One of the coolest teachers, and not even a full professor yet! Could answer any question and always knew the answer, lectures very organized and clear, a class I looked forward to, and he was very amusing
What a helpful teacher! He goes out of his way to help you. I mean, you have to do your end of the work, but he will help you in any way that he can. I would totally recommend Mr. Hill.
One of the best teachers at CUA. His classes are easy and he makes himself available. He offered to meet on weekends at school, and gives extentions to anybody for most reasons. His knowledge is also broad and deep. The best.
Mr. Hill is one of the best lecturers that I've known. His lectures are very clear and interesting. He is very helpful and friendly and approachable.
Lectures are clear as day and always takes time to answer any questions. Tries to incorporate every method of learning possible. Is more than willing to meet on weekends or nights to tutor, and was wonderful in helping outline papers. Best teacher ever.
Best teacher I've had at CUA
best teacher ever! his lectures are very understandable and easy to follow, will go well out of his way to make sure you understand the topic, very funny too, highly recommended
Very clear, funny, and fun. Makes a lot of pop culture references. Tells you to read, but he explains the reading the next class. There is usually 1 quiz per week and half the time there will be a question on the reading. But Sparknotes solves the issue.

Mr. Hill is a great professor. class isn't hard as long as u show up & answer a question or 2. He focuses alot on the text, yet he explains everything very clearly so that makes it easy. only 3 papers where 2 are only like 2 pages long doubled space. a few pop quizzes but if u read the follow up questions its cake. only 2 exams and he's hilarious
It is a rarity to encounter Philosophy professors who are both unpretentious and extraordinarily clear. Prof. Hill was both. His lectures are edifying and clear, while engaging the students and promoting discussion. He caters to the average student at times, but is still always insightful. Great sense of humor.
favors active participation over passive, which is just not everyones learning style. other than that he was fine
Professor Hill is one of the best teachers I have every had. I am not a wiz at philosophy, but he made me understand everything and made me think deeper than I ever have. I see education and the world very differently and feel enlightened because of him! Grades pretty hard on the paper, but easily other than that. Take him!!!!
Professor Hill is a great philosophy professor! He keeps your attention by explaining all arguements in an organized and concise manner. He is a tough grader on exams and the two big papers but you can make up for that on the easy pop quizzes. He is always available to help during his office hours. Take Hill!
Likes to lead most discussions. Has three papers. Extremely hard grader on papers. Way to nitpicky. Sort of awkward but a really fun guy to have as a professor. Kept the topics interesting even though there wasn't much group discussion. I don't know that I would take him again. The tests are pretty straight forward.
Insanely strict about tardies and attendances. If your IQ is average to below average, this is the class for you. You might even be tricked into thinking his banal pop-philosophy lessons are deep thinking. If you are intelligent, you will hate every second of your mandatory presence in the class. Hypocritical, nitpicky, and secretly arrogant.
Incredibly strict about attending class. 3 papers, one of them was a 6 page paper. A midterm and final, random reading quizzes also. Class can get boring but he tries his best to make a boring subject a bit more exciting.
Seemed to expect too much out of a mandatory class needed to graduate. Many times it seemed like he thought we were philosophy majors, and would grade papers very harshly. He knows what he teaches very well, and reviews it well also, sometimes he gets too into the class. Tests are alright just have to explain everything very well to get a good grade
Such a good teacher! Explains the topic in an easy to understand way. Conducts good class conversation. Has a quirky sense of humor. Grades are fair, but he is tough on grammar. Reading quizzes now and then, but answers are always on blackboard. Teaches you how to be a great writer! Loved the class!
Hill was an interesting teacher, but definitely had his ways. Went to his office hours 3 different times for one paper and he still only gave me a B. Tough grader, and good luck making an A on the midterm and final. I knew the material back and forth and still couldn't crack an A. Very big on participation and attendance.
Prof. Hill is a tad self-righteous. Additionally, do not expect a good grade if he disagrees with your point of view or finds your personality unappealing. Going into his final, I had an A/B for the course and by the end of the final I somehow had a C (even though I used Phil material/theories from both inside the class as well as other courses).
Not a bad class. Three papers but he basically writes one of them in class for you. Only a Midterm and a final and then about 10-15 pop quizzes from the readings. really nice, just read. Really big on participate.
I truly dislike philosophy but Professor Hill taught in a way that was very interesting and engaging. He used everyday examples to help his class understand the philosophical concepts. His class helped me actually enjoy learning philosophy! Definitely take him for theory of knowledge!
Andrew Hill is the man. Take him for Phil 290. Class is: 5 or 6 multiple choice quizzes (easy), 2 short papers, a midterm, a final, and participation.... It might sound like a lot, but it really isnt. I didnt do any of the readings = all on sparknotes. He actually makes PHIL bearable and interesting. I would recommend him because he is easy and fun
Made class extremely interesting while explaining the reading. Random quizzes every few classes to prove you did the reading. However, these won't hurt your grade terribly. Must pay attention in class in order to do well on tests.
I guess he used to be a philosophy professor, but now he teaches math. BEST professor I've had so far. Super easy, but you still learn. You have to go out of your way to get bad grade in the course. Very nice and funny guy. Take his class!
This class is so interesting so far. I was expecting the theory of knowledge class to be really confusing, but professor Hill does a great job of explaining the reading assignments. He is also very funny!
Professor Hill was one of the best professors that I had at Xavier. His lectures were very clear and he was always available for help.
Overall ok professor. I think his attendance policy is ridiculous. I missed 5 classes and at the end of the semester he took 4 points off of my final grade. I went from an A to a B+ because I missed class. It's not high school anymore and if you want a college professor and not a high school teacher then don't take Andrew Hill.
He's a beast. Chill guy. Fair grader on papers and exams. Quizzes are easy. Very good guy.
I would absolutely take this professor again. He was just awesome in every way. I learned a lot without having late nights studying and grinding away on material. I got a good grade with minimal effort. I loved going to class because he made it so interesting. Not a single negative to him except he takes attendance (he allows you to miss a few).
I have had the wonderful privilege of having Prof. Hill on two occasions during my time at Xavier. He is probably my favorite professor on campus. He makes lame little jokes, which I find hilarious, but it might not be your cup of tea. He made things easy to understand in both classes I had with him. Simply put, Andrew Hill is a living legend
I really enjoyed his class. I recommend his office hours a lot. I've gone to his office for every paper and I've got 100 on all of them. Participation is huge like 15% (same as midterm huge, so at least try). He is really easy to talk to and a Whovian.
Ok teacher
Loved this professor! In order to do well in the class you should do the assigned readings and look at the questions before every class because there are pop quizzes! The papers are not bad because he tells you exactly what he wants. Participation is extremely important because it is 15% of your grade, don't be afraid to speak up!
He is generally a philosophy professor, but this was his first year teaching Physics lab. He was very nice and knew what he was talking about, but I was confused many times doing the labs as did not give much clarification. Tough grader on lab reports, but tests aren't too bad. With hard work- a good grade is possible.
Prof. Hill takes his time with the material, and there are no surprises on his tests, but this isn't your high school math class. Participation isn't a requirement. He teaches "bell-to-bell", a little old-fashioned. You will need to buy your homework access code, but don't bother getting the textbook for this course. Do all the homework, period.
I take a fundamental math class, so a lot of the work is already easy. But he is able to take it step by step and does an awesome job at making sure everyone understands what is happening. And is overall a great teacher. He is nice and funny and is very understanding so I recommend taking him as a teacher.
As long as you pay attention during class and ask questions if you need to, you will do well. There are about 12 homeworks over the semester and he only counts your top 10. He gives a pretty detailed study guide before the tests so you know what to expect. Overall, easy class if you need a science credit.
By far the best professor I have had so far at Xavier. Truly cares about the success of his students, has very realistic expectations, and is easy to contact and to meet with outside of class. Explains things in detail and makes lots of jokes, always optimistic. I strongly encourage participating, even though he doesnt force you to.
Gives kind of alot of excel projects but they help your grade, attendance is not mandatory but should attend to understand material
Professor Hill was always very prepared for class and when I had some online issues he worked with me to get them fixed. The class itself was a new format, and I think he did a good job adjusting to teach it. Overall, it was a generally good class as long as you keep up on the excel assignments and the weekly homework.
I found the class very easy and straightforward. Tests are a combination of concepts and calculations, and usually have a bonus section! He really appreciates participation, but not always too exciting.
Good professor, always trys to have a good time in class
As long as you go to class... take good notes... and simply listen to the information and his lectures... its impossible to not get an A!!!
I'm usually bad at math, but he explains the concepts incredibly well, so I did very well in this class. He is super nice and brings a lot of humor to the class. He has a very good attitude and makes math the least boring it can be. He gives you a detailed study guide the week before the tests and gives extra credit opportunities. Highly recommend!
Andrew is such a good professor that I have opted to take him for three different courses at Xavier- One physics class and two math classes. I can not emphasize enough how great he is and how much I have learned from the courses he taught. Homework and test load is pretty standard, and he is always willing to answer questions and work with students
Professor Hill is AWESOME!! As easy as this class was, because it was mainly review for myself, I really enjoyed his class. He is funny and keeps the class entertained by telling funny jokes or his random outbursts of singing. He knows how to teach the subject material in a way that you fully understand why everything is happening in a math problem
Great teacher, always listens and looks into questions he doesn't have the answer for. Goes over the homework for the next week at the beginning of class and makes sure students understand the material and not just memorization.
Professor Hill was an amazing prof for Math 105. He always came to class and enthusiastically taught the information well. The amount of work outside of class was very doable. He prepares you very well for the tests given.
hes a cool guy great for fundamentals of math
Professor Hill is a breath of fresh air when it comes to calculus teachers. His lectures are to the point and his explanation of concepts is very clear. Homework is very manageable and the tests are very fair. Lots of availability outside of the classroom to help students with questions. Would highly recommend.
Professor Hill was really clear and direct in regards to what would be on test. His study guide's were a direct representation of what would be on the test. Most of his lectures were spent helping students work through anything they were confused on. Highly recommend!
Sweetest guy you will ever meet but here's the catch. If you don't show up to class you will not understand the material , attendance is graded and therefore is mandatory. HIS REVIEW GUIDES FOR TESTS ARE AWFUL! His test make up a majority of your grade but how do you know what to study if there are no example problems.
Okay so overall not a bad guy But I absolutely failed the test because the review guide were awful I wish he would have done more to review for test Definitely would have done better
Without a doubt the best math teacher Ive ever had
Definitely one of the best, if not the best, math professor I have ever had. He explains everything so clearly and is very comical throughout class, which makes it even more enjoyable! I 100% recommend taking him for any math class if possible, you will learn a lot and succeed if you put in the effort.
Andrew is a very humorous and kind man. One of the best math teachers I have ever had. Math is my least favorite subject, but he made it manageable. He provides good resources and if you work hard, you can easily do well in this class. Highly recommend.
Hes a great guy and a great teacher. Attendance isnt mandatory, but if you skip once youll have no idea whats going on. Hes clear on how to solve problems and he always makes sure that students questions are answered.
He makes hard concepts easy to understand!
He is an awesome professor and super nice. He is a great teacher and very clear in what he is teaching
Professor Hill does a very good job with lectures and always encourages class participation. He is very kind to the students and funny. If you participate and pay attention in class, you will find his class to be relatively easy, he does give homework every day, but it is always doable amounts. All in all I would recommend taking his course!
Professor Hill does a good job at explaining concepts and applying them to the real world. I feel like I have a really solid foundation to go on to other math classes. Ample extra credit opportunities.
Prof. Hill is a good professor. He is very laid back and funny. He is a genuinely good person and wants his students to do well. His lectures are helpful because he relates them to real life scenarios that can actually help us in the future. His study guides didn't help me much, but he does make them. I would probably take his class again.
Mr. Hill was an absolute ICON in the class. He gave real world examples and let us participate with the lectures to make it more interesting so that everyone can understand. I will never forget this blessing in disguise of a professor for as long as I live. If you take this course at Xavier, you should take him. I gaurentee you'll have a great time
Professor Hill was overall a pretty good professor. He was very kind, and always willing to help when you did not understand. Homework was all online and there was an excel project for every chapter. Tests and quizzes as well. I recommend taking his class, it was not stressful at all.
Prof. Hill was absolutely AMAZING! I had his class Tuesday/Thursday from 11:30-12:45. He "cancelled" class on Tuesdays, and class on Thursdays never lasted more than 45 minutes. He was super nice, super chill. He didn't really give much "teaching" but he was always there if you had a question. He obviously cared about what he was teaching.
The lectures were once a week due to covid and I don't think they were helpful. There were video lectures posted as well. He would do simple examples in class and when you got to the test/homework you would be confused since they were toughed.
Professor Hill is great! He is very personable and cares for his students. He is a harsh essay grader but gives insightful feedback and you can improve if you are willing to put in the work.
I really appreciated having Dr. Hill as a professor in Phil 200. He made the lectures entertaining and interactive, fostered lots of class discussion, and obviously cared about his students. He is a funny and kind professor that made Philosophy actually interesting. While it isn't the easiest class, it was definitely doable and enjoyable.
Dr. Hill is great! He provides many different philosophical perspectives and lets you decide for your self which one you agree with the most. I think this is the optimal way to teach a class, encouraging critical thinking. I learned a lot from this class. It is a low stress class. The readings can be difficult, but he always explains them well.
Professor Hill was very helpful and provided lots of examples in class which helped to understand material.
Was very easy going and was easy to ask for help.
Professor Hill is very easy going and laid back. Willing to offer help and give feedback. Im not a math person but his class was super easy and I looked forward to it.
Great professor. Goes over the information very well. Also helps with homework.
Very funny guy. Looked forward to going to class every day. Very good at teaching the material too. Great Class
Everyone should take him. If i could go back in time and skip all my math classes and only have him for a teacher I would! He was amazing, funny, offered lots of bonus points and was very willing to answer questions and clarify.
Great math professor!! If you struggle with math like I do, this is a great professor to take. He takes time to make sure you understand the homework and is very clear about what will be on tests.
Very clear math explinations and made math easy. 10/10 would reccomend. Class is kinda boring but is very easy and Professor Hill is a great person, over explains easy concepts to make sure everyone gets it, and is always willing to help!
Great teacher, helpful outside of class too always answered emails fast. Take this class, with minimal stress!!
Great lectures, explains everything very clearly. Has study guides for tests and allows extra point on them. Always answers questions and overall very helpful. Makes class low stress.
Prof. Hill is an extremely kind person who always helps his students. He is very passionate about teaching math, and that reflects in the amazing lectures he gives. He is very good at explaining things and is always willing to elaborate if a student asks. He's a really cool teacher who truly wants the best for his students.
Prof Hill is an easy going guy. Class isn't too difficult, just show up for lectures and do the homework assignments and you'll do great
He was an easy-going professor; I highly recommend taking him.
Professor Hill is the man! He is so funny. I think that he is so easy to talk to and makes it easy to learn.
Professor Hill is by far the best math teacher I have ever had. He explains every unit very clearly and is always open if you have a question. His office hours are great and he is very good with communication. He responds to emails quickly. He is also very caring for his students. He would make sure to reach out if you've missed a few classes.
Literally the best professor i have ever had. So so so funny and makes coming to class worth it.
Professor Hill has a way of teaching where what he is teaching is easy to learn and he is very helpful when you ask him questions. I would recommend him.
The course was very very easy. He's fine, nothing special but he likes to explain everything in a stupid way other than just doing the math. He is also insistent on memorizing definitions for tests, and if you don't get them exactly right he takes points off.
He gives 3 huge tests, one of them being final. Lowest test grade is only 10% while others are weighted higher. Long, extensive homework in his class but it is helpful for concepts. Tests have a ton of extra credit and are overall pretty simple. Great teacher who cares about his students and using math in the real world.
Professor Hill is one of the amazing teachers that i had in a long time. His lectures was amazing and he is wonderful on how break down for people to understand.
Professor Hill, although not the best professor I've ever had, is not bad. If you are good at math then taking him for Calc is a good idea. If you are not good at Math, I would not take him because he can sometimes be hard to follow. His office hours were unfortunately of very little help as well, and I had to teach myself in order to pass.
He is a weird guy but he is nice. Classes were so boring, but the tests were easy.
Teaching was fantastic, made physics enjoyable for me. Understood it much better than I did in high school. Very good at explaining the material in a way that anyone could understand it and was very good about taking and answering questions.
Helpful and clear in grading and lectures. Open-minded and willing to listen to students' opinion. Also give lots of opportunities to ask questions
Homework and lecture heavy, but the lectures were very straightforward, and the homework was easy. Hill was very accommodating and friendly throughout the semester as well.
He was fun to have and gave all the information we needed to complete the class well.
Professor Hill explains each topic in such a nice manner. Easy to take notes and follow. Very caring and stops to ask for questions. He also likes relating math to the real world which makes it all the more interesting for me. There will be homework every night, but it helps reinforce the topic in class for that day. Best math professor!
Great at explaining the content, very caring to students. Nice, relaxed class, def recommend if you can! Homework is not too heavy and few tests.
Professor Hill was fantastic, and I mean that as someone who SUCKS at math. Very caring, I had a concussion midway through the semester and he was very proactive about helping me find times to reschedule to make up an exam. He gives homework every night, but honestly it helps bring your grade up. He's a quirky dude but he tries to connect with us.
Professor Hill was my favorite professor. He makes class fun and cares about his students. He does not want his students to fail and makes that clear. He is very helpful if you're willing to ask. Class is lecture heavy but if you pay attention and study the tests are a breeze!
Professor Hill is an engaging lecturer who makes concepts easy to grasp. The grading is fair, with tests that offer extra credit. unstuckstudy was a game-changer for exam prep. Overall, a low-stress class with a helpful, approachable professor.
Andrew really cares about his students and wants each and every one to succeed.
Had a very good and stress free class. Explains the material very well and has in-class activities that helps you learn the material.
If you take notes, do the homework and meet with him outside of class, you will do well on the exams. He does care about making things easier for students, but you have to participate.
Dr. Hill was very clear in his teaching and made concepts easy to understand. He is very good at explaining the material and the packets he provides are really helpful. If you take notes and review to examples from class you will do well.
Professor Hill is amazing. He actually cares and makes sure everyone understands the material. I HIGHLEY recommend taking this class for your math credits.
Great Professor
As someone who struggles A LOT in math, I was very scared of this class. However, Dr. Hill made me feel very comfortable throughout the semester. He really wants you to succeed and tries his best to make sure everyone understands the topics. There's only homeworks and exams in the class, so make sure you study a lot. Hard class, amazing professor.
Great teacher and great guy.
Prof. Hill is wonderful and so fun to take. His lectures are clear and he is always happy to help when you have questions. The class is really only graded through homework and tests, but you have 3 attempts for each homework problem, and there's always 5-10% of extra credit on tests. He's super understanding and really easy to reach when needed.
The class was pretty easy overall. It was a lot of review form high school and we mainly went over different functions. There were two tests and a final and I thought he was clear on teaching and the exams were fairly easy.
