Always late to class...seems to get stuck in traffic coming from his commune in Dekalb County...great discussions, very helpful if you need ideas for papers...grading scale is great (there isn't one) Take Andy if at all possible!!!

Very odd. Likes to talk about government and religion. Easy if you like a lot of work. Quizes simple but reading is long. Take Andy if you really like to write and revise.

Great class. Liberally biased, but encourages disagreement... Get's passionate during often political/social dissussions. Grading is fair, assignments aren't painfull. I would suggest over alternatives. GO TO FREQUENT CONFERENCES!

A little strange, but a great teacher. He really makes you think about the topics you are writing about.

This man is extremely passionate about life and he tries to empower all of his students. Debate is used on all topics, but he demands that we leave disagreement at the door when we leave. He exuberates enthusiasm! I learned much.

Apart from needing to shower more often, andy is a great guy. Act like you care, put a little effort into the papers and you'll be fine.

Fantastic professor, would retake for any subject. You will like class if you enjoy discussion type classes. You will write 4 papers and revise 2 of them. Not tough, just participate and TRY and you should make a B at least.

he has an awesome grading system. He lets you decide what grade you want,but you have to work at it. He injects alot of political crap into class though and he is really liberal. but overall very helpful.

Fun Class, Fairly simple to get a good grade in his class as long as you put some effort into it. He loves talking about politics and he is very liberal. If you hate politics, this isnt the class for you.

Mr. Andy is a great teacher, though his views are a bit skewed. He's very open to discussion and different opinions. He's very passionate about writing, consequently, that makes him very picky. Work hard and you will do well in his class, if you are a good writer.

4 papers, only 2 grades, midterm and final. As many revisions as needed. Very helpful when you need him, dont expet him to tell you what he wants. He definitly wants you to think. He is very liberal but is very funny at times. Every project is different and asks for a different point of view

Very liberal, but respects other's opinions as long as you have decent reasoning. More interested in what you write about and how you convice / defend it than the grammar. If you have grammar problems make sure you have a friend go over your papers. If writing comes easily to you, then you'll have no problem here.

Let's just say...amazing. I have never had a instructor make me think as much as he did. I love his teaching methods and he encourages everyone to express their position on an issue, despite if one is within the majority. Only one downfall...clarity!!! But that itself is one method that I feel he loves to use. Great prof. Take Him!

Andy's a great professor. He really knows his stuff. He takes 2 grades over the semester - your midterm and your final. Don't expect an easy A though. An A requires not only perfection in grammar and mechanics, but an original thought or idea.

He is a wonderful teacher. If you get to know him, ask questions, and listen in class you will get a better understading of what he wants out of your writing. By any means this class will take hard work, but in the end it pays off because you will feel more confident in your writing and most of all know how to write efficently.

This is a great class and alot of fun.He lets you be creative with your writing.He is alot of fun.He takes time to meet with you to help you on your papers.The homework and classwork isn't hard.All you have to do practically is write 4 papers.This is a great class.I recomend it to everyone.He is a great techer too.Take this class definetly!

Crazy hippy but open to all views. Definitely knows what writing's all about. Can sometimes be a little bias when grading if your values differ from his.

He tries so hard to help you get the grade you want. Mr. Andy constantly is energetic with his job and love of writing. Best english teacher I have had.

Andy is the best English teacher I have ever had! He is very helpful and lets you rewrite all your papers until you get the grade you want. Big on class discussion but he makes it fun! Easy A and don't be afraid to get into a debate! TAKE HIS CLASS!!

I liked Mr. Andy a lot, he was easy to talk to. The only problem I had with him was that I think when he gets mad he takes it out on everyone. But he will help you as much as you want with your papers, and you get many many many chances to do them over. He is a very interesting person, and I think he really cares about his students.

Easy class if you aren't the lazy type. His teaching style is good and he creates a good atmosphere for learning. Unfortuately, there are often many people taking this class who expect to be spoon fed like a newborn. To those I would say welcome to college, either shape up or ship out...your mama's not here!

I love Mr. Andy! True, he expects a LOT from you, but he will help you if you just ask him! He is very encouraging, and his class is very interesting. One of my all time fave professors at tech.

As an art major I harbor a certain level of contept for core classes. Mr Andy's class was the one required class I've had to take that wasn't a waste of my time. The class wasn't easy, but you had endless chances to revise your final portfolio for a better grade. If you're willing to put effort into a workshop type class Andy is the man for you.

Andy was a great professor. Unfortunately those who are lazy and have coasted through school because they were "likeable" may have some problems because Andy treats all his students equally and fair. Do not expect special treatment but get ready for a class that will open your mind and isn't too hard or require many late nights. Enjoy!!

Oh my gosh...touching, generous, brilliant human being! Honestly, Mr.Andy has been my favorite professor thus far. He was selfless and always willing to give up his free time to help his students. I dreaded the class from the beginning, but was surprisingly overwhelmed with desire to be involved in the class and our discussions.

Mr. Andy is a really fun and interesting guy. He is very helpful and not really hard. If you do your homework and essays, you should come out with a good grade.

Mr. Andy is a great teacher. He expects you to do work and schedule conferences, but as long as you do that you are guaranteed a good grade.

He is fair enough with grading the paper but if you keep on rivising it you might pull your grade up to A or B. Mostly you would do the essay on the current topics Ex. we had to do all the semester about the current political issue. No quizes No tests and only you do is few time homework. Good but only if your perfect in writting the essay.

Pretty easy class, but final grade is given almost completely from your final portfolio which has to be perfect. Get on his good side, talk about music.

Mr. Andy is a fun teacher!!! I really enjoyed his class. Does not focus on the boring old literature. Very unique literature class. Blogs required once every week or 2. One major essay, plenty of chances to revise. Take home final. LOTS OF CHANCES FOR EXTRA CREDIT! If you're looking for a fun Lit class... TAKE HIM!

If you are willing to put forth the effort Mr. Andy is a good teacher. You write 4 papers and turn 2 in for your final grade. I'm not good at English and came out with an A. Just show him you are trying and he will reward you.

he's a really good teacher. if you get the chance to take a lit class by him, do it. no tests or quizzes. but do the work he assigns. also don't be afraid to share your opinion in class. he really prefers that you do. plus you can earn extra credit that way...or you don't lose credit anyway. excellent prof.

I was afraid to take a class from this guy because we had different views on things, but the way he conducted his freedom of speech never made me feel belittled. he actually encouraged me to write on things he didn't agree on, which freed me up from having to impress his standards and write for the sake of writing :)

If you don't understand something or need help THEN ASK FOR IT!! He will meet with you as many times as you want! (and even encourages it!) He expects students to be responsible and do their work. He gives plenty of chances for extra credit. Most of all he is still inspired by and inspiring to his students. Unique and challenging ideas welcome!

I am not a lit major and therefore was not very motivated or interested, but the works he chose for us to read were very interesting and enlightening. The class was very discussion oriented, ad participation was strongly encouraged. Shy people could still succeed if they wrote insightful reader response blogs online.

great teacher inventive style

Andy is probably the most interesting writing professor at Tech. He genuinely loves what he does, and he loves to hear a diversity of opinions. Don't take anyone else for writing. Not a course you can skip though; you must attend class and do all the assignments. But with Andy, class is actually enjoyable and you'll want to go.

I enjoyed this class a lot. The enviornment is laid back and fun. He makes it fun to write and often times lets you chose what you want to write. He also encourages you to set up appointments to meet with him so he can help you with your papers. Very good proffesor.

I really enjoyed this class from the start. He made the assignments interactive and he made the assignments clear to understand. I would reccomend anyone to take this class, really cool teacher and the final is turning in two papers that you have already done. All you have to do is revise and edit.

Everything we did in this class was based around Pop Culture. It was cool to get away from the typical stuff we get in English classes. He is a great professor, and will work with you on papers and projects! Take if you can

Mr. Andy is a whacked out guy, but he will help you out to pass this class...all you have to do for a C is show up and do some work...kinda hard for an A, but still a must take class..never boring and he'll help you alot

Mr. Andy Golden Rule: show up in class and do all of your assigned work. That's basically it. Mr. Andy loves it when you get in-your-face argumentative in papers, so pick topics you care about. Mr. Andy's a good teacher and devoted to his class - if you you fail, it's because you went out of your way to.

Mr. Andy was a great professor. His main requirements are due all your requirered work and SHOW UP TO CLASS. He was very helpful to the whole class, and if you put in a little effort an A or B will be garenteed.

He's good at keeping his students interested and active in the community. If you just listen and take direction he isn't that hard.

I hade him for both English 1010 and 1020. He is very helpful and passionate about what he does. The main thing you need to do is come to class, and let him know that you're interested in what you are doing.

Andy is easy and very helpful. As long as you do the work an trn it in on time the lowest grade you can get is a C. You do a lot of writing but you will learn a ton from him. Highly suggest Andy because the knowledge is priceless.

I had him for 1010 and 1020, and you have to come to class and write all the blogs. But it isn't hard at all. Just do your work and you will be fine. He helps you with your papers to make sure they are the best they can be. The only grade you have is your portfolio that has 2 papers in it. Good teacher, I recommend him!

I had Andy Smith for English 1010 and 1020, and I had a blast. If you get in a class with good people, you'll have fun! Work hard, and act like your life revolves around this class, revise essays and you will get an A. DEFINITELY sign up for voluntary workshops!

I took Andy for English 1010, 1020, and American Literature. Just do all the mandatory work(blogs and discussion posts) and meet with him every so often for a paper. If you can hold a conversation with someone, you can coax your way straight into an A. Great instruction for each assignment as well.

As an engineering major, I was dreading lit. Andy Smith really made it enjoyable! It was totally worth getting up for an 8 am 3 days a week just to go to his class. As long as you do the required blogs and put forth some effort you'll get an A. TAKE HIM!!

one of the few teachers at tech who made class interesting and actually wanting to attend class. all you have to do is two papers and write some blogs/discussions and a poem. he gives a lot of extra credit too, i made a 104 in his class! I'd recommend him for any english class

Excellent professor. Easy class, but if you put time and effort into it, you'll learn and grow a lot. Andy is out there, but I have grown a lot because of him. Super helpful and friendly.

Andy is a great professor. He is passionate about what he does and makes the course interesting. You do have to read books.

I took him for World Lit and it was an easy A class, he even says so himself. Just show up, do the discussions and blogs, and the quizzes are easy. No tests. The midterm and final are either blogs or a project. He is a super cool guy and is really passionate about what he does. Also, offers extra credit. Provides coffee during class. 10/10
