Great professor, go to lectures and you should do well. I've never used the book yet and I have an A (took AP chem in HS though) but his clarity in lectures are great, take good notes and you should be fine. I think you'll def make a difference in the chemistry dep here at temple.
He is the man!!!!!! Best Chemistry Professor ever... He trys his best to help his students learn, and sincerely cares about everyone. He doesn't use powerpoint, so Make sure you attend his lectures, and take good notes, and you should be fine. He also has a great sense of humor, and once in a while, he does in-class demonstrations that make the cla
He's a really good professor that really wants his students to do well. He takes his time and if you listen in lecture you should be fine.
He's okay... He's not that helpful if you're not doing so well in the class. He is a great teacher though, as in clarity, and trying to help you pass but there is so much material in the class that you need the extra help, and if you're already downhill he won't help you... he didn't help me
awesome teacher. very clear! tests are fair and its easy to get an A!
Great Professor. Easy To get an A in his class. He is so clear and gives many examples so you can understand him. and also he CURVES!!!!! If you want a good grade, take him. Also he has a cute little British accent
He provides numerous examples which help you understand the material better. His tests are multiple choice and open ended problems which can help you out if your not real good at one or the other testing type. Also he curves based on the average. Overall the class was fun and valuable
I think he is a bad teacher... if ur not doing good he wont help you... but thats ok, what goes around comes around.... take another teacher, i hope he gets fired
Great professor! Doesn't have useless powerpoints, lectures with lots of interest and explains concepts VERY WELL. You MUST MUST attend class and take good notes and you will do well. Also he curves... definetely recommended.
If you go to lecture and are willing to devote your time to studying, then youll get an A. Its as simple as that.
if youre a legit student then youll easily get an A. just study hard from the very first test on!
the most amazing teacher ever :), trust me you wont regret taking him. He is very helpful and a great grader, i want him for chem2 but all the classes are gone *poof* oh well
I am usually good at chemistry but Its really hard getting an "A". The Hardest teacher ever. Avoid now, avoid now, avoid now avoid now. You have been warned. Its not my fault when you drop out.
Hardest teacher ever
Turn back around and go find another teacher!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! immediately. 40 percent got below a 'C'.
Great teacher. In fact, the best one we have. But with any chem course, you have to be a good student! Study hard and you will get an A.
The Best Chemistry Professor Ever!! He makes sure u understand the material!! but the exams are tough!!
His exams are really hard, but if you study and go to class you'll get an easy A or B.
This guy really knows how to teach chemistry. He writes down the notes as you write them down. His explanations can't be any clearer. I love it. He can be pretty funny at times too. That being said, Dr. Price is probably the best professor I've had. Yes, his exams are rather tough but you just have to study like a normal college student would!
Tests are HARD!! Not too many people fully completed his exam in the time given. VERY DIFFICULT
He is the best Chem teacher I ever had. I actually look forward to going to his lectures because he explains everything thoroughly. He'll answer any questions you have for him. Everything he says is clear and he can be entertaining and fun at times. Very nice man.
Price was pretty good. He taught the class clearly. He used the projector and sometimes it was hard to read his writing. Did demonstrations to help us learn. Tests were a bit hard - part mult. choic and open ended problems. Study hard and you will be fine.
He is a really good teacher, uses demonstrations and teaches straight from book. Go to lectures, they really help. The exams are extremely hard but the final is pretty easy because its standarized. Make sure you study, A LOT!
Dr. Price is an excellent chemistry professor and is perhaps the best teacher I have had so far at Temple. He will explain the concepts well and write the notes down himself. His tests, however, are incredibly difficult and involve more concepts than needed. Still, study hard and you will get an A or a B. He curves, so that is a bonus!!!
Grate professor!...Writing notes down, giving useful examples, that are easier to remember. However, test are hard.
he is the great professor I can ever have. He teaches all the concepts very well however his tests are conceptual so sometimes test comes out to be difficult.
He flies through the material, and follows true to the text. He is funny, and cracks corny chem jokes to lighten the mood. The exams are challenging and are a combination of everything you've learned. MasteringChemistry is a pain in the butt. I used it for HW and Exam I. Study hard for the exams. He may be a cool guy, but he's not cool in exams.
He is an excellent professor but his tests are hard. He uses helpful examples during lectures, so do not skip lectures. He also curves which is pretty good. Everything is from the textbook, so prepare to have the book with you wherever you go to read and study it.
Dr. Price was a very good teacher. He doesn't ask for much, just go to his class and read the material. His lectures are extremely helpful. If you don't try you might have trouble but then again, if you don't try, who cares about you.
I had him for Chem 1031 and I now have him for Chem 1032. He is a nice guy and explains everything in detail. He is very helpful and I enjoyed his class. I HIGHLY recommend taking his class!!
His lectures and demos were definitely helpful in my learning experience. I never read the textbook at all for his class, using it only for the practice problems, and I still got an A! That's how great a professor he was. Exams were a bit difficult but all the questions were similar to ones done in class. I wish this guy taught orgo!
One of the best chem teachers I've ever had. Lectures are crystal clear, and it's apparent that he wants his students to do well. Therefore, DON'T SKIP LECTURE. He goes through many examples in class that are like homework problems and test questions. Tries to lighten things up by telling corny jokes and stories. Exams are difficult but are curved.
Great chemistry professor. Lectures are crystal clear. Dr. Price takes the time to go over homework and potential exam questions in class. Its worth the time..go to lecture.Genuinely interested in students doing well.
great professor! explains material extremely well and grades fairly...
I had him for both Gen Chem I and II. I loved his class so much that I actually looked forward to it. His lectures were very interesting because he included many demos to further explain the material. His exams were on the difficult side but you've just gotta do a bunch of practice problems.
Dr. Price is a funny guy. His exams are not funny. I failed the first one, and I've never failed anything in my life. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY for this class. It will be one of the harder ones you'll take, and he will not make it any easier. His exams are harder than the average Gen Chem exam, because he writes them all himself.
Great teacher and nice person. Writes all his notes during class old-school style. Great sense of humor and willing to help you if you see him during office hours (though avoid doing it too much or else he'll just tell you that you have test anxiety). Tests are on the hard side, but easy tests aren't going to prepare you for higher-level thinking!
His lecture are very clear and his notes are worth taking. But do be prepare to take NOTES cuz there are LOTS of it, however the notes are VERY HELPFUL. GOOD teacher overall. ps. if you are a pre-pharmacy student definitely try to take him cause what you learn in his class will help you on the PCAT.
Great teacher, One of the best for chem I. The tests are hard, but if you do well on mastering chem and quizzes it'll help.. he curves which is helpful or else half the class would fail.. He makes an effort to be very helpful and he always keeps you up to date on his blackboard page... def recommended him to others
I had Dr. Price for GenChem 1 & 2. He is a nice guy, however, u ll never have time to finish the exam. READ THE BOOK, so when u r taking his exam, u will know immediately what are the concepts he is testing u. There is no such an "easy exam" in the chem field. When u take Organic chem, u will find out Gen Chem is a piece of cake compare to organic
In my opinion Dr Price teaches well for you to grasp the concept. His lectures are very detailed and understandable but come to Exam day you will be highly dissapointed. His exams are REALLY HARD, and you wont be able to complete it. if u have another option take another Prof because the main goal is to understand the concept and PASS THE CLASS!!
Andrew Price is excellent when it comes to giving detailed explanations of the material he is teaching. However, he does not usually answer questions when people raise their hands, you must talk to him after class. Overall, he is a good teacher, I would recommend him.
Dr Price taught a great class. He was extremely organized and a quick grader. Tests were difficult at times but what do you expect. Also, he curves which is a plus. Overall, a class A prof at Temple. Would certainly take again.
He is an absolutely great prof! He does so many examples in class to try and help you understand the material. I actually looked forward to going to lecture :) Tests are difficult..but if u do mastering chem and alot of book problems...they're not that bad!!! :)
He is honestly the only General Chemistry prof to take. I had him for both Gen Chem I and II and I learned so much more than any other students taking other profs. His tests are hard, but he prepares you well. He's also very willing to help if you take advantage of his office hours. He really cares and wants you to understand the material!
His Exam are too hard, that is the big problem.
The only gen chem prof at TU worth taking. All others are horrible. His exams are hard but if you go to class, pay attention, read the book, do the homework... definite A. Focus and you will be well prepared for final.
He is the best Gen Chem prof of all the choices. Teaches via notes that perfectly outline chapter. Willing to help outsid of class. He is really nice. Exams are hard but you just got to study a lot. I learned a lot with him and recommend him to anyone! Just remember its a hard subject so thats why many students give bad ratings. studying + work = A
His exams are so hard, it's almost not even worth taking him. He's so clear in lecture and really nice, but SO hard. I had him for Gen Chem I and II. His exams are impossible to finish in the given amount of time if Chem isn't your strong suit. All I did was study for this class ALL SEMESTER and I have to retake it. Final Exam is standardized.
HE'S THE MAN!!! IF YOU'RE PLANNING TO TAKE GEN CHEM, TAKE HIM FOR BOTH I AND II. YOU'LL LOVE HIM! HE EXPLAINS REALLY WELL AND VERY LENIENT ABOUT GRADING. PEOPLE ARE SAYING HE'S HARD BUT I DIDN'T THINK HE WAS HARD AT ALL.
Best teacher I've had thus far! His lectures are crystal clear and if you frequently visit him during office hours for help he will basically spoon feed you knowledge. His class average exams are usually in the 70% range which is highest of gen chem teachers. He gives study guides and back exams. Do the homework, study every day and you'll do good.
He is a great teacher, if you care about the class and try you will get an A- at least
He is such a great teacher! Explains things clearly and if very very helpful if you come to him during office hours. He makes pretty funny jokes in lecture, honestly just take him.
Dr. Price is a really nice, funny guy. He explains concepts in lecture very well, although his tests are kind of hard. If you study the material well, you'll be fine, though!
Probably the best Gen. Chem. teacher that you'll be able to pick from. Best teacher but his test are extremely hard, you have to prepare for them and be willing to put in work to get an A. Best lecture teacher there is, explains everything clearly if you read before and you can do well if you practice the back exams, study guide, and do your hw.
Very thorough
Dr. Price is a great lecturer! Very engaging and explains chemistry with a great sense of humor while also being crystal clear. Tests are not that difficult if you prepare adequately, though they're not easy either. Attend lectures, recitations, and complete homework, and you'll be fine.
His lecture are really helpful, although I never attended his class much. His homeworks are really easy and he gives pop quizzes the day before a test. His tests are really hard in my opinion, but he curves them. I ended up with a B in the class and my 5 other friends got a C+.
Great Teacher. Lectures are a huge help and explains everything very clear by writing everything thing out with you not on powerpoint. His exams a extremlly hard but are worth it casue he curves every one, plus his test are hard but when it comes to the final (standerized) it makes it super esay. Take him if youwant tolearnChemistyand getagoodgrade
Good teacher overall, hard class but it's manageable. Do the homework, prep for quizzes both lecture and recitation, and maintain good study habits. While his lectures may not fully correspond with the difficulty of the exam, you have the material to do well and get an A. Practice exams don't help, but the textbook, hw, and notes do; utilize this.
Chem is a hard subject, so it's not going to be easy. However, having taken it a bunch of times at Temple, I can say that Dr. Price is who you should take if you have to take chemistry. He makes things very clear and his tests are not that hard if you read the book and pay attetnion in class.
Wish all Temple science teachers were like Dr. Price, maybe getting into Pharmacy school would be so much easier if that were the case. He is straight forward and makes sure not to waste your tuition like so many others. Commit at least 10-12 hours (minimum) to chemistry a week and you will get an A. Material only gets harder continue to work hard.
Hard but he is a good professor
Great professor. Organized, thorough, and clear. Exams are moderately difficult only because he words problems differently than what you may have seen before. If you know how to do the work than study by reading as many different types of problems so you can understand different conceptualization that will be on tests.
Dr. Price is a great professor. He is very to easy to understand and is the most precise, organized, and thorough professor I've ever had. Do not take anyone else for chemistry. Tests are difficult, but very doable..study his notes and you will be fine. Consistently beat the average and do well on quizzes and homework and you will get at least a B.
Not that this guy needs anymore fanfare (he all ready has multiple teaching awards), but he is the one you want to take for chemistry. I have taken Childs, Thomas and Price and Price is far and away the most thorough, helpful, professional and congenial professor of all the chemistry teachers.
Good teacher, very organized, the exams are hard at times, but chemistry isn't cake. Best in the dept. imo, high acs final average and friendly during office hours. You have to put work into this class, if you do, expect nothing less than a B.
Great teacher!
To all incoming freshmans, take Price if you're serious about studying as a science major. he is extremely good at teaching, but his tests are quite difficult. If you're looking for an easy grade, take Childs instead.
he is ok with presentation, he writes every by hand during class without power-point, which I think much helpful...but his exam is hard
One of the greatest professors at Temple. Extremely clear in his lectures, writes out notes during class so its easy to follow. Helps out anyone who asks for it. Tests are pretty hard but as long as you do the problems in the book and really try to understand the material you'll do fine. Got an A- in both 1031 and 1032
Great teacher! His tests are hard but Chemistry is hard so you have to just study and you will do fine in the course. Very helpful during office hours and also available through appointment easily. If you want an instructor that teacher you Chemistry correctly get Dr. Price!
Amazing teacher, very helpful specially if you see him during his office hours. The tests are VERY VERY difficult, if your looking for an easy A, this is NOT the class for you. Always practice problems and do the homework and you'll be in good shape. Otherwise go for Gilbert or Childs for an easy A and no understanding of Chem 1
Best Professor at Temple but must be willing to put alot of effort into the class. Test averages are around mid 70s.
The comments posted are not exaggerations, his tests are extremely difficult. However he curves each individual test and also applies an overall curve at the end. All of that really isnt important though because Dr. Price is simply an amazing teacher. His work ethic is impressive as he writes out his entire lecture at least twice a day. Great prof.
tests were okay. I got a B overall, but in order to an A, you need to be able to comprehend the material well and be able to think outside the box. decent guy but sometimes he can make pretty corny jokes.
Dr. Price is an excellent chemistry professor, but it is chemistry. It should not be an easy A for most people. You have to understand the concepts thoroughly and apply them. If you're planning on applying to graduate school for a health profession, he's definitely the chemistry teacher you want.
Dr. Price is an amazing teacher. He prepares you well for the ACS exam and is overall very helpful. Although his exams are fairly difficult it is not hard to pass with an A or B. It all depends on how much work you are willing to put into the class.
If you're taking Chemistry seriously, take him for Gen Chem I and II. He prepared you well for the ACS exams. His tests are not hard if you study, they're just too long. Understand the materials, do practice problems, and you will be fine. He's funny sometimes
honestly one of the best teachers i've ever had. his exams are challenging, only because they're lengthy. do the practice problems he suggests and your mastering chemistry & you'll be fine. he's also really intelligent and his notes are very clear and descriptive and as long as you see him during office hours he's a big help! he's pretty funny too
Dr.Price teaches both General Chem I and II at Temple. He is one of the most difficult teachers, but if you want to learn something and understand the material, he's the guy you want to talk. His tests are the worst! They are so difficult mostly because they are too long. But as long as you do the homework and go to class you'll pass it. Best Prof!
He is my favorite teacher. He teaches everything so well. Try to understand what he says in lecture, do masteringchemistry, review your notes 2 hours for each exam. And you will get an A in his class.
Everyone who takes Chem takes the same tests so if someone has another teacher, they are going to take the same test. He really teaches you everything you need to know for the test, but the test are base off of how well you can think of a solution. I seriously studied for 2-3 hours everyday and in the end I got an 96 (w/o the curve).
Amazing teacher. Expect to put it a lot of work to receive your end of the bargain because otherwise you will do bad. Very dedicated to his work.
Really nice guy and really knows his stuff. Is very clear in class, you just need to take good notes and regularly attend class.
One of the nicest professors at Temple! Knows his stuff. He's very helpful during his office hours. Has a sense of humor. He's not as difficult as people make him to be. Study his notes, do practice problems from the book and MasteringChem and you'll do fine. I took him for both Gen Chem I & II and learned a lot. TAKE HIM!!!
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! ABSOLUTELY LOVE HIM. his notes are the best, he is very willing to help, has very good explanation skills, and has a great sense of humor. his tests are a little on the hard side, but his lecture will prepare you well for them. absolutely amazing professor. would DEF recommend him. wish he taught EVERY science class at temple.
Prof. Price is a terrific guy. He breaks the information down for you in detail, unlike other profs. His exams are hard, but his class has the highest average on exams of all gen-chem classes. It would be a stupid idea to take someone else, thinking you will do better, because you won't learn as much as you will from price. He gives practice exams.
Really good teacher who takes the time to write out the notes unlike all the other teachers. Yes the exams are difficult and the average is about 75 on them, but its possible to get above avrage if you take diligent notes, listen to him, read the book, look over the study guides nd do the practice exam! If anything, come to him and he'll help you
Dr. Price is one of the best chem professors at Temple. He writes his notes out everyday and explains everything in detail! Though, his exams can be killer if you don't study and do the problems in the book because they are applied knowledge. I didn't do the problems in the book and I paid the price for it on my exams.DO EVERY PROBLEM IN THE BOOK!!
Very Smart, very hard, overall good guy with the occasional rude comment.
After sneaking into other professors' lectures to compare their teachings with Price's, it's obvious that Price is THE best Chem teacher. u learn so much from him in his lectures. However, his tests are EXTREMELY challenging so make sure you read the textbook and do cumulative problems a week before each of his exams. He wants u to earn the grade!
Great guy and a great professor, but his exams are unnecessarily difficult. You need to be willing to work really hard and dedicate a lot of time to this class to do well. If you're taking chem because it's required for your major but you have no interest in it, I'd recommend not taking him. If you do, I do recommend him- you'll learn a lot.
I found his class very easy. He gives good notes, so go to class and write down everything he writes. If you review your notes, do the homework, and do the practice tests you will do very well.
To get an A- or A :- 1) Understand each chapter 2) Do Home Work 3) Do the Problems selected by him in the study guides. 4) Do the practise exams he puts in the BB.
Dr. Price is one of the best professor at Temple hands down. This is a fact that he already knows and is not shy about stating this fact. He wants every student to be successful but it does require alot of work which most student aren't willing to invest. Read the book before lecture, do ALL the problems not just the ones assigned. Then do more.
Price is not just extremely knowledgeable about chemistry but an actually clear and enthusiastic educator as well. His class separates the men from the boys. Attend lectures and practice beyond the homework problems. Overall his class is worth it!
He is the best chemistry professor I ever had in Temple so far (I am sophomore now). He teaches clearly and is well organized. If you go visit him during his office hours, he will answer your question clearly. He is helpful, clear. His exam is bit harder, but he prepares you for Final exam very well. You should study some and will get A. Take him.
BEST chemistry teacher ever! His notes are VERY helpful he explains everything perfectly. His exams are somewhat difficult but if you pay attention in class and study good you'll be fine.
I love Price! Best Chem professor on campus. I am a senior and had Price for Chem 1&2. I decided to take again for Inorganic since its specialty. The class is difficult but he is more than happy to help and gives study guides that are very similar to actual exam. Would definitely recommend!
If you want a quality chemistry education take this man. He is by far the best general chemistry teacher on the campus. He really helps prepare you for his tests even though they can be tough since they really require you to think about the problem. I did the recommended problems he gave and more questions at the end of the chapter and did fine.
He is good teacher. Just attend his lectures and do study 12 hours like he says. Chemistry is a hard subject but the semester fly by so quickly you don't realize. Dr. Price is always there to help if needed, go to his office hours. There are 4 test and 1 final all are hard but he prepares you for them just study his lecture notes & practice exam.
Coming into Price's class I was really nervous. I heard his exams were harder than all of the other Gen Chem 1s, and although that may be true for some tests, he prepares you for them and is open to help you. Take advantage of his office hours. His class is not the class to "cram" for the night, or even two nights before the exam.
Dr. Price is the best Chemistry professor at Temple University. His lectures are very informing, and he is very helpful with his office hours. He loves students who come to him for help and he is very friendly and willing to help no matter what. If you have a question, he will have the answer. Dr. Price is very fair and his tests match his teaching
You have to study like a week in advance for his class and really dedicate yourself to put in the work. He does the problems by hand and actually knows how to teach. Do all the study guides and practice exams and do problems! Mastering Chem is important too so don't skip out on that. If you pay attention your good
If you do not want to struggle, do not take his class. He is a very strict professor, his tests are very difficult and you need to study at least 2 hours a day in order to do okay in his class. There are 5 exams and a final which is cumulative. If you want to pass go to his office hours a lot. He's a great professor but a really tough one too.
TAKE HIM! Of all the gen chem professors, Price actually knows his stuff and teaches it well. Everyone gets the same tests, so don't let people tell you he is harder. If you can, please TAKE HIM. If you do all of his study guide problems and pay attention in class, you will pass with flying colors! IF YOU LOVE YOURSELF TAKE HIM
Dr. Price is among the most respected faculty members at Temple University. Has amazing lectures and writes out own notes to prepare you for exams. Very flexible office hours and he is willing to help. You must put in the effort work for your grade. The exams are tough but chemistry is a difficult subject.
He is a great teacher but challenges you more than other profs. He doesnt include people who avg. under 60 in his curve so his curves are never the same as Childs or Smith. Prices sections will do better on the final but his exams are tough (study more than a day before). If u can learn by doing the textbook alone then take childs, smith, etc..
Do not take Dr. Price. He is a very good teacher but a very unfair grader. The other chemistry teachers at Temple curve your grade ridiculously, even if they aren't as good at teaching. Take Ramella, and just read the chapters and you'll be set. Very sad I took Dr. Price.
Price taught inorganic chemistry well (his specialty). He is a nice man, knowledgeable and approachable. In this class he graded very generously. For those considering him for gen chem, do it. You will learn more than with Ramella, etc. They curve heavily because they don't teach well. Take a good teacher, do your best, and the grade will follow.
Dr. Price is a very good chem professor but I always somewhat struggled in chem. He is a very tough grader and is strict. Basically whatever you get on your exams will be your final grade. He doesn't give you any options to improve your grade. He also doesn't curve at all compared to Ramella or other professors. If you can handle chem, take price.
Dr Price is a very clear cut professor and breaks topics down in a way everyone can understand. With this in mind, Price DEFINITELY underplays a lot of the topics he teaches in terms of importance, then it will be a driving force on the exam. Get ready to read, do the problems he assigns, and pray he's in a good mood when he writes his exams
BEST PROFESSOR IVE EVER HAD. Clear with what he expects & it very helpful and smart. I was nervous coming into this class b/c of other things I have read, but i know students with other teachers who do not learn as much as Price's students. If you want to get an A, do study 12 hours a week, come to lectures, practice problems & practice exams
Exams are nothing like other sections, they're are harder than exams that CLASS gives out, 32 multiple choices on 4 exams, have to really get the concepts in order to ace it. Practice is the key to everything. Funny prof. who writes his own notes and projects it as he explains.
Dr. Price is by far the best General Chemistry teacher. He gives clear lectures and his teaching style is second to none. He does not simply show you the information, but he does it with you to get a better understanding. I took him again for Gen Chem 2 because of how good he was and I would take him for every class if I could.
Dr. Price is an incredible professor. He's clear in his notes, and while his exams are a bit on the difficult side, they're still fair. As long as you really know and understand the material you shouldn't have a problem getting an A. I wish he taught organic chemistry, I would have taken him in a heartbeat.
I had a different prof for ChemI, and was completely lost the entire time. I decided to take Price for Chem2 and really regret not taking him before. Chemistry is a very difficult subject, and unless it comes naturally to you, you have to put in a lot of work for your grade regardless of the professor. Price is amazing and prepares you very well.
He is an amazing professor and I would absolutely recommend him to all students. I have never been good at chemistry but due to his extreme helpfulness I now have an A- in the course.
Everyone says chem 2 is the hardest chem compared to orgo and such. Taking Price made me feel as if chem 2 was easier than chem 1. He is SUCH a great professor and explains topics as well as concepts very well. I learned WHY things had to happen and why I was doing certain calculations. I didn't get an A but I learned it very well.
Best gen chem 1&2 professor in the chem department.
Best chem professor I have taken at Temple. Very helpful and clear in lecture. Very easy to understand because of his teaching style. Definitely take him if you truly want to learn in Chem. (only downfall is that there is NO CURVE!!!!)
Go to class and you might be okay. Exams are extremely tough, expect quizzes weekly from recitation. I decided to switch majors after taking this class, it made me realize that science was not for me. He is a reasonable professor, but just DON'T expect curves. A lot of other professors curve a lot, but Price does not.
One of the best chemistry professors there are at Temple, Straightforward about what is on exam, not to mention the great notes.
I had Ramella for Chem 1 and I did not understand the subject. Then I took Price for Chem 2, which is much more harder but worth it because I understood what was being taught. Don't the homework just to get it done, work them out and study them & go to class. It will help you prepare for the exam in advance instead of cramming for it.
I had Price for both chem 1 and 2, and he is by far the best chem professor at Temple. He is clear on what he wants and how to succeed in his class. However, his tests are very hard and he does not curve at all. If you are a pre-med/pharm student and need the A, I highly suggest taking a different teacher and sitting in on Price's lectures.
If you like learning material by studying handwritten notes that are neatly outlined by a professor during lecture, Price is the man for you. Crystal clear definitions & example problems. Know everything inside and out, study for recitation quizzes, and DO THE EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES and you will succeed. Great study guides for tests.
I took Ramella for Chem 1 & it was terrifying b/c I DID NOT learn anything & got a C+ with the curve. I'm so glad I took Price for Chem 2 because even w/o curve i got a C+. His exams are pretty hard, but he does give out extra credit for each exam so that's basically all the curve you will get! If you want a A, read the textbook b4 coming to class.
Price is full of knowledge and potential. He is very thorough in his explanations and his lectures are very interesting. Go to his office hours, he will help to his best. Tons of extra credit. His class has the highest average among all other professors.
Chem was difficult and it took a lot of work to get the grade that I did, but Dr. Price is awesome. He might seem intimidating at first, but if you go to his office hours he will help you with homework and learning concepts, and is really nice. I am a pre-med student and I learned so much as opposed to some of my friends who had other professors.
Everyone praises Price for being an amazing lecturer but I don't see why. HE'S NOT A BAD PROFESSOR but he's not that great. His exams are reasonable. His lectures are okay; if you don't study outside of class you definitely won't get an A. Always available for office hours. Incredibly messy handwriting. The textbook is almost useless in this course
i wish there was a 3.5 difficulty. He is very clear in his lectures. not too much HW and answrs r online. He rlly knows chem. go to class and review the notes and prac. tests He is concise and helpful. You have to really understand the material in the class to do well on the test. Make sure you THINK CRITICALLY on the tests. Its possible to get A.
Pretty easy class overall. The recitation quizzes are easy and his lectures are very clear cut. His study guides for his exams are clear cut and a great way to study. I stopped reading the textbook half way through the class. He gives extra credit on exams and at the end of the semester adjusts the grading criteria based on the class average
Dr. Price is a great lecturer. Very clear in his expectations and he offers great resources to prepare for exams. It's not an easy class. You should do your HW, practice exams, and review notes if you want to succeed. Extra credit is built into the exams but that's it. This semester an A started at 94.2 (i.e., a curve won't necessarily help you).
Very hard exams, no curves. quizzes can either be simple or difficult. If you don't study for 2 hours a day or more, you won't get a good grade. Make sure to do as many problems as you can, he will choose the hardest and put it on your exam. However he does drop 1 lowest exam, and his lectures are solid but that's about it.
his exams were terrible and his lectures were very boring to the point I almost slept in all of his lectures. The time he gives for the tests is very very short. Do not bother taking him because that will only ruin your GPA. You will end up studying by yourself anyways and make the right choice.
Dr. Price's students' exam scores generally have a higher average than the other lecturers' students'.
The test are hard and a bit too heavy for only 50 minutes, I would be rushing too much to finish which doesn't help even though I studied hard. The recitation quizzes where the same too many question (or work for questions) for 10 minutes (even though some classes TAs changed the quizzes apparently for certain students) Study and do homework!!
Price is British, so that already makes lectures less miserable. He is very educated and respected in the Chemistry department. He makes himself available for office hours. Exams are tough, but there is a class curve. Recitation quiz every week. Study and you'll be fine.
Price is a good teacher and would totally recommend taking for Gen Chem 1 and 2. He may come off a little hard, but if you put in the work and dedication, it will all pay off in the end. His tests are challenging, it totally prepares you for the final which is ten times easier.
Price is a great lecturer. His style of lectures are where he writes the notes along with you so it isn't fast-paced. His exams are a bit tough, but they are totally fine if you study using his practice tests and study guide.
As a lab instructor, he was very clear in the demonstrations and expectations for the experiments. Before each lab, there was a quiz based on the lab. Lab reports are all group and due two weeks after the experiment. There was a written final at the end but straightforward. Go to office hours because he helps a lot with the lab reports.
Pretty Good! I finished the class with an A- and plan on having him again for General chemistry II. In the beginning i was struggling only because I did not do exactly what he said. Basically to do well you must study 12 hours a week, analyze the textbook and do many problems. You can find problems in the textbook, the workbook and the online Hw.
My future is hella bright after taking Price's class, but his bald head is still brighter. Overall, great and respectable professor.
I absolutely loved my chemistry lectures last semester. They were my favorite class. Dr. Price makes the material really easy to understand and shows multiple examples of how to solve the math problems. He uses real world examples to make the more difficult materials easier to grasp. He throws in a few corny, but funny jokes too.
Dr. Price has a great personality and his teaching style is very clear-cut. His exams are on the difficult side, but the recitation quizzes are on the easy side. Make sure that you study from his exam study guides because they really help. He does not give extra credit to an individual student, but he will curve the tests by class.
Price is a good prof and his lectures are really good but just going to lecture, doing the HW, and using his study guides are not enough. you really have to read the book and do practice problems to do good in his class. he curves your overall grade based on the class average so if you're doing bad and everyones doing good you're kinda screwed
Great chemistry professor! Makes the content very accessible. I wouldn't recommend missing lectures because he covers a lot of content during class. ACTIVELY STUDY!!! I know that its annoying and I procrastinate, but it will make your life so much easier if you try to keep up with your studies and it will make the tests a lot easier.
I love him. best professor in the chemistry dept. 10/10 would take again
THE BEST CHEMISTRY INSTRUCTOR AT TEMPLE!
price is the BEST chem prof at temple. gives study guides and practice exams and is super clear about whats expected. do all the practice probs and ask if you dont understand and you will get an a. price knows his stuff and more importantly, knows how to teach.
He writes out notes on a document camera and posts them to Canvas later, which I really liked. Everything you need to know for exams is in the notes. I studied for exams by doing all the homework the night before and that worked for me. Except for the last exam, oxidation reduction was very hard. If you get a Tro textbook, 12th edition is fine.
To be completely honest, the amount of work that you have to put in in any gen chem class at Temple is exactly the same is you want to do well. The difference is that Price is stresses this fact while the other professors do not. It's for this reason Price's students tend to do better. I recommend doing well in another class with a bigger curve.
he's a such great professor, very patient, helpful and kind. but when you decide to take his course, be ready to struggle cause although he teaches well , his tests and final are hard.
Take him if you can. That is all
Taking chemistry came at the PRICE of my sanity. That is all
I was so nervous about taking gen chem at first since I didn't have much in HS but Dr Price taught it so well. He made it real intresting and was very helpful outside class. Great notes on Canvas, lot of hmk + tuff exams but if u work hard and follow his advice you'll get good grade. Never dreamed I'd get A- grade!
I liked Dr. Price's lectures. However, he gives simpler examples in class than what you'll see on hw and exams, making the course harder. His practice exams aren't very useful because his tests are usually much more challenging. He has great spirits and is funny, though. To do well, do the hw on time and use it to study more than his lectures.
Dr. Price was my favorite professor so far. He writes his notes as he teaches which I found very helpful. He always took the time to explain everything thoroughly. His exams are pretty easy if you go to class and take the time to study. There are a lot of homework assignments on Mindtap. He's honestly one of the best chemistry professors.
Dr. Price is a smart guy, but his lectures alone won't help all that much. Gen chem is a very independent course where a lot of the understanding is meant to come from your own personal studying and homework, so be prepared to dedicate a lot of time to chem per night/week. It's a tough class and there aren't many decent tutoring resources to help.
Price is a well-respected chemistry professor. Having him as my science professor for my first semester at Temple was a great choice. He has clear notes and explanations during lecture for Gen Chem 1. I highly recommend him if you get the option to have him as your professor. Mindtap was the only hard part because those challenge questions man...
Price teaches the class better than others, but in order to do well on his exams you will have to teach yourself in further depth. For a while I just tried studying my class notes and ended up pretty lost on some parts of the exams. You have to make sure you completely understand the concepts based on the book and outside sources.
Price is THE MAN!! 1000x better than Ramella, Stanley and Michael. You will struggle at first like I did but if u go to his office hrs he will help you. Makes u work for a good grade. Might be intimidating to some at first but really friendly guy once u get to know him. Definitely taking him for Gen Chem 2. Just wish he taught o-chem too.
Dr. Price is very funny during his lectures and is clearly the best prof for chemistry. His lecture notes are always posted online and he does tons of example problems after a topic. The class is really tough, but he's the best way to go.
Dr. Price was an awesome professor. This was the first year Temple used Cengage with Mindtap for homework, all of the homework was online. The Ebook and interactive homework lessons make it so that lecture isnt too necessary. However, his teaching style is fantastic and he moves at a good pace. He thoroughly explains things and uses diagrams too.
The class is hard in general but Price really does a great job with his lectures. His use of Cengage/Mind-Tap to give homework is great. It is really up to the student to go over all the material and ACTUALLY STUDY! Can't pass the same way you passed classes in highschool anymore. Very demanding!
Good professor just wasn't for me. You have to really apply yourself and you'll be fine. Lots of homework and make sure you go to his office hours for help. Exams are very hard. I don't like how the curve didn't last though
Dr Price has no time for slackers. If your not willing to work for a good grade take another Prof. Very fair grader. Not much of a curve but he doesn't have to do that as averages are high 70s - because he's such an incredible teacher and really helpful outside of class!!
Personally, I felt Dr. Price moved to quickly in lectures. However, I have been fine by just reading the textbook. He is also super helpful during office hours.
Not my cup of tea.
His exams are extremely hard. Dont take his class.
Dr. Price is one of the best professors I have ever had at Temple. I am a senior Kinesiology major who struggled with Chem and math in my 2nd year, withdrew from 1031 because I was failing (with another Prof). Taking chemistry with Dr. Price for both Gen Chem I and II has been a wonderful experience, and I am better than I ever thought I. Love him!
Let there be no mistake, Dr Price is the best Chemistry teacher in the department but also very hard. That being said, you're gonna have to put in a lot of work to earn a C or higher to pass. Dont depend on a curve for his class because he only curves if the total average is low (it was 82% for my class so no curve). Just study hard and keep up!
Dr. Price is an amazing professor and a great guy. If you have the chance to take him, I highly recommend! He explains everything very clearly and I have not understood chem as much as I did with him. If you have additional questions he addresses them very clearly and is extremely helpful. Take Dr. Price if you want to understand Chemistry!!!
If there was a Nobel prize for teaching Gen Chem, Dr Price would win it hands down! Crystal clear lectures and very helpful in office hours. Lots of hmk and exams were a bit tough but it's chemistry not a gen ed course! Highly recommend taking him for gen chem 1 and 2.
Great teacher. Makes jokes in class and is an overall king. Moves quickly in lecture, so you need to pay attention and take good notes. Quizzes in resititation every week but I think that's pretty standard across all chem teachers. Also gives extra credit every now and then that you solve at home. If you study and put in time you will easily pass.
Price is a chemistry god and unexpectedly funny, his British accent enhances all his jokes, is an absolute unit of a man and I love him, bald head shines light on my future. Stay on top of hw and textbook readings and you'll be fine. I had never taken chemistry before and managed a B+. Does plenty of examples in class to help you grasp concepts.
Dr. Price really shines in his inorganic lectures. You can tell that he really knows everything, and is super approachable in office hours for any concerns you may have about the material. Exams are a bit "interesting," but nothing crazy beyond the book problems. Highly highly recommend for Inorganic Chem if he teaches it.
Amazing teacher, amazing lectures. He makes gen chem so fascinating and prepares you well if you dont skip. Go to every class, take notes, and you will get an A. He has easier exams than other profs for gen chem 2 i would say.
Dr. Price is probably the hardest but best Gen Chem teacher. I didn't have him for Chem1 and the concepts were a lot harder for me to understand, but Dr. Price is a really good lecturer. If you read the chapter before and then go to lecture to have him explain it, it's really helpful. He is really willing to help accommodate.
If you are ready to be challenged and want to really understand all the chemistry you need to know before taking o-chem and bio 2112, then you MUST take Dr. Price for Gen Chem! Amazingly clear lectures in-person and online, lots of hmk, tough exams but very fair grader. Incredibly helpful and a super nice guy. Best science professor I've ever had!
Dr. Price is truly one of the best chemistry professors out there. His lectures are concise and provide all the detail you need for an exam. He's British accent definitely provides flair to his lectures as the content can often become dry. He's accessible if you need him and he go out of his way to help you.
Coming from someone who is awful at chemistry and needed it for my DPT, Price made me understand chem. Go to class, pay attention, and stay up to date with MindTap. Go to any review sessions he has and ask for help if you are stuck. The man knows what he is doing
Dr. Price is my chem inspirator. I had some issues with the TA; he was not grading me fairly; however, I went to Dr. Price, he was so caring and understanding, and he regraded my quizzes in a far fairway. Dont hesitate to attend office hours, dont skip classes, and dont leave the homework until the last minute, and youll get the grade u want.
He is very helpful, friendly, and kind.
He is the GOAT of the chemistry department professor. It makes me so sad to say goodbye to him. He always tries his best to help the student to succeed in the course and so passionate to teach us. There is no way to hate him.
I did horribly this semester of my own fault. Not once did Professor Price chastise me, berate me, talk down to me, or refuse me help. Up until the very end he made sure I had all the resources and access I needed. Unfortunately, I fell behind (again, my own fault) but I will be taking this class again. So thankful to Prof Price and the chem dept.
This class was completely asynchronous and for the first half of the semester I fell REALLY behind. Dr. Price had office hours on MWF where he would go through our quiz attempts for each module and tell us which problems we got wrong as well as walk through similar examples. He never condescended students who fell behind and cared about our success
