I thinks he smokes weed he a funny as liberal but a really nice teacher. He grade on the super curve. Take him so you can hear his 60's stories
Econ 202, is a hard class, I don't expect there to be an easy professor. But, you want to take this guy. He is probably the best choice.
Dr. Winnick used real world experiences that helped us get a good grasp of the material. Damn Good Professor!
Take him fro econ 202 and 209. Very nice helpful. ANd best in grading. so easy, and plus u will lear a lot in ur class. make u r life easy just take him.
A very good professor. I just don't understand why he spends 3/4 of the class talking about articles and jumps out topics and chapters that are quite important for the class. On the other hand, he uses terms and examples that are easy to understand. Very good professor!!
This guy has the biggest ego ever. Gives way too much homework. If you are taking more than 12 units, I will not recommned Dr. Winneck. 33.3% of the class got a (D)or failed. He talks too much about politics and goes off typical everyday. His exams are open book and very difficult. He can't teach!
So many poor trees slaughtered just so he could pass out his articles everyday! Easy teacher though, let's you slide with a lot of stuff if you're nice.
Do not take stats. 209 w/this guy. Gives far too much h.w. Anyone taking more than 12 units will have a rough time of it. He boist of his graduate days at Berkley. I wonder why he isn't teaching there. 1/3 of the class got a (d) or (f) The mid-term and final do not match lectures and homwork. SOS!
Do not take this professor for Econ. 209. The mid-terms and Final exam do not match the lectures or homework problems. Don't be fooled by his open book final. If you are taking 16 units, do not take Stats with him. You will spend 5-7 hours a night doing homework, your other classes will suffer!
I love this liberal guy and the way he talks down on dipshit conservatives. He is a real cool teacher. For my stats m term he let his students stay extra hours to finish it up. I stayed 4 hours extra. He is really passionate in what he does and he is great. i just hate the homeworks
He talks too much, too much homework and the exams are nothing like what he gives in the assignments and then he goes off talking about something else for like half of the class.
1. Term paper 30-35 pages! Not difficut/not easy but time consuming, (8-10 hours of my life, gone) 2.THE FINAL EXAM: 45 Quesition with A,B,C parts. B.S! All seats were full, some people came From 10am to 5 pm!that's 7 hours! I took 5 hours. SAT's didn't take this long.A TERM PAPER, MIDTERM, AND FINAL+Weekly H.W. 25 + a,b,c, (F-grade for WINNICK)

Althought its a lot of homework, he only has one midterm which is super easy and his final is super easy. Gives a 15% extra credit to boost your grade. He is awsome.
Cool class, goes the whole 100 minutes. Gives tons of extra credit and two tests, both multiple choice, two review articles (+ an extra if you want extra credit), and an optional term paper for 10 percent of the grade. Good professor, enjoys it. Take Dr. Winnick if you are able to.
excellent professors. if you have the chance to take one of his classes, take him. 2 article reviews, 1 midterm and 1 final. although he gives homework, it is extremely helpful. whenever you need to talk to him about any topics, he is open to answer questions.
Very conscientious, dedicated, fair and articulate. One of the best instructors I have had in my lifetime.
probably one of the best professors on campus. he knows how to teach a collge-level class, very articulate and expects nothing but your best. also gives extra credit. if you have a chance to take dr. winnick's class, don't pass up the chance.
One of those teachers that teaches you the basics of a topic like stats that you will always remember. Very good teacher. Very anti-bush. If you're one of those people that doesn't like to learn but just wants to pass the class, look somewhere else, this is not your type of class room, you will suffer if you take it. But he is very excellent proff.
Great professor, does give homework, try to complete most of it to get credit. He tells you alot of information about politics and the economy. Gives about massive news articles concerning the economy.
Great professor! Attendance is a must. There is homework for every chapter, 2 article reviews, 1 extra credit article review, 1 midterm, and the final. He is very strick with grammar, and if you have grammar problems he will give you less points on the article reviews. Tests are slightly hard. The textbook was of good help.
VERY HARD CLASS IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO WORK OUT THE PROBLEMS. HE LETS YOU USE THE BOOK ON MIDTERM AND FINAL, BUT GRADES ON THE WORK. IF ANSWER IS RIGHT BUT WORK IS WRONG YOU GET NO CREDIT. HOMEWORK FOR ECERY CHAPTER, AND VERY TIME CONSUMING.
you will learn so much about economics. he is one teacher you should take.
he seems mean but he's really nice, knowlegeable, very articulate, interesting lectures and loves what he's doing. class attendance is mandatory, otherwise u lose points. there is HW for every chapter, 2 article reviews, 1 mid term and 1 cumulative final. you really have to study to get an A. if u want to learn, you definitely want to take him!
Great Professor! Interesting professor, gets off topic from time to time. He graduated from Berkley and even worked for the White House in his younger years. If you want to learn, take him. Dynamic person, outspoken and enjoys teaching.
very modest. i recommend he goes back to germany, that's all he ever talks about. his tests are multiple choice only. he gives extra credit and curves the grade which is good. the only problem is that he does not explain the material very well. he gives out a lot of articles and spends a lot of time on them instead of going through the chapter.
Overall, Winnick is a very smart guy and a pretty good teacher. However, let it be known, that his class is NOT a breeze. He assigns ALOT of homework assignments and his tests are relatively difficult (even though he lets you use the book). He is also very anal about the assignments.
Good guy. Interesting but goes off topic alot. Take him if you want to learn something about Econ. Theres only 3 one page papers to write. All of them are article reviews. A midterm and final which you will pass if you go to the classes and read the book. The midterm is extremely difficult but the final is easier.
ok class. turned out to be easy grader. gives lots of extra credit! gives u ALOT of articles & does go off topic alot. but kewl guy
Either in Economics 202 or 209, the classes are easy. In both classes A's never seemed too far out of reach (if you're willing to put in some work). This man is BY FAR my favorite liberal!
He gives alot of homework, just do it. Chances for Extra Credit and he curves his exams. Just study the Practice Tests. In all my years of school, he is my favorite teacher, he is funny, makes Econ fun, and an intresting person. I just wished he taught other classes. I also work as a business consultant, so I know what I am talking about.
I took Econ 202 and 209 together. Overall, he is a great professor. Very easy to talk to about grades status and very helpful in both subjects. I would recommend him for those who wants to learn and earn a good grade. He gives out a lot of extra credits so that help a lot too.
Talks way too much. Leaves lots of time-consuming homework. Blames everything on Republicans and Conservatives, which gets really annoying. However, when actually teaching, does teach well. Unless you're a stupid liberal or you like a challenging class, stay away.
assigns lots of homework but it's doable. talks a lot and keeps you til the end of class. midterm and final are easy and just make sure you study the hw and take good notes. i think he's funny and kind of crazy but he is smart!
He is an excellent teacher. I've never took any stats class before and he made this class very easy for me. He gives a lot of extra credit (not even hard too) and I got a 100% on the midterm. He does give a lot of homework though (must type). Very interesting person and he keeps everyone awake. I've always liked what he has to say. Very smart guy.
Gives ALOT, ALOT, ALOT of work and his exam is HARD so it would take at least 3 hours to do. Do not take him if you just want to pass the class!!
A LOF OF HOMEWORKS
Do the homework. Tests are open book. The class is time consuming, but its an easy A if you put the time in.
attendance worth points, lots of hw, but manageable, depeding on your work and other classes...open book tests, gives extra credit.come to class early on test days, as you will need the extra time. group term project, basically a large hw assignment b/w a group. never understood any of his lectures.
Dr. Winnick is my favorite and possibly even the best professor at Cal State L.A. He has a great sense of humor and can grab your attention when going over a boring subject. He makes econ. very easy to understand. Most importantly, he is very caring and helpful. As long as you put in effort in his class, you will do well.
he is a super nice man. make the class easy to understand. the best Econ professor I ever had. very helpful and thoughtful, he would delay the deadline for hw sometimes. lots of reading assignment. exams are not that hard if you do the hw, read the book. JUST TAKE HIM !
Love this guy. Great speaker, animated, logical, passionate, educated, very eye-opening class. A lot of homework but all interesting. I'm not an economics major but thinking about switching!
i took macroecon with him! loved him. he made me change my view on econ. i enjoy politics on a new level. he opened my eyes. he has a lot of work. but all so worth it. lots of extra credit. he is SOO awesome! he was my favorite teacher at this college and i was said when i had to miss his class. he is so interesting. i wud retake if i could.
Gives too much HW and is really anal about homework being typed. Term project also which is also time consuming. Too much things to be used just to do homwork and is pissed at the world.
way too much homework his homework would take at least an hour or two because he wants EVERYTHING typed up, the group project is just like all the homework assignments put together, choose a good group or you will be doing all the work like i did -_-. Class is easy as long as you do all the work just VERY time consuming
DO THE HOMEWORKS, I GOT A "B" IN MY MIDTERM AND FINAL AND MY FINAL GRADE WAS A "D", BECAUSE I DIDN'T DO ALL THE HOMEWORKS...
Not a hard class as long as you do hw n readings. Read the book and pay special attention to some of the term definition. He sometimes goes too deep into lectures and make some of the hw problems seem hard but don't let that fool you. The midterm and final are way easier than anticipated; they are even easier than the hw.
He is really the best. He may push his opinion, but its for the right cause and view. He opposes bush's tax cuts on corps and wants more for the average joe. He is wonderful. He is so great! He gets 5 stars. He is a jewel at CSULA.
He passes out so many articles.... hes into current events...but he's chill......there's homework that is time consuming but its book work....and its helpful towards your midterm and final....Exams are multiple choice.
He is not eassy, likes HW typed. must do HW to pass the class. test base on book and on the articles he passes. he passes lots of articles. if u want a easy class do not take him. must do all the HW to do good on class.
He is a very well prepared teacher and knows his stuff but he's really hard. Maybe it was hard for me cause the stats class I had was a long time ago and this stats are way more complex. A loooooooooot of work for this class. HW must be typed plus the HW online. His test are ridiculously long the final took us 4 hours
He is a interesting individual. Overall his class is not hard but assigns tons of homework and assignments. The group project is long and he wants everything a specific way. He thinks that he is the smartest person in the world and he likes to put students down. I would not recommend him. His Final and midterm are five hours long each.
15+ pages of articles every class meeting. There's basically 2 parts to the class, current events 2/3, and book 1/3 of class time but most of the test is based on the book. If you read the online book and understand that + do all the hw, it should be an easy A. Very passionate liberal, interesting class overall. He curves big.
I think he is a great professor. He gives you chances to get a good grade with extra credit and continuously gives you feedback on where you're at throughout the course. Homework assignments are helpful to the test along with his interesting lectures.
He thinks that he is the smartest person on the planet I don't appreciate how he puts down students for asking questions and how he talks so badly about the educational system that pays his bills. He is a terrible teacher but he is often the only person teaching this class. Avoid at all costs!!!
This professor was funny at times, sure he can be a bit vulgar and opinionated but he does open your eyes to things and he does want you to get a good grade. I am thankful that I had him for a teacher. :D
He can be loud at times, but overall he is a great teacher. There is a lot of homework, must attend class, and there is a HUGE term project. If you come to class, do all the hw, and extra credit, and study for the test you will pass his class!
He spends at least 3/4 of class time complaining about the world & talking about how educated his kids are. You hardly learn anything from his class lectures so you basically have to teach yourself by reading the text. Hw was very time consuming and term project was a nightmare. Open book exams, but dont be fooled. ITS HARD.
This is not an easy professor nor an easy class. If you're looking to just slack & expect a decent grade, this isn't for you. He gives a lot of homework, but gives you a week to complete it. He talks about worldwide problems & tells you how it is. There's an important term project so get a good group. The midterms & final are long! Do all your hmwk, ALL the extra credit & make sure you're ready for his tests.
1 midterm & 1 final (accum); read the book & do homeworks, u'll get at least a B. CON: never end class on time; often off topic, spend 70% of time talking about world issues but not related to lecture. PRO: midterm & final Q's are from textbook (the book is extremely easy to understand); give a lot of extra credit (include term paper); curve grades
I was afraid going into the final that I might not pass but ended up with an A! I find him a little intimidating to approach but apparently he curves a lot so there's no need! His extra credits are worth a lot (up to 10% each); he gave us 2. 30% of the final is from the midterm which he gives you to study.
If you care about getting the easy A, he's not the first I'd recommend. If you care about learning and genuinely caring about the world, he's amazing. He makes you think and exposes you to things you never knew. I high recommend him. He's also very nice. Read the articles, and the homework is easy. TAKE HIS CLASS!
Amazing professor. 1 midterm, 1 final and plenty of Extra Credit opportunities. I took him for micro and got an A- and a B+ on Macro only because I didn't do all the extra credit, otherwise I would have received an A. Take him!
Econ 202 is now my favorite class I have taken. Professor Winnick taught me more about politics and economics than I have known all my life. You must be engaged and pay attention in class, to be rewarded. He requires a lot of reading, but it is all useful information. Overall great professor, very opinionated, very intelligent.
1 midterm, 1 final, and 2 articles assignments. Exams are split into two parts, text and current events. You must read the book and do all the homework in order to do well on the exams. Attend class, he will give you examples of what kind of questions he may ask on the current event section. Do the extra credits, it will help you A LOT! Take him!
Lets start off by saying the midterm and final are insane They are not hard but time consuming. took me 3 hrs to complete the midterm but got an A. I DID NOT come close to finishing the final. No one finished it! There isn't sufficient time to finish it although he gave us 3 1/2 hrs (impossible) not to mention the term paper -_- i do not remecomend
HE IS AMAZING! His class was the best one I've taken during these 3 years at CSULA. He used to work as a White House financial advisor and has a vast amount of knowledge to share. If you wish to learn and get inspired, take him. If you're not willing to do the work take someone else who will pass you regardless of your performance in class.
I took Econ 201 202 & 209 with Dr. Winnick. He is the BEST professor at CSULA and the student body is lucky to have him. I got A's in all his classes - he gives extra credit and curves. I had no strong math background but I did very well is his stats class. HE WILL CHANGE THE WAY YOU LOOK AT THE WORLD! Highest recommendation! GREAT PROFESSOR!!!
Gives plenty of extra credit. Talks a lot about current events, can be really boring. Just attend class, do all the extra credit and homework and there is no way you won't pass. Curves the midterm and final
Interesting professor. Material is related to the real world and current events are frequently discussed. Professor is very knowledgeable about economics and life in general. I really enjoyed these classes but they are not easy and require work.
Dr. Winnick is one of my favorite professors. He is informed on the subject and really tries to motivate his students. I wish I could take him for more courses.
RECOMMEND! Best Professor I've taken at CSULA by far. I actually learned some stuff. He's not easy, but he curves and gives lots of extra credit. My suggestion is to take advantage of it. I did all the extra credit except for the paper and I walked away with an A. My only complaint is the current event articles: too many and tree killer.
Hardest class, but great professor. He can seem unclear, but once you start an assignment it will click. One massive term project that is about 22 pages. Homework every week. He is tough, and will make you work. Don't fall behind and keep reading. Ask questions! he seems scary, but is super funny.
there is no way you can fail with Winnick, he is beyond easy! just show up for the test and you get a C however, if you want an A you actually have to study. He is by far one of the best Econ professors at csula. I would definitely take him again.
Very enthusiastic teaching. Loves his profession and shows it in class. Talks about real life economic problems and speaks so loud I cant fall asleep if I tried. Great class and interesting. Online homework, midterm and final. Curves like crazy. I didn't read the book at all and got B+
One of my favorite teachers! He will tell you about the WORLD, not just the subject you're taught. He changed the way I view the world. He's very informative and you will never get bored in class. He is very passionate about teaching. He cares a lot about the world and you can tell when you listen to him lecture. It is a relatively easy class.
Expect a HEAVY load of homework. LONG exams, but open book and reasonable . You WILL learn. He is one of the best professors I've ever had at CSULA. He is knowledgeable beyond words and will tell you about his life experiences. Very fair grader&more than willing to help, very clear on what he expects. Just study & you'lI pass. I would take again.
Great professor. assigns a lot of homework. 1 midterm and 1 final. Great lectures!!!
great professor. There's is plenty of homework, 1 group project, 1 midterm, 1 final -all open book. He also assigns extra credit assignments and extra credit for both the midterm and final. Makes you work for your grade but he is definitely a great professor, you won't regret.
He is a great teacher, he goes off topic a lot though. You can tell he really knows what he's talking about, very knowledgeable about the world. I went to Hus office hours and he was very helpful. There is a lot of homework and the group project was really long but if you ask him for help he makes it very clear what he is looking for.
he makes you buy an online program where most of the hw is done, and i think thats a good tool for studying for finals and midterms, and overall the context of the class, which is cool, if it stopped there, but then he makes you read 40 articles a week on current events which will also be included on tests, and makes you write two papers
Really great professor! He is very intelligent and informative. He will tell you everything he knows from personal experiences to actual facts. Professor Winnick altered the way I viewed the world. He's really one of the best! However, you have to keep up with the reading in order to pass the class. There are A LOT so be prepared!
