Loveless puts a lot of extra time into helping students. You are guaranteed to be able to get extra attention and clarify any areas of confusion that you may have by going into office hours. He'll sit down and walk you through the steps until you understand.
Professor Loveless might be the best math professor I ever met, and he really cares about his students. Whenever I have any questions, he can give me a long talk about the whole math background of the topics, and try to make me understand the details. He really brings me passion on learning math!
LOVELESS IS THE BEST TEACHER EVER I HIGHLY RECCOMMEND HIM YOU WILL NOT REGRET
He cares a lot! Class curve is very high and exams are generally easy. The high curve is the biggest source of problem. He is (or at least, always tries to be) funny and hilarious. Grading is very relaxed and he tolerates exotic method such as tabular integration or double integrals. He is fine with method that is not taught yet.
He is definitely the best math instructor in UW. He is very good at explaining and conveying concepts to students. His website contains many review materials that he created for students to use. If you do all the problems he posted on the website, it would be easy for you to get A.
One of the best, if not the absolute best, math teachers at the university.
he is just absolutely nice, humorous and amazing. Strongly recommend him.
Dr. Loveless is one of the best math professors at UW. Even though the mean and median in his classes are usually very high, you will be fine if you attend his lectures. It's pretty straightforward, he'll make you work for your grade.
Very great teacher. He honestly cares about your learning, which in turn makes you want to do well in class.
I did not actually have him as my professor, but he let me sit in on the class every day and gave me all the hand outs. He was extremely nice and made learning extremely easy. He is the only reason I passed DiffEq. My teacher was not as helpful as loveless is. I would recommend Loveless to anyone. He truely wants to see you shine and learn.
Good professor I met in UW. Helpful and lecture is clear. Friendly and always reply email on time!
Great professor who is honest and willing to help outside class time. He is there, unlike many professors who dedicate their time for themselves and research, via email and office hours. The school needs more professors like him. 10/10 recommend
One of the greatest professors at UW. Makes very complex concept easy to understand and helps you out whenever you need it. The one problem is that because he is so good the curve tends to be quite high, but nevertheless, YOU HAVE TO TAKE HIS CLASS.
Loveless is the best math teacher I have ever had. I am not very strong in math, but he makes things so easy to understand. He basically tells you what is going to be on the tests. He is very funny and very caring and really does want to get to know you. He's always available for homework help. Amazing class!
Dr. Loveless was an amazing prof. I have never had a teacher who provided so many extra resources to ensure that all of his students have the opportunity to succeed. He teaches at a very slow pace so it's easy to understand. There is quite a bit of HW and the tests are difficult but this course was definitely manageable with Loveless as my prof.
Dr. Loveless cares a lot about his students and their grades. He provides a lot of extra material if they need help as well as extensive office hours. You have to attend quiz sections, that's how you earn participation points. As long as you stay on top of the material and don't get lazy, it's honestly an easy A. I don't get how students stuggle
He's the best. You're lucky if you get him. Even when you contact him through email the night before exams, he always reply in detail within 30 minutes. Very helpful and caring. So sad i finished his class already
Loveless more like Lovemore???? I loved Loveless's class. His lectures are really easy to understand and the homework is not that bad. He does his best to make sure everyone understands and does a lot for his students, for example, emails newsletters and homework help. Overall, great professor.
Loveless truly cares about his student's success. He provides endless resources for every learning style so that you can succeed on the exams. He goes far out of his way to get everyone the help they want, and it made the class easy. Because I showed up to lecture and made sure I understood the homework, I got 100% on the final. Take his class!!!
Although his last name scary people out, Dr. Loveless is more like Lovemore. He does care about his students' success and therefore e-mail and upload many useful course materials. His lectures are interesting, engaging, and clear but I happened to find these materials more helpful before tests. I decided to take MATH112 after finding his name :)
He was good at making topics clear during lecture. I was able to ask questions outside of class by going to the math studies center.
Loveless really cares if you pass the class. He gives a ton of extra help and is almost always available for office hours. Show up, take notes and take advantage of the Math Study Center when he or the TAs are there.
A Professor that really cares about his students, you can't go wrong with Loveless.
I enjoyed his lectures when I took math 125 two years ago. So much great personality and clear explanations. Must-have if you plan to take calculus courses.
Loveless is an awesome lecturer who clearly cares about how his students are doing. Because he is solely a lecturer, you know his focus is always on teaching you. His homework is fair and helpful, and as long as you study and pay attention in class the tests are super reasonable. PS- Loveless? More like lovechild of James Franco and Brad Pitt.
one of the best math professor you will ever meet!! He is passionate about math and helping, so go to him! also he replies to emails about HW or anything in like 5min even if it is later in the day
He seemed genuinely enthusiastic about the topic. He teaches rather quick and its not recorded on Panopto so you have to go to the lectures and pay close attention to absorb all the info.
Although his name is Loveless, he's Love-infinity. The lectures are organized, quick and understandable. He thinks that students' passing the course as the most important thing and always provide lots of resources for reference. Be it, MSC/office hours/CLUE/etc. Definitely taking him for the next maths series.
Hands down the best math professor I have ever had. Would recommend sitting in on his lectures if you don't have him as your professor. Very helpful.
So far he has been the best professor I have had. He is really good at explaining difficult concepts and although the tests are hard, he has a lot of material to help study for them. He has crazy long office hours and is very helpful one-on-one. The lectures are paced really well and always gives lots of examples in class and on his website.
He gave good lectures and made the concepts easy-understanding. However, I do not agree that he is actually caring about students. Sometimes he did wrong questions and refused to face his problems. I seldom went to his office hour because there are so many students and few questions solved. AND HE IS ARROGANT. Still, I got a 4.0^_^
The best math professor in this school. If you have to take a math course, take his!
Merely reading the textbook makes me feel math 125 is hard, but his lecture makes me feel easy. Dr. Loveless really knows how to teach. His lecture is really helpful for me to understand how to use those formulas in solving problems. His midterms are not hard. If you work through all the old midterms, you'll be totally fine. I get 4.0 in his class.
Good at lecturing, gives you lots of extra resources, very approachable, tests were pretty fair
Awesome professor with absolutely tons of extra resources that he makes himself and makes freely available. Never met someone who was so passionate about math. People do well on his exams.
If you do a lot of practice tests before exam, it would help a lot
My best decision at UW so far has been to take Dr. Loveless. He explains concepts very well. He cares about his students learning and passing. His tests are a breeze with moderate studying. He gives tons of helpful resources on his course website, which you should use even if you don't have Dr. Loveless. All-around solid 5 star prof.
By far my favorite professor so far, he made me realize why I like math again.
One of the best professors in UW!!
Made me love math again!
Good lecturer, no quizzes.
Loveless is BY FAR the best Math 124 professor. He does every single thing in his power to help students succeed short of taking the tests for them. He is amazing at explaining things, and is very accessible and easy to talk to. The material is difficult, but it gets easier as the quarter progresses.
He's great at what he teaches and is always willing to answer questions. He does not grade on the bell curve that destroys students who do poorly. If I had to take another calculus class, I would want him to be my professor again.
He was a good professor and very reasonable. He was good about breaking things down for easy consumption. The only problem I had was my grade was based on 5 grades. For someone like me who chokes consistently on tests, it basically means that I'm guaranteed a fail... But it wasn't for a lack of effort on my part or his. Will take again if possible.
Great professor. Helps out and cares that you learn. 126 was a breeze with him.
His lecture is so funny and he is so nice
I love this man's enthusiasm for math :DDD
Loveless lives up to his reputation. He cares a lot about making sure people do well and provides many resources for studying and help on homework. Additionally, he's a good grader and not cruel if you messed up on just one part of a problem. His midterms may be easier than other teachers' however, so study for the final!
Such an amazing professor. I would take him for any math course at the UW
He's a great professor! His classes were interesting and he cared about students so much. He's also very willing to answer questions. I would take his 126 this spring.
Amazing professor! Didn't have him for 124 but went to his lectures and honestly helped me so much. I decided to take him for 125 and going to his office hours is extremely helpful. He always makes sure all questions from students are answered, even showing up to class early to answer individual questions.
great math teacher, very fair grader and gives you the GPA you deserve. Work hard in the class and you'll do great, his lectures are very easy to follow and really help you understand concepts
Professor Loveless is an amazing professor, and he never fails to provide his students the best chance to pass his courses. He keeps lectures interesting, and is easily approachable before and after class. Make sure you put in the work, but it is definitely worth it because you will be rewarded with a good grade.
Loveless is an absolutely brilliant professor, must take his class if you can. The way he explains concepts makes it very easy to understand. He's also got life saving notes on his course website, definitely check it out. Can't scream it enough TAKE HIS CLASS he's the best professor I've had, he know how to math and teach so perfect combination.
I think the only reason he doesn't have a 4.0 rating is because students who didn't put in effort were upset at their grade. AMAZING professor, the most genuinely kind professor you'll probably ever meet, and teaches very effectively(he makes concepts easy to learn/understand). He wants you to succeed and makes it very easy to do so.
Loveless us by far my favorite math professor. He cares about his students and he reminds and helps you with all the homeworks he assigns. His exams are super easy, but that just means that the curve is really high. It's quite hard to get a 4.0; I got a 98 and still got 3.9 :/
Lectures are well made and very helpful. Best professor I've had at UW
One of the best math teachers I've ever had. The course is extremely difficult, but he provided tons of resources inside and outside of class for students. Very caring, helpful, and provided great explanations for tough concepts.
Loveless is amazing! 10/10 recommend him to any calculus student. The class is extremely difficult but he provides many resources to help students succeed. He really cares about his students and this shows in his lectures! Lectures are fun and I actually enjoy going to them!! Take loveless if you can!
Loveless is a fantastic professor. He's so passionate about math and teaching. He loves his students and wants them to succeed. he provides so many resources which makes success easily obtainable in his classes.
Having Loveless again just reaffirms that he's one of the best professors here. Clear and concise lectures, available outside class, and gives TONS of feedback and resources/help. Make sure you still put in the work however. His midterms are easier than other lecturers so be sure you study well for the final and you'll be golden. Take if you can!
Professor Loveless is a really good professor; he is very clear and explains the topic really well. I really learned a lot from this class but the averages for this class is really high. Professor Loveless offers a lot of help but i still struggled with his class because I am not good with visualizing vectors but other wise, a good professor
One word - RESPECT
This man is by far the best math teacher or professor I have ever had. His lectures are extremely clear and he tries his best to make them interesting. Gives very specific tips and tricks to do well on exams. Take his class if you get the chance.
Consider yourself lucky if you get him: he's by far one of the best math teachers I've ever had. He is super thorough in his lectures and office hours, and often went through the hard problems from homework in class. His online notes are also top notch; you can use them even if you don't have him. Tests are difficult but graded fairly.
Definitely one of the harder classes, but Loveless in a caring professor and his lectures are super clear. He also sends out weekly newsletters with tips to succeed and general encouragement that make you feel connected to him even though he has hundreds of students.
Loveless is awesome but since he is such a good professor the text averages were very high which made my grade suffer. He is one of the best calculus professors I have had here at UW. 10/10 recommend
He is a phenomenal teacher who is very accessible outside of class, sent out weekly newsletters, and tips on how to manage the course load. The only critique I have is that while his online notes were helpful, difficult problems were hardly worked out. He emphasized doing homework for test but tests were actually a lot harder than the homework.
This is a hard class, but if you go to lectures and do the homework it is almost impossible to fail. He provides lots of ways to get extra help and has a very well organized website. The only issue is, because he is a good lecturer, his averages are pretty high.
Loveless gives very good lectures; he gives lots of examples and walks you through problems well. He is very clear in his expectations of you for midterms and the final. One thing to note: in my experience and from what I have heard from others his midterms are easier than other professor's, so be ready for the final. The textbook is terrible btw
Loveless is awesome!!! Come to his Calculus class and you will love math
Dr. Loveless is one of the best instructors I have ever had! He presents tough topics in a straightforward way that makes math accessible. If you can, go to his office hours. He truly cares that you understand the materials and gives students multiple opportunities to come to ask him questions, especially before exams.
Web assign is $100? (most classes it's 20-60) AND assignments due 11pm instead of 11:59pm? First homework assignment is easy but VERY long. Other than that he's a nice professor.
He is really excellent and approachable. He does care about his students and is always willing to give you specific advice about how to improve your grades. He has his own website for almost every class he taught and you can always find lots of useful resources on it. In class, he can always make difficult concepts clear and understandable.
He is really helpful and explains every detail in his lecture. Wanna boost your gpa? His class may not be the first choice for you. His test is pretty easy so you might fail to get a std above median just because you make some calculation mistakes.
Dr. Loveless is the best! He takes hard concepts and breaks them down into digestible segments. Not only that but he's easily the most likable and approachable professor I've had so far. I'll be taking 126 with him next quarter, and I'm actually looking forward to it!
Loveless is an amazing teacher who really cares about his students and is very accessible for help. He does a wonderful job in lecture making methods clear and understandable. Only negative is grading system gives anyone at average grade a 2.9 GPA, and our class has had high exam percentages. Which makes it very difficult to get even close to a 4.0
Dr. Loveless is one of the best professors I have ever had! I did not have any pre-calc/calc background going into this class but his lectures made everything so easy to understand! Start the homework early and ask for help when you need it (very approachable and WANTS you to succeed)! 10/10 recommend but you have to put in the work on your end.
Loveless is the best, seriously made taking this class a breeze. He even did so well teaching the course that he was allowed to make the median grade .4 higher than what the department recommended. He was very thoughtful and encouraging with feedback about exams as well! Very fair and admittedly very easy class
AMAZING teacher. He provides his students with every opportunity to succeed, and really cares about his students learning + doing well. He sent out weekly newsletters with helpful info, and provides everyone with old exams, practice problems, notes from lecture, and review sheets. He loves when students come to office hours. Cannot recommend enough
Dr. Loveless is the best instructor I had so far. He is very responsible for students questions and spare a lot of time for review before midterms and final. He also provides a lot of useful materials for review and practices. Strongly recommended to take his class.
He gives so much extra help and is super caring. Tests are easy enough that people mostly lose points for sign errors and silly stuff, which makes the curve a bit vicious.
Best professor I have had so far! A very dedicated instructor who spends hours outside of class working with students to make sure they have a good understanding of course material.
Puts in a lot of effort to make the material comprehensive. Very supportive and accessible outside class. Lectures are fun and not boring by any means.
If you're taking the calc series @ UW, TAKE IT WITH LOVELESS. Trust me. In 124, w/ a diff prof, ended with a 2.9 (the average). I took 125 w/Loveless and put in the same amount of work, ended with a 3.5. He's so good at explaining hard concepts in a way that's easy to understand! Loveless is the best-his website has everything, it's so helpful!
He's probably the best Math Professor for the Calc Series and 300 level courses, and grading criteria and his info on the website is amazing. Definitely, a difficult class and you need to exceptionally do well on exams, at least above 75% for a 2.0. Really great lectures, makes it clear and coherent. Definitely would recommend.
He put a lot of effort into the class, and was a considerate lecturer.
His outline is super clear. His website is the best resource for you to learn and review the material. Definitely recommend to use it.
Loveless is very good at explaining things visually and conceptually. He's pretty fast in lecture but we don't have a lot of time so that's expected. Even though he doesn't do panapto recordings he has review sheets and lecture notes on his website which is super helpful. And he has an entire exam archive for his class only you can practice with.
Dr. Loveless is such a good professor, he has a sense of humor & you don't really need to go to lectures to learn the content because he puts all of his notes & materials on his website, where you can honestly just copy it down & teach it to yourself. his midterms & tests aren't as hard as other math125 classes either, so get him if you take it
Going into UW, I was very anxious about Math 125 as I saw the median was a 2.9. I thought that I was destined to die doing UW math, but Loveless made it so much easier and gave me confidence in math. His lectures are extremely clear, his resources on his websites were extremely helpful, and his tests were relatively easy. I finished with a 4.0.
Loveless is as good as they say he is. He is extremely clear and easy to follow during lectures, he has tons of solved practice exams and notes online, and he holds office hours often. Best professor in the math department.
Dr. Loveless really cares about his students and does his best to help them understand and pass. He is really good at explaining difficult concepts in a way that makes perfect sense. I would definitely recommend.
BEST math professor at UW. One of the most caring and dedicated professors I have ever met. Gives lots and lots of practice exams, just show up to class and learn the material and it's an easy A. Again, AMAZING and hilarious professor overall. TAKE HIS CLASS!
Andrew is one of the best professors I have. He really cares about his students and goes out of his way to help his students succeed. He provides all the material and resources needed to good in the course and as long as you hold up your end of the stick and actually try you should get a good grade.
Dr. Loveless was very very helpful to students that didn't understand the material. He always came early and held lots of office hours. If you dont understand the material, definitely ask for help. If youre good with algebra and graphs you will do well.
Really helps students work through problems. Clear lectures supported by examples made things very easy to understand. Great resources available on his website!
THE GOAT
One of the best professors I've ever had. His lectures are very helpful and the work load is reasonable. Doing practice tests will help you a lot for Midterms and the final.
Loveless really helps the students to understand the material and his lecture material is really simple, straightforward and easy to understand. He literally holds your hands through this course, though there will be some effort put in by yourself in homework and exams.
Breaks down the complex math mumbo jumbo into clear, simple terms. Really helps you understand the concepts fully.
He explains everything clearly and in detail. Watching the lecture videos is enough to understand the class content and reviewing his own website is enough for getting ready for exam. Almost every two weeks has one midterm but only test on one chapter, which makes the pressure lower.
I'm writing this because I accidentally didn't fill out the official course evaluation for Math 126 with Loveless. Basically he really cares if his students are learning the material and are excited about math, he provides so many different resources and his lectures are informative and straightforward. Highly recommend! (also was online bc covid)
I took 125 & 126 with him. Hands down the best math teacher at UW and of the best teachers overall. Lectures are clear and concise, and shows he really cares about his students too. He has his own website that's filled with resources from every math course he's ever taught. Did a fantastic job navigating the online quarter. Get this man a RAISE!
*took Spring 2020 during pandemic* He works very hard to make sure students succeed, and you can tell he really cares. Provides lots of helpful resources. He explains things in a very accessible way. I think he adapted the class well to a challenging situation this quarter. Can be overwhelming/intense at times. *10/10 best prof I've had at UW.*
The best math professor in uw.
Dr. Loveless is the GOAT when it comes to calc. Lectures are clear, work isn't too overwhelming, and he does the most to make sure you actually know 3D calc material, not just weed you out. He's quite approachable and engaging inside and outside of class. Caveat: curves/medians tend to be unforgiving because of this.
Dr. Loveless is an amazing prof! His lectures were well organized and his website has a lot of great resources that I continue to use after finishing this class. Really cares about his students and what they learned.
Professor Loveless is one of the best professors at UW! Take a class with him and you will know.
Professor Loveless is AMAZING. He provides so many resources for students to study from. It really shows how much effort he puts into teaching and preparing. Heads up though, you're gonna have to work really hard in his class (workload is heavy)
Dr. Loveless is a fantastic professor. I took math 126 this quarter and even though it was virtual (and a big time commitment), I learned a lot through Loveless' asynchronous lectures, as well as his office hours. He takes a lot of time to answer specific questions, offers a ton of review material, and really wants his students to succeed.
I took this class online and he's is one of the best professors I've taken at UW! Dr. Loveless is such a kind and caring professor. He WANTS you to succeed in this class and does his best to help you with everything.
Dr. Loveless has a ton of resources like review sheets, old exams, etc. on his website that were really helpful. He gave very clear guidelines about what would be on each exam, down to each question. I only watched his lectures, I didn't use the online textbook once. But I think buying the textbook is required for Webassign.
THIS DUDE IS THE GOAT PROFESSOR AT UW FR. He respects his students and will teach you math like no one else before hes literally the Second Coming of Jesus for Calc III. If it was up to him there wouldn't be grades just learning, but the UW grading system stay ridiculous so grading is kind of a RIP. TLDR TAKE THIS GUY FOR AS MANY CLASSES AS POSSIB
seriously the best prof i've ever had! loveless is very approachable and his teaching is really easy to understand. the key to succeeding in his class is to take a bunch of practice exams. good luck!
One of my favorite profs. Gives you a lot of resources and opportunities to get help, and doesn't surprise you with anything crazy on tests. Made me laugh in panopto lectures.
Overall outstanding professor, especially while online during COVID. Loveless posts all his lecture videos to provide extra office hours and was very sympathetic to personal challenges. Has an outstanding course website with loads of materials to help students and he's great about answering questions in discussion boards and responding to email.
THIS PROFESSOR IS AMAZING. Wow. I struggled so much with calc 1 and 2 and I believe that the reason why I did so well in calc 3 is because Loveless really wants his students to succeed. He dedicates so much time and effort to add extra resources and practice problems. Dont get me wrong, the class is not an easy A but he sure makes it manageable.
I am extremely thankful to have learned from Dr. Loveless this past quarter. Being my first quarter I wasn't sure what to expect, but I can assure any incoming students that Dr. Loveless will prepare you incredibly well throughout the introductory calculus series. His website contains a wealth of materials for other UW math courses... very helpful!
Provides clear expectations and assigns a reasonable workload. Clearly cares about the well-being of students and dissects difficult topics into easily digestible parts.
Best math professor I have ever had :)
Professor Loveless is literally the best professor I've ever had. He is so kind and you can talk to him about any questions. His class is well structured and reasonably formatted. He has his own website with lots of resources for students to prepare for the exams. Take his class if you have the chance! You will love it.
Such an excellent professor. Explains concepts clearly and always accepts questions. His website has materials on other classes too, which has been such a help to me this quarter in 307. 10/10 could not recommend more. Take Andy Loveless!!!
Great prof, does a good job of explaining things in multiple ways so students understand, goes through plenty of examples, goes over hw problems, the hw aligns well with the tests, and he's one of the friendliest and most approachable teachers I've had, even online.
Professor Loveless is a fantastic lecturer. He makes concepts very clear to understand and I don't think I've ever met someone who didn't like him. If you can take a class with him, do it! The only hard thing about this course was that exams were graded somewhat harshly.
I have never met a professor that cared about your learning and is so passionate about his teaching. He is by far my favorite professor so far. I took this course online and there was quite a bit of work but I actually learned so much and everything is very thorough. He is a great professor. TAKE HIS CLASS! He provides so many resources.
Dr. Loveless truly cares about his students' learning. His prerecorded lectures are engaging and thorough, and the live ones are great to use as review or office hours. The tests are straightforward, he gives plenty of practice specific to each test.
MATH 126 with Loveless was by no means a walk in the park, but Loveless makes his best effort to make sure the class goes as smoothly as possible for his students. MATH 126 is computationally heavy rather than conceptually heavy, and there's a decent amount of HW, but the prerecorded lectures are thorough and well organized.
Dr. Loveless is the best math teacher I've had my entire life. If you are someone like me who doesn't get math super easily, he explains it so well and makes it so easy to understand the material. There is no cumulative final, but 5 short midterms over each chapter. I cant stress how great Dr. Loveless is!
The material is hard by nature, but Dr. Loveless does his best to help students. I wish my grade would've been higher than it was, but he gives you all you need and more to succeed. All of the time and effort he puts into this course was very evident, he is a very involved and caring teacher. Exams are what you practice in class and homework.
great
I'm personally not a fan of biweekly exams (due to this pandemic), but Loveless gives out many practice problems for you to try out. Just be aware of the amount of the time you have on every exam since those scores will be graded the most (14% each; 70% total).Math 126 is computationally and conceptually heavy as other comments state.
One of the best classes I have taken. The material may be difficult, but Dr Loveless provides you with everything you need to succeed. The class feels fair and you feel rewarded for the effort you put in. Exams may be difficult but there are not tricks, almost everything is based on homework or problems we had already seen before. 100% recommend.
First off, I am not an engineering major and math can be extremely difficult at times, especially calculus III. I went into this course thinking I would barely pass. The subject IS hard but Dr. loveless provides amazing lectures and support for his students and I am extremely pleased with how I did in this course thanks to him! Highly recommend.
Loveless is the best Professor I've had in college hands down. He teaches very well, and the tests are very fair. I cannot recommend him more!
Such an awesome professor! Explains concepts super clearly, with lots of visualizations and examples. Provides so much extra help and resources outside of class and is constantly on the discussion board answering questions. Has really cute cats.
Dr. Loveless clearly explains what he expects of his students while providing many extra resources for students to succeed in his class. He also makes the abstract concepts easy to understand and is very accessible outside of class. Definitely would recommend him to anyone!
Great teacher, very fun and explains the concepts clearly and easy to understand. Grading is very tough though.
He's an amazing prof! Definitely try to get in one of his classes here! "that's the story"
Mr. Loveless is GREAT. I struggle with three dimensional things, but professor loveless made things so much more understandable. He gives a lot of opportunities to work with the material, use practice problems, and ask questions. I highly recommend being in his class just to have him as a prof! Truly a nice guy.
Math 126 is fundamentally different from Math 125 and 124, its more conceptual than computational. If you want to succeed in his class, be prepared to work hard. His lecture is truly amazing
loveless is a good teacher full of responsibility. I love his class and the notes really help me learn better.
Amazing professor offers so many resources to learn & actually cares if you learn. this has been the best math class I've taken at UW and its mainly because of dr loveless. his outside lectures are long but they're very helpful & he gives homework hints.
LOVELESS IS THE GOAT!
Math in general is a hard class, however, Loveless is an amazing lecturer. He teaches and shows examples that is easy to understand without the wordy textbook explanations. His tests are VERY fair, all materials u have already seen in class or in the homework, so just do ur work. He genuinely cares abt u and wants u to pass while learning as well.
Loveless' exams are SO reasonable! Exams were broken down by chapter, which was helpful. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He answers questions super thoroughly, goes through lots of examples, and has lots of resources. Loveless is a real gem, if you have the opportunity to take his class or watch his lecture videos, do it!
Great professor. If you put in the effort, you can get a 4.0 without much difficulty. He genuinely wants to see you do well and it shows in his teaching. I'm excited to take him next quarter and would recommend for anyone considering.
Dr. Loveless is one of, if not the best professor I have had. He, along with Dr. Taggart, made MATH 111/112 very enjoyable. The class is a breeze if you have taken calculus or economics before.
Doctor Loveless is so kind, he wrote weekly letter every week. When the student gives his time, he gives just as much time.He would give you huge amounts of help during study, homework, and even give you extra offce hours. His pace is not too fast, which means as long as you do some practice,it's easy to follow his lectures
Very pretentious professor. Cares too much much about his domain and ego.
best interpreting professor
Very good professor! Easy material and easy to get 4.0. 4 quizzes in the quarter. Easy quiz.
Loveless is amazing! He's honestly the best professor I've taken at UW. If you get the chance to take his classes, DO IT! You won't regret it.
Loveless is amazing! He's honestly the best professor I've taken at UW. He has a way with teaching that just makes anything click inside your head. Highly recommend taking his classes if you get the chance.
Cool guy
Loveless is hands down one of the best professors at UW. I already loved math but his class and the way he taught it made me fall in love with math even more to the point where I have decided to major in it! I highly recommend taking any class with him! I genuinely looked forward to going to his class. My advice is read the textbook before lectures
Professor Loveless is one of the best teachers I've ever had. I thought I didn't like math, but after taking his course, I'm considering majoring in it. His lectures are fun and easy to follow, and he makes it a point to make them enjoyable. He has a lot of very helpful resources and he clearly cares for his students. He is amazing!!
Probably the best professor I've taken at UW. Yeah I got a bad grade but its definitely not a reflection of him. In fact he gave our class many chances to get more credit and boost our grade. Like dropping tests, homework extensions, etc. If you do the HW and take his practice exams at least once you will do AMAZING easily. Very considerate man.
I LOVE Dr. Loveless! I had him for Math 111, and as someone who has always struggled with understanding math, having such a devoted teacher who gives his students lots of opportunities to boost their comprehension made all the difference. His practice tests are almost identical to the actual exams; he prepares you very well for them.
Loveless is SUCH a good professor! You can tell how much he cares -- he would print out his meticulously crafted review materials to hand out to everyone in the class. He is such a great lecturer as well -- he made everything make sense. If you can have him as a professor -- DO IT!
Great overall experience with Loveless. He provided plenty of practice through his exam websites and his weekly newsletters help keep you on track for everything that's going on in the lecture. His lectures are well thought out and refined so there's no ambiguity with him or his expectations. The best advice is to use his math website throughout.
Dr. Loveless is a fantastic teacher. His lectures are engaging and the way he explains concepts is super clear. After seeing the amount of effort he put into the course, it's obvious he cares a ton about his students and genuinely wants them to succeed. Very generous grading policies. Can't say enough good things, awesome guy!
Dr. Loveless is hands down the most amazing math professor at UW. His dedication to student success, love for the subject, and abundance of resources are completely unparalleled. This probably sounds like some sort of paid review, but he genuinely is that great.
Dr. Loveless is a very fun lecturer and made business algebra engaging. The class is on a curve so I didn't get as high a grade as I would have wanted but other than that I enjoyed it.
Professor Loveless is a really caring professor who clearly wants his students to improve their comprehension more than he wants to establish himself as a tough professor. He's a very fair professor, giving lots of opportunities for improvement and genuine learning. I'm pretty bad at math but managed to get a better grade than expected.
Fantastic professor and lecturer who clearly cares about his students and their success. Very accessible outside of class and super active on the discussion board- gives helpful answers to HW questions. Little challenging but he tries to help out as much as possible- provides so many resources for studying/ tests and if you use them youll do fine.
Professor Loveless is the absolute best. He gives so many options to raise your grade and is always willing to listen to student feedback (as long as it's respectful). He gives out the answers to homework and quizzes in class sometimes, so pay attention and you'll be fine.
Loveless is awesome. Committed to helping his students in and out of class. His online discussion board, office hours, and lab sections are all excellent resources to get help with homework assignments. He genuinely cares about his students performing well / understanding content and is always willing to answer questions.
Professor Loveless is an awesome maths teacher who is really knowledgeable about the subject. Cares about students and does what he can to help them pass. I highly recommend him.
He does really good lectures, has plenty of course material for you to use, but the test averages are high for the math department because all the smart people take him. Just be prepared to work harder because everyone else in that class is too compared to other math teachers' classes.
Amazing professor. Explains concepts really well and truly cares about you succeeding. Pushed back due dates a lot and was always helped students when they were confused. Lots of office hours and always answers the discussion board. Practice exams will most likely determine how you do on the exam. Very, very reasonable exams.
Dr. Loveless is actually the greatest professor I've ever had, always enthusiastic and ready to help. Sets you up for success.
Dr. Loveless is the most enthusiastic professor I have had. The class is really graded off of 3 exams, however, these exams are really easy if you practice with the exam archive. On exams, he doesn't try to trick you much and just tests whether you understand the material. Also, he is very willing to help students and wants everyone to do well!
Very clear and easy to understand. Best math professor by far.
If you ever get the chance to take a class with Dr. Loveless, do it! He is one of the best professors at UW without a doubt. His lectures are great and he teaches it in a way that just clicks. He is super active on the discussion board too and his exams are super reasonable too if you study his exam archive. Overall, truly a gem at UW.
Dr. Loveless really cares about his students and has many grace polices to prove it. Great teacher.
He truly can cater to all his students. If you follow his advice, the class is super manageable and easy to succeed in. Attendance isn't mandatory, however, if you do attend all lectures and most math labs you're basically guaranteed a good grade. It's hard to not do well with Dr. Loveless- he's a GREAT professor.
Dr. Loveless is hands-down one of the best professors I have ever had, and it is my last year at UW. He cares about his students and truly wants you to succeed. For a tough class, he makes it as easy as he can. He has tons of office hours and provides constant tips and help for exams. Take calculus with him!!!
great teacher, gives plenty of practice problems during lectures, offers more office hours than most, will answer any questions you have. He's also got an exam archive with all past tests, definitly use those to study (even if you aren't in his class). just search for andy loveless exam archive to find it
The bar may be low, but Dr. Loveless is EASILY the best teacher I've had for any subject across my entire life. He gives amazing lectures and he has so many resources and lots of office hours to help you do well in his class. His exams, although difficult, are reasonable if you study his exam archive. Just work hard and you'll do well.
Math 125 is a tough class but Dr. Loveless makes it so much more enjoyable. His exams are very reasonable and he really sets students up for success with great resources. Definitely attend his lectures; his explanations of concepts are excellent. If you're taking any class in the calculus series, try and get into Dr. Loveless's section.
BEST MATH TEACHER!!! The material he gives us to help is so helpful (and there's a lot of material he gives out). He makes life so much easier for students. I switched all my classes out to take his class again next quarter. Math is really test heavy class but with his help it would be a breeze.
BEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD!! Super clear, incredible lectures. The class itself is rough, but he makes it so much more bearable and easy to comprehend. Lots of homework but his office hours are great and the Math Study Center is a fantastic resource. If you have the option, take Loveless.
I have never had or met him, but when I requested access to one of his exam reviews on panopto he shared it with me. he's my goat.
Dr. Loveless is easily one of the best professors at UW. You can tell he really wants his students to succeed and tries his best to help us by spending his weekends responding to questions on the discussion board. I struggle with math, but he is very clear and helpful both in his lectures and office hours. He also records lectures!
This professor is the best professor I've ever had. I took MATH 125 with him last quarter and MATH 126 with him this quarter. Literal grade saver - he will give you all the resources you need to succeed and more. He goes through homework questions, extra practice problems, and old exams. He cares a lot about his students and answers quickly on Ed.
Willing to help if you reach out! I went to office hours often and that helped me out a ton. Both math 111 and 112 have learning curves, but it was manageable and with effort I was able to maintain a B in both classes.
He is the BEST professor on the campus VERY CONSIDERATE, CARING and FRIENDLY. He would explain every step even those small simple steps. If he didn't he could ask him, he would love to explain it to you. DON'T take advantage of him and blame him for bad grades because of your lack of knowledge and self- discipline. Be ashamed of yourself if you did
Dr. Loveless really cares about making sure all of his students succeed. He provided tons of review material, and helpful videos, and allowed noted sheets on exams. The outline when I took Math 111 was HW 15%, two open book quizzes 8%, two in-person test preps 8%, and 3 exams 69%.
Dr. Loveless is the best math teacher I have ever had. He explains things in a way that just makes sense. While his classes tackle difficult concepts, he does a great job of making them understandable.
Really great dude, he is always ready to help students, either with office hours or discussion board. Great class with a great with an amazing professor.
He is a great professor who cares about how his students feel about the class. He helps students try to be as well-prepared as possible and will try his best to meet student's grade expectations even though the class was quite hard as it was heavily weighted on exams particularly the final.
Genuinely one of the nicest people and teachers I've ever had. He cares so much about his students success.
Loveless is a fabulous professor, I struggled with the content but Loveless is great at explaining the concepts!
Dr. Loveless was, and probably will be the best professor I've ever had. He has pre-made notes sheets for his math lectures that you can download/print for easy note taking. He has soooo many review materials and he consistently posts on discussion boards with tons of help. He helped me survive winter quarter.
Lectures weren't mandatory but there was a bit of homework throughout the course. The professor is nice and you can tell he just wants everyone to pass his class.
If he needed a kidney I would give him both of mine. You could not meet someone worse in math than i am yet i've maintained a 4.0 all quarter thanks to all of his amazing resources and great teaching style.
He is the goat. He is a very good teacher and though his lectures can feel fast, he gets through a lot to ensure that you struggle very little on the homework. He makes 126 easier since he teaches so well.
Loveless is an amazing professor, math isn't always the easiest class to teach but he provides so much review materials and it is very obvious he wants every student to do well. He was super easy to reach outside of class if you had any questions, you will do very well if you have him as your professor!
Professor Loveless is very communicative and cares a lot about his student's success.
Loveless is an amazing professor who cares how well his students do on the tests, he offers a ton of resources + help for homework/preparing for tests. Math 111 is a very test-heavy class so make sure to study a lot and you'll be fine. It's not hard math but it can get tricky if you fall behind.
Loveless is always on top of things and is ready to help out whenever needed. Math 111 is a relatively easy class with him, it will just be important that you stay on top of your work so you don't fall behind. Loveless has MANY resources available to you and if you need accommodations for exams, let him know. He cares about his students a lot.
Professor Loveless is genuinely one of the best teachers I have ever had. He cares so much about his students and helping them understand. Although lectures are recorded and not mandatory, he made it so easy to want to go to lecture because of his engaging teaching style. Loveless is the best ever take him if you can!
Great prof compared to other math 125 profs!
loveless knew what he was talking about and how to get his points across to his students. he had lots of policies that made decent grades attainable. most notably, i went through a personal problem that affected my efficiency in math 125 this last fall. loveless worked with me and gave me so much grace throughout it all. would 10/10 recommend
Literally the best math professor ive ever had. Genuinely cares, explains every small detail (doesnt assume you know everything from previous classes), reasonable exams and so so so so much help outside class. Take 126 with Loveless or else dont take it. TRUST.
GOAT professor if you have a different professor for math126, go to Loveless lectures instead
Genuine GOAT, So caring and helped me personally for DRS disputation. Breaks down exactly how to do the problems and gives tons of examples in class to make everything super clear. Lots of resources, hes super well thought out. Only kicker is because he teaches so well his averages are pretty high but thats a departmental fault not his own.
Professor Loveless is the best math professor I have had at UW. You can tell that he genuinely wants you to succeed in his class through the copious amounts of supplemental materials that he provides. Math 126 is pretty tough but he makes it easier to understand. Def take him if you can!
Genuinely the best professor I have encountered and it really feels like he cares deeply about the subject he teaches as well as the students he teaches the subject to.
Just phenomenal. Always answering questions on the discussion boards, and hosts long office hours 3 times a week for students to ask more questions. Good at explaining and very knowledgeable about the subject matter but also things beyond the scope of this class students might find interesting. Easiest tests too(final is normalized). Take this guy.
greatest professor of all time. made math 126 the easiest of the entire calculus series. take this professor for not only a free 4.0, but also for the knowledge you gain from his teaching style
one of the best professors in the math department. prepares everyone for the webassign homework questions by going over some in class which is very helpful, and always gives detailed answers on every single question posted on discussion board. do not miss your chance to take a class with this professor!!
Andy Loveless is one of the best professors at UW. His extra materials to supplement the lectures were super helpful. If it were not for him, I would not have been able to succeed in this class. He is also incredibly funny. Once a Math 126 fan, always a Math 126 fan.
Absolutely loved having loveless as a professor. Friendliest professor I have had yet he is such a sweet heart and cares so much about students. He is incredibly good at teaching difficult concepts and is always willing to help out. Perfect workload and responds so quick if you need help. Best professor I have had and likely will ever have.
Prof. Loveless is an amazing professor and his lecture is very fun to go to. He has his own website that provide tons of resources such as review notes or past exams to practice. He puts his effort a lot into the class and always give a hint to homework. I'm pretty sure he wants his student to success in the course. Big W professor.
Loveless lives up to his reputation-- as someone who takes longer to understand math (2.1 in math 124/125), his lectures are helpful and in-depth. He simplifies vector calculus so that, even if you are somewhat lost, you will get most of the points on a test for knowing how to start the problem.
Amazing professor love him more than life itself. Biggest tip for tests is that he WANTS everyone to do really well, so resist the urge to believe that he's trying to trick you. Go over the most recent tests from the archive and fully understand all the examples that he gives in class because he will put all of them on the test.
He is the best. Anyone can get an A if they are willing to put in the work, setting a great example for how a class should be. Only thing is because he is so great, everyone does well so it is harder to separate yourself from the rest of the pack. If you can take his class, do it!
Professor Loveless is an absolute gem - his lectures are super engaging, and he really wants everyone to succeed. The extra resources like practice exams are a lifesaver. Unstuckstudy AI was a great study tool alongside the textbook. Definitely take this class if you can!
Teaches well in lectures. Really helped my understanding.
Dr. Loveless provides great material to be successful on midterms and tests. He has a very engaging teaching style and I actually stay awake during lectures, which is insane. During his office hours, he makes sure I understand the material very well. Best professor I ever had.
Dr. Loveless is an incredible professor, which is well reflected in his lecturing style and wide range of support for students. He really cares about the success of his students, and one time after lecture, he went out of his way to one-on-one teach me ways to study more effectively for like half an hour. An amazing experience and an amazing prof.
Very good professor, and gives a lot of examples in lecture. Attendance isn't mandatory for lecture but quiz sections can be.
Very engaging and easy to understand. Lectures not mandatory to attend, but participation is required for quiz sections. The midterms and final make up a LOT of the grade, so a lot of studying is required to get above a passing grade.
Dr. Loveless truly cares about his students. This class was really hard for me, hence the lower grade, but he truly made the class. He put in extra effort to make more office hours for people who were struggling. He genuinely loves what he teaches and it shows. The math itself is hard, but if you need to take this course, take it with him.
His teaching style is easy to digest and is clear. He provides examples that make sense and are reasonable and gives tips that helped him as a student. All around great dude, I hope I get him again in the future!
Best math lecturer I've ever had. I took BC in High School, but revisited the content coming to college. His lectures move fast, but cover content thoroughly and clearly. His lectures are direct, efficient, and engaging. The homework can be tedious, but none of it feels like a waste of time, and helps prepare your for exams. Very fairly graded.
Took Dr. Loveless for Math 125 and 126 and he was amazing for both!!
participation in sections was graded with participation quiz. Loveless is an amazing teacher and really cares for his students. 125 was a really hard class but the professor was amazing.
Dr. Loveless is the best professor you can take for MATH 125. While the class content difficulty depends on the person, Loveless does everything he can to help you as a student. He uploads videos to going through midterms, finals, homework problems, etc. He records all of his lectures and will answer questions/give hints on Ed. Very organized!
I love Dr. Loveless's teaching style and his small videos for explanations. He is funny and cares about your grade, even your mental health. He is the best math professor I've ever met. I hope people can treat him like he treats us! Love him!
This year in particular, Dr. Loveless created a ton of external resources through youtube and his discussion board. He shares his old exams, which can be pretty formulaic, so don't expect many debilitating curveballs. The second midterm is pretty difficult, so watch out for that, but other than that, the class is pretty straightforward.
Mr. Loveless is the best possible professor you can get for the calc series. He is truly PASSIONATE about math, and he puts so much effort into helping his students, he posts tons of youtube videos, he even responds to almost every question on the Ed discussion. His classes tend to have a higher GPA too. Im lowk glazing, but he is truly a LEGEND.
Dr. Loveless has been such an amazing professor! I had a lot of trouble going between Calc AB and Math 125, but I felt like Dr. Loveless really cared and invested in helping me, and his resources (YT, past exams, review sheets) and more have been amazing! I think that his resources helped me so much on the final exam, I recommend him to everyone!
Fall 24' Very good lectures and so many support resources. So many practice resources as well. He's the kind of guy that if he told you to, you'd run through a brick wall for. Except the brick wall is volumes of donuts and I cant break through.
Dr. Loveless has a really positive attitude and is friendly. He has all of his past exams and study materials in an archive, lots of resources, but you have to put in work and time to benefit from them. Due to the large class size, it is tough to ask the professor for help. Still, he tries to help everyone. His note taking style was hard to follow.
Good prof, but test is hard, get ready to study for the Exams, as long as you do well on all the assignments, practice exams, then you will be fine. Participate in class, quiz section is a good idea, . Overall, just take Dr.Loveless, he the best, caring student a lot, be able to answer question on the discussion board asap (about 1 day answer).
Please take his class guys, we love you Dr. Loveless, you are so friendly and caring, worrying about your students a lots. Test is hard, to be honest, but Dr. Loveless did good job in supporting student doing the homework, and practice exam. As long as you put your effort on this class, then believe me, you all gonna be fine. Just take his class!!!
Dr. Loveless cares a lot about his class, as shown in the abundance of support videos he provides. He is very active on the online discussion board, and frequently posts homework and exam support videos. His lectures are informative and better than just reading lecture slides. All his resources are aimed at helping the students.
Phenomenal teacher who genuinely cares about every student's success.
Dr. Loveless was an amazing professor. He cares a ton about every student and their success, and is constantly pushing himself to improve, and help students improve. I would love to have him again.
It really doesn't get better than Loveless! Don't get me wrong, you will need to work for your math grade (just like any UW math class), but Loveless goes above and beyond to make sure his students are successful and is very open to feedback. He makes lecture fun and it actually makes you want to go to class.
I had different professors for math 124-126, but can't recommend prof Loveless enough. I often referenced his instructional youtube videos, attended his lectures instead, and would join his zoom exam review sessions. He conceptualizes & approaches problems in digestible steps. Plus, his exams' keys are well written and prime study material.
Professor Loveless came in clutch every time. I loved his detailed explaining videos for ed discussions, and his office hours were amazing. His website and YouTube channel helped me throughout the quarter. Practicing his past mid terms and finals helped me gain more confidence and perform well. Also, I loved his lectures! He made math very fun : )
Absolutely incredible professor, really shows with the 110% he puts into the class, hope that anyone who takes 12X gets him at least once. I loved all the available helpful material on his course website/YT channel as + attentiveness to the Ed Board (even making individualized videos to answer students posts!). He REALLY wants you to succeed.
Concept explanations were excellent and his website with study resources was incredibly helpful. Lectures always felt well utilized.
Loveless was a pleasure to have as a prof, he came to class energetic and his lectures were super engaging. He gives an abundance of online and in person resources to be successful in his course, and it seemed the amount of work you put in reflected the grade you received. As for all weed out classes, beware of the curve if you care about 4.0.
Lectures aren't attendance mandatory mandatory, and you can find the recordings online, however quiz sections are. Amazing professor, very funny and explained things really clearly.
He is extremely caring and roots for his students. He wants everyone to pass and do exceptionally well. Funny lectures and lives and breathes calculus. Overall, excellent and dependable professor.
Had him for Math 125 and he was amazing. He took the time to explain topics and examples and he provided lots of resources. He would set up review zooms before midterms and the final, and he provided all his achieved exams, notes, and worksheets. He was an amazing teacher that took the time and effort to provide students with resources to succeed.
Dr. Loveless is certainly not love-less. He is Dr. Love-full. His passion for math and teaching is evident in his dad-humor-lectures and endless help. He had the best Canvas page/materials. He records lectures, videos, and is active in Ed discussions. I never painfully struggled. His Math 126 materials will save me in Calc 3. I miss his class. :'(
Math 125 is a very hard class but Dr. Loveless makes it quite a bit easier. He genuinely feels bad when students fail and makes extra videos to help struggling students with homework and other course material. He also has an extensive review website that is very helpful.
What a legendary calc teacher.
Loveless is the first good math teacher I've ever had. math is a difficult subject for me, and he made learning calculus so easy. He has ENDLESS resources on the ed discussion, youtube videos for pretty much any type of problem, and his lectures are very helpful. Take him for any math course, I really don't think there could be anyone better.
Dr Loveless was my first college math professor, and he was fantastic. He showed that he cared about his students a lot and offered many supplemental videos for topics that may have been challenging, to prepare for exams, and more. I learned a lot in this class and really thrived. The balance of learning and examples during lectures was great
best math professor offered for the math 12x series. his content is all on his website to review with, you don't have to attend lecture because everything is recorded, but it's definitely worth your time. last 10 minutes of lecture he will always run through the toughest homework questions that you'll have to do on webassign.
Dr. Loveless is probably the best professor for the intro calc series at UW. He is amazing and so helpful. He provides a lot of resources and videos to help answer questions. The quarter I took the class he even petitioned the math department to raise the average grade from a 3.1 to a 3.3 because the class did so well overall.
So so good!
Genuinely the most caring professor, he dedicates so much time to his students its wild. Dr. Loveless you are loved. The goat.
Andy Loveless is the greatest professor I've had at UW so far. Math 125 is very difficult but Andy does his best to make it manageable. He has made countless resources to support students through the calc series and even held review sessions for 126 when he wasn't teaching it. Really great guy!
I had Prof Loveless fall quarter for math 125 and he was amazing! He spent a lot of his free time holding review sessions. He has an amazing website with a lot of resources. Now, I am in math 126 for winter quarter and he followed up to everyone and held a math 126 review session even when we are not his students anymore. Most caring prof ever.
I've never had Dr. Loveless as a professor, but he provides incredible resources for students in math courses, even those he isn't teaching that quarter. I recently attended a review session he hosted for Math 126, despite him not teaching the class, simply because he wanted to help. If you have the chance, I highly recommend taking his class!
He is such an amazing professor, probably the best professor I have ever had. I noticed how enthusiastic he is whenever he answered students' questions in the MIDDLE of talking. What's more, hadn't it been for his explanations, I would have never been able to understand MATH 126 content as well. Hope to take his class again sometime!!
This is a man in it for the love of the game. Tons of extra resources out of class to help you out. He is the absolute GOAT at mathematics. Stuctures his lectures very clearly One time I swear on my life I was studying and I heard a "ba-a-a-a-a" down the hall and I thought to myself "is that a goat? and I got up and turns out it was just Loveless
Didnt have him as my prof but he hosted review sessions before exams even though he wasnt currently teaching it. His youtube videos are so helpful! Watching his videos taught me so much more than my actual prof. He deserves everything and I hope he gets a raise. Hes the GOAT.
Literally my goat
omg he saved my life, he's not even teaching math125 this quarter but he still post life saving lectures for final reviews and I so appreciate it, I think every department needs a Professor loveless
Omg professor loveless is saving so many students every day, he's not even teaching 125 this quarter but he's still posting life saving lectures to help students prepare their finals and to understand concepts, I so much appreciate it, I think every department need someone like him
Dr. Loveless is the goat, he actually cares about each and every one of his students. He uploads a lot of review material and extra practice.
He is as great as everyone says. Seriously the best math professor I have ever had, he explains things well, in-detail, and puts in so much effort so that students can understand everything he teaches. He was on vacation and STILL put out videos explaining the intuition behind homework problems when he saw that people needed help. Amazing.
Genuinely one of the best professors out there I think. He cares so much about his class and his students and has a bunch of really great + well-thought-out study materials. Would absolutely recommend.
Professor Loveless genuinely cares that every student enjoys learning. While the knowledge I came into math 125 with made the class relatively easy for me, the key to success is indeed going through old exams. Follow his advice regarding exam studying. If you do so correctly, you'll find that his exams are predictable. Great professor!
I have him for Math 126 and genuinely one of the best professors I have had for the math intro series (along with Nichifor). Hilarious and cares for his students (amazing resources).
It's too bad so many kids who are terrible at math take their frustration out on Dr. Loveless, because he is the goat.
............
Great professor! Truly cares about his students, and the structure and material of the class are understandable. The best professor Ive taken so far at UW
Awesome time learning from him in the 100 calculus series, I am forever grateful that I was able to have in my first quarter at UW, his tests can be difficult but the learning behind them and the strategies to approach them that he covers are intuitive and easy to follow.
I have so much respect for how much Dr. Loveless goes out of his way to make sure his students are able to understand the material he's covering. Don't get me wrong the exams are hard, but you get out how much you put in which is rare for a math class at UW. He's goated, if you can take the whole CALC series with him.
He's not a bad professor, but not what the ratings imply. I took Calc 3 after not taking Calc in a year or 2, very bad decision. He skips over steps he deems "necessary," which makes it hard to follow for someone who is practically relearning old concepts. He is very messy and unorganized, adding to why it's hard to follow. Offers office hours.
Picture this: two nights before the midterm, I was cooked. I went to bed praying I'd pass. The next morning, I suddenly understood the content. It had to be a miracle; Dr. Loveless must've visited me in my sleep. Ultimately, he's one of the few professors who truly cares about his content and students. I couldn't ask for a more Goated professor. 🐐
Great guy. big fan.
One of the best teachers I have ever had. Cares about his students learning and grades very fairly. Exam questions are always from lecture/homework content. Provides many resources.
Legitimately the best professor I have ever had. Great lectures, clear requirements on homework, fair grading on exams. Still difficult, but that is the nature of the course. Hands down the most caring and dedicated professor I have ever had. If you put in the work you will succeed.
Certainly the best professor I've ever had, amazing lectures and truly cares about his students. He's incredibly active online and his YouTube videos and discussion posts will help you master any topic in the course. Has tons of office hours and will take the time to explain concepts to you till you understand them. Can't recommend enough, the 🐐
Hands down the best prof I've ever had. The course content is a bit tough as it is calc, but he is INSANELY good at explaining tough concepts and is so so experienced. Definitely the best teacher I have had, especially in the calc series. Can't recommend him enough. Super easy to talk to, super helpful, and just a great guy. Highly recommend!
Just an all-around awesome guy.
reminds me of my funny HS math teacher.
He explains well, but I'm taking his summer 126 course and he has all these office hours, but they aren't helpful because he spends 30 minutes with 1 student and there is no time for me to ask questions. Office hours should be in person only, or he should give shorter responses or answer questions not related to the Course outside of office hours.
Absolutely amazing prof that genuinely cares about the students and that they actually understand. Took this as an online summer class but he was super accessible online (discussion board, YT, zoom reviews) so I was still able to keep up. The sheer amount of explaining he does for every question we can ask is proof he's absolutely goated!!
This was Dr. Loveless' first time teaching summer quarter and he absolutely knocked it outta the park. UW in the summer is usually pretty sleepy but it was so great to have a professor be so active and provide so many learning resources, I truly felt supported and always looked forward to coming to class. Thank you Dr. Loveless!
Outstanding professor. He really cares about his students and tries his best in every lecture. I skipped most of the lectures due to my knowledge of the material, yet the archive helps me a lot when preparing for exams. One thing I like most is that he uploads short but very useful summary videos to YouTube for us to study.
Funny, kind, and willing to work with you no matter how little you may be able to grasp the concepts he's teaching. Even after doing absolutely terribly in his class, I love Dr. Loveless and would 1000% take classes taught by him again.
Dr. Loveless is very nice guy with a lot of dad jokes. In Math 120, if you finished the homework 2 days before the deadline you get extra credit. Homework levels was very reasonable. I never felt overwhelmed in his class. He holds office hours really frequently which is very nice. He really loves his job and that honestly makes his class the best.
The course its self was way more in-depth than any high school precalc class I had taken. He is a very kind, caring, goofy, and approachable teacher. He truly cares a lot about his students and as long as you attend office hours somewhat regularly, u will be fine.
I did not click with his teaching style but others like him. I found that his lectures were not very clear. He teaches the very basic concept in class, but the homework expands on concepts in ways that are not on exams. Lots of tedious homework, but ygives EC if you submit it before 2 days before the deadline. Nice person, office hours are good.
Holy, moly. Dr. Loveless is such a good professor. He's a funny guy, so its easy to stay engaged with the material covered in lecture. He'll stay up late at night answering every single question on the discussion board. I once noticed three people stuck on the same problem, so he made three separate videos for each person. Wow.
Andrew Loveless, you are my goat.
I hate math with every fiber of my being but taking 120 with him actually wasn't too bad. I will say that there is a tonnn of hw, but he gives extra credit if you complete it 2 days early. I got the worst grade I've ever gotten in this class but that one's on me not him😔. His lectures are super engaging and informative and he always cracked jokes!
