He's a smart guy and his lectures are straightforward. He moves very fast and there's not many opportunities for questions in the large lecture hall setting. Go to office hours, tutoring and keep up and you'll be fine. Also, he gives pop "lecture assignments" that are open book and you can work with friends at least once a week. Don't skip class.

The tests were incredibly long, after the second exam over 1/3 of the class had to drop the class. The class is not curved, and 2/3 of the class received a final grade of a C-. In class he would always say if you do not understand a concept, it is too late now. Take 31 in an off semester or over the summer, Miller's class is no better.

I feel professor Ho gets blamed for the difficultly of the material. Chem 30 by nature is a lot of material and has importance, that being said the professor is forced to go though material fast. Professor Ho understands this and is dedicated to his students by holding lots of office hours and literally answering all questions during lecture

Look, chem30 is already a hard course, Andy Ho can't do much outside of that. Make an effort to study and you should be fine. I never got any actual help from him, but the TAs are usually very well presented and ready to help.

Horrible teacher. I had to teach myself all the content myself and he never explained where he got his answers from. I suggest if you can, choose a different professor for chem30, but if you don't have the choice just be prepared to do a lot of studying outside of the classroom.

Ho's lectures were clear and to the point. There was a reasonable and manageable amount of homework. His office hours are super helpful and he hosts a lot of them. I thought his class was pretty easy, but granted I did take AP chem in high school, which I think helped me a lot. Had I not, I probably would have had a harder time in this class.

Chem 030 definitely takes a lot of work and studying outside of class but it is definitely possible to succeed. Lab is a big portion of your grade, so definitely try hard in lab, as it technically accounts as the"curve" for the class. I would not recommend writing notes because you will not be able to keep up.

Chemistry is a challenging course in general, and the material will be tough to understand regardless. I think Ho did a fine job teaching during lectures, and if you go during office hours, he is ready to help you succeed, but you cannot expect him to hand it to you on a silver platter. You get a grade reflective of the effort you put in.

Andy Ho gives his students all the resources necessary to succeed in the class. Grades are reflected on your effort, so what you give is what you get. Lecture was helpful, and I found his commentary to be pretty funny. He may seem intimidating at first, but at the end of the day, he will do his job and teach you the material well.

This course was definitely the reflection of the effort you put into throughout the semester. For lectures, I would recommend only writing down the example questions and their solutions as taking down notes from the slides is way too much to handle. Definitely try to do all old exam questions for extra help and if anything, do attend office hours!!

Professor Ho provides a lot of resources for students to understand the material. He gives a lot of practice problems for his tests and his lectures guide you through the problem solving process. However, he can be a little crude at times and he doesn't stand for any shenanigans. The grade you receive is based on how much work you put in.

The amount of disrespect this man gets is insane. People don't show up to his class then they get upset when they fail the exams. Go to lecture with an open mind and be ready to follow along. His exams aren't curved but lab and homework make up 35% of your grade so if you do those and study consistently, you will be fine.

The moral of this class is to lock in for the final, since it drops your lowest test and is worth ~30% of your grade. I found the FRQs for each test to be easy, but did struggle on the MCQ at times.

Overall, he was an alright professor. The most notable thing was that the exams. They weren't the most challenging thing ever, but it was really easy to screw up a couple questions, and that would leave you open to pretty low exam scores. However, kids who fail every exam and do alright on the final can end up with a B. Overall, pretty good.

There is no reason to dislike Prof. Ho. He lectures very well and solves many practice problems in detail. I was always prepared for the homework and the homework prepared me for about 90% of the exam. Whenever I had difficulties on a problem, Prof. Ho was happy to help. There is every reason to dislike the chem 030 course structure though.
