Andy is a wonderful teacher. He knows his stuff and loves to teach. It is hard, but worth it in the end
fabulous teacher, organized as hell, expects a lot, but that is a good thing. One of my all-time favorite in all of the profs I've seen at three separate universities I've attended.
Wonderful class! It is a lot of information but he presents it in a great way. You are expected to learn it all, which was fantastic. He made it fun and I learned so much. Study, study, study, and it will be easy!
Took both from Andy....best teacher at Utah State. I'm at Pepperdine in Grad School now and Andy's classes still rate as two of the best I've ever had. Take him if you want your education to be worth something.
It's been 6 years since I've taken Andy's classes and I'm not working on my Masters at another University. I still look back on his classes and consider them the best two classes I took in my entire undergrad and rival any grad class I've ever had. Andy's the greatest. Take him!!!!
Andy always made the class so interesting and his comments were so off the wall and hilarious, you saw a new side of him that you don't see in the larger classes. Lots of studying required, but it was worth it.
Andy is such an awesome teacher. He expects so much from you and it really makes you work hard. It is easily the hardest class I have taken so far but I have learned the most from him!!

The class absolutly sukced. And his teaching style was not clear at all
If you get behind in his class your dead! Have to work your butt off! Most people take this class twice! He knows his stuff!
It's been 10 years since I took Biology at Utah State, but I still look back on it as one of the most interesting and imformative classes I have ever taken. Andy is a great teacher. Take his classes, you won't regret it!!
The man is BRILLIANT. His tests are hard but he teaches very well. Keep up and you'll do fine. Strange man but possibly one of my favorite professors ever. :) He tells such interesting stories.

His class is hard, but he is very intersting and thorough. And a lot of people do have to take his class twice. I did! But compared to the anatomy teacher at UVSC he is great!
It's the hardest class I've ever taken but all that it takes it time. He's a great teacher, but you cover a lot so studying is so important! He's a great teacher, if you work really hard it's not too scary but his tests are very tricky
tests are very hard
Really good teacher, keeps your interest. Smart and as ridiculous as he is it's fun to be in class. Really hard tests, but just requires you to know your stuff. Plan on working hard. but don't be intimidated. He is not very personable. not one of your buddy buddy professors
Awesome, awesome teacher. He is very thorough and worth all of the hard work. I don't think I've ever learned as much as I did in this class. He has almost an 85% success rate with students getting into med school because he's so wonderful. Study hard!!
Andy is an AMAZING teacher, he covers A TON of information but his tests are killer hard
Andy is brilliant. You have to get used to his testing style, but I have learned more from him than any other undergraduate class. Well worth the time :)
He is a great teacher, but his tests are terribly hard. It is very hard to get a good grade in his class.
He was very good! I learned a lot even though his tests were hard
He's a dang good teacher but you better expect to sleep with your textbook.
He was not helpful and seemed to be more focused on making the students look stupid and failing as many students as possible rather than helping. The exams were very difficult because he tests on miniscule details not the main ideas. and lots of information is covered anyway. I found him smug and pompous and would never take another class from him.
His class was EXTREMELY hard. You have to study every free second of your life. If you are a hardworker and stay motivated the entire semester you'll do well in the class, if not, don't take it.
Andy is such a great teacher, but be prepared to study, study, study!! His class is extremely hard mainly because of the tests. Andy likes to pay attention to every single detail and will make sure to test you on those little details. You will study more than you have for any other class, but if you're willing to work butt hard, you'll do fine.
Probably the best professor I have had. The course is time consuming but Andy gives you all the tools to do well. He loves teaching and expects you to know your stuff. Take his class. He will make your education worth while if your willing to study hard.
Great teacher. Very good information for real life and career.
My favorite class this far! Learned a whole lot!
Hardest class i have ever taken so far but most rewarding!!! I might not have the highest GPA but im not paying for grades, im paying for an education and Andy is the best professor i've had. Be prepared to STUDY more than you study for all other classes combined, but it is so worth the time!!!! FAVORITE PROFESSOR
Probably the best teacher I have ever had. He is so smart and explains the subject very well. Beware his class is insane, be prepared to study for hours and have no social life if you want to do good. Very very smart and tough. Although those study habits learned are great with future classes
Very difficult exams, a LOT of material but Andy is an excellent teacher and provides you every opportunity to learn what you need. You need to put forth a lot of effort but it really pays off in the form of true learning.
Best teacher I've had on this campus! He expects a lot though.
Hardest class I've ever taken, but it's not impossible to get a good grade. Be prepared to devote your life to this class! Andy tells everyone how to succeed in his class and if you spend your time doing what he says instead of complaining how hard his tests are then you'll do fine. Andy is really a brilliant professor. One of my favorites.
Andy treats his students like dirt. He makes them feel as though they're the stupidest kids on the planet. I could tell he is enthusiastic about his job, but he moves too fast and expects you to forget your other classes so you can only focus on his. He also cancels a lot of his office hours...
Hate him.
This class was horribly hard...I studied more than I ever had in my life and still didn't get the grade I wanted. Most people have to take this class twice to get the grade the want fyi..
Great Professor, have to study hard for his class but he is more than willing to help. I took two classes from him at the same time and did well in both so it is possible despite what some naysayers would have you believe.
This teacher is ridiculous. I hope they get rid of him before other people have to take from him. We stated the class with over 200 people...by the end there were only 50. I studied minimum of 3 hours a day, went to every lab and ever SI and barely pulled a B-. Awful.
Great teacher, requires you to learn the material, and if you are willing to work hard, he will help you in anyway he can
I took anatomy with Andy back in 2006 - I love that he has his lectures available on the podcast because my main studying was listening to his podcast - I got a B in the class doing this & I was happy with my grade. He was really funny in class too - awesome because anatomy is pretty boring so those stories really helped keep my attention on class.
He is a tough teacher. That being said, I have never learned (and retained) so much after a class, which is a good thing! I got an "A" in the class AND IT IS POSSIBLE FOR YOU TO GET THE SAME GRADE! You just have to be willing to manage your time and study. Don't get lazy in Andy's class. He is one of the best professors on campus!!!
Great Teacher, he expects you to work, simple as that. If you are willing to work, he will help you in anyway he can. If you are lazy, then you will most likely die in this class. Oh, and don't wimp out and take Anatomy from Brigham City or somewhere else. If you can't handle Andy's class, you aren't cut out for Medical/Dental/Nursing
worst teacher i have ever had
Definitely have to study, but let's be honest-you have to study for all bio courses. Everyone has to buy the book of notes that he compiles for his course, and if you honestly go through, trying to understand the material instead of just memorizing, you'll do fine. He teaches mostly from the notes & is more than willing to help outside of class.
Tests are absolutely ridiculous. They're designed to trick and confuse you. If the test format were changed to essay, it wouldn't be so bad. Multiple choice is horrible, and no indication of how much you actually know about the subject. All it tells you is if the student knows random details about something, not actual understanding.
If you're not pre-med, he's not willing to help you get through the class.
Amazing teacher. His class prepared me for my future career more than any other class. If you like to apply what you learn and actually remember the material longer than for just an exam, that is what Andy will help you do. As long as you take studying seriously and don't get lazy you should not have a problem in this class.
The guy is an amazing teacher. He explains things in great detail, without getting sidetracked. He definitely knows his stuff, and expects you to know as much as he does by the end of the semester. He sets a high expectation for his students. His exams are the Extremely difficult, but straight forward. If you don't plan to study, you'll fail
Andy is brilliant, likable & funny, knows this subject in and out. That being said, describing the course/tests as extremely difficult is a major understatement. I previously had a 3.7 GPA, never less than a B in my entire life, read both texts cover to cover twice, attended every class & even SI sessions, and still struggled to get a C.
Andy is incredibly difficult. His tests are seriously ridiculous. The good thing is you leave the class knowing a ton of stuff! But its a like trying to take a drink from a fire hose. If you're takin his class you better be 100% dedicated baby.
Andy's goal is to "weed out" all the weak ones. He has no intention of helping his students and can never answer any questions- He is way more concerned about sounding smart-using big words and stuff. he LOVES his reputation of being a hard teacher. he's VERY close-minded and opinionated. if you ever talk with him, be prepared to be looked down on
Andy is a fantastic teacher. Seriously he knows his stuff. But he is very difficult. You need to be all in if you are going to take this class. Don't be scared away by people telling you how hard it is, just make sure you schedule your time right. He is very entertaining when he lectures also. I recommend taking one of his classes.
Andy is a wonderful teacher. He uses stories and concepts that really help understand the material. However, if you are planning on passing his classes it is IMPERATIVE to study outside of class. If you study and understand his concepts you are golden.
Andy classes are NOT for sissies. But don't just wimp out because you think you cant do it. His lectures are totally worth it, and even though the tests are impossible you will come out of the class totally amazed about how much you know.
He was great! Yes impossibly hard and extremely challenging butI would recommend this class to anyone who is serious about their education. You learn so much and he is really a great person who is willing to help you if you go to him. Good luck!! Study hard and don't worry you will survive, just be prepared to stay in Friday nights and study :P :)
Andy Anderson is in fact a tough teacher. But he really knows his stuff. He cares to help everyone learn and offers plenty of resources for you to succeed in this class. I've never studied harder, but came out knowing so so much. He is a good portal to success and has a lot of knowledge about the medical field.
Definitely one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. Make flashcards, study with a group and on your own, read what you are told to read, and you will do just fine.
Great teacher and very fun class. He's funny too. None the less this is a very, very hard class if you're looking for any kind of good grade it'll require a ton of time on your part. However if you like biology this is a fantastic class to take!
One of the hardest classes on campus. He prides himself on being hard and averaging a C for the class over 6 years. Uses difficult questions on his tests that are meant to trick you. You must study a couple hours everyday in order to pass. Requires alot of work just to pass. Most take it 2 or 3 times or end up taking it through Brigham City.
This is not an easy class by any means. You seriously have to study a good 12 hours a week every week. Make sure you read the clinical views. There are no easy points and his exam questions are meant to trick you. He loves to use obscure names and test you on minute details. Make sure you know EVERYTHING.
Andy is an amazing teacher, yes his class is hard and yes you will have to work a lot to get a good grade but he tells you exactly what to do to get a good grade and if you do it. you will. You will be so prepared for any medical career you go into. Don't wuss out and take it at Brigham City either!
this class is ridiculas! he makes you memorize unnecessary things, and apparently thinks everyone is going to be a brain surgeon. The tests try to trick you, the questions are seriously like solving riddles. GOOD LUCK!
Andy is great if you're going into medicine, but of not then his class is somewhat pointless. He gets really in depth and his tests are tricky. Don't take his classes unless you plan on being a doctor or nurse.
Tests are impossible. He tells you that you need to be able to think through questions to figure them out because they are 2-door questions. Then gives you 50 minutes to take a 50 question test. 1 min per question to 'think through it' like he wants. He has a LOT of TA's that are really helpful and his lectures are interesting, but that's it.
If you're not going to move on to a medical career, do not take this class. You will absolutely hate your life. If you are going on to a medical career, get used to hard classes. He's insanely hard. I burst out in laughter while i was taking his final. All that said my intelligence went through the roof while taking this class. Don't be a wus
I didn't go to class at all. All I did was make flashcards of everything Andy had in his giant book of notes and memorized them. This class is not hard if you actually study. Straight up memorization, don't have to "think through" anything, really. I think the hardest part was the lab quizzes. Andy really cares. Fair exams, excellent class!
Great class!! Andy is a very good professor. He explains concepts so well. There is no doubt that his test are hard and you will be studying constantly. But I assure you it is very worth it to take this class, especially if you are going into the medical field. I feel well prepared to enter in the nursing field after taking this class. :)
Andy Anderson is a crazy hard professor. He knows his stuff but he has about a 60% fail rate in his class. Get ready to quit your job and take only one class if you want to pass.
I could talk to Andy for hours and be completely entertained. He's an amazing person. But, his test questions are riddles. If you're not good at riddles, you won't pass. I'm a 4.0 student, and flunked my first two tests. I dropped this class and I will wuss out and take it at Brigham, where I'm not expected to devote my life to it just to pass.
Andy explains things well. Is approachable and will let you talk about your test answers, if you can give him good reasoning you may earn points back. The lectures go through a ton of material, was challenging to learn, but very interesting. Make sure you read the articles in the book and the handouts! He wants you to succeed but you have to work.
Andy's classes have a LOT of information. The tests are brutal. But he does make it the easiest he can for you. He teaches well and covers material until it is clear. But if you don't study, you WILL fail. I've never studied more for any class than this one. But it is rewarding in the end. It's a great class, especially for pre-med students.
I honestly have nothing good to say about this professor. He is smart, & he likes to rub that in your face. If you don't study 3+ hours a day, you will not pass. His tests are ridiculous and all questions are in story form. They are set up like riddles and can likely mess you up and cause you to get the wrong answer. Take it at Brigham City.
Andy is a great teacher. He knows his stuff and expects you to learn it too. His tests do get tougher as the material builds. Put in the time to study, attend SI's, and don't be afraid to ask for help. Andy is open to talk about tests and will award points back if you can calmly make a case for it. Don't expect this to be easy, learn the material.
I waited to take this class until my final semester before graduating, and wish I had taken it sooner. Andy is awesome. While there is a lot of material, this class is straightforward. Either you know the material, or you need to study more. I suggest you try to study an hour a day, listen to or attend Friday reviews, and go to some SI's.
Andy is the BEST professor I have ever experienced while at USU. However, his class in the most DIFFICULT class I have ever taken! He has lots of homework, excessive reading assignments, and hard tests. WHAT MAKES IT WORTH IT IS THE DISCUSSIONS! I took Bioethics 3100 and enjoyed every minute of conversation. He is intelligent, bold, and talented.
Expect to study for a couple of hours EVERY DAY! Read the articles and excerpts of the texts assigned. Go see Andy if you need help, he really wants everyone to succeed. Great teacher with real-life experiences. Make use of the TA's and SI. Go to the weekly reviews to get use to Andy's 2-door questions. I never worked harder, or learned as much.
Exam questions are seemingly designed to trick you. Why write exams that make students do mental gymnastics? I don't feel like every test needs to be difficult, they just need to make students show that they have been reading, that they know the material and know how to do the problems presented to them. This just sapped my motivation.
I thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Anderson's classes. He and the subject were interesting, he was very clear in what he wanted from students, and he offered many ways to help students out. The only problem: I was failing. He grades very seriously. You will definitely learn the material in this class, but expect to work for every percentage.
Andy is a great teacher, he clarifies if you have questions. However don't expect is to be an easy A (even if you have taken a similar class) Andy makes 2 door questions to prepare you for real life, real life wont give you easy recognizable multiple choice and neither does he, you will learn something new everyday and it is interesting.
Andy is such an incredible instructor! His lecture are super thorough and he really wants to make sure you get what you paid for in tuition. Utilize all the aides, study sessions, and labs he gives you in order to do well in the class. This class is basically a part time job, but don't wuss out at take it at Brigham!!! (Seriously, you'll regret it)
Made the mistake of taking 18 credits with Andy's class. The semester was brutal and was definitely one of the hardest classes I have ever taken, LOVE the stuff but he makes it harder than I feel it needs to be. I mean, it's just an introductory course! Don't get an old version of the text either because he tests you on stuff in the newest version.
Very interesting and fun class. Isn't the easier class because he likes to make "two door" questions so you really have to know your stuff but helps you really learn the material. Not impossible by any means to get an A.
His lectures are outstanding. I learned SO MUCH. But his tests get a solid F. He writes ambiguous and "read my mind" questions; only the brightest left-brained geniuses can figure out what he is thinking. He is reluctant to revise his grade, even when evidence of knowledge is demonstrated afterward. I would NEVER take a class from him again.
I have never had a more inspirational Professor. He was my favorite professor in my college career. I've been out of school for 16 years and I still refer to him and the things that I learned from him daily as a working nurse. His class was not easy and I did not get the very best grade but I am very proud of it because I earned it.
Human anatomy was not nearly as bad as I expected. If you have a good memory or some foundation in anatomy, you can do well. I never actually went to class because he records lectures but don't get behind like I did. Catch up is rough. Make sure to get all the lab points you can. I always made a list of hard words to memorize for fill in the blanks
Treats his anatomy class like it is pre-med and is more caught up with terms for diseases than actually teaching you anatomy. More than half the class dropped him in the first three weeks and are taking the course at UVU, BYU, SLCC, or the U. You would think faculty at USU would get a clue and get a professor who is interested in his students.
His class is great if you have nothing else to focus on for an entire semester. Otherwise it is a great way to ruin your college experience.
Don't wimp out and take this class in Brigham City or another school. If you put in the time and effort to learn the information, you will leave this class feeling smarter than you ever have. People who say that his questions are designed to trick you did not study. Every question is very clear if you know the information well. I loved this class.
He is a really tough Professor, but you will learn more in this class than any other class you will probably ever take! The tests are just as hard as everyone says, but if you put the work into this class you'll succeed and love it! He seems a little intimidating, but he really does care about you and how much you learn in his class.
If you actually want to learn something, take this class. Andy gives you a lot of information to memorize, so you'll spend a lot of time studying. I recommend at LEAST an hour every day. His questions are difficult, but that's because he wants you to know the material inside and out. Be sure to not fall behind in class. That will ruin you.
Andy is a really really good professor, his class is demanding, however if you are planning on going into any sort of health field I would highly recommend his class. I took it before any of my other classes and it was a lot of material, but now I have a really easy time in almost all my other classes because he covered so much.
Tough professor, if you are not willing to put in the time for the class you will not pass. But if you do you learn a lot of information. His tests are very hard he does something called two door questions.
Not helpful that he shares more information about himself than the material in the first week and then throws out tests that are extremely hard. At least he is upfront about that right away.
This teacher's awesome; being his student is a privilege. He's funny, & great at relating difficult material to conditions & experiences everyone in the classroom can apply these concepts to. Make sure to be very self-motivated with your studies, & adjust your schedule drastically to hella study if you get behind. Learn from the SI, UAs & TAs too.
I learned more in this class than I have in any other class ever. However, it also was unnecessarily hard. In general, I've been able to skate by with little effort in almost all my classes my entire college career, but I studied for hours every week and nearly failed. The tests are ridiculously hard. Unless you want to sell your soul, don't take.
Don't let the hype scare you out of taking Andy's classes! He is by far the best USU has for health students, the course work is way more manageable than people make it sound. If you are pre-med and cheat yourself out of the opportunity of really learning the material in Anatomy, Phys and Micro by shying away from his classes you will regret it.
Andy is an awesome professor and is very passionate about his job, he really cares about the students and wants everyone to succeed. If you are planning on taking this class or any of his classes be prepared to study 3 hours a day if you want to get a good grade. Also, do not put off the clinical applications as they can build up quick.
Andy is a fantastic teacher. I learned so much in his microbiology class! His tests are extremely hard. They are more like riddles, so be sure not to just skim through the question. He has a book of lecture notes that you have to buy that was very helpful. Read it thoroughly. Be prepared to study hard and often! This class makes others look easy.
By far the best professor I've ever had. Andy knows the material inside and out, his lectures are informative, and he provides you with every bit of material you need to pass. This was also the hardest class I've ever taken, you have to study a LOT. But as a result, I've never learned more useful information in any other class. Fantastic professor.
Andy is THE BEST PROFESSOR! Don't miss out on the chance to take a class from him. His anatomy class is so hard but I have never learned so much in my life. You can tell that Andy loves the material he teaches. He treats all of his students with respect and I have never felt uncomfortable or intimidated to ask a question.
If you are going into a medical profession, TAKE HUMAN ANATOMY FROM ANDY. If you go to Brigham City to take anatomy you are cheating yourself. Yes, it will be one of the hardest classes you ever take and it will require a substantial amount of study time (like multiple hours every day), but you will learn more than you have from any other class.
Andy's test questions are a riddle, if you know EVERYTHING front and back then you will be able to figure them out. Expect to devote your entire life to this course, I took 18 credits while taking this course and worked full time, somehow managed to study on avg 30 hours a week, and still failed. Andy takes pride in his students struggling
I took this class to satisfy the "recommendation" for grad school. Few students do like this professor because they learn a lot. Although I learned much, it was very intensive and required extensive work to do well. He generally goes over concepts but most is self-taught. His expectations are that you know thousands of terms in all aspects.
Yes the class is tough. It's geared toward students going into the medical field as a majority of the students in the class are doing just that. The exams were not that bad if you studied regularly and qualitatively. You've got to be persistent and repetitive just as in most classes in college. Andy is truly empathetic and wants you to succeed.
By far the hardest classes I have ever taken. Andy is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Don't underestimate the difficulty of his class. Tests are all trick questions. By many tears actual ulcers & neglecting all of my other classes I passed. You watch the class get cut in half throughout the semester as people drop out. Give us other options Logan!
Andy is a fantastic teacher! Anatomy was a very difficult class but I learned so much! If you study a lot, attend class, and take advantage of the aides you will be fine! Andy wants his students to succeed. He was always very willing to explain things and is super chill. He even answered my email questions on the weekends! :) 10/10 would recommend.
Andy is the BEST. I loved Human Anatomy even though it was hard. His classes were so engaging, interesting, and easy to understand. He is accessible outside of class and always emailed me back quickly when I had a question. He has lots of aides available so there is reason you should fail this class! Andy really cares about his students' success!!
Andy is incredible! He is extremely entertaining and loves what he teaches. Microbiology was HARD. He asked "two-door-questions" so you had to know the in's and out's of EVERYTHING he taught. He offered extra reviews two times a week as well as 5 or 6 aids to help. Incredible class!!!
Andy is an AMAZING professor, but you have to study CONSTANTLY for this class. I spent several hours every day studying. You learn so much, but you also have to devote nearly all of your time to it. His tests are VERY difficult, so if you do take this or one of his other classes, don't take any other difficult classes along with it.
This was by far the hardest class I've ever taken. The only grades in the class are exams and quizzes and his exams are impossible if you don't study. Prepare to study at least 4 hours a day to get an A. With that being said, this was the most interesting class I've ever taken. Andy knows what hes taking about and makes class interesting.
Andy is amazing professor, but his class is very difficult. The tests are very difficult, but in the end it is well worth it. You will learn so much, and if you put in the time and the work, you won't fail.
Andy's the bomb! I loved this class so much! It is CRAZY difficult and you will have to study a ton, but I learned more in this class than I have in any other class at USU! If you are going into any medical profession, this class is a MUST. Don't be a muffin and go to Brigham City! Andy is a super nice guy and is always willing to clarify material!
Adv Phys is a tough class w/ an insane amount of material that can be hell b/c of all the work it takes, but it's very rewarding b/c you learn so much relevant and interesting info. This class requires TONS of time, don't get behind. Andy's a good lecturer, but is prideful and purposely makes the class harder than it has to be to keep his ego up.
I loved Andy's anatomy class - that being said, it was insanely hard and required a TON of time. It was very worthwhile though to take this class and learn as much as a could, rather than opting for the easier Brigham option, especially when this class is a requirement for most medical field degrees. I highly recommend taking this class from Andy.
Hardest teacher I've ever had. Can't underscore that enough. Also one of the best teachers I've ever had. If you want to learn, take it from him. If you don't care to study hard, you will fail, guaranteed. His 5 credit class is the equivalent of about 8-10 credits. But he knows how to teach the material so that you learn it correctly.
Andy is a really good teacher who loves what he does, but if you aren't ahead then you are way behind and you will feel very lost. I took microbiology from him and found it super interesting, but it was very hard and I definitely had a few mental breakdowns. There are 3 tests and a final and he doesn't drop any tests.
Andy shows up a few token times, but as is his style, leaves 'teaching' to nice, but basically untrained TAs. Read that as little to no instruction occurring. You get limited say on which ONE system you get to dissect and almost no guidance on how to best do it. A disappointing class not worth the disproportionately high time and effort required.
the tests in andys classes are very difficult, and if youre not willing to put in the time and energy to study, you wont do well- you cant BS your way through the class. That being said, you will learn a ton, and there are plenty of helpful resources available . His classes are really hard, but theyre some of my favorites ive taken.
Your grade is only based on the points earned in lab, 3 tests, and a final. This class requires a lot of study time and hard work. I've taken both BIOL2060 &2320 from him. I have learned so much from him. He really has a passion for what he teaches and tries to make things interesting. Make sure to use the TAs, SI leader, and the Review sessions.
Although Andy is a decent lecturer, his labs are unorganized (due to unprepared TAs), and his exams seem to be disjointed from his lectures and labs. This class is definitely not one I would take from him again, however, he is easy to reach outside of class and willing to help each student.
This class was very time consuming but very rewarding. Expect to study hours everyday. This class seemed impossible at the beginning of the semester, but with the help of Andy and the tutors you can succeed. If you know the information, the tests seem easy. The labs seem hard at first, but if you study exactly what's in the book they are a breeze.
NO DROP TESTS!! You need to be prepared to do 2+ hours of studying per day if you want to be successful in this class! The tests are extremely hard but there is a lot of help - you just really need to use it.
Dr. Anderson has clear expectations for his tests, which is appreciated. However, his teaching leaves a lot to be desired. He exemplifies the title "professor" as he does not teach nor elaborate, but rather merely professes. You will be responsible for teaching yourself much of the required information, as it will be only briefly covered in class.
Taking anatomy and physiology from Andy helped me so much in my career. I was the most prepared (of my cohort) for nursing school and now that I'm in grad school, I am realizing again how incredibly glad I am that I took Andy's classes. Super hard, but the knowledge will stay with you forever if you put in the time.
This class has one of the worst organized labs I've ever been in (I'm a senior in biology). The lab quiz is given before you receive any instruction, so you'll have to teach yourself everything before you come. For the lab, you basically just stand there as your TA points to things on cadavers. Labs also don't correlate with lectures.
Andy has nothing to do with this class--he's never so much as shown up. The TAs were nice, but this class is not useful for preparing for the MCAT. Create a self-study program that works for you and save yourself some money and time.
Tests are way too difficult based on how he teaches.
Yeah, his classes are famously difficult, but he gives you lots of resources to help you succeed (including like a billion TAs and tutors) and he's super approachable, always willing to answer questions. He'll help you pass. I really, really enjoyed his class.
I am typically a straight A students. I get all my homework done on time and study well for tests. No matter what I did his test questions never made sense and I left more confused that when I started the test. Avoid him at all costs. He is not a teacher.
Andy's classes are challenging, with the assumption that most students registered for these types of classes are attempting the further their education in some sort of medical field. In addition to completing the course with an in-depth knowledge of anatomy, you will also leave with a better understanding of how to succeed in college.
Love this class! It's a challenge--tons of study time, review sessions, and SI sessions (all worth it). I have learned so much, and it's all applicable to my future nursing career. Andy is a fantastic teacher! Definitely would reccomend this class (as long as you're willing to put in the work :))
I have taken 3 classes from Andy. He is my favorite professor I've ever had. Material is difficult but if you listen to him and study hard, it will be the most rewarding class you ever take. He truly wants you to do good and gives you tons of resources. People who complain about him simply don't know how to work hard.
Don't believe any of these 5 stars. It isn't worth it. If you have a class that has to be taken from Andy, drop the class. If theres no way out, change your major. Actively trying to fail you. Believes his class is the online class you take on campus. Dilusional.
This class WILL teach you how to do well and work hard in college. Its a really really tough course, but there are a ton of resources. I didnt work hard in HS at all, so this course taught me a lot about work ethic. Would suggest, but you will suffer lol
I have such mixed feelings about Andy. He teaches you how to be a good student by giving you absolutely no mercy, which I appreciate. But if you are not ready to work 3+ hours a day on the curriculum, go to Brigham City. He teaches anatomy, but tests on physiology, which is really annoying. Ive had a lot of fun learning in the class, but its HARD
Andy is passionate about what he teaches, but don't take this class if you don't already have amazing study habits. He actively tries to trick you on the tests, and there were so many times I knew everything from the material and there were still things I didn't know. Really consider dropping this class for the first few weeks before its too late.
This anatomy class was by far the best class I have taken at USU and the hardest class I've taken. Andy's lectures were always interesting and he has a real passion for the subject. Details matter in this class! If you're not looking to study or put in any time, don't take this class. Attending the optional review sessions every Friday will help!
Andy is the reason I'm transferring to a different university. His class is impossible and he wants you to fail. I am passionate about anatomy, but it's unrealistic when you are required to spend 4+ hours of studying a day on top of your other coursework. Take this class at Brigham city if possible or you'll have take this multiple times.
READ ME Andy is hands down the most legendary professor at USU. His anatomy class is infamous, for good reason too. His lecture is unbeatable and a must if you have any intention of a medical career. Know that his exams require your best but you can get an A if you work your tail off 10+ hours a week. Dont be a coward and go to Brigham! Be a man!
RUN AWAY! DONT DO IT! DONT TAKE ANATOMY FROM HIM!
You will be wasting your hard earned money, time and sanity if you take his classes. I am genuinely struggling and don't think I can continue school. I am losing thousands of dollars because I have to retake both of the classes that he teaches. I don't know how I'm going to make it work.
Do not feed his ego by taking this class. He loves seeing people struggle and fail while the other 3-5% succeed. I cannot emphasize enough that you can know and understand the material and still fail.
Took his anatomy class Spring 2021 and learned so much. Learned what STUDYING was. Woke up at 5am and went to bed at 11pm studying everyday for his class. I'm sure it will be the hardest class I'll ever take, but my best advice is dedicate time for studying, talk to the TAs and make a good study group with dedicated people. You'll survive.
Andy is a great teacher--he is knowledgeable and explains material in a way that is understandable. However, he makes his test questions very difficult and obscure.
This is overall a really good class. You learn A LOT and you CAN be successful. However, you need to put in the time and effort. I spent 3+ hours minimum on this class every day. If you do this, you can do well and even enjoy learning the material. If you aren't doing well, it's probably because you aren't putting in the effort required.
Andy is just an amazing professor! You can really tell how passionate he is about this subject, and his lectures are engaging and fun. This class is a LOT of work though, get ready to study more than you ever have before. However, with the SI and review sessions each week, this class is very doable, you just have to be willing to put in the effort.
Get ready to study! This was the hardest course I've ever taken, and even though I spent hours studying, I still was unable to pass the class with the grade I needed. Regardless of that, I feel like I got a really comprehensive understanding of Anatomy. Andy is great in lecture, and he really knows what he's talking about, but buckle up.
Andy is a really good professor. He makes you work really hard. The course is hard, but he is a great teacher. Work hard, and you will learn and do well.
If you desire a career in medicine taking Anatomy from Andy Anderson will set you on the right path. I am currently a 4th year medical student and I constantly reference Andy's class, he gave me the foundation to be a better clinician. For this reason no one will ever replace Andy Anderson at USU.
I took microbiology and it was easily the hardest class I've ever taken but it was worth it. It made me push myself to the absolute max and I've never learned so much in my life. More than anything it got me stoked to be a nurse. Andy is unbelievably and sometimes unnecessarily hard, but his class made me a man.
By far the hardest course I have ever taken, but also by far the most I have ever learned in a course. (i took microbio) Andy holds his own review sessions as well as SI, and I personally found the SI to work better for me, so I just went to his lectures. Don't skip class if you can help it. Overall, glad I took it and also glad it is behind me.
Andy is amazing. He has taught me so much about human anatomy and has only made me 100% sure that I want to be a physician someday. He is very clear that the class is very difficult and will take up a lot of your time. But, like he promises, if you put in the work and genuinely care about the material, you will succeed in the class and learn very w
This is a lecture-based class. All lectures are recorded. You will be required to study for hours a week to succeed. If you want to learn a lot about human anatomy and common diseases, this class is for YOU. Also, make the most of your lab time. It's not everyday that you get to learn on a real human cadaver.
Current US MD student. I took Andy's class years ago. There helpful things from his class but he neglects clinically relevant anatomy to focus on minutia. He bragged to my class about letting a previous student utilize a cadaver for a scavenger hunt, which is totally inappropriate. Disregard those saying you must take his class to be a good doctor.
Andy is a great lecturer and really knows his stuff but the tests are impossible. Your grade is based ONLY on a couple of exams and lab quizzes. The tests are written for MEDICAL students and not Intro To Anatomy students. Nothing is straightforward and even if you know your stuff, the exams are impossible. Take it in the summer with Thayne Sweeton
The only As in this class are in his name
Anatomy has been the hardest class I have ever taken but! Andy is an amazing professor who cares about his students, he wants you to succeed! This class is so hard but it IS doable. As long as you put in the time and effort, you will do well in the class. Andy makes the class hard because he wants you to learn.
Anatomy is by far the most interesting class I have taken at USU. However, be prepared to study more than you have for any other class. Andy does not make his tests easy, but despite what you have probably heard this class IS NOT impossible. Andy offers so many good resources to get a grade that you are happy with, so be sure to use all of them!
Professor Anderson runs a challenging but rewarding intro anatomy class. Lectures are engaging, and the labs with cadavers are invaluable. Be prepared to study hard - Unstuck study was a lifesaver for me. Take it if you're serious about learning anatomy.
Andy's class was very difficult, but he is an amazing professor. He wants you to know your stuff, and I think that's reasonable. You will need to study a LOT, but it's worth it. He is super funny, willing to let you argue for your test answers, super willing to help, and made anatomy stressful but a lot of fun too.
Hard Class!! you gotta be on top of reading, showing up to lecture, studying, TA office hours, all of it for a half decent grade. He will tell you to "Jump the sinking ship" right as the withdrawal deadline comes up if you dont score 70% or higher on tests. There isnt much application to material other than lecture and lab which wasnt helpful
This class really helped me figure out that healthcare is something that I want to pursue. Andy's class is really hard but he gives you all the materials (textbook, course readers, review sessions, TAs/SI) to succeed. If you study hard, pay attention, and take advantage of the materials provided you will learn invaluable information.
Amazing lecturer, best professor I've ever had. However while in his class you have to study 3-5 hours a day. But since he teaches premed and nursing students, it's fair for the class to be hard, and he gives you soooo many resources. Most people I meet that failed his class didn't use them, or didn't take his tests serious.
