He lacks so much clarity it's insane. If he gives you a take home test, make sure you ask tons of questions before you leave or you'll end up doing poorly.
Very disorganized and simply pulls grades out of the air, and by mid-semester, he still doesn't know anyone's name in the class!
Very passionate about topic. Very helpful and will make sure everyone understands before he moves on. Very intelligent man. He learns your name if you participate, but obviously won't see you if you don't raise your hand. Heavy accent, but intelligible.
frustrating So disorganized, and difficult to understand his accent can't remember from one class to the other what he has assigned or when something is due. participate and get on his good side and do lots of journals tests are take home but big essays

he was cool and really nice. i learned somewhat from him.

hard to understand at times and his class is so boring!
Very passionate about topic.

The most disorganized person I've ever met. Papers are just stashed in a folder and are returned very late if at all. He can't speak English very well. He writes chicken scratch on the board so your screwed if you don't even know what he's saying, 'cause you can't read it either. Funny man, just a horrible teacher.
are you serious?
take this class only if u love a teacher that treats u like crap, that doesnt educate you at all, that cant speak english, that cant write on a chalkboard if his life depended on it, and that gives u an F for A credit work.. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE TEACHER!!!
He is very unclear and his lectures are unstructured and hard to follow. Nice guy, but cannot teach.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR! AVOID HIM!
I dont care what these people below typed... This guy is a genious, there is nothing he does not know. Just listen to him inn class, hes a political expert. He keeps you interested, just participate in class and youll have no problem. Watch the news, give current events and youll easily get alot of extra credit.
From my experience I think some students have suffered a blow to their privileged ego's. He gets a feel for what the students know coming into the class (usually nothing hmmm.who's the vice-president of the U.S.?). This prof is a wealth of knowledge. He does have an accent so I asked him to repeat sometimes but he didn't seem to mind.
I never read the book and I got a B-. He knows alot and goes off in a tangent every so often. Not well organized but he is always willing to help. Pay attention in class thats my best answer and do work little by little because it will add up in the long run
Microwave
He knows what he's talking about, but doesn't always make it clear what you should know or do. AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD USE A TITLE PAGE FOR PAPERS!!! lol
Entertaining teacher but good luck figuring out what the hell is going on.
Very confusing and unclear. I hope he does not teach the POLI105 course.
I liked Dr. Musila's class. He is hard to understand at times but if you ask him he will try his best so you can understand him. His accent isn't THAT bad. I've had much worse. Cover pages are a must, and its true he is a bit unorganzied. He is funny and has good jokes. He really opened my mind on the issue of America being so great.
This man is amazing. I enjoyed his class a lot. In one semester i have learned so much about our govenment.
I dreaded going to the class everyday, but it wasn't too bad. He just doesn't know how to spark a conversation, and expects people to participate. It's easy to get an A if you DO THE EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENTS!!
Very good professor - for those of us who are willing to open our eyes and understand his underlying goal. Musila doesn't want students to fail - he encourages them to know more about what is going on in their world. Very good sense of humor. He's a good man. If you're willing to do your work and participate, you'll get a good grade.
Hes extrememly helpful and extremely smart. Just go to his office when you need help and he will help you out alot and answer any questions. Too many people sit and class and complain instead of being active with their grade. He is the reason I am a Poli Sci Major!
Great Professor. Kept the discussions going, was an easy grader and really interested in what students thought. His English is not so great, but he repeats stuff without getting frustrated. Would take another class with him anytime.
Don't buy the textbook. You will NEVER open it. If you discuss things in class, you should be fine. This professors loses a lot of papers. If you're one of the few unlucky that gets your stuff lost often, then this class will be a real pain. That being said, this class wasn't bad; a little frustrating at times, but not entirely bad.
The worst professor I've had in my life. Horrible, horrible, horrible!
Hes a funny guy but thats about it. He checks this site and because of it he makes sure people buy the book now. He knows no one reads it but just to make it feel like hes doing his job right he makes you read it. Today I had class with him and were already 3/4 into the semester he just has realized that no one uses the text so now hes giving every
10 points for a 3 page essay test? Class should be passable for most... Not too interesting though.
Dr. Musila changed my view totally about American poilitcs. Before him i did not care, After him teaching me I am very interested. He has the ideal teaching style where there is interaction with students instead of other lame professors who just read a script. I've been in college for 4 years in 3 states and by far he's the best professor ive had
Look, if you don't like Dr. Musila your a fool. He keeps class interesting so that you could never fall asleep, and I'm never bored. Dont say anything about his accent becasue 1st its not that bad and 2nd if you thought it was you should have dropped it. Why do people like having lectures with no participation? There Foolish thats why. Damar Dowell
He is nice if you are buddy buddy with him.
He's not an easy professor. But he cares for the students that show that they want to learn the subject. Read up on the news and participate in his class. You should be good. Don't be afraid to visit his office, he's really helpful.
I hate politics but it was a good class. He's a completely different person outside of class so go and see him at his office when you can. Tests pretty reasonable for the most part. Participation is a big thing so don't hold back when in discussions in class
Dr. Musila is very funny and is so helpful. I agree that it is better to see him in his office. Although sometimes it was hard to hold a conversation with CNN blasting in my ear. He may be a bit unorganized, but he is passionate about the students and subject matter. I used to hate politics, but now I am an avid watcher.
Such a good professor. My favorite at LHU. Hes really funny, and makes the class interesting. His accent isn't that hard to understand, and sometimes, it makes me laugh. The class overall was pretty easy. I took him twice because I enjoyed his class so much the first time around. Take Musila if you can.
Dr. Musila is very bright and nice. He is one of the best professor that Lock Haven University has to offer. It is a guarantee, after taking one of his class you will be knowledgeable in that subject matter. You have to put in the effort to do well, and GO to class. His class is very interesting. Dr. Musila has passion for his profession.
One question. Where is his grading scale at? He just makes up grades. I really like Musila as an instructor. He would be so much better if he had structure. I recommend him for he requires you to interact with him. However, he grades off of how much he likes you. He has no comprehensive grading scale. Very biased liberal teacher.
Horrible.
This is the best professor of all time. He gives students lots of room to think independently and always open to give the needed advice. I took his class last year and to be honest I would rate him as one of the best who is not he only there to teach but to make his students understand the real concept of his teaching and help make better choices
The worst teacher I have ever had. He is straight from Kenya teaching American politics. You can't understand what he is saying. He is very bias toward democrats, so if you are a republican don't voice your opinion or you will fail!
alright easy to get a gd grade if you are a gd student
Brilliant. Very biased. Anti-US. Text - required reading not used or tested at all. Grades on relationship. Three good papers - not returned or graded. Shy conservative or wasp go elsewhere. Sycophants =A.
Dr. Musila's class was absolutely entertaining, he is passionate. Learning in this class stimulates personal ideological growth. Take him-your views will find solid ground. He may be bias, but he will tell you that and he is only trying to stir debate- only most students hunch and shy away.
Easy class. Just suck up to him and his opinions. When he asks for a paper based on opinion, side with his and you will be fine. I gave a moderate effort and received a B+ which I am happy with. His class is actually very exciting too. He is one of the funniest teacher's I have had. It was nice to not have to memorize useless dates and facts inclas
He's a good teacher, a funny guy and very willing to help you understand the concepts. However he expects you to read the book and be in the class discussion. His tests are all essay and short answer, but easy if you pay attention. He gives lots of extra credit for participation, only problem is he has a think Kenyan accent which can be to tough
I am doing well in his class this semester. I took Burnham for World Politics last semester and failed so I'm retaking it with Musila. Compared to Burnham, Musila is an excellent professor. He is funny and gets the class to participate. I think he grades very fair and the random homework assignments aren't that hard. I liked having him teach.
At first he can seem a bit intimidating, but he's really a funny guy and his classes are entertaining. He really knows his stuff and he genuinely wants his students to do well. If you have a problem, you can definitely talk to him about it. He's challenging and he makes you think, but I would take Musila over any other Poli Sci professor any day.
Seriously, this guy knows everything about politics. One if my favorite professors. I even took poli 107 as an elective just because he was teaching. All if these people complaining probably just aren't into politics. Very liberal. Conservatives might not like him but should be open to what he has to say. The guy is incredibly smart!!!
Dr. Musila is amazing!!! If you show up to class, and pay attention to what he says, you will for sure pass! He is very knowledgable on everything he teaches, and he DOESNT want you to think like he does, he actually encourages debate. True, he does have a Kenyan accent, but if you can't understand him, he doesnt mind repeating it.
My favorite aspect of Dr. M is that he has an opinion on everything! Talk to him, he loves getting into a debate. Also, I love it when he says "Hell NO!" Take the class. Lots of fun!
Tests are pretty hard.. He's entertaining though and really funny. Debates during class time are usually fun. The only way to get points is tests. I wish he assigned a few homework assignments or group work because if you don't do tests well.. you may suffer grade-wise. If you attend class all the time though and participate, I'd say it's alright.
Musila really cares about student success. He goes above and beyond to prepare you for a test, and everything he goes over is on the test. He cares about the big picture and less about pointless details. At first, it's hard to get used to his teaching style and tests, but by the end of the course you will love him! He is funny and sweet.
Great guy. extremely helpful and a great teacher. Got annoying about how liberal he was. But a very intelligent and hard working man. Made students work for their grade but didn't require too much work.
This professor in my opinion has a non-standard form of curriculum. There's been class after class spent in discussion about nothing pertaining to our exams(grade majority). He is very forward to burn your opinion in a debate if not corresponding with his own. That is not teaching, that is dictating with intent of influencing your own opinion.Ctd.>
<Ctd. Also, Dr. Musila has a tendency of calling out to all of his 'Fellow People' to support his defense, whether right or wrong, opinion or fact. His views and ethics on the treatment of his students are shallow and very one sided, with no facts to support reasoning. As for 'World Politics', I learn more about this guys opinion, and It's not free
Dr. Musila is an outsatanding professor. I have had him a total of 4 times and counting for various courses. Yes he has an accent but he will repeat anything a million times if you do not understand him. He is a fair grader and really cares about students. If you take his courses, read the material; it is worth your while. Pay attention & u'll pass
Dr. Musila is very demanding. the one thing i did not like about him is the fact that he is not a man of his word. often times he will just go with the flow, forget what he said, or change his mind days after he said one thing.
He is great professor who help students understand what is going on in the world of politics. He encourage discussion in the class so that students are able to give their opinions and also learn from each other
I loved his class, my favorite college class to date! He is so interesting and funny. He really gets you involved in every aspect of the class. He is also not out to get you his exams are super easy! They probably aren't even easy but he explains the material so well you just know it! I would take him over and over again if possible. What a delight
He is a great professor. He will do his best to help you out. He encourages you to read the newspaper and become familiar with current event in the world. I find his exams challenging but passing. Read the book and pay attention in class and you will be fine! Stopping by his office is also a good idea!
Musila is a boss, take him for as many classes as you can... "Whats new?"
Musila is a very tough teacher. He is hard to understand. If you don't understand him he is nasty towards you. He does not care if you are failing. Hates America!
This guy is a bad teacher he just rambles on and is not clear at all! don't recommend!!!!!!!!!!
he has a thick ascent and I feel like hes out to get you i revived a b but that's because he gives out alot of points
Make sure you study a lot for the tests. Its hard to know what will be on the tests. I thought for sure I was going to fail but I ended up getting a C. He gives extra credit for class participation, make sure you take advantage even if you think you'll be fine, his tests are harder than I expected. Also make sure you know about current events/gov
Dr M is never out to get you. He builds his exams up as worthy...but see passed that because he only cares about what you derive from his class. He loves spreading knowledge...period, and you can tell he cares about his students. He's extremely sarcastic, so challenge him back and participate and you'll be fine.
Prof. Musilas class room is nothing more than a liberal spin zone. You will not learn from a fair perspective and his course will make you dumber.
Professor Musila is an over all good instructor. Participate in class and do the homework, and you will do just fine. A funny, high personality guy, who opens debates everyday about "What's new?" Professor Musila has one drawback, he is EXTREMELY unorganized. Often forgetting what he assigned day to day. You're lucky if you get graded papers back.
Dr. Musila never uses power points or the board to help students understand his teaching. He lectures every class and says not to read the book. He is hard to understand and not very helpful. We were never given study guides or specific things we must know for the tests. We learned nothing that was on the test.
He is going to use nothing except lecture, his test criteria is unclear. He isn't specific or organized at all. We handed something in at the begging of the semester and it is the ending week and he is now asking us to resubmit it because he lost it, he's a funny guy. Be sure to participate in class but be ready to write and read!!
I do Not recommend this class for anyone who is unwilling to discover a better understanding of both global & political issues. Dr. Musila offers students an alternative to being part of the uninformed, ignorant youth within the United States. He grants unbiased knowledge while encouraging students to form their own unique thoughts and opinions.
I have learn a lot from this teacher he has really good skill of teaching if I graduated year ago but if I get chance I would definitely take his class again
I was very skeptical of my first World Politics class as a freshman, however Dr. Muslia has made the class very enjoyable. He doesn't dive straight into lectures, instead he tends to come in being funny and try to loosen up the mood of the class. That said, he's very smart and covers a lot in a day so come prepared!
This man is the greatest professor to walk to face of the earth. He is a legendary man. I would take this class over and over again. Very enjoyable and every Tuesday and Thursday it warms my heart. This class is my everything.
If you want an organized professor, look elsewhere. Hes very demeaning and didnt even use the book. He has a strong accent and very unorganized and doesn't even know what's going on half the time. Hes unstructured and lazy and lectures very heavy and makes note taking very hard
Overall hes a great person, he is a very funny guy. He has a very thick accent. So it makes it difficult to understand him sometimes, he also talks fast. Making it very hard to follow and take notes. He is very unorganized and doesnt really know what hes doing half the time.
Hes really funny and kind as long as you participate. The more you interact the better it gets. But dont be shocked when he plays devils advocate for every political point you throw at him.
Due to Covid, Dr Musila's world politics class was going to be taught online. According to my schedule, it was going to be taught on zoom at a certain time. A few days later, he emails everyone back and says the class will be taught asynchronously, meaning you do the work on your own time. He is awful with communication, doesn't understand d2l..
Doesn't upload a single thing onto D2L. Tried to give us a quiz on something he didn't even teach us yet and didn't realize until we pointed it out. Incredibly unorganized and unorthodox.
He is just not good. He is so clearly one sided within politics. And in a World politics class that is not how it should be. He once said that it was a girls fault for getting raped and killed. He also has said that everyone that is not vaccinated deserves to die. So take that as you will.
This is the worst class I have ever taken in my entire academic career. He is incredibly rude, does not upload anything to D2L, never answers his emails, and does not give you opportunities to make up work even if your absence is excused. He is absolutely the worst professor at LHU.
I took Global Issues over the winter break and I have NEVER had such a bad experience with a professor. We had to write a page answering a question that related to the readings for the week. That was fine, however, if he doesn't agree with how you answer he will fail you. His comments were rude and he didn't grade until the last day.
Dr. Musila has the goods.
When I took him the lectures he had were extremely informative. Participating is what made his classes great. The tests were extremely easy understand.
Show up to class, take notes, joke with him and it's an easy A
Show up to class and participate and you will be fine.
Dr. Musila is full of knowledge and has the goods.
Class itself wasn't hard but didn't put midterm grade in until weeks after midterms were due. Didn't actually put grades into bright space until 2 weeks before the end of the semester.
I would never take him again and would never recommend him. He was so inaccessible, rude, and if you could reach him he was unhelpful. He had unclear grading criteria, the way he worded things were incredibly confusing, and never graded anything on time. Very few assignments or tests so what you got on it really mattered. Save yourself the time.
He posts an assignment every 2-ish weeks, posts the "required textbook" in the syllabus but no assignments use the text book ($60). Doesn't post any announcements in brightspace. Doesn't respond to emails. Very unorganized. Assignment prompts are based on opinion and if you don't answer how he wants, you're wrong. Absolutely do not take his onlines
He was great and is an easy grader! He is willing to help if you actually try to get help and not just complain. You need to actually go to his office hours and ask questions. Don't be a baby.
One of my favorite professors I've ever had. Extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches. Very accommodating and accessible. He's hilarious too!
Worst professor ever. Took this course online, he never communicates, he posts work with no explanation, never answers emails…EVER, and is so rude. I had office hours with him and he was screaming at me and was saying rude things about how i treat my academics. He grades terribly. There is no book either. I do not recommend this class at all.
Easily my favorite professor. Dr. Musila is very knowledgable and I found his classes to be engaging and a lot of fun. Wish he had more courses for Poli Sci, so I could take those too. As long as you show up and participate in class, he will like you.
Professor Musila's POL107 class can be a mixed bag. Attend and participate to do well, but be prepared for unorganized lectures and unclear expectations. Try using unstuck AI for helpful study aids.
I took his online International Relations course and for two weeks nothing was posted. We were told to purchase a book but he gave very little instruction on what and when to read. After the first two weeks he had posted a few articles to read but then the next week, nothing again. There was no clear structure whatsoever. I ended up dropping it.
he is a difficult person and not a good online teacher. he barely explains the assignments and when he does its very confusing. if you email him about it he will either not respond or be short and rude with you. he does not communicate well at all. if you figure out how to actually do the assignments he isn't a harsh grader, but overall very rude.
There is no strict schedule for this class. He posted our "Test" at 4:50am on Easter Sunday and it was due at 2am a few days later. Very unclear, doesn't actually teach, you're pretty much just writing two discussion modules a week and that's the class. Incredibly easy but incredibly frustrating.
The worst class I ever took, had it online with my friend, worked together and submitted similar things; he always got better grades. Also, if you like to know what you are doing, you won't, he'll give you 5 articles for the whole class and you have to use those on everything. Don't bother buying the $50 textbook when you never use it.
Entertaining lectures. he is a slow grader and incredibly unprofessional. Gave me an ungraded exam with no notes on it and got upset at me for not knowing he wanted me to read the answers to him. literally entered a random letter grade for my midterm. Rude to his students, impossible to reach via email. Would love to know how this man got tenure.
Constantly getting off track during lectures, language that he uses is incredibly unprofessional. Also claims that he can not read students handwriting on exams he will ask you to read it to him, once read to him he never puts in the grade, weeks later when a grade is submitted its a random grade, and he will claim you never read to him.
If you take a class with Dr. Musila DO NOT purchase the text book that he puts in the syllabus, you will never use the textbook, as he gets side tracked to much you will never get to the point of needing the text book.
