Has a genuine passion for what he does! Often, he has a controversial personality, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Enjoyed his class.

I just took his Writing 123 class and learned quite a lot from him. He leans a little too left, but he is also is very funny, very intelligent and very helpful. He is fair minded and a fair grader. I look forward to taking his World Religion class. This professor gets an A from me.

By the time you are in a college level writing class, you should need little help writing. Andy will teach you to think on your own. He will challenge you to defend your thoughts and opinions but won't let them affect your grade. Discussions often get off track, but make for great learning opportunities. Great class with a unique approach.

Andy was a great teacher. Lectures often landed off topic, but it gave the whole class a change to question their own values and beliefs. Unsurpassed level of knowledge in the field of religion and literature. He is also super cute!

I think Andy is a great teacher! He is very unique and makes you think outside the box when it comes to politics and religion topics. He grades based on your individual improvements and will work with you.

One thing you need for a world religion class with Andy-an OPEN MIND!!! I feel bad for him having to try to teach close minded children who are so set in their own worlds that they refuse to try to learn about anyone else. Why would you take this class if any discussion about your own religion offends you?!? He simply tells it like it is.

Prior to the class I really had no interest in it. I had to miss a class and hated not knowing what was discussed while I was gone! He was helpful when need be, and was great at getting people involved in the class discussions. Whether or not you agreed with him was immaterial to your grade. Do the work, get the grade. Great send of humor too!

Sincere, conscientious, and very interested in your learning. He takes the time to explain the concepts at a pace that's appropriate for the class. He wants you to understand religions that you may not necessarily agree with. He is self-deprecating in a humorous way, and if he's sarcastic he doesn't mean to offend anyone. Go with an open mind.

Good teacher, a little disorganized, but very smart, very genuine. You'll probably wonder if his brain ever shuts off! Always thinking, always questioning, never seems to just take anything at face value. Gets his students mixed up frequently tho, so if you are sensitive to that, you may consider wearing a nametag =)

Listen folks..... Yes, Andy can be very opinionated and even a little over-the-top sometimes, but in all honesty, who wouldn't want that in a professor. This man is completely motivating, inspiring, intellectual, and he speaks in a way that will really make you think differently and open your eyes to the world. TAKE HIM!

When I started this class I thought he was a complete weirdo! Some of the things he says are offensive and I didn't like class. During the term, his class was the only class, out of 5 other classes that I really though about. He is very open minded and I learned a lot from him! He grades very easy and gets u out of a closed mind. Awesome!

He is an awesome teacher. He knows people have lives outside of and he will work with you after class if you need help. He responds to emails so fast and digs into the material

Guirevich really related the texts to modern events and helped to explain the symbolism between the lines.

Andy is an awesome teacher! The class was interesting. Not all of the material was directly put out there, meaning you should expect to read the textbook, come to class and participate in discussions, and write your journals weekly. I feel Andy's humor and opinions are misunderstood; come with an open mind and you will surely enjoy this class.

Controversial, eccentric, and ugly in a very cute way. If you have an open mind, he will make you think about a lot of things, even if you disagree with all his opinions. If you have a closed mind, you'll hate him. You'll learn to actually think about why you write. Or you'll think he's the worst rambler ever. He taught me to write from my heart.

Gurevitch is a talker, but 1) he wants people to understand the text through the world around them 2) he wants people to talk back to him, and 3)the man loves talking. He points out contradiction in religion, not generates them. If you're offended, take a closer look at your own religion. He knows what he's talking about, even if it offends people.

I loved this class he did an amazing job keeping the class interesting and i actually enjoyed doing the homework. As long as you work hard you will get a good grade

Andy is the single most interesting literature professor I've ever had. He has helped me to understand the stories we read with amazing perspective. Take a class from him, you won't regret it, unless you're a super sensitive person.

Brilliant instructor who cares about getting the material across to you. Incredibly passionate and knowledgeable and able to put things in context. Extremely honest about the material and its relevance today, so if you are squeamish about hearing the truth behind the history of your religion maybe you should not take a class with Andy.

Overall, Andy is a pretty good teacher. I enjoyed taking Religions with him because I actually felt like he really knew what he was talking about. I went in to this class with no prior knowledge of any religion, and I feel like he did a good job at trying to be fair to all religions when teaching them. I would recommend.

He is a great teacher, who creates a fun and laid back classroom for learning. He knows how to set up backgrounds for his stories and knows how to give his students information on what he wants us to learn. The homework is interesting and really makes you think, and you will have a lot of fun in class. One of the best teachers I've had so far.

Andy is an amazing teacher - he actually cares whether the student understands the material. The stories were hard to understand, but Andy made everything clear with his big brain and deep comprehension of his topic, so no matter where you’re at, he can find you and help pull you out of the fog. Great humor, warmth, and welcoming demeanor.

LOVE Gurevich as a teacher. Makes class discussion fun. He has a lot of tough material to tackle in a short period of time, (in the class I took with him anyway) but he always compensated for that and was very accommodating as far as due dates and making tests easy. Besides being the coolest teacher on campus, he's also a great teacher. Take him!

This professor changed my life and the way I look at the world. Absolutely amazing professor and human being. I took 5 classes with him and have graduated and would happily pay out of pocket to learn more from this man. TAKE HIM FOR EVERY CLASS YOU POSSIBLY CAN, you will not regret it.

Andy is by far my most beloved teacher at MHCC. He is hilarious and class is never boring, and he is so passionate about what he teaches it makes you actually want to know more and understand on a deeper level what he is talking about. Definitely take a class of his if you can. Also, all the chili peppers for this guy.

Andy is hilarious. I didn't go to his class much, but I still got a decent grade, and he graded very fairly. I think I learned more about the prison system than writing, however. That said, I more or less skated by on my pre-existing writing abilities, which are not insignificant. Your mileage may vary.

Andy is THE BEST writing teacher I've ever had. Not only will you learn everything you need to know about writing, you will be challenged to think about it in a real world perspective focusing on prison and institutions. This class was so interesting I never wanted to miss a day! He's fun, funny, smart & crystal clear. Take him any chance you get!

Take any and every class you can with Andy! I've taken him for 2 terms and am looking at a third. Extremely helpful, extremely knowledgeable, very funny, will challenge your world view in a respectful way, always willing to help students, grades very fairly, lenient, sometimes does go down the rabbit hole but it'll be worth it.

Professor Gurevich is awesome. Was expecting a boring World Lit class but got a involved and interesting one instead. Taking the next class in the series because Gurevich is the instructor.

I really enjoyed going to his class! He is a very laid back guy and really cares about all of his students. Very lenient on grading, if you do not get the grade you wanted on a paper, he will give you feedback on how to make it better then you are able to revise it and turn it back in. Andy is very open minded and really makes you think!

Only been to his class for 3 weeks now, and I absolutely enjoy going to his class. Helps out a lot and tries to get all his students on the same page. Very laid back, funny, and okay class, not too hard, nor too easy but he helps with giving good feed backs after an essay. I hate writing, but first time I actually like going to writing class!

Newer though that writing class might be so easy and interesting. That was best evening class I've ever had!!!

Andy is a fantastic teacher and a genuinely bright person. I loved all the classes that I had with him and can't imagine where I would be right now if I hadn't taken his classes. I vehemently recommend him to all of my friends. He gives plenty of extra credit opportunities and works with students if they need it. He's also really understanding.

Andy is a funny guy. He's both entertaining and interesting to listen to. I love all the extra credit options he gives too. He is super willing to help, he says it multiple times in class, and he understands that we have lives outside WR121. He is also very smart. Like other people said, you will either love or hate him for it. I found it great!

Andy is an awesome lecturer and a great professor to have. Don't think that just because he's a lax person that the class is easy. The reading is bound to be intense and the writing sometimes exhausting, but I'd take this class just to listen to Andy mix philosophy, modern politics and issues and lit in the same breath.

This class is not super easy for lazy people, however, aside from the final paper if all papers are turned in on time you have the opportunity to correct them for a better grade, also he does have an extra credit assignment I would suggest every student doing. It's easy and he made it worth 2 grades on lowest paper grade (this may or may not change

Andy is an amazing teacher to have, he is very interesting and engages the students to think outside the box more. This class was very easy for someone who is good at writing papers already but he could help you if you are not and the homework was light.

I've taken Andy before for WR 121. For this being his first time teaching mythology, he did a phenomenal job. There were some technical issues that he fixed very quickly, and he would always respond to my messages. It's a fascinating class that I would suggest anyone take with him.

Gurevich is an awesome, laid-back guy. I took his ENG 107 and 108 classes and passed both. It's a lot of reading, but as long as you do the work you'll pass. And if you don't understand something, don't be afraid to ask him for help.

I took his WR 121 and 122 classes. Gurevich is an awesome, laid-back guy who'll help anyone who needs it. Having a textbook is required, but honestly, you could learn everything you need to know just by paying attention in class; the weekly handouts are (definitely!) required for participation points, though! Do the work: earn an A.

ENG250 - Into to Mythology. Best class I've ever taken. Really enjoyed these amazing stories! Short and sweet assignments. Barely felt like I was putting any effort in. Learned and grew from all the lessons. I love this guy! Super smart, super human.

Andy is one of the greatest professors at MHCC. He is funny, insightful, and cares a lot about each student's success. His classes do involve a lot of reading but he lets you resubmit work multiple times until you receive your desired grade and is easy to listen to in class. He responds to emails in a timely manner and is available after class.

Mr. Gurevich is a fantastic teacher! He knows his Mythology and really makes the learning experience so much fun. I cannot believe I am saying that I actually don't want this class to end. I learned so much and loved it!

For those of us not majoring in journalism or English, this is definitely the guy to take- so easy! The best writing teacher MHCC has to offer. Lectures are boring but come to class, write your essays (lets you rewrite them as much as you want), and you will get the A you need. Same for his WR121 class.

You can get a lot out of this class if you want to, but all I did in lectures was go on my phone or draw. During lectures he rambles a lot and we watch a fair amount of videos, so you don't need to pay attention, but if you do you can have great discussions. I never got the textbook, use the libraries or google PDFs of the books we have to read.

if you're gonna take a class taught by andy, prepare for lllooooooonnnnngggg lectures with no breaks. that's the only downside i can think of! he is funny and gives great feedback on papers and homework, theres also not many assignments in general. if you go to class and do the work, you will pass for sure. he is also available outside of class!

Honestly one of the best teachers Ive had. Andy genuine interest in the class not only keeps me engaged for the whole time but hes patient and understanding he allows me to ask questions, take risks, and make mistakes, unlike with some others teachers where they make you feel embarrassed for not understanding.

Andy was a really great teacher. Very easy to understand and clearly very educated. I learned a lot in one term. He really makes you think. Easy to contact, and always willing to help. Class isn't difficult as long as you don't skip all the time. Really great guy, and the feedback is solid. He really takes the time to help the students.

Andy helped me improve and refine my processing and writing skills drastically. He was a very effective professor and if the students want to improve and put in the effort to do so, they will. He also is very understanding and empathetic with situations and this makes all the difference. Would recommend Andy to any and everyone.

Andy is a great teacher! Taking his class made my day a little better, he makes class interesting and is absolutely hilarious. He dives into important conversations, and isnt afriad to teach controversial topics while being very respectful of all views. I definitely recommend him to others. Lots of reading/hw but he is happy to help if you need it!

This was a lecture but Andy made everything avaliable online if you had to miss class. He cares about your understanding of the material and the lectures help to drive the info home. Plus, hes absolutely hilarious. Great feedback on paper, excellent late work policy, and offers extra credit. Highly recomend him!

Loved having Mr. Gurevich as a professor! He was very understanding and helped me if I ever needed. Even though, his lectures maybe long its due to not having to use textbook. Which helps financially and he makes funny jokes during the lectures so you wont feel bored. I am very glad to have had taken his class.

Student in 2016/2017. I took 3 or 4 of his classes. To this day I think about going back to take his courses. I have ADHD. Despite his long lectures I was able to stay focused in class. I had a rough term and failed a class by 1% he found out, spoke to the department head and moved me up where I was able to join his class. Kind and caring guy.

The professor is very good explanation on videos' post on the black board and faxable assignment due date, I wish every body can attained his class, you will finish with out stress.

Professor Gurevich is an awesome professor. He cares so much about the subject and really helps students learn useful writing techniques through research that most can relate to. While his lectures are long, he really keeps your interest. He cares about each student and helps them individually. He is a terrific teacher.

Professor Gurevich is one of the most caring, intelligent, and respected professors I have had. He is not afraid to shy away from more controversial topics, yet avoids asserting his personal views in a way that could be controversial. He encourages his students to engage in critical thinking in and out of the classroom. Fantastic class and teacher.

Andy really cares about what he teaches. He is very knowledgeable and caring. He is flexible in nearly all circumstances. Andy is a fair grader and as long as you do the work and read the readings you should be able to get a good grade. He goes above and beyond in providing engaging materials and loves teaching. Andy is a terrific professor!

Very kind and extremely passionate about his craft. He made everything he expected and wanted from every paper very clear and gave a lot of time for each assignment. He made each assignment interesting and I can say I learned a lot from his class even though it was online. He genuinely cares about his students and their well being.

I would highly recommend this online class with Andy. Does have a lot of reading to do in this course but manageable. Just give extra credit, which was awesome cause it brought me back to a higher grade.
