Class is kinda hard. He gives a packet with notes but you need to go to class because he elaborates on them. You prob. won't be able to understand the class without the book. Read the chapters and go to the classes and you should be fine. He gives test reviews but NOTHING ON THE REVIEW IS ACTUALLY ON THE TEST.
Very charismatic and likeable man. When he wants to be he can be a great teacher, but it seems that it's a bother for him to be teaching. I think his students' biggest problem with him is that he took, on average, over two weeks to grade exams. Could really be a great teacher if he wanted to be.
Absolute worst professor I've ever had. Refused to put test dates on syllabus and only gave couple days notice before test & half the time would change date again. Nothing from review was on test. Summarized what to know for test and test would be completely different. Never returned calls or emails. Spent 1/2 of class time talking about sports.
+1- WORST TEACHER! Do not take this class!! He has an incomprehensiable accent that makes it impossible to understand him. He is full of smart comments and rude things to say. He goes off on tangents every 5 minutes, so he waistes class time. And his tests are nothing like the practice tests! Just trust me avoid taking this guy at all costs.
I don't recommend this guy if you want to really learn or if you ever need help with things. He doesn't return e-mails. The material the class covers is easy yet the tests are impossibly hard and do not reflect the information that is taught. If I had it to do over I would not take this professor.
Don't like the fact that he doesn't explain anything and glosses over so much.
I do not recommend taking this teacher. He means well and he tries to make class more interesting, but he has a bad habit of going off on tangents or going too slow on the easy material and leaving the hard material for students on their own. His tests are challenging but doable if you study but most of the time there are many errors on the exams.
i swear this guy is like the teacher from the depths of hell but on this earth to fail anyone who has to take chemistry! He sucks! u can't understand him he doesn't even try to clarify himself. Office hours are joke and to put the icing on the cake he insults your intelligence when you ask him a question that he thinks is easy!! don't take him!!!!!
This class was a complete nightmare! Has no idea what he's talking about, just reads off the ppt. No set dates for tests, always have errors on them. Doesn't return emails or answer questions, not helpful whatsoever. Gave work on mastering chem day b4 final!!!! If you have to take this class just read the book and teach yourself, thats what I did.
Hard teacher and very difficult to understand because of his accent. Every other sentence you will hear in his lectures all semester is "Got tha ideaaa?" (but no one really gets the idea). Anyways if you take his class you will see what I'm talking about. He also likes to herd birds into his classroom.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER!!!!! He doesn't even teach, he just talks! Everything is off the powerpoints from masteringchem, but he puts his name on them! Gets angry really easy, but some days he's in the best mood ever. Gave 2 quizzes the day before the final with a total of 175 questions. I highly recommend NOT taking him!
OK, he is hard to understand but if you're up front you can get somewhat of what he is saying. Tests are a piece of cake. You HAVE to teach yourself by reading the text book and practicing problems on your own. If you need this class I wouldn't worry. I'm a straight A student and continue to be just that.
I am taking him, because his class was the last one still open. He's a pain, and doesn't care what you don't know. His accent and constant "yah" gets in the way. His tests are hard, and I would never ever ever recommend him to anyone. There are just some teachers that should be replaced.
great teacher but organic chem is hard no matter what! def attend class and read the book. accent is distracting at first but you get used to it. DON'T YAWN in class!!! or he will point you out and yell at you (jokingly of course)
His accent is tough to understand and sounds muffled through the microphone. He moves too slow on the easy subjects and to fast on the hard ones and the exams dont cover the content well. He has a bad habit of letting class out early. I don't recommend this prof.
For a 1000 level class he makes this way more difficult than it needs to be. Be prepared to teach yourself from Mastering Chem and the book, because he certainly isn't going to be teaching you anything.
In all honesty, he may not be the perfect professor, but he does inform you what each test is on and has accent during class to try and keep your attention. Mastering chemistry and studying is a much. His tests arent impossible, but they arent going to be super easy either. An A is achievable, but most im sure will settle for the B.
Do the work, read the book and do some of the problems in the back. You will do fine. I made an A in the course is it is possible. This is a real college course, and it is hard.
i recommend you take this class if you are looking to drop you GPA. I'm pretty sure he is there because he was given a grant to do research and his intrest in teaching is...nonexistent. Also when I set up an appointment for office hours he didn't show. Don't take this class period.
This class is a little hard. If you don't have prior studying about chemistry or have never taken a chemistry course before, it will be harder. I pulled off an A, but I took chemistry in high school, it was still hard. Reading the book is a must. Make sure to go see him about your tests, sometimes he'll give extra points.
Organic II is a difficult class. It was even harder Summer 2009 because it was at 8AM. Frazer helped A LOT because he made the class laugh. His exams were rather difficult towards the end, but it's because you had to know your mechanisms and how to get to the product quickly! Review your exam in his office.. He is an awesome guy to hang out with!
Keep up with the online hw and start studying at least a week in advance for the tests. Study mainly by doing the problems at the end of the chapter, and reviewing your notes. Frazer can be a bit lazy while teaching, so you may feel like you're teaching yourself at some points, but overall, he does do a decent job.
Funny accent? Okay, maybe. Nice guy? Potentially. Good professor? ABSOLUTELY NOT. He is by far, the absolute worst professor I have had at UCF. I am an A student and this class is KILLING me. He does NOTHING but read off of his slides. I am learning nothing other than what I've taught myself and the online hw takes ridiculously long and is useless.
WORST "professor" EVER!!! He doesn't teach but reads off the powerpoint which he does make. He doesn't seem to care if you pass his care or not. When you schedule an appointment with him he doesn't even bother to show up. Since late September I tried going in to view my tests in November I finally tracked him down. His only advice is to take an NC.
Pay attention to EXACTLY what he says will be on test b/c he doesn't finish a chapter b4 making test. Extremely helpful during office hrs tho, just make an appointment and don't wait until the last minute. Seems to care about students. Familiarize yourself with material BEFORE lecture, u will make it easier on yourself. I recommend him for CHM2040.
I had a really hard time in this class but I won't blame that on the professor. He himself was a great guy and really knows his stuff. Teaches well in my opinion but you definitely have to study on your own and prior to lessons. Tests were not impossible. If you put in the effort you will be ok. NOT a free 'A'
I would definitely not recommend this professor!!!!! Ive been a straight A/B student and I got a C in this class with struggle. You have to attend class for his notes and he goes super fast that you cant write them down. His tests are extremely hard!!! Do the online homework it will save your grade!!! Dont take himm if you care about your GPA!
This professor is the worst, period. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!!! STRIKE, STRIKE, STRIKE!!!!!!!!!!
do not take this teacher! i had to take the no credit because of how poorly i was doing... he reads straight off the powerpoints and his tests do not even follow what he is teaching... he goes through the material too quickly and he said at the beginning of class to not even bother coming to his office hours and to go straight to the TA...
Same as other reviewers. He reads you the powerpoints in class and that is all doesn't stop if you have a question just assumes everyone understands doesn't even respond to emails if you try to ask a question.
Do the 2045 not split chm because if you dont take the secong half,it counts for nothing.I worked very very hard and got a C. He told us on the first day we are expected to teach ourselves and in class he will reinforce what we teach ourselves.i would not reccomend. Everything is self taught!
I did poorly on half of his tests. However, I did work very hard and began studying for tests 2 weeks prior. I ended up doing well on the final and made a B in the class. I read the textbook/practice problems, bought Chem Cliffnotes book, and studied his slides. Overall, his class was aggravating and frustrating most of the time.
This class is only as hard as you make it. Frazer does see students and have office hours where he is willing to go over tests and answer questions. An A is definately attainable as long as you study (use the book!).Overall not a bad class or professor.
this professor is SO terrible. doesn't give a crap about his students. wastes class time by going REALLY fast on difficult concepts, and then spends WAY TO MUCH time on the easy stuff. I honestly think he doesn't know how to teach. he knows chemistry in his head, but he can't put it into understandable words. WORST class I've ever had in my life.
don't even bother going to class, you just end up teaching yourself anyway.
Don't bother with the broken up chem you'll do more work with him. He is a horrible teacher, and the most disorganized person I've had the misfortune of knowing. He over emphasizes the conceptual aspects of chemistry when in reality this is a basic chem class.
many people come on here & complain about how horribly they did in class. Chem isn't easy! That being said: Professor Frazer is a GREAT professor IF YOU STUDY. Go over the material before you go to class, have questions ready to ask him, sit in the front, and pay attention and he'll be your best friend.
Chemistry isn't easy, it's not an easy A. You have to go to class and you have to study. A lot of ppl didn't like him because they did bad, but he's really not that bad of a professor. study and do the work- He tells you that from the beginning. He's more gracious, if he sees that you've been trying.
If there is any way you can take a professor with a better rating, then I would do that. If you have no choice, then be prepared to basically teach yourself. And,if you need help, don't expect a lot out of him. Just make plans to get help elsewhere. I got a decent grade but felt he made it more difficult & time consuming than it had to be.
Not the easiest class but the prof tries to help. Notes are power point and tests are a bit tough but the online program helps.
Don't take him. He doesn't teach he just reads off the powerpoint and when he asks if everyone understands and three people raise their hands he continues..Made chemistry appear 1000 harder than it really is. Aleks (computer work) doesn't help at all for the tests and wastes your time..Get another teacher!
You need to read the book, do the homework, go to class, ask questions, and work for your grade regardless of who you take. He sends out notes for each chapter, tells you in class what is going to be on the test and is always willing to help you. He's a really nice guy and if you put in the effort, your grade will reflect that.
A LOT of self studying. Tried flashcards with his powerpoints, didn't work as affectively. There's a lot of math on his tests and expects you get them done in 1-3 mins. Practice math problems and know terms. If you need help go to tutoring. Look over your tests during office hours. BUG HIM WITH QUESTIONS. Gives HUGE curves on tests. Got a B.
Worst teacher of all time. Do not take his class, he does not know how to teach, you are better off reading a chemistry book and teaching yourself without paying for him to just read off of his powerpoint slides that dont help with the information on tests or quizes. I hope he stops trying to teach soon.
Everyone keeps putting that he's such a bad professor but in reality, HE'S NOT. You need to keep in mind that every class in college, ESPECIALLY the sciences, is primarily self-taught. Yes, you MUST read the book and do practice questions in order to do well. It does take a lot of effort but its not impossible, and he's always willing to help.
Good luck with his class. He isn't very helpful to be honest. His homework is pretty difficult sometimes, he makes it due and random times, and he withholds the correct answers if you get it wrong so you dont even understand HOW you messed up. I would suggest going to another teacher...
Does his best to explain and help you understand in class. If you study, read the book, and do the online stuff class is passable. Test are kinda hard but not to bad if you just study. I failed all the online quizzes but passed all in class test so dont worry uf you dont do well on the online stuff.
He is a funny guy and very charismatic but as a studen't in his class it is very hard for me. I am a pre-med major and always did well in chemistry. In his class however, I am struggling. The main reason I think is because he teaches at a fast pace and has a UK accent.
Anyone who's posted that he doesn't know how to teach OBVIOUSLY has not put in to effort to go to his office and get one-on-one help. If u go 2 his office, he's so helpful and down 2 earth. u won't pass if u aren't self-motivated, and yes, many concepts u have 2 learn on ur own by reading and studying--THAT'S COLLEGE PEOPLE. he's not gonna baby you
Prof. Frazer presented the class in a steady, digestible fashion. He walked us through the material, we learned new concepts, we applied them through a few exercises per chapter, ...and we got A's. Some of us in the class, that is. Take Frazer if you accept the challenge to simply digest and exercise few new concepts. That is enough said--from an a
Easy teacher. Core chemisty concepts. Goes over all examples that will be on test. Went to class like 7 times over semester. Got an A. Only mistakes on tests were stupid ones. Funny guy, he's also from England so has an accent. Still better than Indian or Arab accent though.
This professor isn't clear and going to class is a waste of time because he basically just reads the powerpoints you already have in his notebook required for the class, honestly you teach yourslef. Good guy but horrible professor.
Sometimes hard to understand but if you keep going to class you can understand what he is trying to say better. Reads off powerpoint. Test are very very hard. I took chm and valencia and got an A and now taking him and got two C on both test and a C is considered a good grade. Ill be happy when its over.
It is not impossible to get a good grade, you just have to pay attention (dont let his accent distract you) and do practice problems in your book. His class is boring as hell but his notebook explains everything you need to know. He is an okay teacher but isn't devoted to his students. His misses his appointments w/ students always. He's a weird one
Run Run Run Runaway! do not even consider taking this proff i don't know what's his deal because passing a lower level basic chem class should not be this bloody taxing and yet Professor Frazer makes it so.
Class is more difficult than it should be. He doesn't seem to really care about his students and is late to class sometimes and half of the time is in a bad mood. I am a Biology major and I got an A in all of the classes I took that semester except in his class i somehow managed a C. I received D's on my tests no matter how much I studied for them.
It is a very difficult class. I had to study more for this class than any other class I have had before. Class is very boring but if you don't go, you can almost count on failing. He uses MasteringChemistry.com for quizzes and homework. But it is helpful if you have the corresponding notebook for the course (a copy of all of his PPT slides).
Going to class is useless because he reads off of powerpoint slides that you already have. Tests are a joke. No matter how much you study you will fail. If you can teach chemistry to yourself, take this class, but if you need help, RUN LIKE THE WIND!
This teacher is horrible!! You have to teach your self. He has a very thick accent and you can barely understand what he is saying. All he does is read off power point slides, doesn't really teach. Class is very boring. Waste of time and money!!!
DO NOT EVEN LAY YOUR CURSOR OVER THAT REGISTER BUTTON FOR THIS CLASS. Thick accent, reads straight off of power points, and does not care much for students. There's a reason why this course offers the NC grade. It's usually offered in hard courses. Dear UCF, please please hire some new chemistry teacher for basic chem classes such as these.
Honestly, chem is a difficult subject. Given that, you gotta put in your own effort. Frazer is actually not that bad. You just really need to pay attention. Sit in the front of the class, focus on him, MAKE SURE YOU GO TO SI! I can't tell you how much it helps. He's a pretty funny dude too.
He's a pretty good teacher but horrible when it comes to office hours. He usually shows up late if at all
I really liked him as a person-very cool in office hours-not so much as a professor. I usually just played angry birds on my phone and let the SI leader teach me how to do everything because he was so unclear. You might as well accomidate your schedule around the SI schedule because that is the only reason I got a B in that class
he is absolutely horrible. for my class, didn't even give ppts; just breezed through them. take someone else, anyone else.
cool guy, not so much as a professor, im a chem major and he really tried to help me pass but, i ended up getting an NC..go to SI! its the only thing that will help you...or just take the placement test and take any 2045 professor they're all better than him
Unavailable to help outside of office hours. Even in office hours, he is not helpful because he works on his own work related to his research. Arrived late to class multiple times by more than 10 minutes. Never have met a professor so unwilling to help students because his interests lie elsewhere with a no care attitude. Do all work and still fail.
AWFUL stay away.not to sound obnoxious, but I'm a perfectionist and I've never failed in any class until this! He's confusing and hard to understand. Your expected to know how to do difficult problems before even starting the chapter and the tests are confusing because the material is not explained well. doing the problems in the book didn't help
This class was so simple. Ye, he might have an accent but this is a very easy subject if you actually pay attention. His tests were so straightforward, study your notebook and do practice problems. Not always there for you in his office hours though. A chem class could not be any easier. Lectures are boring but try hard to listen, it helps a lot
Please take someone else. I beg of you. you have to teach yourself everything, go to sarc AND si. You won't gain a thing from him.
Very fair, but at best a mediocre teacher. The subject is hard so naturally people are going to struggle. He gives hints for the material on the test. GO TO CLASS! Do exactly what he says and a A is attainable. Read and practice lots of problems. find patterns, don't just memorize. Best organic prof if you want a good grade.
If you want an A, look elsewhere. Shows up to class late half the time. First 2 tests were VERY difficult and random, with things never taught in class. Final is HARD. Last 4 tests were easier. Atleast 15-20 multiple choice questions per test. A couple reactions and mechanisms on most tests. Class is very disorganized. Avoid if you can.
I am in this class now and the first two tests were extremely difficult with alot of questions that were not covered in class. He has an accent but you can still understand him, he has a problem with saying "yea?" every three seconds. Doesn't give any powerpoints either. Go to SI.
Dr. Frazer was extremely helpful to those who would seek it out. Going to class is a huge priority because he does not post all of his notes online and he tells you exactly what will be on his tests in class.
BAD CHOICE. Then again, I wouldn't recommend any of the Organic II professors. Orgo professors at UCF fail miserably at presenting the material in a manner conducive to learning. Frazer's biggest downfall is the exams he gives are based on the OLD TEXTBOOK from over a year ago. Exam's will be on unfamiliar territory.
Absolutely terrible! Completely unwilling to help students, it took 3 emails over 4 wks just to see my tests he wouldnt return, tests on material from another book and lectures from copy/pasts ppts from the assigned book so class is quite useless as is the book material, very vague in explanations and allows no time for questions. I got an A tho
Excellent Professor. Very willing to assist if you ask. If you put in the effort, your grade will reflect it.
One thing you will learn from Dr. Frazer is HOW NOT TO TEACH. Also don't buy his friendliness. He will NOT help you. You are on your own when you take his class.
This class was very tough. The exams are extremely difficult. He does drop one exam, so that helps, but it is still hard to do well in this course. Go to his office hours for help and SI also. He is nice, but the class is hard.
He is a good teacher, but organic chem2 is a hard subject. You just have to do all the skill builders and problems in the back of the book twice and you should be fine. I received an A
Frazer is a cool guy and wants you to succeed. He does blow through material so if you can't study on your own or look at material before class, you'll have a hard time. His exams are out of 115 to 125 pts, 90 being an A so it's not impossible. If you sit first row and do well,he'll help you with anything you need. He gave me a LOR for med school.
Dr. Frazer expects you to be a Organic Chemistry genius. He goes extremely fast and does not explain concepts or problems clearly. He will NOT respond to ANY questions through email; if you want help you have to make an appt. for office hours (inflexible). He is knowledgeable about the subject but, he CANNOT teach it to others(No SI for us).
Met this instructor twice during the semester during random encounters in the lab where he wasn't a part of the class at all. Class proctored entirely by TA (Andrew Turner). Lab reports tedious with time-wasting "literature" assignments. Lab manual full of typos/missing information. Textbook only for report questions, not included in manual.
Great professor! Very knolegable and cares about His students. It's not an easy class; you will have to study hard; great for med school applicants!!! After taking this professor you will do great on chem section: no need to spend $$ for Kaplan review . Highly recommend.
DO NOT take him. He doesn't teach! Uses a diff textbook and he expects you to know Orgo as if you are the professor. Uh...I wouldn't be taking the class if I was at a professor level. Assigns exams whenever he wants; no set dates. Can hardly reach him. MUST schedule appt for office hours. Final is the ACS AND a free response section. No curve. -_-
He's 10+ minutes late everyday and therefore has to rush through the lecture. Nice guy, but seems really disorganized. Won't be taking him for future chem classes.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR, DO NOT TAKE!!! Doesn't respond to emails, changes test dates without good notice, doesn't attend office hours, is ~10 minutes late to class, getting a hold of him is impossible, blatantly lies about what's on the exam (will say it's math but the exam is all theory) and does not explain his expectations clearly. DO NOT TAKE.
AWFUL PROFESSOR. He seems knowledgeable and like a nice guy, but as a teacher, he is not ideal. Tests are very confusing and help is hard to come by. Does not answer emails, is late to class, and rushes through hard material. If you have an option, try not to take this class.
This class is a basic chemistry class, it should not be this difficult. Prof. Frazer is very smart, and knows what he is talking about. But his tests are ridiculous and confusing. Won't ever be taking him again for a chem class.
DO NOT TAKE! Worst professor I've had at UCF. He moves quickly through difficult material and his tests are extremely hard. I went to every class and numerous SI sessions and still did very poorly.
Useless teacher. He expect people to know chemistry for a introduction to chemistry class. Test were extremely difficult and he would test you on things he did not explain. He would post the quiz two days before they were due and would not inform anyone. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
DO NOT TAKE. He is an awful professor, the class should not be this difficult. Focuses on very small concepts on the tests and glazes over the big points he taught which makes the tests awful. Students in my class had to complain to the school and he gave us a curve but he's also rude and late to every class. Trust me do NOT take him.
If you plan on taking this class you honestly need to have either taken AP Chemistry in HS or some type of ADVANCED Chemistry course prior to taking this class. If you took regular Chemistry or Honors, you will struggle immensely and unless you teach yourself everything and read the book cover to cover, you will most likely fail.
Great professor, hard class but with proper studying it's easily passable. A lot of student responsibility he will not hold your hand, but he gives all the materials you need to pass.
Way too difficult of a class for a 1000 level. I took 3 years of IB chem and it still wasn't a breeze. He basically just reads the powerpoint. The homework is due randomly so it's easy to miss. He is unorganized and doesn't alert you. However, if you need any help or missed an assignment he is more than willing to help, SO USE IT. Not a bad class.
Avoid him if you can. He is a cool and funny guy but it seems like he just doesn't care about teaching. He reads straight off of powerpoint slides. The class was very disorganized(syllabus was wrong). I got an A but it required a lot of studying for tests. Make sure to study with smart friend; I learned so much more from my friends than Frazer.
Do NOT take this professor!!! Lectures are irrelevant to the tests. Promises a curve at the end and never comes through. Not worth your time.
A list of complaints from students that semester- all true and you can decide if he's worth taking. 1.) Shows up late to every class 2.) Reads directly from PP and doesn't do explanations 3.) Tests don't mirror class info at all 4.) Disorganized and quizzes/hw due can be assigned w.o him telling you 5.) If he's upset he throws a hissy fit in class
I understand not wanting to be swayed by biased comments, but never have i seen such an accurate page. saying more is almost redundant. i will say that, today i took an exam that had questions based off of material from 4 chapters ahead of what we are currently covering.rushes through lectures*scribbles mechanisms w/ PP. pen tool*unconcerned
Dr. Frazer is extremely helpful in office hours, should you choose to go. I got an A in this class through troubleshooting all of my past tests, make sure you take pictures of them and review prior to the final. There is a lot of personal responsibility involved, Dr. Frazer does not play around! Study hard and study early, and you should be fine.
This guy is an absolutely horrible professor. AVOID HIM!! He scribbles on his pp's during lectures, gives extremely hard tests. He is not clear of his expectations.
This professor is not curteous to his students. He will not explain concepts clearly. He does not tell you when assignments are placed online. This professor goes VERY FAST (like one chapter per lecture fast). You will have to put in an exponential amount of effort to survive this class.
The bottom line is that this is not an easy course, but he stays true to his syllabus. You cannot expect to earn an A just by attending lectures, as the lecture is only supplementary to the lesson in the book. Don't be scared by other reviews. You can, and will, pass this course if you are willing to put forth effort on your own time!
I only went to class a few times. I just read the book and took notes. The tests went right along with the book and OWL assignments.
Do not expect to pass just by attending the lectures, you must read the textbook. He posts his power point notes to webcourses. Only assignments are online quizzes which he is usually fair on the amount of time allowed. Tests are relatively easy if you study and do the assignments. Final was based off previous test questions. Has a ?British? accent
This professor is seriously horrible. He makes Patino seem like a great teacher, even though that guy good isn't either. The lectures aren't even worth going to. He gets off topic and starts talking how he likes his coffee creamed. At first, I thought his accent was cool but soon you realize that it starts to get on your nerves.
Has a thick accent that is understandable and jokes around a lot.
Organic Chemistry, in general, is a tough subject. Frazer adds entertainment value. People who complain generally don't do what is required to be successful in this type of course. Hence, no matter which orgo professor they take at UCF, they will find a reason to complain. Come to class, do organic chemistry everyday, and you will do well.
His accent really makes it hard to understand the lectures, he says hes going to curve and then doesn't, and he doesn't announce assignments and then you just see them online when it's too late. I had a tutor and studied for the tests harder than anything in my life and pulled out a D, ridiculous.
I ended up having to retake this chemistry class over again, and this semester I had Professor Frazer teach the chemistry class. Needless to say... I may have to retake the class AGAIN!! He doesn't seem to care about teaching. He blows everything off and says it's "stupid" or too easy and doesn't want to teach it to us. BEWARE OF THIS PROFESSOR!
Professor Frazer is not good. He is not helpful at all and extremely hard to reach. Barely answers emails. I had to teach myself and read the entire book. However, tests are pretty doable if you read the book and re-do the homework at least 3 times for each chapter. Didnt really go to lecture because its pointless.
I left the first exam feeling okay about it, maybe a B. The grades for this test were not posted until the day before the second exam (over a month). So by the time I knew how bad I was doing in the class, it was too late because i had to take test 2 the next day. Test 2 grades posted a month later, also. I dropped this class.
Long story short, self-teaching class. He storms through lectures so fast and skips the important information. Even if you attend his lectures, not much you can learn from them. Tests are hard. Takes him on average 3 weeks to grade the tests. Do not take him if you want to learn something..
Alright let me start by saying chemistry is not an easy course to begin with. There is a reason why Chem 1a has a NC rating, so remember you have to WORK for your grade. Nonetheless Proffesor Frazer is really a great go with the flow guy. A lot of students can relate to him and his accent is very unique. Take him, memorize his slides, and the book
I've taken Chemistry twice and he is the best Chemistry professor I had so far. He is clear on the ideas of chemistry but his test crazy hard, besides that, he is a great professor, willing to help during office hours.
AWFUL prof. Lectures hard to understand & don't cover material on test AT ALL. Tests EXTREMELY difficult, even when studying on own from textbooklectures. Doesnt care for students. First test gives hope, every one after that hard and late grading so before you know it you're failing the class. No EC, lies about curve. Not clear when hwkquiz due.
Frazer is awful, he doesn't communicate effectively at all, and is very inconsistent. Gave out reviews with errors on the answer keys and took forever to respond to emails. He has a very "I don't care" attitude.
Prof Frazer does a great job at trying to make Orgo interesting. Did not attend too many lectures because they are not helpful, the book is good. He takes approx. 3 weeks to grade exams and the review sheets posted do not always correlate to the material, or they go ahead in chapters that aren't covered on the exam. Overall, average-hard exams.
Do not take his class. He has a thick accent. He honestly doesn't care. He'll upload assignments without telling you. He thinks everything is easy and won't go into detail. He expects you to know everything. You practically have to teach yourself
Dr. Frazer is hilarious and very entertaining but when it comes to organic chemistry, you pretty much teach yourself with the book. He also says that the tests have questions directly from the book, well thats not true. More like ACS. first two tests are the easiest, get good grades on those. study hard. curves the overall grade when he has to.
Professor Frazer wasn't as horrible s the comments all say! He wants his class to pass. Practice! He gives 4 test plus a final. lowest test gets dropped and replaced by the final (if higher). He gives homework which can boost your grade if you put in effort. He has an accent but its not to bad. Pay attention, read his slides and you should be fine
Simple, if he is your only choice, wait another semester. I took Calculus 3 and Microbiology with his Orgo 1 class. I studied for his class 3 times as much (my girlfriend can tell you) and I got B in Calculus 3, A in Microbiology and C in his class. I also had a 3.93 GPA. TEACH YOURSELF. Read the book 2 or 3 times, his lectures are the worst ever
Dr. Frazer is a good guy. he knows his stuff. the problem is for the average individual taking this class its not too unusual to think its easy and then get hit with a bad grade like a truck. the material is pretty difficult and if you dont put in a TON of effort in youll get a wack grade. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: FIND A STUDY PARTNER!!! be prepared....
First test will make you think the class is gonna be a breeze but by the second test you are curled up on the floor crying wonder what just happened. He is funny and nice but is unclear and relies on textbook provided power points that do not help. It certainly is passable but if you are not incredibly gifted, you better get ready to study.
He's an awesome dude and made me laugh a lot, but I feel like my grades made him laugh. He was pretty tough and made us do everything pretty much ourselves. I didn't get credit for the course and a bunch of my friends in there barely passed. Wouldn't recommend him unless you want to just sit in there to laugh.
Avoid him at all cost
I have NO idea how this pathetic excuse for a professor is still at UCF. If they cared at all about the education that is given to their students they would have fired him semesters ago. His tests are fair, but his teaching is awful, his humor is inappropriate and he doesn't give a second thought to his students. Do us all a favor and quit, Frazer.
This course is hard to begin with. Frazer incorporates a few organic chemistry 1 reactions in his exams, which is what trips people up. They also expect his questions to be exactly like the textbook problems. DON'T have that misconception. READ the textbook. Make flash cards. You don't have to do thousands of practice problems to pass.
Funny guy, but he would rather research in the lab than teach, unfortunately. Lectures aren't great, but go to class because he tells you what will be on his free response. Multiple choice is based off of ACS questions. Very lax with rules, he doesn't follow his own syllabus. Assume anything can change on a whim. He's not mean, just eccentric.
Funny guy but terrible professor. He flies by with the power point and doesn't explain concepts very well. Expect students to understand everything and goes at a very fast pace. I've never felt so lost in a class before. Tests are hard but he does curve the final grade.
Super unclear, answers questions in a circular way. His accent makes things funny, but it doesn't make the material easy to understand. I feel bad for people who have to take him.
Organic chemistry is hard and Frazer does not help. It is easy to get lost during his lectures specially if you are new to the material. Must practice, practice, and practice to do well.
Awful. Reads off slides. That's about it.
Frazer is probably the best professor I have ever had. Lectures are PPslides. He tells you what will be on the test- if you catch it. He does not shoo you off and is happy to chat and help you. He helped me change my career choice to a better fit. Read before class, PAY ATTENTION, practice examples from slides. No cheap shots on tests.
Reads off PowerPoint slides. Lowest test grade is replaced by final if higher. Pay attention and do the example problems in the PowerPoints.
Pay attention and practice.
His accent was very hard to understand and taught very quickly. The textbook was required as you had to log on to the site to do homework and quizzes. Discussion sections did not really help. The tests were very difficult. If you did not have any advanced chemistry before him, do not take this class.
Terrible teacher, Frazer just reads off the PPslides and when it comes to doing practice problems he either says "you can do it on your own time", or he attempts it and gets it wrong. I'm convinced he doesn't know what he's doing at all. I'm barely making a B in his class. If you aren't good at chem and aren't good at teaching yourself, avoid him.
Frazier gives you 4 exams, 1 final, many online quizzes and assignments that can randomly pop up overnight and be due the next day with no warning, and NO extra credit! He is a very confusing guy.. says he is bored while reading his own powerpoints.. take somebody else
You can study A LOT and still end up with a bad Exam grade. He just reads off the Power Points and is very vague on what is and what isn't going to be on a test. He specifically said he doesn't want people coming to his office hours. Going to the SI sessions was the only thing that was salvaging my grades.
This class is ridiculous. Frazer is very confusing and I have tried to teach myself the whole course by reading the textbook. Frazer does not clarify anything, he will say that a test is on one specific chapter but be prepared because it definitely will not be. If you want to save your GPA do not take him
Avoid this professor at all costs. Attending lectures are pointless due that he is anything but helpful when it comes to learning chemistry. The only way of passing is to read the textbook and going to SI sessions. Also he is very unclear when it comes to what will be on tests. I would not take this professor again.
Andrew Frazer is not the teacher to take if you are trying ot understand concepts of Chemistry for a long academic career that involves divulging into harder science classes. He is not clear, has a thick English accent, and moves through his powerpoints in class exceptionally fast. Which makes going to class almost irrelevant. 0/10
This professor is not helpful at all. In his lectures he goes way to fast to do the practice problems he tells you to do, he's not clear on the details and tells you, you should already know this when it's new material. He will randomly assign quizzes and hw without you knowing and if you have a question and you email him or call he won't respond.
He is a terrible professor! If you are a part of the student accessibilities center, he will have a blatant disregard for the testing center. He will give the testing center the tests the morning and time of your test. If you bring this up to his attention, he will say that he doesn't do so. I have reported him to the department of chemistry.
He lectured by reading off ppt, didn't respond to emails, and rarely offered office hours. He was nice and passionate about chm (he asked me about research) but is terribly unorganized. Go to SI, read the book, do online quizes, find practices tests online, and watch khan vids. Try and keep above the test average and A on quizes, you'll get a B.
Frazer is the worst professor, he reads off of the PPT the entire class at an ungodly speed and his tests are super tough. My class's average for each test was around a 65. And don't rely on the curve either, cause there isn't one. I went to almost every single class and still didn't pass. RIP to my GPA. Would not recommend this professor ever!!!
Professor Frazer mad this class more difficult than it should have been. He is never clear about what will be on the exam and he leaves students guessing. He usually does not show up to his office hours. He also left adding quiz averages and curving all of the exams until the last second. Half the time you will not know what your real grade is.
His lectures aren't helpful (you can mostly get by with the textbook alone), but his office hours are useful. His tests don't cover the material that he says they do and often contain questions that contradict the notes, but he gives a curve at the end of the semester. Even with hard work, you can't be sure of a good grade. Would not recommend.
Don't do it. Just don't. If you want to do well, then don't take it with him. He makes the class more difficult than it needs to be. He is never clear with how he is grading things. Waits til the last second to finalize the grade. You'll continuously be in a state of panic and worry about his course! And it's not enough a rough course like orgo!!!
Be prepared to constantly seek help from the SIs and take Clutchprep because his exams are tough and he is very vague about the topics tested (in addition to the grading). I was full of anxiety thanks to the way he ran the course and struggled because he would just read off the slides. Do not take. If you do, be sure to take Clutch!
SUMMER 2016. Very chill and funny in class. Lots of self studying. Tests are multiple choice(absolutely ridiculously hard) and free response (easy). Reasonable at giving points back. Curves every test. Could be a little too blunt. English accent. No hw, no quizzes, no extra credit. You'll know what to expect for free response. Go to SARC and SI!!!!
People who do bad in Dr. Frazers class are those who do not attend class. He tells you EVERYTHING you will be tested on and he's a super nice guy both in class and in office hours! I would take him over again if I could. I learned so much he actually makes you think rather than testing you straight from simple book problems. Awesome guy!
This was my Chem 1 professor. This was the worst class I have ever taken. He does not care about teaching, will skip slides just because he figures you should know them. He had to give us a huge curve because the class average was in the low 40's. I am an A+ orgo student who got a C in his Chem 1 class.
May be the most unorganized professor I have taken in my entire lifetime. Doesn't have scheduled exams.. he will let you know when your exam is a week before, anxiety. Doesn't teach, rambles. Multiple choice questions are impossible. Good luck if you plan on taking him, you will need it.
Best Orgo professor ever, wish I could've taken him for Orgo 1 as well. tells you what you need to know and makes you feel like you can ask questions even in a lecture hall with hundreds of students!! Orgo 2 is a hard class, If you don't plan on studying and reading you won't pass!!!
Took him for Orgo 2. He isn't as bad as everyone says. Lectures are dry so if you can learn on your own, it's an easy B. Put in the work and you can get an A. Reading the chapters and doing the end of chapter problems twice helped me to get an A in the class. Study his previous exams and SI reviews before each exam were helpful.
His class is very tough, I struggled a lot with the way that he taught but that is not to say he is a bad professor by any means. When he says to read the chapter ahead of lecture YOU BETTER DO IT because he teaches assuming you have some previous knowledge. His tests are fair and often heavily hints at what to focus on. Visit his office hours too!
Frazer is definitely not the type of professor to hold your hand or even be accessible throughout the class but he is VERY clear on what will show up on the exam. I'd say about 1/4 of the class actually showed up to lectures, but if you go he will literally tell you exactly what mechanisms you need to know.
DO NOT TAKE HIN FOR ORGO 1 !! Worst professor of my life. I got stuck with him and I had to drop due to possibly failing. Lectures are all over the place, tests ridiculousl hard and come from nothing in the book, doesn't email back, rude, skips chapters and says learn yourself. Averages on test were 30s, 75% of class dropped. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS
TERRIBLE. I dropped this class after the first exam because I knew i wouldn't pass with him. He is does not care about teaching it seems like he just talks to talk. He skips over numerous concepts and his exams are impossible. My roommate is in his orgo 1 class and she is struggling to pass. He was my first withdraw and I am honestly happy I did.
orgo is not like any other chemistry, its a whole different language. Frazer is so smart but doesn't explain things fully and expects you to read the chapter before you come to class so that he can skip the basics. Definitely read the book if you want to pass, if not this class is going to be a struggle
The best word to describe Frazer is "volatile". His lectures are alright in and of themselves, but good luck doing well on the tests; they are free response and multiple choice, and the multiple choice questions oftentimes have NOTHING to do with what you are taught at all. I think there's a curve at the end, but it isn't worth the stress.
READ what everybody is saying. He is the worse professor ever! Hes lectures are pointless plus 50% of the time he is wrong. He spends 20 minutes on his problems but at the end they are always wrong. To be honest i dont know how he is teaching. I emailed him several times but didnt work. Dont do this to your self, avoid this dude!!!!!!!!
AVOID! Saying "get ready to read" doesn't even cover it, because I could know the textbook in and out, and still fail his exams! He would cancel and change test dates for every exam, sometimes with only a two hour notice. The class was so unorganized, and it was extremely difficult and frustrating. I am having to retake Orgo over the summer.
Do yourself a favor and avoid him at all costs. The tests were all over the place and you never knew more than a few days in advance. You'll get your grade for one test the day before the next one.
If you are a student that can learn by teaching yourself and reading textbooks, then you will do fine in Frazer's class. But I would because other than the immense reading that is required, he is very disorganized. He made it difficult to have any kind of time management for test dates would change ALL THE TIME. Frustrating.
No one ever knew when the tests were going to be or what was going to be on them. did not follow the syllabus, jumped around weirdly in the textbook, and the last test still hasnt been graded on the night before the final. cancelled 3 or 4 classes throughout the semester. orgo is hard and his disorganization made it even harder.
Very difficult tests (you basically have to cheese the system and find out where he gets them from to reliably do well), subpar lectures which don't do well to prepare students for the multiple choice aspect of tests, and very difficult to get hold of unless you're his friend. He is a nice guy, but if you value your grade, take someone else.
Professor Frazer is a super cool guy and really cares about his students. His lectures are not very helpful and he is disorganized. He doesnt give hw so reading and doing examples from the book is legit the way to pass the class. Youtube, sarc, and the book saved me. Go to his office after class, very helpful! final replaces lowest test grade
Dr. Frazer IS the most amazing and caring professors I have ever met throughout my years in college. He values hard work and cherishes loyal students who are there to not just pass, but to engage in the subject and learn. His lectures are informative and representative of the material tested on. He makes learning fun despite a tough subject.
Frazer is an amazing professor! He tells you EXACTLY what you need to know for the test! Anyone who doesn't do well either did not pay attention or simply didn't come to class.
Dr. Frazer is an AMAZING professor and hands down one of the best professors that I had the honor of having at UCF. He cares about his students and really wants you to learn the material. He prepares you for every test and gives alot of resources. This class is not going to be easy, you have to be willing to put in the time studying to get an A.
Worst professor I have ever had! Lectures were pointless.. he would teach abc... then xyz would be on the test. I have no idea how this guy still has a job! He is great with orgo but has no idea how to teach. Spends half the class on nonsense problems then halfway through the problem says "oops, well you guys go figure it out". What was the point..
Before every exam he would put an "assignment" on webcourses. This assignment had 75-100% of the content on the exam. Go to SI to do the assignment and understand it and its an easy A-B+. He lectures expecting you to have already studied the content in the book/ppts. Uses technical terms only so I always had a lil vocab sheet with me and I was fine
Frazier is the worst orgo professor at UCF! You could do everything to study for the exams like read and take notes from book and lecture, go to SI sessions, do all the problems in the book and homework to the point that you understand it entirely and still fail! Even if you got an A in orgo 1, DO NOT TAKE HIM!
I had him for Orgo 1 and 2, and I feel like he is the best choice at this school. Orgo is just a tough subject in general so a lot of studying will be done. Buy the book and solutions manual, they help so much. He's an entertaining, but not so great lecturer. I learned mostly from the book and SARC. Does give a curve to all exams and final grade.
The material is hard and there is a lot of it, no way around it. He really cares about his students and wants everyone to do well. Read the chapter before coming to lecture, hell go over what he feels is important or difficult to grasp. He gives sample tests before the actual test that closely reflect what will be on the test.
The one thing every rating from past students failed to mention is that Prof. has a VERY thick Yorkshire accent. He's wntertaining and caring, but lectures are slkghtly hard to follow since he goes so fast and goes from topic to topic sporadically. SI and SARC are a must. Also our final is the ACS. Another important thing left out.
He really cares about his students. He gives practice exams that resemble the real exam.
Frazer is a good guy at heart but has a STRONG accent and is VERY disorganized. The test dates are NOT included in the syllabus and he likes to tell you about it 2 classes before the test. Other than his clicker questions, ACS final exam and difficulty of his other exams, the class is okay. Reading the textbook is a MUST. Lots of homework as well.
Nice guy, bad professor. One of the worst experiences in my college career. I got a 98% in Orgo 1 but did horrible in this class. The class average for each test was around 68% I went to every single lecture and studied for every test. He gives practice exams which help for the free response but the multiple choice is impossible! Find someone else!
This class was INCREDIBLY unorganized. Tests took weeks to grade, often times we would not know the grade on our exam until the day before the next exam. Frazer wants us to succeed, but lacks consistency. He messed up a lot of students' grades and did not go by the syllabus and drop the assignments he said he would. This semester was a headache.
Dr. Frazer does not teach, he says what is going to be covered but understanding it is entirely up to the individual. He goes off topic every lecture and struggles to keep a consistent pace. Grading is harsh, one thing off and its all wrong. This course is doable, but not under the guidance of Frazer.
Dr. Frazer is an extremely friendly and nice man. He also seems to truly want the students to learn the material and do well in the class, which means a lot to me as a student. This being said, it may be hard to understand him in the beginning due to a strong British accent, and the speed at which he talks. Lots of homework and very hard exams.
After carefully reading these reviews, I'll say that professor Frazer has apparently changed a lot! These reviews scared me, but I realized that most of u are BLOOMING lazies, want everything done 4 u. He's approachable, ASKS for feedback. FAST PACED. Tests are easy if you read and practice tons. Read chapter b4 lecs. Check online stuff every day.
He's funny but has HIGH expectations. Daily HW due that took 4 hours to complete. Assignments due were on chapters we weren't even covering yet. Clickers graded on accuracy for things you don't know yet. It's a doable class but his disorganization is what makes it tough since you're learning 2 different things at once. I only went cus of clickers
He is an entertaining guy but it is not easy to understand the information he is giving you
AVOID! He should not be teaching. Gives you so much busy work as HW & is nothing like tests. Doesn't announce quizzes so you miss due date. Tests are doable as long as you study HARD on your own because he doesn't teach you & rambles on. You're forced to go to class as he GRADES clickers & only gives you 30 sec to solve the whole problem!
If you put in the work an A is beyond easy. Take good notes during class, read the textbook, and practice the past tests he gives out. He provides everything you need to succeed. I don't understand why people rag on him or this class. Very good professor.
Avoid at all costs! Not very good at chemistry and makes LOTS of mistakes. Doesnt teach clearly based in examines. Seems good at first until test time. Then you realize there is a problem. Take with another professor, just save yourself the stress.
Unorganized. Doesn't care about students. 6 Homeworks a week. Clickers count as a test grade and you have ONLY 30 seconds to answer them. Dont take. Pass on this guy
This class has 5 exams plus the final (ACS), a lot of homework, pre-lecture assignments, quizzes, and clicker points. You need to read the book and practice! He goes pretty fast in class and does breeze over the material. However, hes a fair grader and gives help if you go to his office. I also suggest going to SARC/SI. Take all the help you get
Hands down, one of the best chemistry teachers I've ever had. Very helpful in office hours. Made lectures fun and interesting and easy to pay attention to and made me want to learn. Really wants to see students succeedVery clear and fair course grading. Slightly disorganized schedule. Test dates were only announced a maximum of a week ahead of time
Prof. Frazer is an enigma to UCF. He has a bad rep but if you make an effort to go to his office hours he is very helpful. His exams cover parts of some chapters and not others, but he does post practice exams beforehand and the questions resemble it well. He does show up late and isn't always the most accessible and he doesn't curve the ACS either
He gives very hard exams, mostly due to the written portions, but as long as you make sure to do all of the homework and study, you should do fine. He typically gets many Exam questions from his Quizzes, and there is usually a practice exam of one of his previous exams posted ahead of time by a TA/SI instructor. He genuinely wants you to learn.
Frazer has got to be the worst professor I've ever had. He consistently shows up late. Takes forever to grade test and assigns stupid amounts of homework, that take away from time you need for actually studying. He gives practice exams, that barely if at all reflect the actual exams. Super rude to students, and unreachable if you need to contact.
Worst professor I've ever had. Gives so much homework that has nothing to do with the material on his tests. His lectures are awful, he barely explains anything. His tests are doable but he grades the written portion very hard and takes forever to put in grades. Only accessible in office hours and even then he isn't much help. Would NOT recommend.
I don't think I've laughed harder during a lecture or cried harder over a class in my life. Dr. Frazer is one of the greatest science professors I've had at UCF. His exams are not extremely difficult, so long as you do your reading and practice exams (to which the mechanisms and synthesis are nearly 1:1 to the actual exam), you'll do well.
Dr. Frazer was almost never around, except for three lectures. Never really got to see him very much, which was a shame, because I enjoyed listening to him lecture. Lab report grading was harsh yet fair and the final was straightforward.
This was probably the most annoying class I've ever taken. The pros: drops a test, final test replaces your second lowest (as if u can do well on the ACS). The cons: consistently late to lecture; doesn't respond to emails; makes u calculate ur own grade; grades tests insanely slow (didn't know one test grade until the DAY OF the withdraw deadline)
Hands down the worst professor at UCF. Does not answer questions during office hours. No time to study for other organized classes. My GPA fell because this professor is completely disorganized caused me to get 2 C's which was completely avoidable! Last minute exams with no fair amount of time to study only to cram. DO NOT TAKE ! FIND TEST BANK!!
This is a hard class by itself, with Frazer it is a nightmare. Frazer has 6 tests, online modules, tophat questions, and an ACS as the final. The worst part is there is no defined schedule, so you never know when the next test will be. I'm not sure if he even cares, or if tophat counts. Always study posted practice tests. Perseverance is key.
We had 6 tests, plus the ACS final so there was a test at least every two weeks. He gives an insane amount of homework due every week and clicker questions in class. His grading scale does not even follow the syllabus so good luck knowing your grade as assignments are input late, he doesnt respond to emails and is hard to find during office hours.
Worst professor ever. He wants you to come to office hours and take to him about everything but his office hours are so limited and is always pack. He will not help you at all. do hw to boost your grade. he is super unorganized. It is so common for him to lose your test or grade stuff incorrectly. All of the reviews about him are very accurate.
Frazer was tough but doable. Do his practice tests as the written portion is almost the same as the real test-6 tests in total plus the ACS final - doesn't announce tests until a couple of days before. I would recommend the Klein book-read before class. Try your best on TopHat bc its worth an entire test grade. Nice guy to talk to but hard class.
His class was tough but if you read the book & do the practice exams an A is doable I ended up getting a B because I did poorly on the first two exams. (really bad) Going to office hours is helpful when the TAs are there. Look for the blonde girl or tall guy they can usually tell you what to expect & tell you where you made mistakes on last exam
Worst professor ever. Belives he is cool, clearly NOT. Completely disrespectful to students. You won't understand anything in his lectures. If you have anything else going on in your life DO NOT TAKE HIM. If you have a good Orgo base and don't work or have other tough classes it will be ok. You have to read, go to SARC, go to SI and read again.
First time writing on here b/c this professor was the WORST professor ive ever had at ucf. orgo II is very difficult and he just makes it worse. He does not care for his students, best bet is go to office hours and PRAY he likes u or else its pointless. VERY disorganized. Never knew/announced exams. He's RUDE. and going to lecture was useless
Took in summer, and there was a clear schedule for exams. Practice tests are old exams - at least half the questions are the same. Lecture goes over what's on exams, but not how to do everything (go to SARC). Frazer isn't fake nice, but is reasonable and, deep down, a very optimistic person. Go to office hours early and have a sense of humor.
Honestly the absolute worst. Please don't take him if you can avoid it. This class is disorganized and unfair. He made it way more difficult than it needed to be. If you can't avoid his class, good freaking luck bro. Be prepared to teach yourself everything. Try to befriend him and maybe he'll help you out.
for Orgo II, I averaged a strong B (87ish) on all 5 of his lecture exams. His final was the ACS-standardized final exam (which is orgo I and orgo II cumulative), and suffice to say I bombed it. With no curve on the final, I ended with a C.
Failed first time, second time taking his class and I ended up taking a W, he legit does not care how much of an effort your are putting, he makes the exams WR challenging and on top of that weighs a big portion of your exam on it does not give you enough points for trying also heavy hmwork load and wont help you at the end w/grade. lesson learned!
Frazer was the final straw that broke my back and made me transfer. We had to take EIGHT regular exams along with the final exam (which wasn't curved). The class average was consistently in the 50s, yet he never bothered to address this. On top of all this, he makes you do reaction mechanisms with more than a dozen steps. Avoid like the plague.
Professor Frazer is my absolute favorite professor at UCF. He is very positive and friendly. However, you must be prepared for each class, so my advice is to read some chapters before you take his class. He is very accessible in his office hours. His TA's are very friendly. You can ask them questions before each test. A or B grade is very possible.
The class is fine if you are inherently good at chemistry. The tests seemed fair and for the most part relevant with what is taught in the book. 6 midterms with the lowest dropped + ACS final. The professor was not great at explaining concepts nor course grading guidelines. Did not appreciate professor's attitude. Glad to be done with this class...
I withdrew from this class after getting a B on the first test. Here is why: No curve or partial credit, qs were 300x harder out of nowhere. I chose to stay in the GroupMe for this class out of curiosity and on the ACS, 59 people got Fs and 22 people got grades other than an F. I am an A student so I'm not biased because I failed. He cannot teach.
Finally passed his class the 3rd time! Go to his office hours!! Cant stress this more! If you are struggling with a C, you wont pass. Review your tests (he makes a note of it). Last semester he was unclear about the grading system and it caused a lot of frustration. Make sure youre clear on how its all graded for your class!
Unhelpful in office hours, dismissive of my questions or unhelpful when he did answer. Does not communicate well with his students at all, or plays favorites with who he will reply to. Is confused about his own syllabus and grade break down, probably doesnt even know whats going on in his own class. Go to SARC and SI if you want to survive.
Tests are manageable if you do enough practice problems but questions will be given that were never reviewed in class, READ THE TEXTBOOK. ACS final is 20% of grade & no curve & has an F average. 6 Midterm exams, 1 gets dropped. Time consuming homework, get chegg. U have to calculate your own grade throughout the sem. since it doesnt show on WebC.
I had frazer this fall and let me just say he is nothing like what is written on this website, idk if he's changed or has always been like this but I loved his class. Always trying to get to know his students, asking for feedback, a little fast paced but you end up learning so much. His exams are a lot tougher than the ACS and make u study hard.
Considering the pandemic this semester, it was extremely different than what other students in the past had experienced. This class was my most challenging class at UCF so far with the standard in-class tests being difficult and a fast-paced course, although I do feel like he wants students to succeed, and moving the class online did help.
Overall, Professor Frazer is not as bad as people say he is. Yes he is a very tough grader and yes the material is extremely difficult to grasp at times. But he expects the best out of his students (studying outside of class, going to SI or SARC, etc) and has a lot of passion for organic chem. Passed the class but still had to work for it.
Professor Frazer is a tough grader, expects a lot of self-learning. I took organic chemistry 2 with him, and yes it's a hard class I learned every day every night to get an A. He gave us extra clickers so if you miss some it's not the end of the day. But overall he could offer more help to students, and make the grading more fair
Frazer was an okay professor, but he made the class pretty difficult at times. Also when it was switched to online mode for the second half of the semester, he wasn't really lenient with the grading or exams at all. -
Not much of a bad person himself but his course is a bit of a bundled mess with various problems. Exams are made tougher by his own whim so be careful to study more than what you need to usually.
The absolute worst. Avoid AVOID. Is rude to students in class. Very disorganized. Exam content does not match at all what is taught. Will test up to 2 chapters ahead of where we are in class so always read ahead. Dont even try to email him because his responses are usually 2 or 3 words if he even responds. Uses office hours to lecture so go. SI!!
frazer was very passionate about orgo, but extremely unorganized, rude, and careless the entire semester. emails are either never answered or answered with 1 word that is no help. no accommodation for mistakes HE made (like not posting an exam). no warning of changes to the syllabus or revisions to it. his lectures are good but that is about it
Hands down the worst class I've had at UCF. I was a 4.0 student up until this class. VERY misleading when it came to exams. I did the practice tests (past exams) and got As, then consistently got Bs and 1 C on exams, could not recover even though I got an A on the final. Does not curve, changes syllabus on a whim, tests don't match lectures/book.
I see a lot of people dogging him, and I know in my class the problem was that students are more entitled and fell they deserve things or have to actually work for an A for the first time. Not an easy class, but Frazer is awesome, stayed over time in office hours constantly, really cared, and put a lot of his own time into helping those who asked.
Clearly Frazer leaves some reviews for himself. Andrew Frazer was embarrassing to have as a professor. He was unbelievably rude to students, making his class unnecessarily uncomfortable and stressful. His exams did not match up with what he taught. Material would be taken from far in the future chapters for exams.
The prof does care for his students but often does not finish lectures on time and expects students to go to office hrs if they want the rest of the info. He is knowledgeable but I gets sidetracked and takes forever to explain one thing. His TAs were super helpful though during office hrs. Make sure to read the txtbook and use the hw as practice
This was hands down the hardest class I've taken. The HW was time consuming and the tests were insane. You'd get an A on the practice test than an F on the actual test. His test questions will be nothing like the practice exam or anything in the book. Class would be scheduled to end at 5:45 but he'd ask Reef Q's until 6:30.... Avoid like the plague
DO. NOT. TAKE. FRAZER. As a professor, he is horrible and not understanding of students. 10/10 wouldn't recommend. As someone said, Avoid like the plague!!
I just took my 5th exam and here is what I have to say and I will back it with actual numbers. I got a 100% on both practice quizzes meant to prepare us for the exam and got an F on the exam nonetheless. Our groupme took a poll and 75 people got a D or F (58 being Fs) while 33 people got a C or above on the exam. And no, he doesn't curve. AVOID!
No, he is NOT easy. His exams pull mechanisms from another planet and the HW is just busy work. But, it's doable. Reef is 10% of your grade and thats HUGE. Connect is another 10%. A C is a 65%. You have to grind everyday just to pass, but I don't really blame Frazer for how hard it is. Orgo II in general is just extremely difficult.
Dr. Frazer is definitely the best orgo professor at UCF. This material is VERY hard but he is really understanding and will always do his best to help you. The organization of the material is a little sloppy at time but he gives a pretty generous amount of assignments (plus final replaces lowest test grade) and extra credit to boost your grade.
Do NOT take Frazer. He is absolutely awful. I am usually an A student, but this class was impossible. I would take practice tests/quizzes and get 100's as well as notes on every chapter and lecture just to get to the tests and not recognize material from half of the questions. he does not respond to emails & does not care about his students. AVOID
Just finished orgo 2 with Dr. Frazer. Is the class hard-yes, is he a tough professor-yes, is it a lot of material-yes. A 4.0 junior here and this is my first B in college. This class is vey time consuming. It is doable but be ready to put in a lot of work! GO TO ALL OFFICE HOURS, SI, watch pre-recorded videos beforehand, go to every class! PRACTICE
Frazer did not seem to care about the circumstances of C-19. This is my first C. Definitely learned more from reading the book than any of his useless lectures, which are required because of iClickers. He would often go 40 minutes past the end of class and rant. Tests did not reflect any material in hw or quizzes. In the end, he doesnt really care
This class is the hardest I've ever taken. The exams have lots of irrelevant information not talked about too much in class. The book will be your best friend. Dr. Frazer seems like a nice guy but tests were more difficult than they needed to be and there was no extra credit to boost your grade. An A is barely doable if you commit LOTS of time.
Interesting class and fun lectures, but VERY difficult exams, even by Orgo. standards. I got through by reading the chapters BEFORE lecture (or watching the pre-lecture videos), participating in class (!!), doing all HW/practice tests, and watching youtube videos. He and TA's also are available throughout the week to help-- take advantage of this!
Dr. Frazer is AMAZING! His class is very difficult. It's ORGO 2, it's intimidating, but he explains thoroughly. Best recommendation is to PRACTICE, do tons of practice with all the different mechanisms. Towards the end a lot of the mechanisms seem merely the same. Tests are hard but not impossible. Overall, a great teacher!
You definitely have to work hard to get a good grade in this class. He does his best to explain concepts and there are multiple resources to get help. There are connect quizzes and lockdown browser quizzes in addition to his exams and barely any extra credit. He did let final replace lowest grade.
Hes a cool guy and tries his best for you to learn but his tests do not reflect that much of what is shown in class. He offers practice tests and theyre way easier than the actual test. His hw are 10qs, has quizzes, but no extra credit. Go to class to get iclicker points they really help your grade. Overall, his class sucks but hes cool
He doesn't respond much to emails. He's a chill dude but sometimes his test didn't present what we were thought. You have to really devote time to this class or else you won't do well.
I have never had difficulty with chem classes before... until this class. Dr. Frazer is a professor that rewards hard work and gives many opportunities to those that want to put in the effort to actually receive help. He has a great roster of TA's that were immensely helpful. Be warned this class is hard but the prof is good. Focus up and charge on
He will skip material in class and ask students to attend office hours instead which in not very convenient for those that work as well.
Never have I taken a class so difficult. Not difficult in the sense of material, Organic Chem is fun once you get the hang of it! Difficult in the sense that Frazer doesn't care for his students, makes unbelievably irrelevant and hard exams, doesn't give any reviews/release answers, and has an avg. exam grade far lower than others. DO NOT TAKE!!!
Funny guy, but by far the worst professor I've had so far. The exams are horrible, heavy, barely cover the material, and he doesn't release correct answers so you'll never know what you need to improve on. I could teach this class and know the material very well, got A's on all HW/Quizzes, doesn't matter, exams will still blindside you every time.
Worst professor I've ever had. Exams are 70% of your grade and most of the material on what we've learned. He never releases the answers to tests/quizzes so you don't know what to improve on. The material is very doable but he is not fair. I get As on all HW/quizzes and pay for an outside resource but his tests blindside you. Avoid like the plague!
Enjoyed his lectures. Hes funny but was constantly rude to me all bc I struggled in his class, making me uncomfortable. Orgo is hard as is; why shame students? Exams are extremely hard, nothing like his practice tests, always blindsided me. He has amazing TAs that are very helpful. Id only recommend if you can self teach and REALLY good at orgo
do NOT take frazer. he speeds through lectures & skips over important points, so we had to teach ourselves a lot of material. only a few curves on exams, only about 4-5 points, even with 50% averages. always goes over scheduled class time. TAs explained more than frazer did during lecture.
HORRIBLE TEACHER. I SWARE ON MY LIFE IF YOU GOTO EVERY LECTURE, READ EVERY CHAPTER, DO ALL ASSIGNMENTS, AND ANSWER THE BOOK QUESTIONS, YOU WILL DO HORRIBLE ON THE TESTS. THE TESTS ARE FROM OUTER SPACE. I AM A CHEM MAJOR, AND A HUGE FAN OF SCIENCE AND CHEMISTRY, THIS CLASS IS PSYCHOTIC. AVOID THIS CLASS, AND AVOID FRAZER. you have been warned.
The professor is kinda nice but he was really rude to certain students during class and it was embarrassing watch. The exams are honestly pulled from outer space because they're NOTHING like the practice material we are given. The TAs ignore almost every question they're asked and it seems like they don't know orgo either, except basic material.
The grading scale is so confusing that many students are going into the final not knowing whether they are going to pass or fail. Most of the exam averages are Fs! And the professor and TAs don't care. They will not try to help us. They all made me feel dumb as dirt but they're also the ones who can't answer the professor's questions in lecture /:
Disrespectful to students. Won't answer questions in class. Never answers emails. Completely inaccessible (went to office hours multiple times and he wasn't there or TAs wouldn't let me speak to him directly). Skips material in class if it's gone over in office hours (not recorded). Calls on people randomly in class. Contradicts the book often
Frazer made this course unreasonably difficult. Refused to answer questions in class, never at office hours, lectured past class time, contradicted the textbook, made trick questions on exams, and was rude to students. Grading scale is too harsh, never curves even when the average is very low. Refuses to admit he can be wrong. My first B, ever :(
Awful. The exams NEVER line up with the material covered in class. There would be topics on the exam from future chapters. Lectures are terrible. If you want to pass get as many extra points from reef you can. He can comes off as rude sometimes. Don't ask questions in class, he wont answer . Never get to see your grade. Grading is unorganized. No..
Organic chem is a difficult class, everyone knows this. But this professor takes the cake for making this class harder than it needs to be. Disrespectful and rude and never provides a curve or EC. Took this man for two semesters, so I would know (not my choice, didnt know who my prof was until it was too late). Take Daoudi if you have the option.
Orgo is difficult. The organization of Frazer's class makes it much worse. Many quizzes, you must attend lecture for REEF. Exams do not reflect the material covered, you must CONSTANTLY be working on this class on your own time. Do not expect curves. Do every single assignment and quiz. You must know how to study very effectively. No leeway.
Basically, he does not teach the material well. When he is not attempting to explain confusing concepts, he will roast anyone in class that does not know the material that he does not teach well. Even with a class average of 50-60 he will not make any attempts to curve the exams or let us see the tests to see what we got wrong. Horrible Professor.
To pass you need at 65%. Going in the class is curved. Not only that but at the end there was about 2-3 curves. Did you have to reach out for help? Yes. Any reviews saying TA's didnt help is not true. You had to bring your own questions for the help (SI, OH). Were tests hard? Absolutely. Dont just study, you actually have to UNDERSTAND the material
Hated the class. Hated the professor. Hated the TAs. I don't even know how I got a B in the class because my grades still show a C. Grading scale is confusing. Tests are literally rocket science. He loves to embarrass his students and not teach important topics during lecture. Even topics he says not to study he puts on the exam. Avoid him
Dr. Frazer was one of the funniest teachers I have had in my life. Was always excited to go to lecture and listen to his hilarious stories. Most people complain that he calls people out for not knowing the material, but that's how it is in the real world. Makes you work for your grade, prepares people for real life, no sugarcoating from him.
Frazer's class is not the worst I've taken, but it's up there. Frazer himself ruins the class by being rude and making his tests harder than what was taught. And by rude, he's intentionally disrespectful to students. Overall, he's just another terrible professor in UCF's chemistry department. You can't really avoid him either for majors, 3/10
Dr. Frazer is a great professor. Just know that Orgo 2 is a weed-out course and be prepared to put in some serious work to pass. Dr. Frazer does a good job explaining subjects in class and definitely cares about his students. However he will not baby you, and it is up to you to study. The SI sessions help a lot with this class.
Frazer is not a good professor, however this class is manageable if you put forth a ridiculous amount of effort. I always attended his lectures, went to SI/SARC sessions, hired a private tutor, read the textbook, memorized his slides, and did a bunch of practice problems. Basically, you need to study for this class as if it were a full time job.
Frazer class definitely wasn't easy but it is doable if you put in the effort. His lectures and practice exams were very helpful and he is always open to helping you during his office hours. The only bad thing was the ACS which is the department's decision and not his. The bad rating probably came from student who didn't study or put in the effort
Orgo is a hard class but he does his best in breaking down topics so you can easily understand them. His TA were really helpful so I recommend going to office hours. The grading scale is already curved generously , just put in some effort and youll be find
Frazer is so funny and I always look forward to going to class. Like everyone else says the class is pretty hard but orgo is a tough subject. I had this along with anatomy and studied a couple days before an exam. You definitely have to put in the work. He very nice despite what everyone says and always open to help you
Its a weed out class for a reason
This class is meant to be difficult for a reason. Study his practice exams and go over the textbook and study a LOT to have a chance to pass his class.
5 exams - use materials from the TAs google drive, his past lecture exams, and the quizzes to study. questions are very similar if you do it right. need 100 iclicker questions and 100 hw points, easy points right here. final is acs exam, get current acs prep book and study all practice questions multiples times, will easily pass acs.
I struggled going into the semester, however Frazer did the opposite of encourage those lagging in his class. He called them stupid, disgraceful & shameful for not knowing the content. This was the first class I've gone to where it was an emotional struggle just to attend class physically. If you are not a chemistry prodigy, avoid him. Please...
You will not get out of this class what you put in. Rude and disrespectful to students and it feels like he is working against you the majority of the time. The only saving grace is homework and clicker questions having a decent amount of weight to save your grade. If you can help it, and you value your mental health, avoid. At all costs.
As I read the book in Prof. Daoudi's Orgo I class and received an A, I expected orgo II tests to be based primarily on the book as well. This was not the case. His exams are seemingly not based on anything, and good luck finishing them in the time allotted! Somehow got an A. Study a lot of orgo I for ACS final! He is a funny guy though.
I actually enjoyed his lectures, you could tell he cared. I recording my notes on my ipad and reviewed them. Watch his lecture videos relating to the material on his youtube and use the practice he posts/ the google drive made by a TA and Si leader. Skim the chapters and do a little practice from them but don't spend most of your time on the book.
that previous post should be a 4 in difficulty
I will say his class is pretty intimidating, but its best to read ahead and be prepared for class. For the exams just really drilling practice problems like crazy and homework was a huge help. Once you get the hang of his exam style it's not as bad. He is very funny during lectures and has a pretty interesting way of explaining the content.
This class is hard. It's not because of the professor though, it's just a difficult subject. Frazer is one of the best professors I've had in my time at ucf. He is caring and really makes sure to engage with students during lectures. If you go to his classes and watch the prelecture videos you will pass. His tests are doable as long as you study.
His gradebook was not set up therefore there were no grades available and I had no idea what I had in the class. I had to withdraw from the class as no assistance was provided from him. I knew all the material yet still failed exams. My GPA is above 3.5 and I was not about to mess it up. Horrible experience.
Dr. Frazer is one of the best professors I've had. Not only does he engage with his students but he also cares about those who are struggling. Note that he can only help if you ask. He cannot help if you are silent about it. I recommend taking him for orgo 2. He's very easy to talk to. There are 5 exams and an acs final. Study or you won't pass.
Its orgo chem, not intro to pop music. you need to put a TON of effort in, USE ALL THE RESOURCES, once you do it's 2nd nature-you WILL get an A. Do assignments EARLY, buy the acs stuff, PRACTICE. Frazer's my favorite professor thus far. Genuinely cares about his students and is SO FUNNY. Never seen students more engaged and comfortable in a class.
this class is NOT friendly to students who have a heavy course load, work, or w/e else. office hours to him is a second lecture time. he will go over material there & expect you to know it for exams. 100% UNFAIR to students who CAN NOT MAKE IT! it is also not recorded. there will be stuff on the ppts & he says "go to office hours & we go over that"
His class was the best worst time I've ever had. Very engaging and really tries to get his students involved in learning. His exams are hard but they are fair. It is difficult subject but he has many resources with the TA's, practices q's, and SI. Not as bad as everyone makes him seem and wants students to succeed but you have to put in work.
Frazer wasn't a bad professor and I'd say the tests are pretty fair but not easy and that's mostly what your grade was based on. I averaged a 76 of all my exams and still ended with a low B due to other classwork barely helping my grade and no curves were given. Also, he hides your grade so you have no idea what you have all semester.
Make sure to attend class, and go to SARC/SI/TA Office hours. All of these will help a lot. Tas and Dr.Frazer are nice they will always be glad to help, so don't be shy to ask questions. Make sure to watch the pre-lectures before coming to class, do every assignment, and REEFs! There are 5 tests, but one can replace the final.
Yeah, its as bad as you think it will be. Don't take it with hard classes and you'll prob be fine
He is as bad as everyone says but he might be one of the better options at UCF unfortunately. I thrived in ORGO 1 with Daoudi and STRUGGLED to even pass ORGO 2 with Frazer. Best advice I can give you is to do well on the first 3 exams bc that is what will save your grade. National avg for ACS final is 57% and Frazer does not curve.
Grades are heavy on exams, a lot of assignments are same as same value as exams. He is one of the hardest/worst professors ever taken. Lectures are utterly useless and his iClickers are hard and make no sense. Exams have nothing to do with his lectures and set you up for failure. Make sure to go to Office hours before exams.
He is amazing as long as you pay attention and go to class. Read the textbook and use his practice tests.
Don't take this professor if you can. Don't take this with any other classes. Makes jokes more than teaching. Does clickers way too fast. Doesn't explain anything well. They say Ta's and tutoring is your saving grace and if you don't have time for that, you're going to fail for sure. Run from this man.
Compared to Daoudi, Frazer is definitely easier when it comes to his exams. Yes, the questions are tougher in Frazer's class compared to Daoudi's, but most of his questions had obvious wrong answers. That remained consistent throughout the semester. I studied significantly less for orgo 2 than orgo 1 and received higher exam scores.
This was such a difficult class for me. And Frazer did not help with that. His lectures did not match his tests at all. Hated the Reef clicker questions, and his lectures. He is not approachable and does not help anyone who is struggling. You either float at the top or sink to the very bottom. No curves, no mercy.
Dr. Frazer is one of the best professors I have had at UCF. In his course, you get out what you put in. He tells you exactly what is going to be on the exams, there are no curve balls. His lectures are very entertaining, and he is easily approachable for questions outside of class.
Gives you plenty of points to help boost your grade. Make sure to read the textbook and watch all of his videos as his actual in person lecture is close to useless. Not a very kind professor but as a person he is hilarious. As a teacher, he is not very good and loves to put in minimal work. Also very critical of students. You must teach yourself.
Not ideal if you are taking heavy courses! Lectures are useless, you will learn more from his TA's during office hours than from him. Homework wont prepare you for his exams.Use his FRQ's and his previous exam for guidance! Office hours, reading&teaching yourself is the only way you will pass this course. Condescending and not helpful, good luck!
Dr. Frazer is a good professor but he will not baby the class. You have to put A LOT of work in if you want an A. I don't recommend taking it in the summer but if it's your only choice, do it. GO TO OFFICE HOURS and SI, prioritize practice problems and don't read the textbook in detail. He has HW and quizzes to buff your grade. Exams are fair.
Dr. Frazer is probably the best professor at UCF. He really cares about his students and how they perform. He not only cares about his student's orgo success, but also their future career plans and life goals. His exams are very similar to his past exam practice worksheets, so know those well.
I have taken several classes with him, including inorganic chemistry undergraduate lab. He teaches organic chemistry 2, the doctor killer class. He is notorious for making a hard class harder in order to get more approval for his sexual advances toward the students. He got fired by the Federal Department of Education for this reason.
