Simply put, Dr Walzer is a great professor and a real nice guy. His sarcastic wit makes class fun. Definitely recommend him. :-)
Prof Walzer is a character and a half, very cool. He's a very engaging person and I enjoyed being in his class. I didn't like all the group activities because I didn't feel as though the people in my group were focused. Besides that, though - this was an easy class that would give anyone a lot to think about. :)
I learn about people, religions around the world I was lost before but now I found Judaism by researching even though I am asian. This guy is cool he make the humanities exciting and helps you understand the course with participation. To stop the hate you must tolerate.
Very liberal, easy going guy. He makes learning fun. He engages the class through groups discussions, videos and music. If you read the material and show up for class, you will do well.
Women’s Studies… we sit in circles like a meeting of AA. Each week is a new discussion on life, stereotypes and misconceptions of women’s greatness. This class is easy if you participate. So far everyone seems to enjoy the class; we read some pages from the assigned chapter and write an essay on it. Each week a new one is due. Its not as hard as it sounds. Professor Waltzer is triple F. flamboyant, fun and funny. If you have to take a humanities class take one of his, you won’t be disappointed.
WOMENS STUDIES RULES!!
I recommend this class for everyone. Everyone participates in a group, or in a circle. You read the assignment then discuss it - was it moral, wrong, religious or what? Great class Dr. Walzer is great, makes you talk to everybody.
this teacher is awsome! his class was overall very easy and you actually improve your life after taking it. Thanks for a great semester Mr.Walzer!
The class is fun as well as easy. He is not a bad teacher, but he definitely seems quite biased and very stereotypical in some of his views, which is fine for the mainstream mind but not for a thoughtful, ask questions sort of guy. Make sense? In some ways his opinion is the right one and there is nothing more to say.
great class...im talking it now. So muchn fun, so easy, and so interesting. Hes a great guy, there are a few assignments but mostly group work. Great class, you all should take it!
He should be a high school teacher, he is the most condescending, unstimulating, teacher I’ve ever had.
REALLY ENJOYED HIS CLASS. HE IS A VERY GOOD TEACHER. HIS TEACHING IS DIFFERENT AND EFFECTIVE I AM TAKING HIM AGAIN
Granted, this is a very easy class to get an A in, but he's a ****. He grading is so messed up, depeneds on how his relationship is with you and what his mood is. But still very easy class, and somewhat interesting when you start getting involved in class disc.
I thought he was incredibly cool but he does not take any bs! meaning if you are five minutes late he will give you a dirty look! But he is an incredible teacher and there are lots of essays! But definitely worth taking! He keeps you active and alive in a very long class, buts its worth it! Cool guy!
we have to talk about stupid gender garbage everyday, dumbass essays, and nonsense presentations. Dont take this class, its a waste of time because u wont learn****. Eventhough its suppose to be easy.
WOw, a bad comment about Andrew. That person must have been the biggest****in the world. You cant find an easier and more interesting class in LACC then Andrew's humanities class. The essays are alot but they are short. Just discuss your opinion about the readings. If u get all Bs on the papers and participate u get an A in the class.
walzer rules! He is the best teacher in lacc obviously. Just show up and never be late. Easy A.
Andrew is like a god's gift to our soceity. You wait a whole week just to et to the class faster because all the worries during the week will right away be gone when u come and join his class or maybe even continue in the future
great professor, presentations were fun, no test, pretty much it was always a class discussion about essay we read...just a fun class to be apart of....
I say that this class is ok its not that bad but its not that good either....He always talked about his own agenda! Gender issue, gender issue, gender issue!
very very easy if you show up and do the work...a new ring of misery if you happen to want to be challenged! he would make a stunning high school teacher but i would not take this if you are hoping the class will stick to the course discription. he really tries hard with the shy kids and hey: good for them.
This class was SUPPOSED to be Homer, Plato, Dante, Michelangelo, Voltaire, etc. Rather, we only talked about gender issues and the teacher's own agenda. The text was worthless too. It was mostly secular progressive dribble. WE SPENT A CLASS PLAYING BALL! You will really like this teacher if you are intellectually LAZY and enjoy IGNORANCE!
Excellent professor, very objective and understanding. Gets the whole class involve.
Easiest A ever (twice). Not always a good thing though. Never had to use a single brain cell in this class. But the group activities were fun (yes, fun, but after that, what?). It's like a hollywood film with lots of explosions and car chases. Fun, but nothing to think about afterwards.
This cllass was supposed to be interesting but this teacher turned it into a boring gender-inequality and male depression class. If you just want easy credit take it but be warned that you won't learn anything in this class. Boring games and he assigned readings for each class and based on the readings you have to write a boring paper for each raea
Worst teacher I ever had.got an A but didn't enjoy it.Grades depend on his relationship with you.Gives assignments for his amusement.expl-bio on father, made one woman cry. Also made us read stupid book on male depression.lazy teacher, lots of wasted class time doing nothing.he also picks favorites.email me for more info.warning-don't waste your time.
Walzer is a great professor. He is progressive both in method and thought (a conviction that is often bashed and misunderstood). In order to truly experience the class, you have to PARTICIPATE beyond rolling your eyes or watching the clock! The discussions are what you make of them. This is NOT your average just-listen-to-the-lecture class.
Fall semester 2005,he provides all the information about the course in detail and covered most of the topics from book. Based on his teaching skill,he is well organized and everybody in class understand all his discussions or lectures. Our class visited LACMA and we had a grop presentation. He is one of the best professors in LACC.Take this class.
easy going, nice and easy grader...i recommend him to the fullest!
Walzer is not closed minded to hear other peoples opinions at all, and he doesn't get upset if you don't agree with his ideas. He just challenges students to think outside their boxes, it is his job-He keeps the class focused and on track, and he is helpful outside of class as well. A lot of people like him in the class. He is funny too.
Andrew is great! Take him for anything he teaches. The student body loves him. He keeps the class interested and shows films, uses art, and other mediums to help students learn. There aren't too many readings people!!!! We need to be abrest on these issues.
IF YOU ARE FEMALE TAKE HIS HUMAN 008. IT'S FUN AND INFORMATIVE.
He is so nice. He likes everyone to participate. If you're shy he'l make you feel comftorable with everyone. You'll probably make friends. He is kind of like another student. He has you do essays on very interesting topics. There is no way you won't pass his class unless you don't do the essays that's pretty much your grade. You should take him.
Dr. Walzer was an OK teacher, he doesn't respond to e-mails in a respectable amount of time, but if you have questions and you go to his office hours he will help you. Humanities 61 was not such an interesting class; and he also make the student play stupid games during class time.
umm.he is so easy that its stoopid. he gives better grades to people he likes. if u want to learn soemthing dunt take his class. He doesnt have control over his class room, and most of the time we just talk to everybody. It is easy, buh he has to like u to get a good grade. i mean,we made a card in his class for valentines.his class is so lame.

I found this class structure to be very refreshing. He encourages you to think, to use your mind. He ask for your feedback, so if your the type of student who doesn't like to interact or has no opinion don't take his class. For those of us who like to discuss issues, it's a great class!
Interactive class! Class Participation is required to earn A. No exams, several short essays. This is not a difficult class. If you are complaining about professor, you probabely don't participate nor complete your essays on time.
Professor Walzer is pretty lax. He's has some good ideas theoretically but I think he doesn't even believe half the things he preaches. His idea for a fair textbook of cultural critique was a book by a black feminist who is harsh and ethnocentric and **** herself. He's ok overall. & really easy.
His teaching style is refreshing, simply because one will not experience it in other classes. He encourages opinions and is never afraid to express his own.He is a very friendly man, except for when you ditch or come late to class.Appreciate the unique opportunity in being enrolled in his class.Trust me; you won't experience it anywhere else.
Really pushed participation and group-work. Lots of short essays.
awesome teacher, fun class, extremely helpful and understanding instructor...you will have lots of fun and laughs in this class...recommended for students that have an opinion on everything..I love this teacher.
Class Participation necessary! Shy people don't take him!
This teacher flirts with students and made some girls uncomfortable, including me. Got an A in the class but felt he played favorites and wasn't a stimulating teacher. If you have a brain, you'll be bored.
This class was such a disappointment. He watered everything down and didn't really teach. The textbook is great (and more informative and useful than him).
At first the class seemed like it would be interesting. Then as the days went by I slowly lost interest in the class. His class has no structure. I felt when we had to write papers he really gave no direction on the subject we needed to write on. Class presentations were a joke. I did not find this class stimulating at all.
The best professor ever.
His teaching skills are odd. His daily assignments were fairly easy but reading is a must. He, however, is unfair and inconsiderate. I HAD to drop his class, he just pissed me off.
Need to drop the class. i really hate interactions and recitations... he has it all the time! but he looks kind and jolly!
I had him for the SUMMER SESSION. Real easy and down to earth guy. There was no exams just reading certain chapters and doind essays topic are real easy. Also we did presentation on our opinions. Take him you wont reget it .
All you have to do to get an A is write the papers, show up to class and participate in class discussions. Be open minded and you won't have a problem with getting an A in this class.
Easy class. Do the reading and write few essays, then its guranteed A. He does the group debate everday.. and i didnt like it at all. So useless. But if u dont wanna do anything and get an A, take this class. I was in the class for 4months and I learned nothing. He doesnt give u tests but only essays. Good luck!
Man.. At first I thought this class was gonna be just another class but it was actually a good class. He's a very knowledgeable guy.I admire the way he puts us in groups for us to participate. The essays and group projects are easy. He lets you rewrite the essays only. No particular final except research paper. overall a good class.
He is a good teacher with a busy mind. His assignments lacked clarity but he gave multiple chances. I faced him towards the end of the class regarding his grading system. Moreover, my eyes witnessed what one might term as discrimination in dealing with some students. I think his new born child made him hesitant regarding his style.
I am simply disappointed that such a professor has a degree to teach, especially humanities with a lack of respect towards his students. I cannot think of all the negative terms to describe his attitude in class but I will state a few that come to mind: incompetent, discriminating, rude, careless, etc. Oh let's not forget his subjective way of grad
OKAY people! first of all, he's an awesome teacher. He is pretty lenient towards the end of the class. for our winter class, i didn't turn in 3 readings and got a B on one essay and i still got an A! what chu know about that! I like the topics he brings up in class and he really does make you see another world out there. oh and for the group projec
One word to describe this teacher: IDIOT! You have to HAVE a FaceBook account in order to be his friend and do assignments to post on his facebook page !!! Other wise he tells you to drop his dumb class. Oh, on the 2nd day of the semester he gives you a test about his syllabus !!! You do the Math ! Is this a college level class ? Please !
Really unprofessional and ridiculous. He made us all hold hands and form a human knot. Plays favorites like crazy and tends to give better treatment to Mexican kids. Class is useless. You only learn that Walzer is an idiot. He doesn't listen to you at all, just stares blankly. Told two students I complained about them. I never did. Guy's bad news.
Teacher plays favorites to the extreme. Professor Walzer is unprofessional in that he doesn't know personal space and is ineffective at being a teacher. One time he stormed in angry and asked us if we're bored of him. He also likes to remain neutral and doesn't have any real knowledge that can be offered in class.
Dont get intimidated by what these people are saying, their only saying bad things of him because they decided to be lazy. He is such an easy going teacher, he lets you rewrite his essays if you got a poor grade. Put it this way he lets you call him by his first name.Hardly any classwrk more activities that are interesting. you def learn new things
Only lazy people like Walzer. I have gotten a A in the class, and I still think Walzer is useless. Walzer needs to leave his personal problems out of class.
If you want to reminisce about your high school days this is a great class to do it in! He is boring, he doesn't teach! The text is extremely interesting, but this guy is as bald in personality as the hair on his head! Take it with someone else!
I can't believe people like him are teachers..The only way you're guranteed an A is if you talk to him alot i got A's in all my papers and still ended up with a B..horrible teacher just talks about his personal life get on his good side and you'll be fine but if you want to learn something go somewhere else..
Worthless. I hate this class. if you want to learn something. dont take it. all you do is read and blog then go to class and talk about what you read.
This class should be fun, but the teacher makes it uninteresting and difficult. i wrote a 7 page essay and got a C. every day, you must read uninteresting material? This class is made for English book worms not people who have normal lives.
Awesome class!! This is college people if you want help go 2 him and he's extremely helpful and clear!! No tests, midterms or final, just reading and super easy essays! People are just disrepectful and got on his bad side, but if you show effort and talk 2 him he'll know your trying and it is an easy A!! Definately recommended!
i loved this class! such an easy A all u gotta do is read and write, and if you're in college u should be able to do that without complaining. He is so helpful all u gotta do is show you're trying which is simple because the readings are so fun. Take his class!
i thought he would be a good easy teacher according to the comments in rate my proffesor but his not easy.In a week you need 4 writings and readings to do its true he dsnt have tests but has 4 esseys to wite.Dsnt teach anything and very boring class.I never had been apsent did ALL work provided got 2 As nd 1 b he gave me a C he dsnt know why ether
Readings are simple just make sure to do them all. There are essays but again they are simple. If you talk to him and take the class seriously he will give you a good grade. I did all assignments, put a little effort into the essays and got an easy A.
OMGG his the worst teacher ever puts discremanation between students nd if your not his favorite He will give you a C even though you get all good grades. His very weired nd dnsnt know why he gives you a C. DOnt take him his crazy
his the worst proffesor seriously nd he puts descramination between students. first day his class if full then only 15 people are left. DONT TAKE HIM
Our class was just immateure that's why he's getting bad ratings. The class is fun and material keeps the class interesting. He is helpful u just need 2 ask for it and not be a lazy student because there is plenty readings and essays. Overall good class, just don't act like your in high school.
this teacher is not a good teacher at all doesnt teach anything just gives plenty homeworks and esseys to do..first day his class was full then everyone droped his class.. i wont recomend him he gives you a bad grade for no reason
He is not a bad teacher, he does not give unjust grades. there are daily readings and entries and then class discussions, most of them interesting if you read and contribute. the class is not hard at all if you read, then put some thought into what you read and give an opinionated entry. oh and speak up, it helps.
EASY EASY A! He gives weekly assignments from the book. U just have to read & answer questions & the reading is actually really interesting. Pretty straightforward class. NO TESTS! Just a final group project & a couple essays. Recommended if u want a chill class which u really don't have to study much for, just do all your work and you'll be fine.
He is a good teacher and helps his students and class discussions are based on the readings.
His class is easy but interesting. Makes class fun. I recommend his class. Overall, good teacher.
Good Professor who taught me how to think critically, write good essays and very helpful; brings globalization awareness and wants you to be opinionated and cerebral; excellent and thanks ProfessorWalzer .... !!:-)
Great professor! Very clever and interesting ;) Those who rated him down are those who didn't want to do the little work he was giving! He is clear and passionate about the subject he is teaching. Take him I recommend :)
Great class, easy too. All the work is done on facebook with the exception of 3-4 papers and a group project. Subjects were interesting. While professor Walzer is liberal and very open about his views, he gives everyone the opportunity to express their point of views and treats them all with respect.
He is awesome!Very easy class and easy A.It is true that he talks about his Mexican wife and child a lot, but I truly find his comments interestting and funny,it doesn't bored me at all.I find it fascinating that he is so interesting in the Mexican culture (I'm not even from Mexico).Take this class if you want to get an A and have fun.
Learned a lot about ancient cultures and civilizations. Very intelligent teacher. Great text book. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Mr. Walzer is an amazing professor. His class is pretty easy. There are Facebook blogs that you have to contribute to for every reading, which is your homework, and a paper for each chapter- which is super easy. He makes the class interesting and enjoyable. He also doesn't give any sort of test, midterm, or final.
Very happy to be professor Walzer student. Enjoyed the class very much. His style of Facebook blog is ok. You have to make sure you post on time. Essays for every chapter and group work is expected in his class. He is a committed and responsible professor.
its a class anyone can pass unless you REALLY slack off and dont do any assignments. the textbook is mandatory bc the hw is responding to his questions via facebook. an essay on each unit. no test/quiz/or finals. interesting class and hes an easy grader
He's very professional, patient, considerate to his students. There are 4 projects, 4 presentations, and 2 assignment readings before every class. He's very clear on everything. If you have no time to read, then don't get his class but otherwise an easy and fun class (at least he tries to).
Professor Walzer is very professional, organized and final is super easy. Makes the class interesting. Great professor, I do recommend
Must read according to the syllabus and post replies on group FB setup by professor. He gives 3 essays of about 3 to 4 pages and also 3 group projects. No final or midterm. Class participation is a must and if you are shy, don't take his class. Overall not a class you dread going to. He is Pro "La Raza",Latino friendly.
Good Teacher. I didnt really participted in the discussions but still it was a good class. Fun & encourging class. If you like to debate and arugue, take the class. You will have fun!
This Professor has different rules for different students. He likes some and not others.
I was very excited for this class I was kinda disappointed. I learned about a lot of amazing women, but the class itself wasn't that great. Discussions were fun, he makes awkward jokes that made me uncomfortable, he interrupts you in your presentation (very distracting) and I don't think he actually reads your entire work. Do all the discussions.
He is a chill teacher who is very understanding with his students. Those who dislike this man are lazy because he is super easy. He does not believe in quizzes, all you have to do is write fb posts, group presentations, & essays. As long as you participate in his class and get the work over with then you're fine.
Walzer is a great professor! His class is an easy A.i really enjoyed his class, the class discussions were never boring We didnt have any quizzes or tests But u did have to answer questions on fb and write 3 essays throughout the course
He talks to much about his life but gives examples just do the homework not hard and its just one textbook and attend class he is a down to earth person
One of the easiest professors I've had. There are no tests or quizzes in his class and all you have to do are presentations and write FB posts about the reading material. He's awkward sometimes but honestly, if you fail, you deserve it. His class is very easy!
Easy A!!! No quizzes, no finals. All you have to do is to post in the Facebook regarding the topic of the day. Also, you need to do a presentation. But no worries, it's a group presentation. Prof. Walzer is a very nice guy. Thanks Prof.!
Dr. Walzer is great professor and an even better man who is actually concerned with the education of his students. He's a progressive thinker and a true university level educator. I believe he learns as much from his students as they do from him. The material is hard but he makes it easy because he actually EDUCATES you. took 8 wk course Fall 13'
There are a total of three papers, but they only have to be three pages long. There is two group projects and you could choose your own groups. You have to do a reading and a post everyday. Overall, it is an easy class.
Energetic professor. During the summer class there was a reading and response due every day, a good number of essays, and a couple group presentations. It was a big workload but the class was a lot of fun. There is a lot of discussion in class and in groups and he's a pretty chill guy.
The work is easy! Expect to do essays every week! I noticed he has a preference in between students which is so not cool. i would take him again though, cant say anything bad or good about him.
Cool Class Walzer teaches. There is no quizzes or exams.
Took him for summer and i really enjoyed his class. He assigned readings of the textbook and you have to answer questions based on that (etudes). Some days we had 2 readings due in one day but if you stay on top and don't procrastinate you'll be fine. We had 3 group projects and 3 essays.
I took his class for summer. Here's a fact: he's really into learning about other cultures. For example, I did a presentation of "Baba Yetu." He really appreciated the fact that it's interesting (and new for him). He likes challenging questions and comments from students. You'll have to read. 2 Questions from the readings due by next class.
Great Teacher who is into his job enjoys teaching and likes to inspire to go beyond a persons concepts of humanities and supports the acceptance of all cultures as a evolutionary socialogical process. You need to be emotionally intelligent. I have to say that I deserved a better grade than he gave me last time in 2011.
I would recommend taking his classes, learn about yourself, learn about the world.
Even after passing the class, I still don't get the point of the class. You won't learn anything that you couldn't learn by just reading the book by yourself. Extremely monotonous and boring class. No exams. two essays and two presentations, plus readings and post every day.
Didn't learn to much, the only thing your required to do is to do all your presentations, read the book and participate in the class assignments, no exam or tests I still wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you dont want to learn anything
This was a fun class and was pretty easy. Basically just do the reading, do the discussion posts, and the two papers. I like that he focuses on students figuring stuff out themselves, but I do wish there was a bit more lecture and guidance.
Didn't learn anything in his class he's to easy going on the students, All he require is for you to do presentations, papers, class discussions in groups but he don't teach you anything
He's a good teacher easy class but the last two essays are graded somewhat hard so be prepared other than that really easy got a high B
This was my first course at LACC. I really enjoyed the discussions and the readings, as well as having the opportunity to hear other viewpoints in a very diverse classroom. The heavy homework prepares you for class discussion and essays. Professor Walzer is an incredibly kind, open-minded (and funny) professor. Don't be afraid to ask for help.
I honestly loved this class. It was a great starter class for me - fresh out of high school, unsure if college is right for them, and exploring that with interesting classes. Don't be put off by Andrew being a man. He acknowledges his privilege, knows his material, and is open to learning. One of his best qualities is his willingness to help.
Professor Walzer was a good teacher. His lectures are student based, meaning you will group up with students and discuss the topics among yourselves and then share with the class afterwards. I don't particularly like this kind of learning. As long as you read and provide input you will get through the class.
Amazing teacher he tries to pick topics that are current an stuff you can relate to. He is an awesome professor read do the essays an receive your A.
Assigns reading and short essay questions to be answered online due before each class. Class is him asking a question, telling class to get into groups and discuss an answer, then share the answer with the class. Takes up the entire hour and a half every single time. No real substance here but easy A if you do the boring work and learn it yourself.
Maybe he thinks he is a Poli-Sci professor, because literally all we did was discuss current politics. The whole course is solely focused on race and black oppression. Take it if you need the credits because you will pass with no problem. The hardest part is showing up and listening to a 2 hour discussion of how evil white people are for 16 weeks.
Professor Walzer class is easy and pointless because all the work is online like write a post everyday on etudes . He is picky when it comes with essays and grades really tough . But , if do the presentations , the three essays , and the posts on etudes the grade you could get is a c . To be honest this class was boring .
Professor Walzer's class is not hard but it is not easy either. There are no exams or quizzes of any source but there is a lot of reading you are required to do. There are approximately two readings due each day, three presentations, and three papers due throughout the semester. The lecture consist of going over the reading that were due that day.
not only is he a good professor who cares about what he is teaching, he is a good person. warm and friendly. he keeps assignments and grades on etudes so you can keep track of your grade from day one. there is no reason for anyone not to do well in this class. readings are interesting. no quizzes or tests!
A total waste of time. No lectures, he just has students get into groups. Professor gives minimal effort. Appears to have little to no knowledge to share. Class is not about what it is supposed to be. Stupid easy. This guy should be teaching elementary school.
This professor is great!
He's a solid choice for a professor. Has a lot of insight and good feedback for his students.
HE was one of my FAVORITE PROFESSORS! I loved taking his class! He can inspire you to become a humanities major. You discuss so much controversial topics. He's extremely respectful and caring. He'll work with you if you ever need help. Homework was extremely easy and it was the best class! Just participate, do the work, and be attentive. Simple!
Hw is online, gives chances to do hw, essays are easy, fun, not hard at all, get ready to talk and share your ideas, no hate, can't be racist, awesome, 10/10 would take again, if he taught every subject I'd take him again and again
Professor Walzer is a great professor. He truly cares about his students and is there to help you; he really makes an efffort to know his students. All the homework and essays are online! He's very understanding and allows late work. Beware though almost everything is group work and group presentations. The book is necessary!
This class is easy if you just do the work on time. Listen to his feedback for the essays and you'll do well. He is very inspirational and his class will help you become a better person if all is considered. Great atmosphere overall and if I could, I would take all his classes. You will leave that class more mature and with new life insights
Currently taking his class. He is very passionate in anything he does. Takes you seriously as a student and just wants the best for you and from you. Really hard not to like the guy.
He is willing to to help you succeed.
Easy A but professor is very unreliable. Students do most of the teaching and is picky on many assignments, even thought criteria is not necessarily clear even with elaboration. Many students stopped attending altogether and he did not care. Take if you want to pass class with minimal effort.
The rundown: you read and write a short response to your readings two times a week. 2 short papers and 2 oral presentations. You will also discuss reading in class with groups. This is not a lecture class at all!! only discussions. I learned so much and loved it. Easy class. Nothing wild.
A super nice guy, very understanding. Read the textbook and and do the hw on canvas, class is a discussion on the text broken into small groups. 2 papers and 2 presentations on the text of your choice and an unlimited amount of rewrites for essays is available. Do hw on time or he takes away points. Attend class, he remembers names very easily.
You have to add him on facebook and post responses under the assigned topic. Good class if you don't want learn anything. Not much use of the book. Discussions with the other students about the topics given are blah... Don't take this class if you're on the shy. You'll get picked on. Avoid
Enjoyed taking a humanities class with professor Walzer. He really does go out of his way for his students to succeed. There are reading responses due before every class on a short chapter from the text books. There's also two essays, which he lets you revise for a better grade. You'll receive a good grade if you put in the effort.
Best piece of advice when taking a class with this professor: Fight for your grade. You will thank me later. The professor happened to have degrade my work despite hitting the criteria wanted and also this professor happens to be stuck up when it comes to creative writing. Like that form of writing? This is not the professor for you.
Professor Walzer wants his students to learn and think. He enjoys the process and it shows. You can easily get an A if you just do the class activities and the homework. Honestly, the most proficient and fun professor Ive had so far.
Took this Prof for 2 classes and what I can say is, he's REALLY the easiest A you can possibly take. You'd rather take his class during Winter semester compared to Spring/Fall bc his class becomes too unbearable to sit through. All you do is get in groups, discuss readings, & he takes the last 10 min to discuss important upcoming exams/projects
Professor Walzar , Is honestly one of my favorite proffesros at LACC. I have taken both HUM008 AND HUM006 with him . I honestly can't say anything negative about him as long as you do the work and follow his rubric you are guaranteed to pass . One thing I can say is he hates lazy work so if you're a lazy student this may not be the class for you .
I took HUM 6 over the summer so the homework and readings felt a bit rushed bc of the short time frame. He gives lots of readings but they're not boring! His tests are super easy (even if you skim through the readings). My only complaint is that he's not super clear on instructions when assigning work and will take points off for stupid reasons.
He is caring about his students grades, the assignments were sometimes unclear and confusing. Most of the time it was getting into groups and discuss the readings. The presentations for the units had a very unclear grading criteria. He is really lenient and gives opportunities to catch up on assignments. I left not knowing the purpose of the course
The only thing we did in class for the majority of the time was get into groups and discuss the readings, and this happened every single time the class met! The one thing I am mainly frustrated about, however, is how repetitive the assignments are. The assignments are 9x/10 going to be a prep and a reflection for every time the class met.
good professor!
he doesnt really explain what he wants from his assignments. its confusing to ask him for help because he isnt specific. other than that he's pretty funny and lets you turn in late work and extra credit.
I took this course winter 2020. It wasnt easy at all. The professor makes you work to earn your grade. If you are thinking of this class as an easy A then dont take it. He makes you read a lot , gives back to back work, but he wants his students to be successful. Hes a really good teacher . The class is worth it
I hated this class. His grading criteria is unclear and takes off points for the stupidest things that left me guessing what I did wrong. You have to make your group project sparkle and if you dont (it is unclear of what he means by sparkle) he will take off 10-15 points. It was mentally painful and I am so happy I am done with it.
Literally the worst professor Ive ever had in college. He has an unclear grading criteria you literally can do everything it says to do on the rubric and hell still find a way to mark you down. He also is a very tough grader and takes points off every little thing the readings are so long and he makes this course more difficult than it needs to.
I took the online HUMAN006 class during Summer Session 2020 and it was super informative! I thought the class was going to be a history class, but it focuses on current politics so it's more like an English class. All the readings were so thought-provoking and interesting! We had three major essays and three major presentations. Not a tough grader.
Straight forward class. If you read the materials and participate often and detailed in the discussions you'll pass. Always offers a chance for extra credit, so go the extra mile. It's worth it.
Professor Walzer is a great teacher. He's passionate when it comes to teaching historical events that shape shift our lives. He enjoys giving feedback and wants every student to participate in group projects and discussion boards. It was fun taking him and I recommend everyone taking him if they are looking for a class that's engaging and awesome.
All you do is read essays written by preducice people and talk about all the disgusting aspects of humanity without actually discussing what you could do to better it or why humans in history were wrong for those actions
Do you like back to back homework in the same week. If he does not like your writing style be prepared to have points removed from your grade. Very critical to judge your opinion. I would stay away if you have a great GPA.
I took his 8 week course. The book was free and there was homework about 4 times a week. It was pretty straight forward - discussion post about the chapter. There was 3 essays. He is a tough grader on the essays but he also offers a lot of extra credit and you can make up work at any time. Its a lot of reading but he is very helpful and responsive.
He will take points off if you are not following his directions when it comes to writing or he does not like what you are writing. The lecture 5 minutes or less no real explanation. The stories are not something I could get interested in. If you want to keep a good GPA, run away from this course. If you work full-time, this can be tough.
This class had to be the worst, I didn't learn anything. He should be reprimanded for how he works with his students. His attitude, write what I want to see or you will lose points. The book is awful. There is a lot of reading and writing, he can be judgemental. Save your GPA, don't take his class. .
Professor Walzer can be tough at times but most of the times, he is okay, I would say this is an average professor at LACC. He gives lots of reading materials for students to read, although he does offer some extra credit opportunities at the end of the semester. What I hate about this class is the fact that he provides lots of group projects.
Professor Walzer has honestly been my favorite professor I have ever had! In order to get a good grade you have to participate in the daily discussions (weekdays only) but if you participate and do the short reading the class is actually super easy. Prof. Walzer provides good feedback and he is a great person to be a humanities professor. :)
My favorite professor Ive ever had!!! He is so caring to his students and if you do the work, youll really learn. I would love to have him as a professor again.
I liked this class. It's fairly easy. As long as you complete the homework, you'll be fine.
Really patient, nice and cares about his students success. All of his material is online so attending in person was kinda pointless. The work and reading is really easy. He also focuses a lot on group work. You'll get an A if you do the work on time and follow his format.
Professor Walzer is pretty chill. His material is all online, so going to class isn't always necessary. The work is straightforward, and he's lenient with late assignments. I found Unstuck AI super helpful for prepping the group projects.
I took Prof Walzer's class during the 5 week winter session, and although it was a discussion post required every day, he was lenient on late policy. Also a lot of group work and making slideshows. Daily discussions are graded tough but he provides extra credit if you go to his office hours and commenting on announcement posts etc.
I loved this guy. All of the assignments require audio recording submissions mostly responding to videos, podcasts, and articles. He is super easy on grading, accepts late work, and gives extra credit. Would definitely take this class again, it was the easiest A I've ever gotten.
If you want to take this class, make sure you take it with another professor! He is very judgmental and will deduct lots of points if you don't do it EXACTLY his way. I learned nothing in this class. Save your time please!
Its a class that doesnt require lots of time, but you have to post 2-3 min video every day. very accessible and is happy to talk to you. hIghly recommend for summer/winter session , easy A as long as you consistently post and are properly engaged.
He literally just gave up on teaching us cause he was annoyed of us
