He is a horrible teacher. He doesn't have any interest in his students. He is extremely difficult. His tests have nothing on them, that he discusses during his lectures. I advice you not to take him. He is absolutly the most boring man out there.

Dr. Maxwell is condescending. He is so busy talking about how superior his daughter's institution is that he never explains the subject matter in the assignments. Never again.

Don't take him. He's so busy complaining about MSU students and how much better his daughter's school is and how we all are sh*t because we don't pay fifty thousand a year to go to school. His tests blow. Total A**hole!

He is the worst teacher. He is very biased and boring. You will not learn a thing in his class. He will talk you to death about nothing and laugh at his own horrible jokes. The class is a waste of time,if taught by him.

This class was just awful! I did not learn one thing! His exam questions and the answers to these questions have nothing in common! Avoid at all costs if possible!

I was very interested in the subject material. Maxwell was extremely unclear and arrogant. His tests are true/false and the questions are horribly written. When challenged, he can not back up his teaching style, and does not care to make it better. He is a disgrace to this subject and this university.

This professor is unbelievable! He stands by his opinion alone and does not care much about yours unless he agrees with it. His tests reflect this, there are 2 T/F tests, and the questions are worded with such room for argument that it is almost impossible to answer them correctly. At all costs, avoid!

Horrible!!!!! 2 50 T/F questions, was the worse experience of my education. You can study all you want but it wont help cause the tests are worded tricky.

wow, don't bother unless you're prepared to teach yourself all the material and fail anyway. True/False midterm and final & film analysis paper are your only grades, tests are impossible, nothing to do with overall understanding of the readings. plus side - no attendance and if you miss the midterm, you can make it up same day of the final.

Do not put yourself through this torture. Tests are absolutely ridiculous and impossible to pass. He spends the entire class giving you his own opinion on everything and refuses to listen to anyone else. Horrible prof!

He is a really terrible teacher. He hates MSU students. We're not "hungry" to learn. You'll get four exams. 30 multiple choice questions. They are VERY tricky. He doesn't talk about the material in the book. I get As in all classes. I'm getting a C-, I think, DO NOT TAKE! The WORST teacher I've ever had. You might have an edge if you're black.

I'm gonna start off saying that he is the most insensitive, arrogent, and uncaring professor i've ever had...his tests are very unfair...he rambles in class and doesn't care about his students...all he cares about is riding his motorcycle and his stupid house in Maine...if you take him your just asking for an F...

This is the worst professor I have ever had. He knows his own stuff- teaches twenty year old info- and does not care at all for his students. He must enjoy talking and teaches so he can get paid to hear himself talk. His tests are so poorly worded that it does not matter if you know the material; the real trick is figuring out his opinions. AVOID

i thought he is gonna do a curve on the exam.but, he does not care if you pass or not. 25question multiple chioce....how can you will pass.....impossible i got "c"" with many hard work.if you need to take that class take it withe mayer..he is kind of ok.....

I never have worked so hard to get a B+ before. This is not an easy class and he offers no help. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I took his class. I did well but no thanks to him. My roommate took the same class with a different professor and got an easy A. Don't take him..

Tests based off the text and yet somehow it seemed to be based off a text that existed in an alternate dimension. His anecdotes are interesting but that was not why I was taking the class.

in maxwell's class you won't learn to develop your own analysis in anthropology; you are supposed to repeat after him exactly as he preaches. if you disagree with him fundamentally because of your background, culture, ethnicity or social class he will make your life HELL regardless of how an A student you are. stincks!

he might have an easy class for some who want it easy (feels most days like hanging in HS cafeteria!), but it is certainly not worth your time, money, energy AND GPA. he only talks about his life and, who could care less? teach! that's why we pay!!!!!

this is probably the worst class i have ever taken. he is the perfect example of a professor who has COMPLETELY GIVEN UP on teaching. he gives 4 tests that are only 25 true or false questions. attendance is not mandatory and you're better of not going anyway- he does not discuss any of the readings and makes his students feel dumb. do not take him.

This professor is a buffoon!He can't complete a sentence without laughing and going off subject. He missed four classes and you never know where he is in the syllabus. My advice, if you want to maintain your GPA is to take Theory at William Paterson U. You can tell he is a horrible professor because he does not do course evaluation.

Wow, i dont know what to say. dont take this guy as a professor. The material that is on the test is not from the information in the book. so sure about that one too. My GPA went done cuz of this guy, wow, unfair grading system i dont know what else to say.

Took Urban Anthro. with him very boring. All test where T/F which can be hard or easy. only 4 tests,test based on his lecture. I didn't use my book after the first test, so I wasted my money because all you have to do is come to class and take notes from his lecture. He was late or just not at class for like 2wks.

Terrible teacher. Always talks about himself. Nothing he talks about is on the test. His test are impossible even if you studied really hard. He does care about your gpa and doesn't care if you fail. avoid him at all cause~!!!!!

Drop out of this class immediately if you get this teacher. He will only want you to hate school. This was the most boring teacher I have ever had in my life. Half of what is talked about has nothing to do with your grades or things relevant to the topic. Teachers least concern is grades. You will fall asleep just by hearing him talk. Switch Out!!!

I've never had so much trouble in a 100 level course. You can learn things from him, but really nothing related to the course. If you want to read the text book and teach yourself everything then I guess he's ok, but otherwise he doesn't teach well and has no sympathy for you if you don't do well on his tests.

To be fair; he's actually a very nice personable guy one-on-one and did take time to go over my paper with me. However, this class is a lost cause -two papers with vague (at best) instructions make up the entire grade. No possibility for revisions or extra credit. I spent 5 hours roughly on each paper, worked hard but ended up with GPA killing C+

If you want to just read the textbook and go to class days of exams you might be better off. Class is interesting at times however your grade is based off of four 30 question multiple choice tests that are based strictly off the book and not covered in class. Chances are you will pass because a 51%= D but for a 100 level class could be a GPAKILLER

His exams are basically true and false and that may not seem a lot, but it is harder than you think. every time i thought i did well on an exam, I ended up with a D or lower. seriously, avoid this guy! his tests are either on the millions of pages he makes you read OR on what he says. everything he says is not in his readings either. you will fail

he doesn't teach and he basically hates our generation. he does not like technology and he will take away your phone as if you were in middle school. avoid him, he's overall the worst professor i've had

By far the worst professor I've ever had! His lectures are very long and boring. He is also very strict about phones and talks like he hates the new generation. There were only four truefalse exams throughout his class. They were very hard because there was no information given to us about what was going to be on them. Avoid this professor!
