Professor Seely is absolutely fantastic! He is incredibly passionate about biology and you can tell through his lectures. He offers many extra credit points (however you must attend class to receive any). The exams don't try to trick you and are fairly straight forward. Just make sure to study and take notes as bio is a naturally heavy subject.
Professor is very monotone so it can be hard to pay attention at times. Very lecture heavy, if you struggle to learn by listening I would recommend reading the textbook. Study, study, study for exams as much of it is applying your understanding of the material. Overall seems like a great person.
Every class is a lecture, so be prepared to take lots of notes. The tests are difficult, but not impossible if you study correctly, pay attention, and go to class. He provides extra credit on random days to assure attendance. One big downside is the labs are very tedious (but the grade impact is not major).
This class is demanding, like any science course, but Professor Seely lectures at a very nice pace and the slides are always available on canvas. There are problem sets due each week with multiple attempts and unlimited time. Attendance is not mandatory but he does random extra credits only done in class.
Dr. Seely is a great professor for intro bio. He provides a lot of extra credit and is very willing to help students both over email and during office hours. Will be taking Biol 112 with him.
Dr. Seely is very helpful and takes time to explain concepts in lectures. He makes content relatively easy to understand, gives weekly online problem sets and provides practice exams with keys before each test. Labs are the majority of workload outside of class and besides that portion there is minimal homework.
Like any other science course, it could be a lot to learn. However, there was minimal homework outside of labs (even these had less homework than average) and tests were made for you to consistently receive an A or B if you studied topics conceptually. Attendance was not mandatory, but he would give out random extra credit points during lectures.
Professor Seely is nice, he doesn't just read of slides. He isn't the most engaging so it's hard to pay attention. He gives great extra credit through his iClicker quizzes, and there's minimal homework; just 1 problem set due every week. Exams aren't easy, but the practice exam he gives does mirror the questions on the actual exam well.
Lectures are long and get tiring and boring to listen to. Needed to study a lot for exams because they are based on deeper understanding of information. So many quizzes but they help your grade a lot. Random extra credit iclicker quizzes in class that give you points for attempting the question and more points if you get the question right.
His exams were extremely difficult even after countless hours of studying. There is so much material that is covered and its hard to know everything with detail. Lectures are boring and long. He seems like a good person but I didn't learn well with his teaching style. If you aren't good at learning by listening I wouldn't recommend.
Professor Seely is passionate and knowledgeable. The class is very lecture heavy and the slides are simplified textbook chapters so read the textbook. Go to office hours he'll go more in depth. His exams are not straight forward so you have to understand the concepts. Overall, he's a pretty cool guy and is willing to help his students.
Professor Seely was great! His lectures were hard to follow, but he is super knowledgeable and he cares about his students. His office hours were helpful and he's easily accessible outside of class. Attendance is not mandatory but you do get extra credit points from iClicker quizzes in class. Exams were hard but manageable if you study hard enough.
He's a nice guy, but not a very interesting lecturer. His tests are worded weirdly, and way harder than the problem sets or practice exams. He'll give extra credit iclicker quizzes so attendance isn't mandatory, but go to class to get extra points. Overall, he's a boring lecturer and just talks at you for the whole class.
While the lectures can be challenging to focus on, the professor is an overall great person. The tests are a bit challenging due to wording, but the provided practice exams are beneficial. It's worth attending class for the bonus points offered through iClicker..
Seely is an overall good professor who knows a lot about what he's teaching. The only problem is his mic is never loud enough and he's very monotone, so paying attention is extremely difficult so it's tough to pay attention. I have him at noon, and I still find myself falling asleep or getting on my phone. Homework is easy and there's not a lot.
I had almost no bio experience before this class, but I was able to understand and retain the information from lectures and do well on tests. This professor is very animated in class and tries to engage students in the lecture. The material can be dry at times, but he tries to make things fun. Attend class for the extra credit iclicker questions.
I really appreciate how nice Dr. Seely is. The lectures are sometimes boring, just because of the nature of the material, but the homework and practices are so helpful for the tests. He also often gives points back on the tests. Overall really sweet person who seems genuinely excited every day to teach.
Seely's classes can get boring really easily because he talks slow but he is very passionate about biology. If you don't understand a topic, read the textbook and go to office hours. Attendance is not mandatory but he does offer bonus points with iclicker questions and his exams are very detailed compared to other professors.
The worst professor you could possibly take. He likes to rant about stuff that is unnecessary. Aside from that, he only reads off of his powerpoints... and none of the content was ever on exams. If you are able to take someone else, do it. The tests are also extremely heavy.
Professor Seely is so nice! While his exams are very challenging and detailed, he is very accessible for office hours and through canvas. Attendance isnt mandatory but he does up to 30 extra points randomly in class so it is best to show up. He always posts his lectures, and although challenging if you study for exams then its very doable.
I loved professor Seely's class. You could tell when he was lecturing that he really found biology interesting so it made it a fun class to be in. There is a lot of balancing grades so it's not too hard because there are grades to balance out test grades. I truly learned so much from this class and am so happy I had him as my professor.
Prof Seely had very monotone lectures, but his teaching style helped a little to understand concepts. He stayed after class if you had questions about the lectures. Always had problem sets that helped to study for the tests along with practice tests. He also is very lenient if you miss an assignment for good reasons like work/illness. nice guy!
Dr. Seely is a passionate professor who is very kind to his students. The course was sometimes difficult and often packed with material, but Seely's office hours were helpful and he was great at walking students through any issues with lectures or practice problems. Up to ~4% of extra credit was also offered through short in-person quizzes.
Dr. Seely is awesome. He is very passionate about biology and he's great at explaining everything in his lectures. Lectures are easy to follow and exams are just like the practice tests. Very nice in office hours and genuinely wants everyone to enjoy and succeed in his class.
He's a nice professor with a calming voice. You will learn from lectures. I didn't use the textbook. You can watch YouTube videos about a material to better understand it. Attendance gives extra credit through sudden iClickers, so attend lectures. Study from the given problem sets and practice exams. Join the SI sessions for more practice material.
Comparing to other bio 111 profs and released test questions, seeley's are the easiest. -detailed lectures helpful but can be boring -lots of iclicker extra credit... so go to class -practice exams have a lot of similar/same test questions -maintained an A all semester until final bc i went in too cocky so beware! 10/10 recommend prof seely
He is a really nice person, but his lectures lack captivation. Test are difficult because the wording is weird. I studied his notes and outside materials for test prep and did just fine. Also do as well as you can in lab (do the post lab with TA) and go to class because bonus points come from iclicker!
Prof. Seely is very kind and he works hard to help you understand the material (biology is just not my thing). Attendance is not mandatory, but there are pop iclicker quizzes that he uses for extra credit. I would recommend paying attention in the lectures and studying hard for the exams. However, the course was very helpful. Highly reccommended!
His lectures were boring, reads entirely off slides (posted daily), and he speaks in a very monotone voice. His practice exams are similar to the actual exam which is good. He does extra credit i-clickers. I personally couldn't handle the boringness of the class so I dropped it.
bro what is everyone on. why is he rated so high. he's really kind and approachable but mans was literally 5 chapters behind with 4 classes left of the semester. talked about random stuff and spent so much time on random slides. tests made me physically sick because of how hard they were. that could only be me tho. maybe its just bio idk
Dr. Seely is a super nice guy, and willing to make appointments outside of class to meet. His notes are basically straight from the textbook. He's very very information heavy so do not procrastinate on studying for tests! Attendance is not mandatory but there are a ton of bonus points if you do. Overall a very doable A if you try!
Avoid this professor at all costs. He reads directly off the slides and there's over 500 slides of information for exams; nearly impossible for anyone to memorize. He says to only focus on the big picture yet tests on the smallest things that nobody would even think to study. Office hours are unhelpful, test reviews are nothing like the tests.
Super nice and approachable, very funny as well. He's a great professor, the class content is just difficult, but he does well teaching it. Lots of extra credit for coming to class. The tests are tough but he gives practice exams. Don't wait to study because the content he has to test over is tedious. He is the best option for this course, TAKE HIM
really nice guy but he does just does read off the slides. attendance isn't mandatory but he does extra credit iclickers. exams can be pretty detailed so you do have to study but overall, i would recommend
I definitely would recommend taking Seely for Bio 112. He reads off of the slides in lecture but provides good additional info about the topics. Learn everything in the slides/ notes for the exams. It is very doable to get an A. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he often has iClicker quizzes for extra credit which is helpful.
I had Seely last semester too, and this semester was a clear upgrade. He seemed much more interested in BIO112 topics than 111, so that led to good lectures. Exams were still kind of confusing and very content heavy, but overall not very hard.
Great professor. Exams a little difficult but with a little elbow grease you can get an A. He does ask for very specific details on exams so going to lecture helps.
Out of the bio profs I've had at TAMU, Seely was my favorite! He does read off the slides in lecture, but everything that is on the tests comes from them. Although attendance isn't mandatory, he gives a ton of extra credit if you go, which literally bumped my grade in the class up 2 points. Take him!!
He is a very good and caring guy. Wants his students to succeed, very available outside of class. Tests are worded very difficult and very hard.
Overall, Seely was a good professor, he was accessible, only tested on material from notes, and gave extra credit. His tests were really hard and specific (memorize the photos in the slides) so you have to put in a lot of time to study outside of class. I didn't like that he gave us like 1 minute for iclickers but oh well.
Seely is a super nice guy and his lectures aren't always the most interesting but his slides are full of information. He did get behind in lecture which caused him to cram at the end of the semester. Problem sets are super easy, but test are very specific in detail. Definitely study the slides, that is where he pulls all of his information.
Dr. Seely is a great professor. I took him for 112 bc of his 111 course. Although, this semester he did get behind on lecture but it turned out fine. His lectures are kind of boring and his tests are pretty specific, but his office hours are helpful. Also he does a lot of bonus points and try not to take this class at 8am.
Super understanding professor who gives a ton of extra credit. Show up to class for iClicker quizzes (which all go towards extra credit). He does get behind the labs for lectures but makes the tests accordingly. Would 100% take again. I got B's simply because I didn't study enough, but if you put in the work you'll do fine.
Dr. Seely definitely cares for his students and it shows. His lectures can get a bit boring but they are easy to follow and his course is well structured. Show up to class for iClicker EC and make sure to do your best on all problem sets & lab. I bombed the 3rd exam but studied really hard for the final and still ended with an A. Highly recommend!
Seely is a great professor, but overall the class was difficult as most biology classes are. The extra credit helped for test grades (the is common in all bio classes) I recommend doing quizlets and studying everything. It is important to understand the concepts in order to answer the "application" based test questions.
Dr. Seely is kind and very knowledgeable. Tests progressively got more difficult. Pinpoint areas of weakness in the material, then the tests will be easier. Doing well on the practice exams is a good sign that you know how to study for his tests. Whilst the class can be boring, iclicker points (randomly during lecture) will SIGNFICANTLY help you.
Dr. Seely was a great professor. He explained the concepts fairly well, and often tried to interact even at 8am. Lectures could sometimes be dull, but its a lot of concepts to cover. The course covers a lot so its difficulty is up there. Offers a lot of extra credit. He seemed fairly accessible outside class. He was just an overall great guy.
I had a hard time with his material, but I managed to still get a good grade. I didn't read the textbook at all (it wasn't required). Sometimes he goes into specific tangents which don't contain necessary info for the exam. Iclicker is worth extra credit at the end which really can help your grade, so showing up to class matters.
First lecture exam is easy, the next two and the final get much harder. They are easy A's if you are able to put 2 or 3 days of memorizing (the slideshows) into each exam. I struggled to listen in class, but his office hours were helpful, and I would go close to the time of the tests. You can also miss a few iclickers and still get all 30 points.
Professor Seely was a very nice professor! However, in comparison to some other BIO 111 teachers his exams were much more challenging and would have very small details on it. It wasn't extremely challenging but it was definitely more difficult than others. Although there is I-clicker extra credit so make sure to show up to class!
Good professor but sometimes hard to stay focused because he is very monotone. slides are good for notes but always put in a weird order. tests aren't too bad if you put in 2-3 days of memorization/studying.
His test are very straight forward and he will drop questions if too many people miss them. He does iclickers for bonus points (mostly on Friday classes). He goes slow but he explains well and is fairly easy to get in touch with. He is super helpful in office hours and his practice test are pretty similar to his real test. I would recommend.
Seely is extremely monotone and literally just reads off the slides. Tests are impossible. He's a nice guy just not very engaging.
Nice but low grades
Dr. Seely is a good professor but is lacking in some areas. He is monotone and tends to go on tangents about things you don't really need to know. You can tell he really cares about the class, however, paying attention to his lectures is nearly impossible if you have difficulty focusing. His exams are difficult but you can do well if you study.
Solid, Office hours are available all the time and VERY helpful especially for Exams, just make sure to not expect other students to ask questions during office hours, if you wan't clarifications you have to ask, he doesn't jus review everything. 1 on 1 are also available.
Good professor overall and a great person. He covers all of the important topics on his slides but they can lack detail. I spent my time at home not only studying the slides but looking for outside resources as well. He gives 20 extra credit points with Iclicker and a few more for filling out the course survey.
His lectures are very helpful for the tests and he goes over lots of material so be prepared to learn! Really focus on what he is saying during the lectures as he doesn't read off the slides (he actually knows the material). He is super sweet, wants students to do well in his classes, and is always ready to answer questions!
Seely is a very nice Prof who cares about his students. He explains the concepts very well they're just boring at times. Attendance not rly mandatory but bonus iClicker points help at end of semester. 3 tests and none are dropped, imo 2nd is the hardest. Lecture heavy and memorization of processes. Lab is dependent on TA but very easy.
Professor Seely is great, He is someone who actually knows what he's talking about when teaching the class. The test may be difficult, but he gives you all of the tools necessary to succeed on them...your grade depends on how you study the notes. Lectures may be boring, but that's just due to the material that has to be covered. Great professor.
I ended with 97 in 112. I put an average of 15 hrs of memorizing/studying in each test (the third test was more like 25 hrs). But, if you memorize everything, the tests are pretty chill. While his lectures were hard to sit through sometimes, his office hours are great as he explains the thought processes that go into answering practice questions.
i thought he was nice, i didnt study at all and my grade is fine. honestly i averaged about a 65% on exams and only need a 56% on the final to keep my B, if you have the same study habits as me though youll need about a 90% in lab. his lectures are hard to pay attention to but i know my friends who went to SI did well on the exams.
His lectures go significantly more into depth than other 111 professors, and the tests are generally pretty difficult. You will have to study a ton outside of class in order to pass the exams, but if you're wanting to go to professional school in the future, this may actually end up benefitting you.
Dr. Seely is alright, he is pretty monotone, so lectures can be boring. The tests are somewhat challenging, but if you study and do the practice test (which is very similar to the test) you will succeed. The textbook is free and somewhat helpful, but I found youtube videos to be much more helpful than the lecture or textbook.
great professor! his lectures are a bit slow and boring but his exams aren't too bad. make sure to study the practice exams, problem sets, and slides. i definitely recommend going to si sessions!! he also gives extra iclicker points that can help your overall grade. the lab isn't too bad either but also depends on the TA and their grading.
Chill guy, attendance not mandatory but iclicker is pretty good extra credit, tests are based off reviews and slides, lectures can sometimes be boring but very nice prof
Dr. Seely is a nice guy but lectures are VERY boring. He just reads off the slides and exams are lecture heavy, so take good notes. It's not a hard class but get ready to put in effort during exams. He also speed runs some lectures if we're behind so most of this class will be self-study.
Great class. DO LAB QUIZZES. 10 total problem sets and 3 test with a final. 2nd and 3rd tests were difficult but if you study, you'll be fine. I didn't pay attention in lecture but used the notes to study and teach myself, and came out of the class with an A. Super easy cumulative final. Very passionate teacher but lecture can be boring.
Everything in the class was fairly easy besides tests.Tests made me physically sick, I would spend hours a day for weeks to prepare and would still fail the exams. He made the exams tricky on purpose so that all the answer choices would only be a few words off and sound correct. He gave a lot of extra credit and the TA you get matters for your grade.
Overall Seely is a great professor. His exams are very detailed as well as his lectures. The grading of this course is very fair so there's nothing to worry about there. His lectures are heavy with extra information that is not posted in the lecture notes that are in canvas, so you have to be there the majority of the time. He is very monotoned.
All the content on exams was covered in lecture, so just by going to lecture and having taken AP Bio it was very easy to get an A. You can get extra credit by going to lecture, and many of the questions on the final were the exact same as questions on the practice exam and midterms. Seely is very kind but I found his lectures pretty boring.
Even though I got an A in this class, Seely was a hard professor. His exam questions were over the most specific, dumb things, which made it difficult. Exam 3 average was a 62%, so do with that what you will. I think he was one of the hardest BIOL 111 professors out of all of them at TAMU. Lectures were so boring. Would not recommend.
3exams, progressively more difficult. I used A Plus tutoring, very helpful. Went over everything in lectures. The tests were very specific, but manageable if you studied (2 C's 2 B's). Weekly practice sets and mock exams. 20 EC points (max) from iClicker randomly. Office hours were helpful. Didn't read the textbook once.
He makes BIOL111 more difficult than it needs to be. Lots of fluff during lecture, easy to zone out and then miss when something is actually important. Exam questions are very convoluted. There's already so much information - if you haven't taken AP bio or some sort of equivalent, this class would make it a lot more difficult.
this is just a really difficult class, but dr seely does his best. his lectures are pretty monotone and HELD is an easy building to fall asleep in. His tests ask very specific questions so you REALLY have to understand the material. I did bad on all the tests but got a 95 on the final and got that A. definitely possible, but be prepared to STUDY.
Dr. Seely lectured from slides based on the textbook and provided fill-in-the-blank versions for notes. The final pulled questions from the three lecture exams, which were moderately difficult if you studied and completed the practice exam. Weekly problem sets were always three attempts, and iClicker could add up to 2 points to your final average.
I took AP bio in high school so I didn't have to listen to a single lecture from this guy. Lectures tend to be boring, but if you take notes and STUDY you will do fine. I recommend for tests to read over the notes, overview the textbook (specifically know how to do the practice problems), and do the practice test. It is an easy class if you try.
He sticks to the lecture slides, so reviewing those will give you plenty of help when it comes to exams. Midterm Exams are also a great resource to study for the final.
He is a nice dude, his lectures were pretty normal but I just didn't feel like paying attention most of the time so I ended with a B+. He knows what he's talking about and does his best to give everyone a fair chance. You still have to study a ton and be prepared for some average low test scores, but professor wise he was alright, would take again.
Seely is awesome and I loved going to his class. He is very witty and charismatic, so it's actually quite enjoyable to attend lectures. This class is heavy in information and memorization, but Seely makes sure you have all the necessary information to do well.
Exams are very complex in comparison to lecture material. Slides are fill in the blank, but exams do test on application based physiology. Very different than A&P 1. He is a very kind professor and does care about students but lecture exam averages are in high 60s at times.
If you attend all the lectures, you'll be fine.
He reads off of the slides and tests on things beyond the notes. He is very application based instead of factual. He also gets excited when averages are 60-70 which is a little discouraging. Lab is easy in comparison to lecture.
Seely is a very nice guy but the exams are unreasonably hard. He thinks that an average of a 70 is good and actually tells us that he is happy with that. There are smartbooks due every Sunday that don't really help you with the exams and are usually more than 70 topics. Lab is just as hard (maybe worse) than bio 319 lab.
Dr. Seely is super friendly and encouraging! His exams are much more difficult than 319 exams and are very application based, so if you cram the information from the slides rather than understanding the material you will struggle. He is preparing us for further physiology courses and further education though, and he wants his students to succeed!
biol 320 is not an easy kindergarten memorization course like 319. everything is application based. you should read beyond the slides and ensure that you understand each system thoroughly. the course is interesting and well worth your time to invest in it. seeley is a super nice! great prof to talk to.
Where do I begin. He made this class unnecessarily hard. He was proud of a class full of pre-med students averaging 60s on tests. He's a nice professor but that makes no difference in the end. He gave 1/4 lecture exams before spring break (why?) and the other 3 after spring break with a lab practical in between lecture exams. Will never recommend.
Super nice guy and overall an alright professor. But I found his lectures very boring and hard to pay attention to, plus he seems to just read off the slides. His lectures aren't very thorough, but his exams are HARD - some of the hardest exams i've taken in college. There are homeworks each week that are time consuming but a nice way to get points
I do not recommend this prof at all. His test are very hard and nothing to do with lecture. He gets his slides from the textbook and basically reads off them. 0/10 teacher
So much harder than A&P1 despite the content getting more difficult. As far as right now, there's no changing grade cutoffs. Exams are difficult and need to “read beyond the slides.” Lecture itself is very monotone and I have trouble focusing — he makes me want to fall asleep. Lab is somehow easier than lecture but still difficult.
BIOL 320 is not as easy as 319. People saying that Dr. Seely is not a good prof are just upset about their grades but as a professor he is actually very nice and gives PLENTY of extra credit. He sometimes curves class grades depending on the averages. His exams and the way he teaches are just like Taylor (the other 320 prof). I recommend taking him
Not the best or the worst prof. Didn't like how the lectures were dense but had almost nothing relevant to the exams; it was important to know beyond the slides and apply it to the questions. The HW was also pretty time consuming and not helpful for knowing test information. 4 exams only worth 80 each though, so getting an A is definitely possible.
Dr. Seely's lectures are boring, it is super hard to stay attentive the whole time he is lecturing. His exams have very little relevancy to his slides. I found lab to be easier and that is saying a lot. He is for sure better than Taylor but really not the best A&P professor. His EC is also low key hard so I am currently annoyed with Seely.
The exams are really hard and very application based. Averages were lower than taylors every time. His lectures were just him reading off the slides, and would always go a few minutes past time class ends. Have to do your own studying with external resources to do well. His slides that he reads are just straight from textbook. lab is very doable.
Lecture was boring. He pushed back stuff & was behind the whole semester, so he rushed a lot of things tbh. Exam 3 over the cycles was a killer, but the others were fine (overstudy for exam 1 to start strong) . iclicker was helpful, so take them seriously. SI helps & seely was easy to reach out to, an a is achievable with good studying.
Everything on here is 100% accurate. Not the worst prof. Boring lectures. Application based tests which are based on analysis of material beyond the slides. I recommend doing ALL smartbooks in the first month of class. Go to help desk for lab once a week. Keep up on studying; do NOT cram. Very doable if you have a good memory and study routine
Nice guy just a very poor lecturer. He used McGraw Hill PowerPoints all semester. Slides were very dense and repetitive. He read the slides like reading the textbook. If I knew my tuition was going to be used to pay someone to read to me I would've taken someone else! Exams were application based pretty easy but had a few stupid questions.
Same as everyone else here. He's not a horrible prof, just that lectures are boring and exams are harder than they have to be. Lab was much easier than lecture compared to 319. Extra cred from iClicker and might lower cutoffs. First time teaching A&P so can't rlly blame him, I'd say go w Taylor. Overall, decent prof and a slightly difficult class.
He just reads off poorly made slides copied from the textbook. The tests were hard, as many questions did not make sense and were not in the slides at all. (I suspect AI!) EC, however, helped, but they were also questionable. He peeved me because he was proud of test averages being barely over 70.
Decent guy but one of the worst profs I've ever had. He's happy to see averages between 60-70% on exams, uses AI for parts of his lectures, and the exams cover material that goes past the lectures of which he DOES NOT teach us. The "lowered grade cutoff" he put out is also incredibly insulting, lowering an A from 900 points (out of 1000) to 895.
He pretty much just reads off the slides in monotone. The cutoff was an insult to us and he went radio silent for days. He would be happy that the class averages were in the 60s and 70s. Don't expect to do far above average in the class and get an A even if it's all you do. He was a really nice guy, just not a great professor!
I'm not going to bash Dr. Seely. He's a really nice guy & really does care. His exams were just really difficult and lectures boring. I do believe he gives us the materials to succeed in the course. You just have to know the material inside and out which is hard considering other classes. The grade cutoff went down only .5 which was disappointing.
People complain about his grade cutoff but the average grade was a 86% in his class. He was boring, and his exams were a bit difficult, but he gave 25 extra bonus p
Lab is not bad, and lecture can be difficult. But if you put enough effort in, the class isn't bad. I got 60/80 on 2 exams, but still got an A with room to spare. He gave 25 bonus points. You can get an A if you put in work, a lot of people in the class were just lazy and complained. He only used AI for images( people are making him out to be bad)
Prof Seely was overall a very nice caring guy. I can say he does not compare to Lee from 319 though. This was his first semester teaching 320 and he just reads off the slides. The lecture exams were very difficult which makes up for about 30% of your grade. Both Dr. Seely and Dr. Taylor offer EC so doesn't matter on that. I would take Taylor.
He lectures entire chapters just two days before exams and assigns homework on chapters not even covered on the test, but meant for future ones. Despite lower class averages compared to other sections, he only gave a 0.5-point curve. I don't recommend taking his class if you want a fair chance at doing well, no matter how hard you study.
Seely is a nice person but not the best professor. He just reads off his slides and assigns a bunch of homework that doesn't help much with exams. After talking about lowering the grade cutoff for so long, he only reduced the A cutoff from 900/1000 to 895/1000.
Dr.Seely's lectures are long. He has fill in the blank slides from a textbook and sometimes has new material the day before an exam which gives no time to prepare. Exam averages were always in the 70s. He does give extra credit and is willing to give you tips on what to study and how! I don't think he is as bad as people are making him seem.
>200 slides per exam but asks abt the smallest line on the slide. said he would make the last exam fair, straightforward & not pull questions from outside sources, but isnt that what ur supposed to do for all exams?? said he would curve if enough ppl did the course eval & told us after grades were due that theres no curve💀
Dr. Seely is so nice and is funny. He tries to make his lectures engaging, but he over simplifies topics in lecture. His slides were NOT consistent with the test. I would recommend reading the textbook before his lecture for each topic/chapter. Lab is easier in BIOL320 than BIOL319. Overall, Seely is really nice, and he dos care, but test are HARD.
Told me to use chat GPT to study when I went to office hours. His exams are so unfair and can't be aced with solely the book and slides.
Seely is a nice guy, but his exams are horrendous. The wording isn't clear, and he often can't fit all the material on the slides or before the exam. Last exam we did basically all of a chapter the lecture before the exam, and it was 1/3 of the exam. There's 200+ slides per exam but they're useless since they're just fill-in-the-blank no concepts
Dr. Seely was extremely nice, and it's SO obvious he cares about students. extremely helpful in helping me(some personal events came up, and I needed to take an exam early). However his exams certainly aren't the easiest, They're VERY focused on physiology side, so know application! Lab is RIDICULOUS tho, they have no clue what they're doing lol.
Does iClicker for credit. Does fill-in-the-blank lectures, not a fan Start studying the lab manual as soon as you get it. Lab was easier for me than lecture (not a great test taker). He is a really nice guy, gave us extra credit for doing course evaluation. Still think he is better than Taylor.
Great guy! Exams can be pretty hard since they're VERY application-based, but if you can fight for your answers he'll give credit back. I just made quizlets and did fine but you should find a way to better understand the material alongside flashcards. This lab is way easier than A&P 1 lab (less anatomy memorization and more conceptual content)
super nice guy! forgot to do a hw once and he opened it for me js bc. that being said, his lectures are boring and they're js the textbook copied+pasted. exams are difficult, so focus on doing well on 2/4 lecture exams and acing the practicals. if you can do that, you'll be in comfortable range for an A, even if you do eh on the other 2 exams.
Don't sleep on lab, get started early. He is a very nice guy, but lectures can be boring at times. He asks tougher exam questions than the 319 profs so you need to understand the material not just memorize it. At the end of the semester, he gave ec, and I think he may be lowered the cutoff for an A?
Lots of smart worksheet every week that may or may not coincide with what lecture is doing at the same time. exams are hard and questions are honestly straight from left field. averages on exams are Cs but he does offer 10 bonus pts from course evals and any excess iclicker you get to keep as bonus. overall a solid prof but not easy
