He is a very decent person. However, physics is not an easy course but very interesting once you grasp the concepts. I suggest study a lot on your own. You will however do better if you take the summer physics and put the effort in it.
One of my favorite profs through 3 years at uOttawa. Not the most useful lecturer but very kind person, funny, makes very fair exams and has enough bonus marks in the class to ensure you get a good grade if you don't slack off.
He is decent. It's not an easy class. But once you put some effort in it (average 3 hours a week), you will do fine. He doesn't teach very well so expect to depend on your own. Study solutions manual and online resources. Tests are fair and a lot easier than assignments. NEVER miss those little quizzes and bonus marks he gives here and there.
My favourite first year prof by far! I'm not a morning person, so for a prof to be able to keep me awake, interested, and almost excited to go to class at 8:30 gives him a high rating in my book. This isn't an easy class, but his exams are fair and he provides tons of help prior to. He's hilarious!
Although this is a hard class, you can get a good mark if you put in the effort. Go to the DGDs, do the assignments! He's hilarious and so passionate about physics to the point where it made me consider doing a minor in physics, a subject that I thought I hated. I'm excited to take PHY1332 since he's teaching it! Never thought I'd be saying that.
Physics is a subject that provides difficult concepts to follow, so clarity itself will never be that easy. The professor does his share of the work; if you want a good mark actually do all the practice problems, assignments, and pre-lecture quizes.
Very funny professor. His teaching is very clear and gives lots of bonus marks so take advantage of that. Physics is tough but to get a good mark do well on all his assignments and pre lecture quizzes an the labs and you should do well in his course.
Such a nice guy, enjoyed his lectures simply because he kept me laughing. His teaching however wasn't so great; I felt lost at times and he wasnt very clear about some topics. the assignments were okay, but the midterms were brutal. the final was all multiple choice which wasn't too bad. tough class and you have to work hard
He's a funny guy and you can tell he knows physics. His tests are fair. However, he doesn't teach anything. He just does problems in class and expects and the students watch. Don't take him if you haven't previously done physics
He gives many opportunities to do well in the course. If you bother doing the assignment, especially the bonus assignments/tasks, you should finish the course well. His passion for not only physics, but the well-being and success of his students, make him an admirable prof! Czajkowski is one who offers "A+ on final exam is A+ in the course!"
Explains the material well, does tons of practice problems in class and stops to answer any questions you have. His jokes and demonstrations always make the lectures entertaining.
Worst prof ever. On the last class he told us he was giving us all the wrong answers all semester. What kind of prof does that?!
Really funny prof which makes him easy to listen to, probably the only reason I didnt die going to this class :P He doesnt actually teach you anything ever though, so be prepared to learn from working through the textbook and printed off lecture notes on your own. Also he's really demeaning towards students. I liked him a lot, but not as a prof.
The subject material was really difficult and a lot of the times his explanations were a little difficult to understand. So read up before going to class! Also he is really helpful and you can tell that he wants the best for his students. Some classes he can get moody though. He's also self-deprecating which can make the class uncomfortable.
Probably the funniest prof i've ever had, which makes it easy to pay attention in class, but sometimes i feel like he expects you to memorize things he says in an instant. he kinda gets mad when the class doesn't (or doesn't talk). we flew through some material too fast which was pretty alarming and worrying. The exams are fair though.
He's a cool guy who knows his physics. But he can't teach. Every lecture is basically him going through and us watching him do them. It's as if he expects you to already know all the theory. I'd grab a beer with the guy but never again take a class with him
I don't like physics in particular, but I love Czajkowski. He's such a funny and enthusiastic prof. Definitely do the weekly and bonus assignments, he's very fair like that. I asked for help with a particular assignment question once and he worked it out with me for 45 minutes, going well past his office hours. An amazing prof.
Dr. Czajkowski is hilarious and you will laugh with him multiple times per lecture. Yes, as others have said, he doesn't really teach he just does problems. However, for a physics prof he makes the class easy as he throws bonus marks at you and counts all multiple choice parts of tests out of less marks than there were questions to boost marks.
Hilarious guy, but doesn't teach theory. Read the text! 1321 + 1331 are combined, and there's way too much material, but not his fault. He does his best by us. Get all the bonus points you can and you'll pass. I had no idea what I was doing in this course (still don't) and managed an A. Make sure you prepare well for labs. Good luck! :)
Very tough for students who have not taken physics in grade 11 or 12. Things speed up very quickly & you will probably fall behind-recommend taking this course over the summer. Extra lecture classes are not helpful-must self-teach & spend most study time on this class. Prof is very nice & helpful, really cares about his students but course is hard.
This prof is super nice and helpful and funny but can't teach !!!
This prof is hilarious but I found not cut out for teaching. He spends far too long rushing through the theory and not nearly enough time solving problems. I seriously understood nothing past the second midterm but still managed to get an A+ in the course. The labs and all the bonus opportunities are good buffers on your grade though which helps!
One of the funniest profs eva! His class is not easy though. Go to class and write down answers to his suggested probs. PRACTICE DAILY his midterms are brutal. 3 things to do well: 1. Do well in labs , 2. GET THE BONUS POINTS and 3. don't just look up assignment answers online(actually do them). I got an A with 70s on the midterm and final
ONE word for this guy "AMAZING"
One of my favourite profs! He's hilarious so it makes you want to wake up to go to a morning class. His classes are filled with demos and are quite exciting. His exams are a little hard but you'll be okay if you practice every day.
Absolutely hilarious lecturer/emailer/Facebooker! Content is not that bad but testing this year was. Final + 2nd midterm were brutal. Mighty disappointed. Takes a lot of questions from the textbook so practice, practice, practice. And when you're done, practice some more. Eat, sleep and breath Physics II.
Great guy and Midterms can be so easy but if you screw up a simple Multiple choice question its basically over, the Final is hard but great guy and interesting stuff you can do well without too much effort if you're interested in the topic. If not he's funny so tolerate the class for a bit
Good teacher, very funny and clever. Labs are easy. His notes aren't very good, and the quizzes are somehow extremely hard. Final was very hard but marking scheme is awesome.
Czajkowski is for sure a good prof and a nice person with great sense of humour. The lectures are interesting with clear explanations on demonstrated questions, and he's always willing to answer your questions. The exam is for sure not hard, pretty fair for the amount of time he offers. Also, he never uses textbook, he has his own lecture note.
He got lots of assignments, be ready for that. He doesn't use textbook, it is for people seeking for a score higher than A.
Horrible lecturer, can't explain the topics he teaches. For example, he took half an hour to explain integration and summed it up with "you really have to guess an integral, there are no real rules". His online quizzes are broken and he does not round his answers when he asks you to. His course pack is filled with formatting errors and blank pages.
The teacher is a funny guy, he's a good person. However, he isn't very good at transferring the information he is teaching. He knows his stuff though and you can tell he has a massive pool of knowledge. It would just be nice if he could actually transfer that to his students in a productive way. Super nice though, he really tries to help.
Great prof, great class, I would take every course with this guy! The assignments can be really long but if you cant suck it up and do them anyways you probably didn't make it this far. Hilarious and engaging lectures where you learn a lot about all kinds of stuff and hes always available if you go to his office.
Hilarious prof and gave the most stimulating lectures out of all my first year profs. Hell load of assignments and pre-lecture quizzes but the midterms are bearableawesome if you practice the end-of-section questions in his notes.
Very tough, good content but super difficult if you don't already have a working knowledge of physics.
His lectures are all over the place. He spends way too much time reviewing simple concepts before the first midterm and flies through the material before the final. He skips numerous sections of his course pack, which is filled with incorrect symbols and errors, resulting in a lot of confusion. Not a class I would take again.
Dr. Czaijkowski gives interesting lectures and is a fair marker. His course was hard because of the content, not because of his teaching abilities or grading criteria! Questions on exams are very similar to what we see in class (where you always get lots of examples). Class DGDs are VERY helpful and give you a lot more examples to follow.
Solid professor. Keeps lectures interesting. Fun sense of humor. Very easy pass with basic effort.
Honestly, if you don't have a physics frame of mind you might find some of the concepts in this class challenging. However , if you but in the time, go to the dgd's (super helpful), do all the assignments (not last minute) then you might actually end up with good mark. There's no surprises on the midterms and final and overal Czajkowski is solid
He keeps the lectures interesting and interacts with students who want to be there and actively participate. The lectures can be difficult especially since the class is meant for people who aren't in Physics, I think he forgot that sometimes and went a bit too intense. However, he makes it so you want to research it further so it works out.
He is a little confusing when it comes to teaching, but he goes through a decent amount of examples in class as well as demos. Assignments questions are often tricky, but his exams are very fair. Gives many opportunities for bonus to lower the final exam weight as well. Hilarious guy as well, overall a good professor!
Super funny guy. Assignments are definitely worth doing, as well as the pre-lecture quizzes. Go to the physics help centre and you'll do great on all of them and they give you easy marks. Professorstudent relations will be much more pleasant if you've done the work.
Prof C. is definitely a someone that other professors should strive to be. He cares a lot about how the students do and will go out of his way to help and make sure you do well in his class even if you were flunking. Definitely would take this course again because he was such a great professor!
This man is pure sass. I found this class challenging because he is all over the place. Even if you are in PHY 1321, go to the extra class for PHY 1331 because examples in that class are on the midterms. Very heavy workload, so start things early. DO NOT buy the textbook ($140+) , just stick to his lecture notes ($15).
Its easy to crack this course do the assignments and pre-lectures whether you get help or not. Use his package, look over the notes, do the practice exams, take notes on everything he says, and look up questions online. He is really into physics, and sometimes into himself, but otherwise he's a decent prof, if a tad condescending
He is hilarious, has a cool accent to listen to. The lectures were useful until after the second midterm, where it became a game of ''study this on your own, I'll show you how to start problems you should know how to solve, but won't actually solve them.'' Lots of extra credit, though. He doesn't coordinate the labs, but they are easy.
Honestly, one of the worst profs I've ever had. He's extremely disorganized and after the second midterm, you're basically teaching yourself everything. The only good thing about him are his bonuses and the boosts he gives you on midterms and for assignments. Other than that a complete mess. He's really sassy, seems like a decent guy, but bad prof!
He is absolutely hilarious, but at the end of the day he still does a very good job teaching physics (which is pretty dry of a subject). I would take any of his classes just to have him again.
He's a really funny guy which made the class more enjoyable but it was a difficult course. Assignments were tricky at times, and the first midterm was killer. His demos were cool and course notes were very handy. Go to the DGDs!! (TA Eric was so hepful!) He honestly wants you to well, but wants you to deserve it.
Great prof. Was always asking him questions, always had time for me.
I found his tests very fair in the sense that he tested us on what he taught us. It wasn't the easiest subject matter all the time, and he multiple choice final did not go well for me because I could do the hard questions but not the easy ones. I would take it again with him if I had to.
Go to class, the problems are similar to the ones he does in class. Prof gives sample problems without solutions so the textbook is a must. He may not be the nicest guy, but just pay attention to the in class problems, and make sure you can do Q's in the textbook that are similar. Exam is most difficult part of course.
(also for PHY1322) Czajkowski made me LOVE university physics. He's hilarious! For Phy1321, he's a lot more easy going. DO the weekly assignments, and try to do pre-lecture quizzes and DGD bonus quizzes. He gives you every opportunity to get an A, so take it! He does demos in class - they're amazing. Recommended class for Biomed students!! :)
Harder content than Phy1321, but interesting course theory!! Dr. Czajkowski is hilarious and does everything in his power to make sure NO ONE fails his class. Seriously - the guy cares that much! DO textbook problems, GO to DGDs!!! Prof gives extra-credit which helps. It's easy to get a B in the class, but you gotta work for that A :)
He is the best prof you will ever have for PHY 1321 or PHY 1322. He's hilarious! The jokes really keep you awake during class. Material is tough but he does a great job at teaching it. You have to do your part tho! He gives a lot of bonus marks, and his exam is MC which is epic for a physics exam. You can't fail this class! He even says that!
Awesome prof! Loved his classes and would 100% take any class with him as a prof again! Highly recommend and he isn't too bad to look at either!
can't fail his class
Considering he actually showed us some of his reviews in class, I'll write one because I know he reads them. He's a fantastic prof. His lectures are designed to compliment your own readings and studying. As long as you put in the work and do practice problems on a regular basis, you'll get an A. Get the textbook for additional problems.
I thought I could do well without getting the textbook and only attending the lectures... but actually attend the DGD, read the textbook in conjunction to the lecture notes and do as many practice problems as possible. He is the type of teacher that shows you how to be independent. He doesn't teach EVERYTHING. You will have big responsibility!
Have fun getting in contact with him (hint: you won't). Does not frequently reply to emails, rarely comes to his office hours. His TA's lost my midterm, and I was not even able to contact him about it. Does not allow electronic devices in his lectures either. Also gives online quizzes with irritating marking schemes.
He's a great prof for a first year course. Very laid back in his teaching and has good pacing. As long as you do the assignments, quizzes and assigned problems you will easily get a great mark in his class. Be ready to do some self teaching as he recommends because although it may be new to some of you it is essential for success in university.
Honestly, if you do the suggested problems/assignments as you go, you'll have no problem with the midterms/final. Final was multiple choice, so it's not TOO bad - many questions were similar to old finals! The midterms were a little brutal, but Dr. C gives chances for bonus marks. Don't buy the textbook, his lecture notes are all you need!!
worst prof, he has a lot of attitude and rushes the subject material. You are left to learn a bulk of the material on your own which is fine, but his final exam does not reflect the problems done in class! This prof has an attitude problem and he should attend a workshop on how to teach properly. For paying $7000 tuition, find someone better
A very solid prof. The course is first year physics so it is kinda impossible to make it fun unless you really like physics. AC does have his funny moments though and probably made the most jokes out of any of my profs. He gives students MANY opportunities to succeed, and doing well in this class should be a breeze for anyone willing to try.
Professor Czajkowski puts in his greatest effort to help his students succeed. If you are aiming to pass that should not be a problem , planning on getting an A you will need to put in the time. The material is tough but he makes the class very entertaining and tries his best to explain to the class. Wouldn't mind having a beer with him.
Makes you work incredibly hard but in the end, you learn so much from the course (especially for 1331 students) that everything is worth it! The man's also a riot in class, albeit slightly offensive. Concentrate on doing problems first and the concepts will become clear afterwards. Old exams are key, then DGD problems and then suggested problems.
He is really funny and makes some ridiculous jokes in class, which is entertaining! However, as a teacher he isn't the best. The material is taught really quickly so it's easy to fall behind. God bless those extra credits though, they saved my life... including the lab component :')
He is an AMAZING prof. His lectures are always entertaining and he provides great examples. In lecture, he often asks the students if they have questions from the textbook that they want him to solve. His package of notes is very helpful. He does everything he can to help with review notes, final exam notes and extra help sessions
Dr. Czajkowski is very helpful and tries to convey the material as clearly as possible. He is funny and tries his best to make his lectures engaging. If you want to pass do and UNDERSTAND the assignments. Also, do the practise midterms and finals and the suggested problems. Can be a little rude sometimes, but overall nice guy.
Mixed feelings- great guy, not such a good lecturer. Tests were 'easy', but since we never did any easy questions in class, they were hard tests. Taught it flipped, caused a lot of class to completely flunk first midterm. He set up extra help session after that. Take someone else if possible. Extra credit is wise- do every little thing.
He was a funny person but not the best professor. He spent a lot of time deriving equations and talking about theory (that time could have been spent doing problems). You really need to practice. I got a 60 on the two midterms (I took physics in hs), but I did everything that he asked with the bonus and ended up with an A. There's hope for everyone
He is a really funny prof and makes the lectures interesting. His midterms are tough, so make sure to review very well for them. The final was all multiple choice, and he makes it so that it's very easy to pass, but you'll still have to work hard for an A. He gives lots of bonus marks, and even held study sessions for the class.
You've really got to foster your own understanding to succeed in this guy's class. Good at delivering baseline knowledge, but is never good enough as a lecturer to actually convey understanding; he's better at this when working one-on-one. Seems to have an inflated expectation of what his students should be able to do, but at least he's funny.
He's a man and a professor.
i hadnt take phy1321 and itd been a long time since physics so i was actually nervous and considered dropping the course at a point. but honestly its not hard and the prof is the best part about it he has such a great personality like ive never seen some1 honestly do so much for our service to help us do well and make us happy 3
Midterm Exams are straightforward: 7MC (but the grade is X/6) and 5 long answer (you pick 4 to get graded) Final: 33 MC but graded out of 30 (usually) Nice, funny prof, teaching style is a bit different, worked for some people (like me) but not for others.
Dr. Czajkowski is THE MAN! He is the embodiment of superior intellect coupled with ancient wisdom.
He's a nice guy, gives a lot of bonus points and marks pretty fairly. However, he doesn't always explain things well, so you need to study and teach yourself for some parts. Midterms are straightforward, and the final is all MC. It's pretty easy to pass his class, but you really need to work hard to get an A.
He gives plenty of bonus marks- do his old tests! they are very close to the ones he gives. He is kind of arrogant and rude in person and in class, he doesn't help students much even online- and if he does, it's normally accompanied by a snarky comment of some sort. But all in all, it's not a bad course- and he can be funny
Lectures aren't crystal clear, so unless you are gifted at physics, it's a lot of work outside the lecture hall. Exams are mostly fair. Labs are easy, some TA's mark stupidly specific for no reason. Final exam is marked very fairly. He's a funny guy.
You can't fail this class. I just barely passed the midterms and failed the final and still passed. Trust me on this. Weekly assignments are annoying but most questions are googleable. Exams are similar to practice problems in terms of type but go to the DGDs and do all the practice given. Very entertaining prof just teaches an awful subject.
Amazing class, plenty of ways to do good in his class. And he really cares about his students. He is a funny and interesting man on the whole.
Great prof, very fun to listen to. The class is a lot of work but you can definitely a good grade if you work hard and go to the physics help hours at the Macdonald building
Great Prof, and extremely entertaining to listen to. Fair, but not easy. Understanding, and a cool and funny guy. 10/10, would recommend.
Easy but very disorganized. Just do the assignments and past exams. He recycles most of the final exam questions, so if you do all the past finals, its an easy A+.
The Czajkowski man is THE MAN. He is a blessing to humanity from the heavens in the guise of a physics professor and the embodiment of perfection in a human form coupled with superior intellect along with ancient wisdom. God bless this messiah and prophet-like figure who also happens to be the achilles of our campus.
favorite professor this semester by far. Makes lectures interesting by adding in comical jokes. As long as you do all the assignments and pre-lecture quizzes you will pass its very hard not to.
Lectures are almost intolerable. Any written work he does in lectures is horribly written. Should have someone proof read his documents, they are riddled with confusing spelling and grammar issues.
I think Dr Czajkowski is the saltiest human being on the planet. He's hilarious. His strategy is to crush you by starting off with thermodynamics before building you back up with forces/kinematics. He is very generous with bonuses, and he gives a lot of information about what you can expect on tests. It would take real effort to fail this course.
I'm never not entertained by this man. He truly cares about his students and is very passionate about teaching and gets upset when students are apathetic to the course and the material. Most of his questions are recycled/can be found online and his content isn't that hard!
I like his class, especially his jokes, very good prof/ gives bounces, he gave all the class full mark in the pre-lecture quizzes / just do ur assignments and you'll pass
This guy definitely has one of the toughest courses to teach because there are very few people who actually enjoy physics, but I gotta say he made it so much better. Great sense of humour which really lightened up the mood for the class. Gave lots of hints for what to expect on midterms, and lots of extra credit given. Do attend class though..
Andrzej is a very caring prof and really tries to make the class interesting and fun by doing demos and cracking a few jokes (which is pretty important considering most people are not incredibly interested in the subject he teaches). He gives so many bonus marks that it is very hard to actually fail this class, but you still need to work for it!!
He makes it very easy to pass this course. The final was easy but his midterms are more challenging. He's aware that he is teaching an unpopular subject, and takes that into account for the final grading. I did not find his teaching helpful unless I went over the material ahead of time. Expect at least 2 quizzes and an assignment every week.
He really wants all his students to pass and gives out tons of bonus marks. Makes lectures funny, but expect lots of work outside of class. If you're a 1331 student (no 4U physics) and not a 1321 student, expect an extra 10-20 question test every week along with two quizzes & an assignment. Don't bother with textbook, he has you buy a course pack.
Not the best teacher, but he is hysterical! He provides a ton of ways to pick up bonus marks bc he knows the course isn't easy. Cares about his students, but could be a better teacher
Dr. Czajkowski is a good lecturer and keeps you interested. However, the material he teaches does not sufficiently reflect the evaluated course material. He does provide a lot of opportunities for bonus marks which makes passing the class relatively easy but achieving a truly great mark is next to impossible when you have 4 other courses.
The course itself is very challenging, and if you want an A+ you have to put in a little more effort. I got a 54% on the 1st MT, and 66% on the 2nd MT, and 77% on the final and still ended up with an A- cuz of the BONUSES AND LABS!!!! So in short DO NOT WASTE ANY BONUS MARKS - THEY HELP YOUR MARK SOO MUCH! plus get a 100% on labs - they are EASY!
Czajkowski truly is THE MAN he was by far the funniest prof I had that semester. He cares about the students and is always accessible for extra help. It's basically impossible to fail the class, he gives lots of extra credit work and if you're in 1331 you basically get an extra 5% taken off the exam. He makes an unbearable subject a little better!
Czajkowski is easily the funniest prof/teacher I've ever had. I find physics boring, but his humour made it bearable. It is very hard to fail this course even if you fail the midterms and exams because of the assignments, quizzes, and bonus marks he gives out. If you're in 1331 get ready to work a lot at the start of the semester.
Czajkowski is a decent lecturer. If you do not immediately grasp the subject beware as he will criticize you for that. He is very opinionated and will say things that you may not necessarily agree with. Tests and exam are a real piece of cake (study the assignments, past tests, DGD problems, and end-of-lecture questions). He is also very funny.
Condescending, does not reply to emails, not helpful
Hated this class and regretted taking it as an elective. Way too much work for really nothing in the end. Do not take this class if you do not have to. Isn't really a prereq for most Canadian professional schools, so don't be misled by others into taking it like I was.
As a student who never took physics in her life, taking this class wasn't easy, but Czajkowski also makes this class hard to fail. I failed both the final and one midterm with 43%, and passed the class with a 69%. He gives a lot of bonus marks so you can pass even without being the greatest. The workload is a little heavy though!
Favourite first year prof, genuinely cares about students. With pre-lecture quizzes, assignments, etc., he gives you more than enough of a chance to bump up your grade. His midterms/exams are very reasonable. DO THE ASSIGNMENTS and GO TO CLASS: oftentimes midterm questions will be taken straight from assignments and in-class questions.
He is rude. When you talk to him, he turns your back towards you and starts talking to somebody else. On the final exam, he changed the order of the questions but forgot to change the order of the answers. In addition, the scanner missed some answers. We were shocked when we received the results but he would not believe us that something went wrong
Just a Jerk. He expects you to pick up the material immediately, and is shocked if you don't get it like he does. Says some funny things in class but that's about it. Otherwise he's a hard professor not looking to help you.
This class will take over your life. The prof is extremely egotistical and thinks he is the best thing since sliced bread - he isn't. No written feedback until the midterms/exams. If this course is a requirement for you, I'd recommend trying to get another prof. Or get well acquainted with Khan Academy and be prepared to self teach!
He has a huge ego, he likes to single out students in class and embarrass them for answering questions wrong and thinks he is a lot better of a teacher than he actually is. He also takes away marks if you ever email him or go to his office hours; he really doesn't like to help students. Gives lots of homework and just rude in general.
There are assignments every week, which although is a lot, only 240 of 310 possible points actually counts which leaves out 2-3 assignments. You only lose BONUS marks from him if you ask questions from a lecture 2 weeks ago. There are many practice quizzes at the DGDs to help you. He's a great prof and wants to help, but it's a difficult course.
Reviewers say Czajkowski is rude, but that's because no one understand sarcasm these days. I found him to be very nice/genuine outside of lectures (office hours), where you can talk to him 1 on 1. Many complain about how heavy the course is, but assignments are optional (bonus points). 1331 kids are also salty since they didn't take HS physics.
Not the best teacher. He goes over a lot of the assignments in class and makes it VERY difficult to fail. I failed a midterm and the final and still managed to pass with over a 60. Also, DO THE EXTRA CREDIT, It can take pretty close to 10% off the final exam. Very difficult class if you didn't take high school physics. GO TO CLASS, it's worth it
Sends the most hilarious emails, if you don't get his sarcasm you will hate him, accent is thick but still easy to understand. Attending the lectures is a must, content isn't posted online. Doing an assignment every week is annoying but easily brings up your grade. Midterms and exams were fair to what we saw in class, posts old tests and breakdown.
Great prof! While the content is hard, he is a funny lecturer and makes it really difficult to fail! Wouldn't take the class as an elective but Czajkowski makes it easy to enjoy. Hilarious emails too!
He gets angry at students from time to time, and I can't remember ever being on schedule in his class. He skips over some content in class (sometimes would ask TAs to make up for it in DGDs). The assignments are hard, but if you can do them you're good for the midterms. Exam was more challenging in addition to being entirely multiple choice.
Prof Czajkowski is the only prof for this course and is the best. He can be intimidating, but he is hilarious. His marking is really fair such that you will not be able to fail his class unless you put in no work. The final was multiple choice which was good. Midterms were quite hard but he gives many opportunities to bring your mark up.
Hilarious guy. However, I found I was doing lots of self-learning. He is not the best at explaining concepts, and some parts felt a little rushed like rotational dynamics. However, he is so generous with marks. He gives tons of extra credit and the questions he asks on assignments and tests are very fair. If you did well in grade 12 physics ur good
How can you hate him? Lots of extra bonus points and he recycles his questions. He really tries his best to keep the class entertained. I believe he wants the best for his students but his teaching technique isnt really the best. Make sure you try to understand the content before class and his teaching supplements whatever youve got. Go for DGDs
Very fair at marking and is really really funny! His classes were the highlight of my semester, can't wait for PHY 1322!
Probably the funniest prof I had last semester. He is a fair guy and gives you lots of opportunities to do well in the course. He tosses free bonus marks. Go to dgd's there are quizzes that can result in bonus marks. For 1321 (or 1331) he provides you with all of his course notes which has everything you need for the course. FInd old exams!!!!!!!!!
Overall a good professor. With all the bonus marks and "gift" marks, he makes it pretty hard to fail his class. He does extra review sessions before midterms and the final exam and it's really useful to attend them. He's a great lecturer but be prepared to do a great amount of work in his class or you won't get a good grade.
Ok prof- he likes to talk about concepts instead of solving lots of problems in class, which helps with understanding but all the tests are only on the questions. You have to attend DGDs for that. But all past tests can be found online with answers and he seems to reuse the same questions every year so its not too hard to do well on his exams.
His exams are fair- half multiple choice and half long answer, and he gives partial credit even if you mess up. I didn't do a whole lot of work and I still almost got a B-, so try and it's an easy course.
Andrzej's lectures aren't well structured so there's a lot of self learning in this course. Exam questions come from assignments, the textbook, and a test bank. His use of MCQs can be good and bad, good because you can guess, bad because you don't get part marks. It's difficult to do well in this course but it's also difficult to fail.
Honestly he is a really good prof. He's a great lecturer, he's funny, he's a fair grader, he's clear about what he wants, but most importantly he gives you so many opportunities to do well in his class with extra credit and bonus marks, it's up to you to use them. Physics is a hard course but this prof made it really enjoyable. I 100% recommend.
For sure a great prof. but don't take this class unless you absolutely need to!
He goes over so many examples in the class. This is amazing. Cos science is impossible to learn if a guy just keeps talking and doesn't let you actually do the problems. He is hilarious and really tries to make the class interesting with demonstrations, jokes etc.
One of my all time favourite profs. I was half an hour late to a midterm (totally my fault) and I ran into him a couple weeks later and he offered me a supplemental exam. He's super funny and sarcastic in class but when you visit his office hours, he takes the time to go over problems with you. Amazing Prof. If only I was actually good at physics
Messed up several times on midterms causing stress. Very difficult to follow, makes you buy his unorganized notes for extra and doesn't teach.
Hes very funny and definitely knows a lot about physics, but doesnt teach well. His lectures were often unorganized, so I had to learn a lot on my own. It isnt so bad if youve taken physics before but if you havent, the class is confusing and the tutorials dont help very much at getting you caught up. Wouldnt recommend unless its compulsory.
He is a decently nice guy, but a terrible professor. He is not clear during his explanations and he goes over tough concepts way too quickly. His midterms can really throw you off since he puts random questions in from grade 12 calculus. DO NOT take this course if you don't need to. I did not enjoy a single aspect of this course.
Hes a nice guy and a pretty decent prof. Lots of demonstrations which makes the lectures less boring. He makes you buy his lecture notes, which sucks but they come with lots of practice questions which is helpful. Only marks come from exams and labs so if you don't test well it kind of sucks.
The midterms are not difficult if you put time in to study. He is fair & generous with the midterms: 7 multiple choice (marked out of 6) & 5 long answer (marks 4 of them). The final exam is a slap in the face. It is only multiple choice and the questions are difficult. You need to attend class and study hard if you want to get over 80% in the class
His classes are so useless and you barely learn anything. Learned everything using external resources. Midterm 1 was okay but midterm 2 was brutal. He makes it easy to pass with all his assignments and bonus but tough to get 80+ . The final was super tough. If you have to take this course, try to take it in the summer. Avoid Andrzej if you can,
At the beginning I thought I was going to fail this class, but it's now one of my top grades. If you work effectively then this class is going to be straightforward. Lectures aren't a must but useful and funny as hell. Study problems and not notes. By understanding this I went from a 60 on the 1st midterm, to 80 on the 2nd, to 90 on the final.
Let's get this straight, he is a tough professor, the course material he teaches is very difficult as well. His lectures are okkkkk. (don't skip them tho) And he likes his assignments way too much. But overall he is a very caring prof that deeply wants his students to do well, his grading criteria are clear and reasonable. He won't disappoint you.
Hard class but gives you lots of free marks as a buffer (DGD bonuses, assignments, labs). Lectures and notes are useless, use textbook and understand concepts past midterms / exams to learn the content.
If I were to do the course over again, I'd probably have skipped lectures for the first half but attended the second half. His notes are terrible - good luck learning from them. Gives you questions but not the solution. Terrible at teaching, the DGD was much better than lecture. Questions do not represent material taught in class.
He's a pretty funny guy but I absolutely hated his notes and did not like the method of teaching. There are previous year exams with solutions floating around but I'm almost certain the prof intentionally puts mistakes in the answers to throw off future students so be wary. Use the labs and assignments to boost your mark. Overall neutral rating.
This prof is very funny. Smart guy aswell which made being in his class pretty okay. He has set expectations for students and expects those taking his class to meet them. Has weekly assignments, do them. Also study for a couple days for the midterms and youre lit. Exam is multiple choice, pretty hard but if you study definitely possible to do well.
Really do the work outside class, he might not explain well during lectures but if you prepare the lecture before you'll breeze through the course
He is very good at covering lots of concepts in his lectures, some material is hard to grasp if you don't do some reading at home. He is a very funny prof, he likes making lots of jokes in his lectures. Recommended, even if you don't like physics, you'll like this prof.
He doesn't provide a clear cut criteria for any of the projects or assignments and so when he posts marks on brightspace they are incorrect! When you ask him to fix the quiz marks he says to not worry because they are just used for attendance--> but in the syllabus the quiz marks count for 20%! He likes to tamper with our CGPA essentially...
Absolute beauty, lectures are interesting and he does well at presenting the information in a clear manner able to understand. Attendance is mandatory and you will be quizzed every class for presence and understanding of lectures. Lectures as homework (3-5) pages of a scientific paper. Gives chance to earn 8% extra credit. Would recommend
Prof assigns an insane amounts of readings for a short multiple-choice quiz each class that barely covers what's in the readings. Has absolutely no clear criteria for his assignments and his lectures don't do much to teach, you really have to teach yourself when the midterm and final comes around. His exams will either be super easy or super hard.
Not a fan of making us read like 8 pages per class for 5 questions. Also not really clear on his expectations about what to do for assignments, tests are either ridiculously easy or hard. Funny guy in class though, which is nice since they're mandatory.
Not a good idea to take his class when you have another 4-5 class to study for as well.
Buckle up. This class is a rollercoaster.
Let's just say... if you are taking PHY II with him then good luck...
Not easy to understand at all.
Bruh. If you've never taken physics before, good luck. He doesn't really explain what he's showing you in class. There's weekly assignments. He also has extra credit quizzes. You have to go to the lectures because he doesn't post anything online. Don't get the textbook, he has notes that he's written that you should buy. This was my hardest class.
Dr. Czajkowski is an amazing professor that brings energy to every lecture and shows you the true beauty of physics. The textbook isn't mandatory BUT it's insaneeely helpful, shows you step by step how to do those problems you have trouble with. Although this was a tough class, it was the class I've learned the most in. <3 andrzej
Called us stupid and yelled at the class that we are dumb students in the class for answering an answer on the multiple choice on a midterm wrong. I think if a bunch of students chose 1 answer as a majority that is wrong, this proves that his lectures do not correspond to the lectures. We love unprepared profs.
So. Professor Czajkowski is a cool guy. I respect him! And he's really funny and wants his students to succeed. HOWEVER. He will make you feel dumb for asking questions he thinks are obvious. My advice is to stand your ground and ask questions anyway. He likes student participation a lot. I participate a lot in class and he gave me extra credit.
I am not strong in physics, but he makes it even harder. Calls the class dumb constantly. Can't skip classes bc he doesn't post anything. Assignments take long but help marks. Gives extra credit quizzes. Funny sometimes and has demos in class. If strong in physics hes ok if not take summer school w/out him. (dropped phyII bc of him).
Possibly the worst prof at UOttawa. He doesnt even teach the content and thinks that making his students memorize 40 formulas for a midterm is a good idea. I would not have taken this course if it wasnt cmpulsory and i suggest taking it in french over having him as your prof.
Funny guy but one of the worst profs at explaining concepts. He rambles on and on about non-physics related things and tries to rush through examples. He weights midterm MC questions 8% each, so you're screwed if you get 2-3 wrong. You get no cheat sheet (the formula sheet is horrible), even though every other PHY prof allows it. RIP your GPA
Czajkowski has been my archenemy for my entire undergraduate career. Was waiting for him to retire to take this course. Physics with him is the worst possible time you could imagine. He is useless and loves to go on tangents about how he hates teaching 1st year courses. Avoid him at all costs Ps: he repeats his jokes every year (hes not funny)
He's a funny guy so the lectures aren't completely boring. Explanations aren't the best. He wants his students to go to other sources to understand anything they didn't get from the lecture. In theory, this is easy but with a heavy course load it's hard (he expects that you prioritize his course over others). Final exam was unreasonable.
Prof Czajkowski is a nice funny guy but he is bad at explaining Concepts and that makes the class 20 times harder. He is heavy on multiple choice. Each multiple choice is worth 8% on midterms and 50 overall. Exam is 33 multiple choice each worth 4% and the 2019 exam was unreasonably difficult. He has online extra credits but they are always wrong.
funny prof but not very good at teaching the content... I barely passed the midterms but did better on the final since it's all multiple choice. Take this course with another prof or in summer school if you can!! (He said he doesn't round grades up, but based on my grade he did, so even if you know nothing you can still get a decent grade lol)
He is very intelligent, and does examples, but doesn't explain what he is doing and assumes the concepts are obvious. His midterms are also 6 multiple choice, worth 48% of the test, then 5 long q, worth 52%. He is very funny but rants and blames the class for poor performance results on the midterms. You'll have to teach yourself stuff to pass.
Tough course but he is a quite good prof in my opinion. You do have to get used to a slight accent but it's nothing major. Note that midterms involve doing actual math and problem solving but the final exam is more theory based questions.
he is one of the worst profs I have ever had in my life. He does not explain well. He makes jokes out of the students. He forgot to teach us some concepts before the midterm and then he figured out that after we did the midterm and just did not care about that. Some people like him because he is funny!WELL! we are here to study not to hear jocks
Andrzej Czajkowski is one of the best physics teachers Ive ever had. His explanations of concepts are clear, provided you introduce yourself to the topic first by reading the class notes/textbook. His weekly assignments are challenging, but are great practice for the exams. He cares a lot about his students, and his emails are hilarious! Easy A.
Czajkowski is probably one of the best professors at the University. Even though physics is considered one of the harder sciences to understand, he well explained the topics. Assignments every week helped you to get a better understanding of the idea.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR. He honestly is the worst prof you could ever get. He never stays on topic. Going to lectures is absolutely useless cuz he never explains anything and he takes attendance and he won't mark your stuff if u don't attend. AVOID AT ALL COSTTTSSSSSSS...
Dr. C made me laugh the whole semester, did that make up for how impossible the class seemed to be, absolutely not. I know getting a 30% on your first midterm is very discouraging, he basically designs the class for you to pass, the final was 50% and was a breeze, do all the extra credit and the assignments and push yourself in lab!!
One of those profs that always thinks he's right and there is no "arguing" with him. He also can't admit to making mistakes. Theres a reason there was a mass complaint against him at one point..
I had him for PHYS1321 and 1322 first year and the one thing I will give him is that hes funny. Other than that I found his midterms and assignments extremely hard. His final exam was 60 multiple choice questions which can be good or bad depending on if you want 60% of your grade to be based on multiple choice. Be prepared to do lots of work.
Horrible professor, I would definitely avoid as he sucks at teaching and he is not interested in what he's teaching. Hard tests exams and assignments too.
Funny dude, his lectures are very engaging. Marks fairly easily, if you study what he tells you, you will do fine!
Half of semester is all theory (no practice Qs) but majority of exams is calculation questions. Prof didn't explain (the few) practice Qs well, is rude to students asking genuine questions, & doesn't answer emails unless you send 4. Must teach yourself everything & can't escape disorganized/ineffective classes bc class is mandatory (pop quizzes).
This class is hard work but so is any other physics class. He is very flexible with due dates/tests as long as you approach him with lots of time before and with a good reason. He is very passionate about physics and his lectures are pretty bearable. The only downside is there are a lot of assignments, every single week, but oh well
(Had him twice: PHY1321 and PHY1322) Sometimes hilarious and a good sport about things when he's in a good/neutral mood. Imo very fair but loads of work needs to be done in his courses in order to do well.
Honestly, a very funny guy and very passionate about physics. It's a very difficult class and he dives deep into certain topics. But the class is very easy to follow if you attend his classes and complete the homework.
He is very amusing. I would go to class just to hear his opinions and jokes. Great atmosphere. I had him for PHY 1321 and 1322. His midterms and exams are not too bad because of the multiple choice (but was not during the pandemic so be careful). He is super approachable and nice. My favorite prof despite hating physics with a passion.
As someone who hates physics with a passion and does terrible with it, he managed to dumb it down enough so that even I could pass. He offers at least 10% of the class marks as bonus marks from optional quizzes. He also provides bonus points for those who participate by answering and asking questions. Overall great guy to teach a terrible course.
Terrible at teaching and is very obnoxious and is not open to criticism. Final exams are impossible so it will definitely bring your mark down, but labs will save your mark. Self-taught throughout the semester and gave up on the final exam. Also took his class last semester (PHY1321) and it was a bit better because it was mostly all review.
Sure, he's humorous at times, but does this make him a good teacher? No. He doesn't teach, he lectures. In this class, be prepared to self-teach yourself. I took this class in my last year, and hands down, worst teacher in my four years of studies. If you are first year, you'll look back at this class, years down the road, and know what I mean.
. He basically talked down to the whole class the whole semester and then decided to make us pay for a book of slides in order to study for the final. The grade was curved heavily since no one did well it seemed. He also shared that he doesn't believe in global warming during the final class so that was fun.
A highly intelligent man you can't not respect since he has a PhD in molecular physics. My opinion of him is that he is very straight forward, has a strong character, and is very opinionated. He is argumentative and you must persistently stand your ground in order to be heard. Students complain and struggle constantly. Avoid him if you can. GL.
You can tell he cares about what he teaches, although sometimes a little too much for the level that we're at. Doesn't explain stuff well. Lectures are often rambly and not very relevant to course material. Doesn't go through enough practice problems in class even though weekly assignments and exams are very problem-heavy.
Not a good prof. He was rude and spoke down to the class the entire semester. He took physics and made it into something that was dreaded due to spacy problem solving and lack of explanation. He was not receptive to technical issues during the pandemic either. He is very arrogant and makes students feel stupid for asking questions. Don't recommend.
His lecture is a waste of time and meaningless, he holds unreasonable amount of pre-class and in-class quizzes so I had to attend and suffer. He expect you to learn everything yourself, he teaches nothing, lots of work and reading, not approachable after class. I certainly can get A+, but I dropped to avoid seeing his face. Worst professor ever!!!
The past few ratings are extremely misleading. I wasn't an active student in his class but ik pretty well that he is so caring and helpful. he changed the marking scheme just to let us get better grades, he answers our questions pretty well, he DOESNT make you feel stupid, hes not arrogant! lots of hw n quizzes but physics is all about practice so.
very knowledgeable about this course, not the best at teaching, but physics is just like math u have to practice to understand. very friendly when you ask him questions, his post lecture quizzes and assignments kept me disciplined (what i needed especially during online courses) overall I love him and I wanna take physics 2 with him too!
Professor Czajkowski was very unaccommodating during the pandemic. Instead of a multiple-choice final like in previous years, he made every evaluation much harder -- despite student feedback. He belittles students when they ask questions, and does not have stimulating lectures. This class felt like it should be worth 9 credits & a Purple Heart.
Course load was the heaviest I've ever taken, with pre, during, and post lecture quizzes. Yes, for every. single. lecture. Plus assignments and labs. KNOW THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS!! He loved to reuse problems from post lecture quizzes and assignments on both midterms and final. Taught myself the content, lectures all theory and exams all calculations.

Brutal. Absolutely brutal. I struggled so much in this course, the workload was worse than all other courses combined. The midterms and final were horrible. I'm hoping to scrape by this semester. DONT TAKE THIS COURSE!
This prof is clearly very knowledgeable and funny. But does not prep us well for the tests. Lectures are mostly theory. I enjoyed his lectures overall and learned at a pace I didn't ever before. He pushes us to do better. It is hard and you may not get high marks, but you will learn. Doesn't explain all steps of a solution, causing some confusion.
Run far far away. This course was a mess. Professor is rude to students asking questions and never answers emails. Never absorbed anything from lectures and was forced to hire a tutor. Prof made many mistakes on assessments and materials but somehow blamed students for them. This course had more work then all my other courses combined. Just run
I feel like Dr. Czajkowski receives a lot of hate for his class just because people walk in thinking its going to be like a typical bio class where you just have to memorize. Although the online transition was brutal with a lot of quizzes the class difficulty was fine and if you studied, did his questions it was honestly not too bad of a class.
No clue why people are saying he didn't listen to student feedback... he removed pre-lectures quizzes because the we didn't like them, and gave so many bonus marks - for example, for the assignments we only needed to get 50% to get 100%, and if we did better we got weight removed from the final. Fun lectures, although the course is a lot of work!!
If you can avoid this prof do. As someone who enjoys physics, this class was a mess. He made frequent mistake on assessments, including the final exam which had 9 extra questions?? Lectures were completely theory based & he refused to take constructive feedback. He had mid lecture quizzes with no accommodation for students in different time zones.
his lectures were useless man like he talks about history of physics over explaining how to actually do the questions.
I LOVE THIS PROF! he has a reputation of being mean but his character is so funny. he gave a lot of extra work but if you practiced the question/examples he gave you, you should pass. the exams were long but the questions went from easy to hard and there was definitely enough easy ones for you to simply pass. i would take any class he teaches again
He is the worst prof I have ever met. He made the course unnecessarily harder than it should be. He made us buy a textbook that we never used in class. The material I needed to study for the final was more than all three other courses I was taking combined together. The course is a mess. Please do avoid this prof if you can!!
He's extremely knowledgeable and he's a great person. Tests can be hard and lectures can be hard to understand sometimes but he makes it possible to pass if you're giving a decent effort. I'm glad he taught this course definitely one of the most memorable classes I've had.
He had mid lecture quizzes with no accommodation for students in different time zones, like me. He ignores emails when addressing the issue. Tough grader and very heavy on material. Id rather spend time practicing than watch his useless lectures.
The lectures were extremely dense, since PHY1322 is extremely dense. Lots of untested material. In-class quizzes made lectures much more stressful than necessary. The midterms were both fair but the final exam (for PHY1321 as well) was totally brutal. The assignments are long and pretty tough but have questions that WILL come up on the exams.
THE WORST prof Ive ever had. Avoid at all costs! Even if u think u are an adaptable strong student, this man makes the material way harder than it has to be. Thankfully, he does give u opportunities to boost your grade. Exams are killer, you will want to legit cry. Dont take him, super un enjoyable person, makes ppl feel small and stupid for Qs.
Worst prof Ive had, made 8 months of my life hell (PHY1331 and 1322). His assignments are impossible, midterms and exams are extremely unreasonable. Never tries helping you to get a good grade (the first midterm average was 25% and 75%+ of the class got below 40, and I believe the max grade was a 60%) His quizzes were impossible
Run and Hide. Prof is funny but he can't teach. I had to read the textbook every night like a nighttime story. He provides a crazy amount of quizzes and assignments but honestly, you need to do them or you will fail. Tests aren't easy and the Final was Rough. Avoid this prof he will make your life a living hell, choose any other prof for your sake.
Lots of work if you want a good great. Like a lot of work. Otherwise, there's a lot of grading schemes that help students pass the class. As a prof, he's quite understanding of students and he listens. Very fair for a tough course.
Dr. Czajkowski will teach you how to genuinely understand and appreciate physics, but he will not give you an easy A. His lectures tend to me more theoretical than problem-based, but he does want you to learn. He offers a multitude of opportunities to receive extra credit for participation, so if you're willing to put in the work, it will pay off.
2021 semester: he was amazing. So smart and effort he puts into this course is amazing. made me love physics again. Attend his review sessions before finals. Yah you will have to work hard but this is physics, physics is never easy. One of the best profs i ever had, and only regret is not being in person.
I had never taken physics in high school so this class was a lot of work and at some points over my head but Dr. Czajkowski is an incredibly generous marker. His extra assignments are so worth it and doing the extra work pays off. He puts a lot of effort in making videos doing extra problems step by step. Honestly changed my perspective on physics.
Never took physics in high school and walked away with an A. Genuinely funny/gives us good advice in tutorials. Has review sessions before midterms/final. Also spends lots of time doing problem-solving. SO MANY OPPS TO GET EXTRA CREDIT. Basically free marks and takes weight off your final. Don't slack off on labs, do practice problems, and ur good
Honestly, I didnt do good in the class because Ive never taken physics before. But he was amazing and will do whatever he can to help students that are trying !!!
Great prof, explains things well. It takes some good effort for a good grade, but I think that the course's difficulty lies more with the material than the prof.
To do well in this course you need to have a strong foundation in high school physics so brush up on old notes. He also has a tendency to get side-tracked during lectures and tends to teach more theory than problem-solving, which can be pretty frustrating. Nevertheless, you can tell he has a profound love of physics and enjoys teaching.
He is quite the prof. Physics is a hard course and he can be very unorganized. He doesn't explain things the best, so I had to go and look up a lot of things afterwards. Lets put it this way: he likes to improve your application skills by just giving you the concept and hoping you can apply it to a random complex problem
Honestly love him, his lectures kept me engaged in what was going on and mans boosted my mark so much with all those bonus assignments and quizzes i really thought i was gonna fail
- I love this man, hilarious, interesting, and caring - Physics is hard, lots of textbook to read, but just like every University course - Everyone loves his personality which makes Andrzej so epic
Lecture-wise, I did not find them to be very useful I found myself teaching myself a lot of concepts. His midterms and exam were mostly fair towards what we were taught. He is very funny however he's not the best at explaining things, concept-wise. There were lots of quizzes, however, they were all optional and assignments were on the harder side.
Do not recommend overall. overall ratings speak for themselves.
The professor is absolutely awful. In order to even succeed at understanding what is going on, you will have to look at other universities' lectures/videos. He teaches it in such an awful way that the majority of the students do not know what is going on. Avoid at all costs. If you have to take physics, take it in the summer with the other prof.
Tends to be a bit disorganized, lectures are wild. Lots of jokes. His tests are made with enough easy questions that struggling students still have a chance to pass with a decent grade. Lots of bonus quizzes designed to absorb weight off the exams. I think he is probably not the best "first physics" prof however, as he will drive you hard.
No offence but i learned literally nothing from him like I genuinely tried at the start of the sem to do all the work and make sure I understand every concept completely and I thought I did but then I failed the first assignment cause it had like nothing to do with the lecture and then I gave up lol
Taken PHY1322 and PHY1331 with this prof. Very nice, willing to help, and passionate about the subject, he made it very interesting. A lot of questions that you will have on assignments are repeated on midterms and exams. There is a LOT he offers for extra credit and bonus marks to help your grade.
I'm not sure why this professor gets hate. I'm not the greatest student by all means, I try harded for my grade guys, but he's honestly a pretty good teacher. One of the funniest teachers I've ever had, he should have a solid 5. yeah im dik riding but like hes bare funny and hes my dawg. cant lie tho physics is just bare hard. id do a worse job tbh
He is a horrible prof and his lectures are quite heavy and useless because he doesn't know how to teach. His exams are much harder than the lecture and assignment questions, making it impossible to do well. This prof lowers my self-esteem and makes me question my existence.
He was a great prof! Not as scary as people make him seem. Very organized and has a clear grading criteria. He cares for his students and is very helpful. The course content is difficult but he is great.
The course is difficult but he is not as scary as people make him seem. He is very fair and has a clear grading criteria. He is helpful and cares for his students success.
I had 90's in high school physics and yet the first few assignments I did scored a fail. Lots of problems you should do to help your understanding and he will take time to help explain things to you. He offers lots of bonus credits (15% of lecture grade) which help the average so do all of them that you can. Overall, great guy that cares for grades
Hilarious, extremely smart and teaches the content well. Exams are similar to assignment questions and example problems solved in class, I went through all of these. Offers A LOT of extra credit (15%) and exams are marked very generously. The content can be hard, a lot more in depth than high school physics and he expects strong comfort with math
This class is VERY HARD. Professor Andrzej does offer 15% extra credit though. The assignments are super hard however he does go over some of the assignment questions during the lectures. Google can and will be your best friend in this class, LOTS of post lecture quizzes or assignment questions are copy pasted from google, learn how to research = A
WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE HIS GLORY!!!! MUST TAKE FOR PHY1321!!!!
Truly the GOAT of Physics Professors. Incredibly hilarious. fun lectures and very generous marker. While lectures are complicated, he still gives hours and hours of extra recordings to make sure that everyone learns the material. So much extra credit, that it is almost impossible to fail this course. Was an absolute joy to be in his class.
Czajkowski is passionate about physics and expresses loads of humour during his lectures. However, he often gets lost in this passion forgetting touch base with his students. He provides ample opportunity for bonus points and is personable. He understands that most of his students are from a biology background, wanting nothing but success for them.
This is prof is definitely not the best out there as I had to teach myself most of the course but, he is very generous with giving extra marks and assignments to help boost your grade. He does not make the textbook mandatory but most of the assignment problems and midterm questions are taken directly from the textbook.
Sometimes gets temperamental, but is a great lecturer and open to answering questions. He's also a fairly easy grader.
A lot of emphasis on examples from lectures on exams. GO TO CLASS!! Assignment and quiz questions are great to prepare you for exams. Very entertaining and well thought out lectures.
15% extra credit available, midterms are easy to do well on with generous partial marks, lengthy assignments, lectures are worth going to.
One of the best teacher I've had so far. He's really passionate about physics and open to answering questions. Offers a 15% extra credit and and exams are marked very generously. Content can be hard but all the exam/midterms questions are from the post lecture quiz and assignment questions. Very helpful and entertaining!
Literal Icon. Words cannot describe the experience. Jk they can. He's generous with extra credit and marks. In order to succeed you have to actually put effort in. Assessments relate to lecture content, quizzes and assignments he gives throughout the semester. Lectures are interactive fun and engaging. Overall great highschool to uni transition!
He's a really good prof and is very generous with grading. He does reviews for his students leading up to the midterms and has a positive attitude. Physics is a difficult course so there's going to be people that don't like him because of the course, but he's genuinely a good dude.
Professor Czajkowski is very passionate about physics. I had him for both PHY1321 and PHY1322 and he is definitely one of my favourite professors. In PHY1322 he was very easygoing, making jokes with the class often. The questions on the tests are taken almost directly from the assignments and extra-credit quizzes, so do those and you'll do great.
Andrzej gives many opportunities for students to get extra marks through his post lecture quizes. So unless your lazy you can get a extra 15% towards your final grade. He also puts all that content on his midterms and exams so if you take the time to do them it really pays off.
The professor is hilarious, i think he is very knowledgeable and knows everything about everything in physics. He re recorded sooo many lectures that hadnt recorded properly during class time to make sure we had recorded material. That extra step helped me a lot as well as having the textbook. His explanations were good, pretty straight forward.
If you do all the extra credits, and if you did well enough on other parts of this class, you can pass this course even with a 0% on the final. I only studied for this class during assignments, labs and quizzes, 8 hours before each midterm and 8 hours before the final, learn how to use the formula sheet and you can pass this class with a B+ easily.
Preferred him for 1331/1321, not as organized for this course, less preparation for midterms and final, not as much effort put into assignments and quizzes. Much harder than physics 1, even the multiple-choice questions. Still able to pass this class with a bad final as long as you did well on the other components. A good lab mark could save you.
Very knowledgeable, but I found that he overcomplicated things. He covered no problems during lectures, only the theory which is pretty much useless. As someone who didn't take PHY1321 before, this class was pretty impossible to understand. Doesn't curve, so do yourself a favor and take the same class during the summer with a different prof!
This professor is really good, make sure if you're having trouble GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS! If you're having trouble with a concept (despite sounding scary) - he's laid back and wants you to learn. He gives so much extra credit- and it's an easy A+ if you can get your hands on extra material.
Physics is not necessarily an easy subject to learn but this prof conveys it well. Its simply a matter of consistent practice reading the textbook and attending every lecture. Don't use Chegg on the assignments actually try the problems because they come back on exams.
Physics 1 can be tough, especially the thermodynamics part. This prof conveys the material effectively, and gives plenty of hw to practice. Lots of points earned in different ways. Make sure to actually do the problems because they come back on exams (exams are representative of what we learned). he is available outside of class
If you do all the homework, you will do ok. He goes over most problems for the biweekly homework assignments. The lab portion is easy so it could boost your mark. Got funnier as the semester ended. Only class I laughed in. Overall Challenging course because it requires effort.
Good guy but mostly teaches theory in his lectures. Be ready to learn by urself. I did well only because I watched organic chemistry tutor on YouTube 24/7. Which makes this class time consuming and hard. But with the right prof, it would be so much easier
I didn't find his lectures to be overly helpful for me. I had to learn the majority of the content by myself which was very time-consuming. If you can take it in the summer because the summer prof is much better
Lectures are pointless. Does not know how to teach concepts and overcomplicates everything, so I ended up teaching myself almost everything. Assignments take wayyy to long to do and they are worth 10% of your grade. Probably the worst prof Ive had.
he offers many ways to boost your grade. the assignments take up a lot of time he posts step-by-step solutions to the questions afterwards. you can tell he i passionate and knowledgable, but taking this course without grade 12 physics was hard bc everything was very fast paced and you are expected to have very high knowledge in skills from hs.
You can tell he is passionate and knowledgeable, especially if you are in his workshop class (for ppl without SPH4U). But, his assignments are way to time consuming and hard & he does force you to know how to prove everything. At least one good thing is that does do mark boosters and Labs are also good mark boosters as well.
assignments take too long and he doesnt really know how to teach to non physics students
Although this was by far the hardest class (and 1321) I will probably ever take in my program, & it kept me up crying many nights, I loved having Prof Czajkowski. His professionalism and passion for physics is amazing to see in every single lecture. Class requires a LOT of self-teaching, as he focuses a lot on theory. He offers a lot of easy marks.
I have nothing negative to say about Czakowski outside of class, but if you struggled in the slightest with high school physics DO NOT take his class. His class was mandatory attendance because every lecture had a time-consuming quiz attached to it that was due 3 days later. I dropped the class (and my program) due to the stress it caused me.
He seems like a very nice guy, but I really struggled in this course. Part of it is on me (I had never taken high school physics) but tutorials were not helpful at all either. I tried learning through the non-mandatory textbook and whatever other resources but I could not grasp the questions to thermodynamics at all (kinematics was fine).
This prof cares so much about all his students succeeding and understanding material. He devotes so much of his time to help his students and provides so many opportunities to do well in his course, like countless extra credit work, up to 15% of your course grade. Happy to have him again.
I'd study from the online quizzes and assignments since that's where most of his exam questions were from, but occasionally he'd throw in some obscure question from the recesses of the textbook. He does give lots of extra credit outside of exams which was stressful throughout the semester, but great by the final when made sure I couldn't fail.
I had no desire to take physics based off previous experience in high school. I resented the fact I had to take physics. That ended up changing midway through the semester with the prof. The content is tough but the professor is more than fair and gave out numerous bonus points throughout the semester from online quizzes and assignments.
Prof. Czajkowski is really funny and he genuinely cares about his students. He made the marking scheme very flexible and always offered opportunities for bonus marks, even if tedious at times it does really help in the end. However, I don't feel like he explained the content well and I could better understand the concepts from other resources.
Professor Czajkowski is very funny and cares about students' success. Tests aren't easy but the marking is very generous (+ bonus questions too) and many questions are reused from quizzes and assignments. Midterms weren't too bad, but the final exam was very difficult. Lots of extra credit is also given and the labs are simple.
The professor covers a lot of material, so self-study is key. Doing the homework and using resources like unstuckstudy ai can really help. He cares about students and provides extra credit, but the course is still challenging. Overall, a rewarding experience with the right approach.
i cant read this guys writing for my life but he's kinda funny
Hilarious prof, horrible handwriting, hard physics coures.
Go to his lectures! If you fall behind it is hard to stay on top of all the extra quizzes, and assignments.
As someone who did not take physics in highschool, DONT TAKE HIM. He is a great guy & cares a lot about his students, but I recommend you either take him during summer or not at all. He assumes his students have lots of physics knowledge which is not the case for a bunch, the tut helped barely. First midterm cooked me hehe. Handwriting is horrible.
Don't take physics with this prof if you don't have prior physics knowledge. Very confusing and fast paced. He expects you to know lots of information already. However, his classes were entertaining and he offers lots of bonus points. He's intimidating a bit so it makes it hard to ask him questions. But, he knows his stuff and likes what he does.
You can easily pass this course with a B. Like everyone else said, there are a lot of opportunities for extra credit, like pop quizzes, assignments and post lecture quiz. That being said, I do not think he can teach physics to people who have no prior knowledge. I felt like I've barely learnt anything and was confused during most of his lectures.
He was nice and funny but his notes are very unorganized. It was so hard studying for the final because some lecture topics posted online we never covered and some we did within the same note. He also makes notes during the lecture and he doesn't put them on brightspace :(
Dr. Czajkowski genuinely cares about his students and has designed the class in such a way that you cannot fail. He brings humour to an otherwise serious subject and has made Physics enjoyable. Do you need to put in the work? Of course, but that was quite clear right from the start - many people have simply forgotten, hence the one-sided reviews.
If you didn't take 12/11U physics, this course is basically torture. The prof assumes you know everything from the previous years and often skips through parts of the solutions/doesn't actually finish the questions in class. He is often demeaning and doesn't really do a great job of explaining all the work. Lots of homework but, good feedback.
Teaches too much theory leaving little to no time to do practice in depth. Brightspace is messy but all he posts is an unfilled note. Also has a mild accent so a little hard to understand. Can do well but only if u choose to self-study. Quite a bit of extra credit available but assignments are unbelievably long. Overall meh and quite unapproachable
He does not teach a single thing and completes practice problems without teaching a lesson, making it incredibly difficult to actually understand the concepts. He doesn't post any of the practice problems that he completes in class. This class took all of my time as his assignments are unbelievably long. Take anyone else if you can.
In the first mudterm I achived D I hoped to just pass the course. In the second mid I solved all past exams and achived neay full mark. He his soo generous . Imagine I got A and I meeded two marks to get A+. Believe me in the start u gonna curse him and in the end u will see him as ur saver
Attend the classes, don't rec if you're not comfortable with 12 u material
In all honesty, the only reason people hate this professor is because of the difficulty of the course but that's not cuz of the professor. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He gives them extra credit from the start and if you do that then you should be good. Beware though, the course is difficult so put in the work from day 1!
It's just a really hard class. I hadn't done physics in over a year so I screwed myself with that. Prof is fine, class is just hard
Lectures are super interesting, but this course will make you wanna cry yourself to sleep all semester long. Prof explains the concepts very well and he gives lots of opportunities for extra credit (23% of grade); they are very time-consuming but helpful for the exam. Overall, get ready to study for this course as much as for the others combined!
Professor Czajkowski is very caring and hilarious and gives many opportunities for extra credit. The final was a little tough but overall fair if you study hard and in advance. His syllabus is well detailed and instructions are concise and straightforward. His midterms are very similar to the assignments.
Dr. Czajkowski is an amazing prof and I unfortunately will never take him again as he teaches purely first year physics courses. He gives a lot of extra credit, and while this may come off as "too much work" for many, the quizzes are optional, and the assignments help immensely towards the midterms. My goat I will miss you and your humour
I've had Dr. Czajkowski for both PHY1321 and PHY1322 this year and I have to say, he's arguably the best prof I've had this year (if anything, he'd be tied for it). Super clear on his grading schemes, quite generous on marking, and although gives a lot of work, makes it worth it by having it count for extra credit. I'll miss him
This teacher get unfair rough reviews. He is honestly one of the most caring first year profs!! He clearly indicates what is going to be on tests, and provides a lot of opportunities for bonus work to bring up your grade. HE IS AN AMAZING PROF!!
This course and professor taught me to critically think and challenged me more than my other courses, but if you can take the time to understand everything, it is not bad. Professor made frequent mistakes in assignments and sometimes exams.
More challenging than other courses, but putting in work on your own time will be beneficial. Assignments and post-lecture quizzes speak of larger volume of problems compared to PHY1321.
I would not wish this guy on my worst enemy.
He is so funny but oh my god physics is actually hell. It's tough because he expects you to have a foundation in physics before his class, even though 1330 is for the students that didn't take it in HS. He gives TONS of practice questions and extra credit so that's nice.
I don't think these ratings do justice to him. I had him for 1321 and 1322 last year and I would 1000% take his class again. He is funny, caring, and provides lots of opportunities for students to do well. If you are willing to put in the work you will do more than just fine. Physics is a hard but the way he set up the course makes it a lot easier.
Quizzes at the end of most lectures but they encourage you to pay attention especially when some lectures are boring. Multiple choice questions on the midterm and exam are mostly based off key terms he posts. Hard long answer questions on midterm/exam which kind of tanks you but if you do the extra credit work he will save your grade in the end.
Tough class, but if you practice a lot, you'll be fine.
Very good prof, he's funny and likeable. I did drop the course, but it had nothing to do with the prof. I think his lectures are very engaging and he explains things pretty well. However, he does rely on a lot of previous knowledge for the course and it was somewhat difficult to keep up with workload. Overall, great prof but tricky course.
Although I HATE physics (and I mean me and physics are worst enemies) it was very enjoyable to come to class and sit through his lectures. Lots of cool demonstrations and he has a big personality & is very nice. Content wise I would never wish this on my worst enemy but honestly its not the profs fault its just physics.
Professor Czajkowski makes physics quite enjoyable, he's a very clever and interactive guy, he's definitely got a big heart towards his students. The course is very difficult if you are not spending 2 hours doing practice questions after a lecture. As a first year student adjusting to the workload, its a lot but its made worthwhile by his humour.
This guy honestly ruined any interest I had in physics going into this class. His lectures put a massive emphasis on everything adjacent to the topic he was teaching and he couldn't do practice problems to save his life (all on you). All the tests seemed to be graded very fairly with lots of part marks but boy does this class kill your confidence.
Amazing prof, gives tons of extra credit, super approachable after class and is hilarious. The class itself is really difficult though and was more work than all my other classes combined as the assignments are long but are helpful for midterms and exam which are all difficult, and I wish he'd post his notes or record his lectures.
He is a great guy as you will see by the other reviews, but trying to learn from his lectures is incredibly difficult. Personally I felt very lost as there's no practice problems with answers and no lecture notes provided from class. An incredibly frustrating semester than was purely a result from this class and this teaching. Avoid if possible
This guy is funny as hell. His lectures could be better, but if you know what you're doing, it's fine. Assignments took a bit of time, but aren't too hard, and serve as good practice. Midterms were pretty easy all things considered. Final was lowk brutal, but he gives so much extra credit it shouldn't be too bad
At the beginning of the semester, I thought I was cooked because of the prof. After the semester, I was cooked because of myself. Its a hard course from start to finish but extremely rewarding. The prof is very passionate, funny and tries his best to teach every topic thoroughly. Final was challenging but he gives a lot of extra credit.
