Within 5 minutes you like the guy, and after the first full class you want to be his friend. Certainly one of the best teachers in my college career! genuinely cares about his students, hes brilliant. his class RULES!!! MUST TAKE!
great teacher. great class. Learned a lot of useful information and enjoyed doing it.
sweetness. cool guy.
It's refreshing every now and again to see professors that brings current, real world experience to the table. He teaches you what you need to know and cuts out the fluff he also has you apply skills that will definitely propel you in the marketing world.
Amazing professor. Truly cares about students success... very involved with the class! and best of all teaches you real life world examples, as if you are in a training class for your career job. The best professor... would strongly recommend taking him!!
Great Class. Learned stuff that you will actually use/experience. All the positive comments are true. Great Guy and has lots of good real world experience.
Amazing professor! It was a way more interesting and easier class than I anticipated. He makes the material applicable to the real world. I would recommend him 100%
Great Professor, ACTUALLY has real world experience! Highly recommend. Attendance is required because there are quizzes every class but open note!
One of the best teachers!
Awesome Professor, I liked the way he taught the class, very interactive and with a fresh and modern style. There are quizzes on every class, but the are open notes and you can't get lower than 50%. There's a group project, not that hard, we used real world scenarios and the results were outstanding. There 2 test, more than half of the test is MC.
Really great teacher! Always willing to help! Like people said quizzes everclass but you could use notes! Test come straight from quizzes with 2 essay questions! Take him if you can! Really nice guy!
Genuinely interested in his students & their success. Expectations can be vague but don't hesitate to ask questions, he will clarify. Clearly loves what he does professionally and sharing his knowledge & experience. You'll walk away feeling you actually learned something without even trying.
Great teacher. Always enjoyed going to class. Tests are easy, they are based off the quizzes you take each class. Very nice teacher. Group project at end of semester. I would highly recommend you take from him.
Took him for Consumer Behavior and really enjoyed the class. He makes it interesting, more than happy to clarify if not explained well (which you will need when it comes to the group project). Enjoys teaching and the material and gets the class involved in the lectures. Know the material on the quizzes and you will do well on the tests.
Great teacher. The test are a direct reflection of the in class quizzes, which are straight from the power points and definitions. As long a you come to class you should do fine! Really enjoyed this teacher, and I can't say that about most!
Teacher was very straight-forward. Interesting lectures. 16 open-note, in-class quizzes. Drops the lowest three. 2 exams and one semester project. Go to class & pay attention = easy A or B :)
Professor Drew is an engaging and fun professor. He taught such interesting facts that I could tell my friends and even they found it interesting. "Never Ending Soup Bowl" I can't imagine a better Marketing Behavior professor.
All around awesome guy. Kept class very entertaining with his humor. Quiz everyday drops lowest 3. I would take him again. Stay with the class and feel free to ask any ?. Thoeni is very helpful. oh! and dont 2nd guess yourself on test/quiz ?'s he enjoys (ex: having 5 "d" answers in a row.) messed with my head. haha. "Male Taylor" out.
Awesome class! Really enjoyed this professor, made class fun with videos and moment of zen after lectures. I really took a lot away from this course, highly recommend! 2 tests which are straight forward, I project, quiz every class(open note)
Excellent class, highly recommend taking him. Very knowledgable in the subject. I took away more from this class than any other I have taken at UNF. I actually enjoyed going to this class. 16 open note quizzes, drops the three lowest, 2 exams and one group project. Excellent teaching methods!!!
I really enjoyed this class! The Professor is very laid back and gets right to the point and the "moments of zen" were always interesting!!
This guy has been my favorite teacher at UNF so far. I took him for Consumer Behavior and Marketing Research and he is a great teacher..I actually enjoyed going to class. You have 16 clicker quizzes, 4 tests, and a group project. He drops the lowest 2 quizzes to account for absences. TAKE HIM!
Thoeni is a great professor! You can tell he is really passionate about marketing. Took him for consumer behavior and research. Highly recommend! He makes the class extremely passable, but attendance is important!
Probably one of the best professors I have ever had the pleasure of taking. It's the most dynamic lecture at UNF. A quiz almost every class that consists of 10 questions, Use the back of the book for help. Social experiments, Amazing YouTube videos, and more. Exams consist of MC and Essay. Essays are easy, just know the main topics going into them.
Loved! I took him for CB in the spring and am looking forward to having in again in the fall. His lectures are entertaining and informative. Tests are easy. BEWARE OF THE GROUP PROJECT! You pick your own group so make sure it's good. His instructions are a little vague , as well as his answers to questions. He wants students to think for themselves
Dr. Thoeni is always there for you if you have a question about anything. He gives quizzes every class that come straight from the book. He posts the answers to the quizzes before the tests and the tests are comprised of the quiz questions. Group Project is the hardest thing to do in this class.
vast knowledge in the field of marketing. lectures were interesting and insightful. rarely bored in class. participation and showing up to class are important. prepares you well for tests. asks for brief explain of scenario on test. group project is the hardest most in depth part .. It shows you know the entire encompass of what was taught.
Wow, an intriguing and inspirational Prof! Shares and explains his craft in a way students can understand. Lectures are very exciting and interactive. A very talented marketing mind who cares that students do more than just show up. Absolutely take Dr. Thoeni for a class; he is a next level kind of academic.
Don't take him if you just want to knock off elective courses. It was not a good idea. You have to put in a lot of time and energy into the group project. However, you should really take him if your major is marketing. He is an excellent professor.
You will learn a lot from the lectures, have fun, and you won't want to miss a class
Do not take this Professor for an elective, or if Business is not your major. This Professor falls into the group of Professors that believe every student is a conventional student. He does not take into account that many students are "adult" learners with jobs, families, and many other responsibilities on their plate.
Lectures are super interesting. Quizzes at the beginning of every class (super easy and based off textbook, not notes, and is open notes) super easy A
Pretty fun class to learn more about marketing. Simple quizzes each class and more than half of the quiz questions are on the tests. Easy A or B
Great professor that has a good real world experience in the Marketing field so you will learn useful information from him. You will take a quiz on all textbook chapters and the quizzes are very detailed. Overall the class was enjoyable. The project in particular was fun and the lectures informing.
EASY A. Show up to class (NOT mandatory), take a quiz weekly on the material learned the class before (2 out of 16 dropped), 4 tests, one project, and he gave over 50 points of extra credit to the people who don't leave class immediately after the quizzes
Attendance isn't mandatory but MAN6616 was a small size class, so it's noticeable if you don't show. Online quizzes after every class, one individual project that spans the whole semester but extremely doable & teaches you a lot. Attendance & reading will help you on the tests more than the powerpoints!
The hardest part of this class is the amount of quiz's you must take, but 75% of the quiz's show up on the exam so it pays off. If I could do it again, I would have put more effort into preparation for the quiz's since it makes up such a large percentage of your grade. Overall, you couldn't ask for a better professor to teach you marketing.
Th Marketing research class is very interesting and useful. Although, it is a lot of work. 4 exams, online quizzes after each class, and a marketing research project. The project takes a lot of time, so try to do each task on time, NOT the last minute. Exams include multiple choice and open-ended questions.
Read the material before each class (daily quizzes over recent material); tests are based off of quizzes so realistically it is very reasonable to expect an A given moderate preparation and participation. The 'project' is broken up into 4 parts and each part counts like a regular assignment - very easy to get 100's on each part. Easy A overall.
LET ME MAKE THIS CLEAR, SHOW UP AND YOU CAN PASS! If you skip class or only show up for the quizzes it will be difficult unless you read the book. The professor keeps the class going from start to finish, not usually boring. Quizzes on each chapter usually follow the very next class period and he uses a "clicker". Didn't use the book, just slides
Great professor as a whole. Knows exactly what he is talking about and an engaging speaker. You have an open note quiz every class (he gives you a powerpoint with notes and you can also use the chapter to help you), no homework, posts powerpoint lectures online, gives you an exam review and loads of opportunities for extra credit. TAKE HIM!
SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT. His class is based on lectures in class. Take good notes and you will pass the quiz on that material at the start of the next class. People who do well stay and take notes on his powerpoints that are available online after, a class is skippable but skipping is not advisable.
He offers a ton of extra credit, which is really nice. You have quizzes almost every class, but he drops your two lowest quiz grades. 4 exams that are mostly based on the quizzes. One project that is broken up into parts, and he walks you through it
There is absolutely no way that you could get anything below a C in this class if you tried. He gives so much extra credit, and you are required to take weekly tests on Pearson. There are so many opportunities to do well in his class all you have to do is show up to class.
Enjoyed Thoeni's marketing class. Lectures are great and keep students involved with "Moment of Ethics". Provides a lot of useful information and does a great job of presenting the material in palatable way. Textbook (not required) and Pearson online integration (required) suck. Sit back and enjoy. 4 Exams, a multi part project, quizzes, and EC.
He is a very funny guy and his lectures are entertaining. He offers a lot of extra credit throughout the semester and drops the 2 Lowest quiz grades. There are 1-2 weekly quizzes online but they are easy. There is a project throughout the semester and it is very easy and is usually the second to last class before the test so it is a kind of review.
4 tests. 30/40 question all multiple choice. Weekly homework problems that will be on the tests. Lowest test grade I have got was an 84... and I studied maybe a few hours. Would definitely take him for MAR3023 or good luck with anyone else.
Amazing teacher and easy class. Just make sure you attend the lectures - extra credit is almost every lecture, and spend some time on slides and homework. This class is super easy and fun, you'll love it.
10/10 recommended. He gave about 250 points of extra credit. Super nice guy. Seriously if you fail youre the problem not him and college probably isnt for you. Minimal effort and you can get a B
He gives lots of extra credit throughout the semester just for showing up to class. No textbook needed but you do have to buy the online homework code. The lectures can be kinda boring but he tries to spice it up with memes and jokes. Not a hard class, but if you skip a ton of classes you'll get lost.
Great Professor. Very knowledgable. Lots of material to cover. STUDY for the exams; They are difficult. I felt like I new the material and got a 78 on the first exam. He has a Quizlet page for vocab. Exam material found in online homework. Don't make the mistake of ONLY studying from his exam review slides.
Professor Thoeni gives very interesting lectures, he tries to make them interactive. While he moves quickly in class, there is just so much material that you have to read the book in order to do very well on the tests. He doesn't track attendance but he does a ton of extra credit for those who are in class certain days. Graded by many things.
He is a very knowledgable professor but he is a very tough grader on the project assignments. The class consists of many time-consuming project submissions and 4 exams. I would say avoid this professor and class because it is not an easy marketing elective class. AVOID AVIOD AVOID!
Not a great teacher. He covers the main topics of each chapter in class then he expects us to learn every little detail in the chapter because it will be on the exam even though he didn't go over it. Pretty cool guy, just not a good teacher.
4 exams, 50 multiple choice. 4 project steps that you do in class, pretty easy if you know the concepts. Gives SO much extra credit (total 235 points, must be in class to get). Very interactive lectures, is very knowledgable on the subject. Goes through one chapter each class, I would recommend reading the book to understand smaller concepts.
This professor relies heavily on his egotistic knowledge of marketing. His lectures are long and his attitude is not appealing. He refuses to round up even if youre right on the verge of a better grade. Exams are based on lectures but have questions you have never heard of. This class isnt bad, but dont expect someone who cares about you.
Professor Thoeni is a funny guy that likes to talk. A Lot. His class is very fast paced. Every class is a new chapter in the book and he will give extra credit sporadically. You will need this extra credit to boost your grade because he is a tough grader. The tests are very difficult if you dont read the book or do the assignments.
He will be the professor I will remember when I think about the very best parts of college. I looked forward to every single lecture. He keeps your attention and is passionate about marketing. You can tell he loves his field, and wants you to love it as well. He gives plenty of extra credit. Don't miss your chance to take his class!
Professor Thoeni is really nice and his lectures arent boring. He has test reviews the class before but I dont think they were very helpful. Test questions are picked randomly from the textbook but he offers lots of extra credit so go to class!
Professor Thoeni is probably my favorite professor I've taken thus far. Workload is the right amount - not too much to where you get stressed (I took 3 other classes). Gives a good amount of extra credit (at least 1 per exam) and is very organized in terms of what to do for the class. MyLab does need to be purchased in order to do assignments.
Best professor I have every had. The textbook was long but interesting . Even had some funny moments. The lectures were short and knowledgable. He has a great sense of humor. He gives you all the resources you need to pass. As long as you do the work you will do well. Plus lots of extra credit oppurtunitys. A MUST take.
Thoeni is a solid professor. You will actually learn about marketing in his class. He is big on class participation and will choose on you at random. It makes the class fun. There is a lot of online homework which is super easy. If you show up, do all homework, and make C's on the Test. You will get a B.
If you did and understood the work you would get good grades on the tests. There's a good amount of extra credit to and homework to round up grade. Always helped if you had any questions.
Dr. Thoeni is an experienced professor who makes sure to give students all of the information they need to succeed. I'm just over a month into his class and it's clear that he's willing to work with students to ensure their success.
Professor Thoeni was amazing and super helpful with everything. He made class fun and interesting and provided many resources to help with the chapters in the class. As long as you complete the homework and study for the tests, you'll be fine. You will enjoy his class and he explains the material in depth. Best class and professor I've taken so far
Prof Thoeni managed to get me interested in my major. His lectures are entertaining and really help you grasp tougher concepts. He may be one of the best professors I have ever had.
Professor Thoeni isn't a bad Professor, but his test design is challenging. Questions on his tests are random, so anything could be on his tests, and the questions go off the textbook. There's plenty of extra credit, so take advantage of it. The class wasn't interesting to me, but that comes down to the fact that marketing isn't my field of study.
He clearly communicated what was expected, and offered extra credit during almost every chapter. Most chapters consisted of just 2 homework assignments which was nice. He also provided quizlets for each chapter! Being an all online class, he was kind enough to do live zoom calls before each exam we had and go over key points and questions.
Very nice teacher really knows his stuff. Give plenty of extra credit. Good amount of really easy homework that just helps with your grade basically. Totally would recommend taking this class with him just dont cheat in his class he takes that seriously. Tests are proctored but theyre easy especially if you use the flash cards he makes for you.
Dr. Thoeni is straight-up awesome. I highly recommend taking his course. His lectures are very interactive, and extremely educational. His tests line up with his lectures, and I cannot emphasize enough how much I have enjoyed his class. Lots of real-life application in what he teaches, and he makes showing up to lecture everyday enjoyable.
Professor Thoeni is one of the best. His lectures are interesting to listen to, the course work isn't that difficult and overall he is just a good guy. Would recommend to anyone who is taking Principles of Marketing at UNF.
the exams are simple if you showed up to the lectures, no surprises and content is easy. scared of the openended initially but he graded them fairly. The projects are tough, sometimes it is hard to know what he wants but its as real as real life experience can get. Frustrating to lose points over anything but you will learn useful things. great guy
This class really inspired me to fall more in love with marketing. Prof Thoeni is a respectful and caring person. His lectures were based on slides posted on Canvas, but it was very interesting to attend class and hear him expand more beyond the slides. Extra credit opp. were opinionated and not a wrong vs right answers. 10/10 would def take again
The course was out of 10,000 points or, as Professor Thoeni says, "marketing dollars." There were 8 opportunities for extra credit (25pts/ea) total of 200 points. The "sidebar" video quizzes were short videos based on interesting topics and related topics to the real world. 4 Tests, 1250 pts/ea, proctored through HonorLock.
Truly a great professor, really nice man and easy course
He's a marketer and a showman, his class and lectures are like mini ted talks and are actually entertaining to go to. But he teaches well, makes you listen and want to, and keeps everyone engaged. A few assignments a week and a test every so often but pay attention and put in maybe a few hours of legit studying and you'll walk out with an A.
Passionate professor for marketing. Extended himself beyond his duties as a professor to answer any questions you have about marketing and how you can apply it in life. Would definitely take more classes.
Mind numbingly easy. His lectures are cool but missing class isn't a big deal since he just reads his slides which come from the book. If you read the book and do his quizlets you could show up to exam day and EASILY pass and even get a low A.
Great teacher! Hands down best interactive class a lot of material. I did pretty average on exams but the real-life simulation was one of the greatest experience that I had. Just did a couple hours of reading a week and still passed. The simulation was my favorite thing to do, I enjoy taking decisions in the company and try to attract the market.
Overall great professor. Sparked my interest in marketing with engaging lectures and worthwhile homework.
Not a bad class but he makes great power points and has a quizlet with all of the key terms!!! Study quizlet and power points and you're literally set for this class. There are simulations where you have a business and instruct it, pretty fun grade. Good guy and professor who actually cares about his students.
Super cool professor, he makes the course ver easy and fun to learn. He has a good humor. Course is pretty basic and easy, exams are not too hard and not too easy. I like the stimulation game he does, makes us apply the marketing strategies we are going through the course. Super nice professor. 10/10
Overall easy class and fun sidebars. The simulations that he has are kinda difficult to comprehend at first and kind of hard to get a good grade within the simulations.
Not the best. Did not have a good experience like the comment below me stated. The sim every week brought my grade down and I stayed consist and did every assignment. Although he does not help with the sim the test is where I had to teach myself. Just be aware the sim is a stupid video game and can ruin your grade fast!
Probably my favorite professor by far. Inspired me to switch into the school of Business from computing, due to how interesting he made the topics of the class seem. Allowed me to gain a better insight of the business world. Pretty straightforward grades, will be an Easy A if you put in study time for the tests
Go to all the lectures you can, it isn't necessary but 100% suggest going. Amazing class.
Professor Thoeni was a good professor who made instructions clear. Weekly, his online course has a few 2-4 minute videos you watch and have a couple questions for credit. The simulation has easy short answer questions each week. The rest of the simulation is sort of like RimWorld or Civilization V management. The textbook can be found online.
ISM 6404 -- Applications of Business Analytics He says: "This is the hardest class of your degree and possibly your life" which is an understatement. There are 4 modules building linearly through the class. Each project takes 2-3 wks to finish if you want to do well. The class is intense but you will be job ready afterwards. Do not tread lightly!
Professor Thoeni is a great Professor. His lectures are fantastic and are really engaging. He will call out students in class, so make sure you pay attention and are engaged. Relatively easy class if you show up and do the work. Learn lots of interesting and useful information.
One of the best professors I have ever taken. Very knowledgeable and is able to explain complex ideas simply. By no means an easy class but if you put in the work it is worth it. If you stumble on an assignment, it wont kill your grade and his feedback will help you for the next assignment. Lectures were very energetic.
This professor was amazing! His videos are short and easy to watch. He tells you what materials to study and what will be on the exam. I watched all of the videos and made a quizlet for the vocab we needed to know and I got a good grade.
If you can take Professor Andrew Thoeni, please do yourself a favor and do it! the lectures are engaging and make them interactive with "Moments of Ethics" as a warm-up every day where you could be randomly called on. Overall, the material of this class is easy and he makes it easy as well because of his way of instruction.
This was the best class I've taken at UNF by far. He is very generous with offering extra credit every week and was one of the most engaging online classes I've ever taken. I actually enjoyed doing the assignments and was inspired by this class. I don't normally rate professors but I thought Professor Thoeni and this class deserved it.
4 proctored exams. SIM & short videos w/1-3 questions due weekly. Lots of EC. Lectures recorded and interesting to watch. I feel like I learned a lot from this class and may even decide to pick up a minor in marketing.
This class is so worth it. He was an amazing professor and just professional overall.
Not a bad class and not a bad professor. He can be sarcastic and come off kind of rude but not so bad to where it's dreadful. The exams can be difficult, you don't HAVE to buy the textbook but if you want to get good grades on the exams I would buy it. Do good on the SIM and submit the quizlets and you should be good.
The simulation will boost your grade even if you fail every test. I would reccomend him and his teaching style over anyone else. Take this guy, hes so cool
I took Dr Thoeni's online marketing class and it was a breeze. I was a bit intimidated at first because he has in his syllabus that only a small percentage will pass his class with a B+, but when reading the required work and doing the quizlets he's kindly created, I never got less than a B on the exams. He's quirky in his videos and I'd recommend!
This was a very fun and enjoyable class! 50% of the class grade is based on four exams. The simulation throughout the semester was entertaining and a good way to understand the concepts in the textbook. Attendance to lectures is not mandatory but his lectures are extremely helpful!
The definition of what a professor should be. His lectures are top notch and he is very passionate about his craft. There are 4 exams, relatively hard but if you study you should get a B on them. 20 percent of the grade is doing quizlets and practice tests so thats an easy 20. Exams are 50 percent and sim is 30. Lots of Extra Credit if you attend
Needs: Quizlet and the Hubro sim. Those are the main grades for this class. This is an easy A if you do everything by the end of the week.
Exams were difficult and there's no reason a marketing exam should be difficult to get an A on, yet a very small percentage did (the avg score of them were Cs!). I got an A in the class, but it was solely due to EC + other assignments. He tells you to study the quizlets, slides, and book, but they didn't seem to align with the test questions a ton.
If you get a chance, take his class! Professor Thoeni provides so many resources to make sure you understand what you are learning and makes the class very enjoyable. He also provides many extra credit opportunities along the way and gives great feedback.
Professor Theoni is amazing! I loved listening to his lectures. He is so interesting, and I would recommend talking to him outside of class. He is funny and his lectures are easy to follow along with. He provides note taking templates to make note taking easier for students. He was definitely my favorite teacher for my first semester.
Professor Theoni is amazing! He is so interesting to talk to, and his lectures are fascinating. He is a really funny professor, and I enjoy the way he sets up his class. He provides note taking templates for students which makes taking notes so much easier. There are also extra credit opportunities. He was my favorite teacher for my first semester.
The marketing exams were challenging, but staying on top of the quizlets, slides, and sim helped me secure a solid grade. unstuckstudy was a game-changer for my study prep.
Do not take this class! Holy moly. He is a nice professor and the work load is fairly easy but the TESTS are worth EVERYTHING! Assignments: 200pts TESTS: 1,250pts! Like What?! I'm a horrible test taker but this is ridiculous.
The only class was actually really good when it came to understanding marketing and everything that goes into it, very cool professor to talk to, highly recommend for all marketing
One of the best professors I've ever had! Not too much homework but the perfect amount to help you understand. I loved the simulation game it helped me learn a lot. Very funny and caring! Can't recommend enough!!
Dr. Theoni is one of the best professors I have had in my college experience so far. The class is designed exceptionally well and you never feel like your drowning in work. Dr. Theoni genuinely wants to see you succeed. I would 100% take another class with him if I had the chance.
Makes class very engaging. Really great lectures even with such huge classes. Tests are relatively easy as long as you study and comeplete the practice tests. This was my first Marketing related class, and I loved it.
I had Professor Thoeni in the Spring of '25. I took Principles of Marketing and absolutely loved it. I won't spoil any content but he made it easy to want to go to class everyday. He definitely has expectations for his students, which I appreciated. Additionally, he cares about the curriculum, the students, and making material easy accessible.
Andrew is the best professor I've had at UNF. He has great engaging content and lectures that prepare you for the test. Just study a decent amount & you'll get a high B on the test and an A in the class if you do the work. He will definitely be a professor that I remember and reach out to if I have any career questions. Thank you Professor Thoeni!
Offers a lot of extra credit. have fun doing the simulation and review all the powerpoint slides before the exam.
Dr. Thoeni is an amazing professor. You don't need to show up to class, but he does offer tons of extra credit in his lectures. Overall, exams are not too bad if you study the vocabulary and go over the textbook and lecture slides. Very chill, laid back guy. His lectures are very engaging. I would take him again if I could.
