He was brand new when I took him and tried really hard to help us understand. He makes notes and they are crazy good, but are a bit. Wants to see you succeed, but it is an extremely hard topic. Goes on some tangents and homeworks are once a week, but are hard.
Most energetic professor I have ever had. Has an unbelievably genuine interest in the material. Very detailed notes to the point where you never have to read the textbook (still need it for some problems). Sometimes expects a little too much out of students. Grades tests and homework based off rest of class, so almost always curves. One of the best
Prof Henrick is one of the best professors I had in engineering. He explains material clearly. Very enthusiastic. Puts his detailed notes on blackboard(Only used the textbook for HW questions. Total waste of money!). Gives extra credit opportunities. Helpful.
expect too much in homeworks and tests. homework is unbelievably hard, too hard to do without wanting to drop out of school. Matlab is mandatory, he goes over it on the first day, and never again does he talk about it, but expects you to be a master at it. as a person, he is great, teacher, AWFUL
Great teacher, very enthusiastic about the class. Will meet with anyone outside of class. Genuinely cares about his students and makes sure that everyone is confident is about the material.
He is very enthusiastic during class which helps keep your attention. The subject is very hard, but he is always willing to help you outside of class. He is one of the best professors that I have had because he genuinely cares about his students.
Henrick's notes are hard to follow on your own. He does not solve sample problems in his notes so you have to go to class. He gives random pop quizzes. His enthusiasm for fluids is high but it is hard to understand what he is talking about some times. His tests are pretty straightforward compared to the very hard HW.
Very energetic professor. I thought he was awesome others did not like. The homeworks were challenging but very useful and he is mainly grading for completion. I would take him, but just attend class and pay attention. He has his own notes that I believe are very useful. Take him
Smart guy who is very passionate about what he is teaching. Sometimes blows through concepts that he thinks should be easy to understand but were quite difficult.
Henrick is a very enthusiastic teacher who really does want you to learn. He goes fast through the material and the homework is hard. But if you are willing to put in the work and effort, you will be successful. Go to his office hours!
Prof. Henrick is a very enthusiastic teacher at UD. He works very hard to see his students succeed and genuinely cares about his students. Fluids is a hard subject but he is always available to help out his students.
Very hard subject. He is a great teacher and makes you want to succeed. Yet, his homework is the hardest hw that you will have to do in MEE and his tests are difficult. But he is still a great teacher and tries his best to help you understand.
He's a great guy but an awful professor. He's probably a genius but he's impossible to follow. I feel like the material wouldn't have been as difficult as he made it out to be if his teaching style had a more linear and logical structure. Homeworks were extremely difficult and took forever. But, hand written equation sheets made exams EASY
He is one of the smartest individuals I have ever meet. He may be unclear at some points, but is an over all good teacher
Homework is difficult and takes a lot of time. He is a good person, but notes are taken fast and sometimes confusing. There is a lot of work put into the class, but he's generally a decent grader.
Hard to follow sometimes and talks rapidly. Very helpful outside of class. Assignments take time and effort but are usually within capabilities. Sets high expectations and grades fairly for amount and difficulty of work.
Henrick is a great teacher. His class is very difficult but he is very helpful. He has notes that he gives you that are more helpful than the book.
The class was very hard. Homework took forever and was often unclear. You have to talk to him outside of class to get a good grade. He is very helpful outside class, but the class requires a lot of work. He is a very generous grader. He gives a lot of partial credit.
Probably the most caring professor I have had. Very passionate about helping students learn, and extremely well versed in his field.Expects a lot from students, almost like a grad class.
This professor cares a lot about what he does and really wants his students to REALLY understand the material and not just skate through the class. This makes the class difficult, but if you put the time in it's doable. He is available to help even late into the evening and is always doing what he can to help you understand the materials.
Very enthusiastic about teaching and the material being taught. Makes the class very interesting.
Very enthusiastic about teaching and the class, makes the class interesting.
Invested in student success, quality not quantity in topics covered. Excellent professor
Dr Henrick was a great guy. He was very enthusiastic about teaching and about his students succeeding. Class was hard just because it was hard material, not reflective of his teaching. He was available frequently and would help you with individual problems on the side. Highly recommend him!
After being in fluid dynamics for a few weeks now, I am incredibly thankful I had Henrick for thermodynamics. He is very passionate about the material and the success of his students. There is never a boring moment with this guy. Tests were very, very tough, but he was always fair in grading and allowing for make-up opportunities. Highly recommend
Henrick loves the subjects he teaches he is a bit crazy sometimes but over all the class isnt too terrible he has online notes that can really help he is a great guy and really cares about his students you will learn alot I highly recommend taking him.
He is fun, will grab your attention, amazing quality kind of professor. But ,talk fast, hard tests, not easy to meet him for help and it was challenging class.
Great professor, very helpful, homework is based off of the text that he wrote, highly recommend
He is a little scatter brained sometimes but overall he was one of my favorite professor. The class is not easy by any sense of the term but you will learn a lot and he is a very fair grader.
hard but a very fair grader. very helpful if you go to office hours
Wants students to do well in his class, however he will go fast and talk over your head. Overall the class is difficult and requires a lot of effort.
Very enthusiastic about all of the material he teaches, and it helps make his rather difficult subject matter much easier to get through, and it really does make the class much more accessible.
The course material is challenging but interesting. Henrick moves pretty fast and expects very much of his students. It is often frustrating. But he is a very nice guy and extremely helpful and understanding.
Dr. Henrick is a good guy. He helps studentd as much as they need. He knows the material BUT sometimes he doesn't deliver it well. If you are looking for a challange, fun, and a great teacher.. take him!
Great person and great professor. His homeworks are hard but reflect what is on the test. He was my favorite professor at UD and changed a class that I was very nervous about into my favorite class of the semester.
Henrick was an average teacher. He gets way too excited in class to the point where it's overwhelming. Uses matlab when no one has taken the class. Homeworks are hard and he never has office hours that students can make. Class needs a TA
He gets far too excited about the material. I found thermo interesting but he took it to another level. His tests were very difficult but he curved them. Very smart/nice guy but very religious. Only engineering professor I've ever had that prayed before class...
Distracted, goes too fast in class and doesn't leave time for questions, class goes over the time limit every time, even if we don't get to the material in class he expects you to complete tests/homework on material he couldn't get to teaching. Never answers his e-mail, doesn't follow through on commitments to post solutions online.
The guy is really confusing and scatter brained. Homeworks don't really help when it comes to the tests. Tends to grade things easier so you end up with a better grade then you thought you would get.
Henrick is a great guy, but a bit confusing as a professor. He knows the material really well but needs to dumb it down a little. Teaches the class like it is a graduate class. Passable but a little stressful.
He is an awesome teacher. The class is tough and you will work very hard on the homework but you will know your stuff after you leave any of his classes.
He is very spastic but extremely interested in his material. He only gives about 5-6 homeworks but they take a week to do. His tests are straight forward but difficult. He tries to "dumb the material down" if we aren't getting it. It helps a lot if you take him for thermo first bc he references that a lot.
Great teacher. He is very helpful, and he really wants you to learn the material. His tests are pretty hard, but he is very fair.
Notes are from a file he created himself years ago. Very knowledgeable on the subject. Material in the class is difficult, but he is reasonable and realizes the material is difficult. If you are unhappy about a grade talk to him about it and he is very reasonable about it - he is worried about students learning the material ultimately.
Class is based of his notes that he wrote. All over the board when he teaches, hops topics what seems like every minute. Project instead of a final seems nice but its time consuming.
He will never end class on time or early, ever. He is very excited about the course material but it does not always help with his clarity, the more excited he gets the harder he becomes to understand. Towards the end of the semester he also lost his clarity and go on more rambling tangents that were not conducive to the course material.
Fluids was a very difficult course. He is very passionate about everything. Literally I haven't met anyone with more energy. He talks extremely fast and can be very confusing. Very limited office hours that are always packed with students from more than one course. He is a super nice person and if you get to know him he wants you to succeed.
Professor Henrick keeps his class entertaining with his enthusiasm. The class itself is very challenging and not on the most interesting subject, however he keeps things lively with videos, music playing while doing problems in groups, and simply being upbeat and excited to teach. He cares about students, starts class with a prayer. Awesome guy!!
He loves fluids, very passionate. He gets behind a lot because he takes the first 10 minutes of class reviewing the class before and then get rushed at end of semester. He will show us how to do something and then expect from that you know how to do something else which I can't figure out. He is bad about emails and office hours
The class starts off hard enough. Henrick throws even more material at you to expose you to as much as possible. This can get confusing as what exactly you need to know for the class. I came away from the class knowing a lot more than I expected. He wants to help you learn but sometimes struggles in doing so.
Extremely excited about his subject to the point of not understanding how any of his students could possibly NOT understand it. I retained nothing from that class and barely managed to bs my way through it. He is a great guy but his teaching skills have a LOT of room for improvement.
Good teacher. Sometimes I think he is too smart. Uses high level calculus and differential equations without explaining. His tests are really hard but he curves them. Incredibly Passionate, loves what he teaches.
Fluid Mechanics. He writes his own set of notes which is quite handy but confusing at times. He's an incredible person and truly wants the best for his students. If you want to see him sad, bomb a test. Uses MATLAB, which is just confusing in itself. Curves tests very nicely.
I have never been able to finish his tests in time. Usually has test corrections and curves. Takes the class a bit slower than others which makes some concepts easier.
Henrick is full of energy and enthusiasm. He starts every class with a prayer and is extremely passionate about his subject. He definitely challenges his students, but this is only to force them to understand the material. I feel like I am much more of a critical thinker because of his class.
Dr. Henrick is an awesome person and very helpful. The class is a lot of work, and is very difficult. He also provides a lot of energy which makes the class somewhat enjoyable.
Class he teaches are hard, but hes a good teacher
The class is a hard class no matter who you take. Henrick is a fair grader who wants his students to succeed. He is the best teacher for this class at UD. He is a nice guy that will help his students and always puts his students first
Dr. Henrick is a very genuinely nice person who wants you to understand the material and succeed in his class. If you put in a good effort and ask for help when you need it you should be fine in this class.
Excellent Professor
He is an amazing professor who truly cares about how his students do. His tests are pretty hard but he grades them pretty easy or lets you correct them for more points. It's hard material but he does a great job at explaining it. By far my favorite professor here. Take him if you can get in his class.
Tough class but Henrick is very fair in his grading and will give you credit as long as you are showing a good thought process. Always available for help outside of class. Does test corrections to help boost your grade and better understand the material. No textbook but he gives you his notes- extremely helpful
Dr. Henrick is a fantastic professor; he makes you work for your grade, but you come out of the class with a broad and deep knowledge of the material and a satisfaction that comes from putting in the work and knowing the grade you see is the grade you deserve. He is helpful when you seek him out, and if he has TAs, USE THEM.
Henrick is a very knowledge professor and has tons of enthusiasm. He knows the topic well and takes the time to draw out specific examples. Sometimes he will review the previous class which is nice, but then spends the last 10 minutes cramming information in that you need for the homework. Overall very nice teacher & very helpful in office hours.
Overall great teacher. Really knows the material and wants his students to learn.
Tests are hard but he will help outline it for you and give you strong examples. Come to class, he's very engaging and wants your to do well. Homework is tough, but he is a very good teacher.
Dr Henrick is a fantastic person. He is continually trying to improve and push himself and his students. That said, he is at times a little too advanced. He moves very fast during lectures and expects students to know a large amount of terms. His office hours are incredibly crowded, but he helps everyone. A challange, but by far the best proffessor
Great teacher, would definitely recommend to anyone who has to take this class.
Henrick is a great Prof, really cares for students. However the course is hard and his exams a the hardest I have ever taken. Not many people get done before the end of the period. However dont let that stop you fromtaking one of his classes
Dr. Henrick is an excellent professor and his lectures are intriguing. Skipping class is not beneficial because you will miss-out on important information that will be helpful for homework and test. Homework is can be difficult, but helpful for your learning because it makes you critically think. If confused go ask to office hours and ask Q's.
He is a fantastic teacher. He is tough but gives you cheat sheets on tests. And makes his tests similar to the homework. You have to try not to do well in his class
He is passionate and caring. He will demand that you work but it is more than worth it.
Very motivated teacher who loves to help and assist students, I plan on taking him in the future. Excellent person and knows his stuff
Thermodynamics was a difficult topic. Henrick was very passionate about it and wants everyone to succeed. He made himself available to answer any questions. Tests are hard to finish in time but he helps you out with his grading. Homeworks take a while. He grades them for effort and drops one.
Henrick is a really great guy, but I feel as if he teaches to a select few students, and not the class as a whole. He lecture very quickly and in my opinion he expected us to learn the material too quickly. Tests were very difficult. Still overall he is a very nice guy, I just did not enjoy the class.
Dr Henrick is the best teacher I have ever had. He cares more about his students learning the material than anything else and has the most office hoursavailability than any other teacher I have had. His tests are difficult but fair. One of my favorite things about his class was his emphasis on real world applications. Take Henrick at all costs
Grades harshly. Isn't much help during office hours. Does not help you catch up if you miss class "It's your problem". Students and job used to most important thing to him, but he just had a baby, so he doesn't really care anymore. Not helpful during office hours. Tests are really hard, but he lets you have a cheat sheet. I wouldn't recommend him.
Dr. Henrick is helpful if you ask for help in his office hours, but can be confusing to follow in class and the project for this course was hard, confusing, and very time consuming. Other than that he is a great guy and wants everyone to succeed and ultimately learn something in this course.
Dr Henrick is very passionate for what he does, be prepared to work your tail off. Class usually lets out between 5-8 minutes after time, have fun making your next class on time. He is usually pretty clear during lectures and with explanations, if you don't understand anything go into office hours, he is super willing to help and work with you
He is an awesome teacher. He loves what he teaches. He made me love Thermodynamic regardless of this material is kind of challenging. Simply, you have to study in order to learn.
Henrick's teaching has seriously declined this semester after having a baby. He's not supportive of students, makes tests & hw too hard and long. He's not much help in office hours, and will definitely make you feel like a complete idiot. Expect to stay a full 7 minutes after class and teach yourself most of the material. Do NOT take Henrick.
I have had Dr Henrick twice now and he obviously passionately cares about the success of his students, but he can be unorganized and lose track of time during his lectures. The late portion of the semester suffers for it because you rush through massive amounts of material in a few weeks. I like Dr Henrick and would take him again.
Professor Henrick is not easy, but he does want you to succeed. Unlike a lot of professors, he is very interested in the class learning the material to the best of their ability, and not so much about the grade. He is helpful if you talk to him face to face, but he does not really answer emails, so be ready to make time to go to office hours.
Henrick is a good guy, one of the nicer ones in the department, however he teaches tough classes. His lectures always go 5 min after the end of class, and are hard to follow. His tests are tough and his projects are impossible. Homework is challenging too. Work for it and he is usually fair. He can be entertaining in class, and he really does care.
what can I say man am an international student and this class was the best that I have taken so far ,God bless this man a very good guy who loves teaching THERMODYNAMICS so be ready to man up and learn the material stay focus in the lecture and you will be good
He is one of the smartest professors in the Mechanical Engineering department, and yet he is so very kind and willing to take the time to help any student who asks, even students who he remembers that took the class several semesters ago.
Great professor. Tough class but made it bearable. Would def. take him again. Expect a very long project for the final, no final test. Only 2 tests.
Awesome professor!! Not any easy class but very informational and inspirational. It intrigued my interest in an inspiring way in my introduction to Thermodynamics. Text book is not required and that my friend is a $230 bonus
He is a very nice guy, but seems like he has too much on his plate. He seems to care more about his research than helping his students. I wish I did not take him for fluids because I had to learn fluids on the internet rather through class. And if you don't understand/like his teaching style, good luck because he wrote the notes you use for class
Professor Henrick made thermo such a fun class. He has pop quizzes, but their not that hard. He is always willing to help you during office hours. The tests are tricky, but if you study hard you will get through it. Also, he is an incredible professor, but makes you work for your grade.
His class is challenging but you leave knowing what you need to know to be successful. He is easy to approach if you have questions. He gives multiple extra credit chances and is always willing to help. One written test, one oral exam, and the final make up the vast majority of your grade.
I couldn't tell if I enjoyed his class or not. He really cared about the subject he was teaching and got very enthusiastic, but I felt as if things didn't always click during lecture. He requires that you use MatLab for many of the problems. Homework, test 1, oral test 2, and the final all have a 25% weight. He called us his padawan learners.
Professor Henrick is one of my favorite professors. He really wanted his students to succeed in class and did a good job explaining a difficult subject. His homework was hard but doable (couple hours/week). His tests were not too bad if you followed the lectures and notes. Not easy A, but possible. Enthusiastic and you can learn a lot from him.
Never uses the textbook despite putting down that you need to go one. Extremely hard grader. Lectures are long, fast, confusing and boring. Barely has any office hours time so good luck meeting with him. Not doing well? He'll become very condescending since you can't follow his "great" teaching. Don't know why he's highly ranked. Awful professor.
Class consists of two tests and a final project (no final test). This class is frustrating, unorganized, and you probably will fall behind in learning the material with respect to other sections of MEE308 that isn't taught by Henrick, which in my opinion is the worst part. He isn't terrible but not the best either.
This class showed me what it really takes to be an engineering student, and spurred my interest in the world of thermodynamics. You will study more than you ever have. Homework is difficult, but doable with help form Ta's or office hours. If you want to become the best engineer you can be, this is the place to start.
This man is so incredibly intelligent that it screws everybody over, including himself. Has a high standard and makes projects and tests very difficult, then he stresses when everybody starts failing. His class is so lost that his office hours require an entire classroom, and even then you'll wait about an hour to get one question answered.
Henrick is really smart and sometimes expects that his students know much more than they do. This leads to him often making you feel pretty stupid. The lectures are pretty hard to follow and homework is difficult. First test was extremely hard, many failed. second test was a 1 on 1 meeting with him and was much easier. I wouldn't recommend Henrick
Great professor who presents the material clearly and cares about the student's success. He asks a lot of students and doesn't seem to care if you have other responsibilities or classes.
Dr. Henrick is very smart and has very high expectations. If you want to get a lot out of a class you should take him. He is always willing to help during his office hours and wants you to succeed. If you are trying to do the minimum amount of work to get by you will not do well in this class.
Quite possibly the worst professor I have ever had in my three years of college. His lectures always ran long and weren't helpful which made the homework very difficult. You will never get a homework assignment back which means you don't get any feedback. DO NOT take him if you don't have to. He comes off as a nice person but is a horrible prof.
If you put in the work, Dr. Henrick will work with you. He wants you to succeed, but will not just give you the grade without proving you know what you are doing. He teaches tough subjects, but really cares about his students, mentally and physically.
