Average teacher, he made certain aspects of the class entertaining. The project sucked but that was because my group sucked. tests are easy. always got out of class early and covered everything. He never canceled classes which was nice. overall decent teacher I will take him again.
Professor Green teaches this class with a lean towards security which is why I recommend him for any ISA majors who are taking this class as an elective. He does take an interest in reinforcing real world business skills(business writing and speaking)and does not tolerate 1/2 assed work. His lectures were engaging and interesting.
Mr. Green knows his stuff and doesn't mess around. Come prepared for class and don't even think about being late with assignments! He has practical experience in web development and was able to help me understand the business concepts I need to think about when I design websites. I'd take him again for any class.
This guy was a great instructor! He's been in the industry for years, and talked frequently about his experiences with clients. This helped me tie together the theory with the reality. Green was available during his office hours, answered emails promptly, and gave me straight answers. One word of warning - have your act together and get your
People on this site continue to insist upon rating the professor's personality. I'll be the first to admit, it's a difficult one. But that's not what we're here to do. As a teacher he is knowledgeable with industry relevant experience. He might be an acquired taste, but as far as competency and ability goes, he is perfectly able.
I took him for two classes this semester. Both classes he did the exact same crap. I could go to one class and skip the other for that week. He read his lectures word for word from powerpoints, at times he didn't seem to know anything about the material, and sometimes he did. If you do the assignments & study a bit, you'll get through fine.
Professor green is a really good person and most of the time is easy to talk to. He does seem sarcastic and intimidating if you don't know much about it, BUT if you talk to him, he'll give you advice on how to gain an edge. He did randomly give us pop quizzes though; not in the syllabus and our final was 61 questions, nonmulti choice & only 40 mins
Green is a good professor with real world experience. He is strict and does not review for his midterm and final but this will make you a better student. He is not the easiest professor but he is funny and makes his class enjoyable. He grades things quickly(I knew my final grade the next day after my final) and he emails quickly as well.
Green is a fabulous professor he should probably let his class go home early tonight
I would agree with the others that Andy does tend to be a little arrogant and cocky at times, but at the same time, he's extremely knowledgeable about information security. You will learn a lot from this guy (over 12 years in the field). His test are not easy. Do the work and pay attention to him in class. If he talks about it, it's on the exam!
Not sure why Andy Green has so many bad reviews. I think it is because you either love this guy or you hate this guy. I personally enjoyed Andy Green and his awful sense of humor (sorry Andy) and loved his style of teaching. He is blunt and strait forward. HW is very easy as well as weekly quizzes. He is an Alabama fan so that does explain a lot.
He's making us build servers from scratch, write reports and talk about it in from of the class. If you want to learn how to protect servers, this is definitely the class to take! Green knows his stuff, doesn't hesitate to question us in front of everybody to be sure we know what we're doing. Great, but scary class!
To be honest I am not sure why Green has so many bad reviews? Straight forward to the point, do the work and you'll do fine. Welcome to College. I guess I am one of the few who thinks his sense of humor is actually pretty damn good. Don't let the other reviews scare you away.
Green is honestly a great instructor. Very clear cut and straightforward class. Interesting material. He just has an abrasive sense of humor, which I find funny, but I can see where some people would get offended.
I had him for two classes this semester. Before even meeting him I had heard a lot about how terrible he was, personally I do not agree. Yes, he is cocky and refuses to be wrong. However, he will do whatever he can to help you understand the material if you come to him about it. Show up to class, participate, do the HW, study for the tests, simple
Took him this summer. Yes, he is sarcastic, but you will have a boss like this eventually, I promise. I took great notes, turned in my assignments on time and with thought and got an A. Do your stuff and the grade will follow.
This is a tough, but good class. If you apply yourself and do what Green asks you to do, you will do well in the course.
Professor Green taught this class in his usual no-noncence way. Lots of good, real-world discussions in class, which he encouraged a lot. Get your firewall rules right, as he doesn't mess around at all on grading those things! He's gruff but everybody knows he wants us all to do well!
I don't understand why people are complaining about Professor Green. You come to class, do the work, show you care about the material, you'll do well. Don't expect him to spoon-feed you, because it's not gonna happen. As he says, "welcome to college"
Truth is this: Green is hardcore. His approach is old-school. He is the gatekeeper. The bottom line is that he only cares about the final result. Everything else is of no interest. Conform, and embrace his expectations. Check your ego at the door, put in maximum effort, and demonstrate you're not just trying to "get a degree", he will reward you.
Don't plagiarize you will get caught, don't change his templates and show up to class to learn. Best class for preparation for real world and getting ready for technical job interviews after graduating. Everything he teaches there is a reason for it even though you might not realize it until you are sitting in front of a potential employer.
I graduated almost 2 years ago. I didn't realize how valuable this course was until I got out in the work force. I complained at the time, but I'm glad now that Green teaches it exactly the way he does. No other course like it in the program!
Straight forward and fair professor. Encourages students to resolve technical issues similar to how they should deal with them in the workforce. Most of the students taking this class will probably work in IT and should expect a similar no nonsense attitude at times from the clients they will service.
Best class in the ISA program, with Mattord's 4810 class a close second.
This was the toughest class I've taken at KSU. Green doesn't mess around, and is very honest with his feedback. He's direct, and that bothers some people. However, if you're going to work in infosec you'd better get used to it.
Green did a good job with the pen testing course. He focused on testing methodology at first, which was kinda slow and boring, but important. He also walked us through how to compromise boxes in different ways. Good intro course into pen testing, it did what I expected and Green definitely knows his stuff.
Professor Green does a good job of teaching this hands-on course. We focused a lot on building up a software firewall, and he talked a lot about the practical realities of over-reliance on firewalls in general. Great course, great teacher!
Professor Green treats this class as a research-focused, "show me what you know" type of thing. This class was tough, a lot of work, but I learned more about how to do research in this class, than I have in any other. It's very tough, but worth it!
Green knows firewalls, and does a great job of talking about the business-related aspects that are important for future security professionals to consider. I love his classes, but he doesn't mess around. Come prepared to talk and learn, not just sit there. You show an interest, he'll do everything he can to help you succeed!
ISA 4220 was the hardest class I've taken in the ISA degree, but it was worth it. Being forced to do research and presentations really helped me with my internship interview and ultimately getting the position. Green's a hard case, but he's fair, consistent, and treats us like we're employees, which I think will really help us after graduation.
Professor Green is one of my favorite professors at KSU. He is a truly outstanding professor, and I appreciate his insight and acute knowledge regarding the field of Information Security and Assurance. He treats his students as respectable adults with the capability of finding the answer to their questions. Work hard, and you will do well.
Green's ISA 4220 class is the toughest class I've taken at KSU, but also the most rewarding.
ISA4220 is one of the more difficult classes that I have taken in my college experience. Be prepared for a demanding weekly workload. This class will prepare you for job interviews and give you the experience needed to effectively work in groups and with topics that you don't yet understand. Improved my research abilities; take iniative.
You learn a lot in this class with the amount of research required, and it's very useful. The problem is the huge workload. This class requires large amounts of writing on technical details and leaves little to no free time in your life, especially if you have other classes or a job, at least for the first few weeks of class.
5 pass/fail HW assignments. Not hard but if you mess up 1 character it's a fail. He's of no help. Better hope your classmates can help you out if you struggle with the HW. People who asked him for help were told they "lack critical thought" (direct quote). Still, pretty easy tests. Guy is a joke but class was easy. Epitome of budget hire.
I don't get people who complain about Green. We're in a tough major, with demanding professors. Green sets a standard, is clear about his expectations, and helps us meet it. He doesn't hold our hands, and he shouldn't have to.
You can always tell when the semester ends, because bitter students "take their revenge" here. I earned my grade in Green's class, and I'm proud of it. He knows what he's talking about, regardless of what others write to the contrary. Tough class, but you will learn, which I thought was the entire point?
I got my first exposure to Linux systems in this class. Green was prompt with grades, and was always available on discussion boards and email. This was an online course, btw.
Green teaches 3210, 4200 and 4220. He does not cut corners and does not take late work. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. Do your assignments well before the due date. Name your file correctly. The work is hands-on, technical work but also very rewarding and after the semester you can say you actually learned something which translates to skills on a resume.
You will be pushed beyond what you thought your limits were. You will experience mental stress and fatigue like you never have before. You will laugh at what you once considered difficult. And you will come out the other side a more intelligent, humble, and patient person than you once were. Every second is torture. You will not regret it.
Typical KSU prof. Agree with him and youll pass. Disagree then hell simply be condescending. Security program has too many of these guys. I dont mind the work. But the attitude is unbearable.
Professor Green does a great job with this course. I don't understand why some people want to complain about him. He wants us to be ready for the workplace, and treats us like adults by setting expectations for us to meet. The ISA degree program is much better because of what he does, and how he does it.
I've taken professor Green for ISA4220 and ISA4200. I've got to admit, this was far the hardest classes I've taken. For System Sec II ,it's like a masters level teaching style. You have to build Linux/Windows servers and test its vulnerability. You have to write reports and also present on YouTube. Ask questions. don't wait till last min. ma
Start early. Ask questions. Take part in the weekly qa sessions. Do the work. DO NOT WAIT TILL LAST MINUTE. Work is manageable, as long as you put time into it. He cares about the effort you put in. He IS a SME in cybersecurity. Take him, you will learn a lot. May hate yourself at the moment, but will come out a lot smarter in the field.
FYI I'm in the Online class. While he is certainly well versed on what he teaches, he shows almost no direction when it comes to assignments. While it is not the most difficult, he will dock your grade heavily for minute mistakes. Have fun if you work and are also a full time student, because his attitude is that he simply does not care.
I am currently taking ISA 4200 and have nothing but good things to say about this course. I'm both working and in school full-time, and Green I've got no complaints about how Green teaches. I ask questions, he responds in a way that guides me to the answer so that I learn something. What more could you ask for?
If you can avoid this professor, do so. Otherwise, be prepared for a professor who gets annoyed by students asking questions or making mistakes. He will make you feel stupid for not knowing what is going on. He knows what he's talking about and can teach it, but not in a way that makes you want to learn it.
Green is the best professor the ISA program has. This class has been tough, but I learned more from this one course than any other course and professor in the ISA department. Those of you who complain about him simply don't like being treated like professional adults. He doesn't hold our hands, just like the workplace will treat us.
I took 3 classes with Prof. Green. He expects a lot from his students. They werent easy. He encourages students to learn on their own and provides solid guidance on doing so. He prepares you for positions in the real world. Listen to his advice. Ask him questions directly. Dont make assumptions. Dont be afraid.
The good reviews may be true for his other classes, however, he provides little direction. The assignments you do don't match the follow up quiz & when you are stuck on a problem, he doesnt respond back until the assignment is due. You are expected to figure out how to navigate the program yourself. My whole class agrees we would not take him again
I don't understand some folks who post lies here. Green is available via email, discussion boards, has weekly online Q&A sessions, and even on Microsoft Teams. He also posts weekly comments with feedback on homework assignments. I'd gladly take Green again, for any course in the degree program.
Professor Green did a good job with this course. He answered my emails, graded everything quickly, and made the course easy to follow. I'm looking forward to taking classes with him in the future.
Green knows his stuff, and wants us to be ready when we graduate. Some of my fellow students complain, but he's not here to baby us or cater to us. He's here to teach, and we're here to learn. If you didn't do well in this class, it's because you want it all just handed to you without doing the work.
Green is certainly one of the tougher professors youll take at KSU but he definitely knows how to teach InfoSec in unorthodox ways. His classes, although challenging, will ensure you understand the curriculum well and not just enough to get a degree. Take him and your future infosec internship and job interviews/work will be MUCH less daunting
Definitely one of the most important classes of our major. Extremely hard class but too late to change my major lol. Also he is quite sarcastic so if you are already good at security its not so bad but if you have no idea whats going on, may want to rethink your major because he will be there everyday until you graduate
If I hadnt made the C I probably would have Changed my major. Definitely works to prepare you but not worth the time spent. If you love security I recommend you stick it out and get this degree. Otherwise just change while you can
I can understand that he wants students to do well in the real world. My major problem with this professor is when you ask a question or raise a concern about homework (strict grader), he will make you feel stupid and is extremely rude, no matter how nice you are. You may learn well in this class, but know that the professor is very arrogant.
Txtbook written in 2007. Patently false answers for quizzes. Does the minimalist amount of work. Will fail you over the slightest inconsistency while not holding himself to the same standard i.e no grammarly flags while still using a decades old test document with over 20 flags. Only in it for job security. The major underprepares for real world
He might be smart idk, didn't really talk to him the whole semester. The course is easy but he is an arrogant man with a superiority complex who teaches students just to feel smarter than other people
He's arrogant and belittles you if you ask questions. He takes 30 percent off of the biggest assignments for not submitting a Grammarly report with them, stating that requirement once in the syllabus and not at all in the assignment detail where it would actually be useful. Difficult and unreasonable grader!
I would recommend you NOT take any courses from this professor. Unclear instructions and unfair grading criteria. If the majority of a class fails, that means the professor has failed at his job.
Any time I personally have tried to communicate with this professor he has always come across as having a superior complex and belittles students in the class for asking questions because he is extremely wordy and sarcastic. I have avoided speaking to him the entire semester because it's honestly tiring to get gas-lit and my questions unanswered.
Comes off as the most pompous, arrogant man. Unhelpful, rude, and very sarcastic. Don't bother asking him any questions because you'll just be made a fool even if it's a genuine question. Makes you join a discord server to ask questions and interact with peers, but really it's just him being extremely rude to anyone with valid questions.
AVOID!! The man is extremely belittling, arrogant, unhelpful. Cannot ask any questions without him making you feel like an idiot. Lectures are all from over seven years ago and the text is even older than that. Requires you to join an extremely cringe discord server where he has rather strange chats with students. Worst CYBR professor at KSU by far
Honestly the most unprofessional professor i have ever seen. In his cringy discord, he makes jokes just such as "I am looking forward to hearing complaints from the kids in 4220
He will gaslight you for asking simple questions and proceeds to talk down upon you. Last time I checked you as a professor should help guide students on their journey of life but why is Mr. Andy think he is jesus christ reincarnated as a KSU professor thinking he's too good to answer students. 0/10 would not recommend
You get out what you put in. At this point in the degree you need to be prepared for the professor to tell you you're wrong and it's up to you to take it on the chin and fix it. Read the instructions 3 times and communicate with your team. He can smell fear, so make eye contact and answer questions. Know the material and you'll be fine.
I don't understand the bad reviews. The class had a lot of work during the summer, but I worked full-time while taking this class and faced no issues. If you don't get ahead in the first week, you're definitely going to stress yourself out. Four or five time-consuming assignments are due every week. No webcam or lockdown for his quizzes and exams.
I do not know why he has a low rating. I guess they want to get treated as junior high school students. If you really want to learn about Information Security take him. He can be a good resource for you even after you finish your class.
To contact him, we have to use a Discord channel. He barely teaches and condescends students heavily after getting asked a simple question. He has the knowledge to teach but uses some superiority complex before "guiding" you to the answer. Looking at his website and LinkedIn, Green barely has experience in the tech field and bases things on opinion
This Andy guy is extremely arrogant. Don't try to ask him questions, he's not interested in helping students. He's obviously an instructor to exert power over students. Andy's arrogance is unfounded because he doesn't have any industry experience. I guess if you can't get a job anywhere else, you teach. Avoid Andy whenever possible.
I would avoid and recommend every student to avoid this professor. He doesn't teach regarding the course. Vague instructions regarding assignments and does not even follow his directions mentioned in syllabus. He would make fun of students asking questions and expects them to know everything. Tbh he should not be a professor for this course/major.
He doesn't necessarily give difficult work, but class is very complex in terms of resources. He will require that all information and questions asked be through his own discord that has every student from his past classes. He is incredibly strict on deadlines, and if you ask he will make fun of you, and tell you that it should be a lesson learned.
Don't bother asking questions. He'll use every opportunity to make an example out of you even when just asking for clarification. No grace or respect. Such a shame for a professor whose material is good.
easy material, however, do not ask questions or reach out or you will be met with a condescending or smart response. He will make fun of you and make you feel dumb. Not sure if he has a superiority complex. Very unprofessional. Everything is through textbooks, he does not teach. If you already have low self esteem, do not take this professor.

Andy Green is a terrible professor. He replys student questions with a condescending tone and seems more interested in hearing himself talk than actually helping students understand the material. He is very arrogant and a prideful person. I'd say you should take this class with someone else. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR UNLESS HE IS THE ONLY OPTION.
Andy Green is one of the most low IQ professors at KSU. Don't take him for any class even if it means your graduation is delayed. He takes years to respond to emails and he always replies with a smart remark instead of good feedback. He is very full of himself even though he has no actual IT experience. Go on his LinkedIn and see for yourself.
PLEASE READ THIS: I ignored the reviews on here when I took Dr. Green's course, which I was foolish to do. He is the most inconsiderate professor I have taken in 4 years between 2 different universities. In the case of CYBR 3200, other professors teach it. Don't make the same mistake I did. Read the other reviews if you want to know why. Please
If you want a professor who works with you and is understanding, DO NOT TAKE, he will not respond to any issue you may have. He will find a way
Please do not take, any other professor is better. Andy Green is the most inconsiderate and cold hearted professor I've had in 4 years. He will have 0 understanding and will not reply to emails. If you are about to graduate AVOID. He will extend your graduation just for a small power trip. He may be the lowest IQ PhD I've had to interact with.
this guy is a complete tool. He has no real IT/cybersecurity experience and takes it out on his students. Doesn't know how to properly configure his systems and blames it on his students. Threatened me after ghosting me for a month abt missing grades, then tried to blame it on me when it was his fault. Do not use this prof
Worst professor I've ever had. When I asked for clarification or help, the responses were super dismissive, and sometimes condescending. There's little effort to actually teach—most of the learning is left up to you. If you want a professor who communicates clearly and treats students with respect, I would not recommend taking this class.
