Only covers the basics in class, and makes a lot of arithmetic mistakes. Questions given in HW & exams are far more conceptual and complicated. Doesn't even follow the guideline sometimes on what to expect for weekly quizzes. However, he does allow us to bring in a cheat sheet for exams, and gives out extra credit problems.
Lectures are interesting, he is funny, explains material well, and is always open to questions. You may skip a few classes, but he gives a pop quiz almost every time. There are a lot of assignments, but if you understand the material you'll be fine. Also, some quizzes/assignments are dropped so you if bomb a few you'll still pass the class.
Prof Sanfratello is great! His class policies make it very easy to learn well. He lets you use a cheat sheet for the midterms. Homework is standard, and so are the exams. He quite funny, but sometimes makes arithmetic mistakes that can be really annoying.
The course is easy, and I don't listen to him at class. His exams are really basic and not difficult.
Professor Sanfratello is the new professor here and he is very hilarious. We can get a full mark in quizzes as long as we read the book ( the quizzes are pretty short! 3-4 questions per quiz). He is always there to help me and encourage me to learn discrete math. Listen carefully and you will get great grades! Choose him and you won't regret : )
Sanfrantello is a very solid professor. He is a bit funny and helps you learn. Issue is, since he is new and the homework is from NYU the stuff you learn in class does not always relate to the HW. The problem sets are a lot of work. However the exams are fair but require a ton of self study to do well on the proofs part.
Every single class theres a pop quiz. Every week you have to do a polished proof and code it into Latex. Every other week you have to do 10 problem sets with multiple parts. He rushes for over content for the quizzes that don't matter and makes the dumbest jokes. Overall not the greatest and annoying.
Quite literally the worst course I have ever taken. The lectures drag on eternally, the content is either excruciatingly boring and useless or needlessly complicated. This is a required class, and it seems like Prof Sanfratello is either unaware of that, or is completely insensitive to it. I wish I could rate it a 0.
To be honest, his class is relaxed and fun. He is very inspirational! For the group project, if you put your heart into it, you will get a pretty good score. He is a real GEM.
He is a normal professor but sometimes can't explain deeper concepts clearly to students. Normal exams but quizzes are hard.
He doesn't understand half of the really complicated topics and his lecture notes are a mess. Towards the end of the semester, the proofs he teaches in class become logically incoherent. I compared his content with a different professor's, let's just say the latter made a lot more sense. His exams are easier though, and plenty of office hours.
He is a decent choice I would say. I didn't have any complaints and thus he deserves 4/5. Unlike other professors his classes are bearable to watch so I will give him to that. Class work is normal, not crazy. Exams are fair but the quizzes are hard.
For his linear algebra, very heavy workload. You're expected to read the textbook word by word, and homework amount is insane. I had him for online class, the midterm and final exam are terribly difficult compared to the in-person person. Try to avoid his online class. Tough grading for ONLINE linear algebra.
Isn't great at giving lectures, slides are poor, make sure to take good notes. Definitions/theorems are significant portions of exams, make sure to memorize important ones. Familiarize yourself with proofs and know the general format. Make sure you understand HWs for exams. Quizzes often, but usually on the lecture he just gave. Exam averages: 65s
His lecture makes no sense since he only teaches matrix calculation omitting the meaning behind it therefore his math class looks that a remembering class. I am not sure if he really understands linear algebra himself or just too lazy to teach in detail.
Does he understand the knowledge himself?
Sometimes it feels as if the professor of the class has made himself the king of zoom just because he has online exams and proctors them. Unsure whether the professor is proficient in his own material because we are often referred to high school algebra for help. Would not recommend, especially online.
exam 1 was based off of topics that were not taught in the class yet, he graded the tests even though he knew that the exam questions were wrong. overall not very accommodating. lecture slides are ok, he gives them to you filled out. quizzes are pretty easy. TA's have argued over correct answers with him. if you can take someone else please do.
Homework is easy and the quizzes are a little tricky, but the exams are a false mirage of being "easy." You think you studied enough for the exam, but it humbles you. Recitation leaders are more helpful than him. Sanfratello is good person, but not the best at lecturing. Unless you live, breathe, sleep matrices, I would find a different professor.
Pretty chill guy to learn LA from. Pay attention in class and it is an easy time.
bagayalu
Incredibly amazing, except that he is one of the worst I have seen in NYU. Choose him!
The course is OK. The professor is OK. He can explain basic concepts of Linear Algebra. However, Time for test is absolutely not enough, and he do not know how to accommodate student who take this course online. Students wasted 10 min because of him and he did not give extra time to compensate. Number is his HW and quiz is disaster.
I don't know why there are so many negative reviews...give this man some credit!! Speaking from someone who has ALWAYS struggled with math, this class is relatively clear and well-organized. Linear alg isn't very hard and there are TONS of resources online, so u can't blame him if u r not doing well. He is a humorous guy who cares about the topic.
Absolute legend, he is hilarious and really smart. His lectures are clear, hws are easy, but exams are a bit hard. Make sure to do a lot of practice and go to his office hours. Overall, an absolute star!!!
Professor Sanfratello doesn't deserve the amount of criticism that the reviewers are giving. He explains concepts clearly. The concepts can be challenging to grasp at first. Some HWs can take a while. The exams can be a bit of a time crunch, but they aren't that hard.
Please for the love of God ignore the students giving him 5/5. Imagine paying 80K a year at school only to get a teacher that cannot properly teach the concepts. He constantly glosses over the basic, important steps to understand the work. You either have to be math genius or you already know Calc
He seems to really care and his lectures are engaging. However the problem is that he glosses over so many things in class assuming you already know everything. His example problems have giant leaps in the process for the answer which make using them to study useless. HW and exams will only vaguely if at all resemble what he does in lecture.
Engaging lectures (mostly) explained well. I feel like he lectures based on his old notes so he doesn't remember all the things he's lecturing about (so might not answer questions well). He glosses over some concepts he thinks are "basic" or doesn't cover more examples in class but the homework are good indicators of what to see on tests/quizzes.
Does not give enough time for exams, even with letting us make a reference sheet to use. Quizzes tended to rely on tricks/manipulations rather than actual computations or applications. He did teach things very straightforward (nice), but in the process omitted the concepts and connections needed to understand the overall concept, and skipped steps.
Just avoid him. Very nice guy, but does not care about you in the slightest. Lectures are irrelevant and goes on a tangent. If you want to learn your better off learning calculus through YouTube. If you're praying for NYU just avoid him since the payment is better off going to a YouTube channel or a tutor since you will need that.
When I have a better understanding of "passive aggressive"
Give two quizzes with in one week (one of them is pop-up), and there's still quiz right after midterm. His grading rubric of polished proof is basically asking you to publish another textbook
I HATE him PERIOD. I wasn't able to access the webassign. Even though i texted bunch of cengage people and they say its the prof problem and our "respected" professor sanfratello respond is: You have to figure it by yourself...thank god I drop his class and you know what, i got placed into cal 3. GOODBYE DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU HAVE OTHER OPTIONS!!
Do not take! Forced to self study and basically teach the material to myself. I have taken this class in high school and yet he still makes it confusing. Passive aggressive, unresponsive, and does not care. Stay away if you can.
Makes ZERO exceptions, lectures fail to explain the simplest of concepts, quizzes are online with a 20-minute time limit, and requires you to do your HW using LaTeX software, which he never explains how to use in class. Went to his office hours, but he was standoffish and didn't seem to care. One of the worst professors in the NYU Math department.
Lecture materials were taught well, but exams and quizzes were extraordinarily more difficult that the materials taught in class to the point where students were not taught more difficult concepts that showed up on exams/quizzes. Allowed a cheat sheet, but not enough time on exams. Overall professor was rude and dismissive when asked questions.
His teaching style is divisive, you either understand him or you don't. And if you don't you are on your own. The exams were wayy to hard for a pre-calc class with the averages being around 50-59%, he does curve at the end of the semester but really plays with your confidence and those scores reinforced my hatred of math.
He is frankly an insecure control freak that doesn't allow you to do anything besides his way. He requires people to work on the HW PDF. Doesn't sound bad until you get points off for writing your HW answers clearly on lined paper with work shown. When you email him you have to email him in a specific yet tedious format or he won't respond.Insecure
Atrocious exams, no one had enough time for the test. Skips a lot details in lecture that helps make the content intuitive.
First Exam was really easy, second exam he made impossible without any forewarning
Second exam was so much harder than the first exam. The numbers were not easy to work with and the exam was super long.
Extremely hard exam
Just avoid him. Jesus. He does explain the concept; however, he assumed that all the concepts you learned just suppoed to provide you a base. And he is asking you to build a landmark on it by yourself. All tough problems you saw are easiest problems for him. No wonder why exams are hard. You will find Q1 a)is easy, and b),c),d)you'll have no ideas.
Messed up professor teaching a messed up course.
He is underrated. He's not that good but definitely not as horrible as some reviews said. Quizzes are hard. Drops lowest 2 quizzes and 1 HW. Exam 1 is easy while Exam 2 are a bit harder (but he took one question off and gave everyone 4 extra pts). He did kinda read off his notes and poor explaining, but nothing is impossibly hard in this class
I had Sanfrat for discrete math (&took Linear Algebra with another prof) & Ithe ratings on here miss the point. Discrete Math &Linear Alg ARE HARD COURSES with all profs. Professor Sanfratello was very accesssible during in person & online office hours and his lectures overall were clear. The exams and homework were hard but standard for Courant.
First rating ever. Was compelled to rate because this is the worst teacher I have ever had. Have taken calc 3, ODE, data analysis, discrete, never struggled until this. Lectures and gives very few examples. Examples do not cover what is on the tests or the homework. Questions are so obscure that you can't even find them on the internet.
Horrendous homeworks, quizzes, and tests. Made an error on the second exam and caused everyone to waste a ton of time. I swear he doesn't proof his homeworks and tests or even take them before he releases them. Some homework problems are made to be absurdly long for absolutely no reason but for random algebra irrelevant to the topic. Don't take.
Strange (in a bad way) - smiling and chuckling when students are struggling on exam, giving hw problems that are unnecessarily hard. Messed up a problem on our midterm, typo made the problem impossible, took majority of most people's time. Examples in class DO NOT cover the hw or test problems. Be ready to self-teach.
Please don't listen to other reviewers who say that this professor isn't that bad. I listened and regret it deeply. He reminds of my 7th grade pre algebra teacher in the way he teaches. His style of teaching wouldn't be awful for elementary classes, but when you delve into linear algebra, a complex and intricate subject, he frankly fails to teach.
Like he wants students to fail. Doesn't teach everything that is on the worksheets but also provides no answer keys - lots of self-teaching and scouring the internet to find teaching material and verify answers. Worksheets are the only practice given for the quizzes. Doesn't give back midterms - no way to see what you did wrong.
DO NOT TAKE. my first review on rate my professor bc that he's bad. Exams were AWFUL: way too many questions, no time. one exam had a massive error in it. Gives practice exams that are completely different format and cover stuff not on the exam...so useless. too much hw and it sucks. Never gives solutions to problems in class. condescending man
I don't know why so many classmates gave him low marks. I 100% recommend him. I also takes LA this semester. But I think he is very responsible, his lectures are clear. Since it's online, it is obvious that the number of participants is getting smaller and smaller. When you complain, please think about whether you are serious about studying.
He doesn't deserve all those negative reviews. A good professor. The lectures are very concise and slow-paced. Exams are not easy, but linear algebra is not easy no matter who you take it with. As long as you are confident with the lecture slides you should be fine because exam questions mostly resemble questions from lectures and problem sets.
He's pretty good at teaching, lectures were kind of boring because of how many definitions he had to go through but that's just Linear Algebra. The biggest drawback about taking him is that his notes are not really organized well, he will send lecture slides over announcements so it's very annoying to go back to study/work on worksheets.
(MATHUA9) BRO Ive literally never written a rate my prof but i cant take it anymore. this man is not REAL. Hes not a real human being because how can one assign SO MUCH HOMEWORK for a class that isn't even that important, its just a requirement to get into other classes. there is an UNHEALTHY, UNHOLY amount of hw weekly and i cant take it anymore
professor sanfratello, You are not a good man.
He does not care for students. He gives his students 0 points for just some little issues. Trust me. Drop his class immediately.
Awful professor, a hard grader, and the teaching way is insufficient. The lecture is not useful and never gives useful replies and feedback. DO NOT TAKE THIS UNLESS U WANT BAD GRADES AND A BAD LEARNING EXPERIENCE.
MATHUA 9- PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF AND AVOID THIS PROFESSOR AT ALL COST!! He gives an INSANE AMOUNT OF HOMEWORK AND HIS TESTS ARE SO DIFFICULT. This class requires a lot of self studying. His lectures and his responses to questions are NOT helpful! this class was a terrible experience!! I SERIOUSLY CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE. trust me don't take him
SO much homework and basically ALL self-studying -- exams are brutally difficult compared to the lectures which are not even that helpful
if you value your mental health and time, do not take Sanfratello. The lectures are not even worth going to because he does not try to teach you the material. it is a mandatory self-learn class. He will take points off your participation grade if you ask whether or not he is going to curve a grade because "you didnt listen in class"
Went to office hours and dude just didn't care basically told me to study harder and review the same useless notes. Psets are just LaTeX busy work and the proofs are near impossible to get full marks on. The good reviews are straight CAP and I feels like they're written from Sanfrantello's burner accounts.
Somehow made such easy material so incredibly hard to understand. Your grade relies primarily on three tests, and the first test many people bombed as it was completely different than the homework and quizzes he gave us. While he slightly curves grades he overall just seemed to have an unapproachable demeanor.
Discrete is meant to be difficult class as it is proof-based and thus unintuitive. While the exams can be difficult, everything is graded fairly and there is a curve at the end of the course. The lectures are very straightforward and clear. The negative reviews aren't fair as if you actually put in effort, you will get a good grade.
(MATH UA9) Beware his tests, in the multiple choice questions, he sets up trap choices so it's easy to fail. He overloads you with homework to the point that you're not eating or sleeping right. He is also extremely sarcastic when you ask questions, you'll end up feeling degraded and belittled by not knowing. Please consider changing professions.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS !!!
I took calc 1 with him and I loved it. He can come off as a bit sarcastic at times but it made the lectures humorous and fun. Really helps to go to office hours. Definitely by far my favorite professor.
Take anyone else. Had him for MFE 1 and he doesnt know the material himself. Confused us and himself. If i didnt have prerequisite knowledge i'd 100% fail this class. A quiz + an assignment every week that takes atleast 7 hours (and nothing like the exam btw) - all my time gets wasted by this class. Class avg for midterm was 31/60 & No curve.
To begin, all the professor does is read off of his slides and give as little information as possible to help his students prepare for hw & exams. The professor fails to attend to the student's issues, oftening diverting the blame from him on to the students. During private conversations, the professor isn't understandin of the student's situation
Don't take him. Took him for MFE1 and regret it. Confused us and himself. Despite having AP BC knowledge I am doing bad, would fail forsure otherwise. A quiz + an assignment every week that takes atleast 7 hours (and nothing like the exam btw) - all my time gets wasted by this class. Class avg for midterm was 31/60 & No curve.
I have already graduated and I still check his RMP page occasionally, that should tell you something
STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROF Guaranteed messy notes + terrible teaching skills. He refused to curve the test when the course average was sub-60, and the questions on the test dont match with the quizzes and assignments. Assignments take lots of time and usually have something that havent been covered in class. DONT TRUST ANY OF THE POSITIVE COMMENTS
Idk what to rate but heres my take. The lessons were fine. Wouldnt give much examples, but would give decent notes. Quizzes werent bad, but the homeworks were hard af. The exams... it doesnt matter how much you study, you'll still do bad in them. I dont think he's bad, but the overall math department for MFE is designed to fail you ;(
This professor is just bad. I've taken him twice now (not by choice), and both times his lectures are awful and you end up learning the material on your own. He gives HW assignments that take 6+ hours and they're nothing like the test. It is possible to do well in the class just be prepared to spend more time on it than all other classes combined.
Too much HW and you need to spend several hours to finish it. He gives a review sheet before the exam, but the content of the exams is very different from what is on the review sheets. He deducts points from quizzes and homework for no reason, saying that I didn't label the page numbers, but I always clearly label them in the upper left corner
He assigns a lot of homework that does not match the content on the exams. The worksheets given to us also did not reflect the content on exams. The sample exams do not help. After the second exam, he sent us a very passive aggressive email blaming the failing average on us saying that we should have known how to do everything on the exam.
Like most math professors, Andrew has been so enveloped by math that he has a hard time getting in the mindset of students who are new to the material, which makes it difficult for him to teach. He is personable if you talk to him one on one but generally is standoffish and does not inspire. Preparation for exams doesn't match exam difficulty.
Took him for MFE1 online. He was a good lecturer and made things pretty clear (it also helped that lectures were recorded for you to review). Tests and quizzes always were far more complex than examples provided in class. No flexibility when it comes to grading and he lacks sympathy for struggling students. Best advice is to go to OH!
This guy is son of B for sure!No fking curve when the average score of midterm is 58/100. Super rude.
His personality was very off-putting. He has an ego that affects his lessons greatly. I withdrew from his class because although he is smart, his treatment of students was unprofessional. Also didn't look at Moses Center Accommodations (even though I emailed him). He told me I didn't seem like I needed accommodations, and that's why I left.
By far the worst teacher you will ever have. This class is designed for the students to fail. The lectures are straightforward. However, they will provide you with absolutely no help to complete the homework that you will spend hours on. Overall, incredibly mean, almost everyone fails the exams, and no curves. Don't take this class.
His lectures are very clear, but the material on the tests are way harder than he prepares us for. His lectures go over more basic concepts, while the exams have much more challenging questions. However, the curve for his class was very good, and it was arguably the best out of all of the other MFE I professors.
never taking again...
This is the worst professor at NYU. The material he teaches in class does not match what appears on the tests. He assigns homework every single day but provides little to no guidance or feedback. He is rude to students and refuses to address recurring issues that have been pointed out in previous semesters. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS HE SUCKS!
Worked with the TA religiously and yet still had to drop, he goes through the most basic problems in class over and over. The tests are nothing like the homework and he is extremely hard to catch outside of class. Worst proffesor I have ever had at NYU EASILY.
I dont think he's as bad as some of the ratings make him out to be, he is organized and tells u exactly what to expect, but also makes no exceptions and can be blunt. if u show up and make the effort he asks, its not horrible. however I would agree the problem sets are not for the weak and aren't helpful.
So terrible at teaching. Doesn't explain topics from the beginning. He expects everybody to know everything. Gets mad when nobody asks questions, but if you ask a dumb question, he embarrasses you. Only good thing was everything was online, except for the midterm and final. Nice one one-on-one. wouldn't suggest him, especially if you're bad at math
his lectures are fairly engaging and his slides are organized... however, what he teaches in class gives students a sense of false confidence because it does not match the difficulty of problems given in the exams and other problem sets. Don't try and email him... he will send an automated email saying your email was incorrect. Lowkey annoying af.
Worst ever homework is nothing like the tests. I can only express how much you should avoid him it all costs he is evil
Terrible he needs to get fired
Avoid him if you value your sanity.
He is not only a terrible professor with no skills regarding teaching the lessons to students, but a very off-putting person. He is rude to students when they ask questions that he finds elementary. Furthermore he provides absolutely 0 preparation for the tests. Class average for the midterm was a 55 and he wears that with pride.
I dropped this class during the first week of classes!!! I knew it was going to end up badly when a guest speaker from the school tutoring services came in -day one mind you- and told the room that 80% of students will be DFW's (D's, F's, and Withdrawals). Unless you attend class, go to group study sessions, and work individually with a tutor.
I had Sanfratello for Calculus I, and I believe that he gets too little praise for his quality as a professor. His lectures aren't life changing, but they are hard-nosed and practical. He provides all resources necessary to excel in the class given that you utilize them correctly. I also enjoyed his dry sense of humor. Great professor overall.
He is a tough grader and isn't really accessible outside class—I went to his office hour in person and he asked me to ask my question online instead. I found the class difficult mostly because I am not good with math, but he could be a better professor to support us.
Whatever you do, DO NOT take this course with this professor. I went to every lecture, and the exams were literally a foreign language. If you want to keep your sanity, find a different professor for the course.
Assigns WAY too much homework. I attended every lecture, and he answers questions in an incredibly condescending way. It was basically impossible to complete the midterm in the allowed time. I have always been an A+ math student, even tested as gifted in math growing up, and scored 53% on this final. Do not take a math class with him!
Very condescending professor. Assigns a lot of homework. He does not necessarily introduce the materials, he just assumes students have some understanding of whatever he's introducing, even though we don't. Does not provide preparation for tests.
The class wasn't too hard, but I wouldn't take him for a higher-level course—he struggles to explain complex concepts (i.e., he skipped teaching synthetic division, calling it “too difficult to explain,” despite saying it was more efficient than normal long division). Expect three weekly homeworks: written, WebAssign (45–120 questions), and a quiz.
His lectures are fine, but if you want help on homework, good luck... Absolutely no help and unclear grading criteria. He's super condescending. He cares more about his syllabus than he does about actually helping students understand material.
I took he's classroom for math-ua-131 and I was just studying all the information for online and not even form his lecture. He's quiz heavy, and just jump out the class
Do not take this professor if you want to have an enjoyable experience. Genuinely the stingiest professor I've ever had, and expects you to know everything before hand. He constantly gets his own problems wrong and doesn't know how to explain things to save his life.
Sanfrantello isn't a mean guy or a bad teacher he just expects you to be really solid on the prerequisites. The homework is quite hard but the quizes aren't to bad. If youve completed Calc AB in hs you will be fine. The class just gets hard for people who haven't taken it before or didn't really pay attention when they took it in hs.
This professor is awful because he will try to find ANY possible way to take away points. I thought math was an objective grading scheme but he will imagine a way to take points away. Took 13 points off my homework because I wrote on plain paper instead of the homework itself, so stingy, so condescending, awful experience do not take!
Cares more about his syllabus than anything. I've asked for help on homework many times and was told "you can look at the answer after you turn it in". You're essentially penalized if you're too dumb or didn't quite understand stuff from class. Technically, if you do it right, the test has no surprises, but very hard.
GOOD LUCK LMAO
this man is just walking ragebait. lectures are okay but won't help you with homework or tests. if you even attempt to ask him a question, he will look you dead in the eye and tell you it's prerequisite material, and then proceed to fail at basic algebra on the board.
He actually sucks, I don't even know how he became a professor
Andrew I feel is a good professor nature wise. However, the course difficulty is extremely different between Class Material and Homework and quizzes. He is a tough grader and expect to get points taken off in Homework. I took linear algebra same semester, and that was a far tougher class. I still got 100 on my Homework there and points taken here.
The material he teaches in lectures is easy and has nothing to do with the assigned homework or quizzes. Does not prepare us for exams well or give any clarity on what is expected on the exams. When it comes to asking him questions, he struggles to answer harder level problems. Have to self teach yourself pretty much everything. Good luck!!
A lot of the reviews are harsh. He's not a bad person, he wants students to do well. Of course the class is going to be hard, he teaches difficult subjects. He definitely can't explain concepts well but we're in college, if you can't study on your own then don't expect to do well.
Very nice and genuinely wants to see his students succeed, especially if you show up to class. He's not the best at explaining concepts or answering further questions. I wouldn't recommend taking him for more challenging courses if you aren't prepared to learn independently.
Lectures are very easy to follow but do not prepare you whatsoever for the exams. He seems like a genuine guy, he makes jokes, but not a good professor. Rely on the sample exams and teaching yourself. If every time this class is taken, a HUGE curve is applied, it starts to say MORE ABOUT YOU than the students themselves. this professor IS GPA DEATH
Unfortunately this guy writes our exams and quizzes and is the course coordinator. Other MFE teachers themselves say they don't agree with the difficulty of them. A shame the department still lets him teach without correction and appoints him as coordinator without listening to all the reviews. If everyone commiserates, the issue lies with him.
He is the worst professor I've had in college and throughout my entire education. Homework and lectures don't align with each other or the exams, and neither prepares students for the midterm or final. He offers no real test prep, uses irrelevant study guides, avoids hard questions. Not to mention he has an insufferable attitude. Must be fired.
He is the worst professor at NYU!!! I would never take him again. Wait for another professor if you wish to take MFE1. The final and midterm were ridiculously hard and nothing like what we learned in class. People didn't even finish the questions. Averages are in the 50s and 60s. Worst experience in my 18 years of life.
NO!!!!!!!!!!!
i don't know why he was born. he shouldn't exist on the planet. worst professor ever.
For Calc III, I really liked his lectures. Pacing was difficult at times and he made mistakes somewhat often but nothing too detrimental. Came off condescending at times when questions were asked but overall good.
There is a generous curve in final letter grades
He posts feet pics on instagram. Thats all you need to know.
If you like him, you have a problem.
I saw a review on here about feet pics and decided to take the class anyway. I hope future me goes back in time to stop past me from taking this class. Saw the feet pics, they were . #Horror #Trauma
I don't think he is as bad as what is said here. His exam was indeed a bit difficult. But it was all based on what was taught in class. If you study hard, you can get a good grade. He uses a curve grading system, but not very much.
He really is not that bad. I mean people complain about having a lot of HW but then find the midterms/finals difficult. I took Calc 3 with him and I found all the midterms and final pretty easy. Yes, he is not the best lecturer and doesn't really know how to answer questions but he genuinely is a nice guy.
I found MFE1 extremely difficult despite having no trouble in BC. His lectures are very basic compared to homework, quizzes and tests. This made it very difficult to study for exams. He will belittle you when you ask questions, and makes mistakes in lecture. When I reached out to him for help in the class he dismissed me. Generous curve, thank god.
Lectures will make the material seem doable until you get to the homework/exams, they are 10x more difficult and the lectures only provides you with the most basic examples. There's a reason even after over a month since course registration opened up, his course is still available.
Omg noooooo. if it weren't for my wonderful high school Calc AB teacher I would have failed this class. his lectures will cover 1+1 and then his homeworks/exams will ask you to cure cancer. he posts a lot of review work but if you ask him to check your answer he'll say "idk i didn't solve these". either take AP calc or start praying if u get this.
I think the other reviews are way too harsh. He was a good professor. His lectures were very informational and he was very clear with how to solve all problems. I think his examples can be harder (because the worksheet problems are very difficult), but his explanations were good. The exams weren't too hard if you studied everything that was given.
