Welcome Andy!!! Best Math professor ever.
profesor Pogosyan is very good thecher, and he is understanding too. most improtant he his hottttttttt.
very clear at what he teaches, and also he grades it on a curve. Really good in a math class. so take his class he really knows what he is teaching. Oh and by the way i have to agree with the last person, Andy is one Handsome gentlemen veryy hotttt
grades on curve, usually gives 5 test with a final. Test worth 60% grade. Passing score is 55% for c. This class pretty hard to beging with, he makes it somewhat easy but not so easy that you can get an A without a problem. If you just need to pass take him,if you math major avoid him, and take somsone else. Night pro give test using scantron.
Andy you are my man. Very nice Armenian guy.Very knowledgeable guy. Keep going like that.
Very cool guy. Somewhat monotone but can be very funny. explains everything clearly and doesn't move on until everyone is clear on subject matter. Homework isn't mandatory but counts as extra credit on exams. highly recommend.
Cool guy. Very helpful. Reeeeal mellow. kinda reminds me of a thinner armenian Fat Albert. When he says Theta, it sounds like "teta". That's funny if you know Spanish.
BEST TEACHER I EVER HAD
This is the most self evolved teacher in history. He asks if you've got any questions, then when you do ask, he gets annoyed. He does not go over any homework. His teaching method is horrible, before taking the test for ch 3,he's already began teaching sections from ch 4.He's rude, contradictory and has no social skills! This teacher has a lot to learn
its my first day, but he teaches very good, i DONT GET MATH AT ALL!!!!!! BUT HES REALLY GOOD, and not to mention HOTT!...i thought he was a student, but come to know, hes actually a teacher lol!
some students think college is a elementary school now listen if you are lazy or don't like studying and just want to get a good grade with listening to IPOD you are wrong. Andy is very literate about math, so don't talk ... about him . Some people just like complaining about anything no matter what
This professor is rude, explains couple of lessons a day, doesn't care about the students, says u got any questions math lab is available. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS.
He is the best teacher I've ever had, he a such a excelent teacher.
He's a good professor. His extra credit homework assignments can really make a difference. Does examples on the board so you'll get a better understanding of the subject.
This lecturer goes through all homework problems that were difficult. He works really hard during lectures to explain. He does work quickly and does not make things too easy or too hard. He wants to make sure you are well equipped for the class you want to take after this. My only recommendation would be to ease up on the amount of homework :) A+
ANDY DOES NOT HAVE GOOD COMMUNICATION SKILLS. hE ASKES IF YOU HAVE QUEST'S AND THEN DOESNT ANSWER THEM.HE KNOWS ALL THE ANSWERS 2 MATH, AND MAKES STUDENTS FEEL BAD FOR WHAT THEY DONT KNOW.AND LOOKS WISE...? NO COMMENT!!
If you are planning to take the short session with this guy, my advice: Please Don't Take Him! The only Proffesor on the planet that has no conscience to give you an F, after all the hardwork and effort...
THE BEST TEACHER AT VALLEY COLLEGE. HONESTLY, I HAVE HAD HIS CLASS AND I HAVE TO SAY THAT HE IS VERY CARING, PATIENT, AND ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT EACH STUDENT. HE IS VERY FUNNY AND HAS THE NICEST GREEN EYES! YOU HAVE TO TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT A TEACHER THAT CARES ABOUT EVERY STUDENT.
he is a really wonderful teacher. Homework is just extra credit and he really goes out for the kids. Explains things during a test, and just a niceee person. Really take him!
I dontknow what people are saying but this teacher is the best one so far at valley his class is simple and he is very helpful toward his students if you do well on the quizes and do your hw you could pass the class with an C at least!! He knows what to teach and he is good at it.
Worst teacher I have ever had!!!! He does not explain anything clearly, he only comes to class to solve problems on the board and leave. Also he goes through like three chapters a class and he does not give time for the students to let the info sink in... if u want to pass math don't take him1
Bad math teacher! he is nice to drop the lowest quizzes out of 8 but he only comes to class to solve problems on the board and then leaves when class is over. doesn't stay to help out students and he is so boring!!! his voice makes me want to fall asleep. he is a hard grader and if u want to learn pre-cal don't take him!!
BORING and HARD CLASS! he expects you to learn the material by yourself and then ask him questions! don't take him if you want to learn math!
Great Prof. Explains really good. Tests are not hard. You need to do homework to understand the course. He also gives extra credit for tests. The best Prof. ever.
He doesn't give you enough time during exams INSANE, I got an A in trig 245, however, I found my self struggling for a B, ended up C. why? he doesn't give you enough time to think during exams. You will find yourself skipping problems. I worked hard and understood the material very well (my mates also). Hard grader, hard tests, hard everything.
The most wonderful professor ever!!!! Great person, knows how to teach and make u understand, always available to help, no stress at all, u start loving the subject thanks to him!!!! Take him you won't regret !!!!!!
Take him, the best !!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for everything professor !!!!!! He is one of the best!!!!!!!!!!!!
the good:crickets sound effect. the bad: Mr.textbook, literally its like hes reading it for us & copying what it says on to the board. I can do that myself thanks/ covers 2 sections per class/ have a question, dont worry "math lab available"/ checks the whole classes hw in 2min while you take your test so really its pointless.
Out of all the Math Professors I've taken, he's been the best. Mr. Pogosyan is the business! Show up to class, take notes, do the H.W. and learn the subject you'll do fine. I recommend him.
ABSOULUTALEY BEST TEACHER GOOD JOB, THANK YOU TAKE THIS TEACHER BEST TEACHER EVER... MERSI
the best teacher ever for math 120 he's super eazy only need to know wats going on in class n u'll pass it... n also hw matters aloot for passing n his tests are based on hw only figures are changed :)
I've taken this teacher before n loved him and decided to take him again. If you follow along and do your homework you will pass, but if you skip one class you will be left behind especially if you don't go over it yourself. Reads the book as a lesson plan and gives homework everyday. Exams and quizzes are similar to the hw questions and examples.
This is nothing but a job for him. Nice guy but unreasonable. He doesn't give you enough time during exams. Chooses the hardest problems and expects that you be able to answer them in a 1-2 minutes. Went from being an A/B student to getting a D. Highly recommend to avoid him. This is whats wrong with the education system and lack of progression.
Overall, it's a fairly easy class. Must do the homework, if you don't have prior Intermediate Algebra Knowledge. He speaks in a very low voice, so listen up. Tests are literally problems from the hws, changed wording of course. But, take him if you're serious about school. Overall he offers a great class.
Good guy but not as good as a teacher, Doesn't explain very well, just comes to class, writes down problems and leaves.
Here's the thing. If you know the material already, you don't need to go to class. Attendance was only taken the first week. I received a 100% in his class only going to a few lectures to find out the quiz days. If you don't know the material, he teaches, but very fast. A lot of self learning. A packet of HW due every test. Very nice guy.
He does take roll every class. Gives a packet of homework due every exam so you have about 2-3 weeks to complete it. Quizzes and exams are easy and the material are exactly the same so if you do your homework it will be simple. He always asks the class if anyone has any questions to make sure everyone understand. Great teacher!!
About 17 pb per exam from assigned hw or notes. Hands out lecture notes. Cares for students. The class not easy put in as much effort to pass. Take 3 or 4 class and not focus on this course you will not pass. No notes allowed for exam, incognito trig fct derivatives. Be prepared to study a lot! Credits hw in exam, returns after exam. 8 week course
This Teacher is a Great Guy, but expect to have a lot of old Armenian People in his classes. He doesn't explain things clearly at all, he just writes them up on the board Be prepared to teach yourself. What he puts on the quizzes is rarely on the test. He drops 3 quizzes and 1 test, but don't let that be an incentive to take this class.
I took this professor over the winter session. He offers extra credit group assignments to those who stay til the end which is extremly helpful for the final. He's very chill and laid back. If you have a question he's willing to explain things again.
You'll spend most of your time looking for tutoring due to the lack of understanding. Everything he says is on the book, and it's very unclear. If you happen to take his class, make sure to have some helpers or friends to make the work a lot more easier, or better yet, find a better class.
Guys if you are reading this comment pls don't take his class. Lectures do not teach you anything. Grades tests difficultly.
Very difficult fast teacher and doesn't explain well
Lectures directly from the book. Does not explain things in easier terms. Very sarcastic and not helpful. Wont take him again
I took Math 125 with this teacher. He is good teacher and clearly explains everything. If you study and do the homework, you will get an A. The end of the semester he gives extra credit assignment. I get an A and for me it was a very easy level. I like this instructor and going to take math 238 with him too. Highly recommended teacher.
He is a good professor who explain clearly. Only he should speak loudly .
good prof that cares deeply about his students. class is very HW heavy but HW helps you learn. gives practice exams identical to exam & reviews w/you the day before. very lenient, esp when it comes to grading exam. will answer all your questions & often gives examples to help you. very kind & understanding. you will have to work for your grade tho
i took math 259 with him. he is a good professor but you must put effort into the class. the exams are pretty harsh so you have to study and pay attention to the lectures. i cant say he is a bad professor but he is not THE BEST. if you are good at math then i wouldn't worry. out of the 5 exams he drops the lowest and he gives a practice tests.
Very good professor who cares about his students, gives handouts and explains as good as possible, answers even very dummy questions. Take his class, if youre worrying about your gpa.
Prof Pogosyan makes Calc1 reasonably understandable. He gives packets based off of the textbook and a great test review that is very similar to exams. Pay attention when you go over a challenging problem in class because he mentions that it will appear on tests. 5 tests, 1 chp each, drops lowest. Cumulative final. No cheat sheets to any exams.
Took class during summer. He gave us 3 cheet sheets. He also gave practice problems for final(some which were on the final)& adds 10% to final exam if practice problems are correct. Replaces lowest test w/ final exam(which he added 10% to). He gives an E.C problem on each exam. I feel that he really wants his students to pass considering all this.
I took his course as an Honors class. He projects notes on the board, then has in class problems which he reviews afterwards. He lets students come to the board to solve problems (rarely). He gives & reviews practice exams, & the actual exams 7 drops the lowest score. He gives the choice of doing online or textbook HW. Online HW, he adds %15.
The class is made up of 5 Exams and a Final. The Final is Cumulative. I can't stress this enough, DON'T take this class if you have no experience in math. He is a professor that projects problems on the board and solves them with rarely stopping and truly getting a sense for where everyone is in the class. He gives 10% extra on exams if you review!
I took this class coming straight out of AP Calculus in highschool, and let me tell you, if you aren't somewhat experienced in calc, you will struggle to pass. He teaches straight from the book, and moves at a very fast pace. Tests are 60%, hw is 10% and the final is 30%. He offers a miniscule 10% extra credit on tests and drops your lowest grade.
Not an easy class but he's definitely a great professor. Took him for 259 AND 261. He's very thorough with notes and answers any questions. Always gives a study guide that is similar to exams and reviews everything the day before. Lets you redo test problems for a better score. Homework is available online so you don't need to spend $300 on a book
He is very kind and generous person. I took Calc. 1 this winter and it is not easy for short season, but he gave us very good explanation which helped me to pass the class. If I am gonna need any other Math class I will take him again for 100%
Calc 1 can be a hefty load, but he takes his time on explaining the sections, he gives notes which help a lot. He can get very fast paced, but if you review your material and do your homework regularly you will pass this class. Five exams, he gives practices tests, he gives lots of extra credit.
This drained the life out of me. He's great as a person&teacher, but he just doesn't explain as well as most professors. Assumes we know how to do things from previous math classes (we just need a little reminder at least) Lots of hw but it is do-able and you have weeks to get it done. Tests were very difficult bc i didn't like his teaching style
This guy has a baritone voice and a thick Russian accent. His lack of audibility and monotonous lectures leave you scratching your head as to why he even lectures. He solves examples and that's it. You really won't learn from him. YouTube is by far a better source of education as oppose to this professor. They explain concepts.
been a straight A student my whole life in every subject, even math. Not anymore bc of this class. I took precal in HS and got an A with no trouble, but this teacher makes everything so much more difficult. Tests and final go in grade. We do a million hw problems and it barely even counts in your grade. He doesn't explain bc he thinks we just know.
Been a straight A student my whole life and he was the first to even give me a fail!
Asked him a. question once and he didn't answer and was being rude instead. How am I supposed to pass a class when the professor doesn't answer my questions. He just does examples on the board all day and sends you home.
Excellent professor! Explains everything well you just have to put in the work and do the homework. He assigns enough homework so that youre very prepared for the tests. Its very important to do the homework because you will be completely lost without it. Show up to every lecture and ask a lot of questions. Hes a great prof would def recommend
He was nice and well-intentioned. He is clear on his grading. However, he rushed through this course to try to fit everything and if you are sick and miss a day, you miss a hell of a lot and fall quickly behind. He does seem caring, but I don't think he was student-centered enough. His lectures went too fast and his voice didn't carry loud or clear
This is a nice professor if you already know most of the basics when it comes to Calculus I. He is not very detail-oriented in his notes and is not able to break down examples and explain "WHY" he is doing what he is doing. He kind of just says, "well this is how you do it." Just make sure you're prepared to re-learn the material yourself.
Professor Pogosyan is pretty good but it was a lot. Available at office hours, answers questions, but math 259 for 4 months was a lot. Don't take very hard classes with this class. You have to have a decent amount for studying but it is still possible to have a great grade.
He is a fine professor. He goes pretty fast in his lectures and assumes that you know the basics of math from previous classes. His lectures will give you a basic understanding, but the homework will go in depth so that you know how to solve each problem. The study guides are so helpful and reflect the exam. Put the effort and you will pass.
He lectures the whole time and goes quick, don't expect to copy words, and does example problems so you kind of have to teach yourself. He will elaborate on anything you ask. Homework with every section online due by the next exam but he extends a lot of deadlines. Exams are very similar to practice exams and can be taken directly from the hw.
This was the second time I took calculus in college and the first time I actually knew what I was doing. Dr. P really helped me learn the subject. Although he goes a little fast in his lectures, he's patient and will absolutely help you if you have any questions. He also offers extra credit which really helps. I would definitely recommend him!
Professor Pogosyan is the best Professor I have ever had!! Clear grader and he offers an extra credit question at the end of every exam. Drops the lowest test as well!! Ask questions because he moves fast but is always willing to answer them! Be on time because he begins right away. Don't miss class either or you will fall behind!
Professor Pogosyan is amazing! Five exams total + one cumulative final exam; provides study guides for each. He also offers extra credit at the end of every exam. He is a very fast teacher and will move on if no one asks questions, so be prepared to ask and take notes! Stay after class to ask questions. Overall amazing, very straightforward class.
He could use the open-source book, instead of an online access code and online book. Most of the grade is the tests, and I feel like he is teaching for the tests, and there are no make-up tests, he should do more extra credits, allow make-up tests, and weigh homework more than tests; tests are most of the grades.
Amazing class! Took this over summer, and though the class went by fast (as it should for a summer course), I felt like I retained a lot of information even after having left the class.
Professor Pogosyan made Calculus 2 a great class! Even though it was a fast-paced course and I took it over summer for 5 weeks, his lectures made the class notes easy to understand and most of the homeworks helped prepare for the tests. Do not hesistate to take this class with Professor Pogosyan, truly a great professor! He also gives extra credit!
Took him over the summer, and his teaching style helped me a lot. He has a practical approach to teaching that gives the opportunity for the students to do the problems themselves. He also gives extra credit and generous grades. He is approachable, and you can ask him questions in-person -- not very active online though.
I've never in my 23 years seen a professor sitdown before exam day and let the student who don't know the material themselves answer the questions. To me it screams Laziess, and uncaring and that is the vibe you will get from andy all semester. Andy dones't really care about answering your questions he wants you to know already.
His lectures were lacking, he has a thick accent and not very good at explaining concepts. The class has a lot of HW and seemed a bit overkill at times. He does let you have formula sheets for the test which helped but just dont think his lectures/hw reflected the test. He is lenient with grading which he should be as his communication is not great
Prof Pogosyan is a nice person. The class is tough and requires a lot of time to complete homework and do the practice exams. Watching videos on YouTube was very helpful to me. It is possible to get an A but be prepared to work hard. His explanations were slightly lacking but the way he solves problems is great. Prof drops one of the five exams.
The class is mandatory to attend otherwise you will not understand how to do the work. Only grades on tests which can make it hard to get a good grade if you suck at test taking. If you miss a day of class you will have to ask classmates for notes to catch up on what you missed.
Professor Pogosyan is a really good instructor. Very rare to see him read off of anything, he knows what he is teaching. Calculus is an extremely difficult course by design, so keep up and practice what he gives. He is also a very merciful professor unlike many others. Got an A in Calc 2 and 3, couldn't be more grateful.
Exams based on lecture notes & practice exams, study them well and go to class. Grade is essentially based on exam grades but you can get grade bumped up if you do HW/participate when going through practice exams. Slight accent but good straight forward lessons. He's a bit silly billy sometimes! Make sure you have a good foundation in algebra/trig.
His tests aren't hard and he drops the lowest test score.
UNBELIEVABLE amount of HW that was only 10% of your grade. Only grade that matters were the tests, that were so beyond difficult, most class score 40% or less. Lecture all over the place. No proper deadlines or structure at all. If you ever wanted to be miserable, this is the class for you.
(actually taking 263) Straight A student here. He has no lesson plan. Does not teach nor lecture. Reads theorems and formulas straight from the book and speedruns through examples that he also copies from the book. He barely takes questions, and when he does, his explanations lack. Tests are HARD. He's very lazy, you are basically on your own.
Worst my experience with math prof! He doesn't know and want to teach,if you ask a question he answers like you supposed to know it already!Giving hard questions on the test, doesn't care about scratch paper(red flag for me).NOT easy to pass,a lot of self-study...don't recommend him at all! Dropped the class...never have problems with math before.
Grade is based solely on exams and practice exams (+10% for HW), but he drops your lowest exam score! Gives a ton of partial credit on every exam and includes extra credit and gives so much extra time for exams. Lectures focus on practice problems, but exams are a bit difficult so make sure to practice. Covers material rapidly, so attend lectures!
I personally really liked this professor he taught very well and answered any question you had pendant or prior to the assignments, you were unsure of. I would definitely take him again.
