Luma is da bomb. Most students will earn a B and perhaps an A. Only one paper due and 3 easy tests,take Luma for all political science classes,very smart man and laid back.

Take him for intro to government!! He is smart and Awesome. Not boring and he is way cool!

Very nice man. His tardiness is pretty cool considering it gives you plenty of time to get to class. However, keeps PERFECT tract of attendence records so don't miss more than 3 classes or else he will fail you! Easy tests and only 1 paper to write. :-)

He talks a lot, but not about poltical science. We only did 4 chapters the whole semester. His "lectures" are somewhat boring. He's always 20 minutes late, kinda disorganized, but very easy. You won't learn a thing, but overall, not a bad class.

EASY! EASY! EASY! Only 2 tests and 1 paper. Tests are based on the notes he gives you (I never opened the book once), he reviews a class before the test and right before the test, he even lets you ask your neighbor on questions he reviews right before the test. EASY A! He is always late!

I had him over a year ago for one semester and I remember all of his incredible stories and open views. He's one of the most intersting people you'll ever meet, tests and homework are well...easy.

If you pay attention in class, you will do fine. He teachs directly from notes in class, and he is very intresting. Has an accent. Comes to class 5 mintues late every day so we can catch up before class. Will take again.

Luma is the MAN!

This guy is awesome! He has a bit of an accent but you can understand him just fine. Take notes in class. His tests reviews are EXACTLY whats on the test. The key is to take good notes. You better do the term paper on time! He'll fail you if its late.. I promise! Don't waste your money on buying the text... you don't need it.

very easy class.. get past the accent the first week and listen to his lectures.. write down exactly what he does and u will pass test. MAD PROPS to him, because i never knew this class could be interesting.. he taught so well that when i went to go bak to study for test i knew EVERYTHING.. The class was very interesting. In order to pass take good notes, the test is exactly from the notes he gives you. The book wasn't needed. Also hated the group project. Wish it was an individual thing. Overall great professor and class.

Great professor! You MUST go to class and take good notes. The tests (mid-term and final only) are from his notes. He will review them the class before the test and tell you exactly what to study. The group paper was not hard, but annoying because some people did not care about it. Awesome class! Take this class if you need the credit!!!

Great instructor! Really easy to follow. Don't buy the book! He tells you that you need it, but he is one of the authors and you never ever use it. Just follow his notes and you will do fine. He is very fun to take. If you have a chance, take him at least once.

Never used book, if you want to buy it, buy BLUE one for $18 from bk store, the new one is no difference and you do not need it, he repeats everything all the time. Very reasonable guy, not too strict on attendence...Take him!!

Yes, he's about 10 min. late every day, but I had no problem with that. Lectures are everyday and semi-boring, but than again, I hate most ALL lectures. I wouldn't say the guy is funny, but he does produce an occasional "ha ha". During the speech, he'll interupt you to tell you how much time you have remaining. Easy class, though.

Luma is a pretty cool guy. He's always late so you never have to be on time. Get over the accent immediately because you'll come to find out that he is an amazingly smart person. His lectures are a little boring, but he tells you everything that will be on the midterm and final. Just follow his notes and you're good.

He is an AMAZING teacher. Keeps you very interested. Very animated. Take notes and you'll get an A in class. Group prject can be fun, no one gets a perfect score so don't expect it. But you can still get an A on it. Shows alot of videos. If I could take him for every class I would!!!

Luma is the best teacher i have had ever!!! The tests come right out of the notes....you don'd need the book...i took hi for both political science and american government....IT IS THE EXACT SAME CLASS!!!! so if you intend to take bot classes with him save your notes.....overall easy class

He is typically a few minutes late to each class (10-30) you get to leave early. He says book is mandatory, but,DO NOT WASTE TIME OR MONEY BUYING IT he tells you everying that will be on the test, if he doesnt cover in class its not on the tests and there is a review the class prior and then right before class. He knows everything by memory.

Very easy, however turn in your group project on time. You'll fail the class regardless of how well you did on the exams, if you turn in the project late. Great guy and makes you think.

Easy class! Not really a great proffesor like the kid below stated; however, I took intro to poly science and it was what i expected and intro! BRIEF! EASY! just take the notes and pay attention during the lectures. Also there is a group project it was easy enough just make sure you do it!

I love this dude, No homework, little class work (just basic notes which you copy of the board), He talks for about 30 minutes, always amusing, and makes the time pass and he is just a cool guy, no pressure, no attitude, he never even complains and cell phones That's what I'm talking bout! Great class, he comes to class 10 minutes to make sure you are in calss before him. Don't buy the book all you need are the notes of the board and what ever he says. for the summer courses there are only three grades which are the mid, final and term paper. Great class very easy to understand.

He graded the group project really easy too. Got an A in the class. Funny guy, interesting class. Take American Govt. with him!

He has an accent but speaks pretty clearly. Class isn't that exciting to go to but it is easy. 2 tests and 1 group project. Take his NOTES! He does review very well before his tests.

Very easy class, straight from notes. You don't need book AT ALL, but he will bug you if you don't have it. Made pol science more understandable, but does not do deep into everything. Highly recommended if you need the credit for taking the class, but not your major. Very smart, nice guy.

Take this class. I took this as a six week summer program. There were two multiple choice test, a midterm and a final. The tests are WORD FOR WORD from his notes, even all his little sayings. Study the notes you will ace this. The term paper was a joke, it was a 6 page paper divided between four people. DONT BUY THE BOOK! TAKE THIS CLASS!

He's a really nice guy, but honestly didn't learn much this semester. He starts class late and lets you out early. Attendence is mandatory and he takes attendence everyday. DO NOT BUY HIS BOOK, he is a co writer and will tell you that you need it, but you dont. I didn't even open it once this semester. Overall this class is chill and easy.

Don't buy his book. He makes money off it and you cannot sell it back. Memorize his notes word for word to ace the tests (only two-- midterm and final). You only get three grades for his class: the midterm, final, and *group* term paper. Over, he's a nice guy but I don't feel like I learned anything in his class.

I'm not sure what some of these reviews are talking about.. I thought Professor Luma, was extremely brilliant, and a pleasure to listen to! I learned so much in this class. I loved this teacher! Dont get the book i promise. He teaches what he wants you to know and his test are word for word your notes. ONLY 2 TESTS AND NO HOMEWORK EVER! You basically come to sit and listen to his humorous rants!!! He is hilarious. DONT BE LATE AND ATTENDANCE IS A MUST!

I actually had Prof Luma @PBA for Humanities III. He is an awesome teacher. Makes the material very interesting. Hardly any h/w but 2 test, 1 group project (10pg paper). Very easy if you take/study notes and show up for class!

Doctor Lumas, great sense of humor, lot of stories from africa. Tests strictly from lecture on black board. Very fair tests. No tricks, teaches, notes, tests. Luma is very strict with attendance. I missed 10% of the class which bumps you down a letter grade but manage to get an A nonetheless, so I believe he pardons your absences. Very easy class and tests are a piece of cake!

Mr.Luma is a very smart man.He just spends alot of time discussing current politics more than politics as a whole.Just take notes & ask what it says on the board if you cant tell what a certain word is.He repeats things for you so it shouldnt be hard to follow him.2 easy tests & a group project.You can only fail if you never show up.

No homework just one group project about 8-10 pages and 2 test very easy straight from the notes he makes you write and he will give you a review the class before the test and day of test. Extremely easy prof. He's as straightforward as they come, no games, no gimmicks. The book is absolutely useless as far as doing well in the class, but if you like the subject, its pretty good. There is a group paper, and two exams, both are thoroughly explained. I easily got an A. Just show up to class and take notes every time. It's great.

Kinda difficult accent to understand, but everything he says in class is important and what is tested on. (Two tests and a group paper is all you have.) He is available to help out on any questions you have, and is straightforward with what he expects and teaches. Really good and easy professor.

Lu was super chill and I used only minimal grind, if any. Take him if you get the chance.

Professor Luma is an extremely intelligent man. He may come off strict. He prefers to talk more about current political events happening around the world than he does giving notes. Tells you exactly what's on the exam. Only 3 grades, 2 are exams but no reason to get less than an "A" if you take notes, show up and spend more than 10 mins studying.

He is a fair , easy professor. I took him for summer A and I got an A. Be aware attendance is mandatory. You will have to take notes but before a test he will do a brief overview of the material he went over and what will be on the test. THE NOTES ARE VERY IMPORTANT.... everything IN UR NOTES WILL BE ON THE TEST. Also there is a 7-8 page paper.

This is by far one of the best teachers I have had ! He's really laid back . Didn't really do much in his class . We only had two test and an 8 page paper about a country that he assigned us . Other then that he is an easy A ! Just do the work that he assigns and you'll be sure to pass . He's also funny too !

Professor Luma has to be one of the most intelligent persons I have ever met. Professors like this usually make your life a living hell, but not this one. His class was so easy it was not funny. Anyone who fails this class needs to have their head examined. The only slightly challenging aspect about this class was the 8 page group research paper.

3 grades.. A midterm, final and a group project. He tells you exaclty what the questions are going to be for his 2 tests when he reviews his lecture notes, and you have the whole term to do the group project. Great interaction between students, and he really knows his stuff!

Extremely intelligent guy, but there's not a lot of material. We were supposed to have class from 6-9:45, but we never left later than 8pm. The only three grades are the midterm, the final, and a 20pt group project which isn't graded harshly. For test review, he literally reads you the test and tells you the correct answers. Tough on attendance.

Most chillest government teacher I'v never had. All you have to do is show up, take the notes, and when it's time for finals, he literally asks you the test questions. Professor Luma writes everything on the board that you need to know for his tests and gives comprehensive reviews! I took his Honors Government class, and it could not have been more straightforward. However, he does deviate from the topic often to talk about current events and life. Easy A, but I did not learn much.

If you show up to every class and take notes during the lectures, you will get a good grade. Attendance is very important, and he emphasizes strongly that if you have 3 or more unexcused absences then you will automatically fail the course. There are no homework assignments, and your grade is based on the midterm & final exam and 1 group project.

The reviews for Dr. Luma are clearly from some lazy and disgruntled students. I took him for Honors Intro to Am. Gov. Few things: you have a project to do for the semester, two tests (midterm and final) so grades are straightforward. Also, he tells you everything that will be on his test so you'll be prepared. Never needed the textbook bc of this.

Goes off topic a lot but it is always politically relevant stuff that he talks about. Never needed the textbook. Only graded on two tests and a project. Tests are based 100% off of his notes so you really shouldn't skip class. Not sure why so many negative reviews bc it was a weird class but it was a good one and I would definitely take Luma again.

I took his 12 week class that was 4 hours every Friday. It's impossible to not do well. It was 2 tests and a project with Presentation that he explains during class (what Information you need to research). Most of the class didn't do it and had to as for an extension TIP: HE READS THE EXACT TEST QUESTIONS THE CLASS BEFORE THE TEST. Easy A.

He is a great Gov professor, but his accent makes him hard to understand sometimes. Very clear on what he expects tho and like respect.

The grades in this class are based off of one midterm, a paper, and the final. Luma has hilarious stories about his life and the class was not boring at all, even though sometimes we got off topic. I recommend him.

Hes easy to listen to. Its like listening to someone tell stories and then taking a test over it. 2 tests and a paper but he literally wrote the book you are meant to ready so I would recommend doing that. Take notes. 95% of what he says is on the test word for word.

Dr. Luma is a great professor, he is very lecture heavy and if you write exactly what he writes on his board you will get an A for sure. He tells you specifically what will be on the test from the notes you've taken. Be ready to be called on in class.

I've taken professor Luma for 3 classes and got all As. He's definitely not the most organized professor, but his exams follow his lectures word for word. Grading criteria for papers isn't very clear, but he's an extremely easy grader. He's also pretty funny.

He's great. Ph.D in political science, he is very knowledgable. His classes are mostly discussion and laid back. Tests are easy if you take notes. There is one 8-10 page Essay, requirement by college as it is a gordon rule class. One presentation. Underrated professor, you don't see many like him.

honestly the only ineffective aspect about Professor Luma's lessons was the inevitability of the end of the period, which I have NEVER been able to say about a POS class before. it was as if the class just flew by, and I found myself wishing I could stay longer!Professor Luma made sure to address all assignments and exams long before due date 10/10

Very very easy class. He's very kind and always asks how everyone is and gives everyone a chance to share their opinions. To be honest, I didn't learn much and he's not super organized but he gives like no homework. We had a couple of tests and a group paper. If you study for tests and do your part in the paper you will get an A.

Great professor!

Depending on your style this class is awesome! its lecture heavy but the topics are interesting. The professor honestly enjoys what he is teaching and enjoys interacting with his students. His lectures contain all the information you need to pass. he is strict on attendance and its worth 100 points. I would take a future course with him.

I don't know how Professor Luma has a low rating on here. His class is interesting, lets his students say there own perspective and points. You will do 2 exams and a essay on a topic he assigns. He is a great professor one of the best I have had at PBSC. Trust me and take him.

Seriously, I recommend taking professor luma to anyone taking intro to American Government because he allowed his students to have their opinions and wasn't tryna to change them, so it really felt like an accepting space. grades are based on a midterm final and paper which seems scary but he is super informative on what he expects so stress free.

I loved this professor. I was glad I chose him as my first-ever professor. Everything on the mid-term and finals is gone over in class multiple times and he lays everything clear and simple. He makes sure everyone understands and accepts everyone's point of view

Easiest class ever. Only had a Midterm, Final, and paper. The paper was simple, he gave clear instructions and almost 80 topics to choose from. He accepts all people and their opinions on any number of matters. He reviews the tests the class before and its open book (including all the online powerpoints)
