Somtimes explains too much, or rants a bit... but is a good teacher if you try..

I enjoyed him, he knows his stuff, but expects you to know it too. Not a simple class, but you will learn, and isn't that the point?

Hard Class but awesome and extremely helpful teacher.

Explains things very clearly, makes it simple to understand. Exams are decent, not easy but not impossible. Overall grading is kinda sucky. I messed up last exam and he told me I deserved an A-/B+ overall but somehow I ended up with a B-.

Strowe is the best math teacher at UMD, they won't let him teach upper level and that's a tragedy. He's so helpful and clear and concise in class...go to him anytime and he'll sit with you thru your homework. I've done many an assignment in his office.

Labs are a pain, but he presents material in a clear and easily understandable way (and is available foe help).

Prof. Strowe is a very helpful instructor. The material is difficult, but he is willing to help and he tries to ensure that everyone knows what they're supposed to do.

Great teacher. Sometimes, he'll nickel and dime you to death on tests, but is willing to discuss grades and in the end, you do pretty well if you worked hard and kept up with the material.

He knows the subject well which makes paying attention in class easier because unlike most professors he tries to clarify how to solve the problems. His tests aren't the easiest, but they're not the toughest either. He's definitely a good professor.

Very good Prof, he is very helpful and make the material very clear. He gives quizes to prepare for the exams and the quizes let u know what u need to work on. He gives partial credit on exams too!!!

Great instructor. Very clear when explaining subject matter. Had a dry sense of humor, but he was funny. His demeanor is very low key. He will help outside class and is readily available.

I recommend to all! No surprises on tests. One poor showing will not affect an otherwise good semester. xtremely helpful if you ask.Willing to consider any problems that are presented to him. Favorite color=Blue.

Easy tests and have no tricks in them, but i think he explains things too fast sometimes, but if u could do the hw you should be fine. A note on the side: I believe he is color blinded, so people please don't critisize his dressing.

Prof Strowe is a GREAT teacher...I'll admit sometimes his lectures go off topic and seem pointless, but as long as you do most of the homework, the tests should be easy. He is also very helpful with the labs or any other questions you may have. I'm taking him again for calc 2 (at 8 am!)

Professor Strowe is a very fine professor. He puts a lot of time and energy into making his lectures clear and interesting. If you need help, he'll help! His homework and tests are all straight forward. Put in the effort, and his class is very reasonable.

Best prof I've ever had! Lectures very clearly, writes neatly, gives relevant examples, grades fairly, tests on what he teaches (nothing tricky usually), and just the nicest person! I'm an alumni - and I'm at another university, but I miss him!!! He,unlike other math profs, is not arrogant,understood mostly everything he taught me in three classes!

i don't know what these people are saying...but prof. strowe is an AWESOME professor...if you have to take calc, take it w/ him! the tests are just like homework problems, very straightforward, so there's no surprises...and who cares what u get in math on the ACT...that math ISN'T CALCULUS

Well, you already know frm previous rating tht he is clear, well organized, blah blah, it's all true, he is amazing, except his time is early in the morning, but frankly he is the best Math prof. ever, after taking him, you'll be master in tht class, and calculator is not allowed for a reason, he wants you to learn, and you will. EASY A, DO HOMEWOR

This professor would be excellent for anyone going into math, engineering or physics. Since I was a history major, I just kind of ingored a lot of the side notes. He explained concepts well and could always explain in a different way if students did not understand. 4-100 pt. tests, a few 10 pt quizzes, 3-10 pt. labs.

Lectures are very helpful. He explains the material well and answers questions well. His tests are not the easiest, but he is the best math professor in the department.

Strowe really frustrated me at first because he always wanted an explanation for my work. Now, I really like him because I actually understand calc. I even kinda like it- and I NEVER thought I would say that. He was always willing to help and his lectures and tests were clear and straightforward.

One of the best professors I've ever had. The homework and tests are very straight forward. He even gave us a chance to redo it in order to boost our score. His lectures are very organized and helpful. He just wants students to learn some math, and he'll go out of his way to help, provided you're willing to work.

Best math professor I've ever had. Treats you like a real person, doesn't exepct you to just believe everything he says without proof. Very avaliable for help, doesn't grade homework, very straightforward tests. Gives pop quizes, but they are breezes. Great prof, he will help you understand calculus.

failed the class, but it was my fault for not doing hw.he's harsh at first, but appreciates you coming to ask for help and will do homework assignments with you. once he knows you care he's sympathetic.he's very smart and straight forward. explains things better when you ask questions. if he doesnt like you he's rude, so keep on his good side!

You have to keep up with the work and listen to what he is saying to understand the material... laugh at his "jokes"!

His tests are extremely hard even if you do the HW and know what you are doing. There is no curve and the average test scores in my class were around 55% even though i was above that. The labs require writeups which some dont require. Im sure there are easier professors out there so I would suggest taking them if you have the opportunity.

he is a good teacher, clearly explains things, open office hours (though nobody uses them) and he knows everything to know about math. if you ask him a question, he knows the answer no doubt. good teacher, but very hard class for some reason, our class average was like 55% on our tests. grades hard, WATCH OUT, few people really get As or Bs

Very Tough. He expects a lot from students. I think he expects you to eat, breath, and sleep math. He is harsh on grading. You have to show all your work or he'll mark off. He's very helpful on answering questions. Don't take him unless you are VERY confident in your math skills

Assignments were given every class and collected once a week, so you cant get away with missing class. Pace yourself, hw requires a lot of critical thinking, start early and take breaks. be sure to write down all of your steps. some assignments are easier than others, so do good when you can. after all the hw, the exams were a breeze.

i didn't find out until later, but you can actually redo homework as many times as you want. a very frustrating class, but not impossible. i got an A at the end when i thought i would get a B-, so take him. he's not bad at all, so the person who rated him 100x's, is just plain lazy and needs to drop out of school.

I am really surprised by the bad comments about this professor. I have finished a Master's degree in math, and in my undergrad years (not too long ago), he was by far the best professor I've ever had. I took him for everything. I have had so many profs for math since, and I can say still he was the best ever. I model my own teaching after him.

Strowe is a great guy. He is funny and knows a lot. He could work a little on teaching though but if you do the homework and pay attention in class you should be fine.

He's okay, knows his stuff. DO HW. If you do hw, listen in class, you'll do fine. He's exam are easy but I did bad 'cuz didn't do homework. So DOOOOOO HW and make sure you understand everything prior to exam. He is helpful, so ask for it Pay attention in class, some ques in exam from lec. People who don't like him are loosers, can be funny.

He is pretty difficult to understand, but has plenty of time to help you during office hours. Definately could work on simplifying some material. He sometimes rambles on towards really advanced stuff that has nothing related to what we're learning. But if you do the work it's not that bad.

Honestly this teacher is a great teacher. He is passionate about his subject and teaches it well. Had him for Calc 2 and most of the class is doing fine. All you have to do is some homework problems for every chapter and pay attention and its an easy A or B. Great guy and Great teacher

He is quiet and doesn't talk about family or off subject topics or make a lot of jokes-everything is math-related-so the class can be boring sometimes, but he LOVES math and he makes the material easy to understand, and he wants everyone to understand the material and do well in class. Study and do hw. He likes to give out surprise quizzes.

Strowe is incredible. He explains things very well and is very helpful. It's up to you to do hw though. I highly recommend him.

i found him rude and insulting. he's knows his stuff but if you didn't he would mock you in front of the class. not my favorite.

Very helpful. Tests are easy but if you don't keep up with the hw and ask questions it makes the tests harder. Went to his office hours often and found it very helpful. People that says he's a bad teacher is wrong. I was scared to take him bcuz of wat others said but I really liked this teacher.

Calc is a hard class, but this is a good professor. He gives clear, in-class notes for doing the homework. The homework is not checked or collected but it should be done because that is where he takes all his text questions from. Lot of pop quizzes, 5 or 10 points each.

Strowe is a wonderful professor. The material might seem dull, but he's incredibly fair and helpful. Also, it's a good idea to do homework and go to class; this will help you prepare for pop quizzes and exams.

Overall great professor! Gives alot of pop quizes but only choose 10 of your best which helps bring up your grade. If you have problems GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. He is great at pin pointing your weakness in math which is nice, since he would help you make it stronger,also willing to bargin if you really need to pass the class.DO HOMEWORK

Expects so much out of the class because it is an engineering course. He claims that he tries his best with helping us but his problem is helping us. He knows his stuff but cannot relay the information in an easy manner. Gives a lot of pop quizzes on the previous hw assgn. and takes questions after you fail the test. Avoid him

Professor Strowe is very helpful, his exams come straight from the homework and are generally basic questions. He never tries to trick you with impossible questions. Do the homework, watch out for pop quizzes on the previous night's HW assignment and you will do fine. Really wants students to succeed, and is willing to help anytime.

Very good professor. Make sure you do the homework! He is helpful and attentive if you ASK for help, willing to help during class and office hours. Great professor! Knows his stuff. Gives pop quizzes occasionally to make sure your on track.

Strowe is a very good professor. He really knows his stuff and works hard so that you do to. I took the class before at HFCC and failed it with an F. I took it with him and am getting a B, without doing crazy amounts of homework. Do the homework and the tests will be very easy. Random popquizes. No calculators (You really learn not to need them)

Professor Strowe has been my favorite professor so far. To begin he is very knowledgeable in what he teaches. He gives out 4 tests then the final. His tests are everything that he has taught in the class, if he has not taught it or given hw on it then you will not see it on the test. Answers all questions @office hours & in class. youll love him

He is the greatest teacher in the world. How on earth can people fail this class? All you have to do is show up and take notes, and copy 1 of his examples, and pay attention to the rest. Go over notes and examples a couple nights before the test, and guaranteed at least a B. I got a good grade without doing any homework.

The class was okay overall. I was able to do most of the proofs in the homework, but I'm not sure it'll transfer into actual proofs later on. He's willing to meet with students and give plenty of help, though. Examples given in class are usually of pretty good quality. There's only one section of the course per semester, so you may not get a choice

This professor is amazing! His explanations are clear, makes the subject fun and his tests are easy as long as you do the homework. People who hate him are the ones missing out on HW and do not pay any attention in class. There will be 4 exams and 1 final. There will be 2 quizzes every week, he will choose the best out of the 2. This class is easy!

Good teacher but very vague when it comes time to prepare for tests or quiz's

Great professor over all. May be boring at times but unless you find math fun, it will be boring regardless of who you take it with. I thought the class was fairly easy but it is considered to be a harder class than most others on campus.
