to solve a math problem for the class that I was struggling with, and he couldn't even solve his own problem. He is smart, but cannot teach. Extremely disorganized, has no idea what he is doing. Take literally anyone else.
This man is homeless, I refuse to believe he does not life in a cardboard box on Kirkwood. He is a very caring teacher, however thats where the good stops. He is very confusing with how he teachers and constantly makes mistakes. In a class like finite you need a teacher that doesnt make simple mistakes like 8x7 (he put 54)
Finite is going to suck no matter what professor you have. Dabrowski is hard to follow along with sometimes but if you stop him he will make sure he answers your question. Any hw problem you're stuck on he will basically solve for you. Allows extra credit for hw problems you missed. He grades his exams easy and gives curves
Professor Dabrowski was extremely disorganized with his lectures. I sat in different places every class and was constantly surrounded by people who were confused and didn't understand the material due to his poor teaching. He does not explain well and is difficult to contact outside of class. Would not recommend if you wish to learn finite.
One of the better finite professors. Finite just sucks but he made it a lot better by solving any homework problems you had questions on and making super similar practice exams to the real exams
Overall, Andrew Dabrowski is a better man than he is finite professor. He is clearly too smart for his own good, and it shows during every moment of every lecture that you can manage to stay sane, awake, and coherent for. As much as Finite is meant to be a difficult course, Dabrowski should be held accountable for his ridiculously high drop rate.
Very laid-back professor. Even though I found his course hard and barely passed with a lot of effort, he tried his best to explain concepts in class and welcomed any doubts about the material. Please get tutoring help if you want to take Finite unless you are confident in your mathematical ability!
Flipped section meant you had to teach yourself. when you had questions, he was very capable of answering them.
