Neill makes biology seem interesting. The study guides are very helpful, you'll do great on the test if you fill them out. He offers a lot of extra credit opportunities and makes the class entertaining. Not a lot of homework, but make sure you show up for the labs. Overall great teacher!

He's a funny, nice guy, sometimes can be awkward. Lectures are really long and boring, i try not to fall asleep and the notes we take aren't on the test so don't bother writing everything down. The labs we do are really confusing. The Study Guides are basically what the test is going to be, make sure you study hard because they're pretty tough.

Biology is a tough subject for anyone to learn. There is a lot of studying and memorization involved. Professor Neill is very knowledgeable and passionate about his teaching. He is very helpful and tries his best to help you understand the concepts. He is hilarious, loves to create an atmosphere where your at least enjoy yourself while you learn.

Not only is he extremely knowledgeable in the subjects he teaches, he is a genuinely good person and I am very grateful that I took his class.

Professor Neill was an "interesting" professor. It takes some time to get used to his humor and teaching style, but once you do the class is an easy pass. He definitely cares about his subject, but beware; you will spend A LOT of time talking about prairie lands, which wasn't what I expected from the course. Overall, he is good professor.

I've taken Bio 151 twice so far at JJC. I can definitely say this time around was much easier and lectures definetly prepares you for the test & quizzes. Had Professor Neill for BIO 107. I recommend it for non-science majors. The material is nothing too difficult; that being said there will be times where you're pretty lost on the topic. So long as you pay decent attention, you will be fine though. He is a really passionate, relaxed teacher and his dry sense of humor I personally found super funny.

Knows a lot about what he teaches and is very passionate about it. Easy work load and he goes over exactly what is going to be on the quizzes. Test were fine as long as you take notes. Lectures become repetitive and boring but overall this class was easy to pass.

Professor Neill made biology class enjoyable for someone who hadn't taken a science class since high school. Some of the material is difficult, but it is all learnable. The class does a lot of labs which helps boost your grade because they are mostly graded off of attendance. He's kind of funny, I recommend him for anyone needing a science class.

Professor Neill was a very charismatic instructor. I found it easy to connect and enjoy the topics discussed in class. I liked that he personally participated in various out of school activities that related to topics discussed in class and encouraged us to do the same but never making it a mandatory thing.

Amazing!!! My favorite male teacher at JJC so far. He is so funny and creates such an awesome environment. His class is real laid back meaning you feel really comfortable like you can ask any question or say any comment. He cares about his students and goes far out of his way to help any student in need. He plays a lot of videos whixh is awesome!

I loved Professor Neill! He was my favorite professor, he cares about his students and gives them many opportunities to succeed in class. He makes the material very easy to understand and he gives study guides for the exams which helps a lot. He offers many extra credit opportunities in this class. Professor Neill is an all around great Biology teacher. He is very passionate and knowledgeable about the topics he discusses in class. The discussions are usually interesting, and he does a great job of explaining things. The tests aren't too difficult just make sure you study. Overall, one of the best professors I have had at JJC.

His lectures can be really interesting, even though it is biology he puts humor into them so they are very fun. Professor Neill was my first class in the morning and was always a memorable class.

Makes class fun

Great teacher! I needed a science class to take with a lab and I did not want to take regular biology or chemistry since those aren't required for my major. Plants and society gives you great knowledge about plants and the ecosystem with out having to worry about the scrutiny of a regular Chem/biology class. We do lots of labs which makes it fun.

He is a great biology teacher. If you are not a science person but need the credit hour this is the class. You only use the novel WSB you don't eve use the textbook. Overall he is a great teacher. He cracks jokes a lot and makes class enjoyable.

I like how he took us to the fen to better understand our surroundings and i like how he gave us extra credit opportunities to look at other reserved areas.

Overall I found Professor Neill to be a very interesting teacher. As long as you turn your stuff in, and show up to class then there is no reason you shouldn't be able to receive an A or B. We get plenty of insight on upcoming tests and quizzes which makes preparing for them much easier. I would recommend this class to future students.

He is a funny and interesting teacher. I passed his class without the textbook. Expect a lot of homework that is usually very simple, such as typing prelabs. He posts study guides for his tests. The study guides are the tests without the answer choices. He also gives out extra credit for attending science related event.

Professor Neil gives you everything you need to be successful in his class. His study guides are the exact test and he gives good study materials for the lab practicals. I really enjoyed his class, but it's easy to lose focus sometimes during lecture. He is pretty sarcastic and I did see instances where he was "rude" to other students.

Great professor. I'm not good at science but he made the class really fun and explained well enough for non science majors to understand. He's a really nice funny guy and he has fun interesting labs that you learn a lot from. It's not a class you can pass if you don't want to do anything though! He does lecture, but questions are always welcome. He finds different ways of explaining concepts for students to understand. If you work, you will learn and do well.

You have to be realist, if you are taking Biology and want this is the teacher to take. Yes it is hard but well worth it. Prof Neill's passion for science transforms it from "boring" and "difficult" into easy to understand and intriguing. The summer course is fast-paced, but expectations were reasonable. The book helped, but wasn't necessary because he gives you insightful and valuable notes, and you can ace the exams/quizzes by STUDYING and understanding them.

Lectures are hard to follow in the moment but when you go over them, they make sense (& theyre not too long). Make sure to copy EVERYTHING on each slide (even small stuff!), if its not a test/quiz ?, itll probably be extra credit. He's very straight forward & provides plenty of resources for you to succeed. This class was intended for non-bio majors, and as an English major, I'd definitely recommend it. Professor Neill provides study guides and all the exams are pretty straight-forward. The labs tend to be very vague, so Google is your best friend for this class. Didn't use the textbook very much at all, only for the last project.

Proffesor Neill is very passionate about biology. Remember to pay attention to his lectures, he gives lots of extra credit opportunities on tests and out of class. Study guides provided are very similar to the exams. The hardest part of this class is the lab practicals. Studying for hours+ is the only way you will revieve a good grade on them.

He was an AMAZING professor! You need to show up to class, due to the lectures and labs he gives. If you do not you will be confused. His study guides are the exact version of the test. So DO the study guides.

The class is like any other biliogy class. But it is not an easy A. You will have to study for the test. Not study would likely get you a D or F. His lectures can get a little boring at times but he lightens the mood with some jokes. The class goes by really fast though. There are plenty of XC opportunities as well.

This section of Bio146 was online. Like any other online class, I had to be organized and check the modules often. Prof Neill responds quickly to emails and is very kind and professional.
