Mrs. Jones is the best math teacher I've ever had. She is extremely fluent when she is teaching and answering questions, which she does very well. I went to her office a couple of times for help, and I always left with a sincere understanding of the material. She also has a good sense of humor. Akron needs more professors like her.
Mrs. Jones is a very nice person, but only an okay teacher. In her defense, it was her first time teaching calcII and she was going through personal issues at the time. She seemed to truly care about teaching, but she did not emphasize and ensure understanding of some of the more important concepts of calculus.

Took class over short summer session. Lots of material to cram into three classes a week. Difficult stuff but Ms. Jones recognized that and did her best to make sure that her class was as prepared as possible for each test. She provided review sessions before each test and was available to help in most cases.
The best proffesor i ever had.She explains and takes time for every student if nessesary. She really whants the students to understand the class. I wished all my professors where like her
She does not seem like she knows how to teach this material. I do not think she has cracked open a Calc 2 book prior to teaching this class. Your best bet is to read the book. I read the book before each test/quiz and am getting a B average. Conclusion, if you want a teacher that knows what they are doing, do not take her.
all of these comments are misleading. anedra is a very nice person, but just because she's nice doesn't mean she can teach calculus. our class average was <60%. she does offer 30 EC points, but that's if you have the time to do every problem in the homework. if you havent taken calculus before AVOID HER
does not teach material, only incorectly copies from the text book. give test that there is not enough time in the class to take. she is by far the worst teacher i have ever had in my entire life. she also missed many classes because she said her duaghter had pink eye over 4 times in one semester.
Makes calc way tougher than it should be.If you have never taken calc 1 before, then do not get her.Almost all her tests are curved since the tests are long and pretty tough. Its best to take her only if you have taken calc 1 before.
She was the worse teacher ever. She would give test over stuff she never covered. She canceled class regularly, and was always 9 min late to classevery day, even test days. She would always go over aswell. She was even 7 min late to the fnal. I loved math before i had her now i hate it! Her test are so complicated it was almost impossible to finish
Terrible class...changed my major and dropped the class. When i handed her my drop form she looked at me put her finger and her thunb in the shape on an "L" on her forehead and called me loser! NEVER EVER TAKE A CLASS TAUGHT BY HER!!!
Smoking hot, but can't teach. Whatever you do, SIT ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROOM! I made the mistake of sitting on the left side and I could never read the board because she would always stand right in front of the board. Her tests are really hard. Be sure you do more than the required problems. She would make a good bartender.
Fairly easy, pay attention and take notes, she is learning the class while you are, not very helpful
I had Ms. Jones for her 1st calc 1 class at Akron - her tests were hard, and some of the were too long to finish, but the final was a totally fair test over the material. I went for help quite a bit, and she always helped me with a smile. She really does want to see her students succeed.
Ms. Jones loves teaching. She has reasonable test and if she finds that they may have been to hard she curves them accordingly. If you go to her office hours she is determined to help you. Do the extra credit to improve your grade and skills.
Our first test had to be curved by about 25 points, so I would not call them "reasonable". She doesn't curve until the end of the class, so you never really know what your grade is. The average in my class right now is a D. She is pretty nice though and will give you help if you need it. Doesn't tell you what will be on tests, quizzes, etc.
She Loves Teaching. She will help you until you get it. She gives extra credit and curves to boost you grade. Who ever gets the highest grade is set as 100. EX: 89 was 100 on one test. I tried to take calc 4 times before, one of those class was Dr. Raber who was going to give me a D. In her class I got 115%. And I hate all math. Now I like it!
Mrs. Jones is my favorite math teacher I've ever had by far. She explains everything and if you don't understand, tell her and she'll explain it a different way. Yes her tests are challenging but she gives partial credit for everything. Jones genuinely loves to teach and always has a smile on her face. I love Math now!!
She has to be the absolute best math teacher I have ever had! You can tell that she loves to teach. She doesn't have that dry, red eyes personality...shes extremely funny and insightful. Yes, her test are a little hard, but she has two different review sessions and she curves in the end. She will also drop the 2 lowest hw and quizes. Great teacher.
Good teacher, knows the material. Late a lot,but i had her in the early morning. If your taking higher Math Courses she knows the best to take, all you have to do is ask. Test are fair and she drops one then curves the class. Funny person. I recommend her.
Worst Math Professor I've ever had. Doesn't care if students understand the material, only cares if you can regurgitate her definition. Doesn't know her material. Walked out on class and told us to ask our neighbor if confused because she couldn't explain method. Rigid on tests, the ? is right or wrong. 1st day is cool; Day 2 welcome to hell.
Prof Jones is a very smart and energetic teacher. She is very unorganized, though, so don't expect your grades for about 2 weeks from turning in homework, test, quiz. She is very helpful, but sometimes can rush through answers, leaving you staring doe-eyed.
always late to class, doesn't know material - i have lost count of how many notes i have had to scribble out and redo because the next class she realized she did it wrong. grades extremely slow, dont expect anything for at least 2 wks rushed through the last 5 sections in the book not caring if anyone understood. worst calc prof ever
Very energetic and entertaining. She loves to do little dances and sing occasionally. I enjoyed her class. She is very personable and easygoing.
Ms. Jones was an energetic, upbeat professor. She came to class with a good attitude and would answer any and all questions the class had. If you actually do her suggested problems, and not just the required ones, you will do well in this class. I never took PreCalc, but i paid attention and did the HW and i got an A. Her explanations were clear.
Ms. Jones's class is pretty easy. She is VERY energetic & tries to get the class excited as well. She definitely loves math & loves teaching. She's willing to answer all your questions. Tests & quizzes come right off of activities/homeworks. She's really nice, defnitely reccommend her.
She was a cool teacher. She's was always upbeat even though everyone in my class was pretty bland. Always willing to meet during office hours.
Ms. Jones was always available for office hours. Was very thorough walking through each concept she taught step by step. If you do the homework problems the same night it helps ALOT. Great review sheets given for tests. Curves for fairness.
This teacher loves to teach and is determined to make sure you understand it. She helps alot during office hours. She is organized and her tests are fair. She is energetic and fun. Work hard and do the extra credit and you will know calc!! I got an A!
Jones rushed through all the material just to get it done. Ignored helpful suggestions from students. Derived straight from the book and seemed to not know how to help witout directly quoting the book. Tests had nothing to do with any material covered in class. Most problems on tests were all challenge problems. Unfriendly in her office.
She is enthusiastic and teaches well, but goes really fast. The tests weren't much like the homework or quizes. The homework is moderately difficult, and quizes are ridiculously easy. They saved my grade. She is on a tight schedule, but she will help you a lot if you take the initiative.
She was enthusiastic when teaching, but the tests didn't match what we covered in class. In addition, she didn't respond to students questions well. I wouldn't recommend her.
A very tough teacher. Her quizes were decent but her tests were super hard! I would study for hours and still not do well on them. We did online hw and some of the problems she did not know the answers to...
She knows the material well, but doesn't seem to understand that students coming into the class do not. She is very moody and gets frustrated when asked questions. Their is a lot of homework and her tests are very difficult. She rushes through everything just to get it done and teaches like a drone straight from the book. I would NOT recommend her.
Rushes through class. Avoided a problem from homework, because answer wasn't in the book. If you sit on the left part of the room, she will block the board with her back. Tests also make no sense. Showed it to a upper class-man in my dorm and he laughed at the inconsistency of her grading. Avoid this class if you are serious about collage.
She is honestly a horrible teacher. She knows what she's doing but will make you feel stupid when you ask a question. Tests are super hard. If you can drop her class and find a different professor
She was awful. I absolutely dreaded going to this class, and I use to like math. You would see material NEVER covered in class on the tests which were really hard and she would make you feel really bad/dumb for asking questions. She rushes through the entire class and doesn't really care if students have a good understanding of material. Avoid her!
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Shes got attitude. Teaching style is primitive. Does not help with individual problems at all. Takes lifetimes to grade. Nothing as far as partial credit. Tests are abnormally hard. Always rushing everything. No concern for the students well being. In my opinion she should go back to teaching highschool.
Takes 2 weeks to grade tests. Makes you feel bad for asking questions, and doesn't explain problems fully. Rushes through class. When I went to her office hours for help, she wasn't there. No partial credit, must do HW. Do not recommend Ms. Jones.
worst professor at akron hands down. takes forever to grade anything, gets rude when you ask questions in class on hw, quizes and tests are impossible and she herself doesnt know most of the material. do NOT take or your life will be hell and wind up retaking the class. akron needs to fire her asap
A very energetic woman who seems to know the material well but does not seem to know how to explain herself well. I had no idea how my grades were because she took forever to grade them. She often got upset when someone would asked her a question about the homework or notes. Only explaining by using one method. HERS. AVOID TAKING HER.
Honestly, she's a good professor. She's always engaged and interesting. Things were exlpained well in-class and if I ever needed help, I was at her office during her hours. Her tests are very similar to HW and in-class examples. If you ask questions and go to office hours and ACT like you care, you'll be fine. I'll recommend her; kept me motivated.
She told us that in the past her final exam was curved because everyone did so horrible on it, well it wasn't, she rushed through everything the entire semester and no one knew what they were doing. I think only about 10% of the class passed with a c- or higher. Do not take her unless you want to teach yourself everything!
She is horrible. She is a nice person, and she is funny, but cannot teach. She got mad the other day when a girl corrected her on a mistake she made, and she forgets the terms of what we are doing all the time. How are we supposed to learn when the teacher doesn't even teach properly? Take someone else please.
She is a terrible teacher who goes through the notes too quickly and doesn't explain things well. Tests are very difficult and I wouldn't recommend anyone to take her class.
It was alot of learning from the book on my own. teaches basics and expects advanced answers on tests. dont expect a curve. Theres hardly any time to finish either, so dont expect to check your answers. She gives tons of hw and only grades 5 so your grade depends on random accuracy. Only perk is the quizes are normally hw problems.
Horrible teacher. Gave a ridiculous amount of homework and only graded 5 random problems from it. Unapproachable and condescending attitude. Exams were near impossible even with days of studying and she never gives partial credit. Class average was an F and almost everyone had taken and failed her at least once before. Save yourself the stress
Very hard to pass this class. I made sure to get her help on questions when I needed it but when the tests come they're nearly impossible to pass unless you've spent all weekend with your nose in your textbook. Doesn't curve things. Hardly anyone passed in my section.
Very vague instructor. Does not explain topics well at all. Rushes ahead to the next topic before adequately teaching the previous material.
Taking her class currently and she has taught me nothing from the second i stepped into the class up to now. The only thing I've learned is from what I managed to teach myself. The class exam average was a 54%. She takes attendance in a 70+ lecture class and the lectures are annoying and repetitive. Save yourself the trouble and don't take her.
The hardest teacher ever in my life. She gets annoyed the fact that we ask questions. Her testes are hard and if you end up taking her good luck, because you are going to be taking that same class next semester.
She was relatively clear and concise, and understands the material better than most professors. She seemed to be a very intelligent individual and was actually intrigued by math and had fun teaching which made the lectures very entertaining and easy to listen to.
Tough to finish exams. Yells at students for mistakes the class as a whole makes on any assessments turned in. Homework is never turned in.
She rushes through material, and then when a student asks a question she is very condescending and rude. When students miss a question on a quiz, or test she makes the entire class seem stupid. I tried approaching her in her office hours, and she told me to read my notes because I should just understand it. I've never had such an awful teacher.
At first, everything was fine. She ran through some material I already knew, so I was prepared, until the new stuff came along. She rushes through everything, always saying - I should have mentioned this in the last section. Homework takes more time because you teach yourself, and most people fail. See a tutor everyday if you have her.
Do not take her for this class! If you want help she will raise her voice and make you feel dumb! Extremely hard to follow in lectures. Does not care if you know criteria and continues onto new material knowing the class is beyond lost. If you can, find another professor. Very tough grader and she has a 70% fail rate. Yikes!!!
She's always making mistakes and even though she hates calculators, she uses them in class. Ive taken Calculus before and what she expects is nothing like what I was taught in high school. She flys through notes and never takes real time to help students in need. Find a tutor if you get stuck with her because you have to teach yourself 2 understand
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!! She cannot teach, I barely passed her class with a C+, but most people I took the class with failed. She never covered much of the information on tests and finals and we were expected to learn the material ourselves. She also assigns ridiculous amounts of homework, and pretty much refuses to help if you don't understand.
She insulted students for not knowing information, offered office hours but when you attended she suggests looking over your notes again. Unclear in class. The three test averages this last semester were a 48%, a 52%, and a 51%. She curves by taking the average of the three test scores and adjusting each test to the curve. Average is a 74%.
She is very rude to students who need help, she says she'll be in her office but then she is never there during those hours. Her tests are completely different than what she teaches in class and does not give you full credit for the problem even if you get it right but you do not have HER way of finding the solution. She covers material very fast.
All 3 test averages were D or below. She would spend class time answering homework questions, then rush through lectures. Kept pushing back one of the tests, so it ended up having have of the semester's sections covered. Would get angry at low test and quiz grades and raise her voice at the class.
Worst math professor i have ever had. I am one of the students struggling in her class and when i asked for help and told her my problems she said "Stop emailing me and complaining, and use that time creatively to do something like study" VERY VERY unhelpful and rude. Test and quiz prep worksheets are nothing like actual exams and quizzes
She doesn't teach the lecture right, I learned nothing from her. I have to go to the math lab at least twice a week for help. There's a quiz every week and so far I've taken 2 tests in which I have D's in both. I do not recommend her to anybody.
does not ask for questions and if someone asks a question, she doesn't answer it right. She'll just repeat what she just did and ask if that makes sense. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HER. she doesn't give the class a chance to work on the problems their own, she does it for everyone so the homework is hard because you don't know what you're doing
Attendance is mandatory. Whenever a student asks a question, she yells the at them and tells them to write it down and figure it out later. She is not very helpful. She also thinks everyone should understand what she is saying.
The entire class is her writing examples on the board. She faces the board the entire time and speaks and writes very quickly, rarely explaining herself. Never raise your hand because she will be very rude and embarrass you. Says she does not have time for questions. Practice worksheets and homework are very unlike quizzes and tests.
People say she moves too fast, but I think that's only if you're not willing to apply yourself and learn the material. Her explanations are clear, even if they are fast-paced. She's quite funny when she wants to be, so it's not difficult to stay engaged. She can get frustrated when students talk during class, so just try to stay on her good side.
Prob wouldn't recommend for higher math classes, but for College Algebra she was fine. It's all just a review of high school algebra, so her style of quickly going through examples on the board is fine since the content is familiar. She is very peppy and organized. She was okay with answering questions unless we were short on time.
Rushes you through quizzes and tests have too many questions for the time allowed. Test averages were 50,50,48 and she makes it seem as if the class just is dumb not the fact that she did an awful job of teaching. She curves the test averages to a 70 so her class isn't hard to pass but difficult to do well in.
She admitted that she makes the tests and quizzes harder than the final and homework. ask questions, she'll make it even more confusing. She is a very nice lady and intelligent but when it comes to teaching I would not recommend. Doing the bare minimum will not get you far, tutoring will get you a C to D range. This is my first bad grade in math.
Very loud teacher, makes the amount of work she gives you into a joke as if she enjoys it. very irritating woman
You can't miss class because she works the entire period covering a ton of material (and theres a sign in). Discrepancies on lecture material, homework material, and quiz material. Quiz every week. Follows syllabus, not too much homework. Ask questions in class if you're struggling or go to her office hours. Don't be afraid to talk to her.
Delivers way too much material in one lecture. She is not good at explaining or delivering the material to students. Very fast paced. Also, has an attitude and is rude if you need help in something she expects you to already know. This class is a lot of work, and she does not make it any easier or enjoyable.
Honestly, the worst professor on this campus. Hardly explains anything and refuses to answer questions in class. Quizzes every week, and yes that includes the day before thanksgiving. Would never recommend her. Be wise and pick someone else.
GO TO CLASS. IF YOU DONT YOU WILL NOT PASS THE CLASS.
Worst professor I've ever had. Flies through examples without thoroughly explaining key concepts. Always has an attitude. If you have a question, you get an attitude, are made to feel stupid, and told to go to office hours. The only reason I passed was from spending hours teaching myself the material. Do yourself a favor and find another professor!
This class isn't terrible if you keep working at it and try. I think she means well and is actually very humorous. But there is no way you can slack off in this course you really have to work at it to get the grade you want! You have to show up and pay attention to the lectures and you will do well!
I enjoyed taking her class, but she didn't really take much time to explain things to people who clearly didn't understand what was going on. If you have a hard time with math, definitely not a great fit. For a math major like me though, it worked out pretty well.
I've had Ms. Jones for Bus. Calc twice. I had to withdraw the first time because the material was difficult especially since I had never taken a calc class before. She moves very quickly and doesn't like to proven wrong. She gets very fussy if you tend to ask the same questions over and over. If you find yourself failing every quiz, please drop.
The worst professor I have ever had. She is never clear about her lectures and will absolutely not take the time to help you out if you are struggling. Her jokes are NOT funny she tries to make other students laugh at the expense of another student. Her quizzes and her homework's do not line up at all. The grading on tests and quizzes is not clear
She has a big quirky personality. You can tell she cares about here students because she will sometimes allow you to turn in homework late as long as you have a good reason. She is reasonable and understands that you are not perfect. Although, she is a tough grade she does give little curves here and there to help you out because precalc is tough.
This is by far the worst teacher I've ever had. Not only do none of the students understand what's going on, but she doesn't either. So much so I find her googling how to do problems on the board...
Straight up BUNS. Worst teacher I have ever had in my life. She flies through lessons at the speed of light. Her method of teaching is going through 30 examples per class as quickly as possible. Makes everything so much harder than it has to be. If you are not amazing at math, do yourself a favor and do NOT take her.
Horrible Professor! She doesnt email back. She always has an attitude & isnt clear about her grading process. She changes stuff in the syllabus constantly and expects you to keep up with it. Worst math professor ever. DONT TAKE HER
One of the worst profs I've ever had. Gives only youtube videos to learn from, when asked for help suggests more youtube videos, DOES NOT DO HER JOB. Unclear w/ expectations & grades every little thing. I suggest following syllabus & looking at your grades & seeing what she grades bc there are a ton of 2pt things that she doesnt tell you are graded
online Alg for Calc. Shes 50/50 on responding to your emails. I emailed her about a late assignment, she replied, and while it was looking like she would reopen it, she never got back. The online course consists of all videos and a Friday quiz. She has a optional zoom lecture but nothing mandatory. If you miss anything its hard to get a good grade
She's hard. She is VERY picky with her grading. I often got the answer correct, but she took points off for some of the work. She rarely, if ever, gives feedback; just simply marks it wrong. You definitely have to work for the grade you want! If you struggle with math, your confidence will go down in her class.
She tends to be very unclear when giving instructions and will make you feel like you are not as smart as you are just because you did not understand something the first time.
Material was rushed and explained poorly. Questions asked by students were met with demeaning responses. Content was understandable through personal study, tutoring, or when taught by a sub, but when taught by her it was incoherent. People familiar with the content may be fine, but taking this class to actually learn is near impossible.
Ms. Jones often leaves out crucial information, important dates, and does not take the time to know her students or at least their names. She treats most conversations like inconveniences, and has admitted she takes off points when questions "look wrong". I would never take her class again, she has an extremely difficult class.
I once had a test where she took off a point for something that was right when confronted about it she told me its only one point and didn't fix my grade. weights all grades at the end of the semester so no one knows where they stand. homework assignments take a very long time for them to only be worth a total of 50 points. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
SUPER picky when she grades NOT friendly. Changes homework due dates so you lose points when you thought the due date was a certain day but she changes it LAST MINUTE WITHOUT COMMUNICATING.
I was stuck in this math class when I already knew the material so having mandatory attendance felt awful. Nothing against the professor but I just don't like how she teaches. I felt like I was being talked down to like a middle schooler for basic math problems I learned 6 years ago. Since I couldn't just leave and come for exams it felt so slow.
-Derogatory comments -Won't grade sloppy handwriting -Picky Grading (Grammar and Complete sentencing in a math class?) -Nosy (it's a priv convo bestie) -Won't print notes (using my laptop and mouse) -Teaches fast (cant keep up? SOL)
Honestly, I took her class without reading her reviews and I thought she was okay, however, most of these reviews are accurate. She gives a LOT of long hw assignments- I'm talking HOURS for some of them. She makes you print the notes yourself, but she lets you use them on the unit tests if you do. Overall, she's fine and it's easy enough.
I've had this professor twice (not by choice) and each time was worse than the last. She changes due dates frequently, last minute, and without proper communication; so you never know when homework, projects, or quizzes are due. Does not give a class schedule in the syllabus, nor does she upload due dates to Brightspace. 10/10 do not recommend
Horrible. She wouldn't even lecture us or teach us anything. We were required to watch hours and hours of YouTube videos on how to do the material. She encouraged us to ask questions if we were confused. When asked, me and multiple other students were told to "trust our guts" and received no help. DO NOT ENROLL WITH HER!!!
All the notes were available online, and she expected us to print out all 80 pages of notes. We don't have enough money to print them all! So, it's better to choose a more traditional class that does not require group work. My group of 5 turned into to just me, no one wanted to work; she told me to find a new group. Find a different teacher/class.
Too much homework and tests. Doesn't teach at all and makes you watch YouTube videos of OTHER PEOPLE'S teaching. During class you get in groups and do worksheets and she doesn't teach during class. You have to learn everything on your own, This class is buns.
Test every Friday, 40 min video quiz every day, no help on questions, assignments in class arnt for grade, hot flashes, doesn't stop talking
The worse learning experience I have had in my entire school years. She only relies on the video lectures and does not teach in class at all. She gives you a 5 point quiz after every video lecture and does not go over them before and maybe goes over them after the quiz. Barely any help gotten from the teacher themself had to rely on other sources.
One of the worst professors that I have ever had. Relied only on video lectures and she puts you in groups the first week and you have to rely on them for the rest of the semester. If the group is lost as you are good luck passing the class. She is accessible outside of class but instead, she encourages you to ask your group members instead.
Be ready to teach yourself for the most part. In almost every class, you have to watch the lecture videos before going into class and then take a quiz on the lecture. She rarely goes over the information without anyone asking. She sends weekly emails to let you know what needs to be completed. Get ready to hear Fractions Are Your Friends every day.
One of the worst teachers I have had in a while. Doesn't teach at all, but gives you video lectures almost everyday that you have to watch. Gave video quizzes before every class and it is tough if you don't understand the lectures. Marks off little points on weekly quizzes that are questionable. Would avoid at all costs.
I'm a straight A student, was 5th in my high school class and have taken over 15 collage classes through the University of Akron. I am a studier and work hard at everything I do. This class was the single worst class I have ever taken. I ended below a 70% and will have to retake this class. Would NOT recommend.
She does a flipped learning style which worked really well for me. You learn the material outside of class and reinforce it in class. She is not very helpful in class but if you go to her office hours she helps much more.
Anedra Jones has a very particular grading style - be prepared for detailed feedback and strict adherence to requirements. While challenging, utilizing unstuck AI and the textbook can help you stay on top of the workload. Attend class and engage to get the most out of this course.
I'm more than ten years out from having this person as a professor and felt compelled enough to write this. Got staight As in the rest of my undergraduate math and physics courses. Worst professor I ever had. Simply did not know subject, hyper defensive and emotionally reactive as a result. Imposter syndrome and fake it till you make it reified.
She was good at explaining difficult math problems and her lectures were very good. Also a fair grader.
Does not teach, and when asked for help, she will just say, "Fractions are your friends". The only thing you do in class is group work, and you do not get to pick your group. If you do not show your work as she likes it, you will get deducted points even if you solved it correctly.
She is not very effective at explaining concepts. She focuses more on trying to be funny than on teaching "fractions are your friends", talks a lot but at the same time conveys very little useful information. I feel like I'm paying a lot of money to attend university, but in the end, I'm the one having to teach myself.
She is very understanding and teaches good but is a bit too fast. Might need to study outside of class and go to tutoring.
