Why is someone who thinks he is so smart, teaching freshman english?

Green is a nice guy and for the most part, all the minor assignments in his class are easy. There isn't that much work to do. However, I don't think like how he grades the major assignments (70% of grade). I hear other teachers are better than him.
I thought that his lectures were boring and had very little effect on the assignments. The essays seemed as if they were just thought up by a chimp. They were ridiculously(sp) hard.
i've had him two semesters in a row and he can be quite pompous from time to time, but it's easy to pass the class. 3 papers and no final (for freshman english). his grading is weird and he's awkward, but he's clear about assignments and papers. the class goes by pretty fast so it's not too bad.
Professor Green is a nice guy, and I guarantee that if you take his class, you will be challenged and learn new techniques to become a better writer. This class inspired me to Minor in English and helped me realize my writing potential.
I felt that he was condescending and unclear in his grading techniques.
He tries to be helpful. He's available to meet with students, but tries to be an emotional support rather than an academic one at times. Assignments often seem nothing but busy work, but the essays can be challenging for Freshmen. Grading techniques are curious. He seems very easily impressed by papers obviously written with a thesaurus in each hand masquerading as a strong vocabulary.
Very bad professor. Don't take this guy if you don't absolutely have to. The class is unnecessarily difficult, and the writing just doesn't seem very relevant. Green seems to favor girls. Avoid this class if you can.

The class is challenging, you definitely cannot bs your way through it. The grade is basically 3 essays. Class discussions are fun, he never will just tell you your idea is wrong, he'll just ask for textual support. I loved his class. I went in hating literature, and by the end of the semester, I had a true appreciation for it. I left a better writer as well, and the difficulty was worth it. He was there to help academically, and with personal problems. I highly reccomend his class!
He is an excellent teacher and a great guy. He does like to challenge you to write well, and he does have relatively high standards, but his class is very rewarding. His class is also very fun, and I sometimes even miss it. I would reccomend this class only if you are a decent writer to start with.
He's really nice and helpful.... cute butt.
Not a bad teacher, though at times selfish and arrogant. Will do little to help students; definitely won't go out of his way to do so.
He is a horrible teacher. A rude, arrogant ****. Makes you think he is bending over backwards for you, where in reality he is doing absolutely nothing to help you at all. He is stuck up, doesn't care about anything but himself, and he doesn't care if someone dies or you are in the hospital - bitter ****.
Terrible. Most of us in this class are confused as to what he is asking for on the assignments (the standard response to our essays is "you can't just do ____, you have to do MORE.") Just a bad teacher, pure and simple. This class started out with 31 or so students, and has now dropped to 14. Refuses to give extra credit. A bad, bad, bad teacher.
wow... this class was way intense. he gives you a lot of work, but if you take advantage of the help he will give you outside of class (which is limitless), and you attend class (HUGE, he does not mess around when it comes to absences), your writing will improve, you just have to be ready to work hard. he is a very hard grader.
He's probably the best English teacher I've ever had. He's tough but not so much that you feel like you want to kill yourself. He's respectful of ideas and really encourages class discussion. He has no problem talking to students about papers and offers lots of help and if you take advantage of what he offers you should do great.
i liked green alot. the subject was boring as hell. and though he came off as being a strict teacher, he was very courteous and gave back alot of feedback which def helped my writing. overrall, good teacher
He's a horrible teacher, expecting massive amounts of work to be done in short time as if students dont have any other classes. He is extremely strict as far as absences go, only allowing 2 although he himself has missed more. The class overall is very boring in subject matter.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! it is not an easy class and there is a lot of reading for homework. he is extremly sarcastic and in your face. to much work and not a good time... no no no dont do it
You will learn a ton in this class but there is a lot of work. He is very interested in your education and the class and expects the same of you, just for the class I hope. If you follow his recomendations and ask for extra help and follow it you will get an A in his class.
TERRIBLE ATTITUDE
Andrew Green is a very pompous man. He is willing to give extra help, but when I followed his suggestions I received little to no improvement in my grade. He is very sarcastic and rude. He made a comment saying vegetarians go against "God", as if anglo-saxon christian are the only students to attend UM. Do not take his class.
Great teacher, but don't expect an easy A. He focuses a lot on the process on writing and really helps you develop your skills as a writer. Only 3 big papers throughout the semester and not too much reading at all, but definitel challenges you to work on the writing process. I would reccomend him if you want to improve your skills as a writer, but
yeah he helps you develop good writing skills but hes not enjoyable by any means, if you're looking for a tough class, this is it..... also suggest don't do it
This guy is such a square. His class is too much work, not fun, and overall terrible! How can anyone give him a good score? I think he rated himself for some of these because NOBODY likes his class! Run away!!!
This class was very helpful to my development of writing. He is very nice and class discussion are alot of fun.His class gave me the opportunity to make friends. Take advantage of his office hours. His class is based on 3 papers and there are three long readings. Never tells you one is wrong just looks for evidence.Writing topics are unique.
Professor Green can either be a teacher you really love or really hate. He comes off as a jerk sometimes, but he's really a good-hearted guy who wants you to work really hard and has some fun doing it. His classes are informal and you can say anything you want as long as you can back it up. If you life discussions and proving your point, he's great
Calls on people in class which is kinda annoying especially if you arent paying attention. Interesting class though as far as an English class goes. Three papers 4-5 pages each.
It's only the middle of the term, and I wish I would have listened to what other people posted! Way to much work for a basic writing class. Plus Green is really annoying, he likes to pick on the people who he knows wont know the anwser.
He sucks,He is a waste of time.WORST PROFESSOR EVER.
He's a pretty hard grader, but the class can be interesting and funny. He's pretty understanding. Grade is based on 3 essays, class participation, and homework which is usually online postings about the works being studied. Dont take him if you want an A
DO NOT TAKE!!!!! BY FAR THE WORST TEACHER AT UM. DOES NOT CARE ABOUT STUDENTS AND TAKES PLEASURE IN HANDING OUT BAD GRADES. TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
he was one of my worst experience at UM. DO NOT TAKE HIM EVER
WORST TEACHER EVER. I never before got lower than an A in English including an A+ in english 105 and this dude goes off with comments like "this is good work, C+". If only we could all write like he does.
You will either love him or hate him, but most people hate him. I think it was really funny because our class united in disliking him, which made way for some interesting conversations. As for grading, if you participate a lot in class (lots of discussion) and can write semi-well, you don't have to worry. I got an A, but it was definitely tough.
i personally like him as a person and he's a great teacher. I definitely grew a lot as a student from his class but I will say that it was ALOT of work. For every paper I went in to see him twice and went to the writing center. I would have at least a couple of drafts for every paper, so decide if its worth your time and effort.
Tough grader. Feedback is often ambiguous. Essay topics are different but interesting. Likes to make students mimic academic essays rather than be original. Nice man who is willing to help. Take advantage of his office hours. Recommended for decent writers-- you will do well. If you consider yourself a poor writer, there is no hope of an a.
He is a very tough grader, take advantage of his office hours, he loves students who show concern for their essay's, and grade for the class. If you follow his criteria you should do fine, but his class is A LOT of work...but he helped me become a better writer in the end.
real bad. don't take.
Andrew Green is helpful at times when at office hours or by appointment. However, his grading scheme is all over the place. He does not grade on the quality of the essay and thinks a C on a paper is good. The good part is there are only 3 papers but some of the minor assignments are useless. Movie nights are a waste of time. I do not recommend.
Green is a very tough grader when it comes to essays. His critiques on rough drafts can be very unclear and when you get to the final draft it shows in your grade. Although I do feel like I am a better writer from his class, it was not an easy road to get a good grade. Also, the class is quite boring and expect to listen to his corny jokes.
English was my favorite subject throughout my high school and college life. After taking this class I would rather drop out of college than attend once more of his useless classes. You will absolutely hate this class. The man thinks he is next Hemingway so his grades are based on that BS. WORST CLASS EVER. I beg you not to take this class!
Awesome professor. If you want to learn, take him. He is extremely helpful, and will put out a little extra effort to help you if you ask nicely. You will need to work, and spend some time on your essays. Never leave your reading until the morning before class... Highly recommended.
Overall terrible experience. I got an A in ENG105 and now I dropped to a D-?? Very disrespectful with grades; he gave out at least 5 on our first paper in a 15 person class. Judges your writing once and then if he thinks it is bad, it is impossible to improve. Do not take this course
worst professor ever..
Worst professor I've had so far. Extremely tough grader and very strict about deadlines. Also, he'll put your grade in his class entirely in the hands of one other student. He doesn't look over your rough drafts. He has other, untrained students do it. If you get a crappy student, good luck passing his class.
Even though English is my first language and I have been doing great since high school. Now I have completely lost my interest because of this bloody class. This professor needs to take a break. HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED!
Green is a tough grader. He has high expectations for final drafts. If you miss more than 2 classes it hurts your grade. Most of the essays you read are boring. Strict on deadlines. If you can find another english teacher, do so.
I don't get all the comments. I mean, yeah, he's difficult and yeah there is a lot of reading, but it's like no one expected to work or do anything when they came here. It's kind of embarassing. I mean he told me what to do when I got a bad grade and he told me how to do it again and I did better. You learn a lot.
Ay Lord. Don't take. He thinks he's your friend & tries to give advice for your personal life. In grading and advice for Eng, utterly useless. His comments for rough drafts are horrible. Super unclear, a lot of boring work, not too hard, but doesnt provide enough help. Take Martha Otis! She's amazing.
Difficult class mainly due to his very vague teaching and overall unhelpfulness. In class he gives alot of BS exercises that do not teach anything towards writing. He is obnoxious and almost nearly gave me a D not because of my work but because he messed up my grade on the grade calculator.
After taking 106 with him after 105, I firmly believe the Professor Green is one of the best professors at UM. He's incredibly helpful with regard to everything in class, and will spend a lot of time and effort working with you to improve your writing. And the best part is that he does it because he truly cares, not just because it's his job.
Gives 1 bonus pt for perfect attendance. As long as you work hard on your essays and show him your effort and participate in class, you can get an A - he raises your grade depending on your effort. He's a hard grader but he's extremely helpful if you ask for it. You'll learn a lot from him. Also for essays, you get a lot of peer review.
You get what you put in. He's very willing to help students during office hours. I was almost never bored in his class. If you want an easy A don't take him. If you want a teacher that has a passion for what he does and are willing to be prepared for class discussions, then you'll enjoy this class.
Andrew Green is an absolutely awful professor. Don't. Take. Him.
Well, it's a mandatory class and Drew doesn't make it painless. Keys to know: allowed to miss 2 classes, after that takes half letter grade off. Horrible jokes. Overall not a bad guy I guess, you learn a decent amount, but it is a fairly difficult class. Avoid if you can, could be a bit worse, could be MUCH better.
Dont take his classes. The actual class is relatively laid back but he expects the world with his assignments. His comments are not helpful. You can write prolifically about a topic & his only comment will be along the lines of "you could have/should have done.." Also, he assigns a boatload of useless exercises that are a waste of time & irrelevant
Professor Green makes the class fun, engaging, and helps the time pass quickly. He's a nice guy who seems to have a passion for this subject. However, the class does require a lot of work. Be ready to read a lot! Also, in my opinion, he expects a bit too much for the essays. You will learn a lot though.
One of the worst english teachers I have ever had. He expects way too much of your writing and grades at at least a graduate level. I suggest not taking his class, because it's almost impossible to do well.
Pretty easy to get along w/ in class & keeps the mood light. Very UNCLEAR with his feedback on essays. Simply says things like "you could've explored more by doing xyz." Always. He's def an ideologue & from time to time drops irrelevant political messages (it helps to just agree w/ the guy). In summation, AVOID if possible!
Gotta say, one of the hardest teachers at UM. He expects far too much from his students, and his comments don't exactly help to bring you to his desired destination. His advice typically goes something like "vague," "abstract," or "could have done more with the quote." But most people got Cs. Do the best you can if your stuck with him.
Very helpful if you go to his office hours. He is a very committed person who honestly wants to give people an A if they deserve it. If you put yourself into the subject and really engage, you can get a good grade. His class discussions are actually very interesting and thought provoking. Hard class but I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Great guy
Dr. Green is sarcastic and witty. He wants to give As to those who deserve it. To those of you who can write, his class is very easy. He is always willing to help. Keep up the participation and always do online postings. Showing up to class is a must.
Although it's been a bit of time since I took Andrew Green's class, I'll still say that he is a very unreasonable guy who expects way too much for a class that deals with freshmen. I got an A+ in a higher writing class I took after him, but a B- in his class, despite my work quality being around the same. If your GPA mattes to you, AVOID him.
I'll admit that some of his exercises were quite interesting and helpful. That being said, he is not a good professor. He is highly unfair and biased when it comes to grading. I've always been a good writer and I failed this class. I took it again afterwards with professor Johnson and got an A. I definitely don't recommend him.
He grades very harshly for a class that is mainly for freshmen. I've only ever gotten As in previous English classes, but I got Bs on all my essays. People in other sections of English 105 have told me how easy it is to get an A, so if you're really concerned about your GPA take this from another professor.
Professor Green is one of my favorites at UM. Disregard any negative reviews. If you simply check over your work like you are supposed to and don't procrastinate, then you will do fine. The class is built for peer review and draft writing, and of course your going to get a bad grade if you don't put in any effort. TAKE HIM.
He doesn't explain well what you did wrong on the papers, just vague answers. class is mandatory. For a english for engineers class its too hard and too much work.
Amazing Professor, very helpful, assignments are clear, offers to guide you throughout your papers, gives great advice
I was never a fan of English courses in high school but I still did fairly well - mainly B's. I really liked Greens class though, he made class as witty and interesting as he could and was always there to help you with your papers.
Go to class and do your work on time. There are easier teachers
Overall, Andrew Green's class is fairly easy. However, he is not at all a good professor. He thinks he provides you with the best of feedback on your rough drafts when he in fact does not. Also, he is big on attendance meanwhile he says nothing useful in his lectures. Be prepared for him to go on and on about his short time spent at oxford.
Professor Green was on the most part very welcoming and comforting the first few weeks of class. Even though I passed the class, I expected a higher grade than I thought. Take advantage of the online peer reviews it helps a lot. He is a tough grader and his prompts for essays are quite confusing. Don't buy the book. Waste of money.
I've done each assignment that he gave us on time, and I never skipped a single class. Yet he gives me C just because I'm not a native American.
Green is actually a very caring professor. He wants his students to succeed, but he also wants them to respect him. If you fail to come to class, do your work, or respect him/peers in class, you will not pass. Other than that, you do have to work hard to write a solid paper but he give great feedback during office hours and commends extra work.
I went to all his office hours and emailed him constantly. His feedback was useless. I've had an A in every English class I've ever taken until Green. No matter how hard I tried I got a C on every assignment. I finally got a B and because I was at a funeral (I had proof I was really at a funeral) and missed a peer edit he gave me a C again. AWFUL!
Green is a really good professor and the class taught me a lot about my own writing. But that being said, in order to get a good grade you definitely need to come to class, get your drafts done, participate especially during peer reviews, and use the peer reviews to your advantage.
Just avoid this professor at all costs. Dude doesn't know what he is talking about. Honestly feel like he just needs someone to talk to. Green sees a fault in everything everyone writes but says that he wants to give everyone a good grade. Its not that he is a tough grader, I just feel like he doesn't know how to grade.
not terrible but not great. I think his teaching style was just not a good match for me though. My level of stress went up walking into class because he randomly calls on people and will make you look really dumb if you don't give a really good answer. He never intentionally tried to make people look/feel bad but sometimes it still felt like it.
If English isn't your major, don't take him. I worked hard and got nothing. He asks for something original, yet complains if you don't see what he sees. He gives vague feedback and doesn't help. I took all my essays to three professors who said they were "A material" before turning them in. He gave me a C on each one with no good reason to do so.
took Mr green both semesters of freshman year and thought he was amazing! keeps lectures interesting and really cares about the students and remembers details about each. wish he taught more classes so that I could take him again, gives good feedback and made me a stronger writer
The man has no idea what he is talking about. He tries to make points that are original, but doing so just ends up regurgitating thoughts and ideas that are very common. The only two words hell give you for feedback are superfluous and focus. Ive never had an English teacher with such a limited vocabulary. Kinda makes you feel bad for the man.
Disappointed with the grade he gave. Did so much work and receive an unfair feedback.
Dr Green uses a 3 step torture approach via 3 essays. Sir Green loves implications; any mention sends Professor Green into an "A+" frenzy. The Master Overlord of the Seas might be a little nearsighted and Vice Chancellor Green often confuses students, but don't blame it on His Excellency; Lord and Savior Green XI Jr. Sr. simply forgot his glasses.
AVOID AVOID AVOID. DONT take his section of ENG106. You will do way more work than you will in any other ENG106 class. Not much of a complainer when it comes to work load, but this teacher just assigns so much unnecessary and time consuming crap. Only 50% essay grade is your final draft, the rest is intensive peer editing. Save yourself the trouble
Professor Green is very friendly and approachable. Attendance is mandatory, but his class is interesting. His essay process was sometimes annoying because much of the grade goes into outlines/annotations/peer reviews and his comments could be vague. However, I do believe he grades fairly and he loves giving extra credit on blackboard assignments.
Andrew Green is a very interesting and passionate teacher. His class requires you to read short stories and watch movies that are in very good taste. Class discussions are very engaging. Essays are a lot of work and require you to think abstractly and outside the box. I learned a lot about my writing as well as philosophy from this class.
you have to be super engaged in class and do the readings, but he makes class really interesting and fun!!
If you haven't gotten the idea from the other reviews, don't take this professor. ENG105 is taught by multiple professors and you can get someone who will give you the grade you deserve, not a grade much lower. Far too tough of a grader and doesn't give useful feedback at all.
He really is a good teacher just kind of gives boring assignments. You can tell he really loves English and his job... its just really hard. 11/10 for his attitude though! if you have the choice go for the nice old lady (I don't remember her name) for English for engineers
This guy gives homework as if his students are english majors. AT LEAST 2 hours a day on studying!! The amount of time you need to spend on his work is out of this world. If you like writing about life for two hours a day take his ENG 106... if not, then DO NOT take this course.
I honestly loved professor Green and his attitude toward teaching. This was the one class I looked forward to, and the class discussions were always engaging. He does grade essays quite hard, but you can tell he wants his students to succeed, so its important to email him or go to office hours if you're struggling with a paper.
Green is an amazing English teacher. If you've never been challenged in writing, you will now. You have to work for your grade and sometimes he has weird deadlines, but you will actually learn in his course. He grades tough, but also leaves a lot of room to prove your dedication to a paper and improve your grade. Don't wait till the last minute!
This teacher will literally sit there, grade your paper on his scale that makes zero sense, and then LOWER your score because your paper wasn't as good as it "could have been". Newsflash, things are not worse because they aren't better, that's just now how things work.
One of the best teachers I have ever had. He challenges you to think outside of the box and be better. Anyone who is on here complaining is truly just lazy. You may think that it is a time consuming class but when you actually finish the assignments it improves thinking and grows you as a person. And that's what college is supposed to be about.
Prof. Green is such a caring person and he genuinely wants to help you. Yes, there are a lot of assignments but theyre super interesting and thought provoking. His essays make you think a lot but the process makes you a better writer after the class. Definitely take him!
He really helps you improve your writing, meeting with him outside of class is really helpful. He really cares about his students' success and is willing to give you as much feedback as you need. He also values hardwork so try your best to exceed expectations. Also tries to make sure grade isn't based on big papers only, there are other assignments
Green will definitely make you work for a good grade but his class is totally worth it. You will come out of the class a better writer for sure. Just put effort in on the homework (which is easy), participate in class once in a while, and don't put off the essays til the night before and you'll do great. Best prof I've had so far.
You know how the current, in-use American flag was created for a school project and the student who made it received a B-? That teacher was probably similar to Professor Green. If you go to him for feedback, you can expect a lot of vague advice. Met with him on essays multiple times outside of class to revise and still got C's on them. Do not take
If you choose this course, work evry ngiht, paper every week, reading questions every week, please do not take his course!
Prof Green is a nice man. Although this is true, you will have to write 2 papers every week. I had class two times a week and got an assignment every class due for the next class. Not only do you have to write a lot, but you will have to watch long movies/TV shows and read long articles. Green being nice doesn't weigh out how much work you get.
Professor Green treats an intro english class like youre all english majors. Every single class has 1-3 hours of homework at least and there are huge papers every 1-2 weeks. If you take him be prepared to watch a lot of tv/movies and read a ton, as well as spend an hour + on focus questions for each text. Ridiculous amount of work for eng 106
I would say that I hated this class- but not because of Professor Green himself. He is a super nice guy and understanding and definitely keeps you engaged - but gives an ABSURD amount of work for an INTRO level class! I wouldn't recommend taking it as it was so time consuming and the stress isn't worth it.
Always out to get you if you were not his class pet. Sends too much homework. 5-10 hours a week. He thinks he is doing you a favor by sending movies for homework. Only class I ever did bad in. Do not take unless you are an english major.
Professor Green should not be a professor, he does not care, he is not intelligent, or even accessible to provide help to his students. Avoid at any cost. Such a shame that the University of Miami has this clown teaching English.
I graduated three years ago, I took his class in my first semester. I was just remembering the good and bad memories of my journey at the university. I just remembered the worst class I have attended to was this - You feel lost when you attend "Bored" - No grading citirea I would never take his class again "NEVER" Just wanted to help :D
Don't get me wrong - Andrew green is a nice professor and is always available when you need him. But, when it comes to the actual class, he is a terrible grader. He grades as if we are grad students and gives TONS of homework. He also gets mad when things are late - but never grades things on time. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF POSSIBLE!
Very unhelpful professor. I was an international student and I took his class when it was my first semester as such. I told him that I might need a little extra explanation and help from you, and he said, I will not give extra help. Nobody told you to come study in the States. Not recommended for international students.
The class is very participation heavy everyone has a voice in the class. This makes the classroom a lot less intimidating. Gives credit where credit is due and is flexible with deadlines always trying to encourage students to do what they feel will help them produce the best work. You will see improvement in your writing.
He sends so much hmw and papers, he takes an awful long time to grade anything, he expects us to behave like english majors even though everyone in the class is an engineering student. I would not recommend his course to anyone.
If you would like preserve your sanity please avoid taking this class. While classes can be entertaining and mostly discussion based, we are given extensive amounts of homework and readings to complete in usually a short period of time. Coupled with the other engineering classes it becomes extremely overwhelming.
Andrew Green is an amazing professor. I'm not sure why he has any bad ratings to begin with, but I am here to encourage you to take his class. At first, there were various annoying homework assignments, however, once you got those few over with, there were just 3 remaining papers for the semester. He is very nice and wants his students to succeed.
He's a very nice and funny guy. The only issues I have are that he hands out so many unnecessary homework assignments and a lot of busy work and gives such small time windows to work on them. It's like he forgets we have other classes and a life. He also takes forever to grade.
Going into the class, I was nervous because of his reviews but as long as you put in the work, you will be fine. He can tell if you spent a lot of time on your papers and if you haven't so don't write them in one night. He gives thorough feedback on essays and is available to meet and discuss them.
Treats a mandatory freshman year english course as if it is a masters course for prospective journalists or authors. Every other mandatory course has been taught by a chiller who let us know that it would be easy, but in this course you will have a 10-30 page reading every class with a mandatory response. All assignments due at 9pm day before class
Nice and funny guy who knows what he's talking about but maybe not the best professor. takes the class too seriously for a freshmen year writing class, clearly has favorites and grades a bit harshly. Would not retake the class but not a hard one to pass. get all the assignments done on time and participate to get a good grade in the class
BE CAREFUL, expects you to be on time when he cant even get your grades on time. totally not patient, had a personal issue going on and he did not help me at all, almost failed my assignment (that was 1 third of the final grade). So if you struggle with mental health and have family issues that can lead you to miss class, please dont take him!!!
His classes are definitely entertaining but he gives unnecessary amounts of work. Even though this is a freshman's course, he tries to turn it into an upper English class. If you want to keep your mental health in check, I would not recommend you take this class with this professor. P.S his feedback doesn't tend to be clear/helpful.
This class is no walk in the park - expect a heavy workload of homework, readings, and weekly papers. While the content can be engaging, the professor's grading and feedback are often vague. Using Unstuck study alongside the textbook may help manage the workload.
You definitely need to put a lot of effort into writing the essays in this course. There are many short assignments so one bad grade won't hurt you. He gives very thorough feedback for your rough drafts and many classes are spent improving your writing ability. He is a very nice teacher who has a lot of interesting stories to tell.
STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS
Literally the worst professor ever. He takes his job way too seriously and will not excuse late work or absence for anything. No matter if you are sick, dealing with personal or family issues, NOTHING. He grades so harshly even if you do the exact revisions he tells you to. The only English class I have ever gotten a B- on a paper. Do not recommend
For it being a required writing class he takes it very seriously. He assigns a lot of busy work and most of the time it's not graded. The bulk of the grade is from 3 papers. You also have to spend over $50 to buy movies/tv shows you need for the class. His writing process is lengthy and does not help.If you can put up nonsense you can get an A
This guy is impatient and gives absolutely no leeway when it comes to asking for extensions. Kind of rude too. Petty.
Some policies are annoying and there is some work that feels unimportant but overall he's pretty decent. Just go to class do the work it's not that hard.
Nice guy, but the homework is unnecessary and he makes us to give feedback on his students' papers for him.
Very condescending. If you don't think the way he expects you to, you get a bad grade. His lectures are very much “using big words to sound photosynthesis”. Take literally anyone else, because he will treat you like a 2 year old. He made me argue after class for my own paper in order to get an A because he didn't like my answer. RUN FAR AWAYYYYY!!!
Dude teaches like he has a gun pointed at his head. 0 leeway. I'd walk in every day and think to myself "here we go again" if he doesnt like you, you will not get an A.
Professor Green is one of my favorite teachers I've ever had. However, there is a lot of homework and 3 essays that are graded tough, so it is a lot of work to succeed in it. You will learn how to be a great writer.
This man does not like to cut you any slack whenever you think differently or creatively in a way that is not his own. If you miss a class past the first month, chances are that you are gonna lost 10% of your grade on that paper because they all matter for one reason or another. Stay away from this class, it is literal torture to step into.
He assigned so much work. Like why was a first year writing class harder than my core classes. It's doable but I really recommend taking anyone else if you can
he has very specific expectations on how he wants you to complete work. he favors certain students in the class and if you are not one of those you will not get the grade you want.
He is a bad teacher with lots of work, dropped out of his class within a week and best thing I have ever done. Lots of better professors who you will learn the same amount but it will be much easier. Tons of homework assignments that each took 2 plus hours.
Assignments and essay prompts are always so confusing. You have to write down exactly what he says in person in order to have a CHANCE of doing the assignment correctly or knowing when it was due. The discussions in class are lowkey fun and easy but other than that his class is just confusing.
Professor Green genuinely improved my writing skills. The course includes three major essays and regular homework, so it requires consistent effort. If you stay on top of the work, the class is manageable and rewarding. Bad reviews are those who don't show that they care about the class
