Knows his stuff and is a really nice guy on top of that
He is so knowledgeable! Hot isn't really the word for him, but he is cute - charming maybe. His class is a lot of fun, but his tests can be a little ambigious.
Professor Workinger is an excellent professor! He made Anth very interesting. I liked the writing assignments(and the pre-write opt.) I learned a lot and looked at things from a different point of view. I highly recommend his class. VERY INTERESTING!
good teacher, easy class
Dr. Workinger isn't easy, but he makes his classes interesting and fun. He encourages class discussions, which help you learn. He's a great professor!
He is a very nice man, but I found the way he tought to be boring, and I never could figure out how he calculated the final grade. Also, I agree his test are tricky, and make sure you write down everything he says, even though it's not on his power point notes.

really interesting class. tests aren't hard or cumulative.

tests are tricky, most of the time very boring, when he is in a good mood he lightens the atmosphere, not helpful, and isn't willing to help outside of class, write down everything b/c the tests don't even come from the power point
very unique class! a little hard, but fun!
Go to class, listen to lectures and study...you'll do fine! Uses some profanity in class...so if you don't like that you may want to take someone else.
You can tell he really enjoys archaeology. Especially Latin American Archaeology. He doesn't require attendance, but the tests are pretty much straight from the lectures. The book was boring. I may have read 10 pages in it, max. I made an A. Dr. Workinger is entertaining. He's worth being up early for.
Hot in that older sister's friend kind of way. The class was interesting. Lots of film clips. Read your text and do decent papers, and you will be fine.
A good professor but extremely arrogant. some may call it devil's advocate. he doesn't think twice about humiliating anybody in class but can take it as much as he dishes it out. he has great dimples.
Dr. Workinger is a good professor. No. 1 advice: leave your cell phone at home! He gives the whole class a quiz if it goes off. Copy the notes on the powerpoint religiously. He gives a quiz on the reading about every other week. There are also a couple of papers you have to write. Take him if you don't mind working a little harder than usual.
attend class - do your reading - study for tests = good grade
Definitely knows what he is talking about. Not too bad on the eyes either ;) Tips: Read the text, copy power points, don't even think of using, texting,or not putting your phone on silent. He hates cell phones. If you can get past his arrogant attitude and sometimes unecessarily hard tests, he's a pretty good teacher.
This class is pretty easy as long as you attend all the classes and take notes from him as well as the slides. He is serious about his cell phone policy so read what he assigns for quizzes. He is funny and interesting! Take him!!
Honestly, he is one of my favorite professors this semester. He isn't really arrogant, and if he is it's in a very humorous manner. You do have to pay attention in his class, but he makes the material very interesting and it is definitely worth sitting through his class. Also, he loves it when students get involved in class discussions. Take him!
Cute teacher... great sense of humor, however, not the easiest topic to grasp. Tests are difficult to ace. Reading very important, along with attendance. Wouldn't recommend unless highly interested in Anthropology.
Good teacher. Pretty easy, As and Bs easy to get. The tests are pretty easy if you study. It's a lot of material. He's entertaining and enjoyable, but can be arrogant at times. Quizzes are hard and random. Definitely used the book!
An interesting class to begin with, but very effective teacher. Generally uses Powerpoint slides, but occasionally uses video to teach class. A couple of papers were due when I took it, but they weren't difficult. Random quizzes, so attendance is somewhat mandatory. Test weren't difficult if good notes were taken.
Dr. Workinger is one of the most fun professors at UTC. He has a great sense of humor and makes class ultra interesting.JUST don't be late!! :) He is a gift to the department.
He is so cute! He is very passionate about this subject and is full of the most interesting stories. The class is kind of long but his appearance definitely makes it more bearable.
By no means is this the cake course people think it will be. However, he provides most of your notes as a powerpoint in class, so if you copy it all down you'll have nearly all you need for the test. It helps to read the book, although it isn't required. Tests are non-cumulative and there are only 3 including the final. Fun teacher, good class.
Dr. Workinger is one of UTC's best. He has high expectations, but is willing to help. Outside readings are a must. He'll make you think outside the box on exams. He knows his stuff. He's smart. He's fun. And he's entirely adorable.
He is definitely entertaining. He's the kind of guy that can care less if you pass or not if you don't seem to care but if you're willing to do the work, he's willing to help. His tests can be a little tough but read, know about the cultures and their locations, and pay attention to the videos/take notes and you'll do fine. Def write all of slides!
i've taken 3 classes with this prof. he's amazing. take his classes, you won't regret it. this is college, you need to come to class and take good notes. he won't baby you, but he's definitely one of UTC's best. love him.
He's rude, self-centered and teaches to the class like we all took it because we want to be anthropologists. Example, he called a student a smart a** for correcting him on a misspelled word. Tests are way too hard for his level of teaching. Gives quizes if he hears a phone as much as vibrate. I like the course, but definitely not with him.
Start with a visit to his office hours early in the semester. If he knows your name, he is nicer overall and won't call you names in class. That being said, his humor is dry, and sensitive people should not take this class. Great professor, but overall, this class is work and not an easy grade. Entertaining, engaging, and knowledgeable.
One of the most self-obsessed men I've ever encountered. The average for the first exam was a 69. I went to his office to talk with him about this because he wanted my opinion since I did very well. I told him I thought it was a ridiculous amount of information, he assumed people didn't study. This is an INTRO class. Dr. Workinger is RUDE. Avoid.
I have taken him multiple times because he is a great teacher. Yea the tests are tough but he usually asks me how the test was because he wants it to be fair while making sure you earn it. He is not self-centered and it looks like a lot of people misinterpret his humor. I would just laugh if he called me a smartass because there is no ill contempt.
If you have an intro class with him, it starts off kind of rough. Slowly, he gets better though. It is tough, so read your book for sure, but he knows a lot. Do not take it if you don't want to work.
Good teacher, very cute and funny READ THE BOOK!!!! he lost one of my papers and just gave me a 100 when i brought it to his attention. Easy but you HAVE TO READ
I cannot stand this man! He makes you read 3 chapters a week, but they must be read before you attend class on Monday or Tuesday. When he gives you pop quizzes, it isn't over stuff he has covered yet, but stuff you were supposed to read and he will even pull stuff from months back and quiz you. This class is impossible!
He is a pretty good teacher but don't take the class unless your willing to work. Make sure you read all the assigned readings because they will appear on the quizzes. Also gives quizzes when a cellphone goes of in class. Can have a smart mouth at times, but overall good teacher.
Do yourself a favor and DO NOT take him for a gen ed class! He gives pop quizzes often so you must read and go to class. This is NOT an EASY A. If you slack you might be able to pass with a solid C.
Leave your cell phone OFF or you will get pop quizzes. If you go to class and pay attention, the tests are cake. He grades papers a little harshly so be sure to give yourself plenty of time to do them. Readings are not really necessary if you go to class consistently. He is snarky and sarcastic but pretty hilarious.
Easy A. One time I completely forgot to study for a test and ended up getting a 98. You do need to read though, there are some pop quizes, but they're not hard. Pretty nice guy.
Cute and has a sweet baby face! Pretty funny and a good professor. At times he did come off a little arrogant, but for the most part he was pretty nice. Two essays and three multiple choice tests. Read the book, go to class, take notes, leave your phone OFF, and you should be golden!
I thought I would not enjoy this class much. However, he actually makes the class really interesting and fun. He's a great teacher and is funny. The class was easy. You have to study for tests, but I never read the material and made high As on all the exams. There are 2 essays which are kinda annoying but not hard
So hot! A great guy and really helpful. Must study though!
I ABSOLUTELY hated this class! He was not very helpful at all, and his tests were extremely hard! If you take him be sure you pay attention to the pictures in the powerpoint slides, they will get you when it comes to the test. Keep up on the reading he likes pop quizzes.
Love Cultural Anthropology with him. He's cute so it's fun to go to class. He makes it really interesting and has a subtle sense of humor. Tests are multiple choice and if you go to class and skim the chapters you'll make A's. Pretty easy if you listen and take notes. Some pop quizzes but not many. Did I mention he's cute? :)
Great sense of sly humor. If you aren't laughing, you aren't paying attention. Makes the subject totally accessible. Also, he loves a good story, and relates them well.
He makes it complicated, i'm an A student in an engineering major but i faced hard time to pass this class. Maybe because i'm international student and the other students had already taken archeology in the high school. Even though, the teacher seldom uses blackboard.!INTERNATIONALS Avoid!!
Workinger is a fantastic professor and is very knowledgeable in everything he lectures about. His stories of past archaeological digs are very interesting and he is quite clever. However, he is a tough professor and you will have to study. Tests are pretty tough. However, he is happy to help anyone if they feel like they are not grasping the info.
He's very clear during his lectures. Just come to class, take notes and you'll get a good grade on all his tests. He has 3 tests, one paper, and a few pop quizzes. There's a lot of reading, but it's very interesting. He makes awesome jokes and he's very nerdy & witty. I would definitely take him again!
Do not take this professor whatever you do. His lectures are incredibly boring. He tests more about details he mentions once in class instead of the big, important material. He does random pop quizzes, and the majority of the class fails and he does not care. He does not offer extra credit. There are 2 tests, a paper, and quizzes. He is rude.
This class was HARD! if you dont read the chapters you will fail. HIs test are extremely hard and his powerpoints are not online and barely covers the test material. READ READ READ or you will not pass. I am an A student and it was hard for me.
What he did cover in class was interesting and he made it easy to keep up. However, most of what was on the test he did not cover in class. He also loves pop quizzes so make sure you read before coming to class or you will fail.
At first I was all for taking Archeology thinking it would be cool. Since the beginning of the semester I was like "woah this class is awesome" now I'm regretting my decision. His lectures are over the broadest topics and he just skips over the little stuff that you don't think matter, well then the ests are probably 90% of the small topics.
If you decide to take this class get ready to say "when did we learn this?" to probably 99% of his tests. He makes it out like the tests are going to be over his lectures but you'll be very wrong, about 24/25 of the questions will be ones that you have to now from the book spot on that don't even come close to correlating with the lectures.
Do not get your phone out in class, don't even mistakenly keep it on loud because if he hears a phone, there will be a pop quiz. The material that is on the test isn't necessarily what we learn in class. If you actually participate in discussions during class he will be more inclined to help you. I would not take him again
Hands down the worst professor i've ever had, do NOT take him even if you think the subject is cool, he will make your semester a living hell and make you contemplate dropping out. I repeat, if you want your college experience to be enjoyable do not take him.
I don't see how he has bad reviews. I was very worried about taking Anthropology, I've never studied it before. He is very helpful and makes the lectures engaging and fun. He's kind of a nerd, ina good way. The test are multiple choice, very easy. You will have to read, not much though. Just study the notes which are slide shows. Would recommend.
Lectures are everything. His tests are based solely on those although reading is useful. Good lecturer, very clear. Loved the class, would take again. GO TO CLASS!
Hardest class I've ever had. Don't advise this one at all. He's cool and all, but the material plus his teaching/test style is a GPA wrecker.
Shouldn't be a professor for Archaeology, it may be what he does as a career but him as a professor in it is the worst thing imaginable. Please don't tame this class thinking it is a free A or even B, it's not. You'll have to work your ass off on a daily basis to even get a C and that's pushing it.
In this class you better buy the book, he gives pop quizzes and if you don't read you won't know the answers. I personally enjoyed this class, I think the subject is interesting and his personal experience stories make it easier to listen. I learned a lot in this class.
If you pay attention in class, do the reading, and study for the test you'll do fine. The class is hard, but you learn something after leaving it. Workinger is really funny and his lectures are pretty interesting. If you need anything outside of class, he's more than willing to help and very responsive. Powerpoints are on BB!
This class was made way more difficult than it needed to be. Grades for quizzes and test were not clear, because you could not see what you missed after they were graded. Discussion boards were very subjective, be prepared for your opinion to be wrong.
I thought Workinger was pretty fun and a decent professor all around. However, the lectures in class are long and he definitely goes into detail on the topic. He asks/requires you to read before you come to class and honestly you should. The tests are hard and intense, and pop quizzes are given. Go to class. Tests difficult, a lot of topic overthem
Dr. Workinger is incredibly smart and has so much knowledge to share about his field of study, but MAN it was so much to keep up with! I barely passed the classed, even after studying excessively and keeping up with every bit of information he gave. DO NOT MISS A DAY OF CLASS AND PAY ATTENTION TO LECTURES! TAKE NOTES ON LITERALLY EVERYTHING!
Overall he is a good professor. He gives you quizzes over the readings before class. The readings cover what will be talked about that day. There is one paper due. If you come to class and do the readings you will pass.
Anthropology is a very interesting subject but this class is not an easy A for a Gen Ed. You must come to class and write down everything he says. The quizzes are about what happened the class before but they are always POP quizzes. Sometimes he gives extra credit on them. Exams are very hard to earn an A on.
I took this course to fulfill my final gen ed and online expecting an easy A or at least a B. Nope I got a C!! it is so hard to post in the discussion and reply to other classmates several times throughout the week. Be prepared to read a lot and basically teach yourself. He doesnt upload any type of lecture material and test and quizzes are HARD
Online class. He gives very little guidance on what to study for tests. Discussion board format requires daily participation, but the topics are not on the tests, making it feel like a waste of time and focus on the topics. He gives no feedback when points are taken off on discussions or the essay section on exams. You'll teach yourself by reading.
Workinger is amazing and I would definitely recommend him for any course he's offering. Very funny and knowledgeable about anthropology. He gives occasional pop quizzes on readings that are assigned through the syllabus- the readings are the only homework and are usually interesting. Do them and go to class! He's a cool guy
I took the online cultural anthropology class and it was pretty clean cut. Each week consisted of a discussion board and a quiz, both of which is based of readings and short films that he posts. Easy class and easy going teacher.
I needed the credit hours. Im an average student with all A's as a first semester freshman. I made a D... Tests go into WAYYY more detail then he ever does. Put simply, do not take this class if you do not live sleep eat and breath cultural anthropology.
Workinger is a brilliant professor and a really gifted lecturer. His class is easily my favorite this semester, and it's thanks to how he delivers the material. If you're interested in history/culture then ANTH1400 is great. His tests can be difficult and his pop quizzes often have tough questions, but it's all mostly from his lectures in class.
He was a very funny teacher but that is really the only positive thing. He only lectures and there is never any interaction. There are pop quizzes, but even if you do well on those, it is hard for them to help your grade at all. There are 3 tests and they are really all that affect your grade. I have high 90's in every class but this one(82).
Workinger is a good teacher. You can tell, when you take this class, that he knows what he is talking about. Although you do have to pay attention and read because he gives pop quizzes, he usually hints if you are going to have one. No this isn't an "easy" class, but this is college. If you came here to take easy classes then you are out of luck.
I didn't like that Dr. Workinger swore constantly in class, it seemed unprofessional to me (I might just be a prude). His lectures are super interesting. He does not provide study guides or outlines for his exams. His expectations for students seem a little unrealistic to me. We had one paper: a narrative requiring two source citations (confusing).
Workinger has been one of my favorite college professors so far. He's very funny and while he mainly lectures (with some movies) I found that I was never bored in his class. We did have pop quizzes but if you pay attention in class and skim the reading you'll do fine. Exams weren't impossibly hard either. I enjoyed my time in his class.
Dr. Workinger is possibly the most sarcastic, rudest, superior acting professor I have ever had at UTC. He talks like everyone should be an Anthropology major and know everything about it. He gives quizzes that are only 5 questions and are very hard to make higher than a 3/5 on. DO NOT TAKE HIM unless you want to ruin your GPA for a gen-ed!!!
great class for an 8 am
This professor is very sarcastic and expects way too much from his students. The average exam grades in the class were 60's. I went to class every day and would read the textbook, and still, you have to work really hard to even get a passing grade. I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone.
Professor Workinger does give off a nonchalant attitude like he doesn't care. He's super sarcastic. His exams and quizzes are a bit difficult because it'll cover stuff that he says during his lectures. He will call out students for sleeping or being on their phones so beware. Best way to pass the class is to get help from others students.
Dr. Workinger has an attitude and swears, but it's hilarious and makes him easy to approach as a professor. He lectures every class, & be sure to write things that aren't on the slide. He doesn't give out study guides, so make sure to know something about everything. He's very knowledgeable & excited to teach and that makes his class easy and fun.
Expectations are too high. Doesn't respect his own rubric. I mentioned that I followed his rubric and he explained that it needs to be updated, told me what was required for similar assignments, but didn't give me credit on that assignment for his mistake. If you want to read alot, be nit picked at on assignments, and learn nothing than go for it.
I really like the guy. Its challenging, but I took this class as a senior and it's really not that much more difficult than my upper level classes. Just be sure to listen to lectures and write down notes. The power points alone don't tell you everything. He's really funny and likes to engage with his students so just relate with him and have fun!
THE WORST TEACHER UTC HAS. Could not be worst. Only grades are tests and quizzes. No makeups ever. His teaching is mediocre at best and his online PowerPoints offer nothing that is expected to be known on the exams. Having tests and quizzes as the only grades is ridiculous, not every one is a good test taker. Ruined my Gpa for a gen ed.
1. Don't buy the book. 2. Dr. Workinger is an awesome person but his class expectations are ridiculous to me. The only grades you get in the class are pop quizzes and exams. He doesn't do extra credit. If you do not go to class and pay attention, you simply won't succeed.
Workinger is a fantastic professor! Your grade will pretty much be made up with 3 Exams and 1 weekly quiz. I had his class for a Tuesday/Thursday at 9:25 and absolutely loved his class! He doesn't "take" attendance but you will want to try and go to every lecture for notes. Your grade will reflect the work you put in for his course, simple as that.
Professor Workinger is hilarious and makes class enjoyable. Dont buy the book. 2 exams and a final. If you go to class and take notes you will do just fine you just have to show up. He does do 5 question pop quizzes. Great guy
Don't get me wrong, his classes aren't easy. However, his lectures are super entertaining and engaging, as he is a wildly funny story teller. Be prepared to write down everything he says because it is all free game for the exams and he doesn't write everything down himself. He's super knowledgeable and you will learn a lot if you put in the effort.
I really enjoyed the archaeology class. Its not easy, but the lectures are interesting. His sense of humor is definitely an acquired taste. Some of the stuff he says is very out there (lots of making jokes about his wife or weight). Over all I really enjoyed the course and i'd take him again.
Dr. Workinger is a great professor with lighter courseload. The three exams and 7 quizzes are made pretty easy provided you read the assigned text. Quizzes are 5 questions long and pop quizzes, however you can usually tell when they'll be. Textbook can be found on Libgen and He is accessible and helpful in his office hours. Would take again
You have to put forth effort.
Professor Workinger is a great professor. His class is just difficult because your grade is based off of mostly quizzes and exams and 2 assignments. His lectures are very informative, but definitely need to READ the textbooks.
I've had Professor Workinger for a few classes now and I can honestly say he is the best professor I have had. He cares about the content and his students and is an amazing lecturer. All you need to do well in his courses is show up, pay attention, and take notes. Just try your best and he is happy to work with you if you are struggling. 10/10
Professor Workinger is an amazing professor, he really seems to care about the content he is teaching and despite being lecture heavy, I never once found it hard to pay attention. He expects you to pay attention and do the readings, so TAKE NOTES over everything he touches on. He does have pop quizzes but most of the time he gave in-class warnings.
He's funny, cheerful, and it's easy to succeed in his class. If you simply show up and pay attention, you will have no problem with the pop quizzes and exams. Great guy!
This is my second course with Professor Workinger. His lectures are very interactive and fun, but there are a lot of tests. The tests are pretty easy and only 5 questions. He says really whacky stuff sometimes, but really cares
If you're going to take this class I would advise you to take it with someone else or online. I had a difficult time in his class. I dropped his course halfway through because I had trouble comprehending what he was teaching and how it was being taught. He is a good person and cares about his job, but his teaching methods didn't work for me.
I found Professor Workinger to be very challenging during my freshmen year, and I struggled to keep up with the course material. The class I had during my freshmen year was very hard *swears a lot *class was very hard *ADA kinda does not apply unless you have the DRC help you *Only could get quizzes at 7:30 AM when your class was at 8:00
Professor Workinger is a really fun teacher! He cares a lot and knows a lot about his subject. However, he has very few assignments so if you mess up on one exam it will be extremely hard to make it up. Also, a lot of the test/quiz material is from the textbook so make sure to keep up with the reading.
I love the professor, but the class itself was difficult. Workinger is hilarious and makes class super entertaining, however, there are very few grades other than 2 tests, a few pop quizzes, and an essay or two, so if you fail a test it's very difficult to get back on track. As long as you keep up with dates you should be fine.
Professor Workinger isn't a terrible professor. He's funny and his lectures are interesting. You are graded on very few things, the majority of which are pop quizzes. We get behind a lot cause he lets students talk too much and interrupt him as he lectures which gets very annoying. Especially at 8am. Take another professor if you can.
He isn't a bad professor. However, he gives short pop quizzes that easily bring down your grade, half of the tests are written, he takes attendance that is part of your grade (which is frustrating for an 8am). He's funny and jokes during his lectures, but you have to be there to write down what he's saying b/c his powerpoints are mostly pictures.
He's good at lecturing and posts all the PowerPoints online, but your entire grade is based off of tests and pop quizzes you didn't see coming. He has like one extra credit assignment but it was an out-of-class activity and it only counted for one point. He has zero assignments for you to fall back on if you don't do good on the tests quizzes.
I found his lectures to be very interesting and he is really funny. Be ready for pop quizzes he does them a lot but if you pay attention in class and do the reading you will be fine. I will say he does not give a lot of assignments so when he does I recommend doing as well as you can on it so you have some cushion in case you fail a quiz.
He has phenomenal lectures and presents the content in a way that is easy to understand. The textbook isn't vital.
Funny guy, this class was for humanity credit and I was not interested in it at all. But he makes it somewhat entertaining. I liked hearing all his stories. If i was a anthropology or archeology major I would take his classes again for sure. Attendance not taken but pop quizzes were given so you may as well show up.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!! Workinger is the worst professor I've ever had. He gives no homeworks to help your grade, only confusing pop quizzes with only 5 questions and 2 tests that cannot be dropped. He curses a lot in class and doesn't have a good teaching style. Lots of information is on the test that he doesn't discuss and book barely explains.
Tests might be very difficult. There are about 3-4ish outside assignments that barely saved my grades.
While I was initially charmed by his lectures, the second month of classes left a lot to be desired in terms of content. Beware of pop quizzes based solely on the readings and essay questions not discussed in class. For the love of your sanity, steer clear of this class! Unless you can read 3 chapters about digging methods in one night, stay away!
Study!!!!!!
He is a nice professor who genuinely seems like a great guy if you can match his personality. BUT he has 2 exams, a paper, and a final that make up almost the entire grade. Any other points can only be made through pop quizzes that barely raise your grade at all by a percent. He likes to try to trick you with questions on the exam so be careful.
Great professor who is amazing at talking about his hobbies and passions of anthropology and archeology. Take his class
He is a nice professor who is passionate about his hobbies. But his grading is terrible and you can only make points through exams that have trick questions. If you value your gpa and life DO NOT tale this class and STAY AWAY.
Made class story time, memorize the lecture points and reading and you'll do fine, I completed most tests in 20 mins or less and received an A. His class is truly interesting and he is PASSIONATE, amazing guy, very likable.
Dr. Workinger is a funny, kind professor who's passionate about what he does. Teaching style didn't suit me. His slides are photo heavy, so there's not much to write. What he says can be written down, but he moves a bit fast. The lack of things that are graded make it really easy to tank your grade. Only 3 exams, handful of pop quizzes, 1 paper.
Honestly, I failed this class on my own. If you do the readings and go to class each time, you will pass. He was very easy to listen to and explained everything well. It is a hard class to take in terms of not knowing anything about the field prior, but if you find it interesting you will succeed.
A good professor and nice guy, but tough grader. Attendance isn't mandatory, but there also isn't much opportunity to catch up if you fall behind. The class moves fast and it's up to you to keep up. Written tests and strict grading.
Dr. Workinger is such a funny guy. His class is really interesting, and you're able to joke around with him. However, the textbook reading is a bit much, and sometimes the questions on the pop quizzes weren't talked about in previous lectures.
his lectures are super entertaining, they made me want to get up for my 9:30 even though attendance wasn't mandatory! beware of pop quizzes and make sure to read the textbooks.
Dr.Workinger is a genuinely nice and funny professor but the pop quizzes are horrendous. As a stem major, I have to plan my studying pretty tightly and never knowing when I was going to be asked to know something by was a constant nuisance. Also, the quizzes are five questions long and 1/5 was always from the ALWAYS TOO LONG reading.
Great professor. Lectures are interesting and keep me engaged. Attendance is not mandatory but if you do not show up you miss lots of information. He posts the slides but only 10 words on a slide. Incredibly funny and will jokingly banter with students. Answers any question about or not about the material. About to take my third course with him.
Dr. Workinger is a great lecturer; he slips humor in wherever he can and keeps most of us engaged. Do beware of pop quizzes; sometimes he mentions them the class before, and sometimes not. That's where the majority of your grade comes from. For exams, study the slideshows because that's most of the test. Take good notes and you'll be fine!
Sad im finishing up my minor; I only had this one class with him and wish I could have taken more. Enjoyable and humorous lectures which are actually engaging. A tough grader but in the most reasonable way and what I would argue is the sweet spot for level of challenge. You will have to work hard for an A but it is not impossible.
I see many reviews saying this was a 'hard' class and 'do not take this class', but many students that say that most likely just did not want to put in effort and try. This is a heavy class, but he's a good professor, many students who did poorly, did not do well on their own accord. Not because he was not a good educator or it was 'his fault'.
Andrew Workinger was a super tough grader, and the pop quizzes consist of only 5 questions, so miss one and you're already not doing well. There is hardly any homework to bring up your grade, only tests and quizzes. The lectures are long and have a lot of information, but if you focus and take notes, you will do fine.
