Excellent prof, takes the time to make sure his students understand the material
Very boring material but the prof keeps your interest to a certain degree.
You can tell he actually likes what he does...

Seems a little lost.. students always yelling out suggestions on how to go about something he's trying to do i.e. teaching! I had no idea what the class was about until the 3rd one! Least favourite class. By far.
he's very nice to look at, pretty young and caring. very knowledgeable and wants to make sure you get what he's taking about. his tests are straight forward. if you study you'll do well. probally my favorite teacher at ryerson so far.
very intelligent and interesting to listen to! i love that he treats students like equals and doesn't talk down to you. great prof.
my fave prof so far!
one of the best professors so far! definitely makes the class interesting and he's very easy to talk to! pretty good looking too...=p
Awesome professor. Explains material very well, very funny, extremely intelligent. Along with Prof. Kraay, is the best prof in the programme.
I find him really disorganized. If he wasn't at the front of the class he'd blend in with the students.. it's like he has no authority or control of his class. Very softspoken. (And doesn't even hold a candle to Prof. Kraay)
Great prof.
the best professor ever!
Wow, I like Hunter way better than Lovewell. Hunter listens to his students like he actually cares what they have to say. I would have rather just have him teach the class. And sir, whats up with the diet coke? He's GREAT!
wow what a man. hunter knows them stuff. :)look out! simles with hunter can not be taken at face-value; there is a devil lurking behind thom smiles.

Professor Hunter, you are the MAN! You should have come to the ACS Pub Night though! Haha, Professor Hunter was funny, and understood the material in a way that he could relate it to us.. that said, he is the epitome of a "Philosopher"
No points for teaching style...just points for being cool.
Hunter is the hottest proff alive. He's also a really good teacher. It sucks that he has the most boring topics, but the girls make it to class just to look at him.
Hunter is an awesome teacher, no complaints there. He's also rather nice to look at, which I wont complain about either.
I'm going to agree that Hunter is very sexy. I do, however, disagree that the topics are boring. I find the material fascinating - and he delivers it with such passion. Excellent prof.
ya i'll agree, Hunter is a very sexy man and a great professor. his topics are pretty dull and dry but he tries so that good, and ya i never miss his class, he's just too good to look at.
Very good professor. He helps to get a deep understanding of philosophy.
Hunter's okay, I like him. Sometimes his lectures are a little dissorganized and it makes it hard to take good notes. But he's a good professor, and seems to care aobut the students.
interesting man teaching an interesting course. Be careful around him when he has too much caffiene though!

What a wonderful person, i learnt so much from him. Extremely helpful and soooo unbelievably hot!!!. I almost fell in love with him!
The man is soo cute and so sweet. Very aproachable. Interesting course material. He is great person to get help from if you go see him.
He seemed to enjoy some pretty crummy presentations
He has a heart!! ahahha......passion is everything, you can tell hes actually genuine about his lecture material. To the ppl that always talk at the back of class.....please pay the man some respect!!! He would never say anything because he is too sweet of a man to do so.
He's witty
Really great prof and course. Hunter is passionate and engages the class very well. Future ACS students, savour the class - its the best of the bunch.
Extremely articulate- good lectures despite some dull content. He seemed to care about the students and was very helpful. Strongly recommended.
very helpful, always looking out for students best interest. made some decent jokes, i enjoyed his class.
I wish I could take this class again just because of hunter
great guy. great prof. very approachable, could even stop him outside and enjoy a smoke together. just overall a great person. and he's hot so that keeps his class attendance high. make sure you have hunter.
Andrew is a terrific prof who really cares about his students success. Do the work and get a good grade! He is always available for help and is too funny out at the pub nights!
great teacher. Clear about assignemnts. wants everyone to do well and trys to make things interesting. Easy class
Well since this class is a required one if you are in arts, theres nothing you can do. You're kind of screwed. Read the book and utilize the classw ebsite... that's all I can say.
So nice! Good Lecturer - plus he posts lecture notes! SO HELPFUL
Wonderful professor - You will enjoy his lectures- very organized and very intelligente :) We love him @ ryerson
The best prof. ever and the sweetest guy! If you have the chance to be in his class, take it! You will not be disappointed!!
awesome
So helpful and very nice. You can tell he loves what he teaches and that's so refreshing. I look forward to his classes. If I had one critique, it's that he's a bit of a push over compared to other profs but that's not really a fault! :)
Such a boring prof. I always had a hard time staying awake in this class. As a matter of fact, everyone did. He talks really softly and it is difficult to hear him so try and sit close to the front.
Very kind man. Very easy as well. He is willing to take time out for all of you to talk, so take advantage of this-
Andrew is such a great prof. While he doesn't always deliver the world's most exciting lectures, he remains happy and funny. Tests and essays were fair, so was his marking. Definitely a pushover
Friendly, approachable.Definitely always looking to impart knowledge onto the students. One of the best.
He is the best!
An amazing professor. My faveourite at Ryerson. You can tell that he truly cares about his students - unlike many other professors. Very helpful, easy to understand and makes some funny jokes! He is also quite cute!!!
Andrew is such a great prof and philosopher. He knows what he is talking about! He really cares about his students! He is really sweet and always willing to help you, if you need it! Very understandable! He is also kind of cute too!
He is a very good prof. Enjoys what he teaches. And is also very funny!
He is one of the best profs at ryerson. He is understanding, and is always offering help! Soooo great!
This is a great course. The content is useful, and very applicable to real life. He is such a great prof. Teaches it with passion and enthusiansm. Try to get in his class!
Good prof!
Great professor. Very helpful. Always looking foward to attending his lectures. Interesting class, great professor!
The class has been really good. The text was not really needed. It was like just hard 2 understand. The prof. did a great job explaining the stuff in the course! Even though the class was at 8am, professor hunter made it interesting.
The material was okay. Its q needed course for arts. Try to get this prof teaching it
Make sure you get professor Hunter teaching this class! He is understanding and makes some funny jokes! Also, he is super cute!
It was my fave class at ryerson so far. it was 8am, but it was so worth it. the prof actually wantes everyone in his class to do well...and always offeres help.
This class was so cool. The material was okay, but the prof taught it very well. He wants everyone to do good. His study guides are great.
This class is one of the best in my first year at ryerson. Just make sure u get into andrew hunters class. He is a great help, and has these good study guides. easy to do well.
Such a great professor. Good class. One of those classes that is actually useful, even though at first it doesnt seem like it!
You will not be disappointed. At times the course can get a bit boring but this prof makes it interesting. His examples are funny too. One of the only profs that actully cares bout his class.
Hunter is such a sweet guy. He is very kindhearted and easy to talk to. He makes these reviews for our quizzes that are sooo helpful! Really great prof overall!
This class is good. It is one of the few courses acs students have to take that is actually useful! This prof knows what he's talking about. He is very helpful and his study guides are so good!
This class is ok. U need to take it for acs. Make sure u take it with this prof though. he is very helpful and nice. My friends took it with other profs and they hated it
this class is very good. it is one of the only acs classes that are actually interesting. this prof is the best. he makes everything so easy to understand and u dont have to read the book to do well.
Out of all the acs classes this class is the best! The best acs prof there is.Makes boring courses, not boring at all
dis class is alrite. the prof is good tho, and the course seems common sense
<3
Is so nice, teaches in a clear way that's accessible to all students. Listens to questions and is nice to all students. Likes use of the first person in essays, teaches interesting content in class. <3
He is so nice to look at.
Great professor. Makes class interesting, very clear and helpful. Also very much fun.
loved this class and the professor.. he made everything straight forward.. no curve-balls.. the exam and midterm is exactly what is in the books and taught in class. you should do fine if you keep up
I found the material extremely easy, so I don't know what to say; I didn't need a professor for this course.
He is an extremely patient prof at explaining concepts. Yes, at times, he does rush with material that can be viewed as common sense. ATTEND OFFICE HOURS if you have doubts. He'll be more than willing to help you out. Also, if your TA is a hard marker, Go to Hunter's office hours and re-evaluate the test questions with him. He'll give extra marks.
Andrew Hunter is by far the best professor at Ryerson University. He is so passionate when he teaches, and he is very engaging. If you have ANY questions, he is so helpful :) def recommend going to his office hours. Not a hard class to do well in at all, just go to the lectures (and pay attention) and you'll do great :) Loved him!
OMG he is amazing! tkae this course with him and only him, attend tutorials for sure, but his slides are the most important thing. memorize them and ur good to go
The material for this class is dull, but Andrew Hunter makes it so entertaining! Love him, definitely one of my favourite professors at Ryerson. He is SO helpful, I went to all his office hours before quizzes and I did amazing in the course. Would definitely take another course taught by him!
It's not crucial to go to his lectures, but if you do, he takes his time to go over the material, and he clarifies any confusion immediately. The textbook helps, but the slides on bb provide most of what you need to know for tests and final. Attendance for tutorial is mandatory, and very helpful too!
Good proff. explains his material good, gives you enough time to write a test.
Good Proff. Funny and easy
BEST PROFF for this class if you can chooose him DO IT !!
An all-around great professor. As long as you attend lectures and read the textbook you should succeed in the course.
Perfect prof :)
He is a great prof. HE makes the course much easier. I enjoyed his class, but his voice is mono-toned. However he is very friendly and welcoming when you need extra help. Attendance is a must and ALWAYS attend the tutorials because they help understand what the prof teaches in class. Always read the text book.
Most boring course possible - but he makes it as interesting as he can. Super funny and very easy to talk to. Go to class and read the textbook!!!!! You will regret not listening! It is tedious but push through it.
He's a really enthusiastic teacher. Takes his time to thoroughly explain even the simplest concepts so that there is no confusion. Course can be tricky but he makes it clear and simple in his explanations. Awesome prof, definitely recommend!
He's very clear in all his lectures. Always reminding us of his office hours so that we can get help if needed. Tells us what we will be tested on and always gives us study guides for the tests and quizzes. The course isn't the most enthusiastic course but he tries to make its coherent as possible and makes it fun with his kind personality.
Andrew hunter was my first good university teacher. All his slides and lectures were greatly helpful and also he explains it in a way that is easy to grasp. I would definitely suggest taking his ssh105 course over any other prof!
I really enjoyed this class! The content is easy to understand, he clarifies the textbook readings during lecture, so you don't really need to do both.
Andrew Hunter is an amazing professor! He really wants his students to do well and basically tells you exactly what is going to be on the tests. I found the material quite easy but many find it very hard, so it all depends on the person.
Very good teacher. Very clear in lectures
He's an amazing Prof!!
Great prof, lectures are not boring at all
Hands down best professor. he loves teaching and will make the course extremely interesting !! I absolutely loved critical thinking because of him. he is so nice & is willing to help you if you need any. Yet, you have To go to the lectures and do the reading to do really well. overall it was my favourite course, because if him!
BEST PROF. TAKE HIM, HE ACTUALLY CARES AND WANTS TO MAKES SURE EVERYONE UNDERSTANDS.
You need to study from the beginning. They Teacher's assistant helped me understand all of the topics easier.
What a fantastic professor - unfortunately only 3 descriptor words are to be selected from the above question. More words I thought Prof Hunter fit under include: respected by students; hilarious; clear and concise grading criteria; would definitely take again . Very understanding and always wants to help. Other professors should learn from him.
Three tests which are fair is you know your stuff. He tries to answer each question although the class is big.
Professor hunter is one of the greatest across Ryerson university. He is well respected by all his students and treats them as equals. He goes above and beyond - always encouraging students to visit during office hours. This course was a great learning experience and I was so blessed to have him as a professor. You rock professor hunter!
Probably the best professor I've had thus far. Fantastic at making something boring (like critical thinking #blah) really enjoyable (he uses a ton of the weirdest examples that help during tests and forever). Would highly recommend. Go to class though, half the class failed because the material is hard. I got an A+ without doing any readings
OMG YES YES YES YES TAKE HIM ANY CHANCE YOU GET. HES HONESTLY THE BESSSSSSSSSSSSST PROF EVER. HE ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT HIS STUDENTS AND HIS LECTURES ARE SO INTERESTING. ID TAKE HIM AGAIN ANY CHANCE I GET!
He showed true interest in helping the students pass. If you go to lectures you are guaranteed to pass because he asks similar questions as on the test and exam as he teaches. He tries to make sure everyone has the proper help they need.
IMO, he isn't "5/5/5 THE BEST PROF EVER OMG", but he's a very genuine professor that can definitely teach. He knows his material well, and will do everything he can to help you succeed. Don't expect PHL214(critical thinking) to stimulate your mind and delve into the mechanics of human thought(like I did), expect logic, and argument structure.
Really great professor. Explains concepts very clearly and uses a great textbook. I would definitely take another class with him.
he is a good professor in ryerson
One of the best profs at Ryerson. Just practice well enough for tests should be an easy A for the course.
Best professor possible - if you are in ssh 105 try to get him for your sake. Be aware of attending lectures because he does go in depth with certain things. Marks fair and tests are not hard at all if you are prepared. He is also very passionate and is a great one on one; he wants to make sure you understand the work.
Really good prof, genuinely cares about the students. Also, he always uses fun and interactive examples to give us students a better understanding of certain concepts
good professor. attending lecture and reading the textbook makes it way easier to understand the content.
He's fine. Apparently, people found the other prof to be harder than Hunter. Understand the concepts and memorize the definitions and you will be fine.
Somebody needs to update that profile picture. Oh yeah also pay attention in class. And if you know yourself and can absorb information from the lecture, don't buy the textbook. I used it probably 3 times and just defaulted to the lecture slides and asking questions.
Great prof. Gives great lectures and is very helpful.
Great guy, passionate about his teaching. Sit near the front of the lectures to understand and get examples. DONT SIT IN THE BACK. IT'S NOT WORTH IT! You really have to read the textbook and practice the examples until they stick. Relatively easy if you do the work.
Andrew is a great prof and truly cares about his students. However, the material is pretty tough, so be sure to pay attention. He tries his best to make lectures engaging and easy to understand and offers as much out of class support as possible. Tutorials were super useful in this course. I would definitely take another class with him.
Doesn't understand how to use a mic so if you sit near back you won't hear him at all! Material is confusing and test hevay and if you don't attend lecture, tutorial and slg sessions you wont pass. Prof isn't very helpful, but isn't horrible either.
Andrew is amazing. He makes 8 am classes interesting. the course isn't hard, and he is very organized. He provides lots of examples in class and has a clear test review sheet. All material on the sheet is on the test, doesn't miss anything out. HE IS AMAZING.
Overall an excellent professor. While his lectures are not mandatory I highly recommend attending them as there is content covered in lecture that is not in the textbook. The truth tables which were very significant on the final were not adequately covered in lecture and I had to teach it to myself. Go to the SLG sessions and keep up.
He is awesome and so nice! Critical Thinking isn't an easy course, but if you're in his class, if u just pay attention, do the textbook questions, and practice, you will easily get A!
He is such a good professor and thoroughly explains concepts really well. Also if you miss a class, the lecture slides are very clear and easy to follow and learn from. Critical Thinking is an easy course if u pay attention, write good notes and practice the exercises in the textbook. Put in the work and you can easily get an A.
Professor hunter was a great prof. His lectures were a little difficult to get through only because of the content of the course but otherwise he simplified to the best of his abilities. Grading criteria was clear and he was very lenient with grading. He's very accessible outside of class and is even willing to Skype for help on assignments.
Very caring prof. He makes sure to go through a lot of examples in class during the "difficult" topics. Honestly, the class was a breeze and you don't need to show up to class to get a 100.
amazing prof, gives fair tests and the exam was proper. make sure to read the textbook especially for the first two tests and go over his slides. The slides are very important to read over and full over exam/test material content. In terms of marking its all up to the TA I had Connor and he was a gem.
Hunter engages with his content and is very clear. His teaching style is very organized and I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH, GO TO YOUR TUTORIAL. I had Jack as my TA and he was very helpful when it came to upcoming tests. Anyways, the content was very straightforward. We had 3 tests and one exam. Practice makes perfect!!!
Prof. Hunter lives up to the promise a lot of prof make that if you show up to the class and do the readings, you'll definitely pass. Not gonna lie, your chances of passing without actually doing the work are slim in his classroom. He's a great lecturer; seems like a nice guy too. I've seen him get a little sassy with people who leave early though
Amazing prof! Personally I enjoyed Professor Andrew's method of teaching. His lectures were very interesting. His tests were also very straightforward. The questions on the test were similar to the material that was taught in class. Thus it is better to attend his classes if you want to do better on the tests.
The class is really straight forward, and what is expected of you is clear. Do the readings, attend tutorials and lectures and you'll be fine. He's one of those professors who won't trick you he just wants you to do the required work. All of the test answers can be found directly in the textbook so its possible to get 100%
Andrew is one of the kindest professors I've had in my undergrad! He is open to different perspectives and takes on assignments, cares deeply about his students, and guides class conversations well. He is very accommodating and understands the various stresses of student experience. I am so grateful I took his course!
nice guy and good lecturer. i was sick once and missed the deadline of an assignment, i emailed him with a doctors note and he kindly emailed back and said not to worry about the late marks and erased them. would take his class again.
Professor Hunter is great! The course was a little challenging from a first-year perspective but he's very patient and spends the first hour of every lecture going over last week's information. He gives a lot of examples and uses different ways to help you understand. I really recommend him! No essays, just 3 quizzes and then the final exam.
Very good at explaining. He speaks loud and clear very interesting prof. However if you are taking ssh 105 The prof isn't the one that marks your test and exams. They are the TA's try to get Connor as ur TA. BEST TA very. Very responsive in emails, will offer one on one study session support if your need it. Is fair on marking.
A good prof, just pay attention and you'll be bless.
One of my favourite professors. Lectures are mandatory but Andrew does not waste your time- he is no-nonsense, clear, and straightforward. Take notes during class, participate during tutorials, and review material before quizzes and you'll easily pass the class. I only referred to the textbook to clarify a few details but it's still handy to have.
Really easy, rarely went to the lectures. if you get a good TA you are set. read the textbook a little and you'll be fine.
I honestly loved this class. Andrew is a great professor. He explains everything thoroughly and his texts are super fair. Pay attention and go to tutorials, and you'll do great. If I could take this again, I 100% would.
He's great you have to work for his grade.
this class has ruined me.
The class itself wasnt too hard. Prof Hunter gives fairly easy tests, and for the most part its all straightforward. At the end of the day you either know your stuff or you dont. Dont purchase the textbook, his lectures are enough.
andrew hunter is a great prof! everything he states is on the exam. This is a hard mandatory class but he makes is easier. Several test questions were taken straight from the textbook so make sure you have extensive notes on those. Read the textbook, watch the lecture, do practice questions, and attend and participate in tutorials and you got an A!
He is honestly so sweet and caring! As long as you study, you will be fine!
Professor Hunter had great pre-recorded lectures that were understandable. The activities within these lectures really got me thinking. He marks very few things. 3 tests and a exam. These activities had very disputable questions that I found myself emailing about many of them. Professor Hunter DID NOT respond to any email in which I asked for help.
Pretty nice prof. Had zero interaction with him since it was online, however his slides are great for studying. The quizzes were kind of tough, but if you spend a good enough while studying you should be okay.
The class content itself is a bit dry and boring, but Andrew does teach it well. He is very knowledgeable, and provides many examples so students can practice and master the material. He is quick to respond to emails, and will help out when needed. The tests and exam are easy if you put in the work and read the textbook thoroughly.
He's a really calm prof and teaches slowly, but this class was brutal for me since the concepts were totally new to me and were taught in a very non engaging way considering that all the lectures were prerecorded. The "quizzes" are actually tests so beware since one was worth 5% less than the exam. I struggled with the tests as they are confusing.
GO TO THE TUTORIALS. NO NEED TO READ THE TEXTBOOK. GO TO THE TUTORIALS. NO NEED TO READ THE TEXTBOOK. GO TO THE TUTORIALS. NO NEED TO READ THE TEXTBOOK. GO TO THE TUTORIALS. NO NEED TO READ THE TEXTBOOK. GO TO THE TUTORIALS. NO NEED TO READ THE TEXTBOOK. GO TO THE TUTORIALS. NO NEED TO READ THE TEXTBOOK. Also watch the lectures
This course is so boring and honestly quite difficult if you don't keep up with the lectures. Everything is a new concept so I struggled at first but my biggest tip is PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT. You actually need to put in the work and practice over and over. His tests were not too bad if you practiced a lot, but the final exam was more challenging.
He is a great teacher, made the course super interesting and very straightforward
Really boring, monotone prof. Hard to learn in his class as he's not specific and is very vague on how to study for tests and the instructions for his essay are unclear. Do not take a philosophy course with this prof unless you're an expert, you'll be lost.
tests are vague, doesn't help and monotone voice. Assumes everyone knows what he's talking about and skims over things that might be important. posts lecture slides late as well and long powerpoint recording to just go over them in class in same monotone voice. very dull. doesn't offer much help in emails, either.
Easiest class in ryerson... test are off the slides
Only uses quizzes for grading which are weighted in 20%-30% each so theyre more like tests. lectures are him reading slides he posted. Textbook reading is REQUIRED theres more from the textbook than lectures on tests. Topics are hard coming in with no prior knowledge. Overall I wouldnt recommend. Beware of the fake comments on here.
There's alot of content, but he breaks it down in his lecture; he tests mostly (99%) on his slides. Never even looked at the textbook and got an amazing grade. Great professor, made the class easy and fun, while also doing a great job teaching. Just keep up with the lectures and take notes.
The best SSH105 prof. He teaches the content really well. If you put in the effort and study you will easily get an A. Attend tutorials they are helpful. The course is composed of 3 quizzes and 1 final and the test content is cumulative. Make sure you know how to diagram arguments because they are worth a lot of marks during quizzes and finals.
If you have andrew for SSH 105 you should feel lucky because he is a really good prof as long as you do the readings, watch lectures and do the exercises you should be fine. This class requires students to actual try to succeed and isnt impossible as long as you do what recommends to succeed. I did everything he suggested to do and got a good mark
Definitely one of the best profs at Ryerson. He makes his tests quite easy, just study (textbook is useful, the lectures should be enough though) Attend tutorials because you get the most practice and help in them. This class is an easy A+ for sure as long as you keep up with lectures and make notes weekly.
Excellent prof who cares about the success of his students. A real gem, someone who is rare to find.
The class was async so, I didn't really get to know him personally. However, he always provided study guides and clear outlines as to what was going to be on the assessments. We had 3 quizzes and a final exam. For me, the TA was what made this class awesome. I found the exam challenging as it didn't line up with what he posted and was bit obscure.
Nice prof, definitely reach out to him or the ta if you have any questions they will give you good tips, apart from that pretty easy class
He was a great prof, but the course... He is the best prof to take if you are taking SSH105 because he does a good job at explaining the topics. The course itself was hard, but that was expected.
Really nice guy, no live lectures but does weekly office hours. Provides study guides with everything you need to know for the quizzes and exams and provides external resources for practice. Tests are very straightforward and easy.
Andrew hosted weekly office hours where he answered questions. The content was straightforward but difficult. Course relied entirely on the Textbook! All exams were quizzes. No participation required. Good Class and Good Professor.
Took this class online so lectures were recorded, I was able to complete them on my own time and reading the textbook chapters ahead of time help you undestand the lectures. BTW his lectures were amazing and his tests were SUPER easy. Although, a few of my 4th year friends told me this class was very difficult in person.
Prof is very knowledgable about the material and offers a lot of resources to help out but for some reason this course was very difficult for me. lecture slides are long and quizzes and exams seemed to have trick questions. I suggest taking advantage of tutorials, student- lead study sessions, etc. early on in the course to get a good mark.
Andrew Hunter is a great professor. He is knowledgable about the course material and is available for extra help, as the content can be difficult to understand. My TA, Sarah Touman, deserves special mention because she is the one who got me through such a knowledge and application-based course! A big thank you to her. BTW practice makes perfect!
Veryyyy easy class, had great TAs that really help. What you learn is exactly whats on the tests. Read the textbook, watch his lectures for extra clarification and examples and GO TO TUTORIALS the TAs help so much because they go over material and practice them with you. I had Wyeth Robertson as TA hes my fave
Get ready to take lots of notes and memorize the book and everything he posts inside and out. The TA is great though. It's not easy though, you definitely need to work for it
Great prof! You don't need the textbook at all; the 4 tests are all based off asynchronous lectures. The recorded lectures are amazing, they go over all the concepts effectively, with a good amount of examples. Just keep up with the lectures, do the assigned practice questions, and you'll do good.
Overall pretty chill professor and lenient if you ask for an extension. I submitted my essay on the dot of closing and didn't ask for an extension as others did, but I didn't get any marks taken off. Bless this prof. There are textbook readings and other readings, which can be a lot. His announcements could be improved to be a bit more personable.
The content was pretty interesting at times. The tests were pretty difficult so, I recommend actually studying for them and doing readings. However, he marked the essays pretty easy. He is also kind and accessible outside of class. Attendance wasn't mandatory either as he offered the option to do it online due to COVID.
Professor Hunter is a good professor. Although, my section was mostly taught by a TA because there was a gigantic number of students in his classes (300 students, I believe), each section had a TA. He would teach our section once a week and he seemed like a good professor. He answered any questions we had. My grade is a C from other courses work.
He was a good teacher, but how you do in this course is completely up to you. He doesn't mark the quizzes, it's all TA's and there's an abundance of material online. I don't know about any of the other SSH105 teachers but if you want to you could easily get an A+ with Hunter.
Overall Professor Hunter is a pretty chill prof. My issue is not with Professor Hunter but with the class overall. I found it to be a class not on critical thinking but on pure nonsense lol. Be ready, there is algebra involved!! "How does algebra have anything to do with critical thinking?" Short answer: It doesn't. Be prepared!
Easy peasy! Just read the lecture slides and skim the textbook and you'll be fine! There are tutorials if you get stuck on anything but tbh the content is just common sense but with weird words. You're graded on 4 tests including the exam and each test is cumulative. Gives study sheets outlining exactly what you need to know.
overall pretty easy class, content is confusing at first but the lecture slides are very helpful. textbook is not needed but turned out to be very helpful. Theres 4 tests including Final, all cumulative, he gives out study guides that are very detailed and tell you what you need to know & everything that will be on the test (TAs do all marking)
not sure why but this SSH105 class was significantly more difficult than others from what i have heard. other professors don't cover half the stuff we did in this class. GO TO TUTORIALS and GO TO LECTURES otherwise, you will do very poorly.
Really good professor despite how confusing and "boring" people say SSH105 is, I really enjoyed his lectures and even had fun doing the quizzes and the final. He is a great professor you should defnitley take him.
This course was not as bad as everyone said it would be. Pay attention to the lectures, and you will do well on the tests. My TA was really nice, and they are the one's who mark your work. However, Andrew does cover some topics in his class that other SSH classes do not. The final was quite harder than the tests.
Professor Hunter is great and made the course very easy. His tests have lots of questions from the textbook and he provides you with guidelines and practice questions for exams. Your TA marks all of your work, so make sure you go to tutorials. If you use all of his resources and understand the textbook, you will do very well!
idk how people liked his class, he talked NON STOP all class and when people asked questions he got slightly mad, asking to move on etc. TAs determine if you pass or fail, go to tutorials and try the SLG sessions, they might help. found some of the material confusing.
Good prof. Makes sure we understand and his tests are not that hard. Would recommend taking him.
Very good professor. His lectures are detailed and he takes his time to explain concepts. He also uploads all the slides for reference too which is very useful. Attendance isn't mandatory for lectures, and he uploads recorded lectures for convenience. If you read through the textbook and refer to lecture notes, this course is a walk in the park!
10/10 prof! From what I heard, out of all of the other SSH105 profs Andrew Hunter is the best one. Just make sure to do the practice questions and review but the material is pretty straightforward. No papers just 4 quizzes. I found this class quite easy once you understand the material - requires some memorization and Sudoku!

he was nice and everything is online including videos of the lecture. did not show up to class so i dont know that much but overall not too bad as a course.
Hunter was a great prof, he recorded all of his lectures and posted them online cuz the class was at 8am and made attendance not mandatory! He set clear expectations of what the tests will include and genuinely wants his students to do good in his class.
def the best to take for ssh105, posts videos of all the lectures online and study guides for the tests + caring, i got sick and he let me write one of the tests a week later no worries; ssh is a hard to BS class but prof. Hunter is understanding and provides all resources needed to excel (ps. the SLG sessions for this course are really helpful)
I honestly think if you attend lecture/watch the recorded lecture posted and try just a bit that it's impossible to fail this class; Prof. Hunter makes the material and what he expects of you very clear and it's not superrr difficult material if you stay on track. Also ask questions if confused and attend tutorials and/or SLGs!!
Whew Chile, this class was so hard for no reason. I respect that he posted the lectures online so we don't actually have to go to class but if you're thinking this is a bird course it is NOT. Although he was nice, if I could go back I would take this with David who's tests are non cumulative as opposed to Andrew in which all tests are cumulative.
Andrew hunter is a good professor. Don't take critical thinking with David hunter or kraay. In the fall of 2024, I took it with kraay and 200+ failed the first test. He's a horrible professor. At the end 18-20% of the class ended up with F's. I did the first test for Andrew hunter. It's out of 44 marks.
The course weightings for kraay and Andrew hunter are the same, but the tests are completely different. Not the same tests. Completely different layouts. My advice is to take the course with Andrew hunter. Once you're enrolled, course outline will indicate which Ta you have. Take Andrew Wilcox Test 1-15% Test 2 -20% Test 3 -30% Final exam-35%
This prof is BY FAR THE worst prof. Take it with David hunter. His quizzes are online. People rating this guy a 5 are trolling here to reduce competition. They don't want people to pass. Trust me David hunter and kraay are the easiest. Don't listen to everyone else they trying to set you up for failure. My friend and I took it with kraay we got A+
Kraay is the best prof. I got a A+ with him. If you want to pass without any worry. Take professor kraay. He's the easiest to pass. The rest of the profs HAVE THE HARDEST TESTS. Kraay makes it easier to understand and his tests are EASY. You don't need to study to pass his. It's common sense
Best professor
Love professor Andrew makes the course easy to underhand
still regret taking his course first year, RUN and RUN FAST.
Be prepared to read and write exams for this class with Andrew. I wasn't prepared for this and I ended with a lower mark than I'd like. With that being said, Andrews a good professor who is willing to explain toics and answer questions thoroughly.
Got an A, buy the textbook - it helps!! Recorded + in-person lectures. He explains well, for me I read 90% of the textbook though IN DETAIL WITH PRACTICE and it was sufficient. He is very fair with exams, SSH105 is a hard course so you 100% will need to put in the work nonetheless, but he is the best option to take it with. 4 exams 15/20/30/35%.
Such a sweet and caring prof, takes his time to make sure the whole lecture hall understands what he's talking about. I enjoyed coming to his 8am class. I didn't read the textbook past the first chapter tbh but he taught super well I didn't needa study much. Tutorials were also real informative and my TA was awesome. Definitely take him for SSH105
Amazing prof, he gives every opportunity for students to get the best grade possible. If you can't make class, he has online videos made which cover the same information, minus exam dates. exams and tests are marked my TA's, so attend those meetings and make use of their knowledge.
Going into SSH105 I was a bit scared with how many people had described it, but honestly Andrew made it so much better! The one who marks your test and exam is ur TA but Andrew will always be there to help with his office hours!
Andrew was great. He made me excited about philosophy and he made me think deeply about philosophy.
I am writing this review a few years later after taking his class, but Andrew Hunter was amazing. I made a mistake and somehow missed the exam, and he still allowed me to come in at a different date and time to write it. He is a very reasonable and cares about what he is teaching. If you put the work into the course you will see results :)
Andrew was a great professor for when I took Critical Thinking. I may have gotten a low grade from him, but he was very understanding when I had to reschedule my exam, due to an academic conflict, and had me write it a different date. As long as you follow the lecture, and take good notes, you will do well in his class
I had Andrew Hunter this semester for ACS900 and I usually don't give ratings for professors but he has to be hands down one of my fav professors. He GENUINELY cares for his students and truly wants us to succeed.
