Very good marketing teacher.
He is an excellent professor, I took 3 different classes with him and enjoyed all of them.
He is a good Prof. I think that he can be even better someday.
great professor!! easy going! Very smart!!
Great Professor...Take him at any costs..You will definitely get an A !! No doubt...Just do your work!
BEST PROFESSOR IN THIS SCHOOL. FUN, COOL, AND SMART. EVERYONE LOVES HIS CLASSES.
Great professor...though he's kind of disorganized. But take it, he's very smart and very fair. Knows what he's taking about. Excellent marketing professor.

I've taken 4 classes with Yap for a reason. He's the best teacher ever! He's super smart, cool, funny and VERY undertanding. He's very fair and has a very easy going yet disciplined style of teaching. You can't get anything less than a B if you do your work. LOVE HIM!
He's absolutely alot of fun. Definitely know his stuff and makes his class very interesting. He's fair and it's a definite A if u do his work.
He's ok, but he's the CEO of his company and teaches 10 classes at FIU. Not gonna work! Terrible communication, but a good professor and man. He understands students and, since he himself has a lot of work, he cuts some slack on us. Still haven't finished the semester, only 5 more weeks left. Lord bless him!
He is very understanding, but poor communcation.he is easy....quizzes are simple..
I took this class fully online - there are 5 quizes directly out of the book which aren't hard at all. Then there are a few assingments but since que doesn't really care about the class he will give you two assingments that are not hard at all. I reccomend this class if you just want an easy class .
Class A procrastinator because of the amount of work he puts himself under. Do not expect good communication, but do expect his fairness. He's ok, just know that this is when students need to employ the "learn from the book" approach. Take him online as much as you can so you don't have to drive to school just to find out he won't be there!
do not take him ever he cares more about his company than teaching. sucks
WITHOUT A DOUBT OR QUESTION, FIU'S SLACKER, IRRESPONSIBLE TEACHER... AND YES, HE CARES MORE ABOUT HIS COMPANY AND NEGLECTS US! INCREDIBLE! DISASTER! IF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR LEARNING AND LIKE TO STRESS OUT IN THE END, TAKE HIM; OTHERWISE, FORGET HIM.
Great Teacher! Very Clear and the Final is very easy. No text required. Keeps you entertained, awake, and teaches you only what you need to know with a great personality.
I agree with others in the fact he is disorganized (grades were due May 3 and he did not turn his in yet, so I am now showing an incomplete due to this which affects my GPA). However, he is very fair and understanding. He will not make you rush to complete assignments he posted late, he will just drop them, very smart and an overachiever, great prof
easy he is great if you are taking six classes. you dont have to worry
No good. Come on, this type of professors should not be professors to begin with!
Excellent Professor, super easy going, no homeworks, just one big group project (which is cool!) I had him for MAN4602 during Fall 2007
Dude you have to take this professor. I believe he is one of the best. He keeps the material very interesting and instead of my falling asleep during lectures like most of my professors this is one of the few that I would love to leave work and go to class. This Professor makes the class very interesting that we stay up the whole evening and listen
Very good professor. Easy assignments and good to get along with.well I had him in campus not sure how he is online. Highly reccomend A+++.
The best Marketing professor out there in FIU. Just do the assignments and you will 4 sure pass. Class is excellent well atleast with this professor.
Best out there. Fiu #1.
I finish taking him spring 08. His test are way too hard. Otherwise class is really slack. He does curve aswell. Im gettting a B+. Easy class if taking 5 classes. Like 3 assignments 1 group project and 2 test the whole semester. Slack like me easy B.
Professor Yap is the CEO of a multimillion dollar company. He teaches part time and has a passion for teaching. He really knows his stuff. Only thing I didnt like about his class was his traveling. Being a business man, he had to travel twice to meetings during a 6 week summer course. Otherwise very good.
avoid taking him online he sux, he takes forever to email you back his grading is unfair his horrible!
I tooked this class fully online in Summer A and it was extremely hard. I do not recommend taking him at all. If you want to learn or get an A take another professor.
I took him summer A and did 2 10% quizzes in which I got both an A in, worked my a%# off in a project, did all the assignments and in the end I got a B. Please don't take him he's not very helpful.
Terrible professor, 1 semester projects which is terrible, quizzes hard ass hell which dont make sense. Impossible to get a good grade in his class. DeF DO NOT RECCOMEND!!F- PROFESSOR.
Dude this guy takes a long time to write back. His exams are from hell. Just not a good professor watsoever, his class is way too hard he needs to lighten up this is not harvard!!!
HORRIBLE professor. I don't know why FIU would employ someone who doesn't know the meaning of communication, as an online professor. Not helpful at all!!!!
I took his class online and it was extremely hard. Take it with someone else if you want to pass. He is not responsive and when you ask him for help that word doesn't exist in his brain.
took the class online. the guy was barely present the whole semester. all of our quizzes were messed up, not on time, not available, etc. at least the work was not hard
I took this professor for Man4065 for spring and Mar4144 for summer A. He is an excellent teacher when it comes to knowing the material he actually makes the class and subject really clear. However, his test are like where the hell did he get them from, I am not sure how he is with an online course but as for on campus classes I give him a B+.
one of the best professors at FIU. His class is interactive and never boring. The bad side is that there is a lot of material but it is not hard. The textbook you have to read. However, AN AWESOME PROFESSOR I WOULD TAKE HIM AGAIN AND I RECOMMEND TAKING HIM
This prof is one of the best! expert in his field, know how to teach. Read assignments, attend all classes and study to do well.Super-fair and very rewarding always available to explain or discuss any problem.Excellent teacher one of the best.
Great Professor! Probably one of the best professors at FIU! He is extremely fair and nice, and most of all.. not boring like many other professors. His lectures are always interesting and creative, making you want to be there. He is very knowledgeable in his field.. overall A+ professor! Highly recommended to anyone! :)
Professor Yap did a good job teaching Int Marketing. He gave incredible test reviews and tied in a project, which forces you to learn the whole semester. He was also willing to meet with me and go over the Exam. I'm grateful to him. I advise taking him if possible.
Very smart guy, the best professor, he teaches what is really important to know in relation to Int Marketing, he makes the class very fun, and explain excellent. If you need to take this class choose him, I really recommend this professor. Always care about the students, don?t take any other professor.
He is really good & funny but do not expect to know where you stand in the class until the last day. He takes forever to respond to his emails also.
One online mid-term, 1 in class final. One big semester project, 1 current event, 1 mini group assignment and 1 other assignment. Don't be fool - the class isn't easy although there isn't a lot of work. Takes a long time to reply to e-mails.
One of the best professors from FIU, he knows the material and is an excellent professor. One of the classes you ACTUALLY learn. I would recommend him 100% and take him again if I can. You have chances to get a good grade: quizzes, assignments, case analysis, project, final! Don't even think about it!
Prof. Yap is an asset to the FIU community. He is extremely helpful. I took him online, and when I couldn't make it to the on-campus midterm, he was kind enough to call me back and ask me when would be best for me to take it online. Hard class with tests every week and a huge project, and one Internet assignment, but you learn alot.
I took Prof.Yap for Summer A fully online. The class is Very fast paced, but he is a great professor. This is definitely not an 'easy A'. Have to do all the readings for the quizzes and the midterm and final, but if you do, no need to worry. There was a marketing project as well. The professor is very helpful & understanding thought.Highly recommen
i took it online.. it was a lot of work. a quiz each week. an internet assignment and big final project. he answers all your questions..the midterm was in class but final was online.
Very brilliant and inspiring professor. Class isnt easy but none the less you are able to pass with a good grade. You have quizzes, exams, internet assignment etc...... Over all great professor highly reccomend to everyone. A++ to Professor Yap :-)
Took on-line crisis management. Professor was pretty much never there...feedback was non existent took him forever to post grades - 3+ weeks after submitting assignments. Expect to learn material on your own in this professor's online class.
Took his class online. The only e-mail he responded to timely was at the very end of the semester regarding our grades. We received no feedback on our assignments. I was looking forward to this class based on the ratings on here, but I really wish I hadn't taken it. I did well in the class, but he was very rarely online and very incommunicative.
I am currently taking his class online in Summer A 2010 and i have to say FIU needs more professors like him. He is extremely helpful, responds to e-mails within 48 hours, if students need more time to complete a project he gladly extends the due date. The class is fast paced, 2 projects, 4 quizzes, midterm and cumulative final.
Not helpful at all.
One week left in class and have received no grades yet. Online class, but had an on campus midterm. Best to stay away from this one.
The professor never returns emails and takes all semester to grade your assignment and exam. Dont expect to get any grades until the last day of school. On campus Midterm on a full online class, test was not difficult is you study, essay form with two group projects and daily/weekly postings. But with no grades you are unable to see your progress.
He take a long time to return email; Grades are posted late... if ever; midterm on campus, final is online; group semester project is not too hard.
this professor would have been great if he managed his time better. he stretches himself way too much and doesnt interact with the students enough. it would take weeks for a response by email(fiu or blcbrd)and grades arent posted in time for you to question. test aren't hard but the communication is terrible. he has too many responsibilities.
professor is hot as hell, but very irresponsible, does not grade work, does not respond email, does not post grades, does not clarify confussion. This class is a dissaster
Very good professor! Learned a lot in his class. Gives you a project thats very hands on. The project even helped me get an internship during the semester. Take him if you want an A.
Professor Yap is GREAT! Keeps the class interesting and fun. He interacts with his students and gives reviews for the midterm and final. There's a group project and you'll learn a lot if you're with the right ppl. Study his reviews, come to class and you'll get an A.
The professor is one of the best at FIU. His class is interactive, he makes it fun and but at the same time he gains a respect. I like his interaction with class. Consumer B. is interesting subject.Enjoy his class. Take him if you can. :)
Take him if you can. He will help you pass the class. Gives reviews for exams. If you study the reviews and do your work, you'll pass with an A.
Best professor ever! I have taken 2 classes with him and im taking the third in fall. He is very helpful and understands his students. Take him you won't regret it!
One of the best professors in FIU. His class is interactive, he is both fun and knowledgeable. He brings lots of experience as a working executive, CEO of a local corporation. He is helpful and understands his students. Take him you won't regret it! Gives reviews for exams. If you study the reviews and do your work, you'll pass with an A
He's alright.. Two group projects that are fairly easy, more people in your group less work. Around 4 'quizzes' which are like exams with around 50 questions. Never read the book but i did meet up with some classmates to take quizzes together! Questions are straight out of the book but very difficult and tedious, managed to get a B
He is ok. He would give you an extension on the due dates if you have a good reason. Test are as anticipated in the review. Good luck!
he is very inspiring and motivational
Took this class online and it was quite simple. 2 online quizzes, midterm essay on campus exam, 1 internet assignment ( which was easy, you can work in groups but I did it myself and got 100) 1 semester project ( also work in groups) and an online final. He grades nicely. The class isn't super easy but it's not that challenging either.
This professor is HORRIBLE to take online during the summer. We had everything a normal fall semester had crammed into 6 weeks. Class had 45 students at the start, 3 weeks in we are at 22. This effects YOU because you are assigned group members. If they drop you cant join other groups resulting in an F. Tests ARE EXTREMELY hard. No review or notes.
This is has got to be the worst online course I have taken at FIU. Prof. Yap doesn't answer messages, never explains any assignments and is definitely not a good teacher. I have taken over 30 online courses and never had a problem. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS TEACHER! His midterm and final are worth 60% of your grade and are IMPOSSIBLE!!!
Very smart and easy going. He makes the class fun and his assignments are ok. The only thing I didn't like is how he weighed certain assignments. A five page case analysis 5% ??? That's crazy! But overall good professor take him if you can!
My one of favorite professor. Enjoys teaching, works great with us (students) and always is always in positive mood. The assignments are fair. Nothing crazy.
Good interesting teacher. He's really helpful. The only thing is he has a big group project. I was unfortunate to be stuck with 4 people who were unwilling to work he took that into consideration when grading because he gives group evaluations. Class was at 6:40 am in the morning so I was tired but he helped make it bearable. Be ready to work.
He is not hard, Quizzes are hard but the exams are not hard and they are 60% of the class. He will try to help you to make a good grades
Does not explain anything. GROUP PROJECTS that involve a lot of work. EXAMS ARE VERY DIFFICULT.
I took MAN 4602 with Prof Yap and I really enjoyed the class. Class lectures are long, but very informative. If you study the powerpoint that he sends and study the review, you will surely pass. He has a lot of knowledge of the subject, and is a fair grader. He also gives a good amount of extra credit. I highly recommend taking him.
I took him for a 6 week course and I thought the class was intense with regard to coursework. The material is really common sense though so it was not hard to study but there was a lot. There is an on campus midterm (8 chapters!), 2 case studies due each week (about 2 pages each) and 1 quiz per week. He's an easy grader though, so I recommend him.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE. Every week there is a quiz, which requires reading 3 chapters (60 pages), plus occasional assignments (3 total) that require watching 2 hour documentaries. On top of that, the exams are NOT based on the quizzes, but on separate articles poorly scanned and converted to pdf (+100 pages per exam). Waste of time.
Great professor and very good class. Expect to do some work to earn that A. This is def NOT an easy A. 10 tests, 9 discussion posts, a group project, and 2 written assignments. He also gives extra credit. He opens everything up at the beginning of the semester so you could theoretically finish the class in the first month. Do not fall behind!
Do not take this professor online! 19% of the grade is for a group project where he breaks students up into groups and makes them compete against each other for a grade. Only 1/3 of the class is able to get an A on this assignment. He also takes a very long time to return to emails and does not grade assignments or provide feedback quickly.
26% written midterm exam, 26% written final exam, 26% group project.... Not the easiest class I have ever taken at FIU, but Prof. Yap understands that his exams contain a lot of material and is a very lenient grader. He is a very funny and tries to keep his lectures as interesting as possible. Knows his material very well.
Yap was Awesome ,is very clear and to the point. I took a hybrid course with him. He gives reviews for the test and if you follow exams you are sure to do well. i studied the day of the midterm and got a 86 and i studied the day before the final and got a 95 because i used his review study guide .Worth taking not a harsh grader, caring, understanding
I've had Professor Yap for 3 courses and I would take him for more if I could. He's tough but fair and really knows business. Anyone who complains about him is lazy and unwilling to work. How easy do you want your FIU education to be peeps? Group project is tough but I learned a ton. Wish all profs were like him.
I do not recommend this professor. I took this class online during summer B because I had no choice and it was the worse mistake ever. He should not be teaching this class. EXAMS ARE DIFFICULT. You've been warned, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!!
Great Professor. 10/10 Would Take Again. Best the FIU Marketing Program can offer.
This was a semester of firsts: the first time I took an online class where a professor did not answer a single email, the first time I had to wait 6 weeks for one assignment to be graded (still waiting on the others), and the first time I've almost lost my mind studying for an exam. AVOID THIS PROF @ ALL COSTS.
Had the pleasure of taking him this past spring and he was great. 4804 is not easy by any means, but if there is anyone to learn form its Professor Yap. Make it a point to learn the formulas early on in the course and you will do fine.
This class is the hardest class indeed, but his guidelines made the class so much easier. Took him for summer B. The class consisted of midterm 30%, final 35%, group simulation (basically a game) 21%, six group memos 6%, group case analysis 5%, and two individual activities 3%. He gave us clear guidelines on how to prepare for exams and assignments
Easy peasy class. Lots of reading yes, articles of 10-35 pgs and chapter readings of 40 pages, quizzes based on the book, tests based on the articles, web assignments formatted as multiple choice questions. No need for interacting with the prof., but from e-mails, he seems to be a really cool/understanding professor
Honestly one of the nicest professor at FIU. I highly recommend you take him, he cares about his students and wants to help you do well on the class! Two tests, one group project, online quizzes. Easy class and great professor! Would definitely take again !
Professor Yap is amazing! Midterm and Final are proctored or on campus, however, he gives you a study guide for each. Yes you do have to study, but he is very helpful and understanding. He is definitely one of the best professors I have had at FIU!
Mr. Yap is a great lecturer and proves that he is an expert on the topics he talks about. His negative traits are that he never answers emails, he will read them and talk about them in class but won't respond directly to students, and he takes forever to change things in the course he promised to change. Easy A though and would take again.
Andrew Yap is one of the most inspiring professors I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Do yourself a favor and take his class. You will not regret it, not to mention, all his lectures are fun and so easy to understand. He's hilarious too!
Ok, he is nice, a very nice person. A good professor?? not really. He just reads off the power points, so if you just want to do the work by yourself and not learn anything take him. I had this intro to marketing class to actually learn but i had nothing. And dont get me wrong I still got an A on this class but honestly I did not learn a thing.
Global learning class so half was online. Professor was awesome, best I've had in FIU. Material is not hard by any means but he still made his LONG lectures as interesting as possible. Quizzes all online and were very easy. Midterm and final were in class and were standard multiple choice. His reviews were simple, but by no means is class hard.
Professor Yap has been one of my favorite Professors in Marketing. He really knows how to keep the class engaged and is determined to see his students succeed. The class was manageable and the tests were pretty difficult, but with the right amount of studying you can definitely pass!
Just the norm. Took the the class in 6 weeks. Tests are heavy. Midterm and Finals are worth 65% of the class.
This class is hard all in it self, a big portion of your grade is the proctored midterm and final that are all essay styled questions and the marketplace simulation. It is not too hard but you have to put in the effort and the work to pass.
Summer B. Easy grader. Group simulation, one memo per week + simulation. 1 financial exercises assignment, 1 company analysis. 1 Group analysis. Midterm and Final the same as exercises, and reading a 10+ pg case and writing an analysis.(READ IT BEFORE TEST or you wont have time). Recommend taking MT and Final ProctorU.
Good professor. Slow grader, but relatively easy grader. Focus on Midterm and Final, they are 65% of your grade. Financial exercises + case analysis, you should read the case before the exam or you wont have enough time to finish. Take it online, so you can type instead of handwriting. You'll work in a group entire semester
Nice guy, but the class is heavy on group simulations which you have to pay for... Midterm and Final make up over 60% of your grade and have nothing to do with the simulation. Test are half case study, and financial questions. Slow grader but this may be because the class was online.
Great online class. Videos and books were very interesting. Quizzes every week on the readings were not hard at all. Midterm and Final are based on articles the professor provides.
Most of this class is done in a group. You have some financial questions that need to be done but he gives everyone 100%. Midterm and Final are proctored so you need to study. They are difficult and based on the financial questions and case study. He lets you print the case before and a formula sheet but its hard.
Yap was hands down the best professor I had this semester. There is a group project, two quizzes, and two exams and if you study the vocab it's an easy A. His lectures are interesting and he is really funny. Really recommend taking him!
He made the class so much fun. Only 2 tests in the entire semester 25% of your grade, they are from 50-80 questions but don't be alarmed. His review is EXACTLY what goes on the test, letter by letter, a bunch of definitions and fill in the blank. The usual group projects plus its all really fun. Take him he's awesome
Prof Yap is a cool guy. Class was easy. We had three online quizzes (easy to find the answers on quizlets online), a midterm in person or proctored online (probably the only hard-ish thing), a brochure assignment (just tedious), a group marketing proposal project (not bad since it's paced through the semester) and an online final. Overall, easy A.
Very annoying professor. Makes the class more difficult than it needs to be. DOES NOT TEACH! He basically gives you a review of what the financial questions are on the midterm & final and you use that for both of them. Plus a weekly simulation that is done in group. This class was really annoying and invested too much time into. AVOID AT ALL COST!
Professor Yap is good professor who does not look forward to falling you. I did not use the textbook.
The semester project was the only thing that made me think before taking this prof, little did I know I even ended up doing it solo. Best decision, the grading criteria for solo is very lax, it might seem allot, but if you just follow the example and just fill in what pertains to your company, it's easy 100. Same thing for internet assignment.
This class is hard but I really learned a lot and enjoyed it, especially the simulation game. Make sure to pick a good group as most work will be with them. Practice the financial questions thoroughly and read/plan for each case analysis prior to the exams. You have to put in the work, but its very doable. He is a relatively easy grader if you try
Not much to say about him. The course is basically uploaded and everything is DIY. Also worth mentioning the midterm is the hardest as it is proctored in person or online for a fee. All in all, this class is a teach it yourself and turn in the work type of class. Professor doesn't really have much to offer and grading is generous-ish.
The professor tends to overload the class with busy work, which is okay if the outcome was somehow related to the course you are taking. But our biggest problem was a lack of follow-up and follow-through. Professor consistently promised to grade things by a set date, and then one excuse after the other until graded. It is sad to see a business
Only 2 tests throughout the course. So, if you'd bad grade on the Mid-Term worth 30% of your grade, chances are you'll end up with a C as I did, even though I did good on the final. These 2 proctored test, (someone checking your face, your room, etc). Answering all the writing questions was almost impossible. Would not recommend. No extra credits
This is my second time I take this professor and I love his teaching style. He actually teaches marketing and does real life scenarios for his students to get into their real professions.
Yap can take well over a week to get back to students if he does at all. Grades are mostly based on multi-chapter (5-8) exams given once every 3 to 5 weeks. There are no quizzes or homework assignments to check how well you're understanding the material or use to improve your grade. The papers are easy enough. Definitely avoid Yap.
Professor Yap makes this class harder than it needs to be. Midterm and Final are worth a large % of grade so if you do bad on one, you'll end up with a C or lower. He does give partial credit for trying on exam questions, so be sure to answer all of them. This is the hardest class that I've taken at FIU. Takes forever to grade.
Homework is super simple. Requires group work but very easy assignments. On the other hand the exams are IMPOSSIBLE. Extremely long and tedious exams. Feels like you are set up to FAIL given that they are worth a large part of your grade.
Summer term, 6 weeks course. Class is hard and he makes it way too complicated. You have to complete simulation in groups, write weekly memos. Tests proctored, really hard and impossible, no multiple choice and the answers have to be in essay format, you also need to write all the formulas for the financial questions. He takes forever to grade.
His exams are 4 hours long and all hand written which wasn't so great, but he is a flexible grader I promise. I ended up getting a B on both exams thinking I didn't even pass. Just study the cases and have an understanding of the models, but what really matters is the financial questions. Homework is very easy, just submit something & you get a 100
This class is legit hell. Although I'm passing this class, it feels like I'm fighting for my life. The exams are LONG (4 hours long to be exact). He schedules exams in the evening, which sucks if you're someone who just wants to get stuff over with. He does offer partial credit for his exams, but it's just not worth the stress.
If you're taking his class online do not take this professor. Not only does he expects too much work in a short period of time. He is also extremely late on replies.
If you are a marketing major and wanna learn in this class, take it online. Only reason why I gave this guy a 2 instead of 1 was because it was easy to get good grades and cheat. 3 quizzes (4 chapters each) midterm honorlock (10 chapters) final open notes(12 chapters), few assignments, easy group project. Easy stuff, no lectures, teach yourself
He makes things so unnecessarily difficult. He expects so much within an 8 week program, it is ridiculous. No wonder he is the last professor for the program; had he been the first, I am confident there would be a high dropout rate. The workload and expectations are ridiculous and discouraging for an exec learning program. Avoid this teacher!!!
Demands are unreasonable within an 8 week curriculum. He makes things unnecessarily difficult. For an executive graduate program, his class demands are absurd. His course is over the top stressful& headaches due to the unreasonable demands that are all over the place. . After 3 BS degrees & 1 grad degree, he is the WORST professor I have EVER taken
There was one assignment, group project and quizzes, midterm and exam. Basically, if you are not a good test taker, I would not recommend this class. The assignments have a small percentage. Your grade is based on the exams. The Midterm was Honorlock so be aware and study hard. The final was 125 questions. I felt that was extreme.
Quizzes are pretty long for quizzes. Exams are ridiculously long, midterm was 80 questions and final was 125 questions! The project is long, try to do it in a RELIABLE group. The discussion and internet assignment was easy. There's an extra credit assignment which bumps you up 1% up which does help if you're really close to the next letter grade
Professor Yap is nice and extended a couple assignments in case students needed more time. There is a midterm (80 questions, Honorlock), a final (125 questions, NOT Honorlock), Group Project (7-11 pages) due at end of term, and Discussions. The discussions are easy and the final is open notes. I was able to get an A without paying much attention.
Professor Yap's class has a pretty straightforward setup - quizzes, exams, and a group project. The exams are long but manageable with proper preparation. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for efficient study sessions. Overall, it's a reasonable class if you stay on top of the work.
He was my first class during my graduate program. At first, seemed intense, but he's a really nice guy, he listens, and respects students. He creates open discussions where he welcomes everyone's feedback without pushbacks. During assignments, I provided why I chose an answer over the other, and if it made sense, he credited the grade.
