If you show up and participate in class you will do well. The most homework you will have is to read a short story. Your grades are your papers, and he's very fair with the grading. I've heard some nightmare stories about the other 1102 professors...you can not go wrong with Andy!

Very easy class. Great teacher who explains his interpretations of poetry and stories very well. A lot of reading, but he's not very strict about it. No quizes unless your class is slacking on the reading too much. Two very easy tests & two relatively easy paper assignments.

Great instructor. Take him. Papers aren't too hard, reading is what it is. But we students need to understand, reading and writing is GOOD for us! His tests are very easy. His reading of prose and poetry leaves something to be desired but you'll learn, get a good grade if you want one, and he makes a potentially dull topic very interesting.

Mr. Rogers was great. Very laid back and helpful. Doesnt care about attendance. Four short papers and one research paper, but you can choose to write on whatever you want, and he grades really easily. Easy A. Highly recommended.

He is one of my favorite teachers. He likes dicussing a lot, which really inspires your potential writing skill. There are only few basic writing requirements to remember. He offers help and workshops a lot to help you write an interesting perfect paper! Dont miss your workshops! It might make him angry!

Andy was a great teacher who solidly believed in what he was teaching..... . .. well to a point. He was very helpful and exciting but teaches a kinda of boring subject. I would recomend him to anyone.

his test are easy, but he grades hard on the essay. This class is so boring that he makes you fall asleep.

Very nice guy, does not grade difficult at all. He does a review of what will be on the final and mid-term, they come straight from the review and are very easy. I made an A with not too much effort.

Very laid back. Can only have 6 absensces and he keeps you until the last minute. Need to write 4 short papers, a research paper. You choose what you write your papers on. You get 2 classes to workshop each of your papers with your classmates. The final is a prep for Regents. Very easy class!

Andy is a great teacher. He is very helpful and he doesn't mind you asking questions. I would highly recommend him. You are required to know the grammer rules and you will if you do not know them already. He will review the rules in class to make sure you know them by the time you leave. He's great.

He's a nice guy, and makes it easy to learn. He'll help you if you need it.

Uh, anyone who thinks this dude is prejudiced is an idiot...half his class were non-native speakers and no one got any lower than a B. Very sweet guy, very easy.

Dr. Rogers is an awesome Professor. He is there to help you. He wants all his students to get A's. He conducts workshops to give people an opportunity to improve their papers. Tough grader but He will make you a better writer.

Coolest prof. I've ever had. Class was very simple and to the point. I'm not that good with english, but I aced the class very effortlessly. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I can't say enough good things. There are those teachers who know exactly how to relate the subject manner in an easy to understand way--he tops them. No tests, only a few grammar quizzes which he'll fully prepare you for. You learn alot in this class without having to do much--a rare combo. If you're a half decent writer you should ace this class.

This was my third semester with this professor. He's a real bright, down to earth guy who makes the subject interesting. I can't say enough good things about him.

AWESOME ANDY! I loved this professor! Very laid back guy, and completely in tune with the students, current events, etc. I love literature so this subject came natural for me. 2 tests (midterm and final) 2 papers (short essay and research). TAKE NOTES during the discussion and for gosh sakes READ! Come to class and earn your A people!It's worth it!

Anyone that gave him a less than perfect rating doesnt deserve the honor of sitting in his class. He?s inspiring, intelligent, easygoing, helpful, and interesting. I took him 2X. He?s responsive, fluent on current events, and a beautiful person. I could not imagine a better teacher. There are easier teachers, but this one is my favorite so far.

I am really enjoying this professor. He is so kind and funny. He is very intelligent and up to date on everything going on in the world. I love his example sentences the most. Kinda makes you wonder what is going on inside his mind. So far, I have an A in his class. Am taking him again for 1102. I highly recommend him.

Kick ass teacher. Attend class even though attendance is not required because he gives Pop Quizzes. 5 papers, 1 research paper, several quizzes and the final. Overall a nice experience and recommended. I will be taking his 1102 class.

I love this class! Although attendance is not mandatory, he makes it so through pop quizzes. However, he usually warns you about them the day before. I love his example sentences. Workshops on papers are also very useful. He makes it so you shouldn't get less than a B on a paper if you came to class and participated on the workshops. Great teacher!

Andy is very funny, he has a sarcastic since of humour. The example sentences that he used for grammar were very funny. He's very intelligent (he could learn a lot from him tha). Kind of anal but very helpful...if you've worked your hardest on a paper your grade will definitely reflect that! Esp. if you're good at writing, his class will be easy.

Dr. Rogers is an amazing teacher. I really enjoyed his class!! He is so funny and really intellegent! If you come to class and work hard on your papers you will do fine! He seems to really care about his students and he will make you a better writer!

He loves class discussions and likes hearing our opinion which is great, and the stories we read are all very interesting. Papers are the main grade and with the workshops you shouldn't fail! I am taking him 1101 now and for 1102 next semester. GREAT TEACHER!

Awesome! Let's you have your own opinion as long as you can back it up. Grade is mainly papers. We always workshop the class before they are due. Book is necessary because we read from it each class. He checks whether or not you read before we discuss it with quizzes. I learned a lot and will take him again.

This guy is flat out awesome. I took him for 1101, 1102 and 2112 (3 straight semesters). He cares for his students and is the best all around teacher I have ever have. You will love this guy!!

He Is the best..No Tests..Only 4Essays and one research paper...

Teacher is not hard. English is my second language so i got B in his class. Had several essays, 1 research paper for 5 pages double spaced. Not a big deal. His workshops are annoying though...

Very nice teacher. He has a great way of instructing without being condescending. Class would be great if he lectured more but there are too many workshop sessions. I did not benefit at all from working with the other students so there was a lot of wasted time. He was too lax on effort and attendance so the class was usually a drag.

I have English as a second language and I got A's on all my essay i realy hate essay i don't like research paper and i was proud of myself in his class. If you want a B or higher this is your Guy just do you essays and stress free.

he's too cool, laid back ,funny , with a great sense of humour, stress free class, he never gives low grade than C. he never fails anyone, you have to do your paper DUHH,take him ,his class is worth it .

Cool teacher, with a great attitude. Very intelligent, and as long as you do the assigned work you will get a good grade. Follow directions and you should at least get a B. Try harder get an A. He doesn't play games that average teachers do. He also isn't very challenging. So if you have other things in life to do take him and just do what he asks.

He is the best English teacher. He is a loose grader. What else do you want if you take more than 15 credit hours? He explains things clearly and intelligently. He also teaches some basic grammar that you might need in order to expand your sentences. :) TAKE HIM!!!!!!! Classes will be full if you register late!!!

BEST TEACHER AT GPC HANDS DOWN!!! He is my favourite teacher that I have had at gpc. His quizzes are VERY reasonable, and there are few of them. Very easy grader for papers, but you still have to try. He will notice if you don't try. Very clear directions and he can relate to students very well. Great sense of humor. I wish he taught more classes!!

Let me start off by saying I am a math person who despises English courses. I loved this class. He said once in class that the laziest thing that you can do is to just go to class and that is definitely the case. There was a lot of reading but almost all short stories, 2 papers, and 2 tests. Just go to class and you should do relatively well.

American Lit: Easy to understand, relates to present day and will aid you in writing your paper. If you don't pass his class - you should not be in school.

Would definitely recommend. Picked great stories to read and made you think about them. Always willing to help when needed. Graded very fair on essays and tests only cover what you talk about in class. Brought a lot of non-lit knowledge to class as well.

I loved the readings especially Fences! i learned an entire new way to actually read stories and poems. He really requires participation and gives 20% for participation! I really enjoyed this class and hated writing the papers. I wish he taught another English class.

This teacher really provokes thought is a wonderful teacher. I plan on taking him for all of my English courses. Very easy class if you just use common sense and do your writing assignments; which by the way, there is only 4 including a research paper that is %20 of your grade. Rogers is hilarious too. Sarcastic humor, love it. Highly recommended.

I really liked Mr Rogers; take his class and you will end up learning something. His classes are relaxed but you need to participate. It seemed to be reluctant to give me an A when he gave A's to students with same quality papers. You can expect that to happened over a couple of punctuation mistakes or r improper used words

I’ve taken Dr. Rogers twice and I guarantee bad reviews are from barely literate slackers who crappy papers. Dr. Rogers is awesome! I wish I could take him for more stuff. He is extremely laid back & there is no reason to get a bad grade in his class unless you are an idiot. He is a brilliant man, also funny & cool as hell. Highly recommended.

Yes he expects you to read the text, but thats what makes the class interesting, and texts that are required to read are short stories so no excuses. Super easy to read but really make you think and his class discussions can teach you a lot about life. I have a whole different perspective on life after taking his class. DO RECOMMEND :)

I loved taking world lit with this man- as previously mentioned, you should absolutely read the literature. Every class however, was a discussion about the literature that was interesting, eye-opening, and memorable. it was the only class i looked forward to! Not too many assignments, just a couple papersexams. He's friendly, laid-back, and funny!

I never looked forward to a Lit class because English is not my interest. Took this class out of necessity and I was surprised that I loved it. Dr. Rogers is very straightforward, engaging and makes literature easy to understand. One of my fave professors !

I usually do no give feed back, but I had to for this teacher. I have always dreaded Language Arts, but this professor actually made the class intriguing, he teaches you so many different ways of interpreting stories and poems. He also spends a great amount of time explaining until he feels the class fully understands the concept at hand.

One of the best teachers I have had, I took him for two language art classes. He puts everything into a different perspective! He is very blunt, funny at times, and is willing to help you out! He changed my understanding on a lot of philosophies. Take him :)
