oki teacher...
Great teacher, got a lot out of the class. He is very fair to those that try hard and show up to class on time and often. Would take a class again with him.
Andy was a great teacher. He made sure people were prepared for his tests and if they needed help, he made himself available 24/7. If people didn't pass this class, it's because they didn't even try. Great teacher and I highly recommend him to anybody else who needs to take microbiology. not the most fun class but he makes it bareable.
Andy is a great teacher. Very passionate about the material but understanding that most people are not. He is always willing to help and wants his students to succeed. Attendance for lab is mandatory but he is willing to let you come in to his other class to make up the missed class. Never opened the book and still got an A. Ppts are very helpful.
Andy is great teacher.Class require lot of studying if you want A but doable. He's very helpful on labs;shows you what to do step by step.2 lab and 4 lecture exams;one of each is open book.He gives points for returning lab results which you doing in class anyway! His ppts are great-study only it for test.Class was great because of him-take him!
Great teacher with a passion for what he does! Very helpful and personable. Would definitely recommend him!
Andy is a great teacher! He is very young but also very knowledgeable. The tests are pretty easy if you study and same with the lab tests. The labs are the best part and the unknown was surprisingly fun too. Definitely would recommend him!
Andy is a great teacher - he is very clear and helpful. He knows the subject well, and he doesn't mind admitting when he doesn't know something - he'll look it up for you. It's not hard to do well if you pay attention and study his ppts. The subject is surprisingly interesting too.
Andy is such a sweetheart. For real, he is a really nice guy. He is good at lecturing and he always seems willing to help you. Such a great quality in a professor. Highly recommended to take him, he is willing to work with you to be the best you can be for his class. Also the textbook wasn't really necessary...take this guy!
Really great professor. Would recommend to anyone.
This is a professor who is really passionate about the subject! Really nice as a person as well. He is very eager to help and gives extra credit on every exam. Encourages questions and will explain as many times as it takes. Only used the text book once on the open book final!
I LOVED Andy! Microbiology is a lot of dry material, but you can tell that he loves to teach.. and that makes it so much more enjoyable to listen to. I would highly recommend him. Book is not really needed because he explains everything in major detail, another plus!
Awesome teacher! Seriously, if you get the chance take him. Easily get an A in the class. His tests are pretty easy. Come to lecture and attend all labs and you will do just fine. I was worried about this class but I did very well so it shows he is a great professor!!!
Very good professor. Very straightforward tests. His lectures were interesting and enjoyable. Sorry I cannot take more classes with him!
Andy is seriously such a great teacher. He is so enthusiastic about his work and he is so helpful when it comes to questions. Microbiology isn't an easy course, but he tries to use language we understand to teach. His tests are a bit hard, but that's only if you don't read the book and pps. He is understanding and helpful in lab too! LOVED HIM!
Andy is a great teacher. He makes lectures interesting! Lab is fun! I loved lab. And he is helpful if you have any questions. I wish he taught more classes. Take him! He is awesome.
Andy was an awesome teacher! He was so enthusiastic during lectures and lab and clearly loves microbiology. All lab assignments, study guides and lectures were clear throughout the semester and the tests came straight from them. Go to lecture, read your book and do his study guides. You'll have no problem. :) wish he taught more classes!
Great teacher, funny, very helpful and gives study guide prior to tests. Don't need to read the book. Tests are from power points which are very detailed.
My favorite teacher in Harper so far. He utilizes blackboard and gives power points to students along with helpful videos. You can really tell he enjoys teaching, very charismatic and animated. I recommend his class 100%
Andy Iverson is probably my favorite teacher at Harper so far. Hes extremely knowledgeable and helpful, makes the class interesting and straight to the point. He has a great attitude and is approachable! I enjoyed the summer course and definitely recommend!
Andy was by far the best science professor in my college experience so far! Microbiology was pretty fun with his teaching. Not only does he go over the chapters, but he explains everything so we know what he is talking about. His power points & study guides exactly mirror his tests which was great! I would recommend taking Andy for any class!
Took Micro over the Summer and really enjoyed the material. Professor Iverson was very knowledgeable about the subject matter, and really took time to assist when students needed help. Lab attendance is mandatory, for good reason, but lecture attendance is not. I would take a course with him again!
Microbio is a tough class, but Professor Iverson explains it to the fullest. You need to pay attention to his powerpoints and do the study guides, very detailed for all exams. Lab is fun but you need to pay attention! He's a great bio teacher who is dedicated with his job and is there to help you out!
Dr. Iverson is a good professor, but the lectures are squeezed too much, more than what you expect. He talks fast and just zoom into the lecture. My initial impression of the class is we have to stick to the syllabus which has a lot of content. The information are all in the power point though, but the power points are 40 slides long or more.
I took Micro over the summer with this professor and although the material is HARD, Andy was AWESOME! He's the best science instructor I have had and my favorite. He is great at explaining the subjects and made lab fun and interesting. Important to go to EVERY class if you want to succeed. His handouts help. TAKE NOTES ANDOR RECORD LECTURE!
Love Professor Iverson! He made the class fun and interesting. He was ALWAYS open to questions, and NEVER made me feel bad for not "getting it." His lectures were educational, interesting and made me want to learn MORE. I didn't think I would like micro, but after taking his class, would take ANY science class if he were teaching it. A++++++++
Dr. Iverson was awesome! If your wanting to take micro, take it with him! The lab is so fun and very easy points. The lectures are long but very interesting, always with PowerPoints which is very easy to study from. I definitely learned a lot and enjoyed taking this class.
He is good at keeping what could be an overwhelming subject, very interesting. Lab is structured for safety but still relaxed and actually pretty fun. This is a subject that confuses a lot of students, but Mr. Iverson never makes you feel ridiculous for asking questions. He is great at finding new and clear ways of explaining complicated ideas.
Dr. Iverson is awesome. I came into Microbiology worried my biology would be too rusty, but his pacing is top-notch. I actually learned a ton (it's very much a legit science course) without getting overwhelmed, which says a lot because I took it during the summer. Good man, good class. Take his stuff if you have the chance!
I took micro during the summer and Prof. Iverson made the class go by fast and smooth. He is approachable and made it comfortable to ask ANY question. The course is not meant to be easy but he makes it interesting and fun. I even considered changing majors! Tips: Print his power points, always go to lecture, and STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!
Dr. Iverson has passion, intelligence, and confidence. To be his student during spring has been a great choice. He is special in giving support during lab procedures. It is important to study hard and to attend his lectures if you want to succeed on exams. A beautiful subject and a perfect lab that inspires to study further in this field!
I took him during the summer semester and he was an amazing professor. Very organized and always there to help. As long as you study and go to class you'll do great! Also, he helped a lot during the labs. Just pay attention during his lab lecture and it'll go by smoothly.
Andy is intelligent and gives great lectures. Explanations for concepts are clear and he is always willing to meet with you to go over material. He is passionate about his students and wants you to succeed, just DO THE WORK!
Dr. Andrew Iverson is probably the best teacher I have ever had. He makes bacteria interesting and I throughly enjoyed attending his class... EVEN the labs which I typically dread. He's funny, approachable and you can definitely tell he loves Biology and cares about his students. A+ Teacher!
I loved this class. Andy was easily the best teacher I have ever had. He is funny, extremely intelligent, and very approachable. He makes the course fun, even if it is the hardest class I have taken. Do not take with any other professor except Andy. Make sure you study because there is a ton of material! Use the study guide, and STUDY!
Dr. Iverson is great teacher. Love the way he is proposing his ideas. Made me love microbio. He is very intelligent. U don't have to worry about the book. Don't skip his lectures, study his power points and u will get great grades. He is Genius. I thank him for productive semester
HE IS AN AMAZING TEACHER! Very clear! Lectures are not mandatory but lab attendance is. He is also very helpful and will go out of his way to help you. He is not an easy A, but if you study and attend lectures you should be fine.
Andy is amazing! I took him for micro with no intend of liking the subject but he made me like it. His tests are fairly easy once you get used to the format. DO NOT SKIP CLASS! Everything on his exams comes from his powerpoint, you don't need a book. He's very helpful and has several office hours. He's the best professor for micro! TAKE HIM!
Andy was by far one of my favorite professors at Harper. He's super chill and very helpful! Expect to study a lot for the course if you want to do well. Everything is based on lecture, no need for the textbook. Very interesting class overall, if you're a science/bio nerd like me you will love it. Would definitely take him again!!
Andy is the best professor at Harper hands down! Don't buy the book, his tests are straight from the powerpoint & there's always extra credit on them that are from the powerpoint. Easy A as long as you study! Took him for 110 & 130... He holds your hands through labs. Really genuine person! Need more people like him in the world!
took him for micro... never need the book and tests are from the ppt's... easy A love dr drew
Dr Iverson is a fantastic teacher. Although he teaches Microbiology with passion, he did a very nice job teaching us for BIO 110. He is always ready to help and extremely animate. He is loud and clear and helps students outside of class with any questions on a career related to science. Labs are easy and you do have to study as this is a Science cl
I was dreading getting my Biology requirement done, but Andy was amazing! He made the subject easy to understand, and once I tried studying for the exams I started doing very well in the class! The labs are fun and he does a great job helping with them as well. Do not spend your money on the book! The quizzes are online, and tests are based on pp.
If you plan on taking BIO 110, you must take Mr. Iverson! You must show up for most of class's because there is so much new information in each lecture, missing 2 classes will make you feel behind. He loves to see student's participate and answer any questions you may have. There are Lab exams, Lecture exams, and small quizzes.
Take him take take him. You must take him. He is always ready to help related any biology class.
I love Andy as a Professor. Super fair with grading and attendance. Don't really need the book. Test are off the ppt. Take him. He is funny too!
Andy is an awesome teacher. His lecture are clear and easy to understand. He is always in his office hours if you need help. Exams are not bad, straight questions from pp. Lab is easy if you pay attention. Gives extra credit questions on the exams which is great chance to boost your score. Highly recommend him.
Andy is an expert on microbiology and you can tell he enjoys teaching about his passion. The interesting material combined with his sense of humor makes the course captivating. He is a genuine and caring person and gives plenty of opportunities to succeed. I highly recommend you take his course, don't miss out on the best professor at Harper!
Micro is pretty easy. Labs will boost your grade, don't need to study for lab exams. Lecture exams are more tough, but follow his notes and do the study guides. DONT need the book, everything is from his powerpoints. Online quizzes, few lab quizzes + the final is open book (may use your laptop-recommend the "ppt search" option to search in notes)
Had him for Micro during the fall. You don't have to attend lectures. Lab is mandatory but fairly easy if you pay attention. You do have to study for the Lecture exams or you probably won't pass them, but they're easy if you study. Just use the study guide. Didn't use the book once. I really enjoyed his class.
Andy is an amazing professor, by far one of the best at Harper!! Andy is full of knowledge & it is easy to tell he has a passion for teaching. Tests aren't bad, all from the powerpoint. Explains everything in full detail for labs so it's impossible to mess up. Such a genuine guy. Andy actually made me enjoy biology for the first time in my life!!
The best professor in Harper, super knowledgable and explains the heavy material clearly ! Tests are mostly from power points no surprises ! Labs are fun and easy !
He made the class be easy. he lets you record lectures. His exams are multiple choice and gives extra credit. He is nice when you ask questions and is always willing to help. He is fast posting stuff in Blackboard. Quizzes are online and are not timed. So you can open it and submit after you are sure of your answer. I got an A in class :) he is gr8
One of THE BEST professors I have ever had! Andy took a hard subject and actually made you interested in the subject material. His quizzes were not bad and all you had to do was either pay attention in class or read his power points. He makes study guides which help you learn so much. Don't waste your time with others TAKE PROFESSOR iVERSION!!!
He is knowledgeable, but he is still in process of leaning how to teach. The questions that he is asking is like entrance for quantitative physics doc's degree. Be ready to read a lot and lot of tricky questions on the exams( 5 lecture and 3 lab, and many quizzes), long way to earn the grade. In general he is good teacher, but nothing special.
His exams are pretty rough, You really have to work towards learning and knowing the material. Plain memorizing won't cut it.
Overall, I would recommend this professor. The tests are VERY hard- power point heavy with tricky questions on small topics that were not discussed too much, but thanks to 15 extra credit points and an open book lecture exam, I was able to get a B in the class. Just memorizing the powerpoints doesn't cut it..
Andy is by far the best professor I have ever had at Harper. He truly has a passion for teaching and really does care about his students success. He makes a tough subject, very interesting and enjoyable. He's a tough grader and exams are tough as well, but he is so willing to help in any way he can to make sure you succeed in his class. TAKE HIM!!
His exams are overall no where near close to difficulty then at a University. Participating really helped for the exams because then when your studying for the exam you know at least the concept of whats going on. I loved taking his class and recommend to others! Do not be scared of this class be scared of taking classes when you transfer.
No words to explain how passionate Andy is about Microbiology. He is a great teacher and offers extra credit. Takes time to explain things. Did not use the textbook, used openstax. Learned a lot about biology that I didnt know I liked. Exams are off ppts and he also posts audio of lectures on YouTube. Take time to study will need it. Take Andy!!!!
Andy is such a great professor, Microbio is a hard subject in itself but he makes it interesting and clear. He is understanding and available in office hours. Definitely would recommend to take Micro with Andy!
Amazing guy, he cares so much about his students. He is also very passionate about microbiology.
Andy was an awesome professor. He cares so much about his students. He is very knowledgeable, his exams are based right off of the lectures, just attend class and pay attention and you will pass. Labs were awesome, Andy always made them fun. He offers extra credit on all of the tests. Take his class!! He is an all around genuine smart guy!
Andy was awesome! He was totally understanding and wanted to ensure that you succeeded. He cares a lot and is always there to help and kindly show you your mistakes and how to improve. He made labs so much more fun; I had been completely dreading them. He is also funny and just very sweet and an all-around awesome person. TAKE HIM!!
Nice guy, but does not round grades. Make sure you ask a lot of questions in class because the exams are not easy.
He is a chill professor but his tests are really hard and his study guides dont even help.
He is an ok professor does not really explain the material too well, his powerpoints are good but study guides do not help at all. There were 5 exams and one was open book. Lab is easy and fun, lab quizzes are easy as well. He does not round grades at all. His lectures are not as helpful. The tests are really hard and studying for them is not easy.
I got a lot out of this class. If you don't take the time to study for the exams and you don't show up for lecture you won't succeed. He's always willing to help you understand when you reach out. I would take this processor for any class taught.
Andy is amazing! He is super passionate about biology and it really shows in his lectures and in lab. Lab is really fun and he makes lectures interesting and relatable. He has study guides for all of his exams, which is a huge help! This class has a lot of info, so be prepared. Overall, I can't say enough good things about Andy, take him!
Easy but informative labs. Great lectures. Highly intelligent but with the ability to break difficult info down to a level students understand. Personable. Takes a dry subject matter and makes it interesting. His love of the the topics comes through. While this is a harder class just due to the material, he is the best choice for success
Extremely passionate about micro, it's clear through his lectures. He makes this class interesting. His study guides are extremely helpful, do them! They mimic the exam. Plenty of opportunity to boost your grade.
Very passionate about teaching. Lectures are very interesting. He is always willing to help you understand the materials. Attendance for lecture isn't required but he will take out points if you don't attend labs.
Best professor ever! So understanding and nice. Cares about each student and will take time to explain more on any questions you have.
I am so glad I took Andrew for micro. He is very real and straight forward person when it comes to tests and quizzes. There are 5 lecture exams in total and 2 lab exams if I am remembering correctly along with lab experiment tests. He gives around 3-5 extra credit on the exams as well. The class you definitely have to study and work for.
Absolutely LOVED his class, it was super fun and enjoyable. I would definitely take him again if given the chance, he's hilarious and there's never a dull moment in class :D
Andy loves what he does and it shows. He's a great professor and he made the class fun. You need to go to Labs. Lecture is not required but you need to go to do well in the class. He was helpful and kind. I really enjoyed his class and LOVED the labs. I would take him again!!!!
He is clearly passionate about teaching and the subject he teaches. Micro is gonna be lecture heavy, it is what it is. His lecture/powerpoints are extremely relevant to his exams so utilize those and pay attention. Lab exams are straightforward as long as you participate in lab and actually think through what you're doing. Overall, a cool dude.
I took Bio 130 during the summer, strictly online during COVID. I was very anxious going in to the semester, but Andy made the class enjoyable and did his best to make sure that while we had to do everything online, that we could still learn. I really enjoyed the material and learned so much. I would definitely take another class with Andy!
Andy is an awesome professor! He truly cares about his students and wants them to pass the class. He offers extra credit opportunities on tests and quizzes. He's quirky, passionate and a genuine guy. He makes the material being covered in lectures more engaging. The labs were really fun and interesting. I would take him again for any biology class
Andrew Iverson is an amazing example of how professors should teach and interact with students. He is negotiable, but he does not like people who take advantage of it. There are 5 lab exams, 2 lecture exams. Lecture exams are heavy in material, lab Exam 1 is easy if you practice, Lab Exam 2 is very tough. He also gives 1 extra credit opportunity.
Andy is a friendly, caring and funny professor. He responds quickly through email and helps as much as he can given the circumstances. He does review sessions every week which help a lot so I recommend going to those! It is a very difficult class but theres a lot of points offered and hes great at teaching. Do your work and ask for help!
the lab portion of the class was explained well & was easy to understand/follow. Lecture was difficult for me. study guides very vague! actual test questions were worded differently than in study guides and confused me a lot, if he could make his lecture exams straightforward and easy to understand like his lab material he would have been amazing!
Andrew was a very good professor. Lecture is a bit much and studying is required for this, but lab was extremely clear and easy. He is a very easy grader. Lots of extra credit given. When it comes to emailing him, it can be difficult. He does respond fast, but he doesn't really answer your question and he answers it a different way that doesnt help
I took this as a summer course (2021) and it was fully online. Weekly lab exercises and quizzes, as well as the occasional lab exam/lecture exam. Lecture/Lab videos were very well done and he would explain everything thoroughly. If you watch the videos and read the book, you're set.
TAKE THIS TEACHER. He loves microbiology and it makes you excited to learn more about it. The labs are particularly well explained and you will know very easily how to perform the various tests and experiments if you pay attention. I feel as though he really wants to share his passion with students and genuinely wants every single student to pass.
Lab was easy to follow, if you watch the video youre good. But lectures was super hard. Get ready to see unexpected questions. Doesnt give enough extra credits, and tough grader. It was very difficult to take the exams online.
This was perhaps the most well organized online class I have had to take so far. Lecture is a bit tough (it's microbiology), but if you stick to the PowerPoints you should be fine. Lab was great for an online course, the videos are really well done and helped to do the assignments each week.
Andy is extremely passionate and funny. He took the time to thoroughly explain everything in his lecture and lab videos. He also gave a lot of extra credit opportunities! I took this class w physiology so it was definitely not easy. But if you take the time to study and keep up w homework, you should be fine! Good luck! Hope this helps someone!
Very clear syllabus and grading criteria. His lectures are among the easiest to follow and if you simply pay attention the material will stick. He made labs very fun and is very clear answering questions. His tests stick well to the study guides HE makes which make the material easy to memorize. Take his class and you'll pass for sure!
This professor is the main person who convinced me to stay in school and work hard. He gives very encouraging advice, and offered useful resources. His blackboard and instructions were very clear, and useful in studying for the exams/ tests/ etc. It is very important to make sure you advocate for yourself, participate, and ask questions.
I took his online version and he made it very easy to learn and what to do. Labs every weeks with videos (WATCH!!!)if you understand the concepts, you'll have no problem getting an A on them. Tests are a bit difficult but he made them available online and used information from the PowerPoints (recordings). Overall great and a very understa professo
Dr.Iverson is easily the best professor I have ever had. Not hard to tell he enjoys what he does and cares about his students understanding the material & succeeding. Very straight forward with labs, quizzes, & exams. Lots of lecture material but he makes it fun (lots of jokes) & answers emails very quickly. Just study & attend labs for an easy A.
Recommend taking this course blended if you can! Heavy lectures but the labs were stright forward. Funny guy, super chill and nice and he is very good at explaining and clarifying. Lecture exams are pretty tough though. 11/10 would take again.
Made me consider pursuing microbiology
Great professor. If more people would teach like him more people would stay in stem
Andy is the GOAT!! of all stem profs. Somehow turned microbiology into something so genuinely interesting. He takes difficult material and actually explains it so its easy to understand. Also extremely clear on what's on his tests. If you take the time to review the study guide, you will get 90s on exams EASY. Lab was also lots of fun. Best prof fr
if you're taking this as a gen ed and bio isnt your strong suit be ready to take good notes. otherwise a very good and respectable prof. attendance is mandatory though it was only once a week for lab and if you find the right group it's not bad at all. would take again
If you are looking for a teacher for micro, look no further. Iverson is the absolute best! If you do the study guides, you will pass the tests with all A's. He truly makes micro so interesting. The lectures are engaging and fun. Labs are easy if you focus and read your manual. Best professor Ive had so far. You still have to try, if you want an A.
Great professor, definitely would recommend if credit is required. Lectures are heavy, but has recordings of his lectures which are helpful and easy to understand. There are a total of 5 lecture exams and 2 lab exams, lab quizzes almost every week. Study guides are useful and cover all topics on the exams. Put in effort and you will end with an A.
I'd recommend Iverson to anyone that's taking microbiology. If you attend/watch the lectures, and do the study guides and the practice quizzes he gives out for each exam, you should have no problem getting an A or B on the exams. I feel like he also cares a lot more about his students than most professors as well. Take him if you have the chance.
Andrew is great instructor! Clear information, great exams. Easy to prepare for tests if you listen and take notes during lectures. Didn't really use textbook. PowerPoints are available on blackboard. Considering that Microbiology is not an easy subject, the way he teaches and explains everything is awesome. Would take him again if needed
HE IS THE BEST. Take Andy if you need to take BIO! Science was always my least favorite subject, but Andy made it so easy for me to learn and understand. Just make sure you pay attention in class and take notes, and go to his office hours before exams for extra help.
I enjoyed taking his Biology 110 class. He is passionate about the subject material and a clear grader. He gives ample extra credit and I don't know why anyone would have an issue with him. He clearly cares if you give him that same energy. Lectures are not mandatory. He uploads a review of each exam that is available on blackboard. Great vibes :)
Great professor all around. Clear grading and has a review of each exam that is available on Blackboard. He has extra credit available on every lab quiz and it adds up if you know the material. You have to get good grades on the exams to pass. I recommend him.
I am taking this class to fulfill my degree program, even though my major is not related to Bio or the medical field. His lecture and lab are fun and interactive with students, the lecture is long and heavy, but he is willing to help students to get through it. Just take notes and study for the Lab quiz then it's easy to get an essay A.
Dr. Iverson is an excellent professor committed to student success; his lectures are concise/engaging, and the exams are derived from in-class PowerPoints. Lab attendance is mandatory, however none of them are objectively difficult and he will be there to address any concerns. He really is a nice guy, and provides ample extra credit opportunities.
Soooo sweet, really funny, understanding guy. I'm not a fan of the subject at all but he makes the class interesting and actually super easy as long as you just pay attention. Definitely recommend him
I adore him! He's a great professor!
Professor Iverson was great. Very understanding and super thorough in his lectures. Very accessible outside of class and flexible. I retook this class this semester and am so glad I was able to take it with him. He made the work make sense. Be prepared to study.
