His enthusiasm is catchy! He makes things funny and interesting. The readings aren't too bad, and his grading is straight-forward. The lectures are entertaining and he seems like a really good guy.
He's a nice guy and everything is pretty much straightforward...my problem wiht the class though is that it is TOO easy..sometimes it seems like he's trying to "talk down to our level"...pretty much an easy "A"
Great teacher! Really easy to understand...maybe a bit to easy.
The most laid back teacher I have taken @ MC! He is very enthusiastic about teaching Archaeology and makes it interesting for those of us who don't really care for it. His tests are a little hard though, but other than that you are guaranteed an A.
AWSOME TEACHER!
VERY FRIENDLY & COMICAL TEACHER WHO DOESN'T HAVE A CLUE... A QUOTE FROM ONE OF HIS LECTURES FOLLOWS "THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY BRAIN!" TRUE ENOUGH. ANOTHER QUOTE "BUMMER FOR THE OLD WORLD, NOTHING TO SMOKE!" FAVORITE LENGTH OF TIME "DAYS." IF YOU WANT EASY CREDITS, TAKE THIS CLASS.
Awesome teacher, kind of crazy but he keeps you awake and interested. Tests are easy if you've studied your notes, and he almost never keeps you till the end of class!
funny guy test are a bit hard but study ur notes and its a piece of cake recommend to take this teacher
Even though this class seemed like it was going to be so boring, he made it really interesting. He was my favorite professor last semester just because he is so enthusiastic and passionate about what he is teaching. He is really funny to listen to also, it's like listening to Jim Carrey teach Anthro
Andrew is great! His class is nver boring and I either is he. He is Mr Personality so that helps, so far he is one of my fav professors at Moorpark. I would take him again if I had the opprotunity. He has a lot to offer and is very fair.
i enjoyed the class very much last semester...i learned more than i thought i would about things i never really was interested in...he makes the class fun and exciting and is very entertaining...his stories are always funny
Awesome teacher - the type of professor that a student can identify with, and is not intimidating. His stories are a riot and add to his energy and the class. Class is a fairly easy A, just so long as you study your notes a bit, and pay attention in class. I would love to take another class of his.
After looking foreward to this class as much as I did, perhaps my hopes were too high. The class seemed thrown together & very broad. Three books were chosen, one was aweful & another did not really get used. As this was his first semester teaching at Moorpark he could be more organized now.
loved this class! I only took this class to fill time between classes, now i might make it my major.
Great Teacher, Very interesting subject. You can tell this is his passion and it shows in his work. If your interested in Anthropology or Archaeology or even if your not he'll get you motivated enough to make you switch your major. If you pay attention and review notes before tests. you'll get an A
The only way you can fail is if you are a totally helpless. He teaches it so you remember, not so he looks smart.
great teacher want to take another class with him, he even got my friend to switch majors. I highly recomend him
Very easy teacher. His class is based on 3 tests, 3 papers. Test questions are based on lectures, articles, story and terms from the book. Very funny and cute. I recommend anyone who wants a good grade in anthro to take him.
i enjoyed going to his class. Show up to class everyday and take good notes.
The wildest most enthusiastic teacher you'll ever have...even at 9 at night. Great motivater!
LOVED this guy.
I loved this guy...i got a big crush on him after taking his class...what can i say a guy who knows alot and makes you want to know more is really attractive
This teach is awesome. He's a very down to earth, young, fun teacher. He smiles a lot and he just seems like a cool guy, more like some friend you'd go out to a bar with then someone teaching you Anthro. I *highly* suggest you take this class if you've been considering it.
This man is wicked awesome! He is so enthusiastic and the class is so fun even at 7:00 at night. If you ever wanted to take an archeology class, this is the class! Have fun future students of Professor Kinkella!
Awesome teacher! Very easy going and approachable, but still has a good grasp of his field. I look forward to this class every week. Really easy class as well, show up, and you should at least pass, take notes, and it'd be a challenge to get worse than a C. Oh yeah, and he's hot to boot!
he's nice, he's fun and he's cute! :)
Aww what can I say! Awsome class! Highly recomeded! Fun classes! He makes them interesting and gets you involved, while teaching. Hes someone you can respect and is very understanding. So what r u waiting for! Go sign up!
Probably the best professor EVER!!! He is so much fun. He's way down to earth, he eats junk food in class, and he kinda reminds me of Jim Carrey, actually. Three projects, two midterms, and a final. I never even really read the book, I just paid attention and got an A! Awesome teacher, you have to take him!!! Go sign up now!
Kinkella is awesome. I'm in a class with him and another with Baker. Kinkella is awesome. I may take Archaeology with him this summer if it doesn't interfere with moving/transferring to 4-year. You can't go wrong with the Kink, he is the man. I don't think theres ever been a slow day where nobody laughs.
Kinkella is the best! So funny, he should be a comedian. He's always so enthusiastic about EVERYTHING! Very open to any comments or questions in class. It doesn't matter if you have no interest in Archeology: class is never boring! Take him, even if you don't need the credits. He also happens to be cute :)
i can be redundant....but i agree with everything said about him & more!!you'll learn quite a bit...like this video he shows about a dog that lives up to his name,Patience...but if you just look at KINK it will all be fine...like HIM of course
Easy, easy, class. Some of the videos are really stomach-turning, but if it bothers you, you can leave for a few minutes. He makes you eat some weird tacos too. You have to write 1 paper on a classmate, 1 on where you work, and the tests + quizzes are easy. Book wise, just buy the Annual Editions and forget the other textbook, you'll do fine.
Im in love
Kinkella made this class interesting. He is very energetic when he talks about archaeology and also brings a lot of good stories and personal experiences to the classroom. Tests are very straightforward and going to class is fun. He took our class to a Mayan exhibit that was awesome. He’s a really fun teacher.
Good teacher enjoyed his class recommend if you need a teacher that keeps the class interested won't fall asleep in this class!
This guy is a lot of fun :) didn't know what to expect from anthro but i ended up really enjoying his class a definite favorite and he's cute enough to make one wonder if students are allowed to date professors? if you go to class you'll probably get an A, if you read you're guaranteed
dont be fooled, although he is a great professor his midterms are extremely difficult!! the class is not an easy A.
the best teacher I've had at MC... no joke. Tests are WAY easy if you've paid attention in class. Assigments- very minimal reading and two or three EASY projects. In all honesty, he reminds me of Jim Carrey! I laughed so much in his class, he is so great! Take notes and you're sure to get an A! You'll be recommending him to all your friends, too!
He's very entertaining but he also knows what he's talking about and teaches well. The test's are easy enough if you study and overall the class is fine as long as you do the work. He's a major hotty as well!
really entertaining teacher. his tests arent easy but it is a good class. i recommend him.
Nice guy that moves like Jim Carrey which keeps you entertained. Super Qorky and passionate, and knows anthro well but not an easy class. Lots of info, zoo trip and ethogram assignment. Can be disorganized and wont cut you slack if your not trying.Over all i would take another class with him cuz he is really nice and you'll get a good grade
He rocks
easy teacher.take it. study for tests.
Easy teacher... but what the hell was he teaching?
I had him for Phys. Anth. & Archaeology (my major) and he is an AWESOME teacher. Pay attention, take notes, and ask questions. I aced both classes. He's also really fun and friendly, and makes class very interesting!
Kinkella is the best teacher I've had! Friendly, entertaining, and completely random at times. One whole lecture of Physical Anthro comprised of 2 rules: 1) when in Belize, DON'T TOUCH THE MONKEY and 2) Monkeys are smart little mofos. I suggest taking one of his classes just for the hell of it!
Both archeologist and comedian. It wasn't until the last 2 sessions that he actually showed up less than 10 minutes late. Found it hard to speak with him as his time was monopolized by his legion of archeology minions.
he is a good teacher he kept me interest and is pretty funny which helps. some of the topics are bit confusing and the tests can be difficult if you dont do all of the readings and taking good notes is a must.
This professor is recommended. Classes are interesting and there is no homework besides reading. You need to read to pass this class. This professor has a lot of real world experience which makes lectures go by quickly. Take him for Cultural Anthro..
good teacher. helpful. lots of reading though.
Very interesting lectures. Loves his work and has vast field work. Write down the lectures, movies and slides. Study notes. The main book is not used. Read the required sections in supplimental books, because there are test questions. You will get an A. No HW except 1 project.
As long as you take the tests, do the homework, and attend class, you will get an A! ;) haha duh. We're only a third through the semester and we were talking about this website today so I'm rating him. He's a really good teacher and I actually care about this subject, something I wouldn't have imagined. Just don't talk in the back...
great teacher, but the material can be boring at times. he tries his best to make it interesting. tests are all directly from the articles and notes so make sure to review them all. no quizes just 2 midterms and the final. they are all somewhat equal in length. field projects were fun helped your grade if you did poorly on a test. great teacher.
He's a great teacher and has a great sense of humor. He really tries to make the material interesting. Pay attention and take notes and don't let the Zoo Trip write-up fool you, you really do need to work on it. He's serious when it comes to grading them. I would definitely take another class with him.
He is such a good teacher. He makes learning anthropology fun...I took his archeology class, and I would recommend you to take it. I got an A..all you need to do is keep up with reading the articles, and take good notes in class...he just talks a little fast, but he is clear, and will repeat things if you ask..amazing guy.
i agree. similar to a zach braff.fun class, 3 hours @nite but kept interesting to keep everyone awake. cool subject to learn about. attendance mandatory, doesnt take role but i missed 1 class and failed that midterm brought my grade to D but still enjoyed class somewhat. will definantly take anothe class from this professor
nice and funny teacher but has the attention span of a goldfish. he is a better entertainer than an actual teacher. takes role maybe 3 times the whole semester. EXTREMELY vague when teaching. he will tell you that you only need his notes from class on tests but then tests you on things from the book.
BEST TEACHER EVER! HE IS TOTALLY ANIMATED AND MAKES ANTHRO INTERESTING, WHAT A CONCEPT HUH. BE SURE TO BE THERE FOR THE EXCRUCIATING 3 QUESTION QUIZZES AND TESTS. HE'S THE BEST. WATCH OUT THO EVERYONE WANTS IN HIS CLASS
Most enthusiastic, animated, exuberant person there is on this earth. This guy is awesome; he makes the subject really interesting and it's impossible to tune out when he's talking. Plus, he's hysterical. I'm smiling so much in this class that my face aches when I leave. If you don't take his class, you're missing out.
Took some classes with him a few semesters back and he was horrible as a professor. I don't think he really knows much about anthropology and he took forever to return exams/assignments. Most students like him because he is entertaining, but you really learn nothing in his classes.
Let's just say he is listed in my heroes section on Myspazz XD He is seriously the most interesting, most hilarious guy and you will love everything about his class! Even the paper you have to write is fun and easy! I highly recommend him.Just read all the chapters in the books and you will do just fine! Oh and show up for class.Lots of movies!
Ah geez. If this guy's not the man i dont know who is. He's so easy going and funny! Tells it how it is. He can't endorse not using the book but most the stuff is on the lectures and notes. Those are the biggest things. One two tests and a final. Easiest class i've ever taken.
This guy is a joke. Wants to be the cool teacher instead of being a good teacher. Not at all responsible when it comes to class. Disorganized, always late, and takes forever to return graded assignments. Not sure how he got this job.
Great guy. Very funny and easy to talk to. He makes class interesting and fun. He explains things very well. You have 3 tests and a research paper that you are graded on. As long as you attend class and READ THE ARTICLES then you will do just fine. I would recommend taking a class with him but don't expect him to give you any outside help.
I LOVE his class. He's one of the best teachers i've had in a while, and definitely one of the best at Moorpark. He's really funny and always makes the classes really interesting so it's not a drag to sit through it. He's super funny, helpful, and not to mention hot haha. I definitely suggest his class, it's great.
great teacher, he actually cares about his students and is pretty entertaining. just an overall really nice guy, pretty lenient when it comes to grades
His class was really interesting. Great discussions, awesome videos, easy tests.
If you like structured classes do not take! He is very entertaining, but he is not organized with his lesson plan or grading system. The way to get an A is just to know the key terms and read the assigned articles. Half of the test is on his lecture materials and movies in class so I recommend going to class and taking light notes.
Cultural Anthro: A worthy teacher indeed. Entertaining, easy-going,and concise, he's as good of a CA teacher one could ever have. As for assignments: 3 non-cumulative MTs and a research paper. Tests are mostly vocab and a little reading from article texts. While a little lax at times, he's surely the best anthro teacher at Moorpark. Easy A...
Kinkella's archaeology class was great! I loved hearing all of his experiences with the field of archaeology. He ties in his experiences and relates it to the lesson with slide shows. At other times, he goes over terms. Although the terms were somewhat boring, I was able to stay focused because of his teaching style. I learned much and enjoyed it!
I have taken cultural anthropology, archaeology, and egyptology plus am taking chumash anthro this semester. Kinkella is an amazing teacher. He teaches in a way that keeps you interested about 80% of the time. Some slides can get a little boring but the class is easy. All the test are simple and in high school form. Easy plus Great Great professor!
He was so cool. Made me laugh pretty much every lecture. Very charming...I sat in the very front everyday just so I could absorb every min of his class. He was also incredibly attractive, and I fantasized about him often, which hurt my notes. LOL but no worries, it's all in the text!
This is the best teacher i have had! He is interesting, funny, and really wants you to do well. I would deff take his class again!
VERY INTERESTING CLASS, I REALLY ENJOY IT. THE TEACHER IS ALSO VERY ENTERTAINING ALWAYS TRYING TO MAKE THE CLASS PARTICIPATE. THE TESTS ARE OK, PRETTY STRAIGHT FORWARD, NO ACTUALLY QUIZZES SO YOUR GRADE DEPENDS ON THE 3 TESTS, A PAPER, AND PARTICIPATION. MY ADVICE IS JUST TO MAINLY FOLLOW HIS NOTES ON THE DEFINITIONS AND READ THE ARTICLES.
KINKELLA IS THE BOMB!!
Andrew is quite possibly the best teacher I've had so far at this school. He genuinely loves what he does, and makes the class a lot of fun. He's pretty laid-back but still knows how to keep the class under control, and the work load is easy to keep up with.
Super fun guy, makes learning fun. He's far from stuffy and he's VERY casual. He made the class really interesting. Exams aren't too bad so long as you take notes during the lectures and then study from them. Highly recommend him. He does a great job of keeping the class engaged and entertained. Lots of class participation in lectures.
I've had Andrew quite a few times and every time his classes are so interesting and I learn so much. If you go to every class, take notes, and pay attention you're going to get a good grade. Usually only one of his books end up being more important so when he says which one is more important before a test, buy that one and read it. He's awesome!
If you don't do well in his class it's your fault. Easy going, not a lot of rules but if you break them you are screwed. Awesome class! Fun guy!
Is it me, or does Dr. Kinkella look a lot like Paul Rudd?
Kinkella has a bit of a reputation for being awesome, and his Cultural Anthropology class definitely proved that. My only comment is that he's a little late about getting test/papers back, but nothing to get worked up over. The material is fascinating, and the man is simply hilarious. You will look forward to going to this class, I promise.
Kinkella is hilarious. His class is like a stand up comedy routine and he gets everyone really interested in the material which happens to be interesting as well. You will never want to miss this class and if you don't take it you are missing out! I recommend him to everyone because he is my favorite teacher at Moorpark by far!
Andrew is very charismatic
Andrew is very charismatic and funny, and it's clear that he loves anthropology. The class is straight forward & not hard to get an A in. Thee most important thing is to attend every class, listen, and take notes (read the articles too). There's a project, but it's not hard. He definitely makes the class interesting. Definitely recommend
Best professor ever.. Passionate about what he teaches, cares about how well his students are doing. He's funny which makes the class enjoyable as well as interesting. If you study your notes and pay attention during class, you'll ace everything.. You really do learn a lot in his class and what you learn is awesome. He's also kinda hot ;)
I have never enjoyed my time in a class room more than in Kinkella's archaeology class. He gives you the academic lessons and the hands on experience of archaeology. He makes the history fun, and makes learning the techniques easy. Professors like this deserve a letter grade better than A+.
This is NOT a structured class, so if you like structured classes (do not take! this class) Not at all responsible Disorganized, and takes forever to return graded assignments..
wow. i wonder why my previous comment was flagged.. but all i can say is be on his good side. he practices favoritism. miss two classes and work hard and earn a C.
This teacher is amazing!! Only missed his class once beacause i was really sick. but i went to each class because he makes his class so interesting! He has many great stories to share and is very handsome also. Very charismatic and above all an easy A. I simply love the way he teaches...will def take another one of his classes again!!!
Awesome teacher. Always 5 or 10 mins late but who cares. So so funny, such a cool guy. Only 2 tests an the final. No hw. Hilarious take him!
Nice teacher. Love his style of teaching. Tests weren't that bad as long as you come to class and take notes you will pass. He is really funny. I did not dread coming to class every week.
Best class I've ever taken. He's funny and really knows his stuff. Attendance isn't necessarily mandatory but make sure you read the articles and go to class! You'll enjoy it and his tests are based on the notes you'll take. He even helped us by talking about what to do when you want to transfer schools.
I took Archaeology with him and he was awesome. Yes, he took a while to hand back tests, but that was the only drawback. As long as you come to class, the textbook isn't really important, but read the articles! He is passionate and an incredible storyteller. Plus he's hot, so there you go.
I took the class at night and was never bored. The lectures are interesting and fun. Just study the notes and the tests will be easy. There is also one writing assignment which is pretty simple. Great teacher.
These are all the classes I have taken with Kinkella... M02 Cultural Anthro, M60J Egyptology, M03 Archaeology, M10 Saturday Field Lab, M16 Ancient Maya, M06 Native American Studies. Best teacher I have ever taken, hands down. People practically fight to get in his classes. He is interesting, fun and helpful. I think that about sums it up :)
I had taken Kinkella a while back before I transferred and he was pretty awesome. He is laid back but still watchful. And for the fool that said they missed 2 classes and got a C that is an extreme exaggeration. Just don't act like an idiot and mildly pay attention and you will do just fine.
Even someone who sucks at life like me, can pass this class with and A. Awesome teacher. -T.A.
BEST TEACHER AT MOORPARK
he's just about the most entertaining professor i've ever had, guaranteed to make you laugh. he's funny and presents the material in interesting ways, and also effectively preps you for essays and tests. his class was the only one i liked during that semester.
Nice guy, great professor. Made the class fun, and a joy to take. Did decent despite me having the textbook. Connects very well with his students, and makes learning downright fun.
I recommend taking any of his classes, but I had him for Arch. Very fun lectures, he makes everything funny and exciting to listen to. Definitely not going to be bored or dreading class. He is late to class, but only about 5-10 minutes, which isn't that much of a dealbreaker. Totally worth the money.
Take good notes & you'll be set. Other than that, Kinkella is thee best teacher i've had in college. I had him Monday nights for three hours and was never bored for second. He has the best stories and is one of the funniest people i've ever met. RECOMMENDED!
Awesome professor. Had him for cultural anthro, and am going to take him for archeology.
He was entertaining yes, but this was his first time teaching this class, so his lectures were always very scattered and he was never necessarily preparing us for the test because he didn't even know what was on it till the night before when he wrote it. I'd take him again, but stay away from M06 till he irons things out.
He's super funny. I laughed out loud every day in his class. It was a brand new course so it was difficult figuring out what was going on but it ended up being interesting & he actually converted me to wanting to be an anthro major! He's super helpful in office hours too. Take him!
Kinkella has an awesome personality and that's basically why most his classes are always full. Attendance is mandatory! There are 2 test 1 final 1 project and participation. He kinda has an unforgiving point system. Does not offer extra credit. Is sometimes late and takes forever to grade stuff. But his class is fun. MUST STUDY HARD for an A.
All Time FAVORITE! He had the whole class laughing every week. He takes a while to get tests back, but he's an overall GREAT professor. As long as you study for the tests, the class is an absolute joy! Very interesting, and very easy to understand. So very fun!
Seriously the greatest professor I have had. He reminds me a lot of Dane Cook most days. He kept the class interesting and made a lot of information manageable, as long as you take good notes, you will be set.
Wonderful experience! Yes you need to take notes and study for the tests but totally worth it. I looked forward to each class. He is so full of energy and knowledge and really keeps you engaged in the class. Great Stories of his experiences too! :)
Took most of his classes. He's hilarious, he's helpful, he knows how to keep the students involved. Very strict rules, but I've never had a problem. MUST show up, but trust me, you'll want to. Easy tests, usually 3 (including final, same grade as all others). Not cumulative! Very bad about returning grades/papers on time, though. Take him!
All fluff and no content. He should teach and not entertain. Very sparse when it came to specific facts like dates. Late every class at least 15 minutes. Not respectful of students. I don't think he's and effective teacher.
Yes, you have to study for his class, but you will probably be so entertained that you won't feel like studying is a chore! He is kinda like Kramer from Seinfeld. As a Bio major, he made uninteresting material actually really fun for me. Tho there is no mercy for slackers, take him!
Kinkella is very entertaining and loves to teach. Attendance is important because he shows videos that are on the tests. Don't text in class because he will give you a 0 in participation. The only problem I had was that he started class late. Overall, funny & hot, take his class!
im just finishing college so i have had tons of teachers and he is by far the best ever-his class is more like a comedy show and not a class. hes late most of the time-no phones, easy tests, one 5page paper(but its easy)over all really fun class-take him
BEST TEACHER EVER!!! He is very lax and understanding. Tests are easy as pie. essay/paper is not that bad. Fun class. Who would have thought anthropology could be fun?
Hilarious and hot. It was hard to concentrate on taking notes because I kept fantasizing about him.
this teacher is horrible. he is funny but the tests are very hard. His lectures make it seem like the tests will be easy but theyre not at all. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
Kinkella made lectures interesting and told funny stories. If you take notes and study, you'll do fine on his three (non-cumulative) tests. He also posts articles online, so make sure to read those. The book generally supplements the lecture material but it's not really necessary to read. I got an A and would DEFINITELY take a class with him again.
Took Kinkella for M02 and M03. His class is really fun and he's a great lecturer who will keep your attention. good stories and moderate workload. His tests are slightly more difficult than I expected from such a chill type of guy, but with some effort, A's are definitely possible. I would definitely recommend him!
Very easy to understand. Super clear and fun to listen to. Tests are mostly lecture based. 3 tests not cumulative. Tests are a little more difficult the you'd expect. Write notes on everything he says. One annotated bibliography near the end of the semester. Pretty easy A class
Easy class. Funny teacher. Tests are totally based on lecture so class attendance is necessary. He tells you to buy the book but I didn't read a single chapter and received an A. Be sure to read the articles he posts on the website
I got a B+ because I didn't show up half the time, so that says a lot. He is absolutely hilarious and I loved being in his class. I think the hot rating up there is personality based, because he's not Ryan Reynolds or anything, but I loved him. Really knows his stuff and has the best stories. TAKE HIM! :)
Really nice and funny lecturer. He made ancient Egypt stories actually sound relevant and interesting! Definitely had to study for the tests to get an A but not too much work other than that. It's nice to take a class where you're not bored. He starts class late and ends early too which is nice! Take him!
Great guy and teacher. He obviously LOVES what he studys and it makes all the difference. do not buy the book i didnt open mine once and I got an A. DO YOUR SKELETON JOURNAL. and do it well. If you happen to be a Whovian maybe wear a mention it sometime... he will love you. hehehehe
Great guy, hilarious, passionate about Archaeology, tells entertaining stories. He isn't the 'easiest' teacher though; you really have to study the notes, ALL of it. Rarely uses the book, but in order to do well on the exams you HAVE to study the notes and read ALL the readings he posts online; that's a decent portion of the test. Not too difficult
Take his class! I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and he actually inspired me to want to become an archaeologist. He is hilarious and always entertaining during his lectures. There is practically no hw except for one final project. His tests aren't that hard if you pay attention to lecture and do the reading.
This isn't the easiest class in the world, but if you show up and take notes you will pass no problem. He is a really nice guy and is funny and a little goofy. Comes to class late all the time but other than that I have no complaints.
HILLARIOUS so funny and interesting. Very passionate about his career and makes you love it too. Not hard as long as you put in the effort. Tests are a little difficult but I've had worse. HIGHLY recommended he is an awesome professor!
Kinkella is super funny! You can tell he is very passionate about what he teaches. Tests are very easy. The only homework is to read some articles, which are very interesting and definitely not a chore.
Extremely passionate about anthropology! Super funny and keeps the class interested. Loved this class especially because he was really nice and helpful! Take him!
Great professor! He's very animated and passionate about what he teaches. I took him for Mysteries of the Ancient Maya and considering he was a Maya archaeologist he is incredibly knowledgable about the subject. If you take good notes and attend the classes devoted to test review the class will be a breeze. He definitely makes it very interesting.
Best instructor i've ever had no doubt. Knows and is actively involved in his field. A lot of engaging activities, keeps class fun. No homework other than reading articles, tests are fair. Basically everything you need is from notes or articles. Overall great class, AMAZING professor. definitely recommend.
My absolute favorite professor I've ever had, I've gone on to UCSD and I miss his style of teaching more than anything!
Dr Kinkella ROCKS. I wasn't interested in archaeology/anthro before taking his class but he makes it seem SO fun and cool. No homework except reading articles and doing the skeleton journal. Tests are okay, not too hard if you study well. He's engaging, fun, and there to help if you need it. I definitely recommend him!!
Started my college experience off so greatly. Probably best professor I will ever get to take. Great overall guy. Extremely funny. Helpful if you need help. Easy class, do not really need to read the book much. Always 15 minutes late but worth waiting for! Take his class!
I've only had one other teacher in my life that taught so well, and was completely clear on everything. Kinkella, has to be the best teacher at Moorpark, hands down! His form of teaching is nothing short of amazing, I wish there was some way he could teach every class I need. If you ever have the chance to take one of Kinkella's classes do it!
He has experience in the theater world, so he's part-entertainer, part-teacher. Tests involve some essay portions, but you can bullet point them, so they're easy so long as you paid attention. Readings are mostly interesting. He is unforgiving about cell phones. But the class is super fun. Remember to put your skeleton journal in a report folder!
So far the only teacher I've had that legitimately seems excited to show up to work. Went into this class thinking it would be horrible boring but after a couple lectures I really enjoyed showing up to it. Loved this class - good guy, great teacher. Don't think I ever used the textbook.
Hands down the BEST professor ever! I actually looked forward to his class every week. Very entertaining with a sarcastic sense of humor. Attend class, read articles, take good notes and memorize them for the exam, do skeleton journal in its entirety! I didn't read the book once. If my scheduled allowed I would take all his classes.
One of the best professors I have ever had hands down. Super chill. Great sense of humor and he knows what he's talking about. He will make you want to become an archaeologist. It was impossible not to smile at least once in his class. I suggest if you can take one of his classes!
BEST TEACHER EVER. He is so funny and makes class fun!! Seriously the one class I always look forward to every week! Even when I don't want to go to class, I get there and it easily becomes the greatest day! He knows his stuff like the back of his hand, and really prepares you for tests. YOU MUST TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM!!!!
Kinkella is the man! This class was one that I always enjoyed going to. He is entertaining and it keeps the class engaged. Definently learned a lot and would take another class. Tests are straight forward and you need to show up every class. It is a lecture class for sure. Would recommend no doubt!
Dr. Kinkella was an awesome teacher. He made me want to come to class every week. I took his class "Intro to Archaeology" and remember this is just an introduction type class. Its not a hard one to pass. I really enjoyed his lectures and the coursework was equally engaging! Highly recommended if you need an Anthropology type credits!
I took two Anthro classes from Mr. Kinkella and I highly recommend him. It is not easy to earn an A, but he makes learning different anthropologies obsessive. His method of teaching is fun and interesting.
This man changed my life forever, and he is the best professor I have ever had. If you aren't satisfied from what you get from his classes, then you probably aren't looking for the right things in life. That's just the way it is.
Very passionate about anthropology & archaeology. Took his class over summer in 4 WEEKS! He talks about his experiences that help you remember the topics you are learning in class. Ask him any question, you feel very comfortable to talk to him.Only had to read articles and the textbook, very interesting. Hilarious, fun, BEST teaching instructions.
His methods are better than any prof. I've had.Passionate about anthropology & archaeology.Took his class over summer in 4 WEEKS! He shares topics that will help you understand the topics you are learning in class. He is easy to talk to, wants you to learn.Read articles and the textbook, very interesting. Hilarious, fun, BEST teaching instructions.
His methods of teaching are great. Very passionate about anthropology & archaeology. Took his class over summer in 4 WEEKS! He shares topics that will help you understand the topics you are learning in class. He is easy to talk to, wants you to learn. Read articles and the textbook, very interesting. Hilarious, fun, BEST teaching instructions.
Took his BioAnthro class over the summer, only a 4 week course . Fast paced, though still manageable. Lectures were fun & easy to follow, the reading however could be heavy & boring. There's 3 large tests, & there's a large project normally, but it was removed for the shortened course. Overall easy, but time consuming with lots of reading.
Kinkella is the best! He made me change my major to anthropology! His lectures are so funny and interesting, you keep wanting to learn more. You get to do an actual archaeological dig in the earth shell and other fun projects. One of the coolest teachers you will meet!
Loved this professor! So funny, so entertaining! I took his Intro to Archaeology class to fill up general eds (I'm a bio major) and LOVED it. His lectures consist mostly of him telling stories about his adventures. Great storyteller. Tests weren't too bad, but attendance is crucial. He doesn't give his lectures so you just have to be there.
Dr. Kinkella is a great professor; however, the book used for class is THE driest Anthropology text I have ever read. The tests can be somewhat difficult, but the main project is fun and is worth more points than an individual test.
This class was worth my time! He's like a comedian with all his great stories he tells from his archaeology adventures, knows when to be serious too, and is great with the class. His lectures are always interesting, never used the book. No homework. Just a "Skeleton Journal" that needs to be turned in at the end of the semester and 3 exams. D
Hes a really funny guy. He has some great stories about his adventures. Pretty easy class , an 87% is a an A. I loved this class
Kinkella is a great teacher! He is hilarious and really enjoys what he teaches. He likes to joke around which leaves his lectures fun and interesting. He knows what he is talking about and really wants his students to do well. Attendance is mandatory and when in class do not touch your phone! Also, NEVER cheat! You will get caught!
Professor Kinkella is HILARIOUS. He makes lectures fun, 2 midterms, a final, & the skeleton journal. You don't need the book. Don't cheat, and don't use your phone. AND don't give him any BS excuses, cause he will not tolerate it. Take him!
ANDY IS AMAZING. Everyone has to take a bio class for general Ed and if you don't take it with Andrew you are missing out. He is hilarious and will make you laugh so hard while still teaching you clearly and effectively! He had review days before the tests and the tests are really easy as long as you study what you reviewed! He is Paul Rudd's twin.
Kinkella's lectures keep you interested. He is really funny and passionate. If I could take more classes with him outside of the two I have already taken, I definitely would. Great teacher.
Kinkella has been my favorite teacher so far. If you want to pass you need to study the material and actually show up, but everything from his lectures to his tests are super straight forward. He makes anthro fun and interesting too!
Kinkella is one of my favorite professors I have ever taken. He has so much passion for his subject. I love that he always has different stories to share that correlate with each lesson. He's funny and makes class interesting. His tests are part MC and part essay. Just make sure you come to class and read the readingsbook and you will do well.
AMAZING teacher! I've taken for multiple classes but was every helpful in Bio Anthro. Take notes on lectures and his power points and you'll pass. Tells you exactly whats on each test. Will always answer your questions and is extremely helpful. Also, VERY funny! Makes class go by and makes it fun. Highly recommend you take him!! Awesome professor!
Kinkella is the best! Took Archaeology with him and it was so much fun! He lectures the whole class, but he is so funny that it doesn't feel like you are sitting in a class! I learned a lot from this class and from having him as a professor. Tests are a little tough so you need to actually study! I would take a class with him again!
Dr. Kinkella is so enthusiastic and charismatic that even if you start his class with zero interest in Anthropology, you will most likely end up loving it when he's through with you. He fills a room with his energy & makes you look forward to class & want to listen to his lectures. If you are present, take decent notes and read you will do great
He is hands down my favorite professor. His lectures are very easy to understand. Not to mention he's absolutely hilarious and tells the best stories. He's very passionate about what he does, and I look forward to taking more classes with him.
He is a very passionate and energetic teacher! He makes the class fun and easy to learn! He has four tests, but they are just like his lectures so make sure to take notes and pay attention in class! The tests are pretty straight forward and they are mostly on a scan ton with a summary of a big topic that he covered in class, which is very easy.
There are only 3 tests in this class, so the lectures are very crucial to passing the class. Other than that, Kinkella is very insightful and makes the class entertaining. Just don't use your phone in class!
The class was so interesting and I learned so much! You don't want to miss class because it is all lecture based and notes are crucial to passing. The tests are pretty easy if you take the time to study. Would definitely recommend this course!
I LOVE THIS MAN!!! He is THE best professor at Moorpark College! So knowledgable and really wants you to succeed. He is HILARIOUS! This class really brightened my day. It is crucial to show up to his lectures. Don't need a textbook. 2% curve! Usually ends class with a theatrical story that leaves the classroom applauding. 100% RECOMMENDED!
I highly recommend you study hard for the exams, because they are tough. Class consists of notes, three exams, and a skeleton journal. Make sure you listen and show up to class. He's intelligent, fair, and has an extraordinary attitude. Great Professor!
This man is a legend! He is so inspirational and caring. He wants you to do well and honestly love to hear about your day. His tests are fairly average, if you study and take good notes, AND READ THE ARTICLES HE POSTS you will be golden! TAKE THIS GUY, HES AWESOME. P.S. His class was literally my favorite (minus John Bakers Bio Anth) of all time!
Not the first course I've taken with him, but all of his classes are structured the same! Class is all lecture but amazingly interesting. The tests are not difficult if you take the time to study (this is college people). Would recommend for the science requirement!!
Kinkella is hilarious it makes class go back quickly. Funniest Professor at Moorpark College. Make sure to take the report seriously it's worth a good amount of your grade. Honestly, he's kind of a trip about cheating and using phones in class. Solid choice just don't forgot about his feud with phones.
He's the reason I switched my major. Really gets into his lectures and makes you want to be there with funny stories and nerdy references.
Kinkella's class was one of my favorites ever! he was a great professor and the way he explained everything made it really interesting! He has so many great stories to tell and every lecture was really fun! he's also an actor which made the lectures great! I was always excited for class! I learned so much in his class! he an amazing professor!!
Really, really fun guy. Great lectures and tons of fun stories that consistently remain on-topic. His Egypotology class didn't have a real textbook, just two books you were supposed to read (only one appeared on the test in the form of an essay question). Just take show up and take notes and you'll do well.
Professor Kinkella made this class so enjoyable. I was actually sad if i had to miss a day. If you show up and take notes and listen, you should be able to pass the class. He has tons of funny stories and is very light-hearted.
terrible and not cool at all lol
Andrew Kinkella is so awesome!! i never wanted to miss his class. 3 tests, one annotated bibliography project. Show up, take good notes, and you will pass. Do the readings! Not a lot to read, he strategically tells you what to read to get the most info with less reading. He's hilarious. Take him! i was sad on the last day (that never happens).
Andrew Kinkella is now of my favorite professors on campus. I have taken two archaeology classes with him and gained a immense amount knowledge. He makes even the most boring lectures exciting and shows a lot of support to his students.
Great guy, came with a lot of energy! Straight up with everything you need to know for the class ! I would take again I had fun in this lab class !
Get ready to take alot of notes, I would only take his class if thats your passion if it isnt take another teacher
Professor Kinkella is a very unorganized professor who doesnt stick with what he talks about. Class is very focused on lecture which is bad because he doesnt know what he says in class and will mark you down even if you write what he said in lecture. Overall he is a very unprofessional professor and I would not take this class unless required.
Just plain awful, came late every single day except the day he was being reviewd by other staff. Not clear at all regarding what is expected of you. Bad professor and would not ever take him again.
I love Andrew Kinkella!! I actually took him twice, once for Bio Anthro and once for Archaeology and both times I really enjoyed the class. He's really funny and his lectures were great because they weren't boring, I would definitely recommend taking Kinkella.
Great Professor, the lectures are incredibly engaging. I never wanted to miss class. Sometimes he started talking about other things, but it always ended up being relevant and interesting. I am either going to minor or double major in anthropology now that I have transferred because of him.
I took for Archaeology and he was very specific with his test questions, which makes it pretty hard. He is very enthusiastic, but if you miss one little thing, it will probably be on the test. Don't skip class! I wouldn't take his class unless it is required.
Kinkella is awesome! Truly enjoyed taking his class because he makes the subject engaging. The skeleton journal project at the end is a lot of fun and if you are an anthropology major it is a good work sample if done correctly. Attend class, follow study guides, and you can earn an A.
Kinkella is one of my favorite professors at Moorpark. His lectures are so engaging, and always made me excited to go to class. He is so passionate about the course, I highly recommend him!
Taking a class with Andrew an awesome opportunity. He is funny, has worked in the field, and has taught me lessons that I have remembered for quite some time. It's been a while since I took this class but of all my professors at Moorpark College he is top 3. And for this subject, he is the best. Almost made an anthro major out of me! haha
Kinkella is one of the funniest, caring, and most interesting people I've ever met. Yes his class is pretty much 95% lecture but I swear they are so engaging, I never want to leave! You are graded by 3 tests and a semester-long project, but he makes it VERY easy for you to get a good grade. He definitely cares a lot about his students.
Kinkella Man
Very specific test questions His study guide is not helpful and hell tell you dates or names arent important but trust me they are!
One of the best teachers at the school, highly recommend, grades a little tough but his humor and lectures make up for it, don't need a textbook just pay attention in class and study notes
Kinkella is such an animated professor. He makes lectures so interesting with his analogies and active teaching style. This class was better than bio. Your grade is really only made up of tests, so make sure to study your notes for a couple hours the day before the exam. Other than that, stay off your phone and pay attention, and you will do fine.
He makes class interesting but is a tough teacher and it is a tough A
Kinkella is a real gem of a professor. His lectures are super engaging and he tells interesting stories from working in the field and traveling around the world. Very funny as well. You're only graded on three tests and one project so be sure to study for those, he does make it very clear though what is expected on each test.
Every class was a treat! VERY easy tests if you pay attention, take notes, and study. Questions on the reading are sometimes specific but an A is not difficult. Makes it very clear what will and will not be on the tests. Other than tests there is only one short paper assignment that he grades pretty leniently. If you can, TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! :)
Extremely boring class and he is also very annoying!!
horrible professor. He's humorous but based exams heavily on lectures but since he's funny, you don't remember anything important at all. I tried really hard to make up with the assignments and tests but if you missed a couple times, you're gonna fail the class. study guides are not online so if you really want to pass show up. would not recommend.
Kinkellas class itself is not difficult. There are 3 exams (which include the final and all are non-cumulative) and there is a project that is worth about an exam and a half. There is no hw. There are assigned readings that go with the chapters that you should read for the tests!! Kinkella is nice but honestly do not take class if u dont have to
Took this class just to fill my schedule and was pleasantly surprised. Super funny and interesting lectures, though you do need to take notes and show up as he will reference his lectures on tests. I wish I could have Dr. K every semester.
Amazing professor. Hilarious and engaging lecturers. Definitely knows what he's talking about, has a real passion for Anthropology, and a ton of amazing stories about his trips to Belize. Tests are on the lecture so don't skip. Do the readings, fully understand them, and remember small details! And DONT USE YOUR PHONE! Easy A if you put in the time
he is the funniest professor ive had in my years here. always keeps class interesting and VERY loud, but that kept me paying attention. i would take him a million times if my major let me! very personal with his students and really truly cares about us. his tests are pretty tough and take a lot of memorization of the material, but its worth it.
Super into his work! A real archeologist too. His lectures are entertaining but make sure to take notes, and DO THE WORK! The big project that you build on over most of the class is key. Put effort into it and you will pass, the more effort the better your grade.
Such a funny and caring soul! This class is graded on a curve and if it weren't for that I probably wouldn't have passed. He made his lectures enjoyable and funny :) For a chill and laid back class his tests are pretty hard. I'd still recommend taking him.
Professor Kinkella delivers a fast paced and detailed course. He is an advocate for students who are motivated to learn. Nota pushover class but is a serious review of what anthro career is all about.
Really awesome professor that really cares about students. He's easily accessible outside of class and during class he's hilarious and makes the information interesting. Took him twice and loved him both times.
He has amazing online lectures as well as in person lectures which make it easy to take notes. Study and youll do well. Very nice guy.
Took him for archeology this past summer and only 4 things in the grade book. Three tests and a project. If you're a straight-A student like I was, don't think about this class, take another professor or at another college. Not worth it. He is accommodative & arrogant with no grade bumps or a curve. I ended up w/ an 89% and cried. Worst professor!!
taking a class with Kinkella was a regret. Graded students on a few things and harshly on the Map project. Unless you want your gpa to drop, this class is for you!
Kinkella man.... dude's a comedian but knows the subject well. 3 exams (not cumulative), 1 mapping project (TOUGHLY graded), and 1 annotated bibliography. He gives an outline of key terms to take notes on for exams - if you take VERY extensive notes and study them, you'll do fine.
joke of a class. Took him this past semester and only grades work on a few things. That tells a lot about his work ethic as a professor LAZY & INCOMPETENT. Tough grader when it comes to the project and did not provide clarification on how to draw the map angles. No extra credit/ hw just tests. Goodbye to your gpa.
He was sarcastic and rude. It seemed like he didn't want to teach our class, and the students were too naive to see that he was obviously another condescending intellectual professor.
He is a great teacher as far as making the class more enjoyable goes, but if you were to miss even one lecture it would be hard to catch up. There are only about 3 major assignments that contribute to your grade. He also put a lot of emphasis on the annotated bibliography and it never got graded, but this also could have just been for me.
Bottom line is, watch ALL the video lectures, take good notes, and the tests will not be a problem. Yes, there are only 3, so prepare and do well. Don't prepare and you will not succeed. The two projects that are assigned come with detailed instructions. Follow them to the letter and you'll get a good grade. Overall, great teacher!
Professor Kinkella is one of the best professors at Moorpark. The lectures are extremely interesting, theres no homework, and only 3 tests and a 1 page paper that you are graded on. He's easily accessible outside of class and will explain concepts in more detail if you ask. Get ready for some dad jokes and funny stories. Don't ask about guitars lol
This professor is hilarious and awesome. He makes classes fun and engaging, and I respect this. I wish he was a bit more organized and concise with his lectures, but regardless of his teaching style, he is very consistent with what he teaches and with what he evaluates (quizzes, exams). Would highly recommend this class. It was fun and interesting.
grade is based on 3 exams & 1 project. take extensive notes on the lectures or you won't pass. unclear instructions given on certain parts of the project.
Funny guy and a fun class. I received an 89% so yes he actually will not round up.... oh well. If I could do it again to get the A I would study harder for the tests. Studying with key terms, reading supporting material and watching all of the supporting media is key to your success. There is no extra credit. You probably wont get 30/30 on the Abib
Kinkella was a really cool professor. His lectures were always upbeat and I actually looked forward to this class but your grade is only based on the few exams and the final.
He connects class material to real-world applications and provides career advice for anthropology.
I adored taking this professor's class! His lectures are super interesting, the field projects are very hands-on and engaging, and you'll never leave a lecture without learning something new; however, in the class I took, you were graded only using the tests and the field journal so you must take detailed notes and actually show up to class!
If you want an honest opinion, here it is. The class is super easy but based off VERY few points so most of your grade is exams. This means that if you miss roughly a total of 10-15ish questions throughout the whole course, you'll end up with a B. If you're trying to maintain a high GPA with ease, don't take this class as it's very volatile.
Wonderful, hilarious, easy to listen to. But if you don't have time to listen to EVERYTHING and do incredibly well on the tests, you will struggle. There are very few assignments (Think, maybe 5 total) and the majority of your grade is three tests. Pretty strict grader and strict with no late or retakes, maybe because I took the online version.
Dr. Kinkella was incredibly entertaining and always gave interesting and interactive lectures. He really loves what he teaches and, even more so, loves to share his knowledge with students. His tests are pretty standard and they cover exactly what he goes over. Loved this class.
He's an amazing person, but prepare for forty mins of the class to be spent on random conversations and unrelated tangents. And also be prepared to end up being weeks behind, getting your test one scores back AFTER you take the SECOND exam. Additionally, he will put those lectures you he missed online, because of all the wasted class time.
If you are not a morning person, I warn you.. he is a lot to handle. He is very loud, finds his own jokes hilarious, and has very strong political opinions from both left and righ.t He is LATE LATE LATE. My class started at 8:30, and he showed up no earlier than 8:50 am every day. Cool at first, got old fast. Scared to show up after him. never did.
Mr. Kinkella was the best! It's mostly graded on tests, but not completely, so beware. No busiwork. Tests are very unique so don't even think of googling anything. Incredibly knowledgeable and wise.
He is a great teacher with lots of energy and is very animated. Taking his class was very fun, would recommend!
Amazing professor, very passionate. I would recommend taking his class in person as there is a better grading curve. Lectures are engaging. Take notes/study as there is a lot of specific information you need to know. He did waste a lot of class time talking to students/sharing personal experiences, but he was very kind and wants you to succeed.
Dr. Kinkella is late pretty much every class and has a tendency to go on long tangents mostly unrelated to the content, but if you can look past those issues, he is an extremely engaging and informative professor. His classes inspired a great interest in archaeology and anthropology for me.
KINKELLA ROCKS!! I took his Archaeology 4-week online course over the summer and I wish so badly that I had his class in person. This is a dude who is EXTREMELY passionate about what he does and it shows!! He responds to emails quickly. Lecture-heavy and he grades by 3 exams and one project but his material is so interesting! TAKE THE CLASS!
This was a great online class, loved the lectures. I found myself enjoying a subject I didn't think I would like but needed for the credits.
