This teacher is very confusing. He knows his stuff but is not good teaching the material. He seems to be bothered when you ask him questions. Be aware of pop quiz. His grading system only he knows what’s going on. He does not have time before or after class for questions.
He says attendance doesn't matter but it does. Don't miss any of his classes. He gives pop quizzes and credit for being there. Horrible professor. Please take this warning seriously. If you can take any other professor please do so. HORRIBLE teaching style. IS NOT CLEAR. Has no time for students to talk about a grade. Very unorganized professor.
Horrible professor. He obviously knows his stuff but he cannot teach it. Has ZERO bedside manner and makes innapropriate comments. Makes mistakes in grading HW,exams and quizzes so be prepared to have to stand in a long line of students after class to make sure he recorded your grade properly. Too preoccupied with his personal life to teach.
Unorganized, missing grades, teaches the class how to use a calc. but then doesn't let you use it on a test. Never consistant in his teaching style. Has an attitude with his students. Makes lude comments to students. Attendance is not required per syll. but if you miss class you miss points so yeah it is required. Be prepared to learn nothing.
Unorganized. Doesn't have grades recorded properly or at all so be prepared to fight for your points. Syll. is based heavy in exam/final so be prepared. Allows students to learn material with a calc. in class then doesnt allow them on tests. Inconsistent teaching methods. Has no time to go over a grade. Uses wrong scantron keys when grading tests.
Lenard is great at math but is a horrible teacher. Attendance is mandatory, even when he says it isn't. Pop quizzes almost every class, awfully difficult mid-term, I studied 10 hours 6 days a week for this class and only scraped a B, tutors basically helped me pass this class, not Prof. Lenard. Also, be prepared to fight for your points! Avoid
His great. a lot of people don't like him. but u just have to listen carefully, don't take it easy, take it seriously so you will pass. study all the time especially a day before the test. be careful on missing a day because he gives pop quizzes often. he's still great though.
Professor Lenard is very helpful. I wouldn't have passed math if not for his willingness to teach & explain concepts over again. He has the patience of an angel. Definitely worth taking.
I'm about to graduate and I've got to give it to him, that he prepared me well for future classes and life after college. Can't forget him saying "I'm here not only to teach you about derivatives, but mainly, to teach you work ethics". It surely paid off! Thanks dr. Lenard!
BY MID SEMESTER, STUDENTS WAS AWARE THAT THEIR ATTENDANCE WAS 20% OF THEIR GRADE. AT ONE POINT, MR. LEONARD FORGOTTEN HE TOLD THE STUDENTS TO TAKE HOME THE WORKSHEET OF THE DAY. THANKFULLY I HAD PROOF BY MY NOTES THAT I WAS ACTUALLY PRESENT ON THAT DAY. MR. LEONARD COULD IMPROVE BY REMEMBERING WHEN HE TELLS HIS STUDENTS TO TAKE HOME CERTAIN
He is one of the better math professors i had. If you attend class,do the homework, and try to understand the material the tests are straight forward. Took me half the semester to figure that out. Its not an easy A, but im glad i had him. He explains the material really well trys to teach at a rate so everyone can understand. Would take again!
Very unclear, finals are super difficult
It's early in the semester but must say this guy actually makes math interesting. He is very kind and straightforward, there is no homework and that's helps a lot.
I didn't realize how good he was until I went on to my next level math class. He totally prepared me to succeed. I've never been in a math class that had so much class participation at 8:00am. He made himself available for help for an hour after class. He helps you build good work ethics for future math classes.
I haven't taken a math class in 7 years, and even then it was remedial math. I always thought I was terrible at math. This teacher not only caught me back up to where I should have been and I'm doing well in math for the first time in a decade. Tests are all at the testing center, take them twice and keep the better result. No homework AT ALL.
He is really good , love his class.
I always struggled with math and tried my hardest to pass the class, I need just 6 more points I was missing on the finals to pass the class when I messaged him hoping he would sympathize with me and give me the 6 points to pass, he said no, because I never did the practice tests, reviews or went to him in person to ask for help.
he is an ok teacher. his lectures are hard to follow unless you know the material before hand and they are very boring. i ended up teaching some of my classmates myself by doing the homework. pretty much every student had a hard time. as a student you must be proactive and study hard yourself.
I hate math with a passion, but Mr. Lenard helped me out whenever I needed help. As long as you pay attention and take good notes you'll survive. I got an A because of him!
Professor Lenard is by far the best math teacher I've had since middle school. He explains things very clearly and uses the board often which helps me greatly since I'm primarily a visual learner. The work is simple and straightforward and is based on execution rather than completion. The optional study sessions he held helped me a ton as well.
Let me start off by saying math is the death of me. Lenard is the best math teacher I have had. He breaks down everything to make sure you understand. He has online homework, but he wants you to actually know how to be able to do math. Make sure to ask questions. He's a great teacher but tough because he wants you to succeed.
He is an okay teacher, the lectures were fine not the best tho. He had some snarky comments from time to time and got a little mad if asked to explain again. Grading was based on attendance and 3 tests. The only good thing was no homework. I wouldn't take him again.
Math isn't my best subject. He skims over people who don't understand and refers to his previous classes when not everyone has taken them before. Judgmental on handwriting yet he can't write neatly himself.
He didn't really explain things.
Absolutely perfect, I've never done so well in a math class. He explains the information beautifully and even better, no homework!!!
Notes were very hard to follow and scattered across board. All homework is done online around 29 homework assignments total for the course. Worksheets given in class optional to do ( hard to pass if you don't ) Total of three tests and a final. Extremely hard at grading, tough class to pass.
He's not the best but I did just fine in his class despite math being my weakest subject. His lectures are ok. I mostly learned everything with the awesome online homework program which is easy to use. Total of 3 exams during semester which aren't that hard. If you do the online homework & study what you're supposed to his class is easy to pass.
One of my favorite teachers. All homework is done in class, so he can help you if you need it. There are plenty of other resources provided for studying on top of the worksheets. You even get to take your tests twice!!! Plus he has a great accent that is awesome to listen to and his lectures are interesting and easy to follow! Would take again!
Avoid this teacher . Very harsh grader and and gives a lot of hw . I took him over the summer and expected a lot from his students almost like he prides his students struggling. There were 3 major test and A LOT of pop quizzes. Attendance is not mandatory but if not there wont pass.
lenard is a great guy with a dark but light sense of humor. he prides himself in what he does and if you let yourself enjoy math as much as he does, youll have a blast in this class. in all honesty, i am a mathnut so i did read the book and practice on my own time, so it does take effort, but i mean, math isn't mean to be easy.
I took his Math 126 eight-week course which I expected to be a lot of work but his teaching style made this class way more difficult. The methods he uses in lecture are different from the methods used in the homework so you have to self teach to get passed the homework. Lots of quizzes and he is terrible at explaining concepts. Avoid his class!!!
Dr .Lenard is amazing to explain things in the easy way. He makes the text book easier to understand. I will take his class again if he teaches MATH 96 and 122. Because my major requires that.
For math 95 its harder than 120, he does a lot of pop quizzes, he will announce every other one. focus more on class work because the pop quizzes are based off of that then the hw. Hard mainly because i took the 8 week course but overall good class. I also took 120, even better, more layed back. No pop quizzes or hw, and you 2 trys on each test
Math is not my strong suit and I took this course during the summer and the class was Mon-Thurs at Charleston. Very tough. He does offer help but you need to ask for it.
Prof. Lenard is very passionate about his field. Although I understood the material, it can be sometimes hard to understand how he introduces new topics. I sometimes found myself having to look over the textbook to better understand how to complete a problem. I wouldn't take him again, but he was an okay professor.
Professor Lenard's rating does not do him justice. Want an easy A? This class probably isn't for you. Want to spend your time and money actually learning something that you can use one day? This teacher is for you! Just pay attention, take notes, do the in-class assignments (no homework), and study a bit before the tests and you'll do fine.
His way of teaching made math easier to understand. You can turn in assignments through his email if you miss the class a few times. You can retake the test once, he will take the higher score. No homework. He will not round your grade even if it's .99. Your answers on the test must be precise, if it's a very close answer, he won't give the points.
I took this class for the summer and surprisingly, I actually did pretty good in this class even though math is not really my strong suit. He makes it seem like math is understandable, you just gotta be attentive when he is discussing.
He was a little hard to understand and also with the typical lack of sympathy that comes from most math majors. The book he advised also didn't prepare for the tests all that well. Overall I would not recommend it for people that know math is not their strong suit.
Take him if you're decent with math. His class is very straightforward. His exams are based on the worksheets. He has pop quizzes, but he gives you major hints the day before that there's a pop quiz. It's hard to find professors who are actually passionate about math. If you think his class is hard, you're either not attending or not studying.
I enjoy math and I'm pretty good at it so I found this class to be very easy, however, he does tend to overteach and make things seem more difficult than they actually are. He likes participation and interaction, no homework just classwork, and you get two attempts on each exam. Would definitely take his class again.
Professor Lenard's rating does not do him justice at all. He is one of the professors that I have learned so much from. Math is not really my best suit that's why I had to work harder in able to get the grade I desired. There are no homework but everyday you'll need to do classwork. This is the only class that I actually look forward to everyday.
He is the best professor i know, if you have a question he well definitely answer until u understand. of course, u have to attend class because there is no home work class work only and if you practice the quiz, you will definitely pass the exam. if you really need to success in Maths , you should choose his class. he is the best.
I do not know how this professor has such low ratings. Maybe he was different back then but now he is different. Professor Lenard is caring and always wants to help. You can reach out to him about anything and he will answer very sincere. You just need to put in the work and dedication, and you'll do fine. I recommend this professor.
TOOK HIM FOR MATH 120 FALL 2020 CLASS HAD TO SWITCHED ONLINE HE IS HORRIBLE FROM THE START SAID HE WOULDNT DO THE LECTURES AND BASICALLY WE ARE ON OUR OWN HE WILL ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE BUT IF MATH ISN'T YOUR STRONG SUIT IT'D BE NICE TO HAVE A LECTURE EXPLAINING THE COURSE. DO NOT TAKE HIM
This guy is a jerk.
In high school, I failed math terribly because the teachers didn't care enough. Professor Lenard was AMAZING! He cares, he's easily reached by email with any questions. The lectures were so helpful and he would go over anything you were stuck on as many times and ways as possible until you got it right. The tests were easy. Definitely recommend!
bad at math and he made it so easy he was clear and very helpful I didn't ask for much help because my husband is good at math and helped me when I did need help he was amazing 10/10 amazing thankfully I do not need another math class but if I did I would take his class again in a heart beat his accent can be a little rough sometimes but worth it
I took his online summer course and it wasn't easy. There was very few grades so each one counted. Each quiz also had some history questions which I thought was ridiculous because they weren't easy to cheat on. Each quiz was 10 questions and we were given 45 minutes so if you understood the material it wasn't too bad.
Not much interaction with the professor due to the class being online, but the professor kept us informed and gave tips via email. This was my first math class in 10 years and did not find it too difficult. PowerPoints were helpful and his videos did a great job explaining material. I would get textbook too. I would take again. Thanks teach!
Sends many email updates to inform you whats coming up. Turn something in late and it will be counted as a zero including Exams even by 5 min. Not too much work just a matter of turning things in on time. No extra credit and no retests. Best to see an embedded tutor if struggling. Typically responds within 24-48 hours when messaging.
Professor Lenard is a great math teacher for students getting back into math. I took Math 120 online and the class was structured in a way that was very easy succeed if you wanted to and easy to get help if you needed it.
Took this class online and I don't regret it. He gives you the option to attend his lectures, but still there to help you if you need it. As long as you understand the material, the quizzes/exams are a breeze. He assigns weekly quizzes, but as long as you stay on track, you should be fine. I'd say he's a fair person.
He is very nice. He gives you the option to attend his lecture. Online textbook is provided for you. There is no midterm or final exam and you can do all the assignments in advance. He is always willing to help out his students. I highly recommend taking MATH 120E with Professor Lenard.
TAKE HIS ONLINE COURSE!! He made math so easy. If you are looking to get an easy A and not have to do a bunch of unnecessary work he's the best. Whenever I email him he answers within minutes if it's at a reasonable hour. He does not require a text book or for you to attend the lectures its recorded to watch when you can.
Wasn't an easy class at all. He also wasn't concerned when it came down to personal issues.
Great professor! He's always ready to help when someone needs it. No lectures. Everything is split up between quizzes and homework assignments. Very clear about what he wants. No exams. Very encouraging! Great professor to take if you're just starting college. Strict attendance policy. The syllabus says everything to expect. No Jump-scares.
I took Math 120E online and had him as my teacher, he was awesome. I would often come to office hours to ask for help and he would give great explanation step by step. he's very patient and I would totally take this course again. As long as you do your work and turn it in on time, the class it self is very simple and easy.
Professor Andrzej is a great math teacher. He is able to explain concepts clearly that makes it easy for students to understand. Power points are great.
Class is easy if you already have a good understanding of math, but personally as someone who struggles with math, the teacher was no help at all and makes you feel bad. He expects you to teach yourself with videos that aren't even his.
I was convinced I couldn't do math until I took this class. Homework assignments have unlimited attempts until the due date. Textbook is provided. All assignments are available for students to work ahead. Videos provided in the modules are short, clear, and easy to understand. Lectures are recorded and not mandatory. Study and you will succeed.
4 instead of 5 stars he sprung a last-minute required extra credit test after I had already thrown away all my detailed notes because we were supposed to be done, and he included two topics from sections we never did in this class. Print out the homework write how you solved the equations with the formulas and use those as your notes for tests.
Super straightforward and nice guy. He had the course end 2 weeks early so we could focus on our other classes. We technically didn't have a final exam, so he gave everyone an extra credit quiz in its place. Love him!
Okay, you all are pushing it with Mr. Leonard. He's amazing! I took his online class, and he was very understanding. He may not allow late work, but he is accommodating with everything else. Plus, why are you all doing your work late anyway? He made it clear from the beginning about the BBB meetings, the syllabus, and grading.
So easy, he's clear in the beginning of his expectations. You put in the work for the grade you want. Plenty of resources. Watch the videos & do the practice questions. Homework is unlimited attempts. Tests were just like the homework/practice questions. He's available on BBB and quickly replies to emails for any concerns. Doable while working FT!
Those who say Mr Lenard's course was awful or hard has a problem themself. His course gave loads of opportunities, giving multiple attempts to perfect a quiz, having a BBB meeting incase you don't understand anything, and answers emails on time. I've never seen him once, but I could tell you he's passionate about teaching. Just don't pass late H.W.
Great teacher! Many opportunities to do well in his classes. He Gives you many resources to succeed, if you study and do the homework you will do fine.
i wish i could take more classes with this professor. the workload was very reasonable, and i thought the textbook was very good. note that this professor DOES NOT ACCEPT ANY LATE WORK EVER! despite that, if you have to miss some of the assignments, your grade will still be fine. if you use the resources available to you, you will succeed
Two in person tests and one online test. Failed one of my in person tests, due to being nervous, and he called at the end of the semester to "discuss grade concerns." Instead, he had put me on the spot to answer questions from past tests I did well on and seemingly accused me of cheating. After expressing that I didn't have notes with me (1/2)
(2/2) and that I needed them. He was asking statistic questions on a chapter test I did 27 days ago... claiming I "shouldn't need notes" and acted confused with my struggling without them. I was embarrassed and felt degraded. He's an easy prof, but be warned about that part of his class if you aren't good with math or remembering specific steps.
Do NOT take this professor. I had him for MATH120 and was the worse. I got so sick and tired of how his treatment was towards his students. If you are struggling with math he will make you feel the worse like he did with me/others he is not willing to help so might as well not ask for it! I do not recommend to anyone. Took it and never ever again!
He gave our class the textbook pdf. There if you needed help. Do all the hw. Test 1 and 3 were taken at home. Test 2 and 4 were proctored in person. Good thing about his class is once you test for a section you never see the material again. Everything is open book and notes. Gave us an extra credit comprehensive exam at the end. He was great.
3 in person exams 1 at home. I rarely do reviews but felt this was necessary. If math is your weak subject I don't recommend this professor. His lectures are unclear/confusing, I ended up teaching myself everything from the textbook. He is rude and condescending when you ask for help and clearly doesn't care about students grades.
He explains things in a confusing way. He seems to get very distracted by other things that he MIGHT teach in the future while explaining the current lesson, and his tests have unclear instructions.
One of the easiest math classes I took. It was simple: you watch the YouTube videos and do the quiz. The quizzes have unlimited attempts, so you can do them as many times as you want. He doesn't do late work, so do your quiz on time! Besides that, it was a great class!
Horrible teacher. If you are not good at math dont take his class. He is not good at explaining and always has an attitude.
I enjoyed this professor! He's professional and straightforward. I passed with a B+. Don't expect handouts and prepare to study like a real college student. I sat at the very front of every lecture and made sure to do my own studying to ensure I understood the material. He is pop quiz heavy but it kept me on my toes and I appreciate that.
Professor Lenard was a clear professor. You had unlimited attempts on homework. Tests are in person, but it's an open note. Late work and extra credit are not allowed. It was a simple class and pretty fun. I wish he did 126. Overall, if you are taking 120, take him!
I wouldn't recommend the class if you struggle with math.
Very easy class. Textbook is provided for students and you're allowed to use it on online quizzes. 4 exams at the end of each sections and have to be taken at a testing center.
I quite literally have no idea why the other reviews of this professor are bad. If you watch his youtube videos and review this class is an easy A, you also get unlimited attempts at the quizzes. For the failures of this class, my only assumption is they didnt review and study the content. There are only four exams you have to take in person.
I took the Web-Remote version of this course over the summer and it was relatively easy. If you struggle with math I suggest choosing another professor, as you will be teaching yourself most of the material. Textbook is via pdf. There are 4 sections and 4 exams. It is open notes and the material does not repeat. *Study the homework for the exams.
took his summer 120e course and it consisted of only 4 units which were easy to navigate. he is caring towards students and wants them to take accountability for their success.
