I've had Dr.Thomas for 2 lectures and 2 labs. I can't imagine having anyone else and enjoying it as much. He knows the material isn't the best but he does everything possible to help his students out. He is always enthusiastic and willing to help.

Thomas is a very good professor that is always willing to help. He is very nice and curteous. Thomas knows his material very well and has interesting lectures. Chemistry will never be the same! I would greatly reccommend this professor!

Dr. Thomas is great. I had two semesters with him, and at first I thought I wouldn't like him. Now, he is my favorite professor ever! He thinks he is so funny which is even funnier! He doesn't feel sorry for people who are lazy with their work though!

Dr. Thomas was great! This was my 2nd time taking chemistry because it didn't transfer from my previous college and he explained everything in a lot more detail. He was a great help and doesn't keep you over class b/c he hates to stay late. You'll also find his grading to be extremely fair.

Great Teacher!!!! But you will come to love and hate his evil grin. He will ask a question and leave you gessing and flip-flopping for a while before coming to your rescue

Dr. Thomas is by far the best chemistry teacher here a GSC. His very smart and he is very, very helpful. This is my first time taking chemistry since I graduated high school in 1993, but Dr. Thomas was very patient and very clear on what he expected you to know. Do all the webassign and the practice sheets and you will get an A. Get him 4 lab also.

Very good teacher! He really takes the time, and tries to help everyone understand the material. Tests were challenging, but directly related to material covered in class. Remember to keep up with WebAssign, and study all the formulas, and you'll be fine. Possibly the best Chem teacher at Gainesville!!

Wonderful, wonderful teacher. I had him over the summer when the material went very, very fast. But he helped me through the whole thing. He takes time out to help you and his test come straight from the notes. And he's sooo cute too! I hate Chemistry and I got an A. (With a little work of course). Best prof at GSC. TAKE HIM!

Absolutely the coolest professor here at GSC. He is so smart and you can tell he has a love for chemistry because his eyes light up when he talks about it. He is fair, he's willing to help you and wants you to asks questions because he wants you to learn. TAKE HIM! And also he is a REAL HOTTIE! He has the cuttest dimples you have ever seen.

Don' talk too much in his class because it will turn around and bite you in the butt. He is a wonderful professor and is willing to help you in any way t6hat he can. He wants you to learn the material and he has an awesome and fair grading system. YES WE DID LERAN A LOT IN HIS CLASS FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO THINK THAT NOLIBOS IS BETTER!!!!!!!!

Dr. Thomas is a wonderful teacher. He knows what he is talking about and even tries to have jokes every once in a while, although sometimes they are not to good. He is a very laid back person and fun to have as a teacher. I would not have taken him two semesters if he wasn't a good teacher!

This is one cool dude, he will help tou every step of the way. That doesn 't mean you don't have to put some work in this class, but he is probobly the best teacher I have ever had for any subject.

Awesome prof! He explains things very clearly, and will take time outside of class to help anybody. I almost failed chem in HS, but I got an A in his class. You can't skip class if you want a good grade, though. He is really cute, though! It was one of my favorite classes, and not just for the content. ;-)

The best chemistry prof at GSC. He makes chemistry as easy as possible. He grades his tests very fairly, and will give partial credit if you do the work correctly but get the wrong answer.

He is the absolute best professor EVER! You can tell that he really loves to teach and does so incredibly well. He likes to joke around a lot with students, which makes us feel a lot more relaxed and more willing to learn, but knows when to be serious, too. Get him as your prof if at ALL possible!!!

dr thomas is awesome! his lectures are fun and he makes chemistry easier. you have to study hard outside of class read the book, and keep up with that webassign. he is always around campus to help, and always answers emails. oh and ladies, he's not too bad to look at. seriously, he is a great teacher I got a B in his class and an A in lab.

If you have to take a Chemistry class, take Dr Thomas. He is great. I took this class just to brush up on my Chem before I went into 1211 and he made a class that didn't matter to me awesome.

The best professor ever. I took AP chemistry in high school and almost failed it. I got to Dr. Thomas' class and I understand everything that he teaches. Too bad he doesn't teach 1212 :( I would recommend his to anyone. Love his class; it's actually my favorite one this semester.

GREAT PROFESSOR EVER!!! His lectures are so clear and understanging. The test is basically off the notes. You only have to read the book to keep up an journal, but I did not think it was that neccesary. Always willing to help out with any problems you have. He really goes out of his way to help his students even if you are no longer taking his class. He never makes you feel stupid no matter how slow you are at taking tests or how little knowledge you have of the subject. He does expect you to know the shizzle on tests and doesn't curve, but he's better then the alternatives! Believe me!

You can't make Chemistry great; its too daunting. If, however, you must take Chemistry, Dr. T is the best professor at GSC. He doesn't drop your lowest test grade, but he's fair, and his students outperform other professors'. If you dedicate yourself, then you'll find Dr. T a big help.

Dr. Thomas is young and enthusiastic, just not about basic chemistry. Throw him a volleyball, maybe his class becomes a priority. Like the rest of the Chem profs not at all interested in teaching chem to ppl who don't wanna be chemists. Was just a class, not a superfun amusement park of chemical fantasticalness like these other jokers wrote.

Funny, fair, and inspired. Clearly enjoys chemistry. He's very smart and doesn't try to dumb down the difficult parts, but doesn't try to make students feel stupid, either. Gives good, brisk lectures and isn't averse to showing some funny chemistry-related YouTube videos in class. You could do much worse than Dr. Thomas for a chemistry class.

Super cool guy, loves to have fun, and great at what he teaches. He can't help his particular subject is boring, but he does the best he can to help you learn it. I'm taking him right now over the summer, and he's REALLY tough, there's no doubting that, but i've heard there's a lot worse out there so i'm thankful for him. And he's got great hair!

Dr. T was amazing! He is a really nice guy and will help you anyway possible. I took him for 1151 and 1152 in the summer, and did just fine! you do have to study but it's definitely doable! Loved him!

He is one of the best teachers. Makes chemistry interesting and fun. Web assigns easy yet difficult depending on the content. Offers time to students. He has a joker's wit. The relationship between the other chem professors is a wonderful bond.

I hate chem but I don't think I could have gotten a better teacher to listen to my frustrations without making me feel completely stupid. Study your Webassns and get them done as soon as you can to avoid stress. Use them to study for tests. Ask Dr. T to go over ANYTHING you don't understand bc it will be on the test. Stay on top of this class!

Lab is awesome! I use to dread chem lab, but not with Dr. Thomas. He is very smart, witty, and helpful. He explains the experiments clearly and will answer any questions you may have. Chemistry is not a cakewalk, but when you have teachers like him & Nolibos, it makes learning the material much less stressful.

GREAT professor!

Greatest guy you will ever meet. More importantly, THE best teacher you will ever have. He could teach chemistry to a child. Now, you HAVE to do your webassigns and you MUST attend class. But he makes this stuff so fun you wouldn't want to miss his class anyway. He's not easy, but he can certainly make it easy to understand.

This guy is outrageous! (good way) He is a must take for chemistry absolutely. Nothing bad to say about him. He makes the material crystal clear, is very personable, and will absolutely help you. Though he will help you through the course, you will still need to put a lot of work into the class.

I had Dr. Thomas for both of my Gen Chem classes (1111 & 1112) and the corresponding labs. He is a wonderful teacher, who will do his best to make sure you understand things. He wants the class to be difficult but will stay after class and meet with you in his office at almost any time of the day. The only down side is he spoils you into expecting greatness from teachers. Ever since having Dr. Thomas I just haven't had a professor that compared to him. He actually cares and if you can, take him!

Great professor!!! Extremely helpful, and prepares you very well for the tests. Explains everything wonderfully. He's also really fun and cool to be around! Loved going to his class.

Attendance is not graded, but he makes class interesting and a lot of information is taught so you don't want to miss. He curves mosts tests. He is always willing to help if you don't understand something, just speak up. He makes silly jokes and laughs at himself. I only opened my book to look at the periodic table but i'm a great note taker.

He goes a little fast sometimes, but he tones it down. He's very funny & explains things multiple times & he's willing to help you if you ask :)

I took him for both Chem 1151 and 1152 in the split session. Doing so requires a lot of dedication! How "easy " you find the class is based on how you learn . 1151 is more math based and 1152 is organic content based. Either way you need to put in a lot of time and effort. Good thing is he is willing to help you if you make yourself available

Dr. Thomas is great. Although there are things you have to do by yourself (read the book), I honestly wanted to go to his lecture. He has a great personality and is very helpful. I would stop by his office and he would always drop what he is doing inorder to help you. Hard class but if you apply your self, like I did You will make an A.

The class was not difficult for me, but I have always liked chemistry (not my major). Some student might find this class a bit challenging, but Dr. Thomas is always there to help. He takes time during class to answer questions. Tests are not difficult.

Dr. Thomas is a wonderful professor. He will always explain the lab before going to it, outlining all the basic procedures. Just pay attention, and the labs will always be simple. He collects the completed labs at various times to grade. It is usual to wait a few weeks to get a lab back. You will like this class, it is very fun,

Dr. Thomas is one of my favorite teachers ever! He is hilarious. He can speed through a lecture, but if you ask him for help or to slow down he doesn't hesitate to do so. You can't skip class because you will miss a lot of information. His tests can be difficult, but overall he is awesome!

Thomas is amazing! He is super witty & makes learning chemistry involving. If you take him for 1212 be prepared to hear him sing "Ice Ice Baby" all the time while doing those Ice Tables. He expects a lot of his students, so if you don't study come to class don't expect to pass. He is more than willing to work with you!! Also, he doesn't give A's.

ABSOLUTELY TAKE THOMAS. He is incredible! I love chemistry now because of him. It is a tough class, but he does everything he can to help you actually understand the material. You're going to have to study if you want to pass this class, but it's like that with any chemistry class. 100 gold stars for Thomas. I'll be taking him again for 1212!

Dr. Thomas is FANTASTIC! After struggling with the subject so many times before, taking this class was just an overall refreshing experience. He actually cared about the subject and took the time to teach you and help you understand. Because of him, I was able to gain some confidence back. If you do the work in his class, it WILL pay off!

Chemistry is not easy so regardless of the teacher you need to come to class, read, and study. Dr. Thomas is a super cool, smart guy, has a great sense of humor, and doesn't take himself too seriously. He's really fair, his tests are not easy but he prepares you well for them, SAD he's not teaching 1212!

Very good professor who cares about his students. Has a very bubbly personality and likes to make sarcastic jokes sometimes. He explains things very well, and is willing to help you in any way possible.

Really good at explaining things. Don't need the textbook, but the online access code for homework. Four test, a final, but no projects. Test aren't that hard but defiantly need to study for them to do well. Some pop quizzes but if you take notes and follow along in class you should be fine.

I had to take this class during the summer because I had failed it the first time with a D. Dr. Thomas absolutely turned that around and now I have a clear understanding of the concepts in this course. I strongly suggest taking his class! It isn't necessarily easy but he makes it so much fun! Not hating your summer class says a lot about the prof!

Literally the only professor I would trust with my life in that campus. He is the best plain and simple. Made the class fun and engaging and actually wanted you to learn the material. Stress free environment and would work with you to help your grade. I just wish he taught 1152 so I could take him again.

Not going to lie, this class is hard and Dr. Thomas tries to trick you on tests. However, he is a great teacher and makes class entertaining. If you pay attention to his lectures and do all the practice worksheets, you should do good. It was one of my favorite classes thus far and I would take him again if I needed to take another chem class.

I took Dr. Thomas as a sort-of course audit, not for credit. That being said, I learned so much more from Dr. Thomas than I learned when I took 1212 for credit a year ago with a different professor. He is accessible, knows what he is talking about, and really cares about the success of his students. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask him.

Dr. Thomas was a great professor. Gen Chem II is not an easy class, but he did a great job simplifying complex ideas. He gives you everything you need to be successful, you just have to make sure to not get behind. He's always accessible outside of class and willing to do whatever to make sure you do well.

The best professor I've ever had! Attendance isn't mandatory, but you don't ever want to miss his class because he takes complex concepts and makes them so simple. All of his classes fill up fast for a reason, he is arguably one of the best professors at UNG. He makes hard material easy to understand and wants to see everyone succeed. He also encourages struggling students to get extra help during his office hours. Keep up with the MasteringChem HW, it helps. If you ever have the opportunity to take him, DO!

Good teaching style. He makes the class lecture interesting and fun for us. Makes sure we understand the subject and goes over tons of examples. Mainly graded by only 4 tests, short quizzes and online homework every few days. Tests are pretty hard if you don't know how to study very well.

He is super funny and makes chem actually enjoyable. His lectures are very thorough yet understandable. He cares about all his students and wants to make sure they succeed. Would definitely take him again

Dr Thomas is hands down one of the best professors I have ever had. He truly cares about his students and makes lectures enjoyable with his humor. I have never had more fun in lectures than with Dr Thomas. That being said, he is also very good at explaining concepts that in a way that makes them easy to understand. Amazing Professor.

His power points are comprehensible, and he does a good job of explaining the things he wants you to know. Also, it is easy to approach him for questions. He encourages questions to be asked when there is an area that is not explained well. He is a funny professor if your looking for a professor that does not bore you.

Easily one of the best professors i have ever had. I am not a science person, yet he made Chemistry so fun and understandable. He has great ways of explaining tough concepts, knows what he's doing, and has been teaching for years so he knows where students get stuck and have trouble. He wants you to succeed and is very approachable (also hilarious)

Dr. Thomas is a nice guy, but he really could work on replying to emails. Course-wise it is test heavy. The best way to prepare for those is to go to class. His lectures make the content very simple, but to do well you still would need to review it yourself given COVID. Good luck, do not slack off, and ask plenty of questions!

(i took this class as a short session so it moved a lot faster than a full semester) but this prof is really good at explaining difficult concepts and is almost always willing to re contextualize or explain concepts. this class also has lots of math, but none of it is too complicated

I had Dr. Thomas for 1211 and 1212 ans he is one of the best professors I've ever had!! Chemistry is a pretty difficult subject and because there's so much to learn, the class moves pretty fast. However, he's super helpful outside of class and will spend as much time with you as you need to make sure you pass!!!

Quizzes, mastering chemistry, lecture check, 4 test and the final !!! Study and you would get a good grade

Absolutely ZERO complaints about Dr T! His lectures are hilarious and thrive off of student participation. He'll stay after class, offer meeting hours and study sessions before each test. Your effort in his class is what he values most and he'll randomly give out pop quizzes so don't miss lectures. He's always smiling and makes class really fun!!!

Dr. Thomas is THE best chemistry professor in the entire UNG Chemistry department. I took him for a short session in Summer 2022, and I genuinely enjoyed the class throughout the entire five week period. I would take every class if Dr. T if I could, but he unfortunately does not teach organic :( Wonderful professor and great person! Take him!!!!!

This professors way of teaching is incredible, really nice person to get along with. He makes class time go by great and his tests are mostly what we go over, studying and understanding is neccesary to do good.

I didn't take him for long because I ended up withdrawing since this course wasn't required for my major, but he was a very good professor. He was understanding when I had trouble with assessments and was a very easy person to talk to. MAKE SURE TO STUDY.. this class requires you to study a lot on your own time. He gives a lot of extra credit too.

Amazing in lab but with lecture we tend to behind a couple topics so we rush towards the end. You will have a lot of quizzes bc "youre not going to learn if i dont give you a quiz." Homework isn't very hard you read and do the equations. As for the test just study the presentations, past quizzes, and do the optional worksheets in D2L.

I took this class during Maymester (5 weeks). It was a ton of work, but it was mostly due to the accelerated timeline. You have to work at the class, however- particularly if your main job is school (no kids, no full time job, etc) it is very doable. We had a lot of fun despite the material being not my favorite.

I don't see the 1211L option, but he was my professor for 1211L, and it was amazing! He's funny and thorough in explaining labs. For an easy A+, he's the one. He plays music during labs, making it a great experience. He's happy to help and gives fair grades, even if you mess up, as long as you try.

His Tests are hard compared to the rest of the Chemistry department. I found Pham's physics easier than his class. He was amazing in Lab but tends to fall 3 chapters behind the rest of the chemistry dept, However, he is passionate and truly cares about you. If you are a chem major this guy is one of the goats(2nd to Dr.Rosy). Would take again.

Dr. Thomas is a great professor, He is down-to-earth and is very supportive of his students. He explains the content clearly and makes sure the students understand. You will need to put in effort but it is not an overly hard class, and receiving a good grade isn't too difficult.

Dr. Thomas is the best chemistry professor that you can have. He understands the content very well and is able to explain it in layman's terms. Lectures are amazing and explain most of the information that you need for the tests. As with most chemistry classes, the grade weighting is very test heavy (80% of grade). Can't wait to take 1212 with him!

Wonderful professor who makes lectures informative and interesting. There is plenty of assigned homework to help you understand the material. I believe tests make up 80% of your grade however so keep that in mind. I absolutely would take his class again if i had to.

Dr. Thomas manages to make his lectures both entertaining and informative. He curves pretty much everything, so don't worry if he doesn't put grades in quickly. Some of the tests are challenging, so use the resources in D2L. Final exam is curved heavily, but you should definitely still study. Really funny, and an absolutely amazing professor.

Sets a good standard of what a professor should be. He makes chemistry seem easy because of how he explains it using real-life examples. He's also very nice and he makes funny jokes. He's pretty lenient, and the assignments aren't too hard or require a lot of work. I actually look forward to this class

Best professor ever! Chem1212 is way harder than 1211. Exams are long and difficult. He uses mastering chem for homework, and there are short quizzes after every chapter, but he makes it fun and doable. I now love chem thanks to his class!

I hate chem but he made it manageable. He is a great professor. He actively wants to get to know each and every one of his students. He also has every single lecture recorded so you can watch them whenever. During labs he also played music and was always super chill to talk to. He is great, take him if you can.
