Neill makes biology seem interesting. The study guides are very helpful, you'll do great on the test if you fill them out. He offers a lot of extra credit opportunities and makes the class entertaining. Not a lot of homework, but make sure you show up for the labs. Overall great teacher!
Mr. Neill is a good teacher because he is passionate about teaching biology. He gives study guides and extra credit. If you put in the effort, you'll do fine. He gives opportunities to ask questions and your opinions on things. He's also a funny teacher so it makes the class fun.
funny guy
He's a funny, nice guy, sometimes can be awkward. Lectures are really long and boring, i try not to fall asleep and the notes we take aren't on the test so don't bother writing everything down. The labs we do are really confusing. The Study Guides are basically what the test is going to be, make sure you study hard because they're pretty tough.
He's a fun teacher and definitely makes it interesting because you laugh a lot. He gives out study guides for exams that are exactly like the test but the lab practicals are really hard and you definitely have to study for them. Overall, a good class and I'd take it again.
I personally would not take Mr. Neill again. There are no make ups for labs if you have to miss and one bad test can kill your grade beyond repair. If you don't come to class don't expect to get anywhere, and when you are in class the lectures are long, boring, and there is never enough material to fill the time but he keeps you there anyway.
This class takes a lot of effort on the student's part. The lectures and labs help a lot with what's on the exams, but in order to understand the material, it requires a good amount of reading from the textbook.
Great professor! It really is a class that you have to work for your grade. Just make sure you plan time to study. The tests are pretty straight forward from the study guide; however, the practicals are a whole other world. Prepare for a lot of funny dad jokes relating to biology. Overall, the class was great and I would definitely take him again.
Good teacher isn't always clear about tests and deadlines. Need to pay attention in class completely to do well
Even if your not a Bio major, you will enjoy this class. Professor Neill is full of wisdom.
Long classes, his lectures are really dry but his crude humor kinda makes up for it and that he actually knows what he is teaching. Not a bad class, definitely would take again.
Professor Neill's classes are pretty long and boring, along with his lectures. His crude humor makes up for some of it, and the fact that he knows what he is teaching, one of the better bio teachers I have had, would take again.
Great teacher that wants his students to learn and keep things interesting. The subject matter can be tough to get used to, but it is so intriguing that it makes you want to learn it, and with a cool teacher it is even better.
Like any other science class, how much effort you put into it will reflect on your grade. He's a great teacher, not to mention hilarious, makes class interesting and creates a great atmosphere. Always prepares you for upcoming tests, quizzes, and practicals, he will never leave you in the dark. Make sure you study hard and show up to class.
This is a relatively easy bio class, just show up and you should be able to get at least a B. It is boring, his jokes are lame, but he does give plenty of extra credit and study guides for the exams.
Lecture runs a bit long, but labs are always easy and he is helpful the entire time
You get what you put into the course.
Neill does his best to keep things interesting, especially given that the subject matter is often boring. Uber funny, weird sense of humor. A lot of the grade is tests, most of which come from notes. There are obviously smaller assignments (which add up, I guess), and extra credit is offered through out the semester.
Professor Neill is a great professor. He gives all the tools and beyond to help you succeed in biology. You must do your part as a student to succeed as well. He provides a variety of resources such as study guides and outline to your notes. He also provides extra credit oppurtunities. He makes biology interesting and easy to learn. Take him!!!!
He gives tons of extra credit. But, usually one the weekends. If you work full-time like I do newrly impossible to do any of it. Quizzes are hard. Test are basically the study guides he does. Does not do much reviewing for final so be prepared to figure it out on your own
He is always in a good mood, and always there for help. Professor Neill is really funny, and you'll have yourself telling stories about his class. As for the work, the study guides for the tests are one of the same. If you ACTUALLY DO the study guide, there is no reason why you shouldn't Ace the test. He also has a lot of extra credit opportunities
Show up and apply yourself and you'll be fine.
Great teacher
This class was very interesting and I thought he was a very good teacher. He wants his students to understand plants better. He was very passionate about this subject. His lectures can be a little boring but if you take notes you'll be fine for the test. Also I would recommend going to every class because most days we did a lab.
Biology is a tough subject for anyone to learn. There is a lot of studying and memorization involved. Professor Neill is very knowledgeable and passionate about his teaching. He is very helpful and tries his best to help you understand the concepts. He is hilarious, loves to create an atmosphere where your at least enjoy yourself while you learn.
Proffesor Neil is a very organized and straight to the point teacher, he loves his job and you can tell by his way of teaching. He is also very understanding and gives plenty of extra credit opportunities. I would take him again !
Teach was extremely fun. He understand that the class is all about plants and many student don't care about that so he made it entertaining and easy to remember things.
As a non-science major, I still very much enjoyed his class, mainly because of his quirky sense of humor and how passionate he is about plants. The subject matter is difficult to grasp and it's easy to zone out on lectures, but it's best to take notes. The study guides for tests are a bit confusing, but otherwise it was a great class!
Pay attention and you'll pass.
Great guy that understands his students. If you have the option to take him I suggest you do. He was very helpful and made the class enjoyable as well as a great learning environment
Neill is such a great teacher. I had to take this class for my Pre req. My major is not Biology and I went into this class thinking it was going to be boring and not interesting to me but I had such a great time and I really enjoyed this class and labs. I think Prof Neill made me like the class more because he clarified everything and was hilarious
An amazing professor! I leave every class inspired and wanting to change the world! Best class that I've taken. Professor is humorous and knowledgeable. He is engaging and makes class a ton of fun! He challenges you and makes you think about things. Don't take him if you plan to sit back during class, he looks for class participation. Need TEXTBOOK
Participation matters, he does give feedback if you ask, is a nice guy, if you do the work and apply yourself you will pass the class. dont miss class if you can help it
Great grass enthusiast
He is a good teacher, his classes are fun! Expect homework!! homework counts A LOT! Definetely recommend this teacher, the tests are easy as long as you study. Theyre short so if you get one wrong then your grade will get low.. So study study! Homework helps a lot so if youre not a test taker just do your homework.
Cool guy. He tries to lighten up classes by cracking jokes and showing videos. Quizzes can sometimes be tricky because most of the time he wants examples that are not in the notes. The tests should be what's expected. He's the only prof I've had so far who doesn't beat around the bush when it comes to study guides. Tons of extra credit. Take him.
He is a great teacher, and I am actually completely revolving my schedule to take his class. He offers extra credit all the time and is always willing to help. Participation in the class is what makes it interesting, and he gives sly hilarious remarks if you pay attention. Go to his class with an open mind. His study guides are literally the tests.
He's super nice. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities, all worth 10pts. If you need help with the study guides, he stays after class to discuss it with you. Make sure you take notes because the study guides come from the notes and labs. I usually hate doing labs but the labs in his class were really fun and related to the lesson.
Great teacher! You can tell he really loves the subject. If you put in the work, you will get a good grade. Also, he gives a ton of extra credit opportunities.
Not too hard of a teacher, if you attend regularly to take notes and do the homework an A or B is easy enough to obtain. There are tons of extra credit opportunities to take advantage of as well.
Professor Neill Is an excellent teacher! He gives a lot of chances to thrive in his class as long as you pay attention. Also he offers many extra credit opportunities. Test study guides are basically the tests themselves and the tests include bonus questions. Though I'm a fine arts major I have enjoyed my time in his class.
Professor Neill is a great teacher! Class is not hard as long as you attend and take notes. Quizzes can be somewhat difficult. Homework counts a lot towards grades. But he also give a lot of extra credit! I would recommend taking this class with him.
All you have to do to pass is show up and pay attention to the lectures. He does assign reading, but it is only one chapter at a time and isn't horrible. I learned a lot and enjoyed coming to class.
Fun and simple class! You know what to expect to get an A
Very good teacher, he knows what he's talking about and makes the lessons easy to understand.
Andy Neill was an awesome professor this semester! He has a good sense of humor and can make the whole class laugh. If there are any questions you may have, he would be more than happy to help you. I never once opened the textbook, so more than likely you won't use it, however "Where the Sky Began" is required. I would definitely recommend him.
Professor Neill is amazing, he is hilarious and his lectures are entertaining. He gives extra credit and you cannot fail as long as you show up and do the assignments he gives out. Super awesome teacher and I am so glad I took this class, it was a lot of fun and I really learned a lot from him.
Easy A if you study, come to class, and do the labs and pre-labs. Study guides are helpful.
Neill is a nice professor and gives many opportunities of extra credit. His study guides are really helpful and similar to the exams although your on your own for quizzes. If your having trouble with labs he will help. Overall I would highly recommend taking him.
Easy class if you do all your homework, read the book, and pay attention in class. Its pretty easy to start daydreaming though during his lectures despite his sense of humor to try and spice things up... :/
DO NOT FORGET TO DO THE PRE-LABS! Offers adequate amount of extra credit so don't take that for granted. He's a really corny guy, so bear with his humor. It's funny though. I would suggest renting or borrowing the textbook. Professor Neill is an overall nice man. Not to mention he's easy on the eyes; ages like fine wine.
Professor Neill is very good at keeping his students involved in his lectures and labs, and is an overall great professor. He is very fun and always makes class interesting. He also prepares the class for each exam, and helps his students succeed. I would definitely reccomend him to anyone interested in taking biology.
You won't get bored in class, and he describes everything very well.
He's super funny. Class was actually really hard, but if you read the book & actually take time to study you'll pass. He gives TONS of extra credit opportunities.
His test are everything covered in the notes. No project. Easy homework. Lots of extra credit options
Tests are a bit difficult and PowerPoints are not posted online.
He's super funny, he love making the class interested. Ok, the class was so hard but if you pay attention and take good notes, oh and ready the chapters you would do good. Test are tough but if you really sit and study the material you should do good. And a lot of memorization of diagrams. OH ONE MORE THING HE LOVES BISON'S.
He's a cool teacher, it was a very easy & interesting class.
Such a funny guy and knows how to keep lectures interesting!
class was fun, good amount of extra credit offered.
Professor Neill is a great teacher. He gives lots of extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. He is funny and willing to help you if you ask him for help. His study guides are pretty much the test questions word for word. If I had to take another biology class I would definitely take him!
Mr. Neill is a good teacher. We tended to get off topic a decent amount of times and the lectures tended to move at a snails pace. Also, the information on them wasn't complete. Personally, I only read the book and never took notes in class because the book was much more detailed and I was able to pass the class. Also, expect homework.
Professor Neill is amazing. He is hilarious and makes the class so much fun with the different labs. STUDY STUDY STUDY for every test and you will pass. Study guide is like the test :) Would take him again.
A difficult class at times but the notes and lectures helped alot. Easy to follow throughout the semester
Great class to take but must be willing to put in the study time. Study guides match the test and ask questions for clarity. He gives plenty examples such as verbal, visual and labs match the chapter discussed that week in class.
He's a fun teacher. He's gives a lot of extra credit opportunities, and the homework is easy to do. I personally think you don't need the environmental studies textbook, but the reading book is mandatory as you will be reading it and filling out packets on each chapter throughout the semester. I would recommend the class, if you need science credit
Professor Neill is a great teacher. Always fun to be in his class and is very easy to talk to. Very good at explaining materials and is clear about what is suppose to be on the exams. If you show up to class and pay attention to what he says then you should have no problem passing. Also very understanding, make-ups given if needed.
He was funny and pretty nice, but he didn't go over study guides before tests and sometimes his notes weren't all that great. Notes are on power points but the book helps. I wouldn't take him again.
He's super funny and if you ask for help you won't really have to beg for it. He's willing to help you pass if you're willing to put the work in. The study guide is given before tests but not quizzes. Study guides are the notes! Study guides are pretty much word for word of the tests! I'd have him as a teacher again.
Professor Neill tries to make the class enjoyable by adding his own sense of humor to it.
Professor Neill was a very good. He tells you what's expected in tests. Study guides are exactly like the test. All answers are mostly in notes. He's very funny and dosent make class so boring.
Professor Neill is a really cool guy. He's laid back and funny so it makes the class go by quick. He gives extra credit which is a plus. The class itself is difficult if you don't read the book. The lectures are long and boring if you are not into basic cell biology. All of that set aside, I would definitely take the class again.
A very entertaining teacher. If you're there for every lecture, you can basically ace any test without trying too hard. He keeps his students' attention span going by being funny, adding in cool facts, and showing videos! It's not too bad, but sometimes the class feels long. The textbook is unnecessary but the assigned book is a must-have!
Neill is sublime. Knows his stuff and inspired me to look at plants more closely. Exams are thorough and study guide very helpful.
This is my second semester of taking Mr. Neill's class. I am not into science at all, but he makes the material interesting that you actually want to show up for class.
Amazing teacher, but you are going to work in this class. TAKE GOOD NOTES.
Interesting teacher. Was unsure of him at first but he ended up being very nice and funny teacher. As long as you take notes and study them and do all your work, you will do good in the class.
Profesor Neill is an amazing teacher. Expected to take notes because are the answers for test. He gives study guides and extra credits.
Overall, the class isn't that unbearable because he tries to make it fun as best as he can but it tends to drag. He usually lets us leave 10-15 minutes early. He gives study guides for tests with all the questions that are gonna be on the test which is helpful but can be confusing because he doesn't give the multiple choice answers to choose from.
Great teacher to take for this class, but prepare to ready. The text book is essential as well as the labs.
You would have to do some serious slacking to fail this class. Neill gives plenty of extra credit opportunities and only gives about one homework assignment a week. He has quite the awkward humor that can be quite funny at times. Overall good teacher and good class just don't be too lazy.
An amazing teacher! I struggle with biology but he makes the lecture interesting. Definitely take him! There are many extra credit opportunities
Environmental Bio will not need to buy the textbook. There is a lot of extra credit given.
One of the best classes I have taken so far in college. If you are looking for a quality science class and want to actually learn something I would advise taking one of Professor Neills courses. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable in the subjects he teaches, he is a genuinely good person and I am very grateful that I took his class.
Professor Neill was an "interesting" professor. It takes some time to get used to his humor and teaching style, but once you do the class is an easy pass. He definitely cares about his subject, but beware; you will spend A LOT of time talking about prairie lands, which wasn't what I expected from the course. Overall, he is good professor.
He's an awkward dude, takes a minute to get used to him but he offers lots of extra credit. Is clear from the start what he expects. You watch videos a lot of them. The man loves his prairies, and Midewin National Tallgrass. (which you should go see!) Nice guy cares about his students. Do the study guides because those add up really quickly. :)
As long as you pay decent attention and take notes this class is great. Neill is incredibly straightforward and makes things as easy as possible if you meet him halfway. Also he must have offered up at least 50 points extra credit over the semester very generously. He is also known to rock AC/DC devil horns in class so that's a plus.
Pretty good teacher, gives homework often mainly on chapters on the book (where the sky began) do not buy the actual bio book you will not need it. Everything is either on the novel or in the lecture notes. Doesn't give you answers on the study guide. Just write down the notes and read the book and should get a solid B.
He gives a lot of extra credit . He doesn't a great job when it comes to grading test & assignments . As long as you study and pay attention In class notes you will pass . He doesn't give answers to study guide however this study guide prepares you for the upcoming exam overall he's a great teacher & don't miss or be late to any classes .
He is a good teacher, bio is not my major or strong point. I struggled with tests, probably should have read more. He has a dry cents of humor. Very few students got his jokes. He will break up the lecture if needed.
Overall he is a great teacher , he gives a lot of extra credit . He is very down to Earth funny . He grade test, quizzes and homework assignments quick . However he is fair when it come to grading . He is pretty straight forward . I recommend that you come on time & take good notes other than that great teacher
He's really funny which made it a lot easier to stay awake the whole two hours I was there. If you go to class and take notes and put in a little bit of time before tests and quizzes you should be fine.
Was a class that I didn't mind going to at 8 in the morning. He cares about the content of the class, and is smart enough to teach it in a clear and engaging way. He also makes a good effort to provide a little comic relief whenever possible. Definitely would like to have him again as a teacher.
Easy class, don't have to read the book much, pay attention and take notes - very cool guy
Professor Neill always knew how to keep class fun even during long lectures. This is a tough course but as long as you show up to class do the assignments and take notes you should do well. He also gives many extra credit opportunities. Overall I highly recommend taking Professor Neill for Bio151.
The class is extremely easy if you are involved and paying attention. Read the book it helps. And do the study guides they're the tests without answers. You should have no problem with this class if you actually put in work.
A lot of students complain about this guy but what they are not realizing is that it isn't easy to teach a biology class with 7 contact hours per week. Of course it is going to get boring. Neill does his best to spice things up and get the class interested. He wants each and every student to succeed and gives inspirational advice all of the time.
Prof. Neill is a really nice, outgoing guy. His lectures are long, but he makes the class interesting and is always joking around to keep us awake. His tests are basically the study guide, and he helps you as much as he can. I do advise to always go to class because you will miss a lot!
Expect to study & do work outside of class. There is pretty much a lab every week, but they aren't too hard. Tests towards the end of the semester are more challenging & there are quizzes in between almost every test. Makes lectures interesting.
I've taken Bio 151 twice so far at JJC. I can definitely say this time around was much easier and lectures definetly prepares you for the test & quizzes. Professor Neill is a cool, laid-back teacher but sometimes too sarcastic and not understanding. You can definetly tell when he is not a fan of you because he will pick on you.
Mr. Neill was actually a pretty cool and laid back teacher. Class was about 2 hrs long but never really felt like it. Biology isn't the easiest to learn, atleast not for me but he did a good job at teaching it to the best of his ability. Expect to read the book outside of class and defenitley do the study guides. Many opportunities for ex credit!
The class way very interesting.
straight forward class.
Overall, you get out what you put in. If you do the work & study you'll be straight. Also very funny guy.
He does a really good job explaining all the technological stuff so that it's easier to understand. He does give extra credit. Take advantage. Also, make sure you attend class and participate. Just because you're physically in class doesn't mean you are there mentally.
He grades easy and is easy to talk to. Class doesn't seem as long when he teaches as long as you show up and pay attention you'll get a decent grade overall
Professor Neill is entertaining during class, he tries to make it fun and interesting. I did learn a lot from this class. I would recommend him, just make sure to take notes and come to class.
He's an amazing teacher. The lectures are long but you'll do a lot of labs that'll make time fly. If you need any help or have any questions, don't hesitate to ask because he's more than happy to help you.
I took him for 107 class and he is the best. Grading is fair, what you get is what you get. His class is simple as long as you pay attention and participate. There are some labs and most of them are fun, I would take again if I needed future Bio classes. Awesome teacher.
Professor Neill is a good teacher you just need to participate and study for exams.
Neill, was a fun teacher to have, he'd try to make jokes, and most of the time we laughed. He does give out a decent amount of homework, but the work relates to what's being done in class, plus its not difficult homework, fairly easy. So if you pay attention you'll know what to study and you'll learn fun facts.
He's a very good teacher and he's passionate about what he teaches. On top of that he's a funny, nice, good guy.
Bio 146 with professor Neill was an overall enjoyable class. The content isn't always fun or mind-blowing, but Neill's sense of humor and jokes do liven it up a bit and make it more bearable. The class itself is not very hard, homework is given but it isn't hard. Textbook isn't required but the novel is and expect to read. Show up, pay attention.
Just to make sure to study for the tests and look over the diagrams on the exams. Do all of the labs aswell.
By far my favorite class of the semester. Absolutely loved my class and the teacher. Would definitely take again. I believe he does a good job trying to teach non-majors about plants. As long as you study the diagrams and pay attention to the lectures you should be golden.
Prof. Neill is a great teacher, would take his class again. You may not totally like the subject but you will like the class.
He's a really nice teacher. Definitely knows what he is talking about and cares about his field. Pretty funny too. His tests are pretty easy, and extra-credit opportunities are abundant. My only complaint was that I didn't feel challenged, but whatever. Great entry-level bio class for non-bio majors.
This professor was the kind of professor that makes you relieved that such professors exist. Honestly, I thought Bio 151 was going to be brutal. It was a lot of hard work, but the professor makes it so understandable. Never change!
Professor Neill is gives his students numerous resources to help them succeed in his class. He gave study guides that resembled the test accurately and if you completed it. It was a guaranteed passing grade on the exam.
Professor Neill is awesome. You have to do the work and study, but if you do that, you'll be fine. This is my second class with him, and I highly recommend taking him. This is not a class where you slack off.
Great professor! I would definitely take another course with him.
Study hard, his study guides are mostly the key to passing the tests but follow along ALL his lectures
He is a great professor and would have him again.
Entertaining, and keeps a light atmosphere even during difficult subject matter.
Instructor sometimes has little patience for immaturity but someone who really cares about the environment and what he teaches.
He hated our class ever since a student asked him a question that he couldn't give an answer to. Monotone teacher. Read straight from the book and didn't explain anything. Very boring and rude. Doesn't seem to know much detail about biology because he could never answer peoples questions.
Some students are just plain rude and don't know a good teacher when they see him. Ignore the haters cuz they got issues themselves. Lectures were clear and easy to follow. Study guides always helpful.
Makes exams easy, lots and lots of extra credit opportunities, and occasional fun videos throughout the lecture. Only bio professor that I've ever had who actually tries to make it easy for you to get the grade you want.
Easy class that is easy to pass and get an A. Mostly just showing up for lectures and labs, rarely any homework.
Professor Neil is an excellent teacher. I feel like I have learned a lot from Biology-Plants and Society. He is really nice and cares a lot about his students. The class is very interesting as well. I would very much recommend Mr. Neill to anyone. I would like to take one of his classes again. Mr. Neill is a great teacher!
I feel like I have learned a lot from Biology-Plants and Society. He is really nice and cares a lot about his students. He is very accommodating. The class is very interesting and enjoyable as well. I would very much recommend Mr. Neill to anyone. I would like to take one of his classes again in the future. Professor Neill is a great teacher!
His class was pretty simple if you attended class and took notes. Quizzes and tests were straight forward and it was a pretty enjoyable class.
Mr. Neill is a very good professor, who cares about his students. As long as you actually but study time in, and do what is expected, you will be set up for success. He also is very great at giving extra credit, so I highly recommend that you take advantage of that.
If you show up and participate in class and do the homework you should be fine. For the tests, he gives you a study that is the test but has taken out the answers. Overall pretty easy just have to pay attention. Don't use the books that often but they do come in handy especially for the labs.
This class is 2 hours long. We do lots of group project which are not bad. But half the class time is lecture which puts me to sleep. He does hand out study guides that are helpful. I would take this class again if the lecture wasnt so boring.
It was a good choice for me because I am not a science major! The professor was funny which made the lectures easier. He gave hints and helped whenever help was asked for. Tests were not too hard because there were study guides.
Very knowledgeable in his field of study, but theres only three tests the semester all covering alot of material.
Yes he is hilarious and friendly, but he is not the best teacher. He will not answer questions you have on the test and there are not a lot of assignments in the grade book. You'll definitely get out of class early everyday, but won't learn much.
He is a really good teacher. Make sure you turn your assignments in on time. Textbook is used fairly often. If you don't understand something, he is more than willing to answer your questions.
He gives extra credit that relates to the course, and if you're majoring in anything related to biology, you'll enjoy the extra credit. The extra credit opportunities are numerous, and nearly every extra credit opportunity will show you how this stuff relates to the real world. Memorize the study guides. The questions are word-for-word from theTest
Professor Neill has a smooth teaching style.
Overall Professor Neill was a great professor for Plants and Society! His class however were really boring. Most of his classes are lectures but he makes them fun by telling jokes. His test are pretty easy and he gives quite a bit of extra credit in case you do bad. So its an easy A or B if you do the work and show up to class.
Good teacher. Has expectations which can be easily met. Funny professor, especially toward the end of the class. Would recommend.
Professor Neill is a great guy, though his lectures can be a bit boring. He makes the class easy by giving you the questions to the test so you know what to study for and plenty of extra credit. If you put in effort and he sees that you try, he will help you pass.
This guy talks a monotone the whole time but he is fair in grading and the work is easy. The class is very long as well
Prof. Neill is a great teacher, and has a great sense of humor. Would definitely recommend.
An easy class if you show up. He gives extra credit opportunities, and if you act on them the class should be an easy A for you.
Professor Neill is one of the funniest teachers I've ever had. He is always in a good mood and makes jokes about every situation. His humor is hard to explain but I find myself holding back laughter every class. The class itself isn't that hard and you can tell he really cares about his field. He is one of few people to care about what they teach.
He's a really cool professor & makes learning fun!
Very good teacher, specific in what is expected and forgiving because of the extra credit opportunities that are given throughout the semester. Very funny at times with a dry humor during lectures that makes it much more fun. Overall a great teacher to have for learning and very fair at all times with grading system.
good teacher but very boring lectures. gives a lot of extra credit but it mostly consists of coming to school on Saturday mornings. study guides help A LOT for the tests so make sure you do them and compare answers with your classmates.
If you attend class, you can really do well. You can tell he really wants all students to succeed in the class. He provides study guides to help with testing. The guides are super helpful. I actually learned a lot about plants and remember most of the material I learned in the course.
Overall a great teacher, who is straight forward with the material.
Easy A! Makes the class less boring by being comical. Homework is fair. Labs are easy. Lectures can be note heavy. Not much is learned from lecture just main points. Fair at grading. Show up-Participate-Take notes-Do all work-Ask questions.
Professor Neill is a good teacher. Bio 152 is not an easy class, so you need to stydy. He give a lot of extra credit opportynity.
Great teacher! Take his notes to pass and gives good study guides! Take Neil!
Best professor I've had at JJC so far! Kept me entertained each time I came to class. Study guides are just like the tests. He cares about expanding your horizon in biology by giving extra credit opportunities. Shows videos and recommends resources to learn from.
Bio 152 is hard class in itself, so you need to work hard and take the time to study. Professor Neill makes the class very manageable. He gives you study guides for the exams and they are very helpful. He has a good sense of humor which makes the class enjoyable as well. If you need to take Bio 152, I highly recommend Professor Neill.
I have learned to understand how the plant grow and use the mirscope and slides. He helped me understand better by explaining clearly in the class room.
He's a good proffesor just a little bit monotone and quiet but is very sarcasticly funny. Attendance is mandatory. He does get a little upset when people don't show up. Be ready for some not well explained directions.
Very knowledgeable and passionate. He may even get you to care about the natural environment if you pay attention. Prepare for scientific vigor.
Professor Neill was one of my favorite professors at JJC! His class is extremely straight forward, so theres no reason anyone should fail (unless you skip every day and miss all the labs) Although the lectures and topics can be dry, Professor Neill does his best to make things enjoyable with a few jokes (mostly that only he will laugh at)Take him!
The guy has a high blood pressure problem and is very easily ticked off, if not taking his meds.
He would give jokes whenever we are doing something in class like writing notes or just when we are getting into the class. definelty, need to have class particpation he will take points off if your not particpating. he does give quite alot of extra credit opportunities if you aren't doing well in class you can have extra points you can earn.
Mr. Neill is a great teacher, he makes lectures and class very interesting and fun. Tests should be easy if you know the material, he cares about students and realizes that they have lives outside of school so he schedules tests accordingly.
Are you looking for a teacher that is knowledgeable, caring, yet also makes the class enjoyable and finds humor in all things? Andy Neill is a great choice. Biology can be challenging, but Professor Neill makes the class interesting and easy to succeed if you put in the effort. Enjoy it. Don't undermine its difficulty, effort is still required!
This class is not easy, your going to have to work to get a good grade but professor Neill makes it fun and he breaks up the long lectures with a food joke here or there. I'd say the hardest part of the class are the lab practical's if you don't study hard you will bomb them.
Professor Neil is a very interesting instructor, he makes the lessons fun and tests are easy. He is approachable and does not shut anyone out, regardless what they need help with.
Professor Neil is a very interesting instructor, he makes the lessons fun and tests are easy. He is approachable and does not shut anyone out, regardless what they need help with. Best professor for Biology.
Prof. Neill is a great professor to take if you want to be opened up to the issues of the world. I have taken him twice as an instructor just because he shows great importance of taking care of the world we live in. I pretty much changed my major because of these classes. Take notes and pay attention. This info is so useful for environmental majors
Had Professor Neill for BIO 107. I recommend it for non-science majors. The material is nothing too difficult; that being said there will be times where you're pretty lost on the topic. So long as you pay decent attention, you will be fine though. He is a really passionate, relaxed teacher and his dry sense of humor I personally found super funny.
Fun dude, can be a bit a little dry from time to time but the lectures and material were right on the point. Would I take this teacher again? For sure, also don't forget to read the textbook, some of it is pretty valuable. The teacher has a sense of humor so be warned.
one of the best
Funniest teacher i've ever had
I believe that this course should be mandatory. You will learn the importance of saving your environment. Professor Neill is a great teacher. His lectures are both interesting and entertaining. I consider science to be my worst subject, yet under his instruction I was able to improve and do well in the class.
Great teacher with a great personality. You can miss a few classes and still get full attendance credit. Not very work-heavy.
Great teacher with a great personality. You can miss a few classes and still get full attendance credit. Not very work-heavy. Always joking with students.
Great teacher with a great personality. Made a class that seemed boring fun. Always made the whole class laugh and explained assignments very well. Would take him again. Also do not need to buy text book.
Knows a lot about what he teaches and is very passionate about it. Easy work load and he goes over exactly what is going to be on the quizzes. Test were fine as long as you take notes. Lectures become repetitive and boring but overall this class was easy to pass.
Professor Neill made biology class enjoyable for someone who hadn't taken a science class since high school. Some of the material is difficult, but it is all learnable. The class does a lot of labs which helps boost your grade because they are mostly graded off of attendance. He's kind of funny, I recommend him for anyone needing a science class.
Professor Neill was a very charismatic instructor. I found it easy to connect and enjoy the topics discussed in class. I liked that he personally participated in various out of school activities that related to topics discussed in class and encouraged us to do the same but never making it a mandatory thing.
Amazing!!! My favorite male teacher at JJC so far. He is so funny and creates such an awesome environment. His class is real laid back meaning you feel really comfortable like you can ask any question or say any comment. He cares about his students and goes far out of his way to help any student in need. He plays a lot of videos whixh is awesome!
I loved Professor Neill! He was my favorite professor, he cares about his students and gives them many opportunities to succeed in class. He makes the material very easy to understand and he gives study guides for the exams which helps a lot. He offers many extra credit opportunities in this class. You really have to try to fail this class.
Decent class.
Prof. Neill evidently has a passion for the environment and for biology so it makes the lectures all the more enjoyable. It's very easy to follow along in class provided that you've also read the required readings - if you have, there'll be no issue for you in this class.
Great professor- he is very passionate about his work and makes class a relaxed atmosphere. I would definitely recommend his class!!
Easy going teacher and the class was enjoyable
I've taken 2 courses with this professor, and I'd probably take another, if needed. Neill is clear on what's expected, and if you listen and take notes; you can pass with an A or B. Always clear on subject, and easy to understand the lecture. Lots of extra credit!!!
Professor Neill is an all around great Biology teacher. He is very passionate and knowledgeable about the topics he discusses in class. The discussions are usually interesting, and he does a great job of explaining things. The tests aren't too difficult just make sure you study. Overall, one of the best professors I have had at JJC.
Very clear about expectations. The book where the sky began is needs, but the other book isn't. Study guides help for the test. Do the work and you will be good!
Easy class, just boring
Great teacher. He made class fun to be in, not a lot of homework, and a lot of labs and extra credit.
Professor Neill has a dry sense of humor. He really connects to his students and wants them to succeed. He has real talks and does not leave anything out. His lectures can be really interesting, even though it is biology he puts humor into them so they are very fun. Professor Neill was my first class in the morning and was always a memorable class.
Makes class fun
Great teacher! I needed a science class to take with a lab and I did not want to take regular biology or chemistry since those aren't required for my major. Plants and society gives you great knowledge about plants and the ecosystem with out having to worry about the scrutiny of a regular Chem/biology class. We do lots of labs which makes it fun.
He is a great biology teacher. If you are not a science person but need the credit hour this is the class. You only use the novel WSB you don't eve use the textbook. Overall he is a great teacher. He cracks jokes a lot and makes class enjoyable.
Makes class fun and enjoyable to go to. Connects with the students so they can succeed.
Class was pretty easygoing, there were constant extra credit opportunities. The assignments were clear with ample time to complete them. Personally I thought that his jokes were funny and he is very passionate about his subject. Would definitely take his class again.
Overall Professor Neill was an amazing professor. His lectures were very easy to follow. This class will be easy if you do all your work and pay attention during his lectures. Do the study guides and you will do well on the exams.
I like how he took us to the fen to better understand our surroundings and i like how he gave us extra credit opportunities to look at other reserved areas.
He told us personal stories about his involvement with the environment and the trips he went on and what hes learned and shares it with us.
Good teacher. Grading scale is very clear and you will know what to expect on the test due to his study guides.
Overall I found Professor Neill to be a very interesting teacher. As long as you turn your stuff in, and show up to class then there is no reason you shouldn't be able to receive an A or B. We get plenty of insight on upcoming tests and quizzes which makes preparing for them much easier. I would recommend this class to future students.
Professor Neill was awesome. A true educator with a passion.
He is a funny and interesting teacher. I passed his class without the textbook. Expect a lot of homework that is usually very simple, such as typing prelabs. He posts study guides for his tests. The study guides are the tests without the answer choices. He also gives out extra credit for attending science related event.
Professor Neil gives you everything you need to be successful in his class. His study guides are the exact test and he gives good study materials for the lab practicals. I really enjoyed his class, but it's easy to lose focus sometimes during lecture. He is pretty sarcastic and I did see instances where he was "rude" to other students.
Great professor. I'm not good at science but he made the class really fun and explained well enough for non science majors to understand. He's a really nice funny guy and he has fun interesting labs that you learn a lot from. It's not a class you can pass if you don't want to do anything though! Professor Neill gets a 10/10 loved the class!
BIO 146 is a credit class, and so he treats it like one. Nearing spring break, I can confirm that I have barley learned anything related to environmental biology. He injects his political rhetoric into lessons and can be almost too sarcastic with students. He isn't the worst, but there are certainly better options out there.
Prof. Neill is clearly passionate about his job and knowledgeable in his area of expertise. He gives out some home work, but its all to help you study for quizzes/tests. He does lecture, but questions are always welcome. He finds different ways of explaining concepts for students to understand. If you work, you will learn and do well.
Prof Neill really has a passion for what he teaches and wants you to pass. Dont take any electronics to class or have them out because he will be upset. Very understanding & gives good powerpoints on the material. There is an option for extra credit every semester. I took him twice & liked him as a professor. He rounds your grade if its 1%.
You have to be realist, if you are taking Biology and want this is the teacher to take. Yes it is hard but well worth it. The test are challenging but if you follow the study guide and read the material you will be good. He gives you opportunity to earn extra credit. He means well and is a great teacher. Make sure to read the material and ask ?
Professor Neill was an amazing teacher .... took him over the summer class. It was a 6 week course so it was def challenging but he gives you lots of extra credit opportunities. His texts are literally the study guide but if you put the time into it you can pass. I would def recommend him and take his class again!
Prof Neill's passion for science transforms it from "boring" and "difficult" into easy to understand and intriguing. The summer course is fast-paced, but expectations were reasonable. The book helped, but wasn't necessary because he gives you insightful and valuable notes, and you can ace the exams/quizzes by STUDYING and understanding them.
Prof Neill is great & knows his stuff. Notes were sometimes easy to understand, sometimes not; effort outside of class is required, but this is a high-level class so it's to be expected. Strict no-electronics policy, he will take points away if he sees you with it. Can be rude if you ask ?'s. Extra credit offered. Study guides literally the exams.
This guy loves what he does AND IT SHOWS. His enthusiasm for the class can be infectious. Pay attention to his lectures because they show up in the quizzes and exams. He also offer extra credit. He's really particular about not having drinking bottles and electronics in class- to the point that he'll even confiscate if necessary.
Lectures are hard to follow in the moment but when you go over them, they make sense (& theyre not too long). Make sure to copy EVERYTHING on each slide (even small stuff!), if its not a test/quiz ?, itll probably be extra credit. He's very straight forward & provides plenty of resources for you to succeed. Put in effort for an A. Study guideexam.
only doing this because he gives students extra credit to make a rating on him that is why he has so many. Cliff is much better. Cliff for the win!
He is a super nice and very funny professor. He is a fair grader and you get study guides for every test. I would recommend him to other students
Professor Neill is very passionate about what he teaches and potrays that through his lectures. The class was fun and pretty easy. Youll receive an A or B if you turn in the homework and do the labs. Also, he gives great study guides that are basically like the test
This class is tough and you have to work for it, but if you put in effort you should be fine. Lectures are relatively short (take notes). Be prepared to ask questions during the labs or you will most likely be clueless later.
This class was intended for non-bio majors, and as an English major, I'd definitely recommend it. Professor Neill provides study guides and all the exams are pretty straight-forward. The labs tend to be very vague, so Google is your best friend for this class. Didn't use the textbook very much at all, only for the last project.
Professor Neill is a really good teacher. He explains everything when doing labs a helps students out if they have any questions. This is a good class to take if you have to take it for a requirement.
Professor Neill is a straight baller. He is pretty funny and provides all the necessary material to succeed in his class, including study guides that are very similiar to the exams. Gives out a decent amount of extra credit too. Pretty gnarly dude.
Lots of lectures. But we also do a lot of labs and some other assignments
Prof Neill is a really laid back guy. There are several quizzes and a few exams that are all relatively easy if you look over the study guides b/c the ?s are the exact same ones that will be on the exam. He grades the labs based on completion/ participation. A good choice + hes funny & there is so many extra credit options!
Neill is great professor makes lectures interesting with his funny humor. Also gives out extra credit opportunities that you all should take advantage of. He also hands out study guides for all exams as well.
Niel knows his stuff. Biology is fairly tough, and the class was long, but his periodical input of humor made it bearable. Labs are difficult, both to study for and to pass. Tests on the other hand are fairly easy but only if studied for. Overall, awesome teacher and would definitely take again.
Fun teacher who gives out plenty of extra credit opportunities to supplement your grade if you are willing to go out and get them. Also he provides very good study guides for those exams. Coming to class is mandatory as he does not upload any of the notes online and many of the exam questions are based on those notes. Lab practicals can be tough.
If you study and show up to take the notes you will pass with no problems.
Neill is a great teacher of biology and shows an obvious passion for it. Great teacher to take for 152
He is one of the few teachers I've had that kept class interesting at all times. He gives out study guides that help a lot and there's a few chances at extra credit. Make sure to take good notes from the powerpoints!
Proffesor Neill is very passionate about biology. Remember to pay attention to his lectures, he gives lots of extra credit opportunities on tests and out of class. Study guides provided are very similar to the exams. The hardest part of this class is the lab practicals. Studying for hours+ is the only way you will revieve a good grade on them.
Prof Neill is a great choice to take for Biology. He stresses the importance of learning the material and makes the class enjoyable. The amount of homework he gives is very reasonable. The memorization in class is heavy especially for the lab practicals, but the study guides he gives are very helpful. Attendance and interest in class are important.
If you show up to all of the lectures you won't need your textbook too much. When we use them in class usually as long as one person in your group has it you should be fine. He gives many extra credit opportunities throughout the semester, and if you pay attention during class you should do fine on the tests, there's no reason to not pass.
Prof Neill is great. Show up to class, take good notes, and do the study guides and you will pass no problem.
Professor Neill is very passionate about biology and it is apparent throughout the assignments and analyses of reports throughout the semester. Keep up with assignments, ask questions, and don't skip class and you will pass no problem.
Helps students a lot. His lectures are great, make sure to write notes. He gives extra credit. Great guy, funny, makes the class enjoyable. Make sure to show up to class. Ask questions, he is always willing to help. He loves Biology, so the class is not boring.
Great professor who keeps the lectures interesting with humor and some ideas and current events to think about. If you pay attention, take notes, and use the study guides then getting an A or a B should be no problem. He made a class I thought was going to be extremely boring interesting and simple.
Professor Neill is really cool. He keeps class entertaining and interactive. Study guides are basically identical to the tests, but make sure you pay attention to the lectures or you won't be able to fill out the study guides! If you give this class the proper attention, it can be really inspiring and make you appreciate the world around you.
Good Professor. Gives you study guides before the exam. You get a lot of extra credit opportunities as well.
Professor Neill is funny and creates his lectures with humor to keeps you focused. His study guides are helpful. Gives many extra credit opportunities. Would deffinalty recommend!
Professor Neill is a terrific professor who certainly wants his students to succeed. Good extra credit opportunities.
Mr Neill is very passionate about biology and really loves his plants! Gives study guides that are exactly the test. Practicals are harder, make sure you study! Don't expect class to end early. You really don't need the book, but its a nice tool to have. He let us have a lot of freedom when it came to labs and dissections- fun, great class!
Prof. Neill's class is a breath of fresh air. Not because it's an easy class! Prof. Neill gives you everything to succeed in the class, but you do have to work hard for your grade. The material can be dry, but the professor makes it interesting with different activities and watching documentaries, which are very fascinating. Glad to take his class!
Professor Neill will give all the resources to succeed in the class. His class is interactive and encourages to take notes because slides are not provided. Lectures are interesting and he is passionate about the material. Make sure to use all the resources provided (study guides for test and lab practicals) and make your own flashcards!
Prof. Neill is a passionate Bio Prof (which I appreciate). Suggests study methods for lab practicals and provides study guide for regular tests (broad but very helpful). Makes class interesting, answers questions and is understanding. Overall a good person and I would definitely take his class again. One of my fave profs on campus.
Tries to keep class entertaining. Participation is definitely important and while attendance isn't mandatory, he does give points for it. Do not take him if you don't have a good sense of humor or are easily offended by sarcasm.
Professor Neill is an amazing teacher; it's obvious that he is very passionate about what he teaches. He always makes class interesting and he is so funny! His study guides are exactly the test, he is very clear about what he expects on assignments and gives a lot of freedom when it comes to labs and dissections. Definitely take professor Neill!
Awesome professor! Loved having him this semester.
This is a good college class for non majors who are just out of high school.
Super great teacher who really just wants his students to do good. Always supplements lectures with interesting videos/real life applications of what we were learning. I never loathed lectures.
Professor Neill is a down to earth teacher, he cares for and respects all of his students. He is super funny and makes class interesting. He has a lot of extra credit opportunities and tells young exactly what you need to study for tests and quizzes! 10/10
He is a nice professor. He knows what he is talking about. The only thing is that the beginning of the semester is hard because you are basically teaching yourself through research. However, this class gets easier as the semester goes on. Very chill environment.
He makes biology so much easier to understand. His lectures go by fast, and he can be funny! I would recommend taking his class! If you study you will pass.
A very funny professor to take for Bio 151
He was an AMAZING professor! You need to show up to class, due to the lectures and labs he gives. If you do not you will be confused. His study guides are the exact version of the test. So DO the study guides.
The class is like any other biliogy class. But it is not an easy A. You will have to study for the test. Not study would likely get you a D or F. His lectures can get a little boring at times but he lightens the mood with some jokes. The class goes by really fast though. There are plenty of XC opportunities as well.
he is very easy going. As long as you do your work you will pass and pay attention. You do quiz's and test in class but again they are easy based on things that were talked about in class. He does offer extra credit in case you miss an assignment. such a dad type of professor.
He give some good feedback back when returning assignments. Lets you pick days of quizzes and exams to make sure youre prepared for them. He makes sure the class isnt boring.
A solid choice for any Bio class, the class was maybe too easy though.
I would say that Professor Neill is not on the easy spectrum of professors. He gives his class a lot of work, numerous exams and quizzes, labs that have to be done in class, so if you are not present that you don't get the points, the study guide questions are sometimes riddles and his sense of humor is a bit dry & almost a little offensive.
Prof Neill does a great job of explaining things and is willing to answer any questions you may have. Test is almost exactly like the study guide. Tough course but if you take notes and study you should pass.
All my years at JJC I have never met a teacher so unprofessional in my life. He gives lectures that have nothing to do with the exams and if your late to class he will announce it to the whole class, get ready to be embarrassed. I would not recommend choosing this professor.
Professor Neill is an kind and passionate teacher. Not only does he love what he does he is very involved with his students and wants them to succeed. He is very funny and his sense of humor is what makes the class enjoyable. The class itself is a typical bio class, attending lectures and doing labs is mandatory. But, Mr. Neill is why it's so fun.
Professor Neill deeply cares about what he is talking about, but whether that is a good thing or not is up to you to decide. Few tests, few quizzes, many long lectures. Easy to not pay attention if you are tired, but interesting if you to decide to pay attention. Easy class you will learn corresponding to the effort you choose to pay attention.
Really good at communicating what was expected throughout the semester. Most definitely would take this professor again. Tells you exactly what is gonna be on the test as well as the quizzes.
He is very nice and easy to talk to as a professor and if you read the book and take notes you should find the course to go well
His class isn't hard as long as you do the assignments and study for the tests, quizzes are pretty easy too. Just study when you can and you'll pass with a decent grade no problem
Professor Neill is a very good professor, he makes class very interesting. He always gives opportunities for extra credit. He prepares you well for every quiz and test, and is a very fair grader. Any chance you have to take one of his classes you should. Have had him for two different classes and would take more with him if I could.
Mr. Neill made science fun in BIO104! He does lecture a lot but it adds jokes in the lectures. And the projects are exciting.
Professor Neill is extremely passionate about plants! He is funny and tries his best to make class interesting and relatable for people who are non-majors. Show up to class to make sure you get points for the labs.
The exams in this class had some information that you had to search for but if you follow the syllabus and read the chapters that follow the classes, all the information is accessible. Theres a lot to cover in the course but mr Neill does a great job at covering whats important. He also cares about his students as long as they care. take him!
Mr Neill does a good job at relating to the bio and non bio majors. He relates the course with real life and covers the important things that we will carry with us beyond this class. If you care and put in work he will work with you. Highly recommended.
Prof. Neill did a great job at keeping everyone engaged. Although some lectures were boring, most were really interesting. He has a great sense of humor. I would take him again but he doesnt fit my schedule for next semester.
Great teacher would take again
Hes a good professor. Very passionate about environmental stuff so he makes it interesting
Good teacher and laid back.
Hes a great teacher. Very passionate about the environment. Keeps you engaged. I recommend taking him for bio146.
Great professor and his passion for the environment makes learning more meaningful. He also provides multiple extra credit opportunities in case you really need it but as long as you show up to class and take good notes you shouldn't have a problem keeping up to date.
Great teacher easy class!
I had so much fun taking this class. Professor Neill is very understanding if you cannot make it to class and will help you if need be. He truly does care about his students and will go out of his way to help. There is a lot of note taking but it all will help you in the end. He is funny and tries to keep things interesting for everyone.
Really good professor and makes you work hard but also helps you if need.
Professor Neill has a clear grading criteria and uses his goofiness to try and help students undersand the content. His powerpoints are really extensive, brief, and dont give a lot of informatio or detail. However, he made sure to let you know what to expect for the exam.
Provides extra credit and is passionate about the material. A fun class!
He's not respectful towards his students and is not clear when giving instructions or assigning homework. He would also make rude comments during class that were meant to be funny, but were disrespectful to not only me but other groups of people. Don't expect him to do ANYTHing for you other than give you a bad grade. Not a good teacher. sorry
Class started out in class but due to COVID we had to switch to online. Prof Neil was by far the hardest most inconsiderate teacher I have had. His humor isn't humorous. He centers the class off of a chapter book called "where the sky began" its boring. Liter made it impossible to pass this semester. He wasn't reasonable with the workload! NO GO!!!
First class with Neill, thoroughly enjoyed it despite being online. He made things straightforward, all you had to do was put in the work. Don't listen to those obscure negative reviews. What you put into this class Neill returns twofold. Big plant guy. He's a good man. I am grateful he exists.
I took Professor Neill during a 5 week summer course. He was very thorough on what was needed and expected for the course as well as very responsive to emails and questions. If you have any questions on homework or study material, he would set aside time to help/explain via video chat. You get the grade you deserve in this class.
Cares about students + loves his job. Will help if you have questions but doesn't directly answer them. His expectations are too high for this class. Gives exam on past material while also assigning multiple sections of new reading/notes, labs and write ups, all in one week. Hard to learn new material while testing on old material in the same week
Neill is the worst teacher I’ve ever had. He doesn’t teach in class, but instead makes you come to class to then watch all the lectures and notes at home. In class, he talks about random things that don’t even relate to class. Get ready to read the most boring book of your life also. Terrible teacher, not helpful, and the worst teacher ever.
Prepare to lose your mind. No topics are talked about in class that are on exams. Talks about random things. No help before exams. Read the worst book possible. Very boring, doesn’t respect his students time, and overall doesn’t teach. Everything is on you at home to do, even when in person. Means well, but cannot teach.
Maybe it's because I got him in his last semester teaching here, but he has completely checked out. His teaching method consists of welcoming you, reviewing work you've never seen before, doing heavily graded homework, attending unsupervised labs, and exams straight from he study guide. He expects you to listen to 2 hour audio lectures every night.
Clear organized weekly modules made the class very manageable. Some students complain too much lecture or not enough explained. Neill will explain everything and anything if you ask him too by email. Responds quickly to emails and is respectful. Online courses are challenging and student must be willing to commit the effort and time to do well.
Missed my first exam due to a misunderstanding: the syllabus said I was able to take the tests online or in testing services. Apparently we aren't allowed to take it online? After emailing him asking for help, he insulted me and said "missing an exam reveals much about your weak level of attention and perhaps commitment to this course." Im sad now.
This is the hardest class I have ever taken. He expects too much of the students, and the tests were impossible for me. There was an all open response test that was just a bunch of random numbers that you had to memorize- impossible! The lectures were confusing and I couldn't understand any of it. Do not take this class if you value your grade.
Worst teacher I have ever seen in my life. He is rude and can't figure out the online format of this class. He expects too much of students. All of the assignments are about a boring book, but the tests go over completely different material than the homework. Why assign homework if it doesn't have anything to do with the tests? Very sad :(
Very easy online course IF (and only if) you take the time to do the assignments + study guides. People are complaining about the exams, but Neill gives you a study guide that almost exactly mirrors each exam. Neill responds fast and gave me feedback on the self-guided study guides. Took me 2-3 hours per week and I easily passed. Great professor.
prof was quick to assume things about me after one email, including telling me that i was not fit for the class because i misunderstood the online format of the class. don't take this class if you want to learn about something other than grass.
This section of Bio146 was online. Like any other online class, I had to be organized and check the modules often. Prof Neill responds quickly to emails and is very kind and professional. His exams must be taken on campus, which was fine with me. Exams kinda tough, but easy because I studied using his study guides. Neill wants students to learn.
