Funny; knows his stuff. Is a practicing lawyer who demands alot but you will learn alot. Makes class interesting and it moves fast. Participate. Damn good class.
What a ride this was. Interesting guy and class. Weaves it together with politics and everyday examples. Wants you to learn and "get it". Actually told about the real-world effects of his class. The book was no good but wasn't his choice. A film; guest speaker. A lot of writing - but a fair grader. Never bored. Hang on!
basic crim law class for non lawyers. we went to a city hall trial, saw a crim law vid, and had a gst.speaker. mixes it up so it's interesting. prof's well connected- knows stuff cold. great stories of the legal life. asks a lot of clssrm questions and alot of writing but no final or midterm!! would take him again.
Smart and tough. Puts it together so you know the subject. One of my better Drex profs -Recommend him.
Will take him again. Makes it worthwhile and interesting.
Crim Law. Better textbook now. Take this guy.
This is a smart, entertaining teacher. One of my best classes and profs at Drexel. Practices law full time which is what makes him a great teacher. Class is always interesting and moves fast.
White Collar CRime with Genetta was great. Unusual teaching style through Q and A so you have to reason answers through. Variety of media to teach - film; court; demonstrations. First rate mind and very funny.
Great class. Great and smart teacher who cares about keeping his topics current. Always trying something new to shake it up
Why can't more classes be taught by this teacher? Knew white collar crime well and was very enthusiastic too. Materials are up to date and the class moves fast.
One of the best professors Drexel has to offer
Really great guy funny and keeps things interesting. Doesn't waste your time. Easy Grader
Just took Criminal Law with him and liked it a lot. Very interesting teaching style.
Controls the class by being relaxed which doesnâ??t sound like it makes sense but it worked. To me, he mocks and seduces the class at the same time in a good way and I didnâ??t know if I was coming or going sometimes. Hard not to pay attention. Thisheld my attention and made me really laugh so I learned the material. Liked him alot.
He's the best at LeBow. A bit nutty? No - crazy like a fox. Smart and funny and stories only to relate to material to keep it fast and interesting. Why aren't there more LeBow law courses?
Crim Law Good teacher compared to the rest at Drexel. An interesting man and a damn good teacher. Will help you do well if you apply yourself.
Just as good as they come. Liked going to his class. Energetic, fast moving.
Genetta is a very good Prof. he keeps the whole class engaged for 2 hours and definitely expects participation from everyone. If you dont participate on your own he will call you out occasionally to get your opinion of whatever topic we are discussing that day. There are no grades expect participation/attendance, the midterm& final.
Easily my favorite professor here at Drexel. I took his BLaw 201 class which was contracts and I enjoyed his teaching style so much I took his White Collar Crime class. Great Professor.
Andrew Genetta is a really good professor. He really wants you to take something out of the class. His whole class is participation based, so get ready to discuss and be vocal about the topic at hand. Only problem is the final is 50% of your grade, and the final is kinda tricky.
Very quick on his feet and always involves everyone with questions. Questions. Questions. Teaches like it matters.
Funny dude, wicked smart. The only prof I could stand to have for 3 hours
Awesome and totally engaging. By far one of my favorite classes of all time.
I've taken all of the classes he offers at Drexel, and I am disappointed he does not offer more.
Where to begin - This prof is as just as good as it gets. Fully prepared, whipsmart, wastes no time, funny, pleasant, knows the subject well. Makes it interesting and I hated to miss the class. How often can you say that? Made me want to go to law school. Genetta is front and center each class, almost as if it was a performance, and it is!
The Professor is AWSOME!!!!!! I took her class and now Im taking her class again! Definitely recommend it! Make sure you attend class because if not you will fail. Pay a lot of attention in class and you'll do great though!
Changed the way I looked at life, and my life. Can't say that too often. It was the best education experience I've had.
He uses a socratic method so everyone participates a lot. He's funny, interesting, down to earth, and understands he's not the only class his students are taking. Attendance is important. Only 2 tests & 1 paper, but they're easy if you pay attention. Assigns students for one-on-one tutoring after the midterm to prep for the final. Amazing class.
One of the hardest classes I've ever taken, but one of the best professors I've ever had. Genetta is very aware of his field and how to convey the information and material to students. He made the two hours fly by, and all of the examples were relevant to students. The material is tricky, but he explains it great. Great guy, 10/10 recommend.
Genetta is a real hot shot professor at Drexel and truly knows his field of law as a practicing lawyer. Has been by far the most engaging and good prof I've had in 5 years here. Smart, funny, kind, very fast classes. Only Q & A format with no powerpoint/phoning it in and he makes it almost into a game. Never fails to amaze me.
Genetta is the BEST professor I have ever had in my college career so far. Genetta makes our 4 hour night class so much fun, challenging, and allows us to actually learn instead of just memorizing for an exam. Class is broken down as ethics paper (10%), midterm (35%), final (55%). You can drop midterm if you don't like grade but final is 90%.
- Socratic Method: read before classes as he expects students to have basic knowledge from the descriptions and examples in the textbook. He calls on students randomly --> no sense contributing via the traditional hand raise - Life examples: he mentions his practice as a civil trial attorney. One example drew upon representing a meat manufacturer
The greatest undergraduate law professor! - Divides class material into corporate, political, and occupational - Within each subject, utilizes documentaries and class participation - Allows students to void quiz grade if below an 80 - Assigns characters from Watergate to explain political WCC - Open-note and open class workbook final
Great law professor who brings the materials all together from his actual law practice. Reflective, logical, approachable, and principled, I'd take him again and again.
- Highlight of the term is trip to Court of Appeals murder trial - Void midterm quiz under 80 - Matches tutor and tutee based on grade difference (this term everyone matched) - Completes syllabus regardless of number of missed classes - One documentary on plea bargain - Expects students to read assigned chapter BEFORE class
Professor Genetta is the best professor I have had at Drexel to date! He is hilarious and his lectures are extremely interesting and engaging. His grading system is a bit unclear but if you ask he'll explain. If you participate in class and understand the material you will do well. He made me decide that I wanted to go to law school! A real gem!
Best class I have taken at Drexel so far. He teaches using the Socratic method which isn't for everyone but I recommend giving it a chance. His class really makes you learn and engage in the material which makes the exams easier. Attendance is mandatory but his classes are so fun that you won't want to skip. Everyone should take a class with him!!
Andrew Genetta is respected by all of his students. He belives that class should be in the classroom and not out - so no HW. His lectures are super fascinating and he teaches socratically and thus students learn how to think about LAW rather than just being able to regurgitate a buncha nonsense. Im a psych major and found it amazing!
I was always so excited to go to class because his lectures are great! They are engaging and entertaining. He will have you laughing. Definitely one of my favorite classes and professors. The work load was tolerable, and he offers extra credit. Looking forward to taking another one of his classes!
My favorite professor I've ever had. Make sure you have a sense of humor. I took Contracts because it was required for my degree, but I'm now in Criminal Law and will be taking whatever other classes they offer. Considering law minor. Tests are not at all difficult, and lectures are easy to follow. Can't recommend enough.
Genetta is the man. He gives great lectures and teaches law in a much mor practical way that is useful for any career.
Best Professor Ever. Periodt.
Best BLAW professor, hands down. Very intriguing lectures, though he does teach Socratically, he executes that teaching method extremely well. Took us to see a criminal trial, two major exams, open notes final, small extra credit towards the final. Guaranteed that you will learn a lot from Genetta!
Professor Genetta is one of the best professors I've had. He keeps the class engaged. He calls on people randomly, but if you don't answer correctly or if you say that you don't know the answer, he will not hold that against you. His Socratic seminars teach you everything you need to know. After his class I considered minoring in Legal Studies.
Genetta can teach law backward and forward. His classes are intense, interesting, quick, and informative. Practices law so he knows it. I wanted to go to each class and he made me want to think about going to law school to be a lawyer and I'm studying to be an engineer. Not an easy class but well worth my time. He's a memorable teacher and person.
Best professor I have had at Drexel. Makes the material interesting for ALL of his classes and is hilarious. Class notes are emphasized, if you want to do well on his exams (which are usually the only grades he gives) take copious notes.
Genetta made me actually interested in law. He teaches the class socratically and makes you participate, but trust me, this way actually helps you learn and apply the material to your life. I can't recommend him enough. He teaches so well, is very knowledgable and accessible with help, and honestly just wants to make sure you learn something. 11/10
Genetta's lectures are clear and concise, and he is hilarious to boot. His exams are based off of the lectures so if you pay attention and take decent notes, youll pass with flying colors. if I were to take all the engineering professors I had the same term, stack them up and compare the two, Genetta would come out on top, he's that fantastic.
The only things you are graded on in this class are the midterm and final exams. The wording of the questions does not reflect his teaching style or the way that he guides class discussion, which makes exams extremely difficult. And he doesn't let you access your exam after you turn it in so you can't review it or study from it.
Took Criminal Law BLAW 342 Summer 21. First rate course & professor. Organized, smart, clear, engaging, and fast moving. He assures fair grading by giving out sample questions from earlier tests; using fact patterns/examples directly from class/book on tests; voiding your lowest test score; using Study Groups; etc. Stand out Prof - big time!
Took BLAW 348 White Collar Crime online cuz Covid. Could this man teach! Very interesting, caring, factual, funny, and methodical. Very well read and opened my eyes. He says an effective class should entertain as well as inform and that's his magic. Genetta's classes have long waiting lists and there's a reason why. BEST Drexel law prof !!! 10/10
Mr. G is a well read, articulate prof who takes no sides in class left or right and sets out the facts and patterns for you to comprehend yourself. I have a very solid understanding of how these crimes work now and the wide extent of this criminality in the US. Really good class, ALWAYS interesting. He's super prepared and it shows.
Business Law is Contracts and was this a fast and interesting class! It was a required course for me but now I plan to take more law in college and certainly with this prof. Treats students as his equals, is always fair, very clear, and it was worth my time and study.
One of the best classes I have taken at Drexel. Genetta keeps class very interesting with fun examples of real contract law cases that are not run of the mill. Honestly, the fastest 2 hour classes of my life, because I was so interested. Only graded on two exams, and a paper. 10/10 one of the best professors at Drexel, def rec
Had Genetta for BLAW 201 and he's the best professor that I've had. His lectures are amazing and super engaging, my class was a 6pm - 10pm and it honestly wasn't even bad. Your entire grade is a mid-term, final, and 1 paper. The exams are multiple choice and pretty clear, so if you go to class and study at least a little you should pass easily.
I had Genetta for BLAW 201 from 6-10 pm. I thought this would be a drag as night classes typically are but it turned out to be one of my favorite classes I've taken. The classes are Socratic discussion style to mimic how law school is and this format really helped in learning and made the time fly by.
His Socratic style is very efficient and engaging. You only have 2 exams and a paper (A+ as long as you turn it in), but the exams, the second one will be harder than the first one, just make sure you study and don't panic because he literally gives you all the answers during lectures. 100% recommend.
I had Professor Genetta for BLAW 201. I was really excited for this class because I want to be a lawyer, but he's made me reconsider. His behavior in class ping-pongs back and forth between child-like and annoyed. Having 2 exams be worth 90% of your grade should be against the rules. His lectures were also boring, and the paper was a chore at best.
Best lecturer at Drexel with such interesting and important information to pass on. Take his class if you can! And make sure to take notes in class, as the exams are very class-example heavy. Very fair tests.
Best prof I had in Drexel by far. His lectures are amazing and he is a funny guy.
I gave Genetta 5 stars when I took his BLAW201 class. And let me just say this, just because you liked him in BLAW201 doesn't mean you should take his other classes. His lectures for WCC is extremely boring and I don't like how he gives us extra assignments not listed as part of our grade on the syllabus and expects us to do them to not lose points
A remarkable class with films, a demonstration, & group presentations. Surveys US white collar crime in an engaging, quick and insightful way. Smart, quick on his feet and cares for his students. Uses weekly study groups for peer learning and networking. Would take him for ANY class he taught and everyone I know says the same.
This was one of the most fun and engaging classes I have taken at Drexel. Prof. Genetta made the class interactive and enjoyable at the same time. The way the law is taught in this class, you will walk away with a really good understanding of American Law (Contract Law, specifically). The workload is non-existent if you take good notes in class.
Well-read scholar-lawyer with a wealth of interesting info, and made it interactive with small trials with evidence that we must apply the law to. Prepared, smart, kind, who cares if we learn. WOULD TAKE ANY COURSE WITH HIM. I know people who had him years ago who still recall him as their favorite college prof hands down in the entire university.
This is the most interactive and fun class I have ever taken. Genetta is a nice guy and gets the class excited to be there. His method of teaching is effective and if you pay attention you will learn a lot.
348 White Collar Crime is full of interesting information across many subjects. Super prepared for class, detailed, cool use of videos, and full of curiosity. He conducts his course like a deep conversation. I have a deeper, more unbiased view of law and crime and the US now. He takes no political positions. Would take any course this guy taught.
Genuinely my favorite professor at Drexel. Everything he taught was extremely clear, and I was never confused on where I stood in the class as he was very straight forward with his grading. Absolutely amazing class as well.
Professor Genetta is the best professor I've ever had at Drexel. I took his 4-hour long evening class but it never felt boring as he uses Socratic method of teaching, which means you have to participate in discussion and he can call out on you anytime. I learned a lot in this class and would definitely take him again.
An amazing professor, his lectures are so involving and interested. Take good notes or you'll be screwed. His midterm is closed note/book but his final is open note/closed book, and he will drop your midterm if you do better on your final. So caring and helpful as well.
He's an experienced litigator who knows the courtroom and took us to watch a murder trial. He teaches as if he expects everyone no matter their major will want to become a lawyer. When he's done the course a good amount of us decide he's right and change majors or minors to legal studies. Gifted story teller with a point. Should run the college.
Best professor I have taken. If you take notes and speak up in class there is no way not to get an A.
My favorite professor I have ever taken. Uses Socratic method to teach so class is never boring and he is so funny. If you go to class and take really good notes, you will do well. Pay attention to the fact patterns he gives in class, because if you understand those, you will ace the exams. 1 Paper assigned but its Pass/Fail. TAKE HIM!!!!
BEST CLASS EVER! You would think that a law class would be boring. He will make the content memorable. Only 3 grades: midterm, final, and ethics paper. Read the textbook before class and take notes. He will call on you at random but doesn't make you feel like you are in the wrong.
Very few grades in this class so make sure to keep up with the reading and ATTEND CLASS!!! Uses Socratic method of teaching and honestly, it was really helpful with understanding the different topics. Not a super hard class and hes super charismatic.
This is the 3rd class Ive taken with Genetta. His classes are almost impossible not to get an A in if you take notes during class and on the assigned readings. The final is open notes, and it voids your midterm if you do better. He is hilarious and makes learning the material fun and interesting
Genetta is one of the few professors that genuinely cares about the students. He makes class very enjoyable with his witty humor and teaching style. Exams are hugely based on his lecturing so take good notes. Out of the engineering professors I had the same term, Genetta was easily the best of them all. Take this man, you won't regret it.
What a class White Collar Crime was this term! A guided tour of the crook universe with a lawyer who can teach as easy as he breathes. Genetta's class is fast paced, real interesting, and covers a lot of ground. Hard not to be entertained and learn too. Take this prof you won't forget it.
Great professor with a good sense of humor. Classes are taught with the Socratic Method, so participation is encouraged and people get to know each other. As a lawyer, he's pretty knowledgeable in law as a whole and answers all questions to the best of his ability, but is also very honest about not knowing everything. Best class I've taken so far.
Knows how to teach well and keeps it interesting to learn to think like a lawyer. Class went to a felony trial. One of the best profs I've ever had.
Amazing class and professor! Very easy to understand and always tried to keep things fun and light hearted on the harder concepts. Socratic style class which can be intimidating but he does a good job of making everyone feel heard.
Only have two grades; a midterm and a final. If you don't do well on the midterm but do good on the final, he will take off the midterm grade, but if you do well on the midterm and bad on the final, both are kept. He would call on people in class for discussions; goes by a Socratic method. I learned a lot in his class; very knowledgeable prof.
Took us to a felony trial in the courthouse. Smart, interesting prof who knows his way around a classroom and a courtroom. One of Drexel's stand outs.
This was the first run of Torts. I'm not a law student but this was super fun, no homework just readings, if you pass the final you pass the class (it's the only grade aside from the midterm; which is waived if you score better on the final). Attendance is mandatory. "The bear is judgement-proof" - Genetta 2024.
Torts is a new Business Law Dept offering and well worth taking. The prof is very clear and uses great examples and is really fascinating to learn with. A litigation lawyer in real life. We went to several live Philly arbitrations in court. If Genetta just read from the Yellow Pages, I'd take the class. Hella great teacher!
Genetta's teaching style is incredibly engaging and fosters a great learning environment. He uses the socratic method, so participation is mandatory, but he makes a very safe space for students to contribute. Genetta is my favorite professor I've had at Drexel. For once I genuinely looked forward to going to his class and learning about contracts
Genetta is the best prof I've ever had. He truly cares about students remembering lessons long-term. He is hilarious but will challenge you to be engaged and participate. As a student you should be challenging yourself, this class in an opportunity to do so. I was always excited for class. PS... found a PDF of the textbook online without paying.
