He's really funny and makes the class exciting. He gives you alot of feed back on your papers and whenever you need help, just stop by his office. I would recommend you to take his class.

he's a good teacher, at the beginning his instructions were a bit vague & hard to follow but as the classes progress you understand what he means by certain assignments & his expectations are clarified. the class is great, i wish he was teaching 112. take the class, the work load is light & the class is like a big discussion. he's a great teacher!

Very passionate teacher. He's all about being bold with writing, but supporting it. He helped me get into the class this semester, and I'm so glad that I did. He's worth it. Take his class. You won't be disappointed.

Had him last year (not sure if he's still teaching). Real good teacher, makes class fun and was pretty easy. Class is basically full of discussions on the literature/stories you read. Most of the papers i wrote got an A/B and i hate writing so if you get the chance he's a pretty cool teacher to have.

Very energetic! Loves teaching and makes class interesting. If you can take him, do it. I feel like I can write better because of the class.

I had him last year and he really teaches you how to write better. I still use his strategies to write an introduction and a thesis. The lectures were interesting especially grammar. I never knew that I actually liked grammar. Lastly, he is big on attendance and revisions. You can miss a few classes, but that's it. & he's easier on revisions.

Totally HOT! Extra nice and very helpful. Give 4 essay assignments which he gives you a chance to rewrite if you are not satisfied with your grade. Gives some quizzes. He is funny and did I say hot?

This is my third creative creative writing course (first time was GMU; second time was the Annandale campus). His class/teaching is so MUCH better than those other "professors." For someone who is young (at least looks young),he knowns a lot about writing. He gives great tips and techniques to help your fiction. He cares about helping you publish.

Great teacher! Super helpful. I don't know what that other person is talking about. He makes everything fun and enjoyable. I took his morning class. Totally worth it. The only thing I can think of is the fact that he takes attendance. He's strick about that, but he really wants to help. Take him if you can.

He has been my best academic experience to date. I'm now at JMU, and the professors just don't have the same energy and creativity. He was the only one who took the time with my writing--showed me how and why it works, and why it's so important. He's the reason why I'm studying English specifically Journalism.

Mr. Young is an AMAZING teacher. He is extremely helpful and fun. The writing assignments he gives are simple and helped my writing a bunch. He really cares and knows his writing. Take his class, he's great!

Creative writing class was solid. He's big into writing styles and developing the craft and voice. There wasn't a textbook. Student writings became the class text. Innovative and helpful teacher. You just have to ask. I'd definitely recommend him if you are serious about writing.

Took his online class a few semesters ago. He stresses thesis statements and textual evidence. I liked his style. He let us revise each paper, which I find atypical, and his comments were helpful. I've never been an online class person, but he's clear and willing to help if you ask for it. He also responds quickly to emails, which is always a plus

Very easy class. You have about 4 papers throughout semester. The lab portion of the class is pretty much were you type your papers. Attendance is pretty necessary because he gives random pop quizes that are 5 questions long but are no brainers, it's usually about stuff that he just went over but if you miss the class he wont let you make it up.

He is EASY! and AMAZING... thats all there is to it!

It is mandatory, and if you aren't there, it will affect your grade. I should've had an A but he gave me a B. If you can't attend class, don't take it because he'll fail you.

the best english teacher i have had so far in collage, he takes the boringness out of english and makes it extremly intresting. if you show up and do your work he will give u a good grade. you only have 5 papers to write and a couple of quizzes. the class is basically very easy if u put in some effot.

I took his class in summer school. Very straight forward, and is willing to work with you. He also likes to drop the lowest 2 grades. Make sure you come to class, otherwise you might miss out on quizzes [end of the semester] Overall an excellent instructor. I recommend taking this course in the summer if you are dedicated.

If you don't have young. drop your class and wait a semester to take his class. You can tell he loves his "job."

Awesome. Seriously. English is for a lot of people but Andrew Young so enthusiastically makes it seem like it is easy. He makes you feel smart and you learn a lot. Most people don't realize how much he's stuffing into their brain.Take his class or youd really be missing out.

Very easy to get along with. Papers are very straightforward. He helps out during the whole writing process for each paper, and sits and talks with you one on one about it. He gives a chance to rewrite one paper, and only grades your ten best quizzes. He's very understanding and funny. Overall, a great guy.

Mr. Young will forever be one of my favorite teachers. He's so smart (it rubs off on you) and very sweet! He's very helpful and has a great sense of humor. I don't know what else to say really, I'm just so glad I took his class! I would take him for 112 if I could :(

I took him for Honors 111 and i'm so happy I did. He is a GREAT teacher. Very helpful and really wants you to learn and be interested in what he has to share. You do have to earn your grade but it's not very hard to do. I wrote some of the papers the day before they were due and received a B in his honors class.

I Loveeeee him!!! The greatest teacher! Laid back and easy to get along with. Even though he gives you alot of papers back to back he really is just trying to make you a better writer. He is not that hard either. Just do the work and you will be fine.

This guy is just plain awesome. Very helpful during the writing process. He lets you revise one essay of your choice for a better grade. Grading is easy, but the best thing is that he works with you as you write and leaves helpful/fun comments on your papers.

Very good professor! Basically if you are taking his 111/09 class, you actually do your homework/essays during lab which can really save you time doing homework for other courses. Mr. Young gives you student examples that'll definitely expand your mind of what you want to write. I highly recommend this professor to everyone!

What can I say...the guy is gorgeous, nice, funny and smart, and the class is super helpful. Do you really need to know anything else?

Mr. Young teaches with a passion. He follows the syllabus accurately, and communicates well with his students. He does not have a final test, but that could change. He lectures during the class and has a couple of quizzes. I believe there are 4 or 5 papers due that are not at all hard. He makes you want to learn more; I advise anyone to take him!!

You really can't ask for a better teacher. Even if you're dreading this class at first, Mr. Young will make it your favorite. He makes the lessons interesting and keeps the class laughing. He thoroughly walks the class through assignments. He gets to know each student individually and is always eager to help them in whatever ways they need.

Amazing and helpful teacher, if your taking english 111/09 he is probably one of the best. everything is clear, lecture is not boring. he is funny and lets you enjoy class. you have to attend the class though, you only get 2 unexcused absences. give you plenty of time to do homework in class so you don't have to take it home. BEST PROFESSOR EVER. YES guy is Gorgeous. The class is fun and easy. This class teacges you everything you need to know for your whole colledge carrier (as in writting skills). Definetely take him. You won't regret it.

He is a great teacher. I took his class my first semester and I got an A. Lot of research and essays but it helps build your knowledge and skills in the long run. He responds and gives good advice on each essay.

Class is pretty easy overall if you attend class and at least try not to wait until the last few days to do the essays. He does keep you engaged throughout the class. I would definitely take another one of his classes.

I'll begin by saying that I got a "C" in his class, and despite that, I still think he is the greatest teacher I have ever had. All the positive comments about him are spot on: he is passionate, funny, and knowledgeable. But he does NOT play when it comes to attendance and late work!! Despite my excuses, he didn't change my grade or let me revise!!

Professor Young is by far THE BEST Professor of English at NOVA! He is very specific as to what he expect from you and from all of the writing you will do. I took this class over the summer of 2014 and it was really fun!...Plus he is hot too, which is an added bonus!

just an all around cool guy. work is pretty straight forward. class may be long but his teaching style makes it seem easy breezy. just attend class and do your work and theres no reason not to get at least a B. He is very into helping the students. Thats if your taking ENG 111. ps. hes an amazing storyteller.

Mr. Young.. all around awesome professor! Funny too! His class was painless, essay requirements were pretty clear-cut, the assignment due dates were realistic and the topics were fun to write about. Show up on time, do all the work, and put effort into the essays and you will do great. Did not have to buy a textbook which was a plus of course. A++

Great professor. Helpful and caring. Pretty straight forward assignments. A lot of essays but he makes them easy.

He makes an hour and fifteen minutes fly by, and he has some of the most fascinating, relevant stories. As for reading, there is a lot! But it's interesting. And he gives a lot of writing!! You write a one page commentary on each reading, not to mention essays and projects. A challenge but I'm better a person and student bc of his class.

From those average and poor ratings I see way in the bottom doesn't make any sense xD But I think Andrew Young had been one of the best English teachers I ever had!!! His essays are interesting, he cares about his students, and I was blown that I cant take him for 112!!! He makes class fun and I sometimes go to him for any English or essay advice.

He is an outstanding professor who actually cares about making sure the information put forth in class is understood. Helps with anything needed by student from him. Loves helping you after class. He is always upbeat and funny. Show up for all classes on time, cut cell phones off, pay close attention in class, do ALL work and assignments on time.

All I can say is Mr. Young is just an amazing professor. He will walk you through every step. Always positive, gives good feedback on each assignment. Highly recommend him.

BEST ENGLISH PROFESSOR! seriously he will walk you through every step, give amazing feedback, hilarious and he interacts with all his students. he sends emails after each class to remind everyone of the hw. i hate english but he made it great. there are 4 essays in total and he allows one revision! one thing though... you HAVE to show up. take him!

He is definitely one of the best professors at nova. I had him for english 111 and he assigned 4 essays and one fallacy exam. If you go to class and do all your assignments you will be beyond fine. He is also very nice and offers academic advice in his office :) Professor Young is there for you. He made our class so fun and educating.

In a single word - AMAZING! He makes 3 hours move quickly. Yes, he makes you read a lot. Yes, he makes you write a lot. Yes, you have to attend. It's COLLEGE!! So--if you DO NOT like to read and write and LEARN, take someone else!! College is NOT supposed to be a walk in the park - if you're looking for an easy A, don't take his class.

I never met someone so willing to go out of his way to help. If you ask, he will help! I can't say enough great things about him--I'm even thinking about changing my major because of his classes. Also, he wrote a children's book for his kids. Pretty cool. He's the type of professor who you would want to be your friend after a few interactions.

Thank goodness he didn't become an architect! He'd be building "crappy bridges in Woodbridge and defending them!" For those who have taken him, you'll get that joke; for those who haven't, you'll find out. I love Mr. Young! And so will you. He will make you a better writer, thinker, and person. I'm forever thankful for being in his company.

I just found out that he is leaving NOVA for a college in Florida!! I am so bummed. I have taken him for English 111 and English 125. He is one of the professors at NOVA.
