This professor has been easy so far. Things could change.
Awesome. interesting class, very nice, easy going. Homework not bad at all. Lots of reading. So far haven't had a quiz ;)
Nice lady. Helpful, approachable. She's a good teacher but her wording of questions on the quizzes and the tests can be confusing, or the multiple choice answers are too closely related...i got her to change/drop the questions completely a couple times, after debating with her.
This professor used lots of stuff, like videos and letters from people during the period. She really likes to talk to the students and help them out if she can.
Too sympathetic for every subject!Study guides more like brief summaries to every paragraph in the chapter.Lot of reading, I should of just bought the book and taught myself.Honestly, her guest speakers had better lectures than her.Tests answers were closely related, making it confusing; vague, too many "true or false" q's.NEEDS to improve on this!
I love her! She was so nice to me. I had a lot of issues with getting stuff done on time and she was a big help. If you're a slacker that pulls through at the last minute she is definately the teacher for you. I found her class relatively enjoyable (I hate history) and I got a B. Would have prefered an A, but sometimes being a slacker can screw u.
Don't take in the summer!!!! You are going to need medication for your wrist after writing about 8 pages per class. She is nice but the work for the class is for more than 3 credits. For every exam you need to read about 6 or 7 chapters. It doesn't matter if is summer. She shows some interesting videos.
This prof. was awsome. I enjoyed every part of the course. The reading required is kinda heavy, but she will help you understand the material after class if needed. All tests are multiple choice and quizzes over every chapter on webCT. You must show up if you expect to pass. Excellent prof. reguardless of what the other students said.
Love her! Although she gives sooo many notes, she has her door open and is easy to get in touch with. I've actually gone to see her about missed notes and she will tell you what you missed and what is going to be on the test. If you slack off this isn't the class for you, it may be easy but it does require studying to pull through.
Great Professor, she most diffidently follows motto when stating “its all about the students”. Tests are based on notes, she gives some additional reading but questions are board and doesn’t focus on detail such as dates and so on, and finally she also gives quizzes which can bring your grade up a lot. Over all I would recommend her to anyone.
take this teacher! she is good. (sometimes dry, but then again, isnt history dry most of the time?) makes it more interesting. drops lowest test grade, attendance not mandatory, willing to answer any questions, helps alot. very polite and cares about the students needs. :D
She's very helpful and makes the class interesting! I'm actually learning a lot more than just dates in this class, without it being very hard (I don't really like history to begin with). Andria makes it as painless as possible.
Andria is really nice and personable w/ the students. Can be a little boring but I guess that isnt too hard seeing as how its history. Class is def. NOT mandatory. I took vancleave last sem. and shes def better than her. study your quizzzes bc almost every ques. appears on the tests. she drops lowest test and final isnt cumulative.
Mrs. Crosson is a great prof. Her tests cover over lectures as well as the textbook. Shes clear to the point and always covers all perspectives on the topic, so its easier to understand. Her tests are easy if you study and go to class. She has a online quiz every week or so buts its good review for test!! She also points out important tips on lect.
Amazing. Took her by mistake as my advisor said it would count as a history credit, it doesn't, but she's an awesome teacher, so it's worth using up one of my electives on her. She shows you all sides of major historical events, and the truth, and she does it with clarity and precision. Easy to talk to, get along with, and a really fun course, too!
I do not like History, but she does a really great job engaging students. She's always very nice and interesting. She's also very efficient and fast with exam grades. We would have our grades posted within a couple of hours of taking the test. I definitely recommend her as a professor.
One of the most enjoyable history classes I've taken. The tests are easy if you pay attention and attend class. The textbook is mandatory as her lectures cover aspects that the text doesn't. I highly recommend taking her class, but be prepared to take notes because she doesn't give out handouts. Very funny lady, and I would take her again.I
Prof. Crosson is awesome. If you attended class on a regular basis, you would definitely get no less than an "A". Her lectures cover almost everything that is on the exams. If you do miss class, the book is an excellent buffer. She is extremely easy to learn from.
Despite me not liking history too much, she's still not only a GREAT history teacher, but also a great historian. I would highly recommend going to class AND to the SI sessions. It isn't hard to get an A, just do all of the required assignments on WebCT.
Great teacher! Very helpful, funny and not boring at all!!!I love listening to her lectures, she makes history very interesting! Easy class.
Prof. Crosson is really great. Definitely one of the most organized & helpful professors out there. She's extremely clear in class and will answer any questions. There are quizzes online for every chapter, like every other history class at UT. She provides study guides and grade calculators, & she drops the lowest exam! Really cool prof. Take her!
Crosson is a very cool professor. You'll have three exams plus the final. Lowest non-final exam gets dropped. Quiz every week, so stay on it. You also have to post a response after each test about something she talks about. Exam towards the end is lecture/movie based. Very nice and informative, take her!!!
The worst teacher I've ever had. She rambles on about nothing that's on the test, tells personal stories about her boring life and doesn't give direct answers. I would rather have my hand chopped off than ever go back to her worthless class.
Professor Crosson was great. I'm not that much of a history person, but still got out an A. Her class was one of the easier ones I've taken this semester. Once you get used to the quizzes you'll do fine. The tests are straight forward and she drops the lowest one. Definately reccommend. :]
Prof Crosson was great. I truly recommend you take her! I'm not into History but she makes it interesting, she isn't into failing people either, which is cool.
Professor Crosson is really nice and helpful. Her lectures aren't too bad and not mandatory, but you should go because she adds a few things for the test that aren't in the textbook. There are weekly online quizzes that are easy if you read/use the textbook. Her tests use questions from the quizzes. She is a great professor overall.
Great teacher. She does a great job of explaining things in a common way that everyone can understand. Tests are straightforward and as long as you come to class and read the book, you should get an A or B easily.
She is a wonderful professor. She explained everything very clearly and threw in other interesting facts of the time. I really enjoyed her class! I took during the maymester so it was short but if I had to take it during a regular semester I would recommend taking her class.
This teacher, while being pretty easy, doesn't know anything. There were several times during the semester that she was told by her department to either stop showing her powerpoints or redo an entire class because she was inaccurate. I ended up dropped her class because I lost all respect for her. She should be teaching elementary history
Good prof. not a difficult class.
Great Professor will take again!!
She totally rambles on about NOTHING. I didnt learn a thing in her class. Shes an air head that likes to tell you about her boring life. Shes a horrible teacher who doesnt care about her students.
Great professor, quizzes over every chapter, every question from the quiz is on the test-so easy points there. YOu have to read the book to do well on the quizes, so reading chapters are easy-plus its easy reading! shes really nice and her lectures are interesting, we watch a couple of movies towards the last 3 chapters. Final Not Comprehensive. :)
If you go to class for this professor your almost sure to get at least a C even if you don't really study. You need to go to class though because of the way Andria lectures. She's a great professor though!
If you don't mind taking tons of notes this class isn't that bad. she goes pretty fast sometimes and you definitely do not want to miss class because you will miss a lot of information.
Prof. Crosson is a great. Attendance not mandatory but u wont do good if u miss class. I got a 'B' and im not to happy. Easy 'A' if u 'kinda of study.' Chapter Quizzes are easy, just go through the chapters briefly and plus all the quiz questions are in the exam. Final not comprehensive ;). I took her this past semester Fall 08
This was my fav. class by far. Her lectures were very interesting and makes you LOVE history. Exams are easy, quizes help bc there are some questions taken straight from them. She might talk fast, but it isn't hard to follow. Attendence helps with exams and reading the book is a must! LOVED this course. Andria was always easy to reach. GREAT!
She's great. u must study tho and read and come to class 2 do good
the class is easy. i never read the book, but i took really good notes and went to class everyday and have an A so far. I will take her again next semester!
She is pretty easy I suppose. Get 100 on the quizzes because ALL quiz questions appear on the test. You don't have to go to class but it is helpful when those other questions show up on the exam. I have a B now with very minimal effort. But I am good with history.
ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS CLASS!! She is a fantastic professor and I actually enjoyed her class (even at 8am!) You do have to read, and there are online quizzes for each chapter but its not bad. Great Prof && I usually hate history!!!
GREAT professor, easy, and fun. she actually makes history interesting. tests are easy A's if you go to all lectures and read the assigned chapters. no reason at all to get a C in this class
Overall easy class, but I found the tests somewhat confusing! go to class and take notes, a lot of the tests have lecture material on it. Pretty sure it is easy to at least make a C in the class if you don't study
her lectures are awsome! just read the text book and go to class and you can be sure you will get an A or a B
Andria Crosson is awesome. She's realistic and practical, which makes her feel very down to Earth. Her quiz questions can usually be answered without reading the book, or skimming through it in the library. She makes the class very fun and she gives entertaining lectures if you're interested in history. Makes even the boring ages more compelling.
She was very nice and understanding.. but you DEFINITELY need to read the book, and memorize the quiz questions
Shes an alright professor... Sometimes she skips around a lot and makes note taking a challenge... But down to earth and pretty up front class.. I'd recommend it, for sure.
Professor Crosson has really good lectures if you go to class and read the text book her tests aren't hard. She is very understanding so if you ever need help or questions about anything she will help you out. Her lectures are a big part of her class!!
She's an extremely wonderful and helpful teacher. She will go out of her way to help you understand the material. She's always open to questions and really takes the time to listen to you. I would love to take any of her classes again!
Shes a good history teacher. I can tell she knows her stuff. You have to go to the class to listen to her lectures. 3 exams (non-comprehensive) and drops the lowest, and a final (also non-comprehensive). All quizzes are online. Don't have to write a paper. I don't read the book and just listen to her lectures and I got an A on everything. Take her
Gives alot of information in her lectures, but she also makes sure you understand the subject matter. Can come off as cold, but is still very approachable if you have any questions or concerns. Attendance isnt mandatory, but you do need to keep up with the readings if you want to do well
Great Professor. Attendance isn't mandatory if you read the books. 3 exams that aren't comprehensive and the lowest is dropped. Final is non-comprehensive as well. 5 Question quizzes online that are easy if you read the book. Definitely take her course!
Prof. Crosson is very easy to understand. Gives 3 tests multiple choice. 3 PSA writing assignments and 1 book report. Hates essays written in 1st person so keep it in 2nd and 3rd only. Interesting lectures. Easy A. Very approachable and always available during her office hours. Recommend taking her.
Ms. Crosson is awesome! She really does teach this class in a way that keeps you listening. I hated history and didn't come out with an A but I managed a B+. Her tests aren't hard and some questions come from her online quizzes. She doesn't give any extra credit but as long as you read you'll do fine!
I love her! I took both 1043 and 1053. Her class is really interesting. It's really fun to listen to her lecture! I definitely learned more in her classes than in all of high school! I would suggest going to every class because test questions come from lectures. She gives 3 exams and drops the lowest one!!
best teacher in the history of teachers!! i swear, i hated history so much in high school, but she made it so interesting. i actually looked forward to going to class. trust me, you will enjoy her :D
Class was easy all you need to do is go to class and listen to her lectures. She's pretty interesting to listen to just kind of weird and cracks jokes that no one laughs to. Quizzes for each chapter but the questions come straight from the book. Tests are not easy but not hard as long as you read which is extremely important.
Andrea was great professor, I took both 1043 and 1053 with her. I liked how her tests were straightforward and from the book and some from the lectures and articles. She does not give curves but if you study (even cram the night before) and have good memory then you can make an A...or at least a high B if you try.
I love her class, she has high energy towards history and makes it interesting to learn about. She does have some interesting facts to give out during lecture that make you pay attention. I liked her so much I'm taking another class taught by her. I highly recommend her, even to people who dislike history. You do have some readings, nothing more than the average class and her tests are very straight forward, you come to class, do the quizzes, take notes and do the readings, you have an A
She is a great teacher and knows a lot about history! The class is not easy and you really have to work hard to make an A but it's not impossible. She loves helping students and is completely approachable. She does talk about her life now and again but it's always to support her point on what she's teaching!
She's fantastic. If you take the course get myhistorylab those questions are on the tests and quizzes. She's a wonderful lecturer, which makes you want to go to class. History's my thing but if it isn't you'll like it because of her teaching style. She drops your lowest test grade and the final is only the last stuff covered since the third exam.
Professor Crosson IS AMAZING!I totally disliked history before taking her 1053 course! Super interesting and funny , Clear professor! make sure to go to class and take notes and do all your quizzes!! You do have to read some articles but its not an excessive amount shes awesome take her!! :)
Excellent Professor! Several group in class exercises. Easy essays questions at the end. Superb study guide. Provides all the info for success then reduces the questions on the test. Have to study a little extra info but makes preparation easy. Lectures flow smoothly and even entertaining. Highly recommend!
Outstanding professor, had her for 1043 and 1053. Remember the quizzes for the exams (advice!). A must take professor! Its simple...take her!
She makes history really interesting. Attending class and constantly taking notes is really important because most of her test questions are from her lectures. If you do all that, you should have no problem making a B or higher. Highly recommend her.
What an awesome professor!
she is an amazing teacher!! her tests come straight from her lectures & quizes and she makes history very interesting! she definitely knows what shes talking about and he quizes come right from the book. Her tests are 50 questions and she drops your lowest test grade at the end of the class. i would definitely take her again!:)
Great Prof very interesting I never missed classed because of it. 4 tests drops 1. you need your book for the online quizes but otherwise you can get by without it. I recommend you go to class because most of here tests q's come from lecture. you do need to skim the additional readings though. would take again.
My Favorite Professor at UTSA. She makes History very interesting and she's passionate about it. She knows her stuff! Tests are straightforward quizzes are 5 questions and you have lots of time to complete them. Her lectures are really interesting! I would recommend Crosson for 1053 :)
She is a great teacher!! lectures are interesting, tests aren't difficult. Online quizes easy if you attend class. Has to read two small books and do a Source Analysis, wasn't hard at all!!!
Crosson has a great personality and is DEFINITELY my favorite teacher so far! Reading the text is mandatory, and test questions can be rather detailed.. Also, the practice material on MyHisotryLab will help immensely! I attended class each time, especially because she gives great lectures... I'd take her again for sure!
Her class was easy, her study guides are exactly like her tests. My only complaint which happens to be a big one, is she is a "lazy" teacher. she never enters grades until last minute, and never responds to emails or phone calls no matter how important they are. while I liked the class itself, I will never take her again!
You must show up to take her notes because some of the notes are not in the book. Its difficult to know which notes you need to memorize but otehr than that...the class is not that hard. Just show up and take notes.
Does not answer email and requires the MOST expensive textbook on the planet-obviously cares very little that UTSA students are paying their way through school.
Easy, interesting enough class, but a teacher that is clearly disinterested or too busy with the various classes she teaches.
Crosson is a very nice teacher!! She loves what she does. You must read your textbook to survive this class. She does a lot of cool things like plays the trumpet when you talk about the Jazz age.
I love her class she is very interesting and i enjoyed it a lot even when i was very sleepy i was able to stay awake in her class. she has extra assignment that are done in class with a group if you write a good paragraph about the topic you should get a good grade
Very passionate, liberal, and full of candor. You MUST attend her lectures, they are key. In all my years of US history classes in grade school I never learned as much as I did in one semester with her. I LOVE YOU PROFESSOR CROSSON!
She is the most annoying teacher I have had at UTSA. She almost never responds to any messages on blackboard and her lectures put me to sleep. Her tests are horribly worded and the outside articles are pointless. I made an A by not going to class and strictly reading the book and using the my history lab.
I loved her class. She is very knowledgeable about what she lectures and has personality so lectures aren't too boring. 5 question online quizzes on every chapter, but they aren't hard at all b/c she lets you used your book. Tests aren't hard either, just take good notes.
she is an okay teacher, very funny and enthusiastic about history. 3 test 1 final,Test are over her lectures. about 10 online quizzes which are over the the textbook.. so reading the textbook is a must...I went 2 class everyday and read the text book and made a B so yeah....she is okay not jst pay attention in class
One of my favorite history professors so far, her lectures are very interesting. She really likes her field. She plays the trumpet in one of her lectures! Class is pretty basic, you have to read the book for the quizzes she posts every week though. Overall really good professor.
SUCH an amazing professor. She made history so interesting, I actually looked forward to class. Attend the lectures because she says things that will be on the test, read the book, and you can make an A. Gives quizzes on each chapter online, study these questions bc they tend to pop up on the test. I learned a lot and made an A, crosson is awesome.
Professor Crosson is wonderful. The assignments for the course were straight forward and easy. She gave you ample amount of time to complete each assignment. Attendance is mandatory and so is the textbook! She is more than happy to answer questions anyone has over assignments or the class. I learned a lot and overall I loved her class!
This teacher will not hand you an easy A or B, but if you do the work read the book the class shouldn't be hard at all. She is very open when it comes to help but doesn't seem to tolerate people that seem lazy or trying to grovel for points. Just do your work and read the material as well as attend SI and you should turn out fine.
Quizzes are found online reading the textbook is a must not a hard class but you have to put in work
she is an amazing professor! if you read the book & attend class you should make an A or B. definitely take her! :)
Going to class is a must. She has test questions specifically from her lecture which can be hard to answer due to the fact that it is impossible to remember everything. Reading the textbook is also required, the quizzes come straight from the text. I made an A+ in the previous course and a B+ in Crossons, I studied a ton and attended class.
Great professor, very passionate about history. I would recommend taking her for Civ to Present. Kept me interested through all of her PowerPoint lectures (bring a laptop to class everyday). Read the chapters from the book thoroughly before the exams.
love love love her! history has never been interesting to me, but her lectures kept me interested the entire time. make sure to attend class and take LOTS of notes!
She is probably the best History teacher I've ever had. She is so passionate about history and really makes sure you understand what she's talking about. I have an A in her class and I haven't opened the book once. That's how good her lectures are.
Probably the best history instructor I've ever had. Great power points, great lectures, great personality. She's extremely engaging, so you will never be bored in her class. She even dressed up for Halloween.
I love her class she gives very interesting lectures there is never just a boring lecture she puts funny facts through out. plus her test are very easy if you attend class! oh yeah remember the cause of the civil war was slavery other than that you'll enjoy her class
Super easy class and great GPA booster. She puts study guides for each chapter online and her lectures are very interesting. The test are split 50/50 between the study guide and lectures. 3 test and she drops the lowest. Online quizzes for each chapter that are open book. Great prof to take!
This class fun and interesting. I know I got a pretty bad grade overall but that's my fault for never going to class honestly, but the class is worth taking with this professor. I regret not creating an interest with her
Easy A or Lazy B ! she gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and gives interesting lectures. 4 exams in total.
Took her for both histories, great prof. offers ten points extra on final, drops one test. Interesting lectures, great attitude. Easy A if you show up, can probably pull a B if you don't. Study guides are not that helpful, so you probably should skip them. Answers to all the online quizzes can be googled which is 25% of grade. DEFINITELY TAKE HER!
Professor Crosson makes history (which I think is boring) a little more interesting. I read almost every chapter. The book is essential for online quizzes. minimal extra credit and non-cumulative final. I would definitely take her again.
Easy and interesting class but very lazy professor who never responded to ANY of my emails and was not available for office hours so I had no way of contacting her. Puts in grades at last minute also.
Teaches the book nearly word for word, so showing up regularly is almost pointless. I realized this after I actually started reading the book before class like she suggested. Quizzes require textbook, not just lectures, and if you read are pretty easy. Tests are easy. Relaxed atmosphere, lots of jokes and stories. Drops lowest quiz.
I have never enjoyed history and always struggled with it. Crosson did offer to help me out and work with me... sadly I had already dropped the class. Her lectures do not go in the same order as the book, but reading the book seemed to be more helpful than her lectures. She gets easily side tracked, making it hard to pay attention in class.
She is an awesome history junkie. She talks and talks and she records her lectures and puts them online.
Has really interesting lectures, so it's not too hard to pay attention. Answers to weekly quizzes come straight from the textbook and sometimes can be found online. Study hard for this class and you should do fine. I was super lazy and made a C+ without going to class.
This professor really made history interesting for me. I take very detailed notes during lecture and made A's on all the tests. Her lectures are very interesting so I had little trouble focusing. I would recommend this professor.
I really enjoyed this class. I feel that it showed me that I really do want to teach United States History. Pretty much this class is doing one in class teaching, doing lesson plans, course developments and a pedagogy assignment. Pretty clear cut. You will for sure need the book but it is possible to get it cheap. Easy class, just tedious.
I absolutely love Professor Crosson as a history professor!!!! She shows passion and enthusiasm for all course material, really focuses on social issues. Super organized, with lectures (in personthrough blackboard), textbook (materialsarticles), quizzes, exams (celebrations of knowledge), and always the opportunity to ask questions.
I hate history, but this semester Andria made me love it! Her lectures are so much fun and super entertaining. Take good notes and come to class and your sure to get an A! I would take her again for history if I could!
I hated history until I took it with Professor Crosson! She made class entertaining and was always ready to meet up with students after class to answer any questions about anything. You can tell she loves what she does. Good notes are a must but easy to take. You can pass without the book but not with an A. She posted her lectures on blackboard too
She is a very good professor and is passionate in her lectures. You have to read A LOT but as long as you don't wait until the night before the exam you should be fine. This is not an easy A but it is easy to get an A if you put in the work. I would definitely take her again.
Prof. Crosson is a wonderful teacher to have. The only issue I had with her class were her quizzes. They were only five questions and fully weighted. They are always timed and usually over both book and lecture material. Tests aren't to bad... always over an article, book and lecture material. Regardless, she is a wonderful, knowledgeable teacher.
Lectures are all posted online so you don't have to go to class, you can just listen from the comfort of your bed. Easy A if you read the chapters and listen to the lectures, NO TRICK QUESTIONS. Everything on her test is word for word from the book. There is one online quiz every week over 1 chapter. Answers are all on google for the quizzes.
Love her! She makes history way more interesting, and I love how she compares situations in the past with the present. Her exams are kind of hard, but if you study and do her study guides, you'll be fine. The final is not cumulative which is great!
Hard test. Drops lowest. Weekly quizzes. Lectures are useless. Post lectures online. Quiz questions on test. No extra credit. +- Must read each chapter 3 times atleast to get a good grade on the test. Barely made an A.
Crosson was a lot of fun! I believe that I worked too hard at times. My advice to anyone who takes her class is not get bogged down in the small details. Just read the book and listen to the lectures in her course.
Crosson is easy to listen to and makes the material interesting. However, after taking both 104353 with her, I still could not tell a fellow student an effective way to study for the tests. She posts lectures online, but I recommend going to class. It will save you time later on. If you are good at history, you'll be fine. I'm not and I struggled.
Best professor I have had here at UTSA. I would take her for any class I needed. However, you will spend almost all ( if not all) class writing notes, so missing a class could put you behind. Lectures are interesting. Just study your notes and read the book just to be safe, and an A is possible. She even rounds up final grades! AMAZING PROFESSOR!!
Crosson! is one of the best professors. I'm a biology major and can care less about a history class, However, Crosson makes the course entertaining, it's not boring. She offers extra credits. and attendance is not mandatory. Crosson does drop one exam. She is caring and her office hour is always open and she always is concerned about her students.
Amazing professor that gives a lot of extra credit and is very understanding. I felt like I learned a lot in her class and it was pretty stress free.
her class was easy if you paid attention. a lot of her tests are based on what she says during lecture. not hard at all. especially when she goes over the main points at the end of class.
Lectures are mandatory, but you don't need to attend live lectures. Her lectures would sometimes run quite long, but I feel that way because I don't like US history. She is a very kind woman, and very passionate about history. I did get a lot of fun facts from her, though!
Wonderful professor! She really made the lectures (which you can attend live for extra credit or watch recorded later on) very entertaining. She always provides a lot of opportunities to earn extra credit.
Andria is an amazing professor! Her lectures are super engaging. Make sure you don't miss them because each one has a quiz at the end. Her tests are pretty straight forward and you will get an A as long as you study. There are also two papers, but she grades them pretty easy. She gives many opportunities for extra credit so be sure to utilize them!
Crosson is an amazing historian and teacher! Her lectures are very informative and engaging. 2 papers are required for her class but are graded fairly. Loved her class so much I'm taking the next class for the spring semester!
Professor Crosson was a very nice lady. The assignment are super easy but beware of the exams! Theyre very hard and you need to read the text book in order to pass.
Great professor! I took her online to give myself more time to work but her lecture overall helped a lot on the knowledge quiz, jus make sure you are also reading the book because it contains both the essays and exam questions. Professor Crosson is very helpful and understandable; emails back very quickly! I recommend taking her
2 papers and quizzes every week, tests are easy everything is in the textbook.
She takes days to answer emails, she gives very little instructions for the papers she assigns then counts down for things she didn't even say we had to do. She's more worried about having the highest scoring class on tests, rather than making sure the students understood the materials.
I don't know how she is in a in person class setting, but online she's horrible. She takes days to answer emails, she gives very little instructions for the papers she assigns then counts down for things she didn't even say we had to do. She's more worried about test scores rather than if the students actually understood the materials.
I did not like her class at all. She posts too long of lectures and none of the things that she says in the lectures are on the quiz/test. Theyre basically useless and you have to do all the studying urself by reading the textbook. Her tests are hard, 50 questions in an hour. This class was hard and I wouldnt take this Professor again.
Okay class, kind teacher but the tests are a huge chunk of your grade and the tests are worth so much. Knowledge checks every week that are 5 questions and can be stressful but use the book and you'll be fine
Very caring professor. Her exams and written assignments are easy. Take a lot of notes from lecture. She also allows a lot of makeup assignments if you miss something, she's very lenient. The only thing is she is somewhat disorganized with due dates, so make sure you look at your student email often.
Her lectures are way too long and at times irrelevant to tests.
She had many pre recorded lectures throughout the week that were time consuming and unhelpful. She made learning history difficult, so I advise take a different professor. I don't understand why she has such a high rating when she is difficult to contact and does not communicate with her students. Her class was very stressful.
Avoid at all costs for HIS 2553!!! She barely gives us any info other than her own "podcast". On top of that expect to write 1-2 pages a week minimum per assignment, with the very little info.
I took this as an online course, and it was fairly easy. All tests are on blackboard and have questions from the lectures and textbook. I never watched the lectures because they are all about an hour long. The textbook she chose is also pretty interesting and easy to read. She curved my grade to an A- even though it was only an 88.
This course is fairly lecture heavy, but Professor Crosson sets you up for success through her detailed lectures, study guides, and reading assignments. You definitely have to put aside a minimum of 2-3 hours a week to listen to her lectures and skim over the reading to prepare for her tests, but she makes the material interesting with her passion.
Kind professor, textbook readings and lecture notes are required to pass the tests. There are no test reviews. The chapters are long. She follows strict and realistic guidelines. There are written homework assignments with a decent amount of reading to them. Other than that, she's nice and would be willing to help if you have any issues.
Amazing Amazing Amazing. Love this professor, takes time to get to know her students, and will help you with anything you ask. Very insightful and intelligent. Have taken 3 classes with her. If you have the chance to take a class with her, DO IT!
Do NOT and I mean DO NOT take professor crosson. She only used useless, prerecorded video lectures to teach and had increasingly difficult tests. On tests, she words every single question in a manner that is generalized and extremely hard to understand. She also grades papers harder than an english teacher. If I could give her a 0/5 I would.
DO NOT TAKE HER. Shes a difficult professor and the quizzes are only 5 questions; if you miss any, you automatically get an 80 on it.
The reading is endless. The textbook sections are VERY long. She is passionate and available to students. Genuinely cares. Willing to work with you to complete assignments. NO guideline as to what is on the exams, you just have to study ALL the material and hope for the best. 4 exams. Lowest grade dropped. This course was really hard for me.
Wonderful teacher. She is funny and caring. Her lecture videos are fun to watch. The chapter readings take a while to complete, everything else is a piece of cake. If you do all your work on time, you should have an A with no problem. I recommend taking her classes!
I took this class over the summer. The work was easy to keep up with and her lectures were interesting. She covered almost all of the material on the test during her lectures. She also sent plenty of notifications about when things were due and kept a consistent schedule during the entire five-week semester. She did optional lectures twice a week.
Great professor, would take them again. Be prepared to watch the lectures, because when she says to watch them, she means it. The lectures go into more depth and detail than the textbook does so it is essential, however when it gets to exam time, some of the questions you will be asked may not be from what you've learned so be prepared to guess!
Professor Crosson's class has mixed reviews. Some found the lectures engaging, while others felt they didn't align well with the exams. To succeed, focus on the textbook and utilize study tools like Unstuck ai alongside your prep. The workload is manageable if you stay on top of it.
I would NOT take this course online if you were expecting it to be a free GPA boost and chill class to just take. To pass the exams you need to watch her lectures and take notes, the exams are proctored. Something that I didn't like personally was that you cannot go back freely within the exams to view your answers and everything is due at 8pm
She isn't necessarily bad she just has some things that do not make sense. Instead of going by the textbooks she will put questions on the tests and word them as "what does the professor say the right answer is." So if you get behind in the lectures and go off the textbook you'll get atleast one question wrong every quiz.
This is the professor to take for history. She explains things clearly and makes class interesting. The tests include information from both the lectures and the text so make sure to read the textbook.
Didn't watch a single lecture or read a single chapter and passed the class with an A. not hard at all
This professor is good in terms of content though there are two huge drawbacks specifically for the summer format class. One being that lecture videos are over 40 minutes long with there being anywhere from 1-4 modules. Two all assignments being due at 8pm...
Took this class over the summer where we had to watch 1.5 - 3 hours of lectures every 2 days. The "quizzes" that showed up in Panopto were worth 30% of the grade and if you got even one wrong it dropped that whole lecture grade ab 15%. The mean average for the tests was also 60% with only 1 of 4 dropped. She is good at explaining, okay at teaching.
These are very difficult multiple question tests. The instructor does a poor job in covering test materials yet each of her lectures are over an hour long. The instructor has a great lecture style that is engaging yet this is not helpful when the content she covers do not show up as test questions
The professor is nice and explains some topics well. But on tests there are questions that are not covered during lecture or in the book.
Make sure you watch the lectures, take notes on them, and study a little bit and you'll do just fine. She also has a weekly zoom meetup every tuesday and tries to reach out to students which is nice, though sadly I never attended either of them.
