If you hate professors that only grade you on tests, don't take him!!!

Very cool guy, not too difficult. Read the book.
great teacher, will help after class, easy to understand. If you can not get an A in his class quit school and apply at McDonalds.
Go to every class and you will get at least a B on this class.
cool teacher. easy class. never read the book and got an A. Just pay attention to lecture and take good notes.
I hated his class. Half the class failed.I do not recommend him. His tests were extremely difficult too.
very outgoing..easy...interesting..fun..teacher. i learned a whole lot in his class. easy A but u must at least make a little effort to try
very knowledgeable and committed to making sure we understand the material, organized lectures, overall a solid prof
He's very helpful when you ask. Never turned me away when I had a question. Sadly, I never went to class, and that hurt me since his lectures are helpful and informative. Advice: Go to class, take good notes, ask questions,he won't belittle you.I didn't pass but that was my own fault...=(
love this teacher!
Only need the study guide and notes, no book! All tests are directly from the lectures and study guide, go to class and take notes, very easy to pass. Seems more like a high school class than a college level class.
Best teacher at fullerton hands down... recommended to everyone.
Compared to many professors, he acts like and treats the students like a real human being. All around a good guy. One of those professors that in many ways treats you like a friend and is ultimately concerned about you. I just graduated from CSUF, and I rarely experienced this in my four years.
Go to class! You rarely need to even look at your book, but need to have the study guid in it for class. Tests are easy if you understand what he's talking about in class, and if you don't then just ask him to explain what you don't understand.
hands down one of the best prof at csuf.. very clear in his lectures and if not has no problem discussing until you understand.. nice and respectful to everyone (even the annoying people in class)... just all around awesome guy.. don't need the book just go to class and do prac tests and study guide
he's really nice and really HYPER! he talks a lot.. his test is kinda hard but if u do the study guide.. it sorta helps.. dun buy the book cuz i bought it n i didnt even open it
he is a great teacher. i learned a lot from him. he makes the class fun. his test were easy.
Amazing guy. So laid back. Approachable. Understanding. Take him. Favorite teacher.
This guy is awesome! Gives you practice exams to take home and do, and goes over them in class. Seriously, if you can't get at LEAST a B in his class, go work at McDonald's!
They said it was easy but its not. I attended every class did all assignments but he failed me. He is a cool guy but overated.
They say he is easy but grades so hard! Avoid if possible
Gill is pretty chill. If you don't like econ, you will probably have a hard time in this class. his tests aren't that bad, buit make sure you study for them and buy the study guide. has previous tests on his website so you can look at what he might ask.
He gives you practice exams, but they are not relevant to the real exams. He grades very hard and does not give much partial credit. He is the only econ 201 teacher I've heard of that does not give a multiple choice exams.
He Grades so hard and will fail you even if you attend all of his classes. He looks like the talk show host "Maury". If you watch that show that is what he looks like. Just letting you know.
Dr. Gill is a great professor! Economics is not an easy subject but he makes it learnable. Very approachable. YOU MUST STUDY FOR THE TESTS! This class is not one you can just skate by on. Afterward, though, you will be fully prepared for Econ 315. CSUF needs more instructors like him, one who give a damn about teaching the students.
Took him in 97' and can tell you Gill is what you need if you will ever crunch econ numbers in the real world. The guy lives this stuff and can and will help you get good at econ analysis if you want to. Has a positive disposition and shows enthusiasm.
Everyone say this and that, that this guy is the best of the business. But he will never help you on a personal level. He teaches like a robot that will not stop if the class is not up to par with his pace. If you don't get it, thats pretty much it for you. This guy will make you think your doing well in his class and then fail you at the end of
If you hate class that based only on tests, than don't take this class. I regret on taking him because he is the vice chair of the Econ Dept. which is why he grades hard on all assignments. Take someone else that grades easier and gives a multiple choice test and other assignments to help your grade.
He is an oustanding professor. Makes the subject easy to understand. His lectures are easy to understand. He likes to use real life examples and taking his notes during class helps a lot for the test. Very important is NOT to miss his class, Take notes, do the examples in the book,as well as the practice test. Review the material, study and prepare
His teaching is not clear overall, u take so much notes but in the end u dunt get it. I wish he would explain things more clearer and give out hw or group work to help boost ur grade. He grades so hard on those stupid papers hello its econ not english here. Dont know why ppl like him and brag about he's so great and all. good luck

Professor Gill is great! He is super clear in the way he teaches! is super passionate about the subject and grades pretty easy! he loves visitors in his office :)
GREAT TEACHER, BUT YOU HAVE TO STUDY. IF YOU PUT IN THE WORK, YOU WILL GET THE GRADE
HE'S OK, TAKE SULA, HE'S MUCH BETTER THAN HIM.
he is one of the best teachers i have ever taken at csuf. pay attention and u will do fine. i didn't read anything in the book, his notes are what is key. so take good ones. i got a b with minimal effort, but did all the assignments. test not to hard, he tells u exactley what he is looking for. work with him and he will work with u.
This guy is a great teacher that sincerely cares about not only the subject matter but also the students. He speaks cleary and gets the material across effectively. Corny jokes but hey, hes a nice guy and at least he tries. I thoroughly enjoyed the class and I got an A. Oh yeah and he looks like Ernest from Earnest Goes to Camp, i think anyway.
Very helpful and follows a teaching technique prone to learning and experience.Encourages his students to do well.
He's a really good teacher. I understood everything he taught. He gives good examples to help you understand. You don't even need to read the textbook. Attendance is mandatory cuz everything he lectures on in class is on the test. Just thoroughly study your notes you'll get a good grade. Your grade is only based on 3 tests and 2 papers though.
One of the best teachers I've had at Fullerton. Making me want to become an econ major.
he is cute in a sweet nerdy way. he is clear- take good notes. dont buy the book but the study guide that comes w/ the book is very helpful!!!i love you
an ok professor
Take him! Never a dull day in class. He makes lectures interesting and manageable. His grading is fair, and his tests come straight from his notes. He never throws any curve balls so you always know what to expect. Learned a lot, studied a little...He's that good.
This guy is awesome!! His lectures are so clear that all you have to do is copy exactly what he writes on the board and buy the study guide... makes economics interesting. I'd take him again in a second.
What everyone says about him is true.. TAKE HIM!! He's is kinda cute too when he gets all excited over his lectures.
Read the book, do all of the study guide questions for the chapters besides the ones assigned, attend class, and ask questions. Sounds hard, but easy to do with a professor like Gill. Even if you have had trouble with math concepts and have had no strong mathematics classes prior, his style of teaching makes learning very easy and painless.
He Rocks!
wow this class is easy! no need for the text book u just need to buy the study guide book. his test is base on his notes and the study guide book. very easy class! take him!
This guys is awesome! Great teacher; enthusiastic about a BORING subject. Easier than most of my GE classes. Go to class and you wont even need to open the book.
Dr. Gill is very helpful and enthusiastic about Econ. Tests are challenging but he is a fair grader and the class is passable. He loves to talk about himself so be prepared.
Gill is quite honestly one of the best, most helpful and most interesting professors in the dept. Assigned 2 papers, both with outlines and specifics on what he was looking for, 4 homework assignments that required some critical thinking and a trip to his office, and a very thorough midterm and non-cumulative final. Highly recommended professor.
He's honestly one of the best professors at CSUF! He teaches and explains so clearly, if not too clearly. You'll see what I mean if you take the class. He is a great teacher and funny too!
Dr. Gill is one of the best professors CSF has. His teaching style is amazing, he will always answer your questions, never surprises you on his tests and if you go to class, you'll do well. 100% recommend taking him if you can.
Amazing teacher bends over backwards to make sure you understand. He explains things in many ways and if you still don't understand then ask, he will do his best to help you. Tests are straightforward. This class is pretty easy because of how well he explains things.
What makes him a good professor is that he's a good person. He treats everybody with a great amount of respect, even when they don't understand. One of the most approachable professors I've ever had.
This guy is the best professor in the Economics department at CSUF. He is unable to contain his passion for the material and I must admit his positivity rubbed off on someone as cynical as me. You will love labor economics after taking this class.
He actually teaches- Amazing trait in a professor. Very avialable for questions and provides very good answers. Wish I could have had him for undergrad and other graduate courses. He anchors the graduate economics program at CSUF.
He is an amazing teacher and person. He's really funny and would bring us girl scout cookies on the day of the exam. Don't buy the text book. Attend every class and take good notes! I looked forward to this class everyday. Keeps the class very interesting and gives great examples. TAKE HIM!
Great Class. Easy A. Dont buy the text book just the studyguide. He goes over all concepts in class and repeats and much as needed. Great guy and professor. Wish he taught my upcoming 202 class as well. Take him if at all possible, no accent and complete clarity when teaching. Seriously, take him.
Gill ROCKS...Enough said
The BEST teacher I have ever had in my entire academic career. Gill is such a dedicated teacher who truly admires his profession. He always made himself available to students and truly cared about each student's performance in the course. He created helpful study guides for each test & always stopped to ask students if they have Q's in lectures.
Won teacher of the year award, spring 2012. Simply said, the best in the department. Always helpful, always goes the extra mile for students. Has a passion for teaching. Econ may be hard subject for some, but Gill is willing to help you through it. For now, only teaches econ 201 in spring. Worth waiting to get in his class if possible.
Super helpful! Always willing to help. You don't need to buy the textbook, but you will need the study guide for in-class work, and take good notes! Other than that, he is always willing to answer questions and spend time so that every student understands every concept.
Great pprofessor! Writes everything on the board and explains everything clearly. He gives a study guide for all test (2 midterms and a final). Don't really need the book except for maybe looking up a few words before the test. Answers questions well and asks if he was clear. no quizes and two easy writing assignments.
Horrible Professor. Your entire grade is made up of 3 exams. Econ is a subject that requires practice but he doesn't offer any homework or practice. His exam point structure is unfair. Take a different professor if you can. Mess up on 1 exam, you are toast.
This was a hard class but very worthwhile and interesting. Gill's lectures are interesting, well thought out. He knows his stuff and he is willing to help any student that asks.
Dr. Gill is the BEST!!!! For lower level and graduate level courses. By far, one of the most clear, helpful, amazing instructors ever! I STILL pull out his notes when I need help with my work!! haha he's the best. You won't regret taking him!
He really wants you to learn the material but the exams are too difficult.
Straight A student here. He gave me my first C. His exams are tough and require alot of time/effort. Not my first choice of Econ professors but he fit in with my work schedule. He is a nice guy but his exams are tough especially since there are no homework assignments to practice.
Very nice, understandable, and doable! His tests are a little tough, but thats because they are not multiple choice. You need to explain ALL your answers. Lectures are very helpful and you do need the study guide, but not really the actual text book. He posts NOTHING online so you either go to class or miss the whole lecture. He wants you to pass!
Perhaps the best professor I had at CSUF. He has a genuine passion for the subject and labor is his wheelhouse. Excellent lecturer with great knowledge of the subject. If you want to have an expert and learn in depth about labor take Gill. He wrote my LOR's for law school and they were superb. Cares about students and about the dept.
Professor Gill is an amazing professor probably the best at CSUF, he's like a really cool grandfather I'd never had, he's stories are really interesting and it really connects to Econ. His respects his students a lot and is always there to help. His quizzes are multiple choices which I thought was easy but the exams need to be detailed.
Good professor, didnt do well the first time and took him again for the same class, that should say alot. 3 tests free response, can be tedious but just make sure you know his study guide. Hes always in his office and is very helpful. 2 papers and 5 quizzes, no homework, dont need the book unless you want more clarity, Hes funny and a good teacher.
Who gives blue book exams with so much detail needed for a intro class. Take him if this is your major. I would not recommend him if you are just taking this class because its required.
The class consists of 2 midterms, a final, 2 writing assignments, and quizzes. The quizzes are EASY.. He gives study guides for the exams. His lectures are very clear and interesting. Nicest professor I've had.
Absolutely the best professor. Took his Econ504 and 595. Super patient, kind-hearted, understanding, responsible, chill, treats EVERY student very nice. He always concerns about if you guys are learning and what he can do to improve/help. Make sure you know everything on the study guide, and the lab, then you are good. Andrew GillAngel Gill :D
My top favorite professor hands down. He made economics easy for me. I love the way he lectures. It makes it so easy for me to understand. Thank you professor Gill.
Professor Gil was a great professor. His style of teaching is very different from other professors. His lectures are pretty dry and sometimes his handwriting isn't legible which makes it harder to take notes in. His exams are all in blue books and makes it hard to get an A. He has many quizzes that are also not the same content that he teaches.
An absolutely amazing professor, one of the best I've ever had. His love and interest in the subject makes his lectures great to listen to, and he really helps you understand the underlying concepts and wants to make sure you really learn from his class. It isn't easy, but well worth the trouble in my opinion.
Dr. Gill is an amazing professor. One of the best I've come across at CSUF. He is very knowledgeable on the lessons he teaches and provides relatable examples, which makes the lessons interesting and easy to understand. The only down side is he's not really clear on how he grades papers so be careful with your word choices. I would take him again.
PROFESSOR GILL IS THE BEST! I really enjoyed his class. Every time he lectured I felt like I was being told a story. He ties in real life experiences to help you understand the material. He's also super funny. I didn't do as well as I'd like to on my first midterm, but I went to his office hours and he was really helpful. Ended up with an A-.
I'm a humanities major, so I expected this class to really suck. However, Professor Gill makes the subject super interesting and easy to understand. He mostly lectures, but he gives plenty of examples to help students understand the material. He's also super hilarious. I would definitely recommend taking his class!
Amazing professor. By far probably the best I have had in my years going here. I truly recommend taking his class! Really have to study the notes every day or before the next lecture. It's not too hard and the tests are easy as long as you do this study method. I did not use the study guide but he did use it in class every once in a while. No book
Professor Gill is honestly one of the best professors Ive ever had. Dont get me wrong this class isnt easy however professor Gill does a great job of teaching a difficult and somewhat dry topic for some. His lectures are always clear and easy to understand. No attendance however his lectures are all done on the whiteboard. Dont buy the book!
Gill is an AMAZING Econ teacher. He is so passionate and really knows his stuff. He is so friendly and wants students to succeed. He is easy to reach out to and is always willing to help. He makes Econ interesting!
Not really what I expected. As much as a caring and kind professor he seems to be, I really REALLY hope that he decides to finally curve the grades and drops the lowest quiz score because even trying my best to prepare for the quizzes are difficult enough already to bring down my grade. And I am super SUPER worried to find out my grade. Thank you!!
Very friendly professor and always excited to teach. Show up to class and take notes and you will defiently be fine. His quizzes and test are base on the notes. Writing papers are a challenge but tutoring center helped a lot.
2 easy 1 page essays. he thoroughly explains all his lectures/graphs so don't miss class or you'll be confused. quizzes are annoying but help prepare for exams. multiple choice questions are easy, beware of short response questions (worth 1/4 of exam grade). used study guide a few times in class, but don't buy it use online version instead.
Dr. Gill was my favorite professor. He's an old man with a young boys heart. His passion for economics is contagious. There are 2 midterms, 2 essays, 5 quizzes, and one final exam. It may sound like a lot but the quizzes kept the material fresh for the midterms and the essays were genuinely interesting to write. I highly recommend Dr. Gill!
By far the best professor I've had so far. His tests are based on his lectures so show up to class. He makes the material easy to understand with clear examples and tries to relate it to what is going on right now.
I love professor Gill! He is so funny and cares about his students. He is always willing to help his students in his office hours. His way of teaching is so easy to understand economics. I definitely recommend his class!
Honestly one of the best professors I've had. SO nice and adorable. 3 exams, 5 quizzes, and 2 essays. Some of the material is hard to understand, but he is very approachable and welcomes questions. Gives 10% of homework points as extra credit at the end of the semester. Not an easy A, but go to class and take notes!
Best teacher I have had at CSUF. If youre a finance major he will inspire you to learn more about the field
Hands down my favorite professor so far. Wish all professors were as enthusiastic as he was and he really cares for his students. His lectures reflect the exams well and he is extremely helpful in office hours. I highly recommend him for Econ201!!
Attendance isnt mandatory but if you want to pass you HAVE to go to class. His lectures are amazing so class goes by really fast! To understand the material better, study notes after class and if youre still having a hard time, read the textbook or go to office hours. DO THE STUDY GUIDES BEFORE EXAMS!! Also, do the extra credit.
Graded by two exams, one final, two papers, and five quizzes. Professor knows a lot about economics and is quick to answer emails. Homework is extra credit and really boosts your grade at the end. Study guides provided for exams. He updates grades weekly after quizzes and exams. Totally recommend him!
He is hands down the best professor I've come across in my two+ years here at CSUF. Super caring and extremely helpful. I loved going to class because he had amazing lectures and was very kind. Always available for office hours and homework was extra credit! I thought the class itself was easy as long as you showed up and took notes.
Prof Gill is by far my favorite and the best Econ Prof I've ever taken. He is extremely passionate about economics and he makes sure all of his students understand the material. Don't be afraid to ask questions, he is more than happy to help. If I could take all of my econ courses with Gill, I would. Quizzes are weekly and reflect his notes. Study.
Prof. Gill is the fairest and most caring professor I've had. Even with decades of teaching and expertise, he was willing to learn and adjust to our class--even admitting one of the tests was too hard and gave us another chance. He respects students which is why he's so respected and loved in return. Go to class! Lectures/notes are key to success.
Wish he taught all my econ courses. The transition to online was tough on many classes, but this class felt as if it was in person. He writes the notes down as he goes rather than using power point. Weekly quizzes can be a bit tough, but if you review notes for the week it's an easy A. Very understanding with deadlines and extensions.
Great professor. Passionate about what he teaches and course isnt that difficult if you actually study. He gives good life lessons as well and really caring about the students and their grades.
