Great teacher. Really enjoyed this class. Took him for HIST 1301. Jokes around alot, easy to talk to. Answers 100% of all your questions. Gives you 5 essay topics for exams, 5 will be on test, andyou only have to write on 3! He outlines ALL OF THE ESSAYS AND TELLS YOU EXCATLY WHAT HE WANTS YOU TO WRITE 2 DAYS BEFORE THE EXAM.Simply Amazing Profesor
This is a great teacher. Do your work in this class and you are sure to do great.
Dunsky is an extremely chill teacher, and I'm looking forward to taking him for my other history classes as well. I recommend taking Western Civ. with him. He knows what he's talking about and he keeps it interesting.
Mr. Dunsky is the BEST teacher you can have he knows what he is doing and he jokes a lot...can't wait to have 1302 with him next semester :)
2 book reports, 4 tests, 7 quizes. Everything is easy in the class if you put in a little effort (only a little!). Very funny, responds to emails quickly, 25 point bonus if 100% attendance for the semester. Taking History II with him!
Really easy teacher. He really knows his stuff and is great about answering questions. He gives you possible essay questions b4 the test, and pretty much everything on the test comes from his powerpoints, so reading the book isn't really essential (although helpful). If you go to class, take notes, and study for the tests, making an A is a breeze.
good teacher. easy quizes, easy test. no laptops and his notes are extremely long
He is a very good teacher. i took him for summer school and he knows what he is talking about. if you have perfect attendance he gives you extra credit. and his tests are okay. he gives you 7 essays to study, 6 on the test and you write on 3. and you have 30 multiple choice. GREAT TEACHER!
Very clear about what he expects in the book essays or tests, always reminds students of assignments coming up, great George W. Bush impression.
He is a good teacher. He does great impressions of George Bush. He does not accept late work, and there is a lot of notes. Deducts points for being late and attendence. If you do everything he asks you to do, you'll be fine.
he's a nice professor.. gives lectures through powerpoints... take notes and you should be fine.. be there and on time. he gives extra credit for attendance, so take advantage of it.. He gives possible short answer questions for test.
Show up to class and do the homework and you will pass. Funny teacher and the lectures are very very interesting. He really knows his stuff and knows how to teach it.
He is really clear on the subject. Really funny, but has low tolerance on cellphones. You don't use the textbook a lot but you have to read everything he makes you read. He wasn't helpful when I asked for help. Test are really hard 3 essays and vocabulary. If you don't study you will fail his class.
Andrew is very organized and very clear in his lectures. He gives you the possible essay topics a week before the exam and you just have to practically memorize them. He knows his history and loves it when students ask questions! I transferred to a 4 year university now but I miss his lectures!
Mandatory attending. Stirct on deadlines. Hard tests, he wants TOO MANY DETAILS. including dates, names of battles and setting. almost no EC. keeps class interesting but not easy A. would recommend to take someone else if you can. i had to drop his class. Nice and funny guy. 2 book essays(you do have to read book). 1 Research paper.
Easy class as long as you show up and take notes. 3 tests, 2 book essays, 1 term paper. All fairly easy as long as you study. He keeps interesting and is a funny guy who really knows his stuff. Recommend him for sure.
If you like never-ending note taking on boring powerpoints all semester long and writing 3 one page essays with 4 paragraph ID terms every test then take him, because he tops it off by never missing class and making attendance manditory or you get points taking off your grade by missing 2 or more days!
NOT RECOMMENDED. When it comes to teaching, he has alot of enthusiasm. When it comes to being a teacher, he needs a attitude adjustment. He grades harshly and expects everything to be on par with the impossible guidelines he gives. Take Alex Smith, he's a much better teacher.
He is a fun dude. Enthusiastic in his lectures but every class is notes from start to finish. Tells you what he wants on the exam before he gives it to you but since he tells you, he is a harsh grader. Two 3-5 page essays on BORING books. He makes the quizzes off one of the textbooks. If you don't learn from lectures definitely don't take him.
Take this professor if you are a visual learner. His powerpoints are very heplful but you have to attend his class. He will not give you your grade but he is very understanding. He gives reviews before tests and he is a very good professor.
He knows what he is talking about when it comes to History. His class isnt an easy A but if you do the work and study, you could get an A. There are 2 3-5 pg papers over different books and 7 quizs from the text. If you hate note taking, then don't take him. I wrote down everything that came out of his mouth & that was on his PowerPoints.
He knows his history. I never enjoyed history until his class. You do take a lot of notes from PowerPoints, roughly 3-4 pages in the summer session. Textbooks are mandatory and are put to use the whole semester. He also has two 3-5 page book essays that are pretty simple and to the point. Lots of effort to make an A. Not easy, but possible.
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! He knows what he is talking about and is very helpful.Attendance is mandatory but it helps to go anyway. There are 2 book essays which are super duper easy and the final exam is not cumulative. He pretty much gives you the exam a week before and you just have to study. Just do your work and you're on your way to an A!
AMAZING!!! He really loves history and you will want to come to class. He's pretty funny too. Test are not easy but if you go to lecure you won't have a problem.
He's really good at teaching history. He's funny also and the test are really easy!!
Great teacher, really knows his stuff. He is entertaining and kinda on the cute side.
This guy is awesome! It's a history class so YES it's a lecture w/ notes everyday. Yet would you rather an old man or this funny charismatic dude who knows & loves what he's talking about. Test are 60% essays structure it well hit your topic points = A's. He rewards perf attendees! If you're looking to "get by" like the guy below dont take History.
he is AWESOME! he really knows his stuff and makes you excited about history. The tests are very easy cause its right off the notes he gives you. i hate history but loved it with him!
I took his class online for the Fall 8 week mini semester. Great Professor! Must read the textbook, class is a combination of quizzes and tests. There are 2 small-ish books to read and write an essay on. Very quick to grade and provide feedback. Would highly recommend!
By far the best class I've ever taken. Attendance is mandatory & you must take notes. Reading the textbook isn't mandatory, but does help get better grade on the exams. The exams are pretty easy. He gives out the essay topics a week before the test & the multiple choice is pretty much common sense.
I took this as an 8 week course online and I really enjoyed it! It was a lot of reading though. Professor Dunsky graded everything very quickly. I never had any questions because he made everything very clear! There was a 15 question quiz every week, 3 test, and 2 book essays(very easy to write).
I took his 8 week online class, and it by far has been the best class I've taken. You read two chapters in the book, took a quiz on or before Sunday. Write two book essays, and take a test every two weeks and I got a B. Best teacher. Ever.
super sarcastic, but in a good way. very easy to follow, lectures are informative and interesting even without a prior interest in history
He is seriously the best history teacher ever! He keeps you focused in every lecture, he's sometimes funny. He has about 7 short quizzes and are really easy. He has 4 exams including the final and all have 20 multiple choice and 3 essays which are really easy since all the info comes from the notes and if you pay attention in class! THE BEST EVER!
Take his class if you want a history class that is interesting and fun. The lectures are hilarious and he is always willing to answer questions. There were 7 quizzes, 4 exams, and 2 book essays. The exams include some multiple choice questions and three essays that come from the notes. With class attendance and a bit of studying, it's an easy A.
This class will be an easy A if you come to class everyday, take notes when he goes over the pwrpt, and if you don't mind writing a couple of essays. Also do your assignments on time, etc. I loved coming to his class cause he wasn't one of those teachers that wasted time. His lectures were really interesting and he was really funny.
He is an amazing teacher, really knows what he is talking about. The downside of him is that he gives too much work especially if you're a full time student or if you work. 2 book essays which must be 3 pages minimum, you have to write 3 one page essays per test (3 tests) and a lot of quizzes. Very lenient and easy grader though. Has an attitude.
Alright, so in the past 10 years of school, I have yet to have a history class I've been interested in. Professor Dunsky completely changed that. While it's essentially mandatory to attend all classes, they're so worth it. He knows so much about practically everything, and loves sharing that with you. Super nice, great guy. Impartial in all aspects
Great teacher!!
As an online instructor, he was amazing. He follows the syllabus very closely and his assignments are predictable and precise, which makes this class perfect for someone who needs to be able to schedule coursework around outside commitments and other classes. He is an excellent communicator and very responsive to email.
For an online instructor, he rarely followed the syllabus and had strict guidelines and rules. The Essay topics were confusing, and the reading material was all over the place. This teacher is a hard one if you are not committed to do everything to get an A. Do all of your work on the first swoop so you can be ready!
Took online, class was very organized. 1 ten question quiz due every sunday. A test and five sentence discussion due every three weeks. Tests/quizzes are straight from the textbook question bank, quizlet has majority of the questions so you don't need the textbook at all. Two essays. HIGHLY recommend- EASY A. Just be aware of the due dates & essays
I never understood history until i took him. Even though he does mainly lectures, he tells in a story way so you are able to remember instead of just "facts". The tests are a little difficult because they are half essay but gives topics to practice before taking test. He always makes jokes and talks about current events before class
Willing to help if you ask for it, very nice and easy to understand.
Must read the book because all of the questions are from it. Some answers to tests can be found on Quizlets. Took this class online. Two papers to write on two short books, and he grades them really easily. Discussion post with two replies to other classemates due each week. MUST READ THE BOOK and there's a lot of reading!
Loved his class got lots of great information. He is definitely a must take for any history class!
I've taken both of his US History classes and I have loved them! i passed them with an A in both. study for tests and you will at least pass, if you don't make an A. He also makes the class interesting and funny, so you won't be bored. I recommend this class for anyone who needs to take History, whether you like it or not, because you will enjoy.
Only three test and three papers. The test are easy and he's funny and keeps you entertained.
Amazing professor! I think one of the best I've ever had. Very refreshing to see a professor so passionate about what he teaches. He really does care about the subject, which I believe makes teaching much more effective. Keeps you eager to learn more, great sense of humor. Definitely taking him again next semester. Would 110% recommend him!!
If you love reading and writing essays then take this professor. He gave a quiz every week since the first week of class. He's not helpful at all and a very tougher grader for the essays. Two books beside the history book was required each with at least 3 page essay required. On the exams he requires you to respond to 3 essay questions.
Prof. Dunsky is a really awesome history professor, you should definitely take him if you think history class will be boring, he will prove you wrong with his spot- on presidential impressions. There are two book essays for 3 pgs, 3 exams, part multiple choice- part essay. You must work for the grade but its worth it, I took him for 1301 & TX Hist.
This professor was not helpful at all. He gives 3 essay questions on the test which he expects essay format. The test questions are tricky. The 2 required books are the worst books I've read through out my life. I would not recommend taking this professor unless you actually love history.
I took his winter 3 week mini-mester class this year. 3 units, each 1 consisted of 4-10 question quizzes. The first two units had a discussion post that had to be 5 lines long. We had 3 Exams 20 questions on each and 2 short answer questions that had to be 25 lines long. 1 essay for extra credit. Time consuming, but really easy!! TAKE HIM! EASY A!
One of the best professors!! He is really passionate about history and truly cares about his students! There is a quiz each week (all answers in the book) and 4 exams all of which consist of 3 essays and multiple choice! Overall, clear instructions and very organized online class!! Highly recommend!!!
Read the textbook and two novels. Class was broken up into 4 sections. A discussion, test, and 3 quizzes for each section. Not hard. His online class was very straight forward and easy to work ahead if you are into that sort of thing.
Loved the proff, probably the only time I enjoyed hist class. If you put in one hr of work per week u will get an A.
Fun prof, great lectures, would take again. Somewhat biased on his political views makes no effort to filter it out for the class. If you pre-write the essays and send them to him before you do the test it does help big time.
Prof Dunsky is very straight-forward. Tests are easy, straight-forward, and based on the in-class lectures. His lectures are fun and easy to listen to and understand. He teaches in a way that makes the student want to listen and learn. Hilarious, lots of jokes during lecture, but doesn't distract from anything. Do the work and you will pass easy.
I took the 8 Week course class. Was very organized, broken down in 3 units. Towards the end he started being a tough grader, especially on discussion post. Quiz/Test/Discussion Posts are from book, don't waste your time on a full semester, take the 8 Week course, Super easy. Offers extra credit
Professor Dunsky is a nice guy he can come off a little rude sometimes. However my only problem would be his test the multiple choice questions are okay, but the 3 essays are a bit much. Other than that the class was okay notes everyday in class lectures weren't to long. Not sure if i would take him again for 1302.
he was a good teacher, lecture go by quick and is straightforward on grading,
sometimes blunt but only rude when he is disrespected or phones are being used during lectures. Extremely funny during lectures and take notes of everything in the powerpoints because its exactly the test. Book only used for online homework. Few book reading assignments/papers but super easy if you read what he tells you to. Great Prof, take him
The best professor's I've ever had. He is very passionate on the subject and it shows through the lectures. I personally suck at history, but he made class very interesting and I left learning a lot. He is straight forward on the grading system and is always following the syllabus. Definitely recommend and take 1302 with him.
Prof Dunsky is an amazing professor and you could truly see his passion in History and in Teaching. I've never met a professor this great and I could only hope for a professor similar to him in the future. His passion is what attracts his students. He gives clear lectures and his lectures are covered for upcoming exams. Pay attention, you'll pass.
Dunsky made learning history fun and interesting.... I am taking him again for 1302 one of the best professors I have come across. Be prepared to do the work. He will not give it to you. He is fun fair and upfront. Would def recommend him!!!!
Professor is cool and all and he knows a lot about History, but get ready to write more essays than whatever ENGL class you're taking. 14 essays total! 3 per exam with 3 exams, 3 on the final exam and 2 books you have to read in the addition to the main textbook and then write book essays on those.
You need the textbook. Two additional books to read with two papers. This was a 16 week online course. Tests include 4 possible essay questions given to you in advance. Great professor, would take him again.
Mr. Dunsky does give you two book essays, quizzes almost every week and his exam are throughly explained in class the day before the exam. No surprises at all. He does expect you to read which is expected. We all had personal issues and he does show some compassion and worked with us. His lectures are awesome and I am taking him for 1302.
Would take him again! Hes passionate about what he teaches!
HIST 1301 full online , quizlet is not a good go to for all tests, make sure you study/ read your book for the Exams, Quizzes for every chapter, 2 book reports, discussions (4) Exam (4) . STUDY if you are going to take the class, I took a full load so this wasnt my priority and I didn' have time to study as much as class needed
Loved his class, he made it very interesting. I have already enrolled in his 1302 class for the fall. Would definitely recommend him to anyone asking and in fact, I already have told several classmates about him.
Took Professor Dunsky online for credit. Total of 8 quizzes, 3 Exams, 3 Discussion Post, two book essays, and one extra credit if you would like to get more points on your grade.
Big books for 2 essays in a short period of time, not enough time to give you for essay completion. Overall ok
The class was well organized. Unfortunately this professor is not helpful for serious students. I was very surprised when he called me to chew me out for asking basic questions. His lack of communication regarding the syllabus and careless attitude cost me a full letter grade. May be OK for students only interested in a passing grade.
Online class. He posted multiple weeks in advance I really appreciated that. He is very understanding with any issues. But there were three essays for each test, for which he posted 4 prompts and he'd drop one, unit discussions, and two book reports.
Recommend Professor for 3-wk class. Clear syllabus and direction. One major book report and another for the last Exam. Audio books helped. Quiz after each chapter but directly from the book. Exams are directly from the book. Discussions after each Unit. Learned a lot from this class and enjoyed the two additional books. Extra credit available.
The professor is very organized. Between the textbook and the extra books it is a lot of reading. The exams are a lot, you have to answer 4 questions but only 3 are asked in the exams. Other than that the professor is great and clear on the work.
First of all, I should mention that I was an online student at Lonestar. Over the semester I received a total of maybe 10 emails and at least 4 of them were pertaining to bad weather and losses of internet or electricity. I reached out multiple times but received no response and was constantly struggling. Really wish that he was accessible. 2/10
A lot of reading. Each chapter is followed by a 10-question quiz. Each test covers a unit (4 chapters). There are 3 essays per unit test and 20 multiple choice questions. There are also 2 book reports. If you do receive any feedback, it's very short and vague. His response to questions tend to be smart aleck, so cross your T's and dot your I's.
Poor communication on when class starts, violates the syllabus and didn't update it from last year, and required textbook was not being sold at any Lonestar bookstore because they weren't told by a professor it was required. If I can say anything from this experience don't take an online class, the professors don't seem to care at all about them.
8 week course. Self motivated, very little contact with Professor but syllabus was easy to follow and he was NOT a hard grader. Took long to respond to emails. Lots of reading, quizzes/test from book or online (NO webcam). 2 book reports not difficult. Would take him again!
Professor Dunsky may be one of the most challenging professors ever. There are a lot of assignments in this class. 3 exams, which include 20 questions and 3 essays each. 2 book essays that need to be 3-5 pages long. 10 quizzes throughout the semester. Get ready to be stressed. Good Luck
Class was pretty easy if you read through materials and can write good. The professor was pretty straight forward with grading and feedback.
One of the worst professors ever! Expected essays in discussion posts and replies and on each of 3 frqs on exams w/ 50 mcqs under 90 minutes is unrealistic. Ignored all my emails throughout the semester. Didn't grade 3 major assignments and extra credit essay. Had to purchase a textbook and 2 other books for this class. Do not recommend taking him!
Communication was poor, no motivation at all. Takes out bunch of points for little mistakes. I don't recommend this professor.
This professor is awful. He had no lectures, you have to read the textbook alone, as well as 2 books. There were 2 long book reports and for every test you have to write 3 essays a page long. He was not very helpful.
Not much communication but syllabus and class are outlined well. Two book essays, 4 units with an exam at the end of each and one extra credit essay. If you can write a decent essay and read a book, this class is easy.
Professor Dunsky was really easy to work with and he always gave feedback on our essays or assignments which made me better every week and I'll take his class over and over .
