Great professor for this neuroscience course knows the material really well, and make it enjoyable to learn and understand by integrating equiptment from his own lab, to teach with.
bad teacher. i dropped out after two weeks.... never understood what he is saying.
even though he has a thick accident he teachers the subject well. he's understanding and willing to help the students by giving the test over. overall good teacher

Dr. Wieraszko is one of the best prof to talk to. He knows the subject matter very well and is always willing to help students out. He is quite intelligent and a nice person.
ONE OF THE SMARTEST PEOPLE ALIVE
One of the best and smartest teachers there are. He is very helpful, even though the subject matter is difficult
Sometimes hard to understand ,his test are hard and nothing off of his study sheets helps you .Smart man but tests are rough.
Extremely smart man, his tests ARE tough but if you read the book you will be fine...study guides do help if you already understand the material and his accent definitely grows on you...you being to study saying certain words like he does! :)
tests are pretty hard and he is not helpfull in that department
He makes a lot of effort to explain to material. You need to really pay attention to what he is saying. Tests are tough. Need to know you subject matter well. Over all he is a good professor
he is the most terrible professor in 160. he has heavy accents, and his tests are extremely hard. most people drop or fail. he teaches so slow in the first exam, so students cannot consider to drop before the deadline. also, his questions are so technical. the bio 150 final is made by him,so imagine your life in his class.
Goes slow for the first test and then rushes like crazy at the end ... smart man, but not very respectful and not very helpful, BUT fair at the end :) ...final is a breeze after studying for his tests... curves alot, fair grader overall
he loves his pointer
I can't stand this professor! He is arrogant and not helpful at all. Having a PhD doesn't make you a good teacher. I learned nothing from that man. I did well on his tests due to my persistent studying. I will not give this man ANY credit for what I have learned!
He gives perfect lectures, don?t miss them.I don?t understand that one,who said he is useless. His tests are absolutely difficult, but honestly- departmental final worse. It is very difficult to pass.Study a lot, and he will cover all of tests include final. He is good. I and 3 more students got A, from25. 6 dropped class, and9 got D&F.Be raedy guys
Hard professor! Cant understand anything he says. Tests are so difficult
If you need an A please save yourself the stress & do NOT take him. Honestly, one can know exactly what the hell they're doing and still do terrible on his exams. Its sad how even though we were allowed cheat sheets, A LOT of us still messed up big time. His notes on the portal were useless. however he knows his stuff just has a problem explaining
I tend not to believe the bad ratings on rate my professor, bc i believe they are written by lazy students who didn't put in the work... BUT PLEASE LISTEN.. this man is terrible. In my 4 years as a hard working student who really really student, i have never had such a HORRIBLE teacher.. just impossible
But he really challenges bio to the max! LSITEN UP!! his tests make seem like eveyone has a difffent format, but dont let the color fool you ;) and for the final just do what u gotta do!! i got a good grade and did well on the final so good luck!
If u need a A in this class, stay away from this professor. His exams are not straight forward and extremely hard. you are allowed to use cheat sheet but it will not help you at all. His questions are totally different.
You seem understand what he taugt; but when you have the exam, you will feel difficulty. If you want get A, you must study very hard.
if youre a hard working student, who wants a good grade, stay away, one could still kno wat their doing and still fail or get C's on his exams. hes impossible worst professor in the bio department.
Without a doubt this is one of the hardest classes i have ever taken. But i learned A LOT from him. You will have to study a lot but to get a good grade in this class is not impossible. Just apply yourself and you will do well.
An A is possible. Read the assigned chapters. Questions on exams are very specific. Keep that in mind when doing you cheat sheet. His notes from BB are useless. Don't waste your time with them.
VEry Hard professor, you really need to read the textbook in detail. his exams questions are confusing. But overall he's a nice guy, for the 3 exams we had, he let us use cheat sheets, curved the test which really helped, curved the final. He wants you to pass, willing to explain stuff with you in his office. you just have to work really hard.
He is a great professor to take if you really want to learn the material. His exams are kind of medium-hard, but he curves, and gives individual curves as well, i.e. if you show improvement on your next exam by 20 points he'll curve your previous exam by 9 points or so. I got an A in his class, and i studied from his notes and the text. He rules!
A lot of material to cover in this class, so he teaches through the material quite rapidly. Tough accent to get used to. Overall good professor though and a wealth of information. You must be very self motivated and a disciplined studier to get through this class!
he is hard to understand. He has a very think accent. He follows the textbook but he doesnt give you a specific outline of what to study. He gave us a review but it was two pages of everything on each chapter. He doesnt tell you but he will give you extra points if you answer questions before the test. For ex, participate.
Horrible professor. He has a thick accent, his class is super boring, and his exams are ridiculously difficult. They are multiple choice a-e and he makes them so they look similar, and you easily second guess yourself. I've went up to him for help before and he is very reluctant to help you.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! His exams are insanely difficult and timed!! Before you know it youre out of time!... Lab quizzes are like mini exams!Doesnt seem to want his students to pass. When asked what he can do since everyone had faield his quizzes he mentioned no extra credit since everyone would do good!!! he assigned it though thank god!! But stay away
He is extremely difficult. Lab quizzes are insane, long and timed 15 min with a lot of fill ins and diagrams to fill in also. Accent is very very tough to understand, almost impossible.Need huge lab reports also. Much too much for so little time. Take another professor if you want to pass.
This Professor is Brilliant, he is also very helpful if you need him. A lot of extra credit is given and believe me you will need it. All in all I liked him.
Here is the truth about Professor. His class is VERY hard but.... He gives LOADS of extra credit point which add to your final grade. He is super super smart, has a great personality and will listen to suggestions. I worked my butt off for that grade. Study back of chapter questions for his tests in Lecture. Study all diagrams in workbood for Lab.
This professor is very helpful and even though his class can be hard the lab and tons of extra credit make easy to do well in his class
He is so impossible!! He gave way too much work to his lab students and he gave very little extra credit. His lab quizzes are like mini exams and weren't on what he said to study. His lecture exams make absolutely no sense. He is a smart guy but if you want to get above a C don't take him.
He doesn't read off of slides, which is brilliant because it makes you pay attention to what he is saying. If something is important, he will repeat and emphasize it. Read the textbook and take notes while he speaks. I took this class during the summer and managed to get an A. He is hard, but gives extra credit that really helps a lot in the end!
He is a smart Professor, doesn't read off slides. When he talks, it is ALL in the book. Gives, lots of extra credit, which can give you an easy A. Exams are based on what the book says. Recommend this professor, very helpful.
Very caring professor. A little hard to understand, and the class gets very boring. You must read the textbook or you will fall behind. He gives a lot of extra credit which is very helpful and you can see he is very caring.
dont understand why he has such low ratings. look if u work hard and try ur best he sees it and helps you, he gives extra credit and curves but it will only help u if u work hard. had him for lecture,he has a bit of an accent but its not a big deal.if u have any questions,he tries to clarify and responds to emails quickly,id highly reccomend him.
very helpful! those who gave him low ratings probably didnt study enough. he has a little accent but its not bad,he clarifies if u ask him too and hes very quick to respond to emails with any questions/concerns he wants everyone to pass but YOU NEED TO WORK HARD FOR YOUR GRADE. no professor will hand u over a made up grade.
Worst Professor! Can't understand him, he's very rude, won't answer questions, changes sits for no reason, the slides are all photos NO WORDS! No review sheet for the exams! We don't get our exams back. What we study is not on the tests. I am a student with a gpa of 3.8 and I am failing these exams, as well as, everyone else. Average is 54 in class
The only good thing about this professor is that he curves. He's not a terrible professor IF you understand the material. If you don't have a knack for biology, it's a nightmare! DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR A SUMMER COURSE.
I took him on summer. His PowerPoint are all diagrams. Pay attention on class and take notes while he talked. His exams are about the materials that he had taught in class. Read the textbook to help you understand the materials better.
Summer Class: Exam1 pay attention to his lectures, write what he says down, read the text, look at his sample questions he posts on BB (solve them) & his pop quizzes (try to remember the questions), he repeats a few for the exam. Exam2 do the same. Exam3 write what he says down & read the text. Departmental:Study Chapters 25,23,12,14,16 in detail.
PAPER TEST. STRONG ACCENT. MUST STUDY !! LAB REPORT EASY 100 LAB QUIZ (PAPER) EASY 100 IF U STUDY !!! LEC EXAM TOUGH !! ONCE AGAIN U CAN GET AN A !!! IF U PUT UR HEART AND LIFE INTO IT !! OVER ALL HES A GREAT AN SMART PROFESSOR !! OH HES A NEUROBIOLOGIST SO ANSWER CORRECTLY WHEN U DO !! GOOD LUCK SUMMER 14
Tough class but he explains very well. The accent is not a problem. I took him for summer so he wasn't able to cover all the materials. His exams and surprised quizzes are hard so study hard and note the topics he focused on during lectures. He gives you lots of chances to get extra points. In the end, you will realize he is a good prof.
His lectures are very interesting. Very passionate about Neurobiology. Very thick accent but you will get used to it over time. His exams are difficult and tricky with the wording. Lectures are powerpoint diagrams. Study the textbook chapters in detail because it will show up on the lecture exams. Excessive amount of work for a few extra credit pts
Dr. Wieraszko is an amazing professor and a wealth of knowledge. Some find him intimidating, but if you participate in class and actively read the textbook, you'll do fine. His lecturing style is very direct and straight forward, as are his exams. Gives a LOT of extra credit! Do the work and you will get what you deserve. Would take again for sure!
Very difficult grader, in fact, probably the strictest I have ever seen.
He's a good professor but he's very tough. He knows the subject very well and explain it well. He gives a lot of extra credit which can save your grade. His exams are difficult so you need to study extra hard. In my opinion, he is one of the best professors.
He is very knowledgeable and tough grader, but over all he wants you to learn. He will give extra credit to boost your grade. If he knows you are trying he will help you.
Brilliant Neurobiologist. Any Science class that he teaches are generally difficult subjects. You cannot expect to just show up, not study, and get an A. It doesn't work like that. Like anything else in life you have to work your ass off! He gives sooo much xtra credit. Oh and ppl do so bad on his tests bc they dont put ENOUGH EFFORT IN. Trust me.
Lectures are incredbly long and confusing. He talked for 2 hours straight no breaks and no communication with students. Purely monotone and give pop quizzes depending on how the class is doing. His tests are hard, confusing and incredibly tricky. He's a good person, but not a good professor.
His tests are tough,he is monotone he doesn't prepare you for the tests, if you want to pass get ready to learn the material on your own, don't bother doing the extra credit, hours worth of work isn't worth the .2 extra points you'll get, his lectures dont prepare you at all for the final, most of the final was based on urinary system and hormones
Dr. Wieraszko is a very knowledgeable person. He's someone who cares. He gives you more opportunities to get an A. He gave us more than 12 extra credits plus a chance to have a curve at the end. He curves every exam by 5 points. I studied the powerpoints and got an A. IDK why others have such a hard time. Do all the extra credit. I'll recommend him
OK first off, he literally spent FOREVER on the first section of the course. Then, he spent MODERATE amount of time on the second section. AND THEN, for the third section, JUST breezed through it and BAM we had the exam. He is not organized. ALSO the Final Exam is essential for your final grade. ESSENTIAL. if you fail that, you fail the class.
Prof W is aight I would say, but i need to retake the course but with another professor. i didnt fail the course but did fail the 3 exams but did amazing in lab thanks to Prof Z. and i did well on the final. DO THE EXTRA CREDITS! I wish I did. Would've gotten a B if I did them SO DO THEM! and STUDY hard for the final. it matters more than anything
Idk why people brag about his e.c, sure he gives like 3 or 4 of them all worth 2 points added to the final grade which sounds awesome, but he is the strictest grader i have ever encountered, out of my whole class no one got above 1 point at most on his e.c assignments, everyone usually got between 0.2-0.5 points, n they are very time consuming
I have him rn, hes a nice guy but hes just too hard to understand. He gives pop quizzes and the beginning of every class, he asks individual students questions about the past lecture out loud. He also passes around a sign-in sheet for attendence. You have to work HARD to get a good grade.
Prof Weiraszko is a very knowledgeable teacher.. sometimes explains things further than the textbook which makes lectures harder to follow. Although tough, he is fair because he gives generous amount of extra credit. This is my second time taking him and I'm sure to get an A. Studying for his class is a MUST!!!
I think I lost a few years of my life taking this course.
Honestly if you plan on getting into the nursing program do NOT take his class. You will fail and you wont be able to get into the program if you retake it. Hes a really tough grader. His tests are really hard. He claims to give extra credit but he barely gives u credit for them. Do not take him!!
The person below said not to take his class if you're planning to get into the nursing program because he is a tough grader. Well, if you cant pass his class, forget about the nursing program. BIO 150 is a joke compared to NRS 110 and 120. And he does give you full credit for the extra credit assignments if you follow the guidelines.
He is a great professor & is a genious. He just reads off picture slides. You need to spend many hours reading the textbook to do well. He also gives pop quizes that are extra credit & also gives around 20 points extra credit from his assignments. Definitely not an easy 'A' but if you put in the work you will do fine.
Gives a lot of extra credit so do it from the start, it helps you in the end. Attendance does not count at all. Tests are very tough! Questions are hard to understand and very difficult. I would absolutely not take this professor again. Only thing that saved me was the final and the lab.
If you complain about the work and effort you must put into this class then do not go into the medical field. I do NOT want you as my nurse or whatever else you are going to school for. He is brilliant. I have learned so much being in his class. Def do the EC. EC helps a lot and is relevant to the material you need to learn. Would take again.
Many of us study and hope to get by in the sciences towards our careers. This professor must have lowered his own standards and should be teaching BIO GRAD school. Avoid his class for LAB. Quizes are like major exams. Intense memorizing. Adds material not covered in class. Not clear. Reports. Forced to go above and beyond for 1 credit is absurd.
Never felt so hopeless before in a college class. Very Extreme for a 1 credit LAB class. There needs to be some type of adjustment when people at your lab table are failing quizzes and are unsure if they are going to pass. With hours of energy and time needed to be spent on LAB, rather than lecture class. Something very wrong with this picture.
LAB. Honestly, what is going on? Students are failing quizes in his class. Unsure what to do. One student walked out. Hours of studying and memorizing with no time to spend on your actual lecture class. Tests you on info not covered in class. No Outline. Extreme. Intensely Particular. Not Clear. A bad situation.
Horrible. Quizzes way too hard and specific. Grades unfairly. Hard to understand
You would assume the professor would grade easier in the summer, clearly I was wrong. Multiple lab reports are given, quizzes are like tests and the grading seems unfair. Difficult to understand. For a 1 credit class, it's definitely a lot of work.
I never hated Bio until i took this prof. Definitely made my life a living hell. His exams were harder than the departmental final itself. i would definitely not recommend this professor. STAY AWAY FROM HIM. Not understanding at all. Made me second guess my major.
Exams are hard and gives heavy lectures. Don't have enough time to finish his exams. There are pop quizzes that are also hard.
Exams are hard and gives heavy lectures. Don't have enough time to finish his exams. There are pop quizzes. Wouldn't recommend.
This professor isnt as bad as everyone is making him seem- yes his accent is heavy and yes he is particular and gives lab reports every week, also expect to be in lab for the full 3hrs. But his quizzes are legit straight from the lab book- if you study that your golden and he tells you EXACTLY what to study, if you dont mind doing the work take him
He's a tough cookie, but not impossible. Gives lots of extra credit, only worth a couple of points to your overall grade and they're work, but it definitely adds to your grade at the end. He gives a few pop quizzes, so study material from class. Gives EXTENSIVE reviews before tests but mostly goes off that for tests. He gives all materials to pass
I regret taking this in the summer. Being that this class was 8 weeks, the professor was really hard and if you do not study, you won't pass. There were no review sheets to study from. Pop quizzes are given along with extra credits... What made this class even more difficult was that the textbook had mistakes that he even pointed out.
Listen to me, if you have to take him DO EVERY EXTRA CREDIT. It can be the difference in passing or failing. Show up to every class and dont miss any quizzes - they are extra credit but they really add up a lot if you study for them and do well. He does not give reviews before the exams/final.. pay attention in class and read EVERY chapter.
def not the worst bio professor i've ever had. you have to work for a good grade. I mean REALLY work for it. know every word in the textbook/his slides. he offers extra credits. he let us have a cheat sheet on our last exam, average score for the exam was still a 52% though. bio is hard and though he doesn't ease it, he doesnt make it harder either
Great professor, but if you dont study you will not pass.
LET ME TELL YALL, if you have the option between him & another professor, take the other professor. accent heavy, quizzes/exams dont make sense, doesnt care if you pass or fail or looks in the best interest for you. I wish I could write more than the limited characters we have. but you get the point. dont do it to yourself. have a great day.
Absolute shame of a professor. Extra credit worth only 1-2 points compared to the 50 points you lose on a test that he gives no time for. 55 paragraph-styled question with 4-5 paragraphs for answers done in 50 minutes? Yeah, not possible unless your Jesus F. Christ. This class is a burden to take, so please heed this advice and choose someone else.
Avoid taking this professor! He is not an easy person to understand and his test result in a 50% average among the class. He offers extra credit but he is a very tough grader on them.
He wasn't as bad as everyone made him seem, his tests although are very hard and you should definitely study for them, he gives extra credit which can help your grade a lot in the end. He does lecture heavy but your attendance is not mandatory at all. If you read the material from the text book, slides and the reviews, the class won't be so diff.
He is kind and understanding, unfortunately hard to understand his lectures because of his accent. I found myself spacing out a lot. I only did well because it was remote class but I did put in an enormous amount of work for this class. Please do ALL extra credits! you will need it, trust me.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. I only took this class cause it was online, I thought it would be easy to cheat but NO. He makes up his own questions for tests/quizzes so you will not find them online. The only way to really get a good grade on everything is to pay attention to his very boring lectures. Save yourself the trouble .
sorry to slap it into your face but this is a stem biology class? Giving bad reviews because of your lack of effort taken into the work is not the professors problem lmao. good luck in your job if this is your attitude. i like how the comment below mine is a baby complaining from not passing for cheating. boi I can expose you from the gc watch me
