Professor Nestler lectures well, is accessible, and approaches students with patience and understanding. He's challenging, but so is the subject; I left his class feeling well prepared to continue to more challenging material. He's clear about his expectations and invested in the success of his students.

Math 11 is far from an easy class, however Professor Nestler brings humor and an earnest desire teach you the subject material. If you are looking for an easy A, don't take Math 11 in general. However, Prof. Nestler provides ample resources and office hours to help progress your understanding. Utilize this if you want to be successful.

In a class that is very difficult, especially during the shortened winter semester, Professor Nestler not only does a good job of explaining concepts, but makes it fun with jokes as well, reducing the stress of an accelerated class. Professor Nestler improved my math skills overall by showing neat tricks to solve problems without a calculator.

His criteria for grading seems to be intentionally ambiguous. There are only exams and the "suggested" practice problems seemed to be chosen carelessly. He gives no feedback on them. The class before an exam he sent us a PDF with problems that were from material NOT in the textbook and had no answers. It ended up being a large portion of the exam.

This professor is great at teaching. He will give lectures in an ordered manner and you will have plenty of chances to ask questions. However, correct notation is extremely important because the points off can add up. Although he is difficult, participation is extremely important in understanding the material.

This class was incredibly difficult, but Calculus 2 in general is difficult. The issue was the lack of a study guide and the range of questions to be tested on was wide. It also didn't help that new sections were covered on Monday and included on the exam that Wednesday. If you take him, bush up on your trig identities & trig in general.

His grading is brutal and nonsensical. Tests were graded harshly, with significant points taken off for incorrect notation. I cannot stress this enough, make sure to use the notation he presents in his notes. Office hours helps a lot with this. Lectures were interesting but tended to drag. He tries to add humor, which I respect.

Even when you get the correct answer on a question expect the words "Yes but" written on your exams with -1pts. Only use his "notation" if you want at most a B in this class. If you're a self-learner this probably isn't the prof for you.

Professor Nestler is truly a gem in the math department. He has a straight forward method of teaching and grading. He is very lenient with partial credit and allows for you to solve problems using various other methods. Just like any other advanced math course, you have to put in the work and be ready to solve problems from the textbook.
