He's prob the best teacher I have ever had in math!
A more favored teacher, and someone that I would continue to recommend. He makes time for his students, and is always willing to help. Tends to be a little bit nervous during class but he still manages to teach the material well. Overall, he is great!
I hated math, always doing the bare minumum, but Andrew really turned me around. He was so helpful during office hours, staying longer than he had to just to make sure everyone understood as best they could. Also, if he makes a mistake and you point it out to him, he will correct it immeadiatly without getting defensive. Just a great teacher/guy.
He is one of the best Math teachers at western in my opinion, and he is still a grad student as far as I know. He is very clear with his explanations, and tests arent that bad. He is a very nice guy as well.
Absolutely loved Andrew. He is a great prof. He is extremely helpful and a friendly person. He explains material clearly; if not, he stops himself before even you can and he rephrases himself. He does a great job of remembering his students. Answers any questions. All around one of the best profs I have had!
Homework every day. Sometimes VERY unclear on subjects. Didn't pass skills test.
Andy is very helpful and approachable. Going to class isn't mandatory but it definetly helps. His quizzes can be hard but if you do your homework then you usually know what's going on. Plus he's a cutey.
Andrew is a great professor. He knows what he's talking about, is always there for help outside of class, and he makes things easy to understand. The tests and quizzes can be a bit challenging but you can drop your lowest quiz score which helps. Doing all the homework and passing the skills test are extremely important to do well.
Andrew is a great teacher. King of awkward at times but funny. If you need help I would suggest to go to his office. Attendence is mandatory, writing notes is helpful especially for quizzes and exams. I recommend doing the homework and understanding them, similar to the exam questions!
Andrew is a great professor. I have always hated math and done quite poorly in it, but he definitely makes everything easier to understand.
Great math teacher. Makes everything really easy to understand, uses great examples and always willing to explain things further if needed. Office hours sucked (9am) but I never felt the need to go because he taught the class so well to begin with. Def go to class, take notes, and pay attention and you will do fine. Only wish he was teaching 157!
Young guy, really nice. He works with the class and their understanding. I liked him a lot. Tests were average. Come to class to gain concepts. Use the tutorial center solutions book to get better explanations of particular concepts.
He is arrogant. He hates to admit when he is wrong. His tests are average, but don't expect any partial credit. If you go to office hours, he is pretty helpful, as long as you can stand arrogance. You can tell that he is a new teacher..
The guy cracked me up. I hate math, and still do but he was quirky enough to make coming to class not so bad.
The best math teacher I have ever had and my favorite teacher so far at Western. The material is challenging, but he does a very good job at explaining the concepts. I wish I could take every math class with him.
He's a nice young lad. His lectures are easy to follow and his homework isn't too hard - but his quizzes and exams are another story. He LOVES definitions and tests on them. His tests can be a lot trickier than quizzes and HW are. And he's quite picky with the grading and not very lenient with partial credit. But 112 is one of the hardest math
Andrew is a good teacher and will explain things are enough that most homework will be easy to do. His tests are way to difficult in comparision to the material he reviews in detail. I am now in 157 and i am having a VERY easy time in compasision to andrew's frusterating testing style.
What a joke of a "teacher". I studied CONSTANTLY for this class, always did the homework (and got A's on it) but then I got D's or FAILED EVERY TEST. that makes no sense! I hated every second of his class and now I have to retake it, but definitely not from him. My bf has taken past math242 and is a genius and he couldnt understand this guy.
he was a blast, i thought he was very fair in homwork as if you go to the mathcenter you can get help on anyhting. his test were brutal but if you did well on quizzes and homwork youd do fine i got b and it was the first time i had ever took calc in my life so i thoguht he did a great job
Amazing. Being at class helps the most. If you can understand the book, that's fine. But all his test go by his examples that he gives in class, and the examples are great and very clear. He does everything he can to help you. He wants you to ask questions. Tests are short, and reasonable. Not too hard, but not easy. Should have got a B-.
The best math teacher I've ever had---I seriously despised math before this class. He made math fun, and tests short. I would take a class from him again, he helped a sista out.
Good was such a cute teacher! He would get so excited whenever we showed interest in the class or asked questions. He is really good about helping after class. But beware of the tests - they are difficult and you should studdyyyy! And make sure you do all the hw cuz it will help with the test. But overall he's a really nice teacher!
Good is amazing. He is so passionate about his subject. He loves math and it is so obvious when he teaches. He is really helpful and I learned from him really easily. He is amazing and he makes the class fun.
he is a very good teacher. explains things well. his tests and quizzes almost always have definitions on them
he was the most amazing math teacher ive ever had, i look forward to attending another one of his classes. plus, him being extremely attractive and adorable helped a lot too lol!
Well, he is a very good teacher, very helpful and all, but his take home quizzes are horrible. Definitely work with as many people as you can, or you will have a horrible grade on them. Overall though, he is a great teacher and quite entertaining.
Andrew is one of my favorite teachers at Western. I wish I had taken every math class with him. He's REALLY enthusiastic about calculus and is always willing to help you understand a difficult problem. Be warned, the tests are very difficult and he loves telling dorky math jokes, but you can't help loving. He's too adorible.
Andrew is a good guy, but his tests are tough as a motherfer. He's one of those elaborate from the homework kind of teachers, which sucks when you have 50 minutes to do it. People still do well, but you have to really know your stuff.
Andrew is awesome! His jokes are hilarious and he's got a lot of charm. If you go to class EVERY day and do all the homework, it's hard to do bad in the class. He's always willing to help outside of class and will explain as much as necessary. People complain that the tests are hard, but if you study hard, you're golden. GREAT PROFESSOR!
Andrew is awesome! Like the comments above, he's super funny. He also makes examples that are easy to understand and clear, even stopping to ask if anybody has anyquestions.
Andrew is such a dork, it's wonderful. He often tells awkward random stories for no reason. He is very helpful outside of class. If you go to lectures, not too difficult. He goes over material for quizzes and tests every thursday. Hw due 3ish times a week, not a huge load.
Horrible teacher
doesn't explain material well, just answers questions on previously assigned homework and assigns more
Best math teacher I have ever had! I am not very good at math and I have been doing very well in the class. If you go to class EVERYDAY you will do great! Don't be afraid to ask questions I ask tons of questions and he is very good at answering him. Some of his tests are a little harder than the homework if you take time to study you should be fine
andrew is amazing! before taking this class, i hated math. He made sure to explain everything until it was crystal clear. He made me look forward to waking up at 8am every morning because he somehow made math interesting and he has tons of charm.
Amazing teacher! Before this class I hated math but he made it enjoyable. I never really understood math either but he explained everything so well i actually enjoyed going to math.
One of my favorite teachers at Western! Hate math but really liked this class!! Really helpful, has step by step directions for almost everything and doesn't make you feel dumb for asking questions! Has a lot of random but funny stories! TAKE HIM if you're taking math wish I could have him at every level!!
he's clear in his teaching, and is very available for help. class averages for 2 out of 3 exams were 58 and 61 so his tests are tough beyond belief
Prof. Good explained things very clearly and best of all explained WHY rules worked, rather than simply making us remember rules. He had a very liberal attendance policy and you were able to drop bad quizzes and grades. Highly recommended. I'm pretty bad at math and ended up with an A.
this is the prof to take if you are not strong in math or you've been out of school for a while. he's more than willing to help you immediatly after class. there is no reason to get below a B in his class if you put in the effort.
He seems to know what goes on in his head, but forgets that we are not all as good as he is at math. Creates problems on quizes and tests to "get you thinking" deeper into the problem...I would rather be doing this with homework so I can at least get a good grade and understand the tests...but he does know his stuff and can help you if you ask.
Good knows what he is talking about, and is extremely helpful. His test questions can be challenging but he gives hints on what types of problems will be on the tests. I would take another class with professor Good!
Funny and entertaining. Keeps class interesting. A little hard to follow at times. Class moves very quickly. He is always available to explain things after class however. Not too much homework but quizzes are fairly difficult.
Andrew was the absolute best math teacher I've ever had. He was very thorough and extremely intelligent. He told relevant stories that kept students engaged. Really glad I took his class.
I don't know how else to put this...but Andrew Good made my life this quarter. It's pre-calc, so it's a little challenging. And yes, tests had some tricky components, but he is SUCH A GOOD TEACHERRR! Everyone really should take him. He'll make you laugh the whole class, and is willing to help outside class. I wish I had to take more math.. :)
Best math prof. I've had yet! Andrew Good is AMAZING! Definitely made this quarter a lot more interesting.
Andrew is an excellent professor! You have to put in the work and study for tests and quizzes 'cause some questions can be pretty hard. But do the work and ask for help when you need it, he's always more than willing to help! I would take a math course from him any time.
If you can't pass this class there may be no hope for you because Good is the best there is. Homework was easy and tests were sometimes challenging but never unfair. Everything was explained in detail, maybe a little too much at times but whatever, and he was always equally thorough in answering questions. Definitely the class to take.
best professor at western. I loved him! I dreaded taking 157 for ever and Andrew made it not so bad. Definitely take him!!!
All these comments are spot on. You could NOT ask for a better math teacher! MATH 114 is one of the most challenging courses because it is loaded with material and homework, but Andrew does a great job of explaining everything and answering questions. His tests were perfectly challenging; NEVER unfair! Seriously, if you can't pass his class...
If you took AP calc, do not assume you can just retake Calc 124 with Good and breeze through it. He definitely knows math, but his tests are very convoluted and abstract compared to the homework or anything you learned in high school. He designs his tests to be calculator unfriendly, to the point that they exponentially harder than homework.
Great professor. Would liked to have had assigned homework a bit better assigned. Homework is due 2 days after you've finished a section...often times sections are more than a day, and you never know what is due when. Tests and quizzes are not like homework problems, which makes it harder to study for.
Good was great. Personally I really struggle with math so I did not do so well in the course, but I could not have had a better teacher. He is incredibly sweet, quirky, and extremely helpful at office hours. Study, see a tutor if you start to struggle even a little bit, and take full advantage of office hours.
I was kind of sad I had to drop this class(I SUCK at math!) because Good was a great professor! He was awkwardly funny, enjoyed his subject, and did whatever he could to make sure we understood. He was extremely helpful in office hours, and was overall a very kind and genuine person. If you need to take this class, make sure Good is your prof!
He was extremely cooky but I loved his enthusiasm about the subject. You can definitely tell that he cares about how his students do. BUT his tests were inconsistent with the level of intensity that we had with homework and in class work. They were impossible.
Good is a great math professor. He would always tell the weirdest stories which made everyone laugh and wake up because math is pretty boring. Definitely go to his office hours and study for exams, because I feel like I would have done so much better if I went and got help from him. I loved this professor. He made math bearable! You should take him
Lectures are very clear, you can easily tell he's passionate about math. He will pause a lot and ask for questions, and sometimes get disappointed if nobody asks any. make sure you understand all the concepts well because some of his questions are concept driven and require a good understanding of the material.
One of the HARDEST math professors at Western. His lectures so are so basic compared to what's on his exams. The exams are always complete surprises and the problems are 10x harder than what you do in the homework or lecture. AVOID HIM FOR CALCULUS
He was a wonderful professor. Super funny and nice. Go to as many of his office hours as you can, it helps a ton! also make sure to ask a lot of questions in class. If you do that this class will be fun and relatively easy.
I DESPISE this teacher. If you ask him questions, he rarely gives a useful answer. He has little time to go over new material because there are so many questions on homework, and this new material which he spends as few as five-ten minutes going over in class is what you'll be quizzed on two days later.
I have enjoyed having Andrew as my teacher - I am doing better in calculus with him then I did in algebra and precalc - straight forward material - the tests have not been surprisingly hard like I've found in the past -however, math is face paced at WWU - if lecture doesn't make sense - go to office hours!!! this is college - effort is required : )
Andrew Good is probably the best math teacher I've ever had. He is really clear in his lectures, and extremely helpful when students ask questions. He's kind of goofy, but that only makes him a better professor in my opinion.
I had Mr. Good for Math 112 which is a college based algebra class. I loved this class and I am by no means a mathematician. He made the class interesting and his energy level was very high the whole quarter. His random jokes and dry humor made the class fun.
I hate this teacher for calc 124 because he takes his notes and twisits the ideas of them and puts them on the exam. His exams are so abstract that you could easily fail them. I would tell you to never take math 124 with prof good
Andrew is a great teacher but sometimes his explanations are confusing and don't relate to the homework. He is VERY enthusiastic about math and really knows what he is talking about, so that helps a lot. All around a good class, just beware of curveballs on the exams and do the homework!
Goods is awesome. If you have trouble with math he will make sure you understand. He is a very funny and crazy guy. He is really funny and will make you laugh. He enjoys chopping wood and I would highly recommend this teacher.
Very enthusiastic teacher, does a good job at what he teaches. Problem is with his limited time, he can only cover about 25% of the material in a given section. You then must teach yourself the rest. Then comes the quiz or exam, with HUGE curveballs. About 50% is stuff similar to what you learned, the other 50% is stuff you have never heard of.
If you have trouble with math I HIGHLY recommend taking 112 with Andrew. He is very good at slowing down and breaking things down for the not math geniuses. I was so scared this class would ruin my GPA, but take my word for it.. If you get andrew, you go to class every day, pay attention and take notes, you will get it. Great professor.
Worse math teacher I've ever had. Nice guy but a terrible teacher. During class it'll make sense and you'll think you understand it, then one of his exams comes along and screws you over. The questions on his exam may be the same concept but 100 times more difficult.
Solid teacher. You have to get used to his teaching and grading style .Once you do it's great. He is a VERY fair grader. Lots of partial credit. All tests are based on previously tested material like quizzes it seems like. KEEP YOUR QUIZZES AND TESTS. He is a good teacher though just gotta get used to him. Would take him again for sure.
I have taken this class once before with a different teacher and Andrew is like the sun compared to the moon. A whole lot brighter and a whole lot better.
Very quirky and enthusiastic, lectures can be fast-paced, so I'd suggest going to office hours every day if possible just to be sure of your understanding, exams can be abstract compared to homework, but if you really understand the concepts, with effort you'll know what is being asked, three exams, six quizzes, and a final-best three scores :)
Usually I'm HORRIBLE at math and I have been through out my life. Good is really thorough with is explainations and if you don't understand he'll explain again and again. He's a great professor that makes math, my worse and most hated subject, actually kind of fun. I can't believe I just said that.
Good is an awesome teacher. He's great at explaining and is very passionate about math. It all makes sense in the homework, but then when it comes to the tests I ended up getting pretty bad grades...
Great teacher and nice guy. Tests can be tricky but very manageable if you study. Easily the best prof in the math department from what I've seen.
Good is a character. His mind seems to be going a mile a minute as his lecture often does but he is a fantastic teacher. Very passionate and his random quirks and stories provide nice breaks to the lecture. Nothing helps me learn better than a teacher that has enthusiasm for what he is teaching. Favorite math teacher at WWU
Andrew is a bit eccentric, but you can just tell he's a funny math nerd. He's super funny and entertaining as a teacher. After a hard example, he'll break the stress with a story of how he went to the bar to do trivia the night before. He's hilarious and loves math! I wish I could take him again!
He wasn't very organized, and liked hard problems. But he was a nice guy, and I ended up doing great in his class. I just had to work hard.
Don't get me wrong, I like Andrew Good as a person, he just does not explain anything well. I had to teach myself all of the material, and I did poorly because of it.
Andrew is awesome. Don't take math 112 with any other teacher if you have the choice. He assigned homework every night but it was due 2 days later, so you could ask questions in class. His office hours are super helpful! He's a cutie too- he'll stop class halfway to tell you about his weekend, then jump back into lecturing about radicals.
DONT TAKE MATH 112 FROM ANY OTHER PROFESSOR. Andrew is amazingly eccentric and is there for his students during class & office hours. You can tell he relates how he teaches to how he waswishes he was taught in college. He commonly tells stories about his everyday life in relation to math. Great grading criteria designed to make sure students pass!
I love this guy but I do feel obligated to tell you that you have to prepare for the tests and quizzes.
Good is a funny guy and I enjoyed class, but the tests and quizzes were tough! Though I'm not much of a math person, I still felt like his exams were often meant to trick you, and were things not covered in class. He assumes that since you're in Calc that you know many mathematical procedures so I found the way he taught to often be confusing.
Good is a great teacher. I struggle with math but if you go to his office hours, he's super willing to help you succeed on anything you need with. The tests are difficult and involve a lot of studying but overall a great professor who truly cares about math.
The class could be difficult which was expected but he gave lots of partial credit on tests, and when most of the class missed a problem, he would find ways for us to earn the points back. Clear lectures in class, did not need to read the book in order to do the homework. If you pay attention and do the homework, this class should be no problem.
Andrew is a really nice guy. He moves really fast through material, I would recommend using the Tutoring Center. He will help you if you ask, but it can be difficult to follow. He will keep you awake in class, and he's really funny.
He's energetic and cooky, he'll keep you entertained. However, he complicates methods and does not spend time on problems that the entire class needs. His tests and quizzes are hard but he gives partial credit sometimes. Take if you already have a good basic understanding of math or love spending time with tutors.
I took Andrew for 124 and then again for 125 because I loved his class so much. He's funny, a little OCD but gets really excited about math. He's helpful in office hours and often extends them for students who have extra questions. Lectures were relatively easy to grasp, but you homework can be tough. I'm going to miss this guy, he's the best!!
This class was definitely not my favorite to take, but Professor Good made the class so much more enjoyable! If you have to take Math 112, I would definitely recommend taking the class with him.
It doesn't seem important to Prof Good whether his students pass or not and it shows. I went to every class, stayed after to ask questions, and spent hours at tutoring and I still couldn't pass, along with many other students in the class. He moves way too fast and doesn't answer questionsfinish in class examples if he finds them "boring"
I went into this class thinking that I would do very well. He sets you up in the beginning to think that you will pass with flying colors. However, his tests are hard and he gets frustrated and gives up on explaining things very quickly. I expected to get a B-, ended up getting a C-. Would not recommend this class.
Andrew makes it very entertaining for a math class. I've had experience with 3 math 112 teachers and Andrew is by far the best. He genuine, nice, and really smart. Would reccomend if you need this class. The only problem is a specifictough grader, I missed out on points I truly believe I deserved, although I did address him about it with no gain.
Andrew wasn't the hardest teacher on the planet, but he is very unclear in his explanations and is really hard to follow. He made what should be an easy class difficult. His tests are also way more difficult than the material that he presents you with in class.
He's a hilarious guy that really knows how to get you to understand the math. Sometimes in lectures he will go a little too fast for understanding, but he always gives chances for questions to be asked where he will clarify quite a lot. Tests are tough because they include every little thing you learned in class, so good study habits are a must.
Go to class and go to office hours! Really nice and really funny. Tests are graded kind of oddly, has you define terms on tests and he defines the terms in class so make an effort to go to class or at least go to office hours for 5 minutes to get them from him. You do have to put a little extra time to do well. Textbook is on a PDF and hard copy.
Professor Good is an interesting man that is very interested in math. He doesn't really teach out of the book, and makes up all his own tests so be sure to go to class to take down his notes. He can be confusing at times, but his tests are very simple and easy to ace. Homework is minimal and there are 5 tests throughout the quarter.
The teacher is a quality teacher. He's very up beat, and its evident that he has a passion for math and what he teaches. Classes rarely get boring and bogged down, because of this. Would definitely recommend.
Andrew Good is a wonderful professor, but when it comes to what he teaches compared to what he puts on the tests it's a different story. The class i'm currently in averages a C- on most tests. The tests are much more difficult then the homework he assigns and the homework itself doesn't have an answer key so you never know if you're doing it right.
Had him last quarter for 156 and thought he wasn't too bad, but this quarter taking Calculus with him has been difficult. Tests are super challenging and are nothing like his lectures where he spends time demonstrating simple examples. The average on tests tends to be poor usually around a D. Lots of students are struggling. Not recommend.
Having him last quarter for 156 and then this quarter for 157 is a huge difference. It doesn't seem like the material is that much harder but this quarters exams are super difficult. Hes a great guy but it seems like you are supposed to fail his tests. Posts text online but again VERY HARD TESTS
Hes super confusing
If you didn't take him for 156 then you're going to have a hard time. He is a fairly easy teacher but is hard to understand sometimes and uses most all of what he taught from 156 over to 157. This class is hard but test questions basically come straight from lectures. He doesn't use the book too much, only for homework.
I didn't really like him or his teaching style. Math isn't my strong suit and his lectures tend to be very quick-paced and he doesn't give more than one explanation for concepts if you don't understand his initial one. I once asked him a question in class, he just laughed and went on lecturing, so don't expect him to take your needs too seriously.
Andrew Good actually saved my quarter. His syllabus says no make-up exams would be given so when I knew I had to miss one, I thought I was screwed. He helped rearrange some of my other exams to make them worth a higher percentage in lieu of the missed exam. He is also VERY helpful in office hours when his lectures just don't quite sit right with ya
Andrew is a very nice guy but his class seems nearly impossible to pass. He teaches concepts effectively but the book doesn't seem to help enforce those concepts at all so there's really no way to be prepared for his really hard tests. If you struggle with math this might not be the best prof for you. Everything is fine until you get to the tests.
Best math professor at WWU.
Great professor, helpful outside of class, not a great presenter but still fun and interesting lectures.
Andrew was a great math prof! Graded fairly and really cared about his students. Class was hard but was on par with other math classes.
I took him for math 112, super interesting and entertaining person, he tries to make sure everyone is up to speed but sometimes that can be hard with such a fast pace class. If you do the homework and and pay attention you will probably do fine on the tests/ quizzes.
One of the best math professors I've ever had. This class was hard, no joke but if you ask lots of questions and go to office hours whenever you can you can pass. Andrew is super helpful if you let him be.
Andrew is a bad professor. His class is easy enough, but I had Calc. in high school. A friend of mine in the class hadn't taken calc ever and she was real confused. His lectures aren't really relevant and he talks about his personal life A LOT. Of the 50 minutes of class, 30 are spent on calculus.
This guy has a very enthusiastic personality, and seems to really love his job. That helps me show up to his class, he is also very funny. The way he present the material is very clear and precise, although sometimes he goes really fast through teaching important things, making it hard to remember how to do it for HW/test
He gets very excited and may start to talk really fast but you can tell he focuses heavily on being the best teacher he can. Definitely the best teacher Ive ever had. He's a very fair grader too. Definitely recommend.
I really enjoyed Andrew's teaching. He is a little quick paced, but if you can keep up with him you should be okay. He's organization is really good in how he teaches the material. His grading scale is great and gives you great opportunity to boost your grade (no extra credit, which is fine.) If you show up everyday and do the work, you'll be fine.

Andrew Good was, well, a good professor. He is very animated in his lectures and obviously passionate about math, but sometimes gets too focused on small things and runs out of time. The tests are hard, and he doesn't help you prepare for them much outside of a few practice problems. Overall, good, not great.
A super great professor if you need to take Business calc. For the most part lectures are straight forward and make sense. He teaches you everything that will be on the tests and they aren't too difficult if you study. Really nice guy
Andrew is such a smart guy that he has a very hard time dumbing it down for people like me that struggle with math. I had to hire a tutor to meet with 3 times a week and go into his office hours at least once a week. He is very available for help, but I have never had to work so hard just to pass a class.
Good is the best math teacher you will get here. He is so nice and makes you really understand. Go to class, take notes, and use his office hours! You'll pass if you do this. He gives you chances for extra credit. Class is engaging. Do the hw it really helps on exams and quizzes. As long as you do hw you'll pass
Andrew is a great professor who is almost always available for extra help or to just talk about life. A real stand up character who wants only the best of you. His grading scale is fair and just. I highly suggest getting to know him, very funny and interesting.
He is very easy to listen to. I felt the concepts were explained very well for the most part. He's super friendly and I loved his awkward sense of humor. If you go to his office hours you won't regret it He's a very hard grader on exams, which he doesn't really make clear at first. Answers need to be explained to every last tiny detail
Andrew is really great. He really cares about the material, and he definitely knows his stuff. From coming into his office hours and talking to him it's clear he's actively thinking about the status of the classrooms understanding and how to make it better. I hope to find future math courses taught by him.
Lecture is confusing. He primarily focuses on why things work, not how they are done. You miss a lot of needed concepts to complete homework. Miss in class work and you can't make it up. Very tough grader, if you don't explain everything in detail on quizzes and exams you lose at least one point even if your answer is correct per problem.
The only reason i like this professor is because he does quiz corrections and i got a lot of points back during that. He does a lot of in class group work that you turn in for points which gets annoying. Most of his teaching is him trying to get us to answer the question and work on it ourselves. Class average for the first exam was a D. Maths hard
Andrew is very accessible outside of class but that's one of the only good things I could say about him. He is slightly condescending and it's always either his way or the highway. Even if you get a test answer correct, if you don't show every bit of work in detail he takes off points. He does allow quiz corrections though but this class sucks.
If you have a hard time with math, this isn't the class for you. If you are math-oriented, you should be able to keep up. Andrew is a nice guy, but his lectures are EXTREMELY fast-paced and unorganized. I always take thorough notes during lectures, but I couldn't decipher them when I'd review them after class because he was all over the place.
Andrew is really friendly and helpful! You can tell he really cares about math and is passionate about teaching it. That being said math 114 is a hard class and he can go really quick through lectures and the class is fast paced. However he's always accessible outside of class and eager to help!
He knows what he's talking about, but he goes so fast. Lectures are hard to understand. He goes over the most basic stuff from the section, and then the homework is 10x harder. Class average for second exam was 65-70%. That's not normal, nor is that a good thing. He has office hours but only for one hour and half the class is there.
His instructions are really vague. Even when people ask for clarification he doesn't directly answer the question. He jumps around a lot when lecturing it can get really distracting. There's an essay due for the final and no one knew what he wanted us to do. There are five tests but he drops the lowest score. It's hard to focus in his class.
Andrew is a really great guy and very passionate about math! I took his 8:00am class and somehow he had so much energy that he even woke me up! He is a really good professor and is really understanding. He is a bit fast-paced at times due to his energetic nature but just ask questions and he'll gladly explain! Grading is clear, overall great prof.!
Good is a great professor. He is a little fast paced; that is why I recommend being there every day, but he is energetic and explains things well. I had his 8 am class, and his mood makes this class time bearable. The quizzes do make a difference so study a lot for them. He is not a tough grader but do learn how he wants answers written.
Exciting with "a splash of awkward" lecture style. Goes over graded homework when requested, and is always available for extra help. Makes math actually enjoyable with his random mid-lecture thoughts and his awkward excitement over it. Will walk away from the board frequently and SPRINTS back to the beginning to make a strong learning point.
Andrew is a really nice guy and you can tell he really cares. He will literally sprint across the room to write on the board while lecturing. Hes accessible at office hours. That said, he moves VERY quickly and due dates are VERY unclear. In class examples rarely mirror the homework and make actually doing the HW very difficult.
HE RUNS BACK AND FORTH IN THE CLASS. HE DOESN'T ALSO CONSIDER STUDENT ATHLETES WHEN THEY MISS CLASSES.
I really enjoyed Andrews class! His lectures were really good at leading you through the logic behind the math and only collects homework once a week. His tests were very doable and he is super approachable and available. My fav math class Ive ever taken!
Dont expect this to be an easy class even if you are great at math. Be prepared to come to class so you dont miss his lectures & STUDY for the tests. Despite the difficulty though, Andrew is an enjoyable, humorous professor who helps a lot in office hours. Utilize his office hours because he explains things in better detail than in class.
Andrew can seem kinda wild at first. He's really socially awkward so at the start of the quarter he is super jumpy, but as he gets more comfortable with the class he settles down a bit. I found it super helpful to stop by his office hours because it felt like he was more comfortable there.
You can tell he is passionate about math & he is willing to work with you if you ask for help. Still, his lectures are very fast, grading is harsh, & the HW never matches what you've learned that day. Prepare to work hard for this grade. While he is a smart person, his in class teaching stays pretty advanced & disorganized. Due dates are unclear.
Calculus is always a hard subject, but Andrew makes the math bearable. Offers Quiz corrections in his 157 class, and truly cares for his students. Go to his office hours, he's very helpful on homework questions.
I took Math 157 (Business Calculus) with Andrew and I really enjoyed his teaching style. I felt low stress throughout the quarter because he offers quiz corrections and is always available to help. He'll make time for you to understand things clearly and especially when you visit him during office hours. This class exceeded expectations for me.
I thought I was going to fail this class before I took it since my straight A friend got a C from another prof. Andrew change my mind. Fast lecture but easier to understand than the book (gotta stay very focus). Very accessible and helpful office hours. Truly cares for his students and willing to go over homework in class until you understand it.
Andrew is a pretty good professor despite the awkwardness and sprinting around in the classroom. I strongly suggest to pay close attention in class so there won't be a lot to catch up at home. he grades really though but there is always quiz correction which you get 50% of the points you lost back.
Definitely very helpful outside of class but in class could be way more specific about what we need to know. Grades each homework assignment entirely which can really affect your grade. I recommend going to office hours as much as you can, or getting help from an outside source. His teaching style just wasn't really for me.
Andrew is the best prof you could ever have. He takes his time explaining things when you need the explanation, he's extremely caring, kind, funny, anything you'd need and want in a professor. He was extremely thoughtful and lenient this quarter especially (I had him during COVID-19 when everything was moved online).
Super good at explaining things. Had him during Covid-19 and he would give little 5-10 min vids explaining everything. Dropped a week of homework. Grade is made up of 10% reflection 20% homework 40% quizzes and 30% exams.
Always seems like he stayed up all night and is wired off coffee but definitely a super understanding and attentive teacher. Considering how bad I am at math he made it easy to ask questions and understand which helped me get an A. Recommend for anyone taking Business Algebra or Business Calc only downside is he gets distracted and runs out of time
He dedicates a lot of time to try and reach out to his students but his teaching style isn't the best for me. It is kinda hard to understand his lectures and even going to office hours I was still confused. Im sure his teaching style is better for others it just wasn't the best for me
If you have taken pre-calc before this will be easy for you. Main downside of this class is the only way to get the textbook is buying direct from the bookstore. Can't find it online. Professor good is cool tho. Offered daily sessons if you needed help
Andrew is awesome, he really loves math and is great at explaining it at the optional q and a sessions. He has his online class set up great and has reasonable homework expectations.
I had a really hard time in Andrew's class. The biggest complaint is that the weekly quizzes are nothing like the homework or lecture examples. I also couldn't learn from his lectures at all, but that obviously won't apply to everyone. Tons of homework every day and was kind of condescending when I did badly on a test.
Andrew is one of the nicest professors you'll work with and really wants to see you succeed. Go to his office hours/Q&A if you are ever confused.
Such a great professor. He makes calculus easy to understand and was so accommodating during covid. I failed my last calc class with a 37%!! With prof Good I was actually able to understand the concepts and didnt need outside sources
Overall, good class. There's lots of homework and the exams don't always reflect the homework. The lectures were not specific and did not provide a lot of examples.
Very accessible material, great short lectures, and a manageable work load. Andrew is a fantastic teacher and he is very willing to help. So far, he is the best math professor I have had at Western by far!
He's a super nice guy but his teaching methods are just awful and you leave the class learning nothing, at least for Math 110. Just don't take this course.
Others have already summed up pretty much what I came here to say. We just got our finals back and he ended up having to drop the grade scale by ten points since no one passed, and the test was only out of 39 points. That goes to show something.
Tested twice a week, lots of homework, unspecific lectures, and he needed to curve the exam by 10 points, something is wrong. He's a nice guy, but the exams felt unpredictable, and harsh. I feel like I wasted my time trying hard in this class. If he gave study guides, or let us use notes on these exams, it would be more understandable.
He is happy to help, but his teaching feels jumbled. There isn't any direct instruction about the topics, you just go over the homework during classtimes. Quizzes are every Tuesday, and there are tests every Friday.
Andrew is honestly one of the best math teachers I've had. I had him as my prof for both 156 and 157 which to me were quite difficult, but he made it a lot easier with clear and concise online videos and using class time for reviewing homework questions. Sometimes he talks really fast tho.
Weekly homework, quiz online/in-person once/week, and three exams. This professor is flexible with accommodations and good with communication. I went to his office hours a lot and I would utilize the touring center. Very clear with their expectations on what he wants. Highly recommend this professor one of the best math professors at Western!
Pros: very nice, accommodating, good communicator, always helpful, clear grading criteria, drops worst test grades. Cons: homework almost every day, sometimes teaches a bit fast, hard class. Overall, I would recommend. Some of the bad things about the class such as a lot of homework or having harder material is inevitable for math classes.
I found this class to be a bit difficult for me and I feel behind quite a bit. But he has helped me a lot with accommodations and going into in depth explanations for any questions during office hours. Lots of homework like most math classes, and online quizzes are worded weird sometimes. But overall a good teacher and he drops grades too.
This class reunited my love for math. Before taking this class, I would have said that I am not a math person, but now I found I really love it, especially calculus. It's amazing what having a good professor will do!
Great professor! loved the way he explained everything
Andrew Good is a very interesting person with a quirky/awkward personality. His math 110 class does not have a clear structure, we just topics randomly and some do not have a clear reason or connection to real world ideas. He is particular with grading and gives you thorough feedback. There are no tests or final exam.
Andrew is great about answering questions, and being accessible outside of class. The weekly quizzes could be brutal, but he dropped the lowest two scores which was great. 118 is a lot of graphing, which sucks, but Andrew was good about taking time in class to go over homework questions.
Despite not being the best at math, I absolutely loved this class. Prof. Andrew is clearly passionate about the material, which made learning from him fun. He made me feel like my questions mattered, and gave good explanations rather that just the answer to the problem. Very accessible in office hours, and was happy to stay late if I needed help.
there's homework for every section of notes, but it isn't due until a couple days after notes. quizzes are weekly, the 2 lowest scores are dropped. the same with exams. 2 unit exams, as well as an optional cumulative final. andrew is kind and funny (and a little quirky). he has an arthritic chihuahua he takes care of. take andrew, he slays.
This class is very fast paced and there is usually homework every night. His lecture style is interesting and relies mostly on his memory which is very impressive. Professor good conveys the information and connects the subjects together. The tests and quizzes are engaging, If you mess up don't worry because two quizzes will be dropped.
This class is extremely hard. It's challenging math and a lot of information crammed into a quarter. However, Professor Good is an amazing professor. He really does want to see his students succeed. Some of the quizzes are challenging because some questions are conceptual, so make sure to review notes. Don't fall behind.
While Business Calc is a very hard class, Professor Good does his best to make sure students succeed by answering questions, being available during and outside of office hours, and sometimes providing test corrections. He's a great person but my only complaint is sometimes material barely mentioned in class will show up on the quizzes and exams.
Andrew is so nice and really cares about his students. He can be a little bit all over the place in lectures but he teaches the material well. He is also very approachable with questions and great to go to for office hours. The class has weekly quizzes, a few midterms, and a final. He gives partial credit which is nice for silly mistakes.
Andrew is extremely energetic and knowledgeable about business calculus but sometimes he leaves the class behind his gigantic brain. He doesn't have enough time to explain everything, so the lectures seem rushed. Otherwise, he was amazing.
Andrew is so sweet and very good at helping his students. I had no idea what I was doing coming into this class but Andrew obviously loves math and helped me enjoy it a lot. great teacher overall
I loved Professor Good! He was all around an awesome professor who I hope to take another class with. He cares about his students and puts an effort in to help anyone struggling. Easily one of the best professors I've ever had.
He's a very nice professor who is clearly passionate about math. Quizzes every week, but 2 are dropped, and 3 exams total (including the final), but 1 is dropped. He's a good teacher but it's worth mentioning that his teaching is very disorganized and fast-paced, making the class difficult. Exam questions directly reflected the homework.
Andrew is very sweet, however his teaching style didn't work for me. Fast paced with no posted notes, just lectures but attendance isn't graded- he mostly did practice problems during class. Homework was given pretty much every day, quizzes once a week (two lowest scores are dropped), and three exams (lowest score is dropped).
Very nice guy. His tests and quizzes are very difficult, none of his lectures are recorded, and the textbook is useless (unfortunately, you need it for homework). I worked countless hours a week and still struggled with tests and quizzes. The mean for the optional final was 22%.
Genuinely the best math teacher I've ever had. I felt like I was actually understanding the material for the first time. Very approachable and easy to ask for help, and he extended office hours to help students who couldn't get there during his normal hours.
Really good guy and really good teacher. Super kind and encourages questions. Graded by daily homeworks and weekly quiz/test. Your 2 worst quiz scores are dropped and your worst test score is dropped.
Enthusiastic about his teaching, but it can be easy to get lost. I'm not very good at math but learned a lot about applied math in this class, which was good. Accommodating as long as you advocate for yourself and he is helpful during office hours. Cares about his students and is a pretty funny and nice guy. Made me like math a little more!
The homework load is manageable if it were 5 credits. Lectures were difficult to understand. Picks what to teach from the textbooks, no study guides, requires a lot of self-teaching and tears. There is not a week where there is no quiz or exam to take so be prepared for a quick-paced class. Jumps and skips through concepts. When explaining, vauge.
Overall a good professor and great guy. Some things that could be better, like he talks SO fast and sometimes doesn't always explain things very clearly. So when both of those things happen at the same time it can get confusing. But there's lots of room for error in this class b/c he drops the lowest 2 quizzes and 1 test! No lectures posted online.
Andrew has a very sweet personality, but the mindset of "you must fail to understand." I am not the best at math, but never got this low of scores. Tests are nothing like the homework. He runs around the room and seems to nervous to teach properly. Only good if you are retaking 124
He's a nice guy, and I felt like I learned something at each of his lectures, but the class is a lot. I had 7 quizzes (2 dropped) and 3 exams (1 dropped, but it's the final, and is technically optional), as well as homework almost every day, both written and online, with few days to do it. The tradeoff is he does go over some problems in class.
Went to office hours, showed up to class, participated, studied, went to tutoring. Andrew was no help and did not care to make time to meet. He judged others for lack of knowledge, lectures were all over the place.
accused me of cheating on an exam because "he saw me look over at the person next to me" yet admitted our tests looked nothing alike and he had no proof other than what he saw. ive literally never had something like that happen before. he was fine otherwise.
Professor Good is a knowledgeable and caring instructor. The class is challenging, but his enthusiasm and willingness to help make it manageable. Using unstuck AI alongside the textbook and office hours really helped me stay on top of the material.
I have never met someone as mean as he is. My friend died, he told me to drop the course. I had a family emergency and had to miss class and even though i emailed him and my group mates he took me out of the group with no further explanation. When asked what assignments needed to be done so i could pass to tranfer he didn't answer.
Andrew Good is the best math teacher I've ever had so far. His lectures are mandatory but being there is very rewarding in the long run (learning the content). He seems passionate about what he teaches and you can see it through his lectures. If I was ever confused he was more than happy to answer any questions either during class or office hours.
I took Math 118. He was a great professor. He breaks the math down to basic building blocks and then builds it back up, which takes a bit to get used to. He did a great job answering questions and being available for students. Definitely go to class and go to office hours if you have questions.
He is a very sweet man with a good personality but personally his style of teaching was very ineffective & difficult to grasp. In a class like accelerated precalc (118) it's expected to be a little more difficult but the average grade was 50% so if you already struggle with math this will be a challenging course for you (expect to teach yourself)
Rarely does he actually teach, just tells you to flip to X page of the workbook and figure it out by yourself or with classmates. He'll go over some basic stuff very quickly sometimes, but rarely lectures or even walks through how to solve a problem. Grades homework that he never taught how to do based on accuracy so most of the others just cheat.
Overall Andrew was average. there were a couple group projects. I think that the math portion could have been taught better. It is nice that there are no tests or quizzes
38% of the grade wa exams, 40% was quizzes, 1 exam was dropped, and 2 quizzes were dropped. He didn't lecture at all; we mostly did homework in class. He doesn't believe in practice problems. If you need lectures to understand, don't take him. The mean for the two exams was 69%. He drops so many quizzes and exams because he's bad at teaching.
I've heard he's not everybody's cup of tea, but I enjoyed his class and felt I was able to learn a lot. I appreciated how accessible he was outside of class. He has office hours everyday, and you can set up times to meet him if needed. There are a lot of quizzes and tests, but he does drop your worst two quiz scores and worst test score.
Andrew is such a nice guy, and he never hesitates to explain things further. He did have weekly quizzes every Friday, but I actually liked that policy because it broke the course content into easily digestible chunks. He also dropped the lowest two weekly quiz scores. And if you do good on the two in-class exams, you don't have to take the final!
Andrew was great! The only downside to his class is that he is a tough grader, he looks for very specific answers and sometimes the test questions can be confusing. Overall though he is really good a teaching and cares about your success.
I loved Math 110, and Andrew was a pretty okay professor. Not sure I learned much from him though, I always found myself looking up how to do the content after class because his lecture's weren't super thorough.
Andrew Good is not a good professor, but unfortunately he is the only professor to teach math 157. He doesn't have clear feedback after quizzes or exams. Even if the answer is correct and you explain what you mean he doesn't care about fixing the mistake he made.
Andrew's math 118 was awesome as review, but a lot of my classmates who were newer to precalc struggled a lot. I am very math brained, and I felt like Andrew presented the material in a really interesting way that made me understand it a lot deeper than before. It was cool. I really loved his course and lecture style, but it isn't for everyone.
He is very passionate about math and is willing to answer any questions. His lectures can be fast moving but if can pay attention then he is a really great teacher. Come to class and do the homework and you will pass. He is also a pretty funny guy, I would highly recommend him.
I really liked Andrews 157 class. I took him for MATH156 and do well with his lecture/weekly quiz format, so I took calculus with him after withdrawing from it in winter with a different professor. Andrew teaches very quickly and it can be hard to understand/follow sometimes, but if you go to office hours you'll do fine.
he has a fast teaching style, which can be tough to follow, but it can be pretty engaging (at least for me). he is a very nice guy, and if you are having a tough time, you should definitely invest in his office hours. overall, he was a good professor and you can tell he wants the best for his students and wants them to succeed.
This teacher spent too much time going over the fundamentals and zero time in class showing us how to do the actual assignments. No practice quizzes were given, so it was hard to prepare for the quiz EVERY FRIDAY. I still have bad dreams about this teacher and the class. I can kind of derive now, and will NEVER take another calc class again.
Worst professor I have ever had. He assigns online AND written homework almost everyday which imo is excessive. There is little to no information on the class accessible via the canvas and he has the worst syllabus you could ever see. A lot of grades get dropped/replaced because he knows most people wont pass without it. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS.
I am generally good at math but the concepts were pretty challenging for me to grasp for a while. He was really good at explaining everything tho and was actually sad when people didn't ask him questions or come to office hours he really is invested in how well you understand his material. The textbook was free and online which was a plus.
great guy. also pretty good at teaching
Super sweet and caring guy, but VERY fast teaching style, only explaining things once. If you cant focus well on 2 things at once, take pictures of the board to take notes on later. Or be really good at and comfortable with asking questions. There's a LOT of homework, and he doesn't provide an answer key, so you dont know if you're doing it right.
