Wonderful teacher! The Dr. Drew guarantee is not a lie. He'll bend over backwards for you. We need mroe credible teachers like Dr. Drew here at UWL! Easy to understand, tests on material learned, nothing hidden in his class, great teacher!
Awesome prof. He and Chilsen have the best stories from real-life experiences. I learned tons more from that than I did from the book. He is extremely fair, and wouldn't have a problem with everybody getting an A if they deserved it.
Very good teacher, tests are easy, lots of real life stories
Although he doesnt really teach much of the material...he's a great help on projects. His tests are easy. Very easy "A".
Dr. Stapleton is awesome! I have him for 393 and 398 right now, and he is great in both of them. What the other students have said is true, to the letter. He also lets you out of class early and will actively engage you in fun stories. He really does want to give everyone an A. Take him! :)
This is one of the best professors here I think. It is an easy class, easy tests, and he is just an awesome guy. He is highly recommended!
PROS: Coolest teacher I've taken thus far! Really nice guy. Tells great stories! CONS: Office hours are something like 8-9am.
Too much stories.
sometimes selfish...
Randomly throwing some stories.
PROS: Very cool & very nice. Very approachable & always helpful. Has a great sense of humor. He really preps you for EXAMS/QUIZES! CONS: Kills a million trees w/ each day's handouts - they need to be shortened! Some of them would be more interesting if they were.
Interesting professor, seems to want every student to do well. Nice guy to just chat with. Prep before exam made them easy, but I don't really feel I learned a lot in this class. No final exam, just what ever students feel like presenting as a final project.
Basically he gets to the point of what you need to know. The lectures aren't filled with garbage. He picks the essentials of the course and makes sure you understands those. It was a great night class - Drew knew how to mix up the night and keep students active. He definitely got me interested in logistics and he is willing to answer questions and relates things to the real world. I highly reccommend him.
Not sure if this was the professors first online class, but he was very unclear about expectations.
Terrible teacher. Doesn't teach you anything and then takes random points off on the tests even though you have the answer 100% correct. Always finds something to take points off of. Very unapproachable and unwilling to help. Acts as if you are a nuisance to him. Do not take.
Everyone told me to take him and I wish I hadn't. Sure he is easy, if you get every question EXACTLY right on his tests.Even adding and rounding errors are docked 50%, which is -10 points a question. That's his grading policy. His extra credit is ridiculously hard.He gives 2 dumb group projects while Gillis only gives 1. Take Gillis, shes way easier.
Easy class, especially during the summer. Wants you to do well, so don't hesitate to ask him questions. May seem unapproachable, but great guy once you get to know him. Awesome stories, which help get the class involved. I would definitely take him again.
Dr. Drew was the best professor I have ever had. He tells stories that are actually relevent to the real world. It is obvious he knows his stuff. Very fair. Wants the students to get the most out of his classes, and his 'guarantee' is 100%. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I spent more time thinking about what a waste of my life this class was than Stapleton spent preparing for it. Seriously, not once did he mention any relevant topics like SixSigma or any other quality system that I'm sure will remain oblivious of because he never held class or taught anything useful. The final was getting **** on video.
Class is ridiculous, 1st half of semester is spent writing a 5 pg. paper every week on long articles which it turns out he doesn't even read because some ppl. turned in the same paper twice! Final project joke too, make sure you brush up on your stats. because he gives no review before he assigns the project. Plus side you never stay the whole ti
And I thought I've had bad profs... the name of the class is Total Quality Management, right? I couldn't name one TQM principle or even give you a very coherent definition of what it is. Not joking. We have had to make nitpicky corrections to our project (which he doesn't explain) three times now... for a pass/fail class.
I don't know how many times this semester I said out loud "Stapleton is the man!" He has a calm demeanor and is very clear with everything. The exams are difficult, but you can make up for them with the project and journals. He teaches all applications and not out of the text. Lots of real world knowledge. The video is fun. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
So, this class was supposed to be an easy A. But, Stapleton decided to teach this semester, so he gave a lot of hard tests with lots of memorization of formulas that you will never use again. He provides some real life experiences to relate the material to the class but it really doesnt.
Hes not so bad! The formulas you have to memorize for tests are pretty easy if you put a little time into it. He has some interesting stories to tell. I would recommend him.
Dr Drew is the man. He has awesome stories that actually relate to the real world. There were 2 exams, first one was challenging but second one was just applying formulas, so it's basically algebra. Final project was a lot of work, but he grades them fairly easily. I'll have him next semester for 398 and i'm looking forward to it. Great Guy!
"Dr. Drew" is a joke. He doesn't care about anything but Dr. Drew. I didn't learn a thing about Operations OR logistics, which he is supposed to be an expert in.
Stapleton was easygoing, fun, and is honest about requirements. He has some really great stories, and i highly recommend taking mgt 393 with him. He keeps the fun in college classes, and he won't bore anyone to death.
do not take any other 393 professor i have taken gillis, not advised or tolerable
The class is easy, but he's not a very good teacher. If you really wanna learn somthing probably take Gillis. His grading system for tests is really arbitrary and actually knowing the material is not as important as adhering to his bull**** stipulations for all the questions. Grades the final project pretty easy tho, guranteed A or B in the class.
best teacher compared to others
Take him for MGT 393! He is awesome professor! He uses real world examples and has a lot of good stories which help in understanding the concepts! He's a great professor and he gets straight to the point, teaches you what you need to know and not the bullsh*t. Awesome class! Very relevant & super useful!
The first half of the semester was a breeze! There was no homework because there's no textbook in his class. The exams weren't as easy as I thought though. You really have to listen to what he says in class because he puts anything and everything on the exam. The project was incredibly time consuming and difficult. His grading is very unfair.
Professor Stapleton is terrible. Puts zero effort into teaching, grades arbitrarily, and doesn't reply to his email. Take someone else.
Easily the worst professor I have had at UWL. The group project is extremely unclear, and he offers virtually no help other than cryptic hints about what direction to go. Do not take him unless you like huge, stressful projects.
With no textbook in the class, it is hard to learn the material. He doesn't make an effort to teach or help students. I'm still not sure what I was supposed to get out of his class.
Not only is his teaching style horrible, but Dr. Stapleton accused my of cheating on an online midterm with no proof whatsoever. He chose to give me a 0% on the test, forcing me to drop the class. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! He does not care if you pass or not and will not help you with anything. God like complex and thinks he knows everything. Very hard and he doesn't care about students.
Do not take online classes from Prof. Stapleton! He lays out unclear expectations, seems incapable of giving straight answers to questions, does not respond to e-mails, grades capriciously, and will lower one's grade further when one complains to the dean and board of regents about him :) I can't believe they let this guy teach grad school.
He is not a very good professor at all. His exams are all over the place and there is a final paper that he doesnt give many requirements for until you hand it in and have to redo everything...i woudl suggest taking a differnt professor
Easily the worst instructor of I've ever had. I don't think I took a single positive thing away from the class. No instruction, doesn't answer questions asked, doesn't provide rubric/requirements, arbitrary grader. avoid if ya can
Unresponsive. Doesn't give homework back. Don't know how he grades things. Class can be interesting but I wouldn't take him again if I could help it.
Class was a forum type class so it fit his style of teaching. Really likes discussion. First half of the class was tough second half was incredibly easy. Nice guy, if you show interest in topic and make some good points you won't have any problems.
Took this class over J term. Super easy! 3 exams, the first and second one is open note, and the third is a group exam. The final project is tedious (23 single spaced paper) in groups of 3. However, the presentation part is easy, just have a fun activity. The class seemed pointless looking back, I didn't learn anything, but it was an easy class.
TERRIBLE professor. Lazy, unwilling to help, unclear stipulations for class and for the final report(which he doesn't even read but grades arbitrarily). Never rated a prof before but he was THAT bad I had to share. Class is easy enough, got an A on all exams, but I literally took nothing away from it. Avoid if you intend to learn something.
Worst professor I've ever had. Unfair grading, doesn't seem to care about if you actually learn anything. Had some interesting stories but I didn't learn anything that will be useful in the real world.
Terrible teacher, doesn't care at all about the students nor the class.
This class was very easy for me. The first half of the semester is spent with lectures and 3 exams. The exams are open note and open book! If you follow your notes and examples, you will do well! The second half of the semester is spent working on a group projectpresentation. If you have a good group, it isn't bad! No final!
Wow, I'm baffled he has so many bad reviews. I took MGT 393 over Jterm, and it was very easy going. Two open note/book exams, one short paper, one group project. Recopying my notes was as much studying as I needed. The group project is informal and pretty fun. He forgets to look for raised hands in class, so speak up if you have a question.
Tests are difficult, but it's open book/open note. The first half of the semester is intensive learning, but the second half is all presentations. Once you're group has gone, you're basically done with the course other than a large paper that you have all semester to work on. Decent instructor, and it sounds like an easier class than Gillis's.
Drew is a really interesting person and has a lot of unique experiences that relate to the course. My biggest dislike was that he doesn't base his course off of any textbook so it is hard to study and follow for exams. Huge group projects take most of the semester. If you do well on the project the class will be okay for you.
Drew is very passionate about his lecture on Green Operations and Maths. You watch videos literally most of the class, however there are two papers you write. He makes big groups to conduct a research project with no paper. Do the work for the three grade items and you will pass extremely easily.
Drew has GREAT, interesting STORIES. He does not use the textbook, so you have to show up to get the material. The tests are open book/group, but if you do one thing wrong you get the whole problem wrong. If you get on his good side, it shouldn't be a problem to work things out. Show up, pick a good group for the project, and you'll be fine.
The class itself is super easy. Tests are all open note except for the last one which is a group exam. The class itself is dry and lectures are boring but I learned some interesting stuff from listening to other group projects. You have a big group project but once you present you're basically done with the class. Minimal effort for a B.
Took this class over J Term and it was probably the best decision I've made in a while. Even though it costs a little extra to take it over J Term, Dr. Stapleton makes this a breeze. For a class that would traditionally suck to take over a semester term, he makes it tolerable. I would recommend it. It was an easy A and I'm a BC average student.
Drew is the best. Make sure he knows and you'll be fine. My favorite mgt professor on campus without a doubt.
I took with him multiple classes (393, 492, 493) and I am certain he is the best mgmt professor on campus. Show up to class & make sure he knows you and you'll be fine. Some participation might really help.
LOVE DR. STAPLETON!!! Class is based on 3 exams, 2 of which are open note and 1 is a group exam/ a group project where the presentation is all games and telling funny stories. This class is so easy and fun, if you have to take 393, take it from Drew!! Make sure to read all instructions on exams, he hides extra credit and tricks in the instructions!
Drew is a good professor. The exams were open note and he was clear about what would be on them. The downside is the project. If you are one of the first to present, you can have over a month less of work time than your peers. On the other hand, however, once you present, the class is essentially done for you.
I took this class over the summer and it was the easiest class I have ever taken. Prof Stapleton himself was great. I learned a lot from him and thought his insight was great. There are only 3 exams. 2 open note 1 is a group exam. Read the exams carefully! Big group project at the end of the class. Personally thought the project was a lot of fun!
Drew is a great professor. The class is based on only a couple grades. Tests are exactly what as he says they will be and if you take good notes you will do fine. The class in general is interesting and I learned a lot of useful information to help my career in management. Drew is an extremely intelligent professor and I highly recommend.
The midterm and final are both finished around the first half of the semester, and then the rest of the class is mainly just the field trip and group project, both of which are easy A's if you show up and do your part. The statistics part was tough at first, but his exams followed the examples in class and we got to use our notes. Really funny guy!
He is an amazing professor. Very clear about what he wants and grades based on the rubrics he creates.
Lectures can be super boring, but halfway through the semester presentations start which are kinda fun! The material can be difficult but he adds random extra credit questions to the exams and they are all open-note. He is not a harsh grader. Definitely recommend!
Drew Stapleton is the worst professor Ive had during my time at UWL. He told the same stories multiple times, was to lazy to post material online. Textbooks was not used and study material was not posted online except maybe a few review problems.
Assignments are never too difficult, but the tests are challenging even being open-notes. Lectures are often random and unprofessional. Terrible communication through email and will go around answering your question. Especially if it is online, I would not recommend taking his classes.
Very unprofessional and random, would not recommend.
If you miss one requirement on the grading rubric, your score will not be counted and you'll receive a zero. Firm on that and will not sympathize on anything you fail to read or see in the syllabus. Very technical, unforgiving, and tough grading professor. 0/10 would not recommend.
Extremely unprofessional and doesn't care for students. Don't bother reaching out to him he'll only give you a snide response.
Lectures recorded from previous semesters. Hard to get ahold of and he makes you redo assignments several times before you get more than 0 points.
Please do not take this course or professor online. I'm sure professor Stapleton's teaching strategy works well in person, but the formatting of the online class is unorganized, unclear, and downright confusing. It is a cluster of recorded lectures from previous sections of the course, which all seemed to be set up differently. Beware.
Extremely unprofessional and seems to take pleasure out of being extremely rude to students. I asked for help multiple times over email and I would either get no response or a rude remark. Class isn't impossible but be prepared to do it on your own because he won't be providing any help.
He is a terrible online teacher, just makes class "mandatory" to show you a video of him talking from last year. Is super rude to students and criticizes your personal opinions. Speaks like he's looking down at you and never really fully helps you. Forced you to do a group project yet never helped our group at all. I regret taking his class.
Professor S. Is hard to please. He will give you 0s until you complete assignments multiple times. He rarely replies to emails. The group project in online format is as nearly impossible.
The professor's expectations are not realistic, and instructions are not well written. For the final project things are listed multiple times and it is 6 pages of long instructions that are not clear. He does not have PowerPoint slides and expects you to learn via him talking on video.
Hes online and gives u 12 hours to take your exams, big semester project
Professor Stapleton cares about what he is teaching and is willing to meet outside of class to discuss things that are not understood. I had 12 hours for the tests. Sometimes instructions were unclear. He also tells interesting stories in his lectures related to the topic which make the lectures kind of bearable.
Professor Stapleton has ridiculous expectations. If you get one part of the exam wrong due to a calculation error , he will mark all following parts incorrect. I have never had a professor grade so unclearly. Directions are not clear. And he does not care about his students.
I would not recommend taking any of his courses. He has unrealistic expectations and seems as if he doesn't care about his students. He is condescending and rude when he comments back on your tests or even responding in his emails.
Professor Stapleton is not clear at all about any instructions. His class is also incredibly boring and disengaging. Would not recommend.
You will learn nothing in this class but probably get an A. His class is hybrid. His PowerPoints are so unhelpful and his canvas page is so unorganized. Exams are online, no lockdown. Does not teach how to do math just shows the problem then the page of solution, and does not walk through the steps. Big group project presentation and paper.
The class was just super boring. Nothing interesting about it. Half of the class was online. We barely covered anything outside of shipping when it comes to supply chain management. Group project was not hard at all. Tests were super easy. Skip this class if you can.
Stapleton himself was kind of a lazy professor, but the class itself (MGT 393) was super easy. You get to co-create the course in the beginning of semester so all your exams are online. His lectures are a little lacking in information, so they're not really helpful unless you're in class, but the exams themselves are pretty easy. I would recommend.
Easy class, lazy professor. Lots of miscommunication for assignments and not responsive to emails. Doesn't seem to care to much about his students, have asked him questions multiple of times and he usually doesn't give a clear answer.
If you aren't going into a supply chain management career, take him. His tests are open everything and can be taken outside of class. His lectures are worthless and he teaches you nothing and starts every class off with an irrelevant magic trick, wasting 20 minutes then lets you out 30 minutes early.
What a weird class. The lectures and content wasn't organized well but he's an easy grader and directions are in canvas. Exams are easy, weekly assignments are easy, group project at end has a lot of freedom- easy points. Ask him about his dogs and you're his best friend. Tells a lot of personal stories. Not really sure what I learned this semester
