Very easy professor who teaches math 120. Gives open book exams and drops 2 lowest grades. Gave me an A. I was his student in Spring 2004. Im not a math person, but thanks to him I passed his EASY class. Does the hw for u the next day on the board, & never checks them (HW)> TAKE HIM u wont regred.

I recommend taking Professor Russell, especially if you are having problems understanding the math like I did before I started his class. He gives great examples and is very helpful. He'll go over a problem with you if you do not understand it and he'll explain every detail. That is how I passed. Take him, he is great!

He is a very good teacher to have. I strongley recommend him, if you wanna get flying marks in your transcript.you can bother him much as you want with any math problem, he will never let u down. he will do his best to get the answer for you.

Awesome teacher, didn't realize how good he was until I took a review class for the final and the professor teaching it was so confusing. Professor Russell can explain complicated ideas in simple ways and I learned so much in one semester of his class than my other previous math classes combined. Highly recommended, great teaching style!

He's one of the best math professors ever in the school! He revises and looks over at previous hws and he also explains the most complicated topics into the most practical way...He's extremely helpful and he can help you whenever you have trouble! I recommend taking him for MA-321!!

He is good, you will understand the class. If you do not understand an excersice he will explain it again. If you take his class i suggest ask him he is very helpful.

Reminds me of Austin Powers, totally funny in weird kind've way & he's such an excellent that his class kind of feels like Math Class for Dummies lol he breaks everything down to the science! What they say about his tests is true, if u dont pass his class u just didnt try!

BEST math professor. He is EXTREMLY organized with the notes that he gives. He follows along with the text but breaks it down for ANY ONE to understand. Very easy going cool personality. He managed the time well. If you do not pass his class then it's definitely not him it's you.

The hardest A I had to work for but I am waiting for him to teach Calculus next term so that I can take him again. Highly organized and by the time you near the end of your term, your concepts will be as clear as crystal. A gem of a person. Had an in-class exam, two take home exams and a departmental final. His reviews helped me earn my A.

He is a very easy guy, gave us three take home test and one in class. He dropped the lowest grade, he tries to make the class funny. However, he is a really cool, down to earth, helpful and clear. finals are set by the departmet, therefore goes to the review sesions and you will passed. All the best. Amazing Professor i must say. all you seriously need to do is come to class. i seriously didn't learn nothing & yet passed the final with an 85 just by reviewing the review sheet. he is so generous with his grades. gives you a higher grade then expected. :) just laugh at his jokes and come to class. trust me you'll be thankful for him.!

this guy is beyond amazing. i honest wished that he would be teaching 119 , 121, and pre cal because i would take his class over in a heart beat. his lessons are clear he gives notes on the lessons step by step and over all hes just a great help. idk about any of the other qcc math teachers but he is THE BEST TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT TO LEAVE MA 10 !

i was lucky to have him as a professor im terrible at math and i passed, i recommend him for any math class he teaches. hes a very nice guy and helpful pay attention and yull be fine. however you still have to do h.w thats how math is.

Best professor ever. The test questions are identical to the review sheet. He goes out of his way to help you. It's a fun class. If you know how to type and click you're good. The lectures are boring but you don't need them. He's a really sweet and funny guy.

Tests are based straight from the studyguides. Practically the same. Gave 2 tests and 2 take home tests. Drops the lowest grade. Extremely disappointed in the grade I got for this class. Being a straight A student, this was my first B+. It honestly broke my heart. You will have to work for you grade, its not an easy A.

Professor Russell really knows how to make complicated material easy to understand. Don't be afraid to ask questions, he will happily answer all of them. His sense of humor however is a lil weird tho, but don't get offended by his sarcasm,its just the way he holds it down. His test are more than fair and if you do your part, you will get that A.

Enjoyed taking his class, would take him again for higher level math. He is very clear when teaching and wont hesitate to help his students.

Take him. If you fail his class the problem is YOU! He tells a lot of jokes, but his teaching skills are awesome. I am bad in math, but I was never late on my homeworks. Which if you don't do, you'll fail because lack of repetition. His tests are take home exams, which he calls a party. His final's in class, so do your take home exam yourself!

By far the best professor I ever had, he is the first professor who gave me all the tools I needed to get an A. If you don't get an A in his class you are just not trying. Do all the homework and the extra credit, there is no way you won't get an A. I truly learned a lot from this professor.

I really enjoyed his class. It's obvious he enjoys the subject and explained the material well. He's more than willing to spend the time to answer questions during class but not so much outside of class. Attendance is a must as well as the homework he's fair if you do the work. If not your out of luck. Would recommend and take again.

Great Professor, very knowledgable. Helpful, willing to explain in detail, funny. Do all the Homework assigned and it should be easy especially if you're not a fan of math.

This Class was really an easy A, the html projects &the visual basic are easy just follow the book and you're good. All test were take home except the final but for he gave us the same question that would be on the final just in different order ! Just make sure you always bring the visual basic book. Definitely take him you won't regret it !

I personally didn't find him funny at all, but he's ALRIGHT. His lectures are pretty clear, you can get a good grade as long as you're there and do your homework, oh and of course study and do well in your exams. I didn't get the grade I expected, but that was my fault entirely. Would recommend !

He is from Columbia University, and is an excellent teacher. He can be sarcastic at times but other than that it was an easy class. His review sheets are the same as the test. He assigns hw and checks them. He is a funny guy, take him for an easy A.

Prof Russell is the best. He gives extra credit work to boost every exam grade. Do your homework, go to class everyday, pass the exams and pass the final, easy A. I'm not a fan of math but he made everything easy to understand. Take him!

He isn't easy, he's just "fair." Took him for a summer class, he gave 3 take home exams. 2 were easy but the last one he really challenged us. He teaches the easy stuff in class and assigns the hard stuff on homework and tests. He teaches extremely fast so if you can't keep up with him don't take him because he doesn't take anyones bs.

Harsh grader. He took a point off my test for not adding a plus sign while factoring but I wrote it in the final answer. He doesn't care he wants all work A-Z. He teachers really fast but will go over something if you don't understand it. He isn't hilarious at all, he seems like he has an attitude sometimes.

He's an amazing man, he cares about his students a lot but his lectures and heavy and so are his tests. Math is a tough subject overall but he makes everything easy and is an easy A, you obviously have to do your work and take him seriously in order to get a good grade. Highly recommend him

Andrew Russell is type of professor I would highly recommended to any students. I took this course in Summer 2016, and it was like easy because his exam was take home and also there was in class final. I would also recommend this professor because math is not my favorite. By give take home exams, i can able to remember material was presented

Thank you Andrew Russell for helping me pass calculus at last! I am so happy I chose this professor, he was amazing. He gave one in class test and two take home tests, plus the final. He has a rather off-beat sense of humor but most of the class (myself included) found him really funny and nice. He also gives extra credit! Choose him!

Ive taken MA119 3 times with other professors in QCC and he is the BEST. He is very understandable and actually shows you the CORRECT way to do the problems without making it complicated. He is funny as well. He reminds me of someone who should be on the Big Bang Theory. So quirky haha. TAKE HIM!!

Took MA119 with him summer 2018; very nice and super funny prof.! Belongs in the Big Bang Theory bc he quirky lol! He let us take all of our exams home for A WEEK!! Assigned a lot of online hw (but its the summer so...). Knows his algebra and explains it so clearly. Really cares about his students, highly recommend!!! :)

He is a great Maths Professor, he makes it very easy to pass his course, however you gotta do your part. Ongoing practice both at home and in class from his unique strategy . Prof. Russell is an amazing math teacher. All of the exams are take home and he even gives you 80 points in extra credit on top of the test grades! Just do the Math XL hw and you'll be fine. He really goes over the material if you don't understand. He's a absolute blessing of a professor to take. Don't let that intimidate you, have to work for it.

Professor Russell is the best math professor at qcc and its not even close. Loves math and is extremely fair. Took him over winter break very reasonable man and gives you the opportunity to pass his class even if you're a bad test taker.

Professor Russel is the best. He gave take home exams. The final is very easy he literally gave the review sheet before the final and he just going to change the numbers everything stays the same format but, the Attendance is mandatory as well as homework. He is great, he understands every student, what they are trying to say.

Professor Russel is very nice and amazing. He makes it very easy to understand calculus. All of the exams are take home, you have almost a week to complete your exams. If you want to get a high grade in his class, attendance is mandatory, also you have to do all the homework. For final, review your hw & exams, then you'll be fine.

Prof. Russell is the real legend. I had him for Statistics this semester. He is very lenient in grading labs and writing assignments and you always have an option to redo it for higher grade. He uses Alex web for homework that ready is time saving and helps you get the full credits for homework part and this well prepare you for exam. An easy A.

The Aleks assignment platform was just too much. It was a lot of assignments and Aleks made it difficult to move pass one topic. He takes his writing assignments serious and he will give yo an INC without thinking twice if you miss any. Overall, he made Statistics a living hell for me.

I had professor A, Russell for MA119 and MA336, both were online. Aleks required and it wasn't crazy expensive like other reviewers saying. Tests and HW's were on Aleks. I really like the Aleks website because on test we had multiple attempts and for the HW's as well. It has very well explained problems with examples. With little effort easy A.

Online only. Challenging, fun class, used ALEKS software which can be difficult at times. Lecture is clear. If you are using the ALEKS software pace yourself and dont fall behind. Professor Russell is extremely clear about work with no surprises.

He's a great professor I had him for fall 2024. He had us do open math for our hw and it was great to have extended time till the end of the semster so that it wasn't so much stress. The only reason I got that grade is because I am not good at that type of math but I had to take the class! But definately take him, he's funny and is intertaing!

I took this class in the winter, and with things being dreary enough I really did appreciate his humor in lightening the tone. He was extremely clear on what we needed to do and it felt like he did everything in his power to help us, deadline extension, extra credit. Definitely gonna say 'Russel factor' whenever I have to factor again.

took him online in 2022. there was an astronomical amount of homework's but it was all due in the last day of the semester. Also had to purchase ales for over 100 dollars

Other reviews are true - You need to spend about $100+ on ALEKS in order to participate fully in the course, as that is where all the graded work is. Exercise self-discipline on homework assignments - do NOT leave your homework (and objectives) until the end of the semester. Nonetheless, he's funny during lectures. Not my cup of tea, though.
