Good math prof. Explains very well. Very Accessible but the lectures are a little too heavy!

I am not the best in math if I don't have a good prof I took this course last year and had to drop it because I was failing. If you have to take this course TAKE IT WITH HIM. He gives you examples that are actually related. He explains it better than the book ever will. You don't need the textbook but do get the WebAssign and do the assignments!

Best math prof I've ever had. As long as you go to class and practice the webassign assignments you will easily get an A. He makes everything very straightforward with no tricks and is always open to questions. He's made math enjoyable for the first time ever!

Amazing teacher, he tries to explain why he does things and helps you understand everything until you get it. He's one of the only math professors that actually explains things and tries to help you, take him if you have the chance. His lectures help you a lot for the midterms and he is an absolute gem! He genuinely cares and is passionate.

Best Math Prof! Went to some of my friends' lectures and was so lost. He's so clear and shows you the purpose of everything he does and you can tell he likes what he does. Take courses with him if you get the chance for sure!

I had another prof, and I would come to school an hour earlier just to attend his lectures! I had the best rated math prof out of the three already previously at york and I decided not to take andrews class since he was new when I took it and I didnt know much about him, but I went to one of his class and wow... a great teacher would recommend

Andrew is the best prof I ever had! This guy is like Khan Academy. He explains everything as clear as you can get! He even finds time in class to take up some problems students are having trouble with. He is overwhelmingly organized and is attentive and nice. He will explain a concept more than twice if you do not understand it. I rate 11/10.

Amazing teacher. Extremely clear and informative. He is probably the best math teacher I have ever had. If you have the chance to get into his class I highly recommend you take it and you won't regret it. His test are reflect the questions he asks in his lecture.

Truly amazing prof. I was super nervous about needing to take a math course in order to get my degree but having him as a teacher was totally worth it. I need this course as a degree requirement, I was super anxious to take it since I suck at math, but after the first lecture, all my nervousness left, he explains concepts very clearly and provides so many examples and different ways of looking at problems to ensure everyone understands, if you have to take this course TAKE IT WITH HIM!!

By far the best Math professor in York. I had to deal with 2 other professors before & no one compares to him. HE KNOWS WHAT HES SAYING and actually knows how to simplify and explain the topics. I was so scared to take Calculus because the last time I did, I only got a C-, but this man made me appreciate Calculus again. Hes also super organized!

This man is INSPIRATIONAL. He has the charisma of a rockstar, the humor of a comedian and teaches with such love and affection for his students. Every second of the class was a blast. He's an excellent prof and conveys complicated topics in layman terms. Listen really closely, you'll find a pithy of knowledge in his off-hand comments and jokes

He is an amazing prof as he teaches v well. However, there are a lot of readings and participation matters (20%) so go to each class! Final exam was oral which was really nice bc it felt like a conversation. 4 assignments that are not too hard, worth approx. 10% each. He's v nice as he gives many options to gain participation marks during class.

If you have the chance to be in his lectures, do not lose it!!

BEST PROF FOR THIS COURSE! Took this course last year and it was horrible. But this year, Prof. McEachern reinvented the course so it's more relevant and actually makes sense! He was so patient and would provide further explanation if needed! Tests are pretty hard, but he takes exact questions from practice tests, so you know what to expect!

Class was online. Tests can be challenging, but it's only because they were open book. He provides lots of resources. Practice tests were similar to the real tests (most of the time). Was generally kind, but can come off as brash when answering questions only if questions asked can be looked up easily. Just listen, do the work, and you'll do fine.

Overall a great guy; extremely patient, humorous, and knowledgeable. He is a talented educator who makes class time enjoyable and he never rushes the material. However, the tests are highly variable in their difficulty level. Probably the only class where you could study consistently and get a 100 on one test and a 50 on the next. Luck is involved.

Firstly, he is an awesome human being before anything else. I've dreaded taking math1505 at York but he made it fun and simple. He is also a great teacher. The grading criteria were clear. I really lucked out by getting him as a Math Prof during Pandemic.

Andrew is a great professor and funny guy. He revamped the course and tried to make it more relevant. The half of the course was relatively easy but the second half was incredibly difficult, especially the probability and statistics portion. No textbook, just his practice tests and online resources.

I don't have an issue with Andrew and I don't agree with other comments about how he favourites everyone, the first two exams were great, rest of the course got harder and our averages dropped which is expected. Andrew made it bearable and tested fairly. I just don't agree with the time limit. As a psyc major, completely irrelevant to my degree

Andrew is the best Prof for Math 1505! If anyone wants to complain about him first, they should look at the course content.. this course overall was meant to be challenging. While some content has been harder than another, it was VERY important to study hard and make sure you understand all his lectures and do his questions. Thanks, Andrew!

Dr. Andrew is very accommodating and is a true teacher. He'll help with the potential help that one needs. He will make you work for what you want and eventually get what you deserve. Keep up with the pace and you'll be fine.

Andrew is the best 1506 prof. You are given 5 days to write the test with as many tries as you like, which eliminates so much stress. His lectures are so fun and engaging especially when he shows frank (his cat). He does polls and goes through tutorial, test, and homework questions. Overall such a great guy. #welovefrank

Just simply the best math teacher you would ever get.

He's honestly the better prof than any of the other section. Though I do disagree with the 50% exam and the grading scheme.

He was very good and he was always able to clarify any issues we had with the materials. He was willing to address all types of issues that we had throughout the course.

Personally, I understand the concerns that people express in regards to how this course is designed to be. Truthfully, Prof Andrew provides his students with the necessary resources and learning tools needed to succeed in the course with healing prepare his students adequately. I strongly recommend everyone to take MATH 1507 with this professor!

AMAZING MATH PROF, SO EASY TO UNDERSTAND AND HE IS ALWAYS OPEN FOR QUESTIONS

Although, his classes are good, is nice, had good notes, and was very funny at times, the design of this course isn't good. The final is 41% of your grade, you have 5 tutorials (10%), 3 assignments (18%) to complete before the day of your final exam, and midterm that is 30%. He does give you a practice exam that is quite similar to the real exams.

Final exam was difficult but doable if you did proper practice questions and understood the concepts. Best professor to take the MATH1500 courses as he makes sure everyone understands and is often available for help outside lectures. He also records his lectures for students' convenience which was very helpful!

Very good prof, you can tell he enjoys teaching alot and reflects a lot from the feedbacks students give him. The course material was easy to understand, however the final exam was extremely hard so be careful of that. But I would take this class with him again.

Hands down the best math prof! Lectures are super easy to understand and he is always open to answer questions. Practice tests for the midterm and final were quite similar to the actual exams which was also really nice!

Undoubtedly one of the best professors I've met in the math department. He explains the material very well. Most quizzes are easy, midterm is mostly from the recommended homework in the textbook, not that hard. He's friendly and marks generous, and also patient to answer our questions. Overall, respect!

Amazing professor and got his own way of engaging the class. Turned math into a subject I enjoy. You need to put a lot of effort to do well on exams and retry the assignments as many times as possible to get the best grade.

I really liked the way this prof was accessible out of class in the discord and he had amazing TAs which would help you even late at night which was very helpful. he would explain things on the discord in ways that you understand and are easy to follow 10/10

Andrew was very accessible outside of class through his discord server, but he made us pay like $160 for the textbook and to do our assignments. Assignments had unlimited tries and marks were basically a freebie, the exams were exactly like the practice. Although, he can be very sarcastic and intimidating at times.

I highly recommend taking a course with Andrew. He made math FUN, and I wanted to go to class every day. He made a first-year math course feel small and engaging. I also really appreciated how he gave a practice exam to prepare, as you knew what to expect and there were no surprises. If you work hard in this class you will do well! TAKE HIS CLASS!

Ignore the haters. He was literally amazing. Love his sense of humour, love the way he follows a clear defined slideshow guide (so rare), love the ease of the concepts. A lot of people are upset because they performed poorly, not because the professor performed poorly.

As a course director I feel like it wasn't meant to be and made me slightly worried to take his class but after first class I knew that I would like him as a prof.

Lectures are very good, but his midterms use very difficult and lengthy questions.

He does a good job of teaching the material. If you do the homework and take the time to understand it, you will do good in his course

Okay im going to be honest, a lot of the people who are giving prof andrew bad reviews definitely don't do their due diligence of studying and understanding material. Professor andrew is an amazing professor that teaches very well and while he doesnt give practice exams, his tests are VERY fair if you study. He does not put new questions just study

He is a good prof and teaches using simple English which really allows people to understand the topics easily. He does give a lot of HW, but most of it is just repetition for your own practice (do not do all the HW questions obviously). His midterms questions are taken straight from the textbook, so if you do the textbook work you will be fine.

Although sassy or rude, his way of teaching ensures that everyone understands, even if you aren't that strong in math. I strongly encourage to complete the homework diligently, as well as the web assigns. You were also able to transfer the weight to the next assessment, but I strongly discourage this.

Literally the best math prof, or one of the best math profs that you can find in yorku. He TEACHES math so good that you cant compare anyone to him. I didnt know how his teaching was good until i got into 1014 and experienced other profs. Teaching is the only thing that matters.

Do the hw you will be fine.

Midterms had similar questions from the homework. If you revise hw questions you will be prepared for the midterms. The final was even better as the hw questions were the exact same on the final.

The second midterm was so hard. I crossed it in the end and did a lot exercises afterwards. The final seems easy compared to the second midterm. Do exercises , then you will be fine.

Prof makes math engaging and enjoyable. Lectures are clear, and he's always available to help, even on Discord. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for practice problems. Attend class, use the free textbook, and you'll do well.

If I could, I would choose Andrew for every course. He is beyond exceptional. I'm a mature student and have lived in several countries, experienced countless cultures, and experienced countless professors. I can say without a doubt, that Andrew is the best prof I've ever met. If you have the pleasure of having him as your teacher, TAKE HIM!

If you're want a math prof that'll help you understand the concepts really well then take the course with Andrew. The tests are exactly copied from the hw (which can be a lot sometimes) and he's a generous marker. The reality is that math is going to be hard and requires a lot of time but Andrew makes it easy to understand which is what matters tbh

Teaches well and clearly, doesn't ramble, is easy to follow along. Takes questions directly from assignments/textbook/lecture content. Each time i did more practice, my grade increased. Haven't done the final yet but the tests are very fair imo. First math class i feel semi confident in. Would recommend only him for math 1507, probably 1506 too.

He's really good at explaining all the topics. He prepares you well for the test and gives lots of practice questions but the tests are around 8-12 long questions and you only get 50 minutes. He's very accessible to reach if you have questions outside of class time.

Don't know why the negative reviews, he's a very cool professor. The TAs are a bit strict on marking but he offers to look at your tests and often gives extra marks. His lectures are pretty good, he explains topics well and often drops in jokes to wake the class up. Tests are a bit hard but if you study with the practice he gives you can do well.

He's a great prof and answers questions well. All his tests and exams in Math 1507 had no surprises as they only included questions from our MyLab or textbook homework. So, even if you don't like the prof, just doing all the homework questions before a test or exam will give you an awesome grade. And he loves cats 🐱

Dr. Andrew was an amazing professor for 1507. He teaches in a manner very conducive to learning and cares for our education. To do well I recommend: going to every lecture, participating and paying attention in class, summarizing your notes after lecture, and doing all the homework (textbook or MyLab). He is very approachable for questions. 10/10

Tough midterms and final however if you understand most topics initially, his explanations are good. Asking questions can be challenging during class as he wants to get through content quick and can answer questions poorly. Overall a funny prof and better than others may think.

Clear in his lectures and his test content is straightforward. Has a kind of dry humour which might offend some people I guess but I thought he was funny. My grade was definitely my own fault in this case and I could've done better had I studied more. Just go to class and take notes, do the pearson questions and you'll do well.

Explains everything very clearly so you can actually understand with no effort, but kinda rushed and seems passive aggressive when you ask a question. Do all the textbook questions (even if asked to do odd ones only). Expectations are clear and straightforward. I could have done better if only not the counting problems.

I thoroughly enjoyed McEachern's class. He explains topics very well, and has discord so he can be messaged any time of the week. He is quite witty, so his lectures exude character. What I really love about him is that ALL assessments are taken from the homework. So, just do all the homework, ask him questions on discord, and you will do very well.

He's literally my fav prof atm! His grading criteria and how he takes exams are like a way he wants everyone to get an A+. It's my #1 recommendation to anyone taking a math course.

I took this class in W2025. His lectures were clear and well-explained, and he often paused to make sure everyone was following along. The assignments and tests were challenging but fair and helped reinforce the material. The final had a good mix of easy and tricky questions, and practicing beforehand really helped.

Amazing Professor! Super down to earth and great at explaining concepts. Andrew would break the material down to us and explain as if we've never heard anything about the topic. Andrew was a pretty nice and funny Professor. Sometimes he went over concepts really quickly, sometimes so quick that he made mistakes on the board but he was happy to go over the steps again during or after class. The course was very test heavy but the tests were based mostly on the Webwork questions that were assigned

Legendary prof. Lectures were really straight forward and went through all questions throughly and would often redo questions if asked. Tests were fair and if you feel tests were marked unfairly, he has no problem remarking for extra marks. 100% would take again he made lin algebra very easy!
