Andrew is great! I have him for an 8 week Saturday class for both AMHs and it's fun. He tries to make it interesting, he gives lots of breaks, and be prepared to write! There is a midterm and a final exam (essay), a reading quiz (read your online material),a presentation, and a paper. He does not beleive in Multiple Choice which is wonderful! = )

He made it interesting. I think he was fair and I enjoyed his class. I plan to take him again.

It was a lot of work, but he will give you an A if you put in the effort. Usually it was interesting, but the reading was too much.

I had him last fall and learned a lot. Sometimes his lectures are a little long winded, but for the most part they were very interesting. The exams are essay format so you really have to study and keep up with the readings, but he is a very fair grader.

Loved his class. I took 2020 first, but he reawakened my interest in History. I changed my major before the term was out. I then took 2010 with him. I missed some classes due to medical reasons but was able to keep up due to his keeping up with my emails. 7 hours is long but sometimes I wished it wouldn't end. I hope to see him at UNF.

Fun class, tests are tough but he gives you a review sheet. Gives lots of extra credit including a field trip to Kingsley Plantation.

He is great. I loved this class. I took it at night so there were older people in it, but it was very conversational. He likes when you take part in the class discussion. Even if you just blurt out random thoughts sometimes, anything goes.

AWESOME PROFESSOR! I took his class on line through Santa Fe. Even as an on-line class he was extremely helpful, encouraging, quickly answered emails, etc. He must be GREAT in a live class. Two papers, two exams and weekly discussion posts due...nothing overwhelming.

Fascinating class... wouldn't call it an easy A, took a little work but his lectures kept it interesting and informative which helped with the tests. Likes class participation. Knows his stuff.

His lectures can be pretty boring, but he is very helpful and very clear. He knows what he's talking about and likes it when you participate. He has two major papers, five quizzes (he picks the four best scores and averages them), and two exams. It is not a difficult class at all, you just need to be motivated for an A.

Prof. Holt is the BEST! His class is lecture based. He would like you to read the chapters, ( I would if you want to sound like you know what you're talking about.) but unless you have a quiz you don't really need to. He an outstanding teacher. Quizzes;easy! Mid and Final; medium! (They are essay's from your knowledge)Easy grader! Take his class!

best class ever. holt is a great teacher, and he usually let my class out like twenty minutes early. while he is kinda addicted to his ppt, he knows what he is talking about. easy A, if you put in the effort. he likes people that try, and he is totally willing to help you however he can. take the class.

GREAT teacher! if you do the work you should get an A easily in his class. He basically tells you whats gonna be on his tests and quizzes. Most of the quizzes are take home, and the tests he gives you 3 essay questions on the study guide and says he will pick one on test day . Easy to work with wants you to succeed! Highly Recommended!

This proffesor was one of the best i ever had. You will recieve an A if your willing to try. He loves teaching and enjoys if you show intrest. I passed with an A and no nothing about History at all. I could never have done this if prof. Holt dident help me out. Highly recommened him

easiest class ever. he tells you the exact question on the quizzes then drops the lowest quiz grade. He tells you to read the text but if you just listen to what he says you'll do fine. i have taken no notes and still get an A. same for AMH 2010

Amazing proffesor, very cool class. Great presenter his lectures are very interesting and you can tell he loves his history. 6 quezes he tells you what will be on all of them, 2 tests tells you the questions. 1 paper gives 3 weeks to write

this class was okay. he gives you what is going to be on the wuiz, which is a 2 page paper. there is no homework. and 2 papers and 2 exams. his study guide is 3 questions and he will pick one to write a 4-5 page paper for the exam and midterm. kind of boring but i took it 1 day a week for 3hrs. i def reccomend him!

He is about as good as it gets for history. I've always hated history but he does a fntastic job making it enjoyable. I've learned so much in this class. There are 4 tests (final's not accumulative) and one essay. If you go to class and listen to his lectures this class should be a breeze. I highly reccommend him.

Great teacher. His class consists of only powerpoints with lecture so if you attend everyday you will pass his tests easily.

If you have half a brain, you'll pass his course with an A, no problem. Each day he goes through the powerpoints and lectures. Pay attention and study before the test. He gives you the key terms and possible essay questions before hand. He's very helpful and passionate about his job. Had him for humanities & history and he's one of my favorites!

SUPER nice guy, but I wouldn't call it a cakewalk. Tests are 60% essay, so there's definitely a certain standard he expects you to meet. However, if you're having difficulty, he's willing to help if you GO TO HIS OFFICE AND ASK. Lectures are entertaining and even if you miss one the Power Points are all on Blackboard. Great class, loved it!

professor holt was extremely nice and the test are easy. theres no way to fail this class if you attend and listen to his lectures. he was really fun and keeps you interested.DEFINITELY TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!!!

I absolutely loved his class. He always had fun games like jeopardy before a test and always made things really fun. We had a field trip to Kingsley Plantation that was really interesting and helped me to understand some topics in his class better. I got a 110% in his class. So easy if you come to class

I typically hate history, but Holt makes it interesting and alive. Attendance does factor in to participation grade. There is a test on material every 3 weeks and one paper. He gives out study guides and helps as much as you need/want. We cover a lot of material, but I would definitely say his class is worth it. Always has extra credit too.

Very good professor. Used powerpoint in every class. He gave out study guides before each test, which was very helpful. He definitely knows his history and he is a very nice guy.

Awesome professor. I took the online class. He was the most helpful teacher I have had since enrolling. Looking back, it was a lot of work, but it did not feel like it when I was doing it. He did audio lectures that really helped me to understand the material. He is worth it. I wish there were more like him. I definitely would take his class again

He's a great professor that makes history interesting. The class was lectures with power points provided, 4 tests with study guides, and a 4-5 page paper. The class will be a breeze if you attend the lectures. I missed quite a bit of days and still made an A but I put more effort into studying than usual. If you attend regularly, you should be fine

Only three bad reviews on this entire site in regards to Prof Holt, and the three which gave such bad reviews are obviously bad students who have no idea what they are talking about. History class cant get any easier than this guys.Trust me.

This is the second time I have taken Professor Holt, once on campus and this one online. The 8 week course is jammed packed and you HAVE to keep up with everything, but he gives you every chance to do well. I am a history major and Learning from an actual published historian was awesome. TAKE HIM!

I highly suggest Prof. Holt. He is always available and has helpful advice. He wants you to enjoy history and is very clear about the class agenda. You have to do the work, but it is worth it.

He loves his job and it makes the learning process so much nicer. He is super helpful, giving you lots of avenues to keep in contact with him. His class is not difficult but it is a lot of work if you do the shortened semester. I would take another class with him in a heartbeat. He tries to involve lots of different learning styles which helps.

Excellent professor.Highly knowledgeable about what he teaches. Currently in his shortened 7 week course so the reading/workload is pretty heavy. His class is 100% lecture based. The lectures are very interesting if you love or want to learn about history (I do). I hope I can take another class with him in the future, would recommend him to anyone.

I loved Professor Holt, however, this was a tough class.If you are good at memorizing then you will do amazing in this class. I studied my butt off and got my first B in college.

This class was a lot of work, but you can easily get a good grade. Each week you have one or two lectures to listen to that are an hour long along with a Powerpoint. Post to 5 different topics on Blackboard. A few quizzes that may require a paper or 2 pages or 30 multiple questions. He grades pretty fast. I'd recommend to anyone to take course

This class was work but very easy. The only thing I had an issue with was the last essay, it was boring and I had almost no motivation to do it. Got it done thought. Anyway easy class just do the work.

Holt is a superb teacher! I took him for both US history classes. Two tests, one paper, 5 quizzes. Homework is online but if you read the book everything is easy. He only focuses on the stuff you need and he keeps you engaged. Holt is a really cool guy and I would recommend him to anyone, especially big history nerds. You won't regret taking him.

Class is 8 weeks long and you have an essay quiz each week (2 pages). Each week post to the discussion board (minimum of 5 postings) and listen to lecture podcasts. The class itself was not that hard, but you have to put forth effort. I did not need the book and used his PowerPoints and the book website for discussion boards and assesments.

Fantastic. Published author, doctorate, highly knowledgeable. If you need help he's more than willing to help. Would recommend to every student needing any history course. Very, very enjoyable semester.

Before taking Professor Holt's class I got had a D in history. But after taking his class I now have an A. He is very Helpful and his powerpoints are as well. Print out the powerpoints and study them for tests. There are three papers that need to be written each are two pages. Take him, you won't regret it.

One of the best professors I have taken at FSCJ. He knows so much about what he teaches and it shows. The class is definitely a lot of work, but Dr. Holt gives you plenty of opportunity to make an A. If you want to do well you can. He is very understanding and kind and will work with you if you ever need it, and you'll actually learn something! :)

Kind of hard to stay awake if you are not a history nut, but the material is well explained and the assignments are not very difficult. He gives study guides for exams so if you study you should do well. If you have issues waking up for class, don't take him (counts attendance)

The class was not very difficult but it was fast paced considering I took the 8 week course. If you dont like history it may be boring. Everything was was online plus class on Fri for 2 hours. He is a hard grader on papers but if you do discussion and study and attend class you can earn an A. 2 test, final was 2, 2-page essays.

He's an amazing professor! He does give a lot of writing assignments, but he'll proof read them to help. He wants all of his students to succeed, but he's going to make it a challenge. I'm a computer science major, history isn't my strong suit, but he was wonderful.

I have taken two of Prof. Holt's classes (EUH 1000 and EUH 1001) and would love to take him for even more. He's easily one of my favorite professors ever. He's clear on what you need to do and gives a pretty good outline of when papers (2 pages) are due. His lectures can be interesting and fun and you can access his powerpoints on BB to study from.

Professor Holt is a GREAT guy. He gives you feedback on every assignment and really cares. Took this class online. It was VERY hard. 5 discussions every week, 4 papers, and a bunch of reading and quizzes. The subject of the modules are very hard but if you do the work you will pass. He always will help you be better at your work.

Professor Holt is amazing, throughout the entire course he has been there for me and gives amazing feedback on my essays. He only assigns 4 essays and the tests aren't hard at all if you take good notes. It can be an easy A if you make good communication. It is smart to attend his lectures because he will point out what would be on the test.

Professor Holt made me love history. The way he explains it all is amazing and if you pay attention, you'll be dying to figure out what happens next! Add his lovely voice and you're golden. Will take any of his other classes just because :)

Dr. Holt is a really nice guy who really loves teaching history. He is a crusades scholar, and really loves teaching that specifically. He assigns lots of short papers, but gives really good, thorough feedback. He's got a dorky sense of humor, but it's endearing. Lots of reading, but he picks cheap texts books to help out the students on a budget.

Dr. Holt is an amazing Prof. BEST class I've taken so far.(I have a 1 more semester left for AA) He really makes the class interesting. Not boring at all. You will have to write papers but they aren't tough and he helps you a lot. FSCJ scored getting him here. Good Luck!

Professor Holt is a great professor. If you're looking for an easy class, this is not it. He is very fast at responding to emails. He likes what he does and he is well at it. All you need to do is study, do the work and actually try. He does give extra credit which helps!!!

He is a very inspirational teacher, gave us 4 essay papers and I believe 2 exams. He also has been giving us a lot of extra credit to make up of your falling behind. I would definitely take him again. Oh.. and make sure to make flashcards for his exams they will save your life

Best online professor I've ever taken. Gives you recorded lectures to listen to. Gives study guides for the midterm and final (only 2 tests in the class). Also allows you to look up answers while you're taking the test. Very quick to respond to emails. Gives out extra credit. Probably don't need the text book if you listen to the lectures.

Dr. Holt is a phenomenal professor and I highly recommend him. His lectures are actually interesting and make coming to class worth it. His syllabus is pretty straight forward. 2 tests and 2 papers. You have to be an idiot to fail his class.

He made lectures so interesting. He has a great sense of humor and really cares about his students. He gave over 100 points (A full letter grade) of extra credit if you attended a debate, Kingsley plantation, or wrote extra paper. 2 papers 3 quizzes.. One quiz was freebie from the syllabus and others had terms to know. I loved coming to class10/10!

First off I'm terrible at history but I passed this class with an A! Prof Holt is amazing and really cares about his students and area of study. Go to class, make notecards and study his lectures (all available in B.B.) and you'll do great, he's also always available by email! 2 paper, 2 exams and extra credit given!

TAKE NOTES, and study your notes for the mid-term and final. His extra credit opportunities make an A easy to achieve, even if you don't get A's on the exams. Very engaging professor, if I had more History classes left to take I would take him for all of them.

Professor Holt was very knowledgable throughout his lecturess. I would not take his class again just because your grade heavily relies on your midterm and final grade. In the 7 week course there was a lot of information to learn within the span of three weeks which made it very stressful. His exam true and false questions are trick questions.

Professor Holt is a fair grader. I took his online 7 week course so I expected a heavy work load. Two recorded lectures a week, discussion posts each week, two papers, a midterm & a final. Clear instruction. Lots of reading but do the work and you will pass.

If you listen to the lectures, go through the power points, and the assigned readings you will do well. He is a fantastic historian and will really get you interested, and often laughing in class.

Prof. Holt is a solid choice if you are debating on whether you should take him or not. His classes are super easy. I passed without taking any notes from his lectures. The papers are a bit lengthy, but outside of that, there aren't many homework assignments. Just two 3-page essays, six quizzes, a Midterm, and a Final. SUPER easy to pass.

This was my first online accelerated class, Prof. Holt is honestly great! Nice and understanding, will help you if you email him. Lots of lectures, be sure to pay attention to them. Just do the work and study and you'll be fine! Quizzes are short and easy if you pay attention, and only 2 papers are due. I would 100% recommend!

I took the accelerated course. Here are some notes: His lectures consolidate all essential book info. There's no need to read the assigned chapters to pass. However, you MUST read the articles he assigns. Take English Comp before this class; he expects papers to be written well. Great communication via email. Significant extra credit available!

I've taken Mr. Holt twice. He is an excellent history professor, and I have thoroughly enjoyed both classes. His lectures are great, and most of the assignments (papers, exams) are based on readings, and lectures throughout the class. Mr. Holt is a genuinely great guy and i can assure you, you will enjoy his classes. He is my #1 favorite professor.

He is a good professor. You will need to work for your grade. I did take this class as a hybrid. Theres a quiz every week 10 questions. The questions normally came from the articles. I hardly read the chapters, mainly just flipped through it. There will be a paper(s).You will have a midterm and final. A lot of EXTRA credit.

Prof Holt has been my favorite professor so far. He gives 3 exams, 2 papers , and lots of extra credit. There's no final. The textbook and readings are not necessary in my opinion but still good to read. Grades kinda easy on papers and exams. He made me really enjoy history while i had him and i learned a lot. Study guides helpful! Would recommend!

Professor Holt is clearly in his element teaching history. He cracks jokes and gives well-organized lectures. For the seven-week course, there were two essays (based on articles), two exams, a syllabus quiz, and extra credit. Attendance was not required but itll save you from reading the book. I recommend taking the accelerated course.

This professor was great, very understanding and he would always reply back to me quickly. I recommend taking him because he is a great professor. His lectures are kind of long but they cover everything you need to know to be successful in this class.

Excellent job at providing the information for you to learn. His all-online class lectures vary from 30-90 mins, but are very informative. He requires you to read a lot, if you are a slow reader, the lectures are a life saver. Quiz weekly and the papers are best to highlight the topics and elaborate on them in detail. Correct spelling and grammar!

Loved this class if you are a history buff like me you will do well! Gives extra credit, lecture heavy, gives good feedback on papers, really kind and is easy to understand. You don't really need the text book if you are very familiar with history but it is great for extra explanations if you struggle a bit. If you need help just ask!

I just completed his final exam for his seven-week course with an A+. You meet up once a week to discuss what is due and he gives extra credit sometimes if you just show up. He provides everything you need in the lectures to complete weekly quizzes, the two assigned papers, and the final exam. His lectures were really interesting and he's great!!

I loved taking his A7 class. 6 mods, 6 open-book quizzes, 2 essays, & 1 open-book final. His lectures were straightforward & his feedback was thorough. He gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit. The 7th week was dedicated to studying for the final (which he provides a guide for). He is understanding & wants you to succeed. 5/5!

I took him as a seven-week course and I really enjoyed it. He was very passionate and understanding. Classes aren't mandatory, but I recommend attending to get additional info to help with his weekly quizzes. His final exam is a complete copy of the PowerPoint slides he covers. Responds very fast to emails and is willing to extend deadlines.

I took a C7 from him and I found myself wishing I had taken a longer class. He's passionate and has engaging lectures and I really enjoyed learning from him. Provided study guides for both tests and papers. Very generous with extra credit. There were required readings but most of the tests covered the lectures/power points. Would take again.

This is one of those professors you can tell cares about what he does. Instead of just reading straight from a book or telling us to read it ourselves, he tells us about the chapter in his own words like a story time. I learned a lot bc each week was like looking forward to the next episode of a show. Put in time + effort= you'll do well.
