Great teacher! I have a hard time with computers & certainly never thought I'd be writing computer programs(I had to fulfill a requirement). Andy made it fun and easy to understand. One of my best classes!

Nice guy, good teacher, lets you ask questions when you are totally confused on stuff. Let me reschedule taking 2 of his exams, just overall nice guy. Class isn't HARD persay, its just different if you are not a CS person, but Andy is very helpful. I would recommend him to anyone. =)

I dont get how anybody could not love this class. Romanyshyns awesome. i learned a ton from his class and his lectures were easy to follow.

He's totally a good instructor. You can get an A in his class even if you mess up a little bit, just make sure that when you hand in the programs you make, they work. There, you have an A. He'll help you if you have a problem, and he gives the class credit for an exam questions if most everybody missed it. Unless the answer was just OBVIOUS.

As an adult student, this was a great lead-in class back to school. Mr. Romanyshyn was a great encourager and was patient with us who were less than computer literate!

The quizzes and tests are easy. The Lab portion really does help when completing the lab sets in textbook. Although, at times we would take tests and quizzes on the same day depending on how they fell on calendar. That needs revision. Not fair to have a test and quiz on the same day.

I knew the basics of word and excel going in to the class but I had little to no experience with power point, Access and publisher. It was a good class to take to make sure I have everything covered. I feel ready to pursue a variety of jobs that involve working with computers.

I have no complaints about the class. It was very well structured. The due dates were clear, the instructions were clear, the lessons were easy to follow. I wish every college class was like this.

Good Class

A very helpful class in learning the Microsoft Office programs. Definitely a class to stay current on homework-- easy to get overwhelmed if you fall too far behind. Important to be in class and use the lab time efficiently! Great and very helpful instructor!

This is the best hands on classes I have taken so far at WCC. If you actually do the reading before coming to class than the lab portion of this class is fairly easy. Andy is very patient and is great at explaining things so you can understand. Like any teacher if you do good work you will earn a good grade. Great teacher.

A great proffessor overall

Really a great instructor! The whole class had a great time. Andy was always ready to help, if the computers went belly up ( and they did regularly) he was understanding and extended deadlines and made sure IT knew what was going on.

I took CS101 from Andy and I have to say, wow! I thought that maybe I would like to have a career in the Computer Science field but was't too sure about it. But after taking this class, it is definitely a contender to be a future job. Andy was helpful and easy going. He helped me out with any question I had and was overall a great teacher.

I think Andy was a very good teacher. He is very helpful when you need it and is clear on everything he teaches us.

Amazing teacher

He really explained things well and made the subject matter interesting while also educational. There were times when I had trouble with some parts or would forget things, but I didn't feel upset about it at all and the workload was at just the right level I think, where I was learning at a good pace and not getting completely overwhelmed.

Really good teacher. I would recommend to others who want to take this class! Has interesting lectures and does it well.

Andy is a really nice teacher and very clear. The class is difficult but if you study hard you can get an A. He really works with students and is open to any questions you might have. I'd recommend Andy as a teacher to anyone, but don't take his class if you're not planning on learning a lot and working hard.

Good Information

Good class and teacher

I was new to most of the entire class list of topics. For a 3 credit class there seemed to be a lot of assignments and tests. Not much time to get to know the information to do well enough on the multi choice tests. The hands on part sometimes seemed to go a bit smoother.

Andy is a great teacher. He is very clear, and he is always willing to work with students if they need help or extra time for an assignment. BIS 101 is an easy class as long as you show up and do the homework. There is a good deal of homework, but if you show up to class and ask questions it's an easy class to get an A in.

This was a really helpful class! I didn't know anything about the majority of the things we covered so it's nice to know how to use things and easy keyboard shortcuts! Your review lectures also really helped me understand the material better, so the kids that ditched missed out! Have a nice summer :)

Gives plenty of lab time to work on assignments. I would have liked it if he did more in class demos rather than all lecture for the first hour or so. Other than that he was a great instructor!

The teacher was so good at, well, teaching, that the class felt fun and easy but at the same time like we were learning a lot! I felt really smart in a way that I haven't for a long time, and I think a great teacher is one who can inspire that in his or her students.

This class was definitly a challenge for me as I had never done html before, but the instructor was more than helpful, and actually made it as fun as this subject can be, in my opinion. Expect to work hard, but you will learn alot by taking this class. Good instructor & great personality. Thanks Andy! :)

Andy is an awesome teacher, very helpful and understanding. This particular class was very easy for me since it was just an introduction to microsoft office, stuff I've been doing for years, but Andy was always willing to explain everything through and make sure everyone understood what needed to be done and how to do it. Andy really helped me out a lot in this class. He's mentions all the time that you can bug him to ask a question or if you need help with something. you really need to do the homework if you want to pass because of the nature of HTML and CSS.

A very helpful instructor. Really responsive to emails and questions, and gives you plenty of opportunity to do well in the class. I would definitely recommend him if you need to take any BIS classes.

Romanyshyn was a very good teacher. He explained the material in a way that made sense to students with all levels of prior knowledge. He was kind, helpful, funny, sincere, and very understanding. The class was not difficult. I found myself using the skills I learned for work in my other classes. He talks so fast, though, that my ears get tired.

While I got sleepy during the lecture portion of class, the details explained did wonders for any sort of hiccups I was having with the lesson. I'm glad I got the chance to learn the latest version of Works with a teacher that's straight-forward about the assignments and expectations. Stay on top of the assignments and you'll be fine in class.

Really chilled vibe, attendance was not compulsory as most of the quizzes and homework was online - however he did have pop quizzes every now and then that sometimes related to a subject he mentioned in class. I missed a lot of the classes and still managed to get an A in the class. Nice guy too, extended a quiz for me when I was sick!

I came into this course with a fair amount of background knowledge of the subject, so it was fairly easy for me. That being said, I definitely learned more than I expected I would. Professor Romanyshyn is an excellent lecturer and gives good feedback on assignments. CIS100 is a great intro to the field of computer science given by a great teacher.

Honestly, Andy is a super friendly guy that really loves computers. I learned a lot coming into his class with just a few basic terminology of computers. Class isn't so bad. Lab days were my favorite because I was able to get all my homework done and do other homework if I decided to stay. It's an easy class if you skim the textbook. I recommend!

Andy is a great Professor. His lectures were always done with a powerpoint and would give you the material you needed to know for your assignments. There was no grade for attendance so if you felt confident in the material you weren't required to come to class which was nice for me and i believe he cares about his students success

I like the fact that attendance isn't mandatory. The book was very up to date which I loved. Huge bonus. Fun challenging labs. I think this class would be a little hard for a complete beginner but I have a little computer knowledge, though outdated, and I still found it challenging and learned allot. Its a great class for novice to intermediate

Lot's of quizzes and exams as well as assignments., But not over the top hard, as long as you read the material you'll do just fine. The professor answers questions right away and explains everything very clearly!

Mr. Romanyshyn is a wonderful teacher. The work is super easy, if you fail this class it is your own fault. He explained everything clearly, allowed time for questions, and answered every question without a problem. I love the fact that he allowed you to stay after class to complete assignments. I absolutely loved this class!!

Andy is one of the coolest professors I've had so far. His class isn't very difficult. All you have to do is check canvas somewhat regularly for updates on assignments and put in some effort. Don't cheat or you're done. I barely opened my book, because his lectures are excellent. Plus slides are available on canvas. Very clear expectations.

Very helpful teacher especially with students who don't have a clue about computers and English is their second language. It was really clear about grading. Gave us reminders about due dates. Really helpful with answering questions, explaining the lessons and helping one on one. Made the class easy and fun.

Andy is just an all around awesome guy, I took two courses from him this quarter and had a great time, he was flexible with scheduling and easy to listen to.

Andy is great! Lectures are short to average but not boring. He is clear in his presentation and grading. During work time he is very accessible and helps you figure out the answer. He is very patient and kind. He has a great sense of humor as well and creates an enjoyable classroom experience. Though a bit slow to grade assignments.

He new is material very well and also gave students the opportunity to ask questions, give input on the topic, or even share their experiences with the topic! The lectures, textbook readings and quizzes were a bit tough at times, but they really get you prepared for the exams, so that was very helpful. I enjoyed this class and working with Andy!

I really enjoyed his lecture style and use of humor. The stress level in class was minimal. I feel I gained a fairly good grasp of Microsoft Office Suit, something that was mystery before I took the class.

You lecture for 4 of the 5 class days and the other day is used for Lab time. This is where you produce a working program that runs once finished. The visual basic book is a must have in this class because you work directly from it. The other book is not as important but he doe's test from it too. He wants you to succeed in his class.

As long as you keep up with assignments, you'll be completely fine. Pretty easy class, access is challenging so make sure you get ahead of the game early in the quarter.

Great teacher, would take again. The only thing I didnt like is sometimes hed talk too fast or answer questions really fast, but theres a lot of immaterial to go over in the lectures so its understandable.

Only early morning class I've ever looked forward to. I learned so much valuable knowledge and had fun along the way. All computer work so get ready for that. I'm so glad I had this prof. He is awesome, helpful, and very kind. Be ready to listen to short and sweet lectures, take notes, and you'll breeze through the online work.

Andrew creates a productive learning environment encouraging students success. His teaching methods are organized and approachable. The class engaged in Mindtap virtual computer system labs and his technical support was readily available. I would highly recommend attending any of Andy's classes. The course content is challenging and rewarding.

The prof. was very quick about responding to messages and was lenient when the online code grader didn't accurately grade assignments. The prof. also posted a lot of useful videos and instructions on some of the more confusing aspects of the online lessons/assignments.

Good class but a project outside of cengage would add a lot I think.

Andy's class was great. I definitely learned a lot and it was a great introduction to the subject. Andy has a great attitude where you're getting hit with a lot of information but it doesn't feel stressful or unmanageable.

While there was a lot of reading to do (which is just the nature of CIS105), the teacher was friendly and helpful and gave good information in the lectures. Lectures were a little fast paced sometime, but again that's just the nature of CIS105...lots of information you need to learn. Good teacher and all in all I enjoyed his class!

Andrew was great all quarter and the assignments/material were easy to access. The course itself requires close attention and effort if you want to ace it but he does a great job answering questions and providing feedback.

Mid-term was harder than the final! Flash cards are very helpful, and a very comprehensive note sheet (front and back) are allowed for exams which in my opinion is MANDATORY. I didn't go to many lectures, but they were available on canvas to see, I think getting an A in this class is totally possible.

Just stay on top of work, and it should be fine, but if you need extensions, the teacher will give them as long as you give ample heads-up notice. Flash cards are also a smart idea for this class.

Andy was a very good Computer Science teacher. On the Quizzes on Cengage I got a 80% or more. My overall grade was not the best. Whenever I needed help with an assignment loading, he would help me out. If I didn't understand a question he would help me out. I will not be moving on to 106. Andy was a very helpful professor.

Clear instructions, offers help when asked. Not too difficult of a class if you're already familiar with computers, I highly suggest obtaining the CS101 Cengage textbook from a different source and quickly finishing all the Cengage assignments while you have temporary free access to save money.

Good balance of lab/practical work and didactic/lecture material. Coming to the in-person lab portion of the class (hybrid arrangement) was very helpful especially if you do not have a computer capable of running virtual basic. Professor was very accommodating of student schedules and needs. If you have some conflict, just talk with him!
